hi everyone. i'm shroom and you've probably seen my posts before. my life is still a shitshow and nothing is coming together like it should. can't find a job, can't save up for a car, can't save up to escape this abusive household. bare necessities like food and medication and doctor's appointments take every last cent that i have. i'm also dealing with c0vid right now and it's kicking my ass completely; i've spent the better part of the last two weeks laying in my bed. i can't even complete commissions my energy is so low.

please help me cover my cat's final vet bill

going to try and keep this short for my own wellbeing: my cat dorito passed away last wednesday morning at the vet. she meant a lot to me, she was with me for a very long and wonderful time, and her doctors made sure she passed as peacefully as possible. unfortunately, my only source of income is state disability money, and the costs of putting her down and dealing with her remains put a pretty sizable dent in that.

Hello everyone, I really don't like asking for it, but it's undeniable that me and my housemates could use some help. We live in a very conservative area, and all of us are visibly queer. We're trying to raise funds to move somewhere safer, but the only way I can earn income safely is through art, as I've been threatened or put in harm's way due to my apparent trans-ness at every place I've worked at. My roommates face similar tribulations, living in the public eye here is simply unsustainable. I wish folks developing indie games were better at reigning themselves in, not getting too ambitious with features. I feel like they're shooting themselves in the foot every time they release a bare bones game with the promise that the rest of the features will be out "soon" (usually translates to either never or like. 3 years.). I see it again and again and every time I either try it and get bored by how little there is to do within a couple hours then never play again, or plan to buy it when it is in a more complete state which will either never come or is too far in the future for me to remember the game exists.

i'm honestly way too tired to post a lot of proof of me going to the ER so much recently so if you really want some kind of proof i'll chat in dms about it maybe. basically my neck is fucked up, i havent been able to sit up properly since aug 11th 2023 & we still dunno how or why, only that my neck discs are now newly bulging onto my spinal cord. it hurts a lot i am in constant pain and nothing works for pain relief so i can't work. i'm very luckily in a situation where i am being cared for atm but it is still financially fraught so still, anything helps.

"this is a cash grab" "this is fan service" damn you're telling me that a product was made because someone thought there was a potential market for it? you're saying that this soulless vampire of a creator thought "I could make something people will like and then earn money by selling it to them"? you have said nothing about the actual quality of the work or the conditions under which it was made. it sounds like you're trying to imply that this work was rushed into production and made in a way that exploited people, or that the quality is bad because it's trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator, but you haven't actually said either of those things. are either of those true or are you just mad because you have strange notions about creators owing you Pure Art and you've decided to redirect your rage at billionaires for hoarding wealth to random moderately successful artists.

Disabled, unable to work, forced to beg while waiting for SSA to throw me a bone

Hi it's getting really heartbreaking to keep writing these every single month.

I'm disabled and can't work and the social security administration has been dragging its feet for literal years now on my requests for disability benefits. It's exhausting but even more exhausting is the fact that I keep having to beg people for financial help every month.

My partner can cover my rent. It's not ideal but that means my biggest expense is covered. But I still have about $150 of bills I need to pay per month, plus I desperately need non-bill money so I can get things like replacements for worn-out clothes so I'm asking for a little extra if I can get it. listened to the in our times episode about robert burns, and weirdly enough, the most memorable line was '...perhaps if wordsworth hadn't gone to cambridge, he'd have written in cumbrian dialect. conversely, attending university might've ruined robert burns.' and now i can't stop imagining the alternative reality where wordsworth had preserved rural cumbrian dialect by writing his poetry in it. my hearts weeps.

as a trans person i am beyond disgusted by tumblr's actions and i honestly want to bail out of this hellsite (and i'm not even calling it that affectionately). but twitter is run by conservatives and elon musk, facebook is full of bigoted boomers, instagram is all ads and tiktok is government spyware. i just don't know any safe social media anymore where i can post pictures and art that doesn't either get flagged, harassed or sold to AI.

They sure do love making us desperate for safe spaces to exist and have a community so that they can slide in some of the worse policies and hope that we just let it go instead of being forced to become more and more isolated. I’m sure that’s fine, right? And nothing horrific happens to people in isolation, right?
