Part #5 of DSMP-coded song series! I haven't done one in a while so I'll do a lightning round of a few random characters or duos!
Philza and Kristin. Come on, it's so sweet, it's literally them
C! TNT Duo(/r)
"One of us just has to change, you say the same"
"Twist my umbrella 'til it's inside-out, Hand you a bouquet of rain"
"Did I shout or think I could save you this way?"
"Then you looked in my eyes and said, 'How dare you love me? When you should despise me? You should be scared of me,' It seems that that's what it means when somebody needs you"
"When the smoke clears are we friends or strangers again? Just a familiar face"
"So how could we separately heal? God, I don't get it. I really don't get it, Could someone tell me how to feel?"
"So watch your step or you'll trip and fall right out of love"
"'Til death do us part, please keep breaking my heart, 'Til it ceases to beat, please be mine"
"So if love conquers all, then all else must have failed, I mean, who wants to fall? Can't we just take the stairs?"
C! Clingy Duo, especially New L'manberg time right before and after Tommy gets exiled
C! Crimeboys or C! TNT Duo(but headcanon-ized), in a what-if scenario if Tommy or Quackity found Wilbur in the button room on the 16th instead of Phil. (C! Wilbur is so JD-coded, this is very old news in this fandom)
C! TNT Duo(/r) /hj but not really. Idk, it just kinda fits how I imagine their dynamic
C! Disc Duo in Exile arc. So fun :D Nothing ever happened ever in exile arc
"Nobody ever loved me, Like she tells me she does" Dream claiming he's Tommy's only friend and no one else cares for him like Dream cares about him.
"Tender as a bruise, sharper than a razor, Wrap her tentacles around me like she'll never let me go, Her fury shakes the rafters, but never in my favor" Whenever Dream gives angry(sometimes physically) at Tommy for whatever reason
"I should be counting blessings, Something is better than nothing, Isn't it, isn't it, isn't it? It's close enough to perfect, What does it hurt, a little bit?" Tommy trying to convince himself that exile is fine and that Dream really is his friend and he should be grateful for him despite how much Dream is hurting him.

A short fic in which Tommy found Wilbur in the button room instead of Phil
A man in a trench coat stood facing the wall that housed a small wooden button. Surrounding him, lyrics had been etched into the stone walls of the room, ones he had written and carved himself. Outside of the room, echoes of fireworks sounded off, and cheering was something that was far from rare. People were celebrating, yet here he stood, about to destroy it all. The button was right there, the trigger to Chekov’s Gun.
It was something so small and insignificant as a piece of wood no bigger than his palm, but the havoc it could wreak… it was such a glorious thing, that button. It was the centerpiece to his plan, his path to catharsis. Wilbur’s hand shook as he placed it upon the button’s surface.
“After everything, it’s just you and me, in this room.” He chuckled. “I’ve been waiting for this moment, the moment to end it all. This place used to be special. Like the words I’ve scribbled on the walls, there was a special place, but it’s gone. Everything I’ve built is destroyed. It’s been ripped apart at its seams and all that’s left is a shell of what I’ve built… I don’t think it can exist as it was again. Even with Tubbo in charge.”
Wilbur swallowed, his throat going dry. “It’s right there… if I don’t do this now I’ll never get another chance.” Something bubbled underneath the surface of his skin, his face twisting into something that edged on anger. He lifted his shaking hand and slammed it against the stone wall next to the trigger.
“The nation I’ve built doesn’t exist anymore!” Wilbur snaps to himself, almost as a reassurance. He lowers his head and looks down at the dusty floor of the cave while he hovers his trembling hand over the button. “...It’s over,” He snaps, centimeters from the surface of the wood, about to pull the trigger and end it all.
“Wil?”
His heart stops, and he drops his hand away from the wall. It was a voice he had hoped he would never hear again. “Tommy..?” Wilbur turns.
Tommy’s face was etched in disbelief… and hurt. “What are you doing here?”
Wilbur closed his eyes for a second, trying to clear his racing thoughts. “I.. I think you know why, Tommy.”
Tommy walked towards him. “You don’t need to do this, Wil… I mean, this is our home. We built this together, surely we can rebuild it-”
“Don’t you see, Tommy? There is nothing to rebuild! It will never be the same. It will never be my home again, let alone ours. How are you so blind that you can’t see what happened after we left? They hate us, Tommy.”
“That’s not true! You should see everyone’s faces down there! They’re all celebrating!” Tommy stepped towards him. “You can’t really want to do this-”
“I do! I do Tommy, I really do!” Wilbur couldn’t meet his eyes. “It’s not the same, it can’t be the same. They cast us out! They hunted us, and you’re gonna stand there and tell me they care? They wouldn’t give a shit if I died, let alone blew up their fucking home, our fucking home, that they tore apart. They don’t stand for anything.”
“Look at me, Wil.”
“No.” He couldn’t. He had to do this.
“Wil! For one second get out of your fucking head and listen to me! We can fix this. You and me. Isn’t that what you wanted? To get our home back?”
“Our home is gone!” Wilbur looked up at him. Tommy had tears running down his face, even though he was trying to hide it behind his words. Wilbur turned away from him. “I’m doing this, Tommy, and I’m sorry, but you know the saying-”
“Wilbur, please don’t-” Wilbur felt Tommy grab his trenchcoat.
“-it was never meant to be.”
Wilbur slammed the button with his fist, and all hell broke loose. The sound was deafening, and the force of the explosion left Wilbur and Tommy knocked to the floor.
----
Tommy coughed, trying to expel some of the ash and dust from the explosion. His ears were ringing, making sounds feel distant and muddied. He pushed himself to his feet. his muscles aching from the day’s fighting. He moved over to the edge of the cave, where once there was a wall, now was the sheer edge of a cliff. When the dust settled, he could see figures down below, looking up at him in disbelief. His eyes burned as he looked down at what remained of his home. Nothing but a crater. There was nothing left. He let out a sob and fell to his knees, resting his head in his hands. He can’t remember the last time he had cried like this. He heard something behind him as he sobbed, and it sounded like… laughter.
“My unfinished symphony, forever unfinished!” Wilbur shouted. Tommy couldn’t tell if it was to Tommy, or himself. Tommy growled and got to his feet, staring Wilbur in his eyes. Something was missing there and had been for a long time. This wasn’t Wilbur. This wasn’t his Wilbur.
“What the fuck have you done?!” Tommy spit out, and he hated the way his voice cracked from the stress. “You… you…”
Before Tommy could even think, Wilbur pulled out his knife. The worn blade was etched in battle scars, even though Wilbur didn’t like to use it much. Its handle was loosely wrapped in cloth that had been stained red. Wilbur threw it at his feet.
“Kill me. Tommy, kill me.” Something burned in Wilbur’s eyes as he gestured out into the crowd. “Look at them! All of your friends! They want you to do it, and I know you want to. You hate me, I destroyed your home.” He spoke fast, leaving no room for Tommy to process what was going on.
“Y-You’re like my brother! I can’t!” Tommy stepped back from him, the look in Wilbur’s eyes was burning through his soul and shocking him to his core. “I can help you, Wil. We can work this out-”
“I know you hate me for what I just did, don’t lie.” Wilbur bent down in front of him, grabbing the dagger. He shoved it into Tommy’s hands.
“I can’t hate you- You did everything for me! You gave me the home I never had and you took it away-” His voice cracked at that last part, and he hated himself for it. “You know I can’t kill you.” He looked back to Wilbur, but he couldn’t meet his eyes. His hands shook and his tears stained the dusty ground.
Wilbur quickly looked out into the crowd, his expression indecipherable. “Fine.” He snatched the blade from Tommy’s hands, and before Tommy even realized what was happening Wilbur turned his back to the cliff, and held the dagger pointed at his heart.
Wilbur closed his eyes. “Goodbye, Tommy.”
Before Tommy could react, Wilbur plunged the dagger into his chest. Wilbur gave a pained smile and fell backward into the crowd.
“NO!” Tommy screamed, his lungs burning as he moved as fast as he could to the edge as time seemed to slow down. Tommy slid to his knees and tried reaching out to grab Wilbur, but his fingers slipped around Wilbur’s hands that were wet with his own blood. He watched as the man fell, further and further, his trench coat billowing around him. Tommy couldn’t hear anything but his own voice, screaming for the brother who had betrayed him. Tears streamed down his face and he couldn’t pull himself together enough to hide it.
After a few long, sickening seconds, a wet thud sounded in the crater, Wilbur’s body finally hitting its mark. Tommy screamed until he felt his lungs would give out. His world was collapsing around him as he lost everything in one blow. Everything he could call home was gone, in a flash, just when he thought he got it back. He was foolish to think he could fix things. Even when it was so broken, when Wilbur was so broken, he thought everything could go back to the way things were after the war. The way things were before the election.
He felt a hand on his shoulder, but he didn’t care to acknowledge it. Whoever it was dragged him into an embrace, rubbing circles into his back, trying to calm him. He tried to pull away, but the person held him steadfast, whispering things to him that almost sounded like an apology. The voice was familiar. Tommy leaned into them, crying into their shoulder, letting everything flow until he was completely drained.
His lungs ached and his eyes could barely open from the headache. The person’s soothing voice still tried to comfort him, even though he couldn’t make out the words.

I’m also curious what your guys thoughts and opinion are on this or my writing in general! Can’t get better without feedback :]
Y/N loved their family.
They were all pretty chaotic but so was Y/N, following their siblings into trouble ignoring any possible consequences.
So when Wilbur proclaimed he would create an independent Nation inside the SMP that was owned by Dream himself, you bet that Y/N was standing right beside him.
When Wilbur would struggle with his tasks or was weighed down by doubts they would swoop right in and do their best to support him. Every time Wilbur would say “I don’t know what I would do without you sometimes.” While Y/N didn’t do it for praise but out of love for him it was still nice knowing that he appreciated them and that he took note of their work.
Tommy wasn’t really for heartfelt words but he too expressed in his own way how much he appreciated them being around. Most of his schemes wouldn’t have even happened without Y/N’s help after all. As a way to say thanks he would let them just take stuff fout his chets or when he heard they needed a specific resource he would wander out and get it for them. Of course saying something on the lines of “I was out there anyhow, so I brought some with me. It was on the way.” Y/N could read between the lines though. They grew up with him after all.
Y/N put so much energy into L’Manberg they couldn’t help but be in love with this little nation. They would do everything to protect their home.
When Y/N lost their first life it was together with their siblings protecting their nephew Fundy.
The Dream Team suddenly retreated after another battle against L’Manberg. While the group was celebrating what they thought was their first victory in ages, Eret appeared. She told the group of a small bunker with more resources.
Still celebrating Wilbur, Y/N, Tommy, Tubbo and Fundy made their way towards the bunker. The bunker that would later go down into history as “The Final Control Room.”
Inside they all looked at the labeled chests only to notice that they were empty. Eret then pressed a button which opened up secret walls with the Dream Team standing behind. She herself got into safety as Dream and his friends merciless attacked the L’Manberg faction.
As soon as Y/N understood what was happening they did their best to form a wall between the attackers and Fundy. Slowly pushing him out of the room while they made sure to block the exit, giving the Fox Hybrid enough time to run away.
When they woke up again it was inside their home. In L’Manberg. Sore from the respawning.
Once they did respawn though it didn’t take long for Fundy to barge into their room and throw himself against them, thanking them. Wilbur was close by, looking worse for wear as well but incredible thankful nonetheless.
After that and a few battles more Tommy challenged Dream to a duel in order to secure independence. He lost so instead he bartered his music discs for freedom.
After Tommy respawned a second time Y/N made sure to spent most of their time hovering around him. Making sure he was doing alright.
But with that L’Manberg was independent and it was Y/N’s time to shine. Sure, they worked hard on strengthening the infrastructure of the nation but now, maybe even because of that, they basically coordinated all the new builds.
Shops, homes and other things were being build with them overseeing it. Meanwhile Wilbur and Tommy took care of the political part only to come to the conclusion that they had to have a proper election.
At first it started innocently enough as well. New political parties were made that begun advertising themselves. Funny enough they would always come to Y/N asking them where they could hang up their posters. It was then that Y/N realized that the people saw them as some sort of authority, even asking them if they wanted to start their own campaign. They politely declined, saying they worked best as a support role.
Then Schlatt entered the stage and everything got thrown upside down.
In the end he managed to become the next president via a coalition and his first declaration as the president, or emperor as he called himself, was to exile Tommy and Wilbur.
As they ran for their life Y/N didn’t hesitate to follow. It hurt them so much to leave L’Manberg, their fruit and labor, behind. This only got worse once they realized that Tubbo was basically left alone back at the city under Schlatt’s rule.
Then Pogtopia got established.
Tommy, Wilbur and Y/N did their best to get a proper foothold again. Gathering resources and planning for ways to get their home back. And to accomplish this they soon called in the oldest sibling of the group, Technoblade.
Techno has been away for the longest time now. He moved out early to travel the world and apparently train himself. Somehow Tommy found a way to get a message to him, so he made his way towards Pogtopia.
He wasn’t big on words or emotions but as soon as he arrived he let Y/N hug him.
“This is a onetime deal, Y/N.”
With Techno they finally felt like they had a chance. Y/N could maybe return home someday. Back when they were children Techno always looked out for them so to have him back Y/N felt infinitely safer.
All the while Wilbur showed more and more signs that his mental health was rapidly declining. Y/N did their best trying to cheer him up but there was only so much they could do. Especially since they themself were struggling.
L’Manberg was their everything and now it was under the iron rule of Schlatt. They had to watch as Schlatt walked through the nation, ripping apart builds that they commissioned or even built themself. Every time he did something like that it felt like another stab wound directly into their heart.
Then the festival happened where Y/N lost their second life protecting Tubbo.
Schlatt wanted to apparently celebrate democracy and his amazing rule. Tommy and Wilbur weren’t allowed to join while Techno and Y/N received an invitation.
Y/N was very wary of that. They learned from Tubbo that Schlatt apparently was pretty interested in bringing them over to Manberg since a lot of the residents trusted them and saw them more as an authority than Schlatt himself, so bringing them over would probably also bring a lot of the residents around to his rule.
On the day of the festival Y/N made sure to stay close to Techno. Holding on to his arm and basically hiding behind him, not feeling up to talk with all the people in Manberg.
The people were happy to see them but Y/N was tired. They haven’t slept properly ever since the exile, too many thoughts that kept them awake.
Then the speeches started.
Honestly Y/N wasn’t really listening, their attention purely on a broken old building. It used to be the place where Y/N and the other residents would meet up and map out their plans for new builds. Discussing and even sometimes arguing on what materials should be used and where to get them. Now it was empty.
Their attention got pulled back towards what was actually happening once Tubbo begun speaking. It was a nice little speech Y/N had to admit.
Just as Tubbo was about to leave, Schlatt moved back in. Holding him in place and pushing him in something that Y/N had to describe as a cage with the help of Quackity.
“Techno, buddy. Come up here for a sec.”
Technoblade tensed up but still moved towards the stage. There Schlatt uttered the words that pulled the rug out from beneath Y/N once again.
“Kill him Techno. He is a traitor.”
“Don’t you dare!” Y/N yelled out, making their way towards the stage as well.
Y/N knew Techno couldn’t deal well with social pressure, especially when there were about ten people or more behind him that could attack him at any point.
Tubbo looked so scared as he pressed himself against the wall. There was no escape for him.
When Techno moved his crossbow up, aiming directly at Tubbo, Y/N let out another scream. Urging him to stop.
Explosions. Colorful explosions filled the place.
“Y/N!” it was Tubbo screaming their name out.
Just as Techno pressed the trigger Y/N managed to jump in front, the rockets hitting them instead of Tubbo.
Their older brother looked absolutely mortified “Y/N? Wha- What? Why? How?” staring at Y/N’s lifeless body that slowly dissolved. They were slowly respawning but seeing his siblings body was enough to send him in some sort of frenzy.
Filled with bloodlust he aimed his crossbow towards Schlatt and Quackity. Killing them with one press of the trigger only to turn around and aim his crossbow towards the people.
As this happened Tommy enderpearled over, screaming at Techno.
He helped Tubbo out of the cage who was still in a state of shock. He only saw Y/N for a second and the next they were laying on the ground in their own blood.
Y/N heard the details later after they respawned. Tommy had apparently been incredibly angry at Techno, even attacking him. Wilbur then offered that the two deal with their argument via a fistfight inside a pit.
Normally Y/N would have yelled at Wilbur for that. Would have told him that this was his dumbest idea yet but they were too shook from what had happened to them.
Technoblade always spelled safety to them but he killed them. Sure, he meant to kill Tubbo but that didn’t really make it any better. They gave him an out, they would have helped fighting off all these people so they could flee.
The next time they saw Techno they flinched every time he got too close to them and yet they still put on a smile “Never, do this again.”
Techno only nodded.
After this downward slope the momentum didn’t seem to stop for them. Wilbur dropped even more and more off. Falling victim to his paranoia. Y/N tried their best convincing him to not blow up Manberg, that they will fight to gain it back. At this point trying to gain back their L’Manberg was the only thing they could hold on to.
Though all that work was for nothing.
The war to take back L’Manberg went way differently than they all had imagined. Y/N fought with a viciousness most didn’t think they had it in them. This was the day for them to finally regain what they had wished for, for the longest time now.
Everything came to a halt once Dream surrendered. He showed them Schlatt who was sitting in the Carmavan. Drunk off his mind he yelled and screamed at people only to die of a heart attack which meant that the Pogtopia faction won.
The people begun cheering, they had their home back! They were free! Y/N was probably the loudest by far. It felt like a huge weight was lifted from their shoulders. All this hardship and they could finally return to working with the others and rebuild L’Manberg. Return it to its former glory.
Tubbo got appointed President and Y/N was happy with it. Tubbo had an eye for building and was a good person, with him they were sure they could do some amazing things.
Apparently Techno thought otherwise. Instead he pulled Soulsand out, holding onto the Wither skulls as a visible threat.
Y/N had somewhat forgiven Techno for what had happened. It was a stressful situation and they acknowledged it but seeing him there, threatening to kill all of them? That they knew they couldn’t forgive quite so easy. Especially since he made some sound points but it was their L’Manberg. The people didn’t like living under Schlatt’s rule, this wasn’t something that could be described simply as a coup. Technically he was right but only technically. There were so many things that came into play that could let you argue over that but Techno would have none of it. Yelling something about Tommy only wanting to be a hero.
When the first explosions rang Y/N thought it came from a Wither but Techno was still in the middle of putting the heads onto the structure.
When more explosions rang and the ground beneath their feet broke away, Y/N understood what had happened.
At some point Wilbur ran off and must have pressed the button. The button that set the TNT beneath the city ablaze, effectively destroying everything.
Y/N was too busy with finding hard ground again and then dealing with the Withers and Techno that they only noticed after the fighting ended, how broken the nation was now.
They had won. Why would Wilbur do this? He knew how much the nation meant to them and again, they had won, so there was no reason for blowing the place up!
And if that wasn’t enough to see how both their older brothers destroyed everything Y/N worked for, they also had to see how Philza, their father, stood next to the corpse of Wilbur. It felt like they lost everything.
They lost their trust in Technoblade.
They lost their hopes and dreams via Wilbur blowing up the freshly liberated L’Manberg.
They lost their trust in their own father who had slain his own son.
Y/N felt absolutely crushed. Family was so important to them and it was their own family that destroyed their hopes and dreams. They did everything for them and this is how they repaid them?
Once everything calmed down and Tubbo begun making plans on how to rebuild the nation, he immediately came to Y/N for help but they hesitated which worried him.
“Is everything okay? Usually you would have jumped on that offer, Y/N.”
Y/N put on a smile that didn’t seem to reach their eyes “Don’t worry Tubbo, of course I’ll help you. I’m just tired from what we have been through. I finally have time to take a breather and I think it all just crashed down on me.”
“Well if you ever need help you can talk to me.” It was an earnest offer that Y/N would never take advantage of.
Y/N mostly ignored Philza. He talked with them a few times and even explained what has happened but Y/N still made a wide berth around him. Seeing him just hammered back down the feeling of distrust and hurt. Their familial relationship took a hard hit from that point on.
With Ghostbur it was a weird situation as well. They enjoyed spending time with him but were also always incredibly sad around him. Ghostbur took notice of this and would always offer them to take some of his blue but Y/N declined every time.
“Don’t worry Ghostbur. Everything is still just fresh in my mind. I’ll be back to my old self in no time. You take care of yourself, you hear?”
“Of course Y/N! You have always looked out for me, thank you.”
L’Manberg slowly took on a proper form again but it wasn’t the L’Manberg Y/N knew. It felt to them like they were standing on top of a grave. A grave for their dreams and it was getting hard, real hard, to walk through it every day seeing places where they know specific buildings should be standing. Buildings they build on their own only to be destroyed by their brothers doing.
Then Tubbo exiled Tommy and Y/N felt conflicted. They felt obligated to stay in L’Manberg since they were the main person people came to for builds but that was their brother. Their only brother they still trusted and felt a need to protect.
Instead of following him into exile they stayed in the city. Visiting Tommy whenever they could, noticing pretty fast that he was struggling hard with his situation and for once they didn’t feel strong enough to properly support him. Y/N tried their best but once they noticed they couldn’t reach him completely they gave up a tiny bit.
It reminded them too much of Wilbur.
So while they visited him and helped them where they could, they spent more and more time alone in their home only coming out for work and other necessary things like food. Soon it was normal to see them with ever present dark circles beneath their eyes.
Before Philza disappeared to join Techno, he would stop by Y/N’s home all the time.
“Have you eaten, yet?”
“Yes, dad. I’m an adult. I can take care of myself.”
“I just haven’t seen you much lately and I got worried.”
“Don’t worry. I’m fine. Hey, if you go out, please, can you tell Ghostbur to stop coming around to throw Blue inside my mailbox? He won’t listen to me but perhaps he will to you.” And they would always carry the same big smile on their face accompanied by empty eyes.
The only time their happiness reached their eyes again was when Tommy returned from his exile. They crashed into their younger sibling holding him close to them and muttering apologies. He pried them off, embarrassed by all of this.
This short bout of happiness was destroyed by Doomsday. Dream, Technoblade and Philza once again made sure to set L’Manberg ablaze.
The second time Y/N’s fruits and labor got completely annihilated by their family but still they had some hopes this time. They still had Tommy on their side they could just finally build a home somewhere else and live in peace but Tommy had other ideas. He had it in his mind to get his discs back and he would do anything for it.
So while Y/N tried to ground themself with new hopes and ideas, holding onto the only constant of what was important to them, that being Tommy, Tommy ignored them. He was too busy with his own things and the worst part was that Y/N couldn’t even fault him for it.
They understood how much these discs meant to him and that this was something that had to come to an end but with this they lost another, and possibly their last, anchor point.
Yet you could still see them running around with a smile, tending to every one and trying to help out the best they could.
Then suddenly they were gone. They just disappeared one day. The few people who took note of that took some time to look around but there was no sign as to where they left. Y/N didn’t take their armor with them nor any weapons or food.
< Y/N succumbed to despair and fell of a high place>
When every ones communicators rung out with this message the SMP fell quiet.
Tommy couldn’t believe what he was reading. This didn’t make any sense. Y/N was fine! They would talk with them and everything looked fine! This must have been a cruel joke from Dream somehow, right? This couldn’t be real. Why would Dream do this? This didn’t seem to make sense.
Exactly there was no sense in Dream doing this.
While Tommy was battling with his thoughts Tubbo came running over to him. Tears streamed down his face.
“What happened? Why did this happen? Where are they?”
Tommy was visibly shaking “I- I have no idea. I don’t know. They looked fine. I’m- I’m not sure. Tubbo-“
Tubbo just slammed into him, giving him a proper hug, trying his best to help Tommy through his rising panic. He lost another sibling and by Ender that hurt.
Meanwhile in the snowy Tundra both Philza and Techno were staring at their communicators as well.
Philza was pale. So pale it almost rivaled the snow around him.
Techno had his brows furrowed. For anyone who didn’t know him well enough he looked at best displeased with this situation but Philza could see the small details that told a different story. Him sucking his breath in as he read the message, hiding his quivering lip in his cloak. He was heartbroken.
Sure the two weren’t on good speaking terms but Y/N was still his younger sibling. He still loved them.
Philza felt similar. He acknowledged that he screwed up and honored their wish to be left alone by him but he never imagined this could lead to their death. His knees buckled and he sank to the ground. Two of his children died, one directly by his hand and the other due to his inaction.
His eyes glossed over, the world became a blur and yet he continued rereading this message over and over. Y/N just lost their last life.
Philza could hear Techno walk closer to him and sat down on the ground as well.
“Y/N is-“ Philza begun but he didn’t know what he wanted to say. State the obvious to his eldest son?
“I have more fault in this than you, dad. Don’t feel guilty.” His voice was uncharacteristically weak. Wavering as he spoke. He wanted to cheer Philza up but it was a weak attempt.
“What have we done.”
Ghostbur was at first confused when he read the message. It was like he couldn’t connect the dots but it slowly dawned on him what this meant.
“Oh my.” His usual happy demeanor was suddenly gone.
He touched his face and as he put his hands back down he saw how they were smeared with blue.
“Y/N is dead?”
His usual ghost behavior seemed to break a bit. It was like through the warped version of Wilbur that was called Ghostbur for a moment the true version of him came through again. And he was hurt. Devastated.
“I think I need to find the others.” He mumbled to himself, making his way towards his family. All the while he held onto the blue wool of Friend like a lifeline. Combing through it nervously. Blue continuing to spill from his eyes.

ignoring is bliss 〚technoblade〛
in which [reader] struggles with her lover's inconsequent affection, and a good talk is unfortunately inevitable; the silent treatment has never worked well with techno.
"I don't know what you want me to say." His back had still been turned towards me at this point, the rake heavy in my hands as I tried using it to steady myself in the muddy stable. He kept loading dirty plucks of hay onto his pitchfork, the thinly lined buttoned shirt he was wearing easily letting his back muscles shine through.
I stood silently behind him, deliberating my words thoroughly. I hated when he acted like this, I absolutely despised him. He was one of the smartest men I'd ever had the pleasure of meeting, however, the second things went sideways conversation-wise he always played it painfully personally. He would start correcting my grammar or suggest synonyms for otherwise satisfactory sentences. "I don't either."
"I guess that marks the end of this conversation." He turned around to dump his gathered muck in the makeshift wheelbarrow Phil had built us. His face was hard, his brows furrowed and his features lax. He seemed indifferent, his attitude scaring me to pieces.
"Tech, please." I tried, putting one of my hands up to gesture for him to stop walking. He was now barely lifting the barrow from the ground, ready to head off to the dump. He huffed, his eyes meeting the floor as he put the wagon down. "You know I hate it when you call me that."
"I'm sorry," I muttered softly.
He ducked to grip his hands around the handles again, lifting it from the ground. His knuckles were white where they held onto the leather-covered grips. "Speak up."
"I want to have a conversation with you, okay? Stop acting so fucking stuck up and talk to me." His shoulder brushed past mine as he exited the stables, my voice was high in emotions, definitely on the verge of breaking with desperation.
He snorted. "I'll listen to whatever you have to say when you've calmed down."
-
"He won't talk to me, Phil." I groaned almost obnoxiously loud, taking a sip of water to wash down both my dinner and my agitation. "You know how he gets."
"All pissy? Tell me about it." He chuckled softly, his forearm shielding his bowl from my sight. He shoveled another spoonful of beef stew into his mouth. Phil and I had never been extraordinarily close, he reckoned Techno and me to be undeserving of each other. A terrible pair. And perhaps we were, at times like this I couldn't help but doubt whether or not we truly were the destined lovers we often thought ourselves to be. "I'll bring him some food later."
I laughed at him, a father at heart. A father to anyone but his actual sons, really. A playful grin on my lips, "You're an enabler, Phil."
-
That night I crawled into an empty bed. One I hadn't even doubted would be just that; empty. He was weak like that, he'd do anything to avoid conflict. Whether that was because he was afraid of what his blinding rage fits would conjure, or whether he was just an impotent coward. Someone who didn't know how to act around uncertainty and immorality and thus resorted to blaming everything on his treacherous temper.
The sheets still smelled of him, I held them to my nose.
There was no reason for us to fight, I hadn't meant to start one. I simply wanted him to realize how different he acted towards me when surrounded by any crowd. He acted so distant it made me doubt not only us, but myself. My heart ached anytime he pulled his hand away from where I tried leaving him a subtle touch. My skin crawled when he no longer referred to me by the mild, but unmissably warm names he had for me.
However, nothing would ever hurt me as much as meeting his eyes in a room of our friends and seeing the love seep from his irises. Physically witnessing his affection turn into nothing short of mere acquaintance.
Everyone knew us. There was no reason for him to act so cold, so distant. Though, I also recognized that perhaps there was an underlying reason. One I simply hadn't thought of, or perhaps one that I couldn't ever imagine. One that he had retained from his troublesome past.
The thing is, it hurt me to think he didn't trust me enough with his reasoning. That he didn't want to tell me about his thoughts. I'd been extremely careful and meticulous with any information he'd granted me, I was sure to never let what he told me change my opinion of him. I vowed to never look at him any different.
So, why could he not promise me the same?
-
There was no point in pushing myself from my sheets the next morning. I knew how long his episodes usually lasted, I wouldn't even have to try talking to him for at least two more days. Normally, I'd try, though. I'd sit in the grass right next to where he was working outside, just talking to him about anything and everything I could think of. Back then I thought for his silence to mean confusion, I thought his swirling mind simply needed a break. That a distraction would do him good.
I sat in the barely-molten grass for hours, never getting a reply.
His smell was constricting my airways slowly, every inhale making it harder and harder to breathe. What if Phil was right, what if he truly didn't love me, or not anymore at least? What if it was all an act to have a warm body to fall asleep next to, to have an extra set of hands around the cottage.
I kicked at the sheets, desperate to get them away from me, to get them from clinging to my sweaty body. I only tangled my legs further into the mess. The bed creaked loudly against the wooden floor of the attic, a gust of wind running through a small gap in the roof.
I shot up, finally being able to rid my body of the sheets. I huffed a few times, the annoyance getting the better of me. I slung my legs over the side of the bed, now just sitting on the wooden frame, letting my eyes wander over the walls. The pictures of us that were tightly tacked to the planks, photos of our favorite pets and our best of friends. Photos of us with Phil and Tommy, and even a stray photo of me and Wilbur, back when we were kids.
My gaze found its way towards the singular window behind our bed, the only one of two walls that weren't entirely slanted. His red robe stood out like a sore thumb in the feeble blanket of slushy snow that had been slowly accumulating over the course of the night. Summer was officially over once again, and the cold would soon make it so we could no longer afford to sleep alone.
He rarely wore his robe outside of special occasions, he usually would simply opt for one of his brown ones. One was trimmed with a thick deer fur, the leather on it sure to keep all frost out. The other one was his summer one, the more dirty one of the two. It was always stained with blood, since it would also be the one he went hunting with. He disliked hunting in the winter, the harsh winds and easily discernible prints made it no fun, according to him. He stacked up during the summer, drying his meats to allow them to be kept safe for months, if not years.
But now he was wearing his red robe, lined with the finest of polar bear fur. The one that had the special compartments for his potions, and the one I had sown a totem into. For good luck. He rarely wore it for any occasion but war.
He pushed himself from the ground, turning around swiftly; the velocity making his cape whisk dramatically up in the wind. His eyes seemed fixated on the ground until they unwarrantedly shot up to the window I was sitting at. Any other day, I would've averted my gaze. Not now. He knew I was staring, and he was allowed to know so. I held my eyes on him until his feet carried him out of sight, into the house. I sighed softly, I felt entirely forlorn without him, without his caring hands and loving eyes. I let myself fall back into the bed, cuddling the sheets once again as I curled away from the entrance. I reckoned he would have to change out of his robe soon, and I didn't want to face him when he did.
-
I heard the front door slam, and as predicted the rungs of the many ladders soon creaked in his hold. The worn, practically ancient, trapdoor was pushed ajar behind me. I couldn't be bothered to turn to meet his eyes. However, instead of quietly changing out of his clothes, I felt the bed dip. He sat on the side of it, much alike to how I had found myself just minutes before.
"I don't like feeling weak." His voice was rougher than usual, it kept its usual monotone aura, but for some reason, it felt more emotional than ever before. He cleared his throat as if to try and mask it, to no avail, "I don't love you any less."
I shifted in the bed, though, he quickly stopped me, "Don't look at me, that just makes it harder."
I obliged. He let out a trembling sigh, taking his sweet time to deliberate his next words, "Sometimes we are outside together and I'm afraid that when they see how much I care about you, they will realize that you make me weak." I stared at the wall, still curled into the blankets. I wanted nothing more than to hold his face, look at him as he spoke. Instead, I had to make do with the pictures of his face plastered on the wood. His pointy, flappy ears and peaked nose. The two sharp-looking fangs set in the corners of his lips, ones that seemed to disappear when he smiled. He didn't like smiling for pictures, I didn't have a single one of the two of us together where he smiled. The only ones that showed his beautiful pearly whites were the ones that had me behind the camera, something I only then realized might've not been a coincidence.
"It scares me to think they could hurt you for loving me, that's why I don't like holding your hand in town." I shot a quick look over my shoulder, his back was slouched over, his head in his hands with his elbows propped on his knees. He wasn't crying, he simply seemed lost."I never realized that what scares me even more is the idea of you not loving me at all."
I slowly crept from under the sheets as his words fell silent. I crawled over towards where he was sat, near the foot-end of the bed. I took one of his hands from where he had rested his face on it and pulled it out of the way.
I snaked my arms around his neck, pulling my body into his. I draped my legs over his lap as I held him. His built arms felt tender against my exposed back, however, he held me tight. He squeezed softly as another quivering breath escaped his lips. We sat in embrace for a while.
"That's all I asked for, Tech." I smiled into his neck. "I just wanted to talk, that wasn't so hard, now, was it?"
"Shut up." He playfully tried pushing me away from his torso, underestimating the power of my cling. "You know I hate it when you call me that."

Tubbo and Wilbur’s Parallels
tw/ mentions of death / suicidal ideations
“If I can’t become the next Schlatt, then you can’t become the next Wilbur.”
This is a quote from Tubbo, given just before the exile arc began, when he was arguing with Tommy. Tommy accused him of acting like Schlatt because he was putting the nation's needs before him. Tubbo, offended at the comparison, reminds Tommy that he is acting irrationally, and is reminding Tubbo of Wilbur.
When we speak of parallels between Tubbo and Tommy with Schlatt and Wilbur, we’re often inclined to compare Tubbo with Schlatt, because they worked together so closely during Schlatt’s reign, and the complicated relationship between them which ultimately ended up with Schlatt having Tubbo lose a canon life for his betrayal. And due to Tommy and Wilbur's close relationship before and up to Wilbur's betrayal, it's easy to draw comparisons between them as well.
But I think we often overlook a lot of similarities between Tubbo and Wilbur that are worth delving into more, and the farther Tubbo goes with his character the more comparisons I keep catching. At this point I think Tubbo's character parallels Wilbur's far more than Tommy's does.
Wilbur was the founder of L’Manberg, and its first president. It’s a nation he built from the ground up, which started as nothing more than a front for his drug lab but grew into something bigger and more meaningful than Wilbur ever planned for. While on the server he found love (?) and had a child, Fundy, and then things began to get rocky as they fought for their independence against Dream.
Ultimately Wilbur fails to protect L’Manberg and their independence is bought by way of Tommy sacrificing his discs in return. Wilbur ends up losing his country by way of being exiled when Schlatt wins office, and we watch his descent into madness as he realizes how much he cared for the country and how no matter what he does, what it once was is gone forever in his eyes. The Pogtopia arc originated with Wilbur trying to come up with a plan to secure his presidency again and to reclaim his country. It ends with Wilbur refusing his original role and ultimately destroying the very thing he created along with himself because he couldn’t bear to see what it or himself had become.
In Wilbur’s darkest moments we see them play out on screen, his button room is one of the most iconic scenes we got during this period of the storyline. Wilbur in an enclosed space, surrounded by the signs reminding him of what L’Manberg once was and what it would never be again. He's hounded by his thoughts, his mental state shattered and he no longer believes there's any other course of action.
Ultimately this is his final resting place, the room where he sets off the TNT that destroys L’Manberg for the first time. He begs his father, who had just arrived to the server because he was worried when Wilbur stopped sending him letters, to kill him. And Phil does.
L’Manberg’s story does not end here, despite what Wilbur did. It begins again, with Tubbo and a crater. We talk about Tubbo being president of L’Manberg as though he was just taking on the role and a nation the way Schlatt did, but in reality, he founded it again. Tubbo, along with Phil and others, REBUILT an entire city on the rubble of its former life. Tubbo’s L’Manberg is in fact nothing like Wilbur’s, except for the parts Tubbo purposely recreated, like the camar van.
The major difference in their takes on presidency is that Tubbo did this for Tommy, for Wilbur, for the original citizens. He took on the role of President out of duty to Wilbur who passed it down to him when he felt unfit to rule again. He did his best on behalf of everyone who fought on Pogtopia's side, to reclaim a nation they all had lost. In the end he lost it one final time, chunk errored by way of Phil, Techno, and Dream.
And from here on we see a new Tubbo. The bright-eyed, president-elect is no more, and instead he begins to isolate himself from the main server. He retreats to a snowy biome separated by water, and builds a house and gives it a name. Snowchester. Now, most people wouldn't give just a house a name. Even from the start Tubbo was creating a new community, without even realizing. Eventually Snowchester grew to be a legitimate colony of its own, with Jack Manifold, Foolish, and Puffy all moving in and setting up shop. He declares independence, and in doing so, decides he must ensure it any way possible. He's seen what happened to Wilbur's L'Manberg, how helpless the other man was in keeping it safe. He knows he failed his own L'Manberg, and he will not let it happen again.
He hatches a plan with Jack, and the answer is.... Nukes. A bomb, in other words. But instead of using it to destroy his nation, it'll be used to protect it. Tubbo designs it, and they ensure it works with a test launch before decommissioning the remaining two. Time passes and eventually, he's opening up to people again. Tubbo marries Ranboo and they adopt a child together.
Suddenly it's not just Tubbo, it's Tubbo and Ranboo, Tubbo and Michael, and then Tommy is gone. It's shocking, and unexpected, and he doesn't believe it at first. He's been so beaten down under Schlatt's regime he no longer openly shows his emotions, the closest we get to seeing his true grief during this time is when he stares at the memorial he just finished for Tommy in Snowchester. Then comes the anger.
He wants to know how this could've happened, he tries to investigate it, but before he can get too deep into it, Tommy's back. Revived, and Tubbo has had to experience losing him and gaining him back again twice now. Inevitably, like with most of Tommy's plans, Tubbo is roped into his next one. And it's a doozy. Tommy reveals that he wants to kill Dream, to ensure he can never revive anyone else, and Tubbo reluctantly accepts.
One of the most troubling moments during his investigative time was when he made a room for him to fill with his notes and evidence. At first glance it is deeply reminiscent of Wilbur's button room, the walls covered in signs and his lectern in the middle of the room mimicking the button. Because Tommy returns before he can get further in his investigating we'll likely never see this room again, but seeing him make it to begin with filled me with unease.
Tubbo has lost his fear of death. It's first noticed at Doomsday, when he defeatedly jumped in front of Techno's rocket launchers over and over again. We see inklings of it again and again, such as when he scoffs at his chat begging him not to investigate Techno for the TNT at the prison, saying he'd die. Tubbo just replies with "So be it." and continues on. We see it again when he and Ranboo investigate the Eggpire and get caught, and he continues to fight with them until he's only got a few hearts left. He mentions feeling exhilarated, full of life from almost losing his last. It's a reminder of the violent life he's had til this point, his time in the SMP filled with war and bloodshed since the very beginning. He's not afraid to fight despite being on his last life, in fact at times he seems almost ready to end it all.
Yesterday's lore stream was unsettling in a few different ways. The first being Tubbo casually mentioning how his eyes play tricks on him. It's a throwaway mention towards possible hallucinations or paranoia. He also refers to himself as paranoid later on when he's worried someone's hurt Michael, and it bothers him so bad that the next minute he rushes over to ensure Michael is safe. He is willing to do whatever he must now, to ensure Michael can grow up safely, much like Wilbur wanted for Fundy, with no Dream to terrorize the server any longer.
Wilbur's initial wish for L'Manberg once it was fully formed was for it to be a nation his son could grow up safely in, with all the possibilities at his fingertips, until their independence was threatened and he had to focus on leading an army instead of being a father.
But even more upsetting than that, is Tubbo's admission to how he designed the nuke. He tells Jack after one is stolen that there is a manual detonation option, a dead man's switch. He designed the bomb to have a suicidal solo detonation option as a last resort, so if he ever needed to use it and Jack wasn't there he could take matters into his own hands. Tubbo was so ready to ensure if something happened to his self-made colony he could deal his revenge even at the cost of his final life. His reasoning for making the nukes was not for self-defense, it was so he could finally take a swing back at whoever took from him again. He'd seen L'Manberg destroyed twice by people who initially sided with it, had 2 canon lives ripped from him by way of betrayals. He might not have thorns on his armor but by god will his death have them, and heaven help whoever is on the receiving end of his suicide-start nuke.
This mimics Wilbur's final steps but from the logical, more level-headed mind of Tubbo. He's created a bomb, a weapon of destruction he's willing to die with. Wilbur wanted to die with L'Manberg, Tubbo is willing to die for Snowchester.

The News
Summary: A part two to A Successful Test. Tommy reflects on the next few days after the incident.
Pairings: Platonic! Tommy x F! Reader, Mentioned Wilbur x Reader
Warnings: Mentions of death, angst lotta angst, mentions of a panic attack
A/N: Just a side note, there’s a part where Tommy can touch Ghostbur. It’s my sort of headcanon where everyone can touch Ghostbur because he doesn’t have any other “abilities” of a ghost, he’s just super cold to the touch and is see through.
Tommy slammed his axe into the side of the tree, his arm aching from the force.
He didn’t care though.
A few days had passed since…the test.
Tommy couldn’t remember much that had happened directly after the explosion. He remembered yelling at Tubbo, he remembered being angry and upset and crying, but he can’t remember what happened after. Tubbo and Sam told him he ran off and Tubbo found him passed out in the snow, bringing Tommy back to his home. The older boy had run off and got Sam Nook, who got just Sam.
He healed him up and bandaged the injuries Tommy hadn’t cared to notice he had gotten from being blown back from the explosion. The injuries were still there, it had been a little too long for the healing potions to heal everything completely. He had wrapped bandages on his entire left forearm and another on his upper right arm, there had been one around his forehead but he had taken it off two days ago, a scar formed.
From there, they tried to help Tommy but he just wanted to be left alone. It was better if they stayed away anyways.
Taking the axe out, he slammed it into the tree again, the sound echoing in the small wooded area.
They had held a funeral.
Almost every last SMP resident came.
Tubbo had organized the event with the help of Eret and Sam.
Tommy stood silently during the gathering. He saw everyone there, even the family that had betrayed him came out of respect for the woman that…that gave up everything for him. Slowly, people gave their words of respect for her. It wasn’t like Schlatt’s funeral, everyone cared and everyone was hurting.
Tubbo had coaxed him into saying something, just at least as a final goodbye. Tommy hated the idea but he slowly came forward and stood in front of all the mourning people.
Mourning because of him.
“When the war first started…” Tommy spoke, everyone was frozen at his almost silent words. “When we fought for our independence of L’Manberg, (Y/N) stood with us against everything…She lost her first life…for Tubbo and me.”
The memory always haunted the two boys. Dream and his goons had cornered them into a hole outside the walls and (Y/N) had rushed over the walls without a second thought. She stood as the perfect L’Manberg citizen, screaming at them, egging them on before dashing away, letting the boys escape to the wall.
As she was making a b-line back for the safety of the walls, she had been shot in the back by Dream. Tommy remembered his scream then. He remembered screaming so loud at Dream, that Wilbur had come rushing out of the van. They drafted the Declaration of Independance the moment (Y/N) was back in the van.
“She always fought with her words till there wasn’t room to do it anymore. …(Y/N) had stood for L’Manberg but she always sought people first. She tried for peace, for everyone’s freedom. And when…Tubbo was trapped…She gave up everything when I didn’t.”
Tommy clenched his hands, remembering (Y/N) yelling at him and Wilbur.
“Techno and Tubbo are alone down there! They’re our friends in case you forgot! If you’re not going, then I will!” She had shouted before ender pearling down, knocking Techno’s crossbow the other way, aiming directly at Schlatt as he pulled the trigger.
She had pulled the panicking Tubbo out before the three of them booked it as best they could. When Schlatt came stumbling out of the white house screaming for blood, the crowd went into chaos, Wilbur trying to get down to the woman below. It had been Tommy’s fault then too…
He said Techno and Tubbo had her back, they needed to get away before anyone knew where they were. When they got to base…(Y/N) was there first, she had respawned. She had lost in a fight; Techno, Tubbo, and her having been separated. Wilbur refused to let her out of his sight the next few days as Tommy had felt guilt rack up. (Y/N) assured him though, she was happy he left.
The reason she had lost was because they stormed the tower and she became reckless thinking they were still in there so she fought to save people that weren’t there…Wilbur and Tommy would have most certainly had died if they had still been there. Or that was what (Y/N) always convinced him.
It’s his fault she’s gone. It’s his fault she had no lives to spare.
“She tried to stop Wilbur and prove we could still be the same L’Manberg.”
(Y/N) had told him one day during his exile, when Ghostbur wasn’t there, that she had been in the button room when it had gone off. That’s how she had gotten Wilbur’s jacket he wore all the time during the era of PogTopia that she had worn till the end, a stitch in the middle of the back of the jacket however where…Phil had cut through. She told him how she pleaded with Wilbur, trying to convince him that they could make L’Manberg right again. Phil trying to help her and assure Wilbur.
But Wilbur had been too far gone and told her that he loved her before pressing the button. It was one of the few times he had seen the strong woman cry. It was the first time Tommy comforted her instead of her comforting him.
When the final fight came, she stood as the new spearhead for L’Manberg. In L’Manberg’s last moments, she tried to fight with her words, saying she’d bring the country back to its former days without the need for power but she had lost and they lost the last bit of their nation. From there, she simply just spent time with Tommy, Tubbo, and Ghostbur, doing research and loving them, still fighting for people’s freedom when they needed her.
“She came to me almost every day in exile. She never gave me pity, she always made me smile, she always…she was always there.” Tommy gripped the end of his shirt as he gritted his teeth. “And the SMP couldn’t have lost someone so great.”
After the speeches, it was a somber meal. Tommy was just angry at himself. Angry that this was his fault that he had lost the world such a great woman, that he made himself lose the best sister he never had. And his anger had only gotten worse when he had noticed that Ghostbur wasn’t there. Ghostbur was the one person that hadn’t appeared and Tommy started demanding to know where the ghost of his brother was.
When questioning Ranboo if he had seen the ghost, he only got angrier.
Tommy slammed his axe into the tree once more, having to let go of the axe from the pain. It brought anger to him now thinking about what Ranboo told him.
“No, but I need to tell you something, Tommy.” He told him; his tone upset as he held his book. “I…I found (Y/N) before she went to save you. I forgot about it till I looked in my book.”
“W-What?” Tommy questioned confused. “What do you mean found her?”
“I was going to Eret’s when I heard her…I heard her screaming for someone. She was in an obsidian box. I broke her out and had to lead her out. She kept mumbling about you and another box. I-I don’t get what it meant…and her eyes were kind of unfocused.”
Tommy had stood paralyzed in the room.
“After a minute though, we heard Tubbo on the radio and she kind of shook herself out of it. She said…she said something about a traitor and you and just started running.”
Someone had put her…
There had been a second time when Tommy had to comfort his sister. She had fallen into a hole during Tommy’s exile, one of the various ones Dream had made. Tommy had laughed at first but took a moment and noticed how freaked out she was becoming. She was panicking.
Tommy had quickly gotten her out and yelled for Ghostbur. The ghost had come over and noticed what was going on, quickly putting blue in the woman’s hands as Tommy tried to get her to relax. After, (Y/N) explained how she nearly lost and did lost so much to confided spaces, boxes, that she had developed a fear of them. Tommy understood what she meant, she lost both of her lives saving them from the confines of a box and she lost Wilbur and L’Manberg to the button room, a small space.
As Ranboo was asking Tommy if he was ok, Tommy ran. He didn’t care about the protests of Phil, Sam, Tubbo, and some of the others. Someone in that room had trapped her. Someone had betrayed her and in her last moments, made her fearful, scared, and alone.
It had been three days since then and his anger was unbearable. No one bothered him, scared of mood. The only ones that tried were Tubbo and Sam but they only got snapped at. But he wasn’t angry at either of them now, he was angry at himself, the traitor, Ghostbur, Dream. He was just angry.
All of this is his fault.
He put his hands on his knees as he felt the tears well up in his eyes again. He just wanted her back, he’d do anything to bring her back.
…
Sighing, he picked up the axe and left the tree. He didn’t really need the wood anyway. He trudged back to his house, ignoring the still in construction hotel as always as he came to his home. Coming to his house, he froze as he saw the last person he wanted to see.
“What the hell are you doing here?!” Tommy shouted at the ghost of his brother.
“Tommy!” Ghostbur float to him. “I have good news!”
“Shut up!” The boy screamed. “Where the hell were you?! Where have you been?! (Y/N)’s gone and you didn’t come to her funeral or—or! Even pay respects to her! How could you do that to her memory?!”
Ghostbur moved sheepishly, uncomfortable with the shouting. “Well…I…the good news.”
“I don’t care.” Tommy scoffed going into his home. “I don’t want…”
Tommy stopped as another transparent figure, wearing a large brown coat, turned around to look at him. The figure’s eyes lit up as they rushed in front of Tommy.
“Tommy! I remember you! You remember me, right? I’m (Y/N)!” She smiled, as she stood in front of him.
Tommy was paralyzed before tears poured down.
“Oh dear, are you alright?” She asked coming closer.
“Oh, here, have some blue!” Ghostbur smiled now, holding out the blue to his brother.
Tommy didn’t grab it though and instead rushed forward, hugging the woman. He felt like he just fell into a freezing ocean but he didn’t care. She was here in some way…and he’d make everything right.
He’d make sure Dream brought her back too and he’d make everything right.

Remembrance AU: Everything Is Blue
I've been trying to post these every 30 notes, but that happened within hours on the last post, so I'm sorry for not being done with this sooner and for how rushed it feels.
Warnings: Arguing ; Mention of Death ; Mention of bombs ; Unrequited[?] Love ; Memory Loss ; Slight Stalking ; Angst
Words: 3.7k
You hadn’t spoken to him since that incident after the festival. You knew your harsh words you had all but screamed at him had driven a stake between the two of you. It hurt so much more to think about now. You had berated the brunet when you saw him. He had messed up and you needed to let him know just how much. But when all that had left his lips in response had been a sullen “I’m sorry.”, your anger at him just increased.
“For what? I want to hear you say it.” He didn’t have a right to suddenly look so morose when just minutes earlier, you had found him cackling to himself over plans. Your form had loomed in the doorway of where he kept the wooden desk. You didn’t dare step foot into the room where such a stranger waited. His smile hadn’t been the same one you had known all this time and you actually flinched at the sight of it. You felt like prey. And now, after he had chased after you when you had turned to storm off, he thought he was allowed to look like he had been caught doing something he knew he shouldn’t have been? He had already told you the worst, even if he hadn’t done it.
“Everything.” The answer had caught you off guard. You hadn’t expected him to be so earnest in his apology. At your lack of a response, he had just shook his head, rubbing his eyes. “I have so much work to do.”
He turned to walk back to his small “office” and you reached out for him. “Wilbur, please-”
“Don’t follow me.” His voice was firm. That had been the first, and only, time he had used such a tone with you, but this had also been the first, and only, time you had yelled at him. You tried to hold back the sound that escaped your lips. You wanted to chase him anyways, but you had a discussion with Technoblade that needed to happen.
It wasn’t like you didn’t want to talk to him afterwards. You wanted to mend the great divide that seemed to loom between you two. But he didn’t seem to. He never spoke to you after that. Communication always came from another member; Techno or Tommy, more often than not. And now? Now you would never be able to fix things.
You still remembered the look in Technoblade and Tommy’s eyes when you told them you were on both of their sides. Techno had never once lied to Tommy or Wilbur about never wanting to re-establish L’Manburg, but putting Tubbo in the position of president had been done so fairly democratically. If anyone had had a problem with him inheriting the position, they could have voiced it. Instead everyone had cheered. You couldn’t fight for either side you loved so much when they were both right. Not after watching the third person you held closest to you get slain by the man who was supposed to be his father. You couldn’t lose either of them too.
Techno was a comfortable constant in your world. He was warm, funny, and the friendship between you two only seemed to grow with each passing day. You could ask him for anything in the entire world, and he’d give it to you with very little questions asked. So you helped him leave after Tommy and Tubbo set to rebuild L’Manburg. He was ready to change, he had said so himself. So much violence and carnage had left his hands permanently stained with blood. The voices didn’t help at all. You knew that. If you hadn’t have felt the need to help Tommy and Tubbo with the next phase of their life, you were sure you would have stayed in the arctic with him, away from everything that had happened. He had been more than happy to share the cabin he wanted to build with you. There would be a farm, he said, and animals. Your company was so nice, he wouldn’t mind sharing it every day. But despite how wonderful that offer sounded, you could only remind him that Tommy and Tubbo were still children and required more guidance than he did. He didn’t look happy about it, but let you go anyway with the promise that you’d come visit often.
As if anything could keep you away from your best friend.
When you returned, Tommy had sent you back to Pogtopia to collect the loose odds and ends that had been left there. It wasn’t much, just things that he had thought would help. But he couldn’t leave the process to run the errand. You were more than happy to do it for him. You knew he wouldn’t want the reminder of Wilbur, his mentor and brother in almost every sense of the word, being gone so soon.
When you had descended down the familiar walkways, you marveled at all of the buttons still left there. It felt more like a museum exhibit now than the place where the rebellion had bloomed. Aside from what you pilfered, everything had been, and would remain, untouched. Lingering in each of the “rooms”, memories about all that had happened in such a short amount of time started to haunt the quiet base.
There was a small chest in the corner of your alcove, however. One that hadn’t been there when you had left the night before the final stand for reconnaissance. You had been supposed to report back what you had found, but you had chosen to send Wilbur a message over the comms instead and visit the old library you had once called home rather than return and deliver it orally. Your leader wouldn’t have noticed either way. You were still back in time, so it didn’t matter, even if he had.
You knelt beside the wooden chest, opening it carefully. A sword sat inside, wrapped in a faded and torn brown trench coat. You ran your fingers over the material gently. The one Wilbur had been in during his death was a darker brown and wasn’t as worn. Why he had left it here, in a chest in your room, wrapped around some stupid sword? You pulled out the bundle, carefully unraveling the blade so as to not tear the fabric that held so many memories. lore was inscribed on the handle and you watched the blade shine with purple enchantments. Why in the world was this here? Your lips trembled as you remembered hearing Phil’s murmured recount of what had happened in the button room.
Had Phil not been there, would he have asked you to slay him with the very sword you held?
You dropped the weapon, hands clutching at the fraying fabric of the trench coat now in your lap. You hugged it to your chest, wishing its owner were here instead. It smelled vaguely of dirt and ink and the smallest amount of sap. There was no trace of the gunpowder you remembered perfuming his skin last time you had seen him in it. Was this how he wanted you to remember him? A former president who smelled of the dirt and sap from the country he loved and not the TNT he’d destroyed it with? A poet who spilled ink on himself rather than betrayed his friends? An elder brother who left quiet gifts for his friends and loved ones even if he didn’t know if he’d be able to see them accept it?
Tears stained the fabric as they fell off your chin like the rain that hadn’t seemed to come. Not even the heavens would mourn your friend who had fallen victim to the corruption he had sought to eradicate.
For the first time in a very long time, you felt completely isolated and alone.
L’Manburg rebuilt itself steadily. Phil had been a great asset to everything, and with the efforts of everyone, the place was just as thriving as before. You had made more friends beyond those who had helped in the rebellion. Your relationship with Tubbo growing more and more as time went on. He was a bright spot whenever Tommy or Techno were busy or otherwise couldn’t see you. You may have been close during the time of Pogtopia, but now it felt like you had adopted another little brother. It felt like you had taken the place Wilbur had left.
Tubbo would come over for tea sometimes, advice others, but more often than not, he came with new conversation points and stories about his week. He had been holding out on you. He might have come across as smart before, but the child was a downright mad scientist when he was broken out of his shell. You were glad he had been chosen as the president, even if it kept him so busy. You just hoped the power wouldn’t corrupt him the same as the two that came before him.
A small smile crossed your lips when you saw the boy across the river separating the two of you. You didn’t know he would be out and about today. You had just finished visiting Tommy, in fact. You would have invited him along. You raised your hand to wave but paused. There, peeking out from behind him, was the faded visage of a familiar beanie. Nausea settled in your stomach. Everything suddenly too hot and too cold. That couldn’t have been him.
Cold and empty black eyes turned their attention on you and you were suddenly reminded of a sword wrapped delicately in a warm trench coat tucked safely in your ender chest. You fled before Tubbo could see you too.
You avoided the spirit for weeks. Niki told you of how kind the apparition was when you bought pastries from her. Tommy mumbled about how forgetful the man was whenever you two had your weekly dinner. Techno described to you the odd personality the ghost had taken on whenever around. But you still refused to see him.
He, however, wanted to see you.
He was determined. After you had run from him so many times when he had tried approaching you both directly and indirectly, he sought for alternative methods to see you. The former president found that invisibility potions were the easiest way. He could follow you through the streets discreetly, see the expressions on your face when you talked with your other friends, stare into your eyes when you daydreamed at the docks and imagine you were looking into his once more. If he tried really hard, he could imagine that it was all directed at him.
Ghostbur missed you and he couldn’t remember why you refused to speak to him. You two had been so close. Did Alivebur do something bad to you to make you not want to even look in his direction? You wouldn’t even let him ask.
The rain had finally come around once you had stopped actively mourning. It was ironic, really. You predicted that the storm would be around for at least a few hours. Which was good. Crops needed watering and the air had started to take on a dryness that made your throat parched even with vast amounts of water.
You hadn’t predicted he’d come around with the storm.
Raindrops fell in torrents against the wooden pathways and dirt outside. It was a calming sound. You almost wished for some soft guitar to play an accompaniment to the natural percussion. The thought brought a sour taste to your mouth. Tommy had the instrument now, but the thing was old. Strings were rusted from many nights in the rain without being properly dried and the bridge had shifted from so much neglect. You wondered if the ghost could still play. You’d never find out, but you still crushed the curiosity the moment it had crossed your mind.
A loud knock echoed through your home, disrupting the incomplete symphony and you removed yourself from the warm couch you had been curled upon. You opened the door a little, trying to not flood your home with the storm that unleashed it’s wrath outside. A yellow sweater and red beanie came into view, but they sizzled in the downpour and looked almost like they were melting. Tubbo had told you of his weakness to water, why was he out in this weather? Why was he at your door?
“It’s pouring rain, what are you doing here?” You hadn’t meant for your tone to be as icy as it was.
“I didn’t know where else to go.” You took a small breath, closing your eyes as you tried to talk yourself out of allowing him inside. The small hiss of rain hitting his jumper filled your ears and you released the breath in a sigh as you failed to convince yourself. The door swung open wider and you stood to the side. After a moment, you looked at him again.
“Get in here before I leave you out there.” You watched the ghost scramble to rush out of the rain, and you watched him silently for a moment before closing the door behind him. Brushing past the ghost, you walked to your kitchen. You hoped some tea would soothe your nerves and the ghost would be quiet. Phil had given you a small bag of chamomile herbal tea that had lavender buds in it. He said it was to help with sleep and reduce stress and you couldn’t help but think he had gifted it to you for this exact moment.
You waited for the water to heat on the furnace. Once the bubbles slowly grew and rose to the surface, you pulled the pot off and turned before startling. Wilbur had been right behind you, watching the water as well. You recognized the feeling of hot pain quickly grow on your chest and you gasped, setting down the pot on the counter as you moved to pull your shirt away from the scarred flesh to prevent further scalding. Wilbur had yelped as well, some of the water having sloshed onto him. You looked up to him, eyes wide when you saw his arm start to melt.
“Sorry, are you-” The words died on your tongue when his eyes met yours however. The feeling of crying immediately replaced your concern. You missed his brown eyes. The ones that looked into yours so attentively when you were talking. The ones that flashed with his emotions, even when they were kept off of his face. The ones that looked like melted honey in the sunlight and rich chocolate in the torchlight. You hadn’t realized your vision had become blurry with unshed tears until you watched the grey blob of his hand put something into your own.
“Have some blue. It’ll be okay.” You stared at the mass in your hand, the small blue pile growing darker and darker. You looked up at the ghost, confused. “It’s blue!”
“Yeah, Wilbur. It is.”
“No, no it’s called blue. It starts out translucent and then slowly turns blue as it absorbs your sadness!” You scoffed, setting it on the counter next to the pot.
“Obviously it doesn’t work.”
“It does! You’re not gonna cry anymore, are you?” You turned to look at him again, freezing when you saw his smile. That stupid smile that shouldn’t have been so wide on his ashen face. You shook your head, turning back to put the water into your mug. It had cooled a little, but that was alright. It would brew okay still.
“Why are you here, Wilbur?”
“I told you, I didn’t know where else to go.” You slammed the pot onto the counter with a little more force than was probably necessary.
“But why me? You finally want to talk to me now? After everything you’ve done?” You spun on your heel to glare at the ghost that floated in your kitchen. The water on your shirt was cold now and sticking to you, but your face felt so hot. His smile dropped from his face and he looked stricken.
“I did something to you?” You bit your lip, feeling your throat tighten. How could he not remember?
“You ignored me for so long, Wilbur! I tried so hard to make things up to you after our fight, and what do I get? A stupid sword and a coat with too many memories attached. Like that would ever make up for anything! You know what?” You reached into the ender chest that sat in on the counter, throwing the bundle at him. “Why don’t you have it back, then? Load of good it does me!” You sniffled, feeling tears prick your eyes. You laughed a little, wiping at them with the back of your hands. “I feel so stupid. I missed you so much and yet you’re right here in front of me. So why doesn’t it feel like you’re you? Why doesn’t any of this make me feel better?”
The feeling of something cold touched your cheek. It was like cool morning mist before the dew and it felt nice against your flushed skin. You felt your lips tremble when you realized the ghost was holding your cheek just like he had the night before the festival. They didn’t smell like anything this time.
“Because I’m not Alivebur. I’m Ghostbur. We’re different.” You heard the sound of your tears fall against his hand before you felt them, but he didn’t pull his hand away. “I don’t remember what happened between us before he died, but I do remember you were very important to him, [y/n]. You’re very important to me.”
“You don’t remember anything?” You sniffled, starting to move away from his touch. His hand dropped back to his side.
“I remember a lot of things, but I don’t remember why you’re mad at me.” A half-laugh tumbled from your lips, but it sounded more like air than anything.
“I wasn’t truly mad at you until you blew up everything and died, Wilbur,” You paused. “-Ghostbur. What do you actually remember, then?”
You didn’t miss how the correction made a smile bloom once more on his lips.
"I remember saying I'd die for you multiple times." A snort escaped you and you shook your head, pressing a hand to your mouth and looking away from the apparition before you.
"I didn't think you meant literally. That was always my job, wasn’t it?” You felt him pull away your hand gently and hold it. The feeling wasn’t unpleasant, but you didn’t like it. His touch lacked the soft tangibility it once had and it was just another painful reminder.
“Let’s go sit on the couch. I want to talk to you again. I want to catch up.”
You nodded, your tears starting to dry a little.
He guided you to your living room, perching himself on the sofa before waiting for you to sit as well. The air felt tense as he pulled you into a conversation. After a while, the wind and rain slowed and were a quiet hum compared to the easy laughter and sweet smiles you two shared. You avoided the heavy topics. The ones that would make this kind dream dissolve back into the harsh reality that awaited you later when you couldn’t pretend like nothing had happened. Once the lull on his side of the conversation lasted too long, however, you turned to look at him. You were met with a warm gaze that held the spark of something you didn’t even know could present itself in the dead eyes of your once dear friend.
“[Y/n]?” You hummed in response. “I’m so glad I came here. You make me feel alive. For the first time ever, I feel like I can breathe. It feels like everything was so devoid of colour, I didn’t know what it meant until now.”
You laughed a little. “That’s not my doing, ‘bur.”
Ghostbur stood and moved to look out your window, watching the sun slowly set. You hadn’t realized the storm had stopped until you saw the golden light wash him in a warm glow that made him a vision to behold.
“[y/n]?” You hummed again, reaching to finish your tea that had been remade over the hours. “Why didn’t you love me?”
Your heart stalled in your chest. You turned your head and watched the ghost slowly turn to you and you furrowed your eyebrows. What was he talking about? “Please don’t look at me like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like you didn’t know.” Your mouth was dry, but you set the mug back down.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Ghostbur. We were friends. Of course I loved you.” He shook his head.
“Not in the way that I wanted. I-” You watched him fish some blue out of his pocket and play with it. “I really loved you, [y/n]. I wanted you to be by my side through everything. But when you seemed to continuously choose Technoblade, I felt like I couldn’t say anything. Now, you’re hurt by what Alivebur did. I know other people haven’t truly forgiven me for what he did. I haven’t either. And I don’t like hearing about it, but it still hurts.” He looked so sad, the blue in his hands growing darker and darker. “We can’t even be together now because I’m a ghost.”
Suddenly his eyes lit up like he had remembered something. You watched him immediately turn and make his way to the door. Navy blue pieces forgotten on your floor. “That’s it! There’s so much work to do.”
The memory of soft apologies spoken in a ravine echoed in your ears. Your heart picked up speed and you stood, reaching out for him as if to stop him as he pulled open your front door. “Ghostbur, please-”
“Don’t follow me.”
How many times would you have to hear that before the words didn’t hurt anymore?

This is a continuation of my last analysis on this topic, where I explained why I hate the popular analogy of Tommy and Theseus.
That can be found here. I recommend reading it first, as I included a summary of what Theseus’ story actually is, (as opposed to Techno’s… abridged telling) so if you aren’t familiar with the myth, that post should help.
It’s also really detailed and I worked hard on it, so you should read it for that, too.
It’s not absolutely necessary, though. I’ll give slightly less context for this one, but the parts of the myth I’ll be talking about are pretty well known (thanks, Rick Riordan), so it shouldn’t be too tough to figure out what I’m talking about.
Without further ado, here’s why I think Wilbur is a better Theseus analogy than Tommy.
First of all, I’ll again be largely ignoring the early parts of the Theseus myth in order to focus more on the stuff with Crete and what came after, as the early bits of the myth don’t really apply well to any Dream SMP character, since they’re largely about using cleverness to defeat evil monsters and that’s… not really a story beat that happens on the SMP.
So we start in Athens.
Wilbur Soot joins the SMP and almost immediately starts a country. Dream declares war (contrary to common belief, he was the aggressor), and wins.
L’manburg is still granted independence, but they’re a vassal state and Dream still has a lot of power over them.
I’d compare this with Athens losing a war to Crete, resulting in them remaining an independent nation but being forced to send tributes to Crete every seven years.
It’s not a perfect analogy, but it lets me cast Dream as king Minos and honestly that’s too perfect a chance to pass up, given they both share the fatal flaw of hubris- being self centered pricks who think they’re equal to gods, though the consequences manifest differently.
Stuff happens, Schlatt gets elected, none of it is really relevant to the analogy so I’ll trust you to remember what happened. This isn’t a perfect comparison, after all. The Dream SMP has far too many inspirations for a single parallel to cover it all.
What is relevant: Schlatt is the Minotaur, here.
The seven year tribute comes due, Theseus volunteers.
Wilbur and Tommy are exiled from Manburg, with plans to return.
Theseus shows off when he gets to Crete, and his charisma gains him allies.
Wilbur and Tommy are slowly joined by almost all of Manburg.
Ariadne offers Theseus a way through the maze without getting lost.
Fundy comes to Pogtopia with the Diary of a Spy, revealing that Wilbur doesn’t need to worry about the morality of killing Schlatt anymore because Schlatt is likely to die soon whether they interfere or not.
Ariadne is abandoned alone on an island after giving up everything to help Theseus.
Fundy is still a traitor in Wilbur’s eyes.
Theseus takes his ball of string and enters the labyrinth, prepared to kill the Minotaur.
Wilbur and co attack Manburg, planning to kill Schlatt.
Theseus kills the Minotaur.
No one kills Schlatt, but in his final moments no one is closer to doing than Wilbur, angered by Schlatt questioning Fundy’s manhood.
Theseus forgets the white sails to signal his victory, sailing home with blackened ones instead. His father throws himself off a tower out of grief.
Wilbur’s won, but he’s lost sight of his vision for the country he founded. Though Schlatt is dead, he still can’t see L’manburg ever going back to what it was.
He goes to the button room, and Philza confronts him. If Phil knew the whole story, knew why Wilbur felt what he felt and why he did what he did, maybe things would have gone differently.
But the ship’s sails are black.
Phil kills Wilbur.
What kills Theseus, in his myth, is when he loses sight of himself. He starts with a very clear policy: whatever someone tries to do to him, he’ll do to them in kind. Someone tries to kill him? Well, more fool them, then.
But then he starts just hurting people for fun, hurting people because it makes him feel powerful, because he thinks he deserves to be groveled to.
He kidnaps Helen of Troy, tries to kidnap Persephone, drives away his family, kills his son-
Wilbur doesn’t follow quite the same path, but the resemblance is there.
He starts out nonviolent. He’ll solve his problems with words, not a sword. But that doesn’t work. Dream declares war. Eret betrays L’manburg, and L’manburg is violently slaughtered.
Wilbur loses trust, becomes paranoid.
He’s president of L’manburg, and he cries in his pillow because if he shows even an iota of weakness, Dream will just snatch L’manburg right back up. (Or so he fears)
He runs for president, and loses.
And he thinks- if L’manburg has become this, become Manburg, a cruel place ruled by a tyrant- that’s his fault, right? It’s his country, he should have done better, should have made it more resistant to this.
He loses sight of the hope and camaraderie the nation was founded upon. If he doesn’t trust anyone, how can he believe in a place built on trust?
If he’s not the hero, he must be the villain, he thinks.
And Theseus loses himself.
And Wilbur places eleven stacks of TNT.
And even then, the analogy doesn’t really tell you anything, because Theseus’ story ends with exile and a cliff, and Wilbur’s keeps going.
Because in the end, we can draw all the comparisons we want, but they don’t mean anything unless we let them.
We are not bound by the limitations of myth. There are no fates on the SMP, weaving lives into stories, and life goes on after the climax.
Wilbur thinks, if he is not the hero, he must be the villain.
But Wilbur is a person, not a moral. He’s more complex than that.
They all are.
SO STOP WRITING HIM AS A TWO DIMENSIONAL VILLAIN I’M GOING TO COMMIT CRIMES HE’S NOT JUST YOUR SCAPEGOAT SO YOU CAN PRETEND DREAM HAS ANY CANONICAL MORAL COMPASS WHAT THE F-

◼◻◼◻◼
There was a darkness about L’manburg at night, and while most vigilantes helped deal with the stupid fighting rings and car robbers stationed around dark alleys and unchecked crevices of the city, there was one Vigilante not quite doing his job, and that’s who Wilbur had come to see.
Wilbur never really did night missions. Unlike some heroes, he enjoyed sleeping when he had the chance. Techno was out somewhere taking down a mafia kingpin, which to some might seem like the bust of the century, but for Techno, it was a normal Tuesday night. Wilbur never came along with those. To Wilbur’s knowledge, Tommy was back at home either sleeping or playing Minecraft with various friends. Phil was doing paperwork, as he was the night before that and the night before that (It never seemed to stop,) and Ranboo… Wilbur didn’t know anything about Ranboo. Honestly, he found the strikingly tall teenager unsettling.
And Wilbur should be sleeping, but instead, he was standing outside a fast-food joint at 3am, waiting to have a pointless conversation with a Vigilante.
(Mum had once said that this city has an effect on people at night. She’d tell the same story, that the stars over L’manburg were magic, and the darkness was like a blanket that made people calmer and happier. He remembered sitting there in bed, transfixed on the view from the window, her smooth voice drifting around the room and lulling him to sleep. She loved this city. She made him love this city.
Wilbur highly doubted her words now. He felt pretty annoyed under the L’manburg stars... Maybe it was just the light pollution.)
He looked up at the building once again; this was the address he was given. He wondered vaguely if Roulette would simply refuse to show up, which would honestly be wonderful because then he could go home and sleep and never have to think about it again.
That was the third time Wilbur had thought about sleeping in the last minute. He knows it won’t be the last.
The building was closed, and Wilbur was not going to fucking break in if the vigilante was inside, no sir. He would simply go home. He imagined that scenario. Yes, dad, the building was locked, and I couldn’t get inside. I didn’t see anyone, so I just left!
That didn’t seem like it would go down well.
The moon was a sliver of white light in the sky, and it wouldn’t be more than five hours before the sun would rise. While looking up at the sky, Wilbur saw a shadow on the roof.
Oh, fuck.
The shadow leaned over, and there he fucking was, that bitch, silhouetted against the starlit sky with a smile that could kill. “Hey!” He yelled; way, way too loud for L’manburg at 1am.
“Roulette, you are the most batshit crazy motherfucker I’ve ever had the misfortune to lay eyes on.”
“Getting off to a great start, there, pretty boy. Are you coming up or not?” Pretty boy?
Wilbur found himself smiling in an annoyed manner. Fuck this. Fuck all of this.
Wilbur found a ladder on the back of the building to take him up to the roof. He was halfway sure he’d get tetanus from even touching it, but he was doing his best and someone ought to appreciate it- appreciate it more than the sarcastic applause Roulette gave him when he reached the top. “Wow, the hero can climb a ladder. Riveting.”
“Roulette. What a surprise,” Wilbur grumbled, as though he hadn’t been meaning to meet with the vigilante at all.
The vigilante known best as ‘Roulette’ allowed a smile to play on his lips. “You know me, pretty boy. Full of surprises.”
Roulette wore a white button-down top and black leather pants, along with black gloves and a blue beanie. He obviously didn’t expect to fight anyone. And now that Wilbur was seeing him in a setting that didn’t have him fighting for his life, he finally recognized; Roulette was short. Very, very short. Wilbur bit back a laugh and chose not to comment on it.
“Well, you certainly aren’t dressed for a fight. I’ll suppose that’s a good thing.”
Roulette shrugged. “Just came from a meeting.”
Nevertheless, Wilbur smiled back at him, glad that the tone of this conversation was subtle. The earlier aggression seemed to have died down on Roulette’s side, and while Wilbur was still angry with Roulette, he preferred not to break into a fist fight on a rooftop.
“Oh, I know. In fact, I believe this is the first time we’ve properly spoken since last night, when you quite literally dropped in on my fight with Pyro.”
Roulette’s grin widened. “I had to step in, you were getting your ass beat by the bitch. Also, I’d hardly call what happened that night ‘Properly speaking,’ You cursed me out and I was gone before you even realized I was letting you take the credit.”
“Well, it was about more than just credit, starshine. You took my kill.”
“I thought heroes didn’t kill,” Roulette chided, walking closer.
“Not kill, no. I meant my catch, my mission- you know what I mean. It’s about honor.”
“Aww, did you get all worked up over it? You gonna call Dadza? ‘Oh, dad, I lost my catch today. Please bring me vodka and crumpets, I must drown my sorrows!!!” It was a purposefully bad British accent that Roulette was doing. It was only a little amusing, mostly aggravating.
Wilbur rolled his eyes. “That’s rich coming from a gambling addict.”
“The fuck? I’m not a gambling addict.”
“Your entire motif is casino; your name is Roulette.”
“Okay, at least I’m not named after a literal drug, Blue.”
“It’s the name of a color, how could I have known that Blue would become one of the biggest gateway drugs in the city? I’m a Hero, I stop giant robbery heists and I lock up murderers before they make a kill. I don’t deal with the drug ring. That’s vigilante shit.”
Roulette snickered, and the bridge of his nose scrunched up. “Oh, leave it to me to teach those poor depressed teenagers a lesson.”
They were closer to each other now, and Wilbur could better see Roulette’s face better. Wilbur had quickly realized that Roulette’s mask was gone. He wondered why Roulette had shown up knowing he wouldn’t need to fight and knowing that he had no need for a mask. Why would he decide this was safe?
He was very pretty, to say the least. He had one dark brown eye, like a wall of obsidian, and one milky eye that had a giant scar through it. The scar ran from just above his eyebrow to the corner of his lips, it was jagged and intimidating and Wilbur spoke before he thought.
“You have a scar.”
Roulette raised an eyebrow. “Oh really? I hadn’t noticed.”
“You’re always wearing a mask on missions. I heard rumors that Roulette had a scar, but I didn’t think it was that big.”
“That’s what she said,” Roulette responded within a second, grinning at his own antics. The smile was infectious, and Wilbur found himself beaming as well. He meant for it to be mocking but he wasn’t sure it came off as such.
The comments on Roulette’s scar didn’t seem to bother him much. Wilbur knew plenty of people with scars, heroes and vigilantes and villains alike, and they all seemed adamant about not showing them, not talking about them, trying to forget them. They were signs of failure, and Wilbur knew the feeling of failure all too well.
Roulette deflected any attempt to get under his skin with ease, and to Wilbur, that made him… sort of intriguing.
“I came here with an offer for you,” Wilbur said slowly, calculating his words.
“Oh?” Roulette replied humorously.
“Yes, despite how I may want to, starshine, I didn’t come here just to talk.”
Roulette frowned. “A pity, you seem to love talking about yourself.”
“Very funny,” Wilbur deadpanned. He reached into his bag and pulled out a small piece of paper, and upon closer inspection, Roulette realized it was an envelope.
“A letter,” Roulette stated more than asked, taking it and turning it over to check if there was anything on the back.
“From H.A, the heroics agency. They’ve seen you all over the news, and the villains you beat. They don’t know you finished off Mask, though.”
“I know they don’t. If they did, they’d make a bunch of public comments on ‘How far Mask has fallen, to be beaten by a lowly vigilante.’” He chuckled darkly, opening the envelope with surprising delicacy.
Wilbur frowned. “You make us sound pretentious.”
“I don’t need to make you sound pretentious, you’re already pretentious,” Roulette mused.
As he began to read the letter, his eyes widened slightly. Wilbur could see the reflection of the neon city lights in his eyes.
“It’s an invitation,” Roulette mumbled, expression unreadable.
“Yeah. Like I said, they’ve seen recordings of you, and they think you have real potential. They want to put you through hero training.” The words tasted like bitter ash in Wilbur’s mouth.
Roulette met Wilbur’s eyes with shocking hostility. “You mean they want to put me through hell?”
Wilbur’s eyebrows furrowed. “I don’t-” but then he was cut off by Roulette ripping the paper in half in front of him.
Wilbur stared in surprise as the two halves of the invitation floated serenely to the ground, and Roulette took a step back. Wilbur’s expression shifted to one of semi-amusement. He hadn’t been sure what to expect, but this was probably how Roulette would have reacted no matter what. “I mean, you could have just said no. That was a perfectly useful piece of paper.”
Roulette huffed. “I have more important things to worry about.”
Wilbur gasped with feigned shock. “More important than the environment?? Impossible!” He picked up the tattered pieces of paper. “I’m going to use these to make an origami crane.”
“It’ll be very small,” Roulette mumbled with a small smirk and raised eyebrows.
Without hesitation, Wilbur looked him in the eyes and replied, “Just like you.”
Roulette flushed with embarrassment. “You’re a fucking bitch, Blue.”
Wilbur laughed at Roulette’s expense. Roulette turned away, probably planning to leave.
“Can you tell me, at least, why you refused the invitation?” Wilbur asked. He didn’t know why he felt the need to ask, he thought he’d much rather get out of here as soon as possible. Something about Roulette had captured him. He wasn’t sure what it was.
Roulette stopped and turned around. His eyes traced Wilbur’s face, searching for something. Searching for a reason to be angry, for a way out.
Wilbur just watched him with pure curiosity.
“I thought I made it abundantly clear earlier,” Roulette mumbled. “I don’t like heroes.”
“What’s wrong with heroes?”
“I don’t know,” Roulette said, but the lilt in his tone said he did know. “They just seem stuck-up.”
“They just seem stuck-up?” Wilbur repeated.
Roulette sighed. “Like you said earlier… you’re a hero. You stop giant robberies and malicious murderers, supervillains and sub villains, you and all your friends act like you’re too good to stop crime you see every day. Like it only matters if it will give you publicity. Another gold star, another cheap action figure, and you’re happy… and I understand not all of you are like that, okay? But sometimes it can get to be a bit much. Sometimes it seems like half of you have forgotten your title.”
Wilbur blinked and crossed his arms. “I guess I get that. It’s not like we actively seek out crime to stop, we kind of just… sit around until we get news that someone is planning something.”
Roulette nodded. “Exactly what I mean. I guess…” Roulette rubbed the back of his neck, frowning, “You don’t seem too bad. Maybe you’re just stupid.” He grinned, losing all the melancholy. “That makes a lot more sense.”
“Well, I’ll take being stupid over being stuck-up.”
Roulette laughed, and Wilbur reveled in the sound.
“You know,” Roulette said slowly, crossing his arms. “You’d be a pretty good vigilante, if you tried.”
Wilbur cocked his head. “Is this an offer?”
Roulette snorted. “It isn’t an offer as much as it is a suggestion,” he said. “There’s no agency, no training to be a vigilante. You just kind of… do it. There’s a lot more freedom to it.”
“I can’t imagine there’s much freedom in being chased down by everyone around you,” Wilbur chuckled.
“You’d be surprised. We’re both technically trespassing on this roof.”
Wilbur looked down at the concrete he was standing on. “Hm. It’s fine for me, I’m a hero. If they find me here, they’ll probably just let me go on terms of ‘I wanted to.’”
Roulette smirked. “And it’s fine for me because I’m a vigilante, and they couldn’t catch me if they tried.”
Wilbur didn’t doubt it. “No, they’d probably take one look at your pretty eyes and let you go for free.”
“Pretty eye,” Roulette corrected, pointing to his scarred, cloudy eye.
“Pretty eyes,” Wilbur insisted, taking the vigilante’s hand in his own. His smirk was filled with mirth, and Roulette had trouble keeping down a smile.
“Fuck you, Blue. Fuck you. Are you some kind of playboy or some shit?” Roulette yanked his hand back, still grinning and if Wilbur saw right, kind of blushing.
“Not a playboy, starshine, just a flirt. There’s a difference, you see-” Roulette began laughing, a bouncy sound, like soda or seltzer water. Bubbly, that’s the word, Wilbur thought as Roulette tried to make him stop talking.
Wilbur didn’t know why he was flirting, or why he was using nicknames like that, or why his chest felt like it was going to implode.
He knew that he hadn’t laughed like this in a while.
-
He found his way home at what must have been an ungodly hour of the morning. Techno and Tommy were the only people up, and they seemed to be watching Hamilton.
“I’m just saying,” Tommy groaned, “I think his problems would be solved if he just punched Aaron Burr. Like. Just scared him away before the duel.”
“That’s not remotely how that works,” Technoblade mumbled.
“Oh no. Are you guys having Hamilton discourse again?”
Tommy turned from his spot on the sofa and Wilbur saw his diamond blue eyes light up. “The bitch is back!”
“Thank you, Tommy, what an eloquent welcome.” Wilbur set his generic hero mask on the counter. “Hey, Techno.”
Techno didn’t look away from the screen. “How did it go?”
“It went well, I think.” Wilbur flopped over on the couch in between his brothers with a sigh.
Disbelief shone in Tommy’s eyes. “He took the invitation?”
“Oh- no, not at all. He actually, um.” Wilbur held out the ripped strips of paper.
Tommy snorted.
“Yeah.” Wilbur turned to look at the TV. Eliza was singing her final song before death. Techno must have finished his mission quickly.
It took him less time to arrest a kingpin than it did for me to have a conversation. Wilbur didn’t continue that train of thought.
Techno blinked at him. “So then why did you say it went well?”
Wilbur shuffled through his thoughts to think of an answer. “Well, I mean- I just meant that he didn’t try to kill me, so that was good. We just talked.”
“Talked?”
“Yeah?”
“About what?”
“Nothing, really. Just banter.” Wilbur snorted. “I think he’s the only person other than you guys who doesn’t talk up to me. Not figuratively, at least. Man is short.” Wilbur shook his head in exasperation and lost focus on the TV. “He didn’t curse me out either… Called me a name.”
Tommy’s nose bridge scrunched up. “What name?”
“Pretty boy,” Wilbur muttered, and then wondered why he suddenly felt somewhat lightheaded. Pretty boy.
Techno raised his eyebrows. “Don’t go and get all blushy on us now.”
Wilbur rolled his eyes. “As if. Go back to your stupid musical.”
“This is a stupid musical,” Techno teased before turning back to the movie. Eliza died. None of them blinked. They’ve watched this at least forty times now.
Besides, Wilbur thought to himself, that was nothing compared to the things I called him.
Tommy hummed. “Well. Which one of us is telling Phil?”
“Not it,” Techno and Wilbur both said at the same time. Tommy groaned.
As the credits started to roll, he wondered why he didn’t mention the scar, or the eyes, or the comment about vigilantes, or- well, a lot of things he probably could have told someone.
Eh. It probably didn’t matter. It wasn’t like he’d ever see Roulette again.

Okay, so, I’m an absolute fool for the Immune AU. Something which has only been strengthened by more recent streams with Sam really becoming Tubbo and Tommy’s tired Dad as well as Tommy at the very least having what looks like a true immunity (jury is out on Tubbo). When I have the time I fully intend to write an Immune AU fic! I just have a couple additions I want to make.
I think Karl and Foolish should absolutely be Immune as well. In fact, to me it feels like they should have been the ones to build the portal but they had to stay behind to make sure the others got to the other side safely. This adds in a lot of interesting angst potential since the characters of Sapnap and Karl are technically canonically engaged. I strongly dislike shipping when the people playing characters share so many similarities with the characters themselves, but I think in honor of it technically being canon there’s room to forgive if people want that kind of angst. Otherwise it can just be regular angst over having had to leave Karl and Foolish behind. Maybe just making Karl, Quackity, and Sapnap a really close platonic trio instead for the people who still don’t really want to involve any hint of shipping, canonical to the story or not.
Another idea I’d like to purpose is the idea of partial, full, and pseudo immunity. Full immunity is found in the people like Tommy or Sam who outright are ambivalent or hateful towards the egg. Even locking them into the room with the egg for hours on end wouldn’t change their opinion (just significantly piss them off in the case of Tommy). Partially immune people are the ones like Puffy or Skeppy who find the strength to resist it but will slowly wane over time if they’re exposed to it too much. We can even add Punz to the partial immunity list and add in hints of the overprotective mercenary big brother au, possibly being more loyal to Tommy than the egg but ultimately loosing his life to protect the group. Finally we have the pseudo immunes like Eret and in my own opinion Tubbo. Either they’re so loyal to someone that they can refute the egg or they have a special blood line that gives them some protection, but their ability to rise above the egg’s manipulation is more so through sheer force of will than an actual immunity and even they too eventually start to crumble. Hell, maybe Tubbo stayed loyal to the very end and Punz sacrificed himself to give Tommy and Tubbo an extra week together so that Tommy could come to terms with things.
If you’re looking for SBI hurt/comfort then make Techno pseudo immune because of chat and Phil partially immune. Techno could hold out super long and we get an emotional heart to heart between Tommy and Techno only for Techno’s greatest weapon against the Crimson, Chat, to become his greatest weakness as the Crimson figures out how to make chat be quiet and in turn lulls Techno into its grasp. Phil on the other hand might have partial immunity but after being captured is tricked by the Egg into thinking that it can bring back Wilbur (which it kind of does by capturing Ghostbur and reviving a super messed up Wilbur.) Where as Pogbur was mentally ill, he genuinely loved Tommy. The first time Tommy confronts him in the button room there’s tnt under the room and it’s implied Wilbur doesn’t press the button because he doesn’t want Tommy getting hurt. He got really sick at the end, but he still loved Tommy. While I am all for an evil and abusive Wilbur during the Pogtopia arc within certain aus (cus sometimes Villain Wilbur is fun), canon Wilbur really was just sick and while that doesn’t excuse all of his actions, it speaks to a redemption arc and it isn’t fair to demonize him if a fic wants to go the route of him being sick instead of a villain. Crimbur would be the exact opposite. Only further edged on by a now sick Phil essentially trying to “repair” his family as a twisted way to make amends to his two youngest (something we might even see mirrored in an infected Techno who could perhaps realize how fucked up some of his actions were. Like offering to sell Tommy back to Dream for the favor, bluff or not it wasn’t a chill move y'all.)
I have a couple more interesting ideas/plot points that I would love to share, but, well, since I’m actually planning to turn this into a fic it wouldn’t be any fun if I spoiled everything. If this tumblr’s curator is chill with it I wouldn’t mind dropping a link here when the first chapter goes up.

Overnight Babysitting
(Heyo! Been a minute! I’m juggling like a shit ton of one shots along with the long form fic I’m desperately trying not to abandon so that’s why I disappear sometimes. Also being back with my parents is Not Fun so my vibes have been completely off for weeks. I do have something for you though! It’s fuckin massive too, it took forever lmao)
Phil turned to Techno and Wilbur one last time as he put on his coat to go. “And you’re sure you’ve got this?”
Techno nodded. “We’re sure.”
“Positive? I’m going to be gone all night.”
“We’ve got this!” Wilbur said, full of self assurance. “It’s not going to be much different than any of the other times we’ve watched Tommy.”
“Well yeah,” Phil agreed, “but it’s still a long time. I didn’t expect you boys to be alone this long ‘til you were older. This was unexpected.”
Wilbur scoffed. “We’re plenty old! Me and Techno are teenagers now!”
“Right, right. No matter what, I have to go so I suppose I have to trust you two,” said Phil. “You know everything you need to do?”
“Yeah,” said Techno. “We’ve got leftovers for dinner, keep Tommy entertained for a bit, make sure he gets ready for bed, put him to bed and get ourselves to bed.”
“And what does getting Tommy ready for bed entail?”
“Run him a bath, for one,” cut in Wilbur before Techno could answer. “Get him some clean pajamas and make sure he brushes his hair and teeth, then it’s bedtime.”
They actually remembered. Phil had been drilling that into both of the boys all day as soon as he found out he would have to leave, but he was worried they weren’t actually listening. It was quite reassuring really. By all means, leaving two thirteen year olds in charge of a child overnight was unwise, but it was necessary. Techno and Wilbur were capable boys. And clearly, knew what they had to do. Phil smiled proudly. “Alright, I actually think you two can do it now. I have to be going now,” he said. He called Tommy over and picked the boy up to give him a hug goodbye. “You be good for your brothers while I’m gone,” he said.
“I will!” said Tommy.
Both Techno and Wilbur knew that was a lie. They had been alone with Tommy before. As soon as Phil was out the door, Tommy would find some way to cause a problem for them. It was just in his nature. Neither of them could say anything about it, though. Instead, they shared the same doubtful silence and a glance of disbelief.
Phil set Tommy down, and opened the front door. “I should be back by morning, try your best not to destroy anything! Take care, boys!” He said as he left.
“We will!” Techno and Wilbur said in unison. Techno closed the door, giving one last wave to his father as he walked away into the evening light.
Wilbur leaned down to Tommy. “I know in a minute you’re going to become a thorn in our sides but can you do one good thing first? Run ahead and get the table ready for dinner. It won’t take me and Techno long to make dinner ‘cause we just have to heat it up on the stove.”
Tommy scrunched up his nose. “I guess,” he said, running off to the kitchen.
Watching Tommy run and disappear, Wilbur crossed his arms and looked at Techno with concern. “What do you suppose Dad meant by should?”
“Well, should typically means that it might not happen but he’s clearly fairly certain it will.”
Wilbur glanced to the direction of the kitchen. “And if it doesn’t?”
Exhaling, Techno paused in thought. “We deal. Act like everything is fine. Take Tommy to school, go to school ourselves, and go from there. If he’s not back by the time school lets out, then we worry.”
Shifting uncomfortably, Wilbur nodded in agreement.
“That’s not going to happen, though. He’s never not come back when he said he would. There’s nothing to worry about. What happened to the bravado you were showing off earlier?”
“Just a front, you know how I am. I don’t want Dad to worry about us. He’s clearly on some serious business. You’re right anyways. Like I told him, we can handle this, and I’m gonna prove that right now,” said Wilbur, shaking off the worry he had before. “Let’s get dinner now before the kid realizes something’s up”
The two joined Tommy in the kitchen, getting the soup that Phil and Techno had made from their garden vegetables last night and putting it on the stove.
“Look!” Tommy said, tugging on Wilbur’s sleeve.
Wilbur turned to the rest of the kitchen while Techno stirred the soup.
“I set the table just like you said! I even got matching bowls this time!” Tommy said proudly.
Smiling, Wilbur gently shooed Tommy away. “Good job, kid. Why don’t you sit down now, foods almost done.”
Tommy nodded and ran to his seat.
After that, the soup was done, and Wilbur sat down while Techno ladled out servings for the three of them. “Thanks,” he muttered to his brother.
Techno just nodded in response and sat down himself. “Careful Tommy, it might still be hot,” he cautioned.
“I know,” said Tommy. He blew on a spoonful of soup before eating it. After he swallowed he looked at both of his older brothers. “How come Dad had to leave all of a sudden?” He asked.
Both of them shook their heads. “He didn’t say,” said Techno.
Tommy shrugged in response. “Weird,” he said, turning his attention to dinner instead. He was only five, but he already understood his fathers idiosyncrasies. If Phil didn’t want anyone to know, nobody would be told, and that was the end of the story. It would work itself out, so why worry?
The brothers spent the rest of dinner just chatting and teasing each other, just spending time in each other's company without Phil there to reign them in. As much of a pain babysitting could be, it honestly was fun, just to have that freedom. Sure, Tommy’s usual little brother bothersome-ness increased without any real authority to stop him, but Techno and Wilbur could dish back out their older brother teasing more, too. Eventually, they all got done and piled up the dishes in the sink.
Wilbur stood at the sink. “Who’s on dishes tonight?”
“You, I think,” said Techno.
“Bullshit!” retorted Wilbur. “I did them last time!”
“No you didn’t!”
Wilbur stopped before he yelled back. “Wait, did you?”
“No, Dad said I helped out enough with dinner.”
“Then who did them last time? We’re the only ones who know how to wash dishes.”
“We’d know if Dad did because he complains when he does them,” said Techno.
“Did we-?” asked Wilbur, afraid to finish the sentence.
“Oh god,” Techno said, not needing the sentence to be finished. He checked the sink. “Well, the answer is nobody did the dishes and Dad’s been too busy with whatever’s got him occupied to notice.”
“Shit,” muttered Wilbur. “Split the work?” he suggested.
“Someone’s gotta watch Tommy.”
Wilbur shook his head. “No we don’t. He’s at that age where he thinks chores are cool because he can pretend to be grown up. We can rope him into this, easy. Watch,” he said, walking out to the living room, where Tommy was sitting. “Hey Tommy,” he said, putting on a grin. “Wanna help me and Techno with some big kid stuff?”
Grinning at the opportunity, Tommy nodded. “Yes!” he exclaimed, running out to the kitchen.
“Pull a chair up to the counter,” Wilbur said to Techno as he came in behind Tommy. “We’ve got a third set of hands.”
Techno did as he was told, and Tommy hopped up on the chair. “You know how to work this kid too well, Wilbur,” he joked.
“So what am I doing?” Tommy asked eagerly.
Tossing a dry dishcloth to Tommy, Wilbur said, “drying duty. I give you a dish, you dry it. Break one and we kill you.”
Tommy chuckled. “You can’t kill me ‘cause then Dad will kill you.”
“And it’ll be your fault we’re dead,” Techno said in response. “Let’s get to work now.”
The dishes eventually got done, with only one soap fight ensuing between them all somehow, and all the dishes clean. They were all dried too, and all unbroken, so no little brothers were murdered that night.
Checking the clock as he dried himself off, Techno turned to Wilbur in shock. “Wil. Tommy was supposed to be taking his bath like, five minutes ago.”
“What?” Wilbur said, also checking the clock. “Oh god,” he said.
Techno was already rushing to the bathroom. “I’ve got the bath handled. Get Tommy and get him clothes. If we hurry, we won’t be behind.”
Wilbur didn’t really have any choice but to agree. Techno had already set the plan in motion. The two of them had shooed Tommy off to the playroom while they finished cleaning up. He walked down, and found him there still, playing with some playset he had gotten for his birthday. Not even greeting him or saying anything really, Wilbur picked Tommy up, tucked him under his arm like a lumpy suitcase and went back out.
Obviously, Tommy struggled against his grip. “Wha- Wil!” he cried. “What’re you doing? Put me down!” he said, punching Wilbur’s ribs in defiance. “Wilbyyy!” he complained.
“You can’t baby-talk your way out of this, Tommy,” Wilbur said as he climbed the stairs. “We screwed up and now you missed you stupid bathtime.”
Tommy was finally released at the door to his bedroom. He scowled at his brother.
“Pick yourself out some pjs. Something you can dress yourself in, cause I’m not helping you and neither is Techno.”
“Fine,” Tommy said, running into his room. He returned with the clothes he needed.
Wilbur snatched them to make sure that they were a matching set, which they were, and that there wasn’t any reason Tommy would have trouble putting them on. No buttons, no long sleeves, all good. He gave them back to Tommy, and rushed him down the stairs to the bathroom.
By the time it took for Wilbur to get Tommy’s clothes and come back, Techno had filled the tub and already had the bubbles in. Him and Wilbur got Tommy in the bath and gave the boy his privacy after that, checking every so often just to make sure he hadn’t drowned.
Tommy came out of the bathroom, cleaner and in his pajamas. He still wore the same indignant expression he had from before. “Now it’s bedtime, right?” He asked, mustering up as much bite as a five year old could.
“Sure is,” said Techno.
“Wil, you didn’t have to pick me up like that,” Tommy said as he passed by the two and up the stairs.
Wilbur followed Tommy, as did Techno. “Well Tommy, the thing is, you have a penchant for being a brat and not doing as you're told,” explained Wilbur. “Sometimes it’s faster to just use force rather than try and talk you into something or fight with you.”
Turning back to Wilbur, Tommy said, “wait, what's a penchant?”
“It means you like something. Like how you like to change the subject when you’re being told off.”
Tommy just ignored that. He went down the hall to his room and waited for his brothers to come.
Techno and Wilbur just stood at the top of the stairs looking at him.
“Who’s gonna put me to bed?”
Both twins crossed their arms and looked at each other. Of course Tommy would pull something like this. “I handled the bath,” said Techno.
Wilbur sighed in annoyance. “You did. Fine. I’ll put him to bed,” he said, rolling his eyes as he followed his little brother into his room.
Tommy climbed into his little wooden bed and got underneath the sheets. He grabbed his favorite stuffed animal, a raccoon Wilbur had won at a fair and held it close. “Thanks Wilby,” he said.
Doing the obligatory tucking in, Wilbur couldn't help but let out a smirk. That kid knew how to press his buttons as much as Wilbur could press his. “No problem,” he said. “Aren’t you getting a little old for this though?”
Making a face in thought, Tommy nodded. “Yeah… but I wanted to tonight cause I’m kinda scared about going to bed without Dad. It’s lonely when it’s just us.”
“You don’t have to worry about a thing,” Wilbur said, ruffling Tommy’s hair. “He’s gonna be back before we even wake up, and me and Techno will be right in the next room ‘til then.”
Snuggling into his bed, Tommy smiled. “Okay!” He said. “Goodnight, Wil.”
“Night, Tommy,” Wilbur said as he turned out the light and left the room. He went to his and Techno’s room to get to bed himself. Or more likely, get in bed and stay up far too late for his own good.
Techno, who had already changed into pajamas and was in bed, looked up upon Wilburs arrival. Looking back down at the book he was reading, he greeted Wilbur but said no more.
Rifling through his dresser for a shirt to sleep in, Wilbur chuckled to himself. “Tommy’s something else, y’know? Poor kid just didn’t want to be alone at bedtime. It’s so weird,” he said, finding a shirt and changing into it. “You kinda just have to tell kids that it’ll be okay, but you don’t know that. It doesn’t feel like lying, though. It’s just… the right thing to do. You suppose Dad’s had to do something like that?”
Having closed the book due to Wilbur’s rambling, Techno nodded. “Well yeah, just think about it. I’m sure there’s dozens of things Dad’s covered up for us when we were little. We just don’t remember ‘cause we thought it was nothing.”
Wilbur got into his bed and hummed in agreement. “Oh, absolutely. I just think it’s odd how we don’t really think about it.”
“Well can you think about it quieter? I was reading before you came in.”
“There’s not much else to think about on that subject. I’m just gonna sleep anyways,” Wilbur said, taking his glasses off and putting them on his bedside table then rolling over to face the wall.
After some time, Techno too got tired, and set down his book before doing the exact same ritual. Glasses on the table, rolled over to face the wall. A mirror image.
The two fell asleep, despite Wilbur’s belief that he’d be up all night. Being around Tommy can be tiresome. They both slept peacefully in their room until a sound woke Wilbur up. Crying. Before he could get up himself, his sheets were ripped from him. Rolling back over, he fumbled for his glasses and put them on for a minute.
Tommy. He’d woken in the middle of the night, and was clearly upset. “Wilbyyy,” he cried, “I had- I had,” he hiccuped. “I had a bad dream and I can’t sleep.”
Annoyed, Wilbur pulled his blanket back up. “Tommy, you can if you try. Just get back in bed.”
The boy sniffled and pulled at Wilbur’s sheets in protest. “Nuh uh, I don’t wanna. I’ll be all by myself in there!” He said through tears.
Oh. Of course. The kid wasn’t scared of some dream he had or monsters under the bed. He was just lonely. Little brat melted Wilbur’s heart. “Lemme guess. You don’t wanna go to sleep alone?”
Tommy shook his head emphatically.
“Fine,” Wilbur said, already taking his glasses back off. He made some space on his bed. “Get in you little crybaby.”
His demeanor already changed, Tommy climbed in next to his big brother and snuggled in. “Thanks again,” he mumbled, already sleepy again.
“Yeah, yeah,” Wilbur said, also setting into bed. “Don't mention it.”
Finally, all three boys were to bed and asleep peacefully. Tommy wasn’t even a pain to share a bed with. Apparently, sleep was the only time that kid was completely still. Wilbur didn’t lose any sleep at all.
Like he had promised, Phil was back in the morning. It was still quite early, long before any of the boys would need to be up. He had stopped in the bathroom first, to get the first aid kit. His little trip had gotten him some bad injuries, but he could fix them up before any of his boys ever knew. And likely never would know. After that he went upstairs. It had been a sleepless night for him, and he was dying to see a bed.
Of course, he had to see if his kids were asleep first. Techno and Wil’s room was the first in the hall, and he popped his head in there first. Techno was asleep, his long hair splayed all around him and flowing onto his face. He looked over to Wilbur’s bed and couldn’t help but grin. Wilbur was asleep, a surprise of course, based on how sleepless the boy usually was, but there was another thing that took Phil by surprise. Tucked under Wilbur’s arm, fast asleep and smiling vacantly, was Tommy. For once in their lives, his sons weren’t fighting or getting up to something. Phil didn’t know what led to this moment, but wasn’t particularly worried with that. Whatever it was, it was just proof that his boys could handle themselves, and Phil was proud. Still smiling, he left the room and went to his own, collapsing onto his bed and finally sleeping himself.

Our brother, our keeper. also found here.
Tommy plays the protector role sometimes, too. Modern au/SBI is a family.
-----------------------
Wilbur
He supposes he’s felt worse than this before. Though in this moment, he feels utterly lousy. With an aching migraine and no medicine to counter it, he’s stuck on the couch, with the lights off. He can’t do much more than remain slumped against it, pressing his fingers to his forehead as he attempts to give himself a massage. It’s not helping much.
He cracks an eye open and rolls his head to the side when he hears footsteps on the floor outside the room. Eye sliding closed again, he turns his head away, feeling a nausea build up far too rapidly for him to be comfortable.
“I have a headache, Tommy. Please don’t bother me right now.”
“Okay.” Tommy’s voice is quieter than normal, and Wilbur is grateful when there’s no more conversation after that. He doesn’t want to open his eyes again to check for Tommy’s continued presence, so he hopes the child has gone somewhere else, preferably his own room.
Wilbur lets himself sink into a pain filled stupor. He doesn’t know if he’s fallen asleep or if he’s just numb to everything, but when he comes back to reality, his head aches just as much as before. Except, this time, he’s not alone. He can feel Tommy’s hands on his face, clearly trying to feel for a fever. Weakly, he swats Tommy’s hands away, feeling his stomach churn.
“Tommy, what did I say?” He snaps through clenched teeth. “I’m-”
“Sorry, Dad asked me to check on you. I went to the shop and bought you some pain relief, I thought you might want it.”
That catches Wilbur’s attention. He would have expected Phil or Techno to go, not Tommy. He stops trying to fight the child as he forces his eyes open, blurred vision barely focused on his youngest brother. Tommy’s blue eyes are the only things he can clearly see, and they’re filled with a soft concern that Tommy doesn’t show very much. Wilbur lets out a soft sigh as he decides to let Tommy work. It’s not like Tommy’s actually doing anything to hurt him. In fact, Tommy’s actually helping.
Wilbur can’t help but lean into the gentle touches that Tommy is offering. From gently fingers curling in his hair, to the thermometer entering his mouth, followed by a couple of pills being handed over to him with a glass of cool water. Wilbur obeys every silent action without complaint. It’s relaxing, and it’s all working to ease the nausea and head-splitting agony that had threatened to overwhelm him just moments before.
He barely notices when Tommy throws a blanket over him, before tucking a pillow under his head. He hums quietly as he allows himself to finally relax, drifting off to sleep.
“Feel better, Wilby,” Tommy whispers gently. “Sleep well.”
He does.
**********
Techno
He hates having a flat tire. He hates having a flat tire only a block away from home. Techno smacks the hood of his car out of frustration, too riled up to remember how to actually change the tire. He’s fighting back an anxiety attack, knowing this can all easily be dealt with, he just needs to call Phil.
It takes Techno far too long to work up the courage; this is humiliating. He’s not that far from home, he could easily walk. He could easily change the tire himself, but then he’d have to admit that he must’ve run over something that flattened everything. It’s too big of a deal in his head, and it shouldn’t be.
He dials Phil’s number.
It’s not Phil who answers.
“Tommy, where’s Phil?”
“He’s streaming right now. How can I help?”
“Nevermind, I’ll call back later.” He hovers his finger over the ‘end call’ button.
“Techno wait.” Tommy’s voice is low, soothing. Techno doesn’t hear this from Tommy very much, but he’s latching onto it anyway. “Techno, are you in trouble? Is it something I can help with?”
He opens his mouth to say no. His pride wants him to say no. Even more embarrassing than being in this situation in the first place is the thought of his sixteen year old brother riding his bike out to help him. He swallows his pride and nods, before remembering Tommy can’t see him. “Can you meet me? I’m a block away, don’t tell Phil.”
Tommy’s there within two minutes. The way he’s panting indicates he must’ve jogged the whole way, but Techno doesn’t comment. “Tommy, I’m having a panic attack and my tire-” He waves helplessly at his car, while Tommy’s gaze follows where he’s gesturing to.
“Oh, I get it. Don’t worry.” Tommy offers one of his bright smiles before moving closer to the car. Techno stands there, watching as his tall, lanky brother, maneuvers around the car with ease. Using the tools provided in the trunk to change the tire. He’s never seen Tommy work like this before. He had no idea Tommy could even change a tire! But it’s not long before Tommy’s done, and he’s putting the tools away.
“I didn’t...Tommy you-” Techno has no idea how to express his gratitude. This had been way less embarrassing than he expected.
“It’s okay Big Man,” Tommy says reassuringly. “Don’t worry about it. Stream with me later, yeah?”
“Yeah, yeah.” Techno nods, breathing out slowly. “Hop in, I’ll take you home.” He moves back behind the wheel and beams at his youngest brother. Who’d have thought Tommy would help him?
He’s glad it was Tommy.
**********
Philza
There are too many bills to sort through. Phil’s glad for the money he makes on twitch, he has plenty to cushion himself, but sometimes paying all the bills takes a large dent in his savings, and having to build it all back up for the next month takes a toll.
Most of the bills he has, he can pay online. Sometimes, he gets them in paper form, mostly as receipts instead of collection notices. Phil’s tempted to throw the pile of mail in the garbage and spend his money on the most expensive restaurant instead.
He’s already stressed as is. Not for any particular reason, but having to put on a show for several hours a few times a week does take its toll. He misses the time when he could just be himself, and not have to manage not only his stream chat but several other streamers’ chats as well. Being a mod for so many people isn’t easy work, and yet people keep asking for him.
He throws the mail on the counter as he sorts through it, putting some envelopes in the ‘already paid’ pile, and some in the ‘need to pay’ pile. That leaves one envelope that has him blinking. With a confused sensation swirling in his gut, Phil opens the envelope and pulls out the paper inside.
It’s the energy bill, and one that Phil had been most worried about paying. The energy had spiked the past couple of months, due to all four of them being streamers and needing to stream at the same time. It’d sucked up a lot of power, resulting in the bills being a higher price than normal.
This month, apparently, the bill’s already been paid.
Phil doesn’t remember paying it.
He turns to head up to Wilbur’s room, ready to question him about the bill. If it isn’t Wilbur, he’ll question Techno next.
“Hey Dad!”
Tommy pokes his head out of his room, still wearing his headphones. “I should let you know, the other two went out for ice cream. We’re going to stream in a bit, do you want-”
“Do you know anything about this, Tommy?” Phil asks. “Did one of them pay this?”
“Oh, that was me.”
“Tommy!”
“Sorry. I just wanted to help out. I remember how upset you were last month and I wanted to surprise you.”
“You’re sixteen, child. You shouldn’t be paying my bills.” Phil relaxes though, wondering if he should pay Tommy back. The teenager should not have to worry about finances yet, it’s not right.
“Don’t worry about it Dad, it was a one time thing to help out. Use the spare cash to buy yourself something fun, yeah?”
“Thanks, Tommy.” Phil returns the bright smile, even as Tommy shuts himself away in his room again. A few moments later, he can hear loud, boisterous laughter as Tommy gets on discord with his friends.
He heads back downstairs to add this to the ‘already paid’ pile. He’ll definitely have to treat his youngest son later.

I have an interesting idea for an AU: I've seen a fic where it's c!Tommy in the button room with c!Wilbur instead of c!Phil... What if, for whatever reason, instead c!Phil, it was c!Eret in the button room on the 16th? I just thought this sounded cool lol
Well, at the time c!Wilbur still fervently hated c!Eret. C!Eret with their betrayal is the one who pretty much kicked off c!Wilbur's paranoia after all.
So I think that him being there in the button room wouldn't have changed the outcome with the button. C!Wilbur would still have pressed it, perhaps quicker even.
I think what would change for c!Eret is that perhaps she would be more disillusioned about c!Wilbur. Perhaps afterward she would think about him as less of the perfect leader that the people need and more like a very miserable human being. Someone who hit rock bottom and couldn't find it in himself to go on.
Now, the question is: would c!Eret have killed c!Wilbur when asked? Would c!Wilbur even have asked?
I think the answer to both is no. I don't think that, given the chance, c!Eret would have killed him, but I also don't think that c!Wilbur would have asked them. Again: he didn't trust them at all.
But c!Wilbur would have found another way to go off regardless. There were withers and fighting everywhere, dying was sadly the easy part that day.
#anon ask#dream smp au#honestly I think that the general outcome for c!wilbur would have been the same no matter who was there#I think the only difference would have been in how the other person reacted to it

Dear Dad, We won Lmanburg, but we lost a lot. Eret betrayed us and we all lost our first lives in the control room. Tommy lost another in a duel with Dream. But we got our country. I-I'm going to be the best president- Dad, I lost the election. Schlatt and Quackity won and then exiled Tommy and I. Fundy was part of the mob. I lost my second life. We started a new country in a hole in the mountain. Tommy is trying to keep our spirits up. I'm not sure what to do, dad. I want to ask you for help but I know I can't- Dad, We found a ravine and Tommy and I asked Techno for help winning Lmanburg back. Tubbo is on our side but everyone else still hates us. Even Fundy. I'm not sure it's still Lmanburg. Dad, It's not our Lmanburg, I don't know what they've done but it's all wrong now. It's not a community, there's no freedom. It's gone. Everything we fought and killed and died for is all gone, now. The place Fundy grew up is gone. The place my little brother gave his two lives for is gone. It's just gone. Dad; I put explosives under Lmanberg. I'm going to use them if anything goes wrong. I have it all rigged to a secret button that only I know about. I'm not sure if I can press it, or if I should. Tommy says we shouldn't. Techno doesn't care. I don't know if I do, either. Dad; I think I might be the villain. Dad; I finally got rid of my stupid uniform. I got better clothes, now. They're for me. I have my beanie, again, and I don't look like the stupid soldier who risked his life for nothing. Who died for nothing. Dad; It's okay. I'm okay. Techno is right. Techno is right, about the government. About every government. The power just corrupted them. Just the thought of it did. I held the country together for years and it all has fallen apart. They changed the name to Manberg ages ago, but it only proves my point. Lmanberg is gone. Dad I'm never sending these letters. I know I'm not. You have no idea whats happened. There was a festival. Schlatt had Techno kill Tubbo in front of the crowd. The sick bastard had him planning his own execution just to prove a point. He knew about the TNT and got rid of it before the festival even happened so nothing happened when I tried to get us out of there. We had to run away from Lmanberg again. From the mob. From Fundy. Dad; I've never been so lost. Dad; I think Eret was right. Lmanberg was never meant to be. I keep visiting the room, I even rewrote the anthem. I can't seem to bring myself to press the button, though. I died for this scrap of ground and the rights of the people there, but they killed me for it. Maybe...maybe I should return the favor. Dad; Quackity left Lmanberg. He was Schlatt's husband and vice president. He's half the reason Schlatt won. He said he made a big mistake. He said he didn't understand. He says he wants to help us take down Schlatt. I think he's a spy. Dad; Fundy said I wasn't his dad today. Dad; Everyone is joining our side and they're all lying. They're all lying, they're all spies for Schlatt. If they hated him they wouldn't have killed me. They wouldn't have supported Schlatt every day. They would have left the second the election was announced. They would have left when he changed the flag. They're just using me. They're just using Techno. Dad; I keep visiting the room. The button is always there. I still haven't pressed it. But I should. Even if we win, Lmanberg is still gone. They people that made it have all turned against eachother anyway. Dream is with Schlatt. There's nothing left here. There's no one left. Dad; Fundy said that he was being a spy the whole time. He kept a diary. He's lying. Dad; They're all lying. Dad; I've decided I should do it. I'm going to press the button. I hope it kills me. There's nothing left here anymore. I want to die with Lmanberg. Maybe then they'll stop lying. Maybe then they'll understand. -Lemon
Phil reread the last line of the last letter over and over. The others gave him privacy while he read over the letters. It was heartbreaking to see the mental breaking his son had over the loss of the country he had built for freedom. Tears were slowly running down his cheeks before he startled feeling a weight around his waist.
He looked to see the little girl hugging him tightly. “(Y/N), when did you wake up from your nap?” He wiped his tears away before giving her hug back.
“Why are you crying?” She asked instead.
“I just...I read something really sad is all. I’ll be ok, thank you for the hug, it’s already helping me feel better.” He muttered. “You...really can’t talk to Wilbur at all?”
She shook her head and he sighed. “Why?”
“I just, I want to tell him I love him too.” He smiled sadly to her.
“Sometimes he hears me when I talk about my day, I can try to tell him then.”
He kissed the top of her head. “Alright, thank you kiddo. It would mean a lot to me.”

“Humans are [Add text here]”
Chapter 4: I guess it qualifies as an introduction?
Phil wasn’t expecting to wake up at 4 in the morning to the sound of laughter.
It wouldn’t be the first time, definitely not the last.
Curiously the avian poked his head into his kids’ room. The laughter wasn’t coming from the gardener, guard, or scientist. The laughter was coming from the assistant who wasn’t in their room. Phil turned his attention down the hall. Sure enough the laughter was louder. Quietly he made his way to the holding cell. Phil sat in a smaller hallway and decided to listen into the conversation… What can he say? He always eavesdropped..
“What even is a you-tube?” The assistant asked through small giggles. To that the human gasped as if he was hurt by the statement.
“You don’t have YouTube?! Or like an alien version of it?!” The human replied, not even trying to hide his shock.
“Erm no?”
“Well it’s like this thing that humans use to make really cool videos and stuff.”
“What’s a video?” Ranboo interrupted.
“They’re kinda like moving photos that usually work as a sort of entertainment or info dump. I could probably tell you thousands of the times my stupid teacher made me watch ‘educational’ videos..”
“So they’re kinda like illusions?”
“Yea but you don’t see 'em in 3D. As I was saying, before I was rudely interrupted..” The enderian let out a small squeak of embarrassment at that, “YouTube is like a thing people use to post videos on. I am totally making an alien version of YouTube when I get out.” The air stiffened at that.
“Tommy.. you probably won’t get out for a while…” Ranboo said, Phil heard one of them shift and the entire atmosphere lost it’s warmth, “It’s not like you won’t get out! It’s just hard… especially when no one really trusts you yet.” Ranboo swallowed, as he usually does when he is uncomfortable, “Even when we let you out of the holding cell.. you probably won’t be allowed off the ship. It’s too dangerous for all of us..” the two fell into a deafening silence. Phil shivered at the tension, making sure to be silent while doing so.
“I assumed as much…” the human started, being the first to break the silence, “I-I… I guess I won’t be going home either… since the ISF absolutely hates us.. plus like you said, only already crazy humans are sent back..” the human sighed sadly.. For the first time Phil felt sympathetic towards a human. With that he decided it was time to start on breakfast.
——————
Three things happened after Tubbo woke up.
One, Ranboo passed out at the table. Phil simply shook his head and picked up the enderian with some unknown strength to the rest of the crew.
Two, a scream was heard from the other side of the ship, causing Wilbur to frantically run to the holding cell.
Three, Techno put his milk in before he poured his tea… I mean who does that?
Ignoring the last strange thing, Tubbo went to check on Ranboo. He was fine, so Phil said. “He only needs rest. Leave them be.” Was what Tubbo got as he peered into the enderian’s room. Shrugging off the weird behavior Tubbo made his way to the garden.
Before he made his way to the garden he noticed the human wasn’t in the holding cell. That meant he was probably in the lab… Which meant Tubbo would have to meet him.. Oh prime no. That’s not gonna happen.
He started sprinting to the garden. It was just passed the lab if only he took another step-
“Tubbo, I need your help.” Wilbur said from behind him. The droneling turned around reluctantly. Holding his breath he made his way into the medical part of the lab.
[gore and distressed characters, skim if you need to]
There, laying on the bed, was a human. He held back a scream which came out as a labored gasp. Sweat was bubbling on his forehead. With that he turned to Wilbur who examined the human from a distance.
“Go get some bandages and the stitching kit.” Wilbur commanded. Without hesitation Tubbo ran to grab the items. Wilbur took both objects and disinfected a bad cut on the human’s arm. He hadn’t even realized there was a cut until Wilbur cleared off the strange red blood. Wilbur then proceeds to stitch the wound and bandage the irritated wound.
That’s when Tubbo noticed the amount of blood the human lost. Most species wouldn’t be able to handle that much blood loss, but here was the beast of the galaxy, completely fine in a matter of minutes after losing quite a bit of blood.
[End]
When Wilbur was satisfied, he picked the human up and carried him back to the holding cell. Tubbo was unable to stop himself from following. Before thinking the droneling sat at the table and watched as Wilbur finished cleaning the human.
“Er.. do you want me to grab Techno so you can stay in here?” Wilbur asked, noticing Tubbo sitting in the corner.
Without saying a word Tubbo gave a small nod. Wil didn’t push like he usually did and left to get Techno.
Tubbo got up and approached the sleeping human. He was skinnier than what Tubbo thought humans should be. There were odd dark circles under his eyes and his hair clearly hadn’t had a good wash for what looked like months. He had injuries over his body and was practically shaking in his sleep.
Since Tubbo was preoccupied, he barely noticed Techno enter, or the door closing. Let alone the clangs and thuds from other crew mates.
He was preoccupied by the strange human who was sleeping in front of him.
The human stirred and the droneling stumbled away.
After a few seconds the human sat up and looked at the now fallen droneling.
“What the fuck?”

Tommy didn’t expect another alien to push their luck in his space. But here he was.
The alien was smaller than Tommy by a lot. Further proving Tommy was the biggest man. Unlike the other aliens this one wasn’t threatening upon first glance.
The one from last night had been way more intimidating at first. Being way taller than Tommy and having weird lanky limbs and magical purple glowing orbs surrounding them. They had horns and a half and half complexion. One half of the alien being white with grey and purple freckles along with a red eye. The other half being a purplish black with grey and green freckles along with a green eye. They wore a suit with a red tie and dress shoes. He also had two tails of the same colors as his complexion. All of this being forgotten after they stammered through their introduction. It was honestly hilarious.
This alien was very different from the others. They had brown messy hair, encasing black antennas and small black bumps that resembled horns. Their skin was a honey peach color and practically glistened. There were strange hexagon patterns over their face along with three black stripes on either side of their face. They had bee wings, which was the only thing Tommy could relate to the alien too. There was also a black fuzzy tail, similar to a stinger, poking out of their pants. Their hands were lanky and pointed, completely black. There was also soft yellow fuzz poking out of their sleeves and holes in their pants. They wore ripped jeans along with a long sleeved green button down shirt. Their eyes were another thing entirely, being a honey brown in certain light but could also shift to a greenish blue in other light. They had fly-like pupils.
After a minute of them sitting in an awkward stance the alien got up. Using their wings to properly position them in a standing position. They brushed themselves off and approached Tommy.
“You lay a finger on anyone here and I will kill you. Understand?” The alien said, any intimidation that was lost from the alien falling was regained in an instant. The alien poked him in the chest with one of the lanky fingers, which started burning like acid after a minute.
Since Tommy was too, sacred, poggers to move he simply nodded, which is absolutely the best response to the situation. Sadly the alien didn’t get the gesture and dug their nail into his chest even more. Seriously, it was starting to really burn.
“Y-yes.” Was all Tommy could muster. The alien was satisfied with the answer and let go of Tommy. They walked out of the now open door. Shortly after Techno followed the door closing behind him. Tommy never realized the other alien was in the room.
[Mentions of abuse]
For a split second the interaction reminded him of his dad.
The way his dad did the same thing to his mom when she didn’t listen.
Or when his sister didn’t follow his dad’s friend.
Or when Tommy made a mistake.
Except instead of a nail, it was glass, or a punch, or sometimes a knife…
[End]
He shook off the thoughts and reminded himself that the aliens weren’t his father, nor were they going to do that to him.
They wouldn’t do that right?.. Right?
Tommy slapped his face, only to find there were silent tears flowing down his cheeks. He quickly wiped his cheeks and continued his train of thought.
Tommy trusted too easily. That in the end is how at nine he ended up getting beat up in his first foster home. He condemned himself for trusting the aliens. They were strangers. He knew nothing of them and they knew more about him. This was the moment in which Tommy shut himself off. Where he regained the ability to leave his blind trusting instincts.

As long as I’m with you - Dream SMP
This fanfic came up in my head a while ago, finished it recently and I’m pretty happy with it, the inspiration is how much I love the Techno/ Tommy brothers/friends dynamic.
This fan fiction was corrected by the lovely @im-default
~~~~~~~~~~
Techno has never been good with human interactions, so when pushing Tommy’s buttons too far, he decides that seeing the boy like that was never gonna happen again under his supervision... but is he willing to broke the alliance with Dream to save Tommy?
~~~~~~~~~~~
Warning! Angst, past trauma, a bit of fluff
Enjoy~
Waking up in the hole that was his room underneath Techno’s house was… Rough, it was always cold, and getting out of the blankets wasn’t the most pleasant experience, that's why Techno usually shouted from upstairs to wake up when the warmth of the fire had taken over the cold of the night.
But Techno was always wide awake when Tommy entered the comfortable home above his room, so, out of curiosity, he decided to fight the freezing cold of the morning and get out of bed earlier than usual, hoping to see what Techno was up to before he was awake.
Carefully climbing up, he peeked out the top of the stairs to see the candles and the fireplace were already lit, the dancing shadows on the walls upstairs made Tommy realize how cold it truly was, so after following the trail of warmth, he found no one home.
“B-big T?” he called out, finally getting to the top floor of the house, “Techno?” no one answered, the blonde boy looked around to find the man’s bed already done, like it was never slept in.
As he looked around, his eyes got distracted by the view outside the window: there was a blizzard raging on.
But if there was so much snow coming down, why wasn’t he here? Did Techno go out in the cold?
Getting closer to the glass, he couldn’t help but think about how pretty the snow was, everything was white… soft… cold and… a human?
A figure covered in blue was walking towards the house, the strong wind would reveal hints of red underneath the coat. Not to fret, it wasn’t blood, Techno never went outside without his red iconic cape, it was big, fluffy, and super warm, perfect for cold climates.
Tommy had the privilege of sleeping inside of it once and he had never slept better since.
Though, why was the man walking in a blizzard? And why was he so slow?
A surge of panic rose in the back of his mind when the figure started approaching the door, he wasn't supposed to be there- he was supposed to hide, he was supposed to-
“Good morning Theseus” the freezing air made the fire sway, serving as a dramatic entrance for the half-man half-pig. Closing the door with a bit of force, he snapped Tommy out of his trance: Wrong person, he wasn't supposed to hide from him, was he?
The smiling mask and the green hoodie of his warden still haunted his thoughts, as much as the big man he shared the house with ease the sensation of fear and depression he had felt, that creepy still smile was always watching from the corner of his vision. Yes, it was an illusion… and yet…
“I wasn't expecting you to be up so early “ Techno’s deep voice snapped him out again, bringing him back to the warmth of the fireplace, “Want to have breakfast since we’re both up? I don't mind eating earlier” taking off that huge and wet cape, he minded the blonde no attention, directly passing onto preparing a meal for two.
These moments of the two of them alone reminded him of how much Techno trusted him. When with others he was always on high alert with a sword at hand, ready to strike. But now? He had his back turned, focused on something else, his shoulders were also visibly more relaxed… He acted the same around Phil… And…
Wilbur…
“So are you gonna help me make breakfast? These eggs don't cook themselves y’know” Techno briefly looked over his shoulder to see the blondie froze in place, he wasn't good with people and emotions but it didn't take a degree to see that his thoughts weren't the most pleasant, the boy looked like he saw a ghost.
Tommy shook his thoughts away and started looking for the pan, grabbing milk, cookies, and some bread to toast.
The two had very different breakfast habits, Techno prepared toasts with eggs, no bacon tho, he wasn’t a cannibal, while Tommy ate anything sweet: cookies, cakes, anything goes.
One thing they both agreed on was milk, only because Techno couldn’t cultivate coffee beans himself due to the freezing temperatures.
“Thanks, big T” Techno nodded his head when handing Tommy his warm cup of milk, the sizzling of eggs getting cooked made the walls feel warm, comfortable even.
Taking a sip of the warm liquid, legs close to his chest and arms hugging them, he recalled how the day prior Techno had taught him to milk the cows he was breeding, with the number of inappropriate jokes he had made, Tommy was shocked Techno didn’t kick him out. People underestimated the man’s patience and kindness, of course it was for few to see the sight, and Tommy was grateful he was the lucky one in a million.
They ate in silence, Tommy didn’t go down a rant and talk for the whole breakfast, this time, the boy was happy with the silence, even if his mind was as loud as ever.
Techno took a bite and placed the plate aside, opening the front door to grab some firewood, explaining why he was walking so slow in the storm. Throwing it in the fireplace made sparkles and dust fly around for a few seconds, the man sat down and took another bite, “Why do you still trust Tubbo?” the out of nowhere question made him almost choke on his milk, “He has exiled you and clearly doesn’t care about your feelings nor well-being…” he munched on some more food, covering his mouth before speaking, “Why do you still want to see him?”
The blonde boy stared at the dancing flames in the fireplace, why wouldn’t he trust Tubbo? “Tubbo is… e-everything I have left...” Techno looked over him confused, “After Dream got my discs, losing the election and Will lost his mind… he is all I have left” dipping for a bit too long a cookie in the warm milk, he slowly munched, thinking back at when he, Wilbur and Tubbo lived in those high black stone walls, before Eret and Fundy, before the war…
“Are you sure you’re not lying to yourself?” It was Tommy’s turn to be confused, “I’m just saying, Phil, Fundy, Quakity, Ranboo, Niki, they were all there for you too…” Techno counted the people on his fingers, making Tommy’s eyes widen a bit, “But they all did turn their back to you” he pointed out, making a tightness appear in the boy’s chest, “… So are you sure you aren’t holding on to a lie? It doesn’t look like Tubbo cares that much about you-” “HE CARES ABOUT ME!!!” Techno raised a brow at the tone, “Are you sure he truly does?-” Tommy covered his ears, his body crumbling into a ball.
“SHUT UP DREAM YOU DON’T KNOW ME OR TUBBO!!!”
The room stood still, even the fire looked like it stopped moving, Techno shifted in his seat, eyes looking down in front of him. He didn’t mean to push that deep, he didn’t know this was a scar still open … but what preoccupied him the most was:
…
What in the hell did Dream do to this poor kid?
Even if Techno was silent, Tommy heard a million voices shouting nonsense right into his head. Squinting as hard as he could, he started feeling cold, the same humid cold he felt in his tent when he was alone waiting for him to get his items, his creepy smile… his harsh voice… his-
“Theseus...”
He snapped his head up at the man kneeling in front of him, Techno figured that by calling him Tommy it would have only made it worse, so using the nickname only he used seemed a better option…
And it was.
The shadows on the edge of his vision started to disappear, the braided pink hair and the preoccupied gaze made him realize, it was simply Techno… Wait- Techno? Didn’t he just say Drea-
Oh...
The tightness in his chest lightened meanwhile the knot in his throat thickened.
“I- I… I…” Techno’s reassuring smile beamed with light and kindness he had never seen before, “It’s alright Tommy, I’m here” he extended his hand toward the trembling teen, who instead of taking it, threw himself at him, hugging the man tightly.
“I’m sorry Techno!” Tommy buried his face into the soft fabric of Techno’s shirt, staining it with tears.
Techno wasn’t good at this comforting people thing, nor used to physical touch, hell it took his whole being to not jump at the hug. He was still kinda stiff, hesitant of what to do, but for Tommy, even if he was an annoying gremlin, Techno was willing to push all of this aside.
He hugged the blonde boy, caressing soothing circles on his back, “Shhh... It’s ok Tommy, I’m here” he looked up at the ceiling, thinking of how Dream had come searching for him...
~~~~~
“Do you know who killed Theseus, Techno?” he looked at the man, keeping a high guard, “I don’t remember the whole story… but he was killed by the king of the island he was taking refuge in after getting exiled” Dream’s masks tilted to his crown, and then his red cape.
“Either way” he swung his axe on his shoulder, shrugging at the other man, “I’ll come to collect the favour soon, farewell”
As Techno looked over the green figure walking away, something in the back of his mind started to sound an alarm, this wasn’t going to end well
~~~~~
Tommy’s sobs became quieter, the grip on his white shirt loosened, but the hug was far from over.
“As long as I’m here, Dream won’t hurt you…”
If the admin of the server ever came back to use the favour, it probably will be for Tommy, Techno’s guts were right most of the time, but oh boy did he wish they were wrong right now. He wasn’t sure he was willing to sacrifice the already delicate alliance with Dream for Tommy, he couldn’t decide what to give up, not now, not never.
“... I won’t let him…“
Techno wanted to promise him, but he prefered to stay silent instead of giving half-hope, instead of lying and backstabbing…
...Just like many did to him…
