Wanderlust

Pairing: Soldier Boy (Ben) x F. Reader
Summary: Your wandering hands are keeping Ben up at night.
AN: My nightly daydreams led me to Soldier Boy this time. 😂
I was imagining the Break Me Down-verse for this one (shortly after Checkerboard), but it can also be general Soldier Boy x Reader.
Word Count: 650
Tags/Warnings: 18+ only to be safe. Fluff, innuendo, Sleepy Ben, implied smut.

You traced down his back with light, trailing fingers.
Lying next to him in bed, with scraps of moonlight filtering through the closed blinds in the window as your only guide, your mind was still drifting even though you should’ve been sleeping.
You couldn’t help yourself.
You drew invisible patterns across his bare skin. Ben was warm, always warm, even though the AC was making the room almost frigid. You knew it was the ever-present radiator in his chest that made him your own personal heater.
You propped your head up better with an elbow on your pillow as you laid on your side. You then let your hand drift over every dip of muscle between his shoulders, every small freckle you knew just from memory, then down and down his spine.
You flirted with the idea of inching down the sheets, where his bare ass would greet you. From there, you supposed you'd decide what wandering direction your hand took next.
“If you don’t go to sleep,” his deep voice rumbled, “I’m gonna wake up and fuck you again.”
You bit your lip against a giggle, but you didn’t quite succeed.
“It sounds like you’re already awake,” you remarked.
Ben grumbled incoherently in response. He was tired, you knew. He’d just come back from a week-long mission with Butcher and Co. for Supe Affairs. Hence the long night you two spent catching up.
If you were honest, you were still tingling between your legs. Your thighs and ass were a little sore too. Likely they’d be sporting a few fingerprints tomorrow.
You didn't mind it so much though. You two now had a safe word for that kind of thing.
You smirked, sifting your fingers through his hair. It was getting long again. Maybe you’d trim it for him tomorrow, since you both had the weekend off.
Your hand meandered down the back of his neck, just to begin dragging your nails up and down the slope of his back.
“What does that feel like to you?” you asked curiously. You often wondered how much his invulnerability affected the way he felt things, especially the way you touched him.
“Like a tease,” he muttered.
You applied some more pressure with your nails. Not the way you’d scored his back about an hour ago, when he’d had his sinful mouth all over your body, but enough to be more than a tease. Enough that it would’ve left an angry, red trail on your own “fragile” human skin.
Still, you weren’t able to leave any marks on him. Just a faint whiteness of pressure against his skin that soon returned to normal when you moved your hand away.
“How about that?” you asked.
“Like you’re playing with fucking fire,” Ben said, though you heard the smirk in his voice. “Go to sleep.”
You smiled too.
“We'll pick this up in the morning,” he made sure to add, though he was already halfway back to slumber, from the sound of it.
“Oh, I’m sure,” you said, laughing lightly. You leaned over and pressed a soft kiss against his shoulder. “G’night, babe.”
“Mhmm,” he responded.
He groaned deep in his throat and turned over onto his back. Your smile remained as your body tensed in anticipation, but all he did was slide an arm under your waist and curl you towards him, trapping you against his chest. His hand splayed against your lower back, heavy and warm.
His lips brushed your hair away from your forehead and lingered there. He closed his eyes and let out a deep exhale. You did the same, relaxing against him. Your hand came to rest against the steady thrum of his heart.
Moments like this with him still managed to surprise you…but admittedly, less and less the longer you lived and shared together.
A girl could get used to it though.

You sat at your desk, staring blankly at the computer screen in front of you. The spreadsheet was a mess of numbers that no longer made sense, blurring together like static.
“Are you even listening to me?”
You blinked and looked up to see Renjun leaning against the edge of your desk, an incredulous expression on his face.
“What’s got you so distracted today?”
You shot him a glare and grabbed your coffee, taking a deliberate sip. “I’m just tired. It’s been a long week.”
“Sure,” he teased, crossing his arms with a knowing smirk. “Well, whoever he is, he’s doing a great job living in your head rent-free.”
You choked mid-sip, nearly spilling the coffee in the process. “There’s no he! I told you—I’m just tired!”
Renjun’s chuckle echoed through the office as you slumped back in your chair, muttering curses under your breath.
That was just the kind of work relationship you had with Renjun—teasing, sarcastic, and occasionally helpful, though you’d never admit that last part. He’d been a mutual friend of Karina’s, and luckily for you, she’d used her connections to get you into the company.
“As long as it doesn’t interfere with our marketing proposals, feel free to keep daydreaming,” he said with a shake of his head, clearly amused.
You sighed, rubbing your temples. The last thing you needed was to get distracted at work. The past few weeks had been a relentless cycle of trying to prove yourself, dragging your name into meetings, and praying the higher-ups would finally take you seriously.
Renjun had already managed to make himself known. Despite being in the same intern program, he’d been invited to several major meetings while you were stuck at your desk, double-checking numbers and responding to emails no one cared about.
So when your boss finally invited you to sit in on a big meeting tomorrow, you knew you couldn’t mess this up. This was it. This was everything you’d been hoping for—a chance to prove yourself, to show that you were capable of more than spreadsheets and inbox cleanup.
And yet, here you were, staring at your monitor while your thoughts drifted elsewhere. To Haechan.
You and Haechan had officially planned a day for him to meet your family—as your boyfriend, that is. They were already familiar with him, given all the times he’d tagged along with Jeno. Now they were curious, eager to see this new side of him.
The closer the day came, the more nervous you grew. As if sensing your anxiety, Haechan spent more time with you, lingering around whenever you got home from work.
“Don’t you have anything better to do?” you grumbled, half-heartedly trying to shoo him away as he lounged on your couch.
He didn’t budge, grinning up at you. “I’ve got a couple of ideas in mind, but you’d probably kill me.” His gaze flickered up and down, far too obvious for your liking.
Your face immediately warmed. “You’re getting ahead of yourself now,” you snapped, your voice rising an octave.
Haechan shrugged, the picture of nonchalance. “So what’s the game plan? We show up for dinner, gush about how madly in love we are, and then dip?”
You rolled your eyes. “Something like that.”
But his teasing faltered when he noticed the subtle shift in your demeanor—the way your shoulders tensed, your fingers fidgeting at your sides. His tone softened. “What’s on your mind right now?”
You hesitated, your gaze drifting toward the floor. “I have this really important meeting at work tomorrow—it could make or break everything for me,” you admitted, biting your lip. “Then there’s the dinner we need to plan, and after that, I have to come up with a way for us to pretend–break up. I’m still giving Jeno updates on this whole mess while trying to find my own place in case he actually does want me to leave. I haven’t even seen Karina since the arcade, and on top of all that, my coworker is depending on me not to screw up this presentation.”
You paused, exhaling heavily. “So why does it feel like all I keep doing is ruining things for myself?”
The words tumbled out before you could stop yourself. You froze mid-rant, shaking your head. “I’m sorry. I probably shouldn’t be unloading all of this on you.”
Haechan’s expression softened, concern replacing his usual playfulness. “Hey,” he murmured, stepping closer. “I’m your best friend—well, besides Karina, of course—but you can always open up to me.”
Before you could protest, his arms wrapped around you, pulling you into a gentle hug. He swayed you slightly, one hand rubbing the top of your head in a soothing rhythm.
“You’ve got a lot on your plate,” he said quietly, his voice steady and warm. “It’s okay to be worried. Just remember to take small steps before you try to jump ahead of yourself. Don’t stress about the dinner—leave that all to me, okay? Same goes for Jeno and everything that comes after. Let me take that burden off your shoulders.”
You looked up at him, your chin resting against his chest. “Are you sure? I’m the one who put you in this position in the first place.”
“Nonsense,” he chuckled, his gaze meeting yours. “This was my idea, remember? We do this, and you get to live an easier life. I’ll make sure of that.” He leaned down slightly, the corners of his lips lifting into a soft, reassuring smile. “I promise to make this life less of a burden for you, pretty girl.”
Your breath caught, the words hitting you harder than you expected. Suddenly, you became acutely aware of everything—the closeness, the warmth of his embrace, the faint brush of his breath against your skin.
You gulped, your heart thudding a little too loudly in your chest. What are you doing?
For a moment, neither of you moved. His eyes lingered on yours, unreadable but intense, and it sent a wave of nervous energy rushing through you. You couldn’t fall for this. You wouldn’t.
Pulling back ever so slightly, you cleared your throat, breaking the moment. “Thanks, Hyuck. I mean it.”
“Anytime,” he replied softly, his hands lingering at your sides before he finally let you go.
As he stepped back, you busied yourself with brushing imaginary lint off your clothes, anything to distract yourself from the fact that you’d just felt safe in his arms and that it scared you more than anything else.
“I have an idea,” he proposed, leaning slightly closer with that familiar spark in his eyes.
You sighed lightheartedly, already wary. “You and your ideas.”
He only grinned, unfazed. “This one’s a real one, I promise. How does this sound? I’ll order us takeout, and I’ll help you practice for your presentation.”
Your eyes widened slightly at his offer, and you paused, caught off guard. He noticed it too, his gaze softening as he watched you process your thoughts.
“No silliness, I swear,” he added quickly, raising one hand in mock oath while the other rested dramatically over his heart. “Scout’s honor.”
You looked at him then—really looked at him. His playful smirk had faded just enough to reveal something else underneath; a quiet determination to make sure you were okay, to make sure this went smoothly for you.
And just like that, you couldn’t resist.
“Fine,” you relented with a small smile. “But you’re paying for the takeout.”
He grinned triumphantly. “Deal. You get to choose what we’re ordering, by the way. I’m generous like that.”
You rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t deny it; takeout did sound good, and maybe, just maybe, his help wouldn’t be so bad. Even if he did goof around here and there.
By the time the takeout arrived, you were already seated on the couch, laptop open and presentation slides pulled up. Haechan set the food on the coffee table, making himself comfortable beside you.
“Okay, so here’s the deal,” he said, handing you a pair of chopsticks. “We eat, you present, and I give you my expert-level feedback.”
You raised an eyebrow, skeptical. “Expert-level?”
“Hey, I’ve sat through enough of Jeno’s late-night study sessions to know how these things work,” he replied, smirking as he unwrapped his food. “Besides, I’m a very tough crowd.”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help smiling. “Fine, but you better be serious about this.”
“I’m always serious when it counts,” he shot back, and something about the way he said it made your heart flutter just a little.
With your nerves settling slightly, you took a deep breath and began walking through your presentation. As you spoke, pointing at graphs and summarizing your key points, Haechan listened intently, nodding in all the right places. It was a side of him you didn’t see often—focused, attentive, and surprisingly serious.
“Okay, pause,” he said after you finished your first run-through, leaning forward with an earnest expression. “First off, you sounded confident, which is good, but here—” he gestured to one of the slides—“you lost me a little. The numbers are strong, but you need to explain why they matter. Connect them to your main point more clearly.”
You blinked at him, genuinely surprised. “That’s… actually really helpful.”
“I told you I’m good at this,” he teased, but his tone remained gentle. “Let’s go over that section again, and this time, think of it as telling a story. Hook them in.”
For the next hour, you practiced, tweaking your phrasing and pacing as Haechan offered thoughtful critiques between bites of food. He was playful enough to keep you relaxed but serious when it mattered, pointing out where you could improve and hyping you up when you nailed a section. It also helped mid way when Jeno came home to find you two together, he kept his distance and comments to himself, but couldn’t help to smile as he made his way to his room.
“See?” Haechan said finally, sitting back with a proud grin. “You’re gonna kill it tomorrow.”
You let out a deep breath, smiling despite yourself. “Thanks, Hyuck. I mean it.”
“Anytime, pretty girl,” he replied softly, his gaze lingering on you for just a moment too long before he stood to clean up. “Now go get some rest. You’ve got this.”
The next morning, you walked into the conference room with your laptop tucked under your arm and your heart pounding in your chest. The senior executives were already seated at the long table, their expressions unreadable as they greeted you politely.
Renjun shot you a reassuring smile from the corner of the room, mouthing a quick “Good luck.”
Taking a deep breath, you set up your presentation, your fingers shaking slightly as you clicked to the first slide. You can do this, you reminded yourself.
Haechan’s voice echoed in your mind: “Hook them in. Tell a story.”
And so you did.
You began strong, your voice steady as you introduced the proposal. You outlined the key strategies you and Renjun had developed, seamlessly weaving data into a clear narrative. As you reached the section where you’d stumbled the night before, you found yourself explaining the numbers with confidence, emphasizing their relevance with ease.
The executives nodded along, some even jotting down notes as you spoke. You caught glimpses of interest in their expressions—raised brows, subtle nods—little victories that spurred you on.
By the time you reached the conclusion, your pulse had slowed, your confidence solid.
“And that concludes our proposal,” you finished, meeting the eyes of the room. “Thank you for your time.”
For a beat, there was silence, and the anxiety you’d pushed down began to creep back up—until the senior manager at the head of the table smiled.
“Well done,” she said, closing her folder. “That was clear, concise, and well-executed. This has real potential. We’ll discuss further details and get back to you.”
You blinked, stunned for a moment, before nodding. “Thank you,” you managed, relief washing over you.
Renjun met you at the door once the meeting ended, grinning from ear to ear. “You nailed it!”
“Really?” you breathed, a smile breaking across your face.
“Really,” he confirmed. “They looked impressed.”
As you made your way back to your desk, you couldn’t stop the grin that tugged at your lips. You’d done it. The meeting you’d stressed over for weeks—you’d nailed it.
You pulled out your phone under your desk, typing out a quick message.
You: killed the meeting. you’re the best fake boyfriend ever.
Seconds later, your phone buzzed with a reply.
HC: i’m not surprised. told you you’d kill it. go ahead, admit that i’m your good luck charm ;)
You bit back a laugh, shaking your head, deciding to give in to his antics.
You: fine, you’re the best fake boyfriend and greatest good luck charm i could ever ask for. does that sound better?
HC: that’s what i like to hear, baby.
Tumblr media
“Here’s to being a full-time marketing assistant!” you cheered, clinking your shot glass against Haechan’s, the two of you seated in the cozy corner of a dimly lit restaurant.
It hadn’t been long since the presentation day and you were pulled into the senior manager’s office alongside Renjun. The memory still felt surreal—her sharp, confident voice replaying in your head as if it had just happened.
“You two have something the team can really benefit from,” she had said, smiling as if she already knew how much this meant to you. “We incorporated some of your ideas from the previous presentation into the current project, and the feedback has been astonishing. We’d like to offer both of you full-time entry positions and officially put you in charge of strategies moving forward.”
Joy didn’t even begin to cover it. Renjun and yourself had accepted immediately, emotions bubbling over as you practically floated out of her office, and then she called you back.
“Your growth here since you first started has been remarkable,” she’d said, her words lingering with unexpected warmth. “Continue to keep up the good work.”
The encouragement had sent you over the moon. The grin on your face hadn’t faded since.
Now, here you were—celebrating over dinner with Haechan. It was his idea, of course. He’d texted you the moment you told him the news, insisting you couldn’t let something this big slide by without a proper celebration.
Prior to the dinner, you had grabbed your coat and prepared to meet Haechan, your phone buzzed. It was Karina.
Karina: CONGRATULATIONS ON THE PROMO BABE!! how are we celebrating tonight?!
You sighed, leaning against the wall as you typed back quickly, realizing you’ve been so busy with Haechan, you never got around to telling her what’s really going on.
You: thank you babe!!! and about that… i’m actually going out to dinner.. with haechan lmao.
The three dots appeared immediately.
Karina: HAECHAN?! as in jeno’s best friend haechan?? the same guy who’s always flirting with you, haechan???
Biting your lip, you debated what to tell her. For a brief moment, you considered lying, but Karina was your best friend. If anyone deserved the truth, it was her.
You hit the call button instead, knowing a text wouldn’t do it justice.
“I swear, it’s not what you think,” you started the moment she picked up.
“What?! I was just starting to get excited!” Karina replied, her voice sharp with curiosity. “Explain yourself.”
“It’s… complicated,” you admitted, chewing on your bottom lip. “Haechan and I are fake dating. Just for a while.”
There was silence on the other end. Then: “You’re WHAT?”
“It’s a long story,” you rushed on before she could interrupt. “My family’s been nagging me to get my life together, so Haechan offered to pretend to be my boyfriend. It’s nothing real—we’re just buying me some time until they get off my back.” you lower your tone, thanking God, Jeno was gaming in the other room, unable to hear you.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” she said flatly. “This is the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever done.”
“I know,” you groaned, pinching the bridge of your nose. “But it’s working. Sort of.”
Karina sighed dramatically, though you could hear the smile in her voice. “Okay, but if you catch feelings, I’m saying ‘I told you so’ first. Good luck surviving a fake relationship with someone who’s totally into you.”
After hanging up and adjusting your coat, you took one final look at yourself in the mirror. If there was anyone who would tell it like it is, it was Karina. As much as she swore Haechan was into you, a small voice in the back of your mind insisted you were overthinking it. Maybe he just wanted some fun.
You couldn’t ignore the facts. Based on his past relationships, Haechan had always jumped from one person to another, or things simply didn’t work out at all. He’d brushed it off before, claiming those weren’t real relationships—just distractions to keep him occupied, but that was years ago, before the two of you had grown closer as friends.
Since then, he’d been single. So what if this “fake relationship” was just his way of chasing the thrill he used to have? A perfect opportunity for fun without the mess of commitment.
The thought settled uncomfortably in your chest, but you pushed it away, letting out one last sigh before stepping out to meet him.
You’d briefly considered telling Jeno about your big news—maybe even inviting him out to celebrate—but the thought quickly passed. The last thing you wanted was to hear yet another lecture or feel the weight of someone else rushing your success. Tonight was about you, and for once, you wanted peace.
If there was anyone you’d rather spend the night celebrating with, it was Haechan. That alone felt like more than enough.
“You didn’t have to go all out like this,” you said, gesturing toward the table, where your favorite dishes sat alongside the drinks he’d ordered for both of you.
“I absolutely did,” Haechan replied, pouring you another shot, his grin smug but genuine. “You’re a big shot now, Miss Genius Full-Timer. I figured it’s only fair to treat you like one.”
You snorted, shaking your head, but you couldn’t hide the smile spreading across your face. “A genius, huh? I’ll remind you of that next time you call me boring for working late.”
He laughed, leaning back in his seat. “Fair enough, but seriously, I’m proud of you. You worked your ass off for this, you deserve it.”
His words caught you off guard. It wasn’t just what he said, but the way he said it—softly, earnestly, without a hint of his usual teasing tone. You stared at him for a moment, feeling an unfamiliar warmth in your chest.
“Thanks, Hyuck,” you said quietly, and for a second, you let yourself sit in the moment.
Of course, Haechan couldn’t let things stay serious for too long. “Don’t get all sentimental on me now,” he teased, raising his shot glass with a wink. “To the coolest, smartest, and prettiest girlfriend I’ve ever had.”
The verbiage caught you off guard, wondering if he meant to say it like that. You rolled your eyes, but your cheeks flushed despite yourself. “You’re ridiculous.”
“And you’re the one drinking with me, so what does that say about you?”
You shook your head, raising your glass anyway. “To me, I guess.”
“To you,” he echoed, clinking his glass against yours once more.
The two of you lingered at the restaurant longer than you expected, your conversations flowing easily between teasing banter and genuine moments of reflection. Haechan had a way of making you forget about the pressure—of making even the most overwhelming days feel a little less heavy.
When the bill arrived, you instinctively reached for your purse, but he waved you off with a look of mock offense. “Put that away. I told you this was my treat.”
“Haechan, you really don’t have to—”
“I’ll start a tab and make Jeno pay if you keep arguing,” he cut in smoothly, flashing that infuriating grin of his. “Let me have my moment.”
You sighed but relented, tucking your wallet back into your bag. “Okay… but I’m paying next time.”
“We’ll see about that,” he replied, standing up and holding your coat out for you like a gentleman.
As the two of you walked out into the crisp night air, you couldn’t help but smile to yourself. Haechan noticed immediately. It could be the buzz from the drinks you two shared but something about being in his presence was better than anything else.
“What’s that look for?” he asked, narrowing his eyes playfully.
“Nothing,” you replied quickly, though you couldn’t stop the grin tugging at your lips. “It’s just… tonight was really nice. I needed it.”
His teasing expression softened into something warmer. “Anytime, beautiful.”
You looked away, suddenly too aware of how close he was as you walked side by side. Your heart fluttered for reasons you refused to admit to yourself, and you cursed the way he always managed to affect you without even trying.
It’s just Hyuck, you reminded yourself. This is just part of the plan.
As your hands brushed against each other, his fingers found yours. For a moment, you blamed it on the alcohol, but when neither of you pulled away, your fingers interlocked naturally. Haechan smiled at you—soft, content, and just a little smug. At that moment, you weren’t sure who you were trying to convince anymore.
“Wanna come over to my place?” he asked casually, though there was a playful glint in his eyes.
“Sure,” you replied with a soft grin, “as long as it’s clean this time.”
He groaned dramatically. “That was one time! I’ll have you know my place is spotless these days.” He paused, grinning smugly. “If you don’t believe me, I can show you how clean my bed is.”
“Nice try,” you shot back, rolling your eyes as you nudged him playfully. “Good luck with that.”
Even as you teased him, you didn’t let go of his hand, and neither did he.
Tumblr media
His place was definitely a lot cleaner than you remembered—actually, it felt more spacious too. Haechan took your coat from you with a small smile, letting you bask in the warmth and comfort of his apartment.
“Told you so,” he said smugly as he hung your coat up.
“You planned this out, didn’t you?” you teased, narrowing your eyes at him.
He chuckled, the sound low and easy. “Yeah, sure, baby.”
There he went again, throwing out those pet names when they were completely unnecessary. You rolled your eyes, pretending it didn’t affect you as much as it did.
You made your way to the couch, settling in as Haechan returned with two glasses of wine, setting them carefully on the coffee table. “More alcohol to celebrate,” he announced, flashing you a grin as he sat down beside you.
“So what show are you feeling?” he asked, his arm draping over the back of the couch, close but not quite touching you.
You glanced around his apartment, your eyes catching on his speakers. Bringing the glass to your lips for a small sip, you made a suggestion instead. “How about we just listen to music and talk?”
Haechan paused for a moment before nodding, a smirk pulling at his lips. “That’s why you’re the genius—you come up with all the good ideas.” He shot you a wink before moving to connect his phone to the speaker.
Soft R&B melted into the room, filling the air with an atmosphere that felt too intimate, too comfortable. Haechan returned to his spot next to you, a little closer this time, the space between you barely there. His arm slid along the back of the couch, and you could feel the warmth of him radiating beside you.
“What’s on your mind tonight?” he asked softly, his voice so casual yet so deliberate.
Him.
If you were being honest, it was all him—the tension that had been building between you two, the countless hours spent together that made the line between friendship and something more blurrier by the day. You’d felt it in the way his teasing turned softer, in the glances that lingered a beat too long.
Now, sitting here with his deep brown eyes meeting yours, you couldn’t deny it. The way his lips looked so… desirable. The way his hair fell perfectly against his forehead, sometimes parting in that effortlessly cute way. Or the fact that half the time, you forgot what he was saying because you’d gotten distracted staring at the faint moles scattered across his face.
You swallowed thickly and told yourself it was just the alcohol talking.
You licked your lips nervously, unable to stop your gaze from flickering to his mouth as you shifted on the couch. “Can I ask you something?” you murmured.
“Anything,” he replied without hesitation, his stare deepening as he looked at you.
You exhaled softly, your fingers tightening around your wine glass. “Why all the pet names? I mean, Jeno’s not here, so who are we trying to fool?” Your voice was steady, but your eyes betrayed you—they lingered on his lips, no matter how much you fought it.
Haechan noticed. Of course he noticed.
He shifted closer, the arm behind you dipping lower until you could feel his presence surrounding you. “Who said anything about wanting to fool around?” he asked, his voice dropping to something almost husky.
You blinked at him, breath hitching as the room suddenly felt much smaller.
“What if I like it?” he continued, his lips a breath away from yours now. “What if I mean all of it? Would that be a problem, sweetheart?”
You couldn’t look away—couldn’t move, couldn’t think. Your gaze fell to his mouth as your pulse raced, and then you felt it; the careful weight of his hand resting on your thigh, his fingers light but deliberate.
Your breath stuttered, and you looked down, hyper aware of every single point of contact between the two of you.
This wasn’t really happening, was it? But as Haechan tilted his head slightly, his gaze never leaving yours, you weren’t so sure anymore.
"I asked you a question," he murmured, his voice low and dripping with intent. His hands slid slowly toward your waist, fingers brushing against your skin in a way that left you breathless.
"But.. we’re just friends—shit—Donghyuck..." you gasped, his name falling from your lips like a plea as his hands gripped your waist firmly, his breath hot against the sensitive curve of your neck.
"Just tell me this isn't what you want, and I'll stop," he whispered, his tone soft but urgent. "Baby, can I touch you? Is this okay?"
His pleading eyes never left yours, and the vulnerability in them sent your heart racing.
The goosebumps on your skin were undeniable, and any lingering sense of shame had long since dissolved.
Your mind felt like a chaotic blur, thoughts sprinting faster than you could keep up. One moment, the two of you had been laughing over dinner, and now you were practically under him, struggling to remember how to breathe.
"Yes," you confessed. your voice is small, shaky but sure. "Please... continue," you begged, your words barely above a whisper.
A slow, wicked grin spread across his lips just before he leaned in, capturing your mouth with his.
The kiss started slow, deep but measured, like he was savoring every second, every taste, as if this might be his last chance. His hands explored your body with an intensity that made your skin burn, like his touch was the only thing grounding him to this moment.
Your body felt alive, every nerve ending ignited as desire pulsed through you. You didn't care that this was the same Haechan you had sworn weeks ago was just a friend.
Right now, all you cared about was the way he made you feel-the way you wanted him, desperately and without hesitation.
As the kiss grew heavier, your confidence swelled. You pushed him back slightly, straddling his lap, your hands finding the hem of your shirt. In one quick motion, you tugged it off, tossing it aside before glancing down at him breathless.
His dark, hungry gaze roamed over your newly exposed skin, his lips parting as his chest rose and fell heavily. "Fuck, baby," he muttered, his voice thick with desire. "You have no idea how many times I've dreamt of this."
His eyes lingered on every curve, taking you in like you were the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen.
Heat rushed to your face, a flush rising from a combination of the wine and the shy vulnerability creeping back in. Instinctively, you shifted to hide yourself, but his hands shot up, gripping your wrists gently but firmly.
"No, no, baby," he said, shaking his head. His voice softened, his gaze steady and filled with adoration. "Don't hide from me. Don't ever be shy about a body this beautiful."
Before you could protest, his lips descended on your skin, planting slow, deliberate kisses along the curve of your shoulder, down your collarbone, and across the sensitive expanse of your chest.
The contact was electrifying. Every kiss, every graze of his lips sent a spark of pleasure shooting through your veins. His tongue flicked against your skin, and as he tugged your bra off with a practiced ease, tossing it somewhere out of sight, the rest of your inhibitions melted away.
"God," he groaned against your skin, his voice muffled but filled with need.
His arms wrapped around you, lifting you with ease. The sudden movement made you gasp, your legs instinctively tightening around him.
Haechan carried you to his room, his lips never straying far from yours as he kicked the door open. He placed you down on the bed with care, hovering over you as his hands worked swiftly to rid you of the rest of your clothes.
His gaze darkened as he drank in the sight of you, bare and vulnerable beneath him.
"You're perfect," he said, almost to himself, as he leaned down, pressing his lips to yours again with an urgency that left you breathless.
His hands roamed your body, his touch igniting every inch of your skin, and as his own clothes joined the pile on the floor, all you could think was how badly you needed him.
“You’re always trying to deny me, but look at this,” he proceeds to hold your legs apart, his fingers slowly grazing against your core, covering them in your wetness as you let out a groan.
He hovers over you once more—shoving his fingers in your mouth. “So fucking wet for me and I haven’t even fucked you yet. Go ahead baby, taste yourself for me.”
You ran your tongue along his soaked fingers, savoring every trace of yourself before sucking on them greedily. When your taste was no longer there, all you could think about was wanting to taste him instead.
“Fuck,” he curses out, his eyes watching as you take his fingers between your lips. His cock starts twitching when your tongue starts lapping against them.
“Please, Hyuck..” you pleaded, your voice trembling with need.
“Speak up,” he grabs you by your thighs and yanks you closer to his mouth. “Tell me what you want and how you want it.”
“I... I want to feel your mouth please. Please, Hyuck, I want you to fuck me,” you look down and find his eyes locked on you, looking nearly possessed.
You felt his breath against your cunt as he let out a low laugh laced with something dark. Before you could say anything— he laps his tongue slowly against your entrance, making sure to savor every part of you.
“Holy fuck…” you gasped, the pressure and intensity building as his pace quickened. Who would’ve guessed your best friend had such a way with his mouth?
The lewd sounds of your cunt get louder as he shoves two fingers inside of you, and he begins sucking on your clit. He gave you no time to catch your breath, keeping his relentless pace until he finally found your sweet spot, making you squirm.
“Tastes so fucking good—I should’ve done this the first time I laid eyes on you. Look at you, my pretty girl is going crazy while I fuck you with just my fingers,” he fastens his pace against your spot and starts attacking your swollen clit with his tongue again.
You swore on your life you saw stars—and you hadn’t even finished yet. Your body was teetering on the edge, the feeling overwhelming, when suddenly he stopped.
Your head snapped towards his bedside table, the moment interrupted by the buzz of your phone vibrating against the wood. The flashing light of the screen read: Incoming Call: Jeno (Brother).
Your eyes widened, heat rushing to your face, but before you could even process the situation, Haechan was already looking at you, his expression unreadable.
“Don’t stop,” you pleaded, your voice trembling with desperation. “Please, Hyuck, I’m so close. Just ignore it.”
But instead of obliging, he pulled his fingers out of you with maddening precision, leaving you gasping at the sudden emptiness. His other hand reached for your phone, and before you could protest, he handed it to you.
“Pick it up,” he said firmly, his tone low and serious, a dangerous glint in his eyes.
“What—” you started, your voice barely above a whisper, but he cut you off.
Without warning, he answered the call for you, setting it on speaker.
“Where are you? You’ve been out all night, and you’re not answering my texts. Are you okay?” Jeno’s familiar voice rang out, concern laced with irritation.
Your breath hitched, shame and annoyance flashing across your face as you met Haechan’s gaze. His lips curved into the faintest smirk, his hand now resting possessively on your thigh, fingers tracing patterns.
As you open your mouth to answer, Haechan holds his cock against your folds, slowly gliding it against the mess he caused, leaving you breathless once again.
“I-I’m okay. I’m with Karina.” You bite your lip trying to suppress a moan as you watch Haechan start to insert himself into you slowly.
“Okay, that’s fine. Are you going to sleep over at her place tonight or do you need me to come and get you?” He asked, completely unaware of the situation.
You can’t do this. The feeling of his length stretching you— filling you up slowly was too much for you to handle. You started to feel your eyes rolling back.
“Hello?? I asked you a question,” Jeno’s voice snapped through the speaker.
Your eyes flew open, and you were met with Haechan’s piercing gaze. His expression was dangerously calm, but the slow, deliberate way he began to withdraw from you sent a clear message, answer him.
“No!” you yelled abruptly, your voice shaky and desperate. “No, don’t pick me up! I—I’m sleeping over at Karina’s. I’ll text you in the morning, bye!”
“Um, okay, but—”
You hung up on him before he could finish, tossing the phone onto the table and turning to Haechan with a pout.
He snickers at you, shoving his length deeper into you. “Good girl. Since you did so well for me, I’ll let you cum around my cock. Huh baby, is that what you want?” He teases as his hips start moving faster.
“Yes, fuck” you moan. “Please Donghyuck, don’t stop—don’t stop!” You move your hips, bringing yourself closer to him. You take in every inch of feeling as his tip continues hitting the same spot from earlier—and his balls slapping against your lips with each thrust.
“You just couldn’t wait for this, hm? Years of teasing me and you could’ve had this all along, shit—“ he seethes as he feels your walls clench around him.
“This sweet pussy is all mine, right baby?” Haechan grabs your chin and holds your face, locking eye contact.
His eyes burned with an intensity you’d never seen before, locking onto you with an unwavering focus that made your breath catch. Your mouth was dry, parted slightly, but no sound escaped—and he noticed. The way his gaze flicked to your lips, sharp and deliberate, sent a shiver down your spine.
He spits into your mouth and pounds harder, “answer me now.”
“It’s all yours, Donghyuck!” You scream, then swallow, gaining your voice back and your walls squeezing against him again as you're about to reach your high.
He smirks and to finish you off he attaches his lips to your hardened nipples, playing with them as he focuses on your walls clenching around him.
“Donghyuck!” You scream one last time as you cum around him, your body giving in and your nails practically clawing down his back as you cling onto him for your sanity.
He lets out a high pitched moan, music to your ears as he caught up to his release shortly after, dumping his load onto your stomach. He slumps himself right beside you as you both catch your breath.
What. Just. Happened.
You lay there, staring at the ceiling, your chest rising and falling as you tried to catch your breath. A whirlwind of thoughts raced through your mind as you kept asking yourself the same questions. You wanted to wish for regret, to muster the energy to question him—or maybe even sneak away. But your body was too drained, and a bigger part of you didn’t want to leave.
“Are you okay?” Haechan’s voice broke the silence, soft yet laced with concern as the two of you began to recover.
“Yeah, I’m good. Um… are you okay?” you asked awkwardly, your voice quieter than you intended.
You heard the smallest chuckle escape his lips, warm and teasing in a way that made your cheeks flush. “A thousand times more than just okay,” he murmured, his words sending a strange mix of comfort and flustered warmth through you.
He sat up, reaching over to the side table to grab a tissue. Gently, he cleaned you up, his touch careful and deliberate, as if he were handling something precious.
“What… what was that?” you asked carefully, your voice soft and unsure, afraid to ruin the moment.
“Call it your congratulations present,” he replied, a teasing smile tugging at his lips. “We can talk more about it in the morning, yeah? For now, let me take care of you and get you to sleep before Jeno starts figuring out you’re not actually at Karina’s.”
You let out a small shriek, covering your face with your hands. “What did you make me do?!”
He laughed, pulling you into his arms as he tugged the quilt over the both of you. “Relax,” he said, his voice warm and amused. “You played it off really well.”
Groaning into his chest, you felt a wave of embarrassment wash over you, but it was quickly replaced by something deeper—a warmth, a sense of safety you hadn’t felt in a long time.
“Fine,” you mumbled, your voice muffled against him. “We’ll talk about it in the morning.”
His arms tightened around you, and he kissed the top of your head, his lips lingering just enough to make your heart flutter. As his steady breaths surrounded you, you found yourself growing drowsy, your body relaxing in the comfort of his embrace.
And just for tonight, you allowed yourself to believe that this wasn’t just pretend.

Rafe Cameron x Reader

Word Count: 1.7k+
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You leaned your head on Rafe's shoulder, his hand rubbing your swollen belly as you were handed yet another gift.
You were grateful for this baby shower that Rose had put together but you couldn't help the fact that you were absolutely exhausted.
You were in no way prepared for how much pregnancy took a toll on your body. Especially in the third trimester.
You held the tiny pink blanket up. The soft fabric was lined with silk and it was absolutely adorable.
"And when you finally tell us her name, we'll get it stitched on there. Along with her birthday." Sarah said with a smile as her and John B watched you examine their gift.
"It's perfect," You say. "And her name will be revealed once she's born." You chuckle.
"I can't believe you're making us wait," John B whines, rolling his eyes.
"She's gonna be here any day now," Rafe smiled, looking down at you. "And this has been great but Y/N really needs to get some rest."
"But there is still more presents!" Rose whines.
"And she will open them later," Rafe scolds. "She's exhausted."
You were practically falling asleep in Rafe's arms.
"Alright, fine," Rose says as she stands up. "For anyone who would like to continue celebrating, join me in the back yard!"
John B and Sarah stay behind, cleaning up the mess of wrapping paper that littered the living room.
"I'm going to take her up to bed," Rafe said as he stood up and pulled you off the couch.
"Rafe, no, too fat." You grumbled as you felt him try to lift you. "I can do it."
"Baby-"
"I can do it!"
John B and Sarah laugh as you fall back on the couch, obviously too tired to move.
Rafe sighs before bending over and scooping you into his arms.
"Rafe, no-"
"Shhhh," He says, picking you up effortlessly. "Uhm, do you guys need me to-"
"Go," Sarah says with a smile. "We got it."
Rafe offers a small smile before carrying you upstairs to the room the two of you shared. Rose had turned the guest room next to Rafe's room into a nursery. The two rooms sat in a part of the house that was mostly cut off from the rest. It was the perfect little corner for the two of you and your baby while you saved up for your own place.
Rafe laid you down on the bed and pulled the covers over the two of you as he crawled in next to you and cradled your belly. "Get some rest, Mama." He said, placing a kiss on your temple.
"Rafe..." You whispered.
"Yes?"
You could feel his fingers trail over your skin. The way he cared for you and was so gentle and excited for your baby, you couldn't wait anymore. You had to tell him.
"I love you." You say as you look up to meet his eyes.
His breath caught in his throat as he registered your words. "W-what?"
You giggled. "I love you, Rafe. You're amazing. And you're going to be an amazing dad. I know we've been doing this whole pregnancy thing in kind of a weird way but I'd kind of like to be a real a fami-"
Rafe pressed his lips to yours, caressing your cheek as he deepened the kiss. "I've been in love with you for so long," He admitted against your lips. "I want all of this. I want us. I want our baby. I want to be a family."
You smiled at his response. He'd changed so much since you found out you were pregnant. He quit coke. He worked hard. He was constantly at your side making sure you had everything you needed. You practically had to pull him off you so you could go check on John B.
You could see his eyes swelling with tears. "What's wrong, baby?" You asked as you cupped his cheek.
"Nothing," He shook his head as a tear fell from his eye. "I just have my dream girl and I get to meet my fucking daughter soon. My life is perfect."
You couldn't help but tear up at his words. You ran your fingers through his hair as he rested his head on your shoulder. It wasn't long before the two of you drifted off to sleep.
———-
"AHHHHH!" You screamed as you shot up in bed. "Oh my fucking God!"
"What is it baby?!" Rafe asked eagerly as he quickly flipped on the lamp.
"It fucking hurts!" You spit. "Rafe...Rafe I think I'm contracting." You're barely able to get the words out.
"Oh, fuck. Okay!" He yells as he hops out of bed. He opens the door and yells into the hallway. "Dad! Rose!"
"Fuck, FUCK!" You scream.
"Okay, hold on baby, I have your bag." Rafe runs to his closet and pulls out the bag he had packed for you for when the time finally came. "Rose!" He screams again.
"I'm coming! What is it?" She says as her and Ward enter the room. "Oh, okay!"
Rose is by your side instantly, helping you off the bed.
"Ah! I can't-" You say as you fall to the floor. "I can't walk, it hurts so much."
"I got you baby," Rafe says, once again scooping you into his arms with minimal effort.
"Ward, start the car!" Rose commands as she grabs your bag and you all head downstairs.
Rafe climbs into the back seat with you. You dig your nails into his arm as another contraction invades your body.
"It's okay, sweet girl." Rafe says as he presses his lips to your forehead. "Just breathe with me, okay?" He holds your swollen belly up, relieving some of the pressure so you're able to catch your breath.
You can feel the car speeding to the hospital. You can hear Ward and Rose arguing in the front seat. You can feel Rafe wrapped around you, whispering sweetly into your ear. But you couldn't help the black haze that was washing over your vision as you lost consciousness.
"Hey, hey!" Rafe said as he lightly tapped your cheek. "Y/N, baby, stay with me!"
"We're almost there!" Ward says.
"She's unconscious!" Rafe screams.
_____________
Your eyes fluttered open. It was almost painful to keep your eyelids up.
Large windows lined the room, letting in the sunrise. Purple skies as the sun made it's way into view.
You felt so confused. You placed a hand on your belly. No bump. You instantly shot up, panicking at your missing baby bump you had grown so used to.
"Rafe!" You screamed.
"Hey, hey!" Rafe said as he came out of the bathroom, bouncing a tiny human in his arms. "Calm down baby, I'm here. We're here." He smiles as he sits on the bed next to you.
"Is that...is that my daughter?" You ask, taking in her tiny features. She had Rafe's eyes and your lips. A perfect mix of the two of you.
Rafe smiles, moving to place her in your arms. "You did so good, mama."
You hold her gently, tears filling your eyes as she instantly looked for your nipple. You happily fed her, gushing over the fact she knew you were her mother.
"I-I don't even remember."
"It was complicated," Rafe begins, rubbing one hand over your leg and one over her tiny head. "Emergency c-section. Thought I was gonna lose you. But you were so strong."
You couldn't help but cry. A tear falling on your child's cheek but Rafe brushed it away.
"She's been so fussy until now. She doesn't like the bottle." Rafe chuckles.
"How long have a been out?"
"Two days,"
You shudder, realizing you missed the first two days of your child's life.
Rafe pulls himself up to sit behind you. You lean back against his chest as you continue to feed your child. He runs his fingers up and down your arms and places kisses on your temples.
"I love you so much," He whispers.
"I love you too," You said as you felt yourself drift back to sleep. Rafe brought his arms around you to help hold your baby as she finished nursing.
When you woke up again the sun was setting. Rafe was draped over you, snoring softly. Your daughter in a bassinet beside you, sleeping peacefully.
You heard a knock at the door. Rafe shot up, rubbing his eyes as he tried to process what was going on.
"Hmmm, okay." He said, half asleep as he stumbled towards the door.
You felt bad. You knew he'd been doing all of this on his own while you were out. He needed sleep.
"Hey," Rafe said as your family members piled in. You were grateful for the large room.
Rose and Wheezie carried flowers and gifts, placing them on the dresser by the window. Ward followed behind them.
John B and Sarah came in after them with balloons, setting them to the side as they quickly ran to see your baby.
"Jesus," Rafe grumbled as he laid back down beside you. "M' sorry baby. They wouldn't let anyone but me in until today."
You pet his hair and place a kiss on his head as he rests against your shoulder. "It's okay, babe."
You were wide awake now. Rafe tried his best to sit up and interact but you could tell he wasn't going to last long.
John B held your baby as everyone else crowded around him. She was smiling up at him and it made your heart melt.
"So," Sarah asked. "What's her name?"
You turned to Rafe and smiled. He smiled and rubbed his eyes. "Her name is Juliette Lilith Cameron." He announced.
All the girls gushed over the name. John B smiled down at his niece, bouncing her happily.
Ward came around the side of the bed and placed a hand on Rafe's shoulder. "Congratulations, son. You're going to be a great father."
Rafe smiles at his dads words. "Thanks, dad." He gushes. You can't help but tear up. You knew how much Rafe wanted his dad to be proud of him.
After everyone had a turn holding Juliette, Rafe finally ushered them all out, claiming you and baby needed your rest. But in all honesty, you and Juliette were fine. Rafe was the one that needed a break.
After you nursed Juliette and laid her down to sleep, you and Rafe snuggled in your hospital bed, eating mediocre hospital food and watching Family Feud.
"Can I get you anything, baby?" Rafe mumbled against your shoulder, barely able to keep his eyes open.
"Get some sleep, my love." You whisper, placing a kiss on his head.
"Gotta take care of my girls first," He mumbles.
"We're good," You promise him. "We need you to be well rested."
Rafe hums into your skin, wrapping his arm tighter around you but not tight enough to hurt you since you were still healing.
"Love my girls," Was the last thing he said before he drifted off to sleep.

Part 2 of my injured Tommy fic.
Tommy watched the clock with distain in his eyes. Every second that ticked by felt like it was mocking him.
Just another second since he left you. Another second since you drove him away. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
He hated that stupid clock.
He also hated that his and Evan's bed was in the living room, and their hallway was covered in plastic sheets for the remodel, and that all their cabinets and countertops had to be lowered, and that he still had to have help when he took a shower or took a shi-
“Knock knock!” Eddie's voice interrupted Tommy's thoughts. Probably a good thing, he figured. He was very close to throwing his stress ball directly at the clock and, hopefully, shattering it to pieces.
“In here,” Tommy said, rolling his eyes afterward. Because of course that's where he was. He was never not in the living room these days.
“I brought new movies and...” his voice drifted as soon as he got a good look at Tommy. “What's wrong?”
Tommy sighed. “Please. It's not like Evan didn't send you.”
“Buck didn't send me. Why would Buck be sending me?”
“Because we fought.”
“Really?” Eddie asked, and if he was faking surprise, he was doing a really good job. “What about?”
“He's...” Tommy huffed. “He's trying to help me all the time and there's some things I wanna do on my own. Too much hovering.”
“S'normal,” Eddie replied. He headed over to the couch to sit.
Tommy turned in the chair to get himself into position to transfer. “Can you pull my arm up a little so I can get on the couch?”
Eddie leaned back, staring at Tommy. “You got it.”
“I don't really ever do transfers by myself, Eddie.”
“Good time to start. Come on,” he patted the couch, “this is way more comfy than the chair.”
“Eddie, I-” he gripped onto the armrests just enough to make himself squirm. “I'm really tired and I'd rather you just help me.”
“Mm. No.”
“No?” Tommy questioned.
Eddie nodded. “Consider it tough love. I know you're not tired, Man. You've got a look on your face that says you're ready for about four or five rounds of Muay Thai. Use up some of that energy to get yourself on the damn couch.”
Tommy wanted to scream. Forget the clock, he wanted to throw the stress ball right at Eddie's head.
He squeezed it harder instead, his nails digging into the ball. “Can you at least not look at me while I do it?” he asked, teeth gritted together.
“What's that matter? I've helped you shower.”
He glared up at Eddie, his cheeks turning red. “You're really pissing me off, Man.”
“I can see that.”
“Can't you leave me the hell alone?!” Tommy yelled. “Go screw up your own life again or something!”
Eddie didn't waver. Face didn't falter for a second. “The great part about us being friends,” he said, leaning toward Tommy ever so slightly, “is that you can't hurt my feelings the same way you can hurt Buck's. You can either stay a grump in that uncomfortable chair, or be a grump on this very comfy couch.”
Tommy huffed and puffed and was fairly sure if humans could breathe fire than there would definitely be some coming out of his nose. He angrily pulled the brakes on his chair, then used all the upper body strength he had to push himself up and onto the couch. It took awhile. A lot longer than he'd like to admit, actually, but eventually he was seated on the couch. He tugged on his sweatpants, straightening out his legs until his feet were flat against the floor. Then he leaned forward and released one of the brakes so he could swivel the chair off to the side.
“Hell yeah!” Eddie cheered, reaching over to smack his hand against Tommy's shoulder.
Tommy would've liked to still be angry with him, but he was too busy gasping for breath. He was also actually a little proud of himself too. “Sorry,” he muttered once he was able to speak again. “I didn't mean what I said. I'm just being an ass today.”
“No problem, Dude. So, why don't you tell me the real reason you fought with Buck?”
“I already did.”
“Please, that was total bull and we both know it. You fought because Buck's trying to help and you don't want it, yet you wanted me to help you? Plus, Buck's been hovering for two months now and you've never said a word even though you can do half this stuff by yourself. Transferring was one of the first things they taught you in the hospital. Real reason.” Eddie snapped his fingers near Tommy's face. “Go.”
“It's stupid.”
“Of course it is. Tell me anyway.”
Tommy ran his hand over his forehead, wiping away the thin layer of sweat that had settled there. “I...” his voice trailed off as he thought about how to say what he'd been thinking. “I feel like he's settling for me now.”
“Buck?” Eddie questioned. “You feel like he's settling?”
Tommy nodded. “Yeah.”
“Okay, so dumber than I thought.”
“Eddie.”
“I'm kidding, I'm kidding! Why would you ever think that?”
“Eddie, the guy he fell in love with was a firefighter pilot. Someone who flew through hurricanes and landed helicopters on capsized cruise ships. Not... this,” he said, motioning down at his lower half. “I don't even know what this is anymore.”
“Hm.” Eddie nodded his head, thinking for a moment before responding. “Gotta say, if that's how you feel about Buck, then I'm not sure you know him at all.”
Tommy ran a hand over his eyes, trying to stop them from burning. “That's the stupid part, Eddie, I don't feel that way about Buck. I feel that way about me. I know how irrational it is and I know he still loves me, but there's this voice in the back of my mind that always starts running its mouth.”
Eddie huffed out a laugh. “I've got one of those too. Sounds like my mother.”
“I think mine's my dad. And me a little bit too.”
“What's the voice say?”
“A lot of things. Mostly, it makes me feel useless. I've always had a plan, Eddie, ever since I was a kid. There was school, and football, and knowing that the second I was old enough I'd do whatever I had to do to get out of my dad's house. Then I had the army, and flying, and after that I went right into being a firefighter. I did that for so long before transferring to Harbor and flying again, but I always had a plan. I was always somebody. I was something. Now I...” he sighed. “I don't know who or what I am. I don't know what to do with my life. And Evan didn't fall in love with that guy. He fell in love with cool, confident Tommy. Which makes me feel like he's settling now, because he could be doing anything.”
His eyes burned. He kept wiping at them, trying to catch each tear before they could fall. “He should be doing anything,” he said, lip trembling. “He's young, and smart, and so damn handsome. He should be living his life, Eddie, not working part time so he can be home with me.” He gave up on the tears, sniffling as they started to fall. “He spends every waking moment either working or taking care of me, and it's not fair to him. It's not.”
Eddie waited. Waited until Tommy's breathing returned to normal and the tears calmed before hitting him with a, “You know you're never gonna walk again, right?”
Tommy looked like all the air had been sucked out of the room. His eyes widened comically as he stared at Eddie, shocked. “I- I'm aware. Thanks?”
Eddie shrugged. “I'm just saying, this all happened like two months ago. That's it. Two months, Tommy. You don't have to have everything figured out yet. Hell, you've got a lot more figured out right now than I do at any given moment.”
“Doesn't feel that way. Feels like everything's a mess, and I'm a burden. We're having to use all my savings for the renovations, and Buck's taking care of all the bills while only working part time, and paying Carla to take care of me when he's working. Then he's coming home to do PT with me and cook for me and help me use the damn bathroom.” His voice cracked again at the last admission, but he cleared his throat and continued. “God, Eddie, he was so upset but he still asked if I needed to use the bathroom before he left.”
“So that's what it was all really about then?” Eddie asked. “You were just trying to push him away?”
“Yeah,” he nodded. “I think so. And I know this part isn't forever. I'll figure out the cooking once the kitchen is done, I'll learn new ways to exercise, we'll have an actual bedroom again, I'll be able to transfer to the toilet and into the shower. It's not that I mind the help, because you're right, I love the fact he takes care of me. I just hate that he has to. I don't want to hold him back. Don't want him to have regrets.”
“Man, your brain really is working overtime,” Eddie said, a hand rubbing at the back of his neck. “It's wrong, by the way, your brain I mean. Buck's obsessed with you still. Like, obnoxiously so. He's always looking at the clock, waiting to get home to you. He tries out PT exercises on us, researches meals that'll give you enough protein to keep up your upper body strength. Won't shut up about you on calls.” He laughed when he saw a smile playing on Tommy's face. “Seriously, last week we had this woman on a stretcher who happened to have a husband named Tommy, and Buck just lights up. Starts going on and on about how he has a fiancé named Tommy who has taught him all about monster trucks, and shown him all these movies, and is the coolest, and sweetest, and hottest, man he's ever met. No joke, Tommy, the woman asked if we could give her a sedative so she wouldn't have to listen anymore.”
Tommy laughed at that, some of the stress visibly leaving his body. “If you ask Carla, she'd say the same thing,” he admitted. “Evan's all I talk about, all day long. I know it has to drive her nuts.”
“You two love birds are meant for each other, whether your dad in your head likes it or not. And if you really think Buck's gonna leave you because of one stupid fight... you're dumber than I thought.”
“He's right.” The sound of Buck's voice made both Eddie and Tommy turn toward the living room entryway. “I mean, not about the dumb part. But, thinking I'll leave you.”
“I- I didn't hear you get home,” Tommy said nervously. He eyed Buck up and down, like he was expecting him to have physically changed in the last two hours.
“I was quiet, I guess.” He glanced at the wheelchair, then at Tommy on the couch. “You transferred.” It wasn't a question.
Tommy nodded. “Yeah, I did. Took a hot minute, but I did it.”
“Did Eddie harass you into it?”
Tommy smiled softly. “It's a very effective method, apparently.”
“I'll have to stick around next time,” Buck replied, smiling back, “and take notes.”
Eddie's eyes shifted between the two of them, noticing that they couldn't seem to stop staring at each other.
“I think my work here is done,” he said, getting up and giving Tommy a pat on the leg. “See ya, Man.”
Tommy cleared his throat. “Yeah, yeah. Bye, Eddie.”
He squeezed Buck's shoulder as he passed by. “See you tomorrow.”
Buck smiled at him. “See ya.”
They stayed silent until the door shut, leaving the two of them alone.
“I'm so sorry I snapped at you.” Tommy inwardly cursed at the fact he couldn't seem to stop himself from getting emotional anymore.
“I'm sorry I hovered.”
“That's not... Evan, that's not why I really got upset.”
“Yeah, I figured. I've been here for a while, actually, I just... I haven't heard you open up like that since the accident.”
“Can you come here?” Tommy asked, patting his lap. As Buck walked over, Tommy held out his hand. Buck took it as he sat beside him on the couch, gently resting his legs over Tommy's. “I don't want you thinking I'm not thankful for everything you've done. I am endlessly grateful, Evan.”
“I don't want you thinking you're not enough for me.” Tommy looked down as Buck spoke, until Buck hooked two fingers under Tommy's chin and tilted his head up so their eyes met. “My love for you has never been based on your job, or what you're capable of. I love you. I love your personality, and your smile, and how you care about people, and how you always seem to know when I'm not okay, and how you listen. All of it. You still have everything that makes you you, Tommy. Everything I love is still right here,” he said, placing a hand over Tommy's heart.
Tommy reached up and placed his hand over Buck's. “We were supposed to get married today,” he said, his lip trembling.
Buck nodded, tears in his eyes. “I know.”
“Would you... Would you still want to?”
Buck froze. “Are- Are you serious?”
Tommy nodded. “I still want a real wedding, sometime soon. But, I really just wanna be married to you.”
“Eddie probably hasn't gotten too far yet,” Buck said, practically jumping up to pull his phone out of his pocket. “He could come back; be our witness?”
“Good idea. I'll get back in my chair so I'm ready when he gets here.”
“Need any help?” Buck asked, phone to his ear as he waited for Eddie to pick up.
“That's okay,” Tommy answered with a smile. “I got it.”

John Price x AFAB!Reader
Self indulgent, needy, tired, needing a big bear to make me relax ramble... Enjoy🙌
MDNI!!!
The week had been unbearably long, people being rude, condescending, loud ignorant and testing your last nerve. The only thing really kinda holding you together the whole time is knowing that this weekend John had promised he cleared his schedule and the two of you were going to go on a little road trip together, to no where specific, just using it as an excuse to get away together. Although you thought you had cleared a shitty week without snapping or breaking, your boss had pushed you over the edge, humiliating you in front of your coworkers blaming you for something that you had nothing to do with, yelling right in your face, while then pulling you into his office to make back handed apologies and hitting on you, making you sick.
Getting into your car to head home, you let a few aggravated tears fall freely not caring to try and hold yourself together any more, you couldn't. Pulling into the drive you wiped your cheeks, grabbing your bags you got out and made your way inside, dropping your bags with a huff. Making your way into the living room meeting John half way you slumped into him, head resting into his pecs, shaking your head slightly into them, shutting the world off now that you were in his arms. John didn't miss your red eyes, or flushed cheeks as you walked to him, giving you a moment to just relax in his arms before he questioned what happened, he squeezed you into him kissing the top of your head.
"Hello my darling, how was your day?"
"Shit."
John hummed, squeezing your sides, not pulling away till you do, and once you did he cupped your cheeks, thumbs swiping under your eyes feeling the still present tears. Scowling slightly he held on as you tried to pull away, "Do you want to talk about it?"
"Not yet, I'll only break down before getting anything out."
Nodding his head, he pulled you back to him picking you up bridal style, "Come with me, I'll draw you a bath." Smiling at him you wrapping your arms around his neck kissing his cheek, letting him carry you down the hall to your shared room, sitting you on the counter in your bathroom, he went to the tub, clogging the drain, and turning the water on, holding his hand under the running water waiting and making sure it was the perfect temperature, then pouring in bath salts, bubbles and a sparkly soup bomb. Turning back to you, he slowly undressed you, kissing every inch of exposed skin as he went, it wasn't sexual but more sensual and sweet as he went, pleasant praise drifting from his lips making you smile down at him as he slowly raised himself.
Grabbing a hold of your hips he picked you up again and brought you to the tub, gently helping you ease into the water, letting the water fill up a bit more, he took your hair out of the messy bun, grabbing your brush, he slowly worked through the knots and gently brushed your hair before helping you get it wet and massaging your scalp. After work every inch of your scalp he turned the water off, as he was about to kneel to massage the rest of your body you looked up to him blissfully, "Will you join me John?"
Never being one to tell you no, he striped off his clothes and carefully got in behind you, pulling your back flush against his hair chest, kissing your shoulders. "You're so beautiful, is there anything you want specifically for dinner?" Shaking your head you rested your arms on his thighs, squeezing his knees smiling as his hands starting working on massaging your back, shoulders, neck, arms. You were starting to feel like putty in his hands as you let him rub you down, when his hands got to your waist, you couldn't help the wetness of your cunny, and not referring to the bath. Rubbing your own hands slowly up and down his thighs, or at least as much as you can reach, you moaned when his hands pushed into the apex of your thighs and hips. Squeezing his thighs close to your hips you turned your head looking up into his eyes, kissing him softly, before leaning back up and kissing him again longer. Pulling back you continued to look up at him as his hands moved to between your thighs...massaging between them, fingers working small circles into your clit, and others dipping slowly into you curling and turning rubbing as much as they could reach. "Oh, darling."
Pouting up to him, you twisted you arm to behind you, feeling his twitch cock against your back, grazing it with your hand, "John." Kissing him again you moved your hips more into his hands when you felt him push a few fingers into your g-spot, making your toes curl slightly and widen your legs. His fingers slowly worked you up to a orgasm that rolled over you like a wave, it was a slow roll through you as he continued to work you through it. Sliding away from him momentarily, you turned, facing him, the water sloshing around the both of you, moving your legs to either side of him, laying over the front of him, bubble's sliding down your breasts. Grabbing onto his shoulders you leaned forward, kiss slow and gentle as he grabbed onto your waist with one hand and his other going back to your core, fingers working to gently stretch you and prep you, and anytime you would try to rush the kiss and move your hips fast against his hand, he would pull back whispering to you, "Slow darling, slow. I got you."
The pace was driving you insane, but you appreciated the attention he was giving to make sure you were properly relaxed and cared for. Feeling the knot in your tummy form you tried your best to not rush through the orgasm, huffing against his lips trying to keep the kiss going through it. "God, John, please, I need you, please just..."
Sliding you up his body, he guiding his dick right up to you, helping you slide down, seating you perfecting on him, both of you groaning as you slowly rocked yourself on him. "There you go darling." Whimpering you leaned back into him, still not feeling close enough to him, you held him, pushing your hands into his hair as his arms wrapped around you holding you to him steadily. Feeling that you were trying to quickly grind into him, he continued to slow you down, "Slow darling, slow, we've all night, for now, just feel." Letting his arms guide the pace you listened to him, slowing down and just feeling,
Loosing yourself into him, you felt so full of him, grateful that he knew you inside and out, easily wiping your mind clear of everything and making you be the center of everything. After breathing into each other and taking in everything, you could feel that heavy, blissful end slowly building in you, as his cock twitched against your cervix, pushed down into him a little more you grunted, your walls tightening hard around him, hips rutting uncontrollably against him, eye brows scrunched as you came, feeling him also cum inside you.
Stilling you slid down him slightly, his cock still buried in you, the both of you rested in the water, the silence comfortable to the both of you. No longer caring about the week, or anything that had happened that day, you felt better being there in his arms. "I love you John."
"I love you more darling."

beautiful boy
nicholas chavez x reader
summary: your bf comes home from work and just wants to be with you
I was on the couch reading my book trying to contain my excitement for when nicholas came home.
Nicholas stumbled through the front door, exhaustion etched into every line of his face. He had been doing press jobs non-stop, flying from city to city, and the jet lag was hitting him hard. All he wanted now was to see y/n, to find some comfort in her presence.
He dropped his bags by the entrance and made his way into the living room, where he found me curled up on the couch with a book. I looked up as he entered, concern immediately crossing my face.
"Nicholas, you look exhausted," I said, setting the book aside and standing up to greet him.
He managed a tired smile, pulling me into a hug. "I am. It's been a crazy few days. I just wanted to come home and be with you."
Wrapping my arms around him in a gentle hug. Nicholas sighed, leaning into my embrace, feeling the weight of his journey melt away just a bit.
"Yeah, but I'm so jet-lagged," he murmured, his voice thick with fatigue. I pulled back slightly, looking up at him with concern.
"Come on, let's get you cleaned up," I said, taking his hand and leading him to the bathroom. I turned on the shower, adjusting the water to the perfect temperature. Nicholas watched me with grateful eyes, too tired to do much more than follow my lead.
I helped him out of his travel-worn clothes, my touch gentle and caring. I guided him into the shower, the warm water cascading over his tired body. I stepped in with him, my hands moving to wash away the stress and grime of his journey.
As we worked, Nicholas felt the tension in his muscles begin to ease. He closed his eyes, letting the soothing sensation of my touch and the warm water envelop him. "Thank you, y/n," he whispered, his voice filled with gratitude.
"Anything for you," I replied softly, my fingers threading through his hair as I washed it. The moment was sweet and intimate, a quiet connection that spoke volumes about our bond. In that small, steamy space, the world outside faded away, leaving just the two of us, wrapped in a tender embrace.
I held him tightly, feeling the tension in his body. "I'm glad you're home. Come on, let's get you settled. You need to rest."
Nicholas nodded, grateful for my understanding. As we made our way to the bedroom, he felt a sense of relief wash over him. No matter how chaotic things got, being with y/n always made everything better.
Nicholas lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, his mind too wired from the constant travel to fall asleep. Me nestled beside him, my head resting on his chest, our fingers intertwined.
"Can't sleep?" I asked softly, looking up at him.
"No, the jet lag is messing with me," he admitted, running his fingers through my hair. "But being here with you helps."
I smiled, me heart warming at his words. "Tell me about your trip. What was the most interesting part?"
Nicholas sighed, a small smile playing on his lips. "There was this one interview where they asked me the most random questions. It was kind of fun, actually. But honestly, all I could think about was getting back home to you."
I squeezed his hand. "I missed you too. It's been lonely without you here."
He kissed the top of my head. "I'm sorry I have to travel so much. I wish I could take you with me everywhere."
"One day," I whispered. "For now, let's just enjoy these moments together."
They continued talking late into the night, sharing stories and dreams, the comfort of each other's presence making the time pass easily. Eventually, the exhaustion took over, and Nicholas began to drift off, holding y/n close. As he fell asleep, he felt a sense of peace, knowing that no matter where he went, this was home.

He’s been watching you for so long and somehow you haven’t noticed.
You haven’t noticed at all; how he follows you home after work everyday, how he sneaks in your house every night and steals your panties before going home and wrapping his hand around his cock with your underwear held to his nose as he sniffs it, getting off to your scent.
He loves you, he’s obsessed with you. But you don’t realise it so tonight is the night he will show you.
——————————————-
I lay down in my bed after a rough day at work, completely exhausted and ready to close my eyes and to sink into the comfort of my bed. I grab my phone and message my friends’ group chat saying goodnight before plugging my phone in to charge. It doesn’t take me long for sleep to claim me, but just before I slip into slumber I notice that I forgot my headphones on my desk - but who cares I’m tired and I should rest.
As I drift off into dream land, I hear someone knocking on my window. At first I think it must be one of my friends but why would they knock on my window instead of just ringing the doorbell? I open my blinds to see who’s there, It’s a man, he looks around mid twenties. I don’t know who he is but he seems and looks familiar. I open the window sightly to talk to him. “let me in” he says sternly. “I don’t even know who you are..!”
I say trying to back away from him. He lunges forward, opening my window jumping inside and pinning me against the wall, holding me captive. His fingers wrap around my throat. I pull at his hand desperately trying to get it loose, tears welling up in my eyes. “Please don’t kill me” I choke out “I just want to talk.” he sighs, letting go of me. “What do you want to talk about?” I ask as I wipe my face dry. “You tell me” he says, sitting next to me on the bed. “Who are you?” I ask once again. “Chan, I work with you. but that doesn’t matter right now. i love you.” he whispers. I start to panic and push myself back against the wall. “Why.. why are you doing this?” I say, starting to sob. He reaches forward, grabbing my chin gently forcing me to look directly into his face. “No. You don’t get to run away this time.” he replies.
“how did you not notice all the times I sneaked into your house and stole your underwear?” Chan scoofs. I try to ignore him but his presence is making me uncomfortable. “Stop staring at me. Please” I beg. He grabs my neck forcing me to make eye contact with him. “i’ve waited long enough” he says softly, caressing my face. “you’re mine, don’t you dare try to escape.” he breathes. Before I can reply, his lips crash down on mine, forcing our lips together. “Don’t you want to be mine?” he growls into my mouth, kissing me harder. My hands reach behind him and grab ahold of his hair, gripping it tightly and tugging on it. He releases his grip on my neck to grab hold of my wrists, tying them up above my head. “please… stop..” I moan trying to move him off of me. His lips leave mine, letting me breathe.
“stop trying to fight me” he growls lowly in my ear. “i love you.” he whispers again, kissing my cheek. “You need to understand that you are my everything. You are my only reason to live.” he breathes again in my ear. My eyes widen in fear, tears threatening to spill over. “I don’t understand” I croak out. His grip tightens around my wrists, causing me to gasp in pain. “you’re my only hope, darling. You have always been my only hope.” he whispers again, his voice filled with a hint of venom.
His mouth travels down to my chest, lifting up my shirt and bra revealing my breasts, he sucks hard on my nipples making me shudder, still fairly uncomfortable but wanting to please this strange man. “Tell me what you want” he pants out as he continues to suckle on my tits. I nod my head slowly, unable to speak. “Say it” he demands, his lips leaving my breasts. “I want you” I blurt out, wanting to please him with my answer, still a big scared. His eyes darken in fury, looking straight at me.
“Good girl. I won’t hurt you.” he breathes, his eyes never leavuping mine as his fingers unzip his jeans. I whimper when he starts to rub himself against me, my eyes widening at what he’s doing. I push his boxers down his thighs; revealing his rock hard dick. He smirks at me, thrusting against me in an attempt to gain some pleasure. I gulp nervously and try to keep my cool while he does this, not wanting him to catch on that I’m terrified of him.
“Do you like the feel of my dick touching you? does it make you wet?” Chan growls. “no… no more ive changed my mind” I whimper, trying to squirm away but he keeps me pinned down underneath him. He tugs my panties and jeans off pushes himself inside of me roughly. “ow..” I groan. He holds me down by pressing his legs against either side of my hips, preventing me from moving. I start crying, feeling vulnerable and trapped under him.
“I’m sorry” he mumbles. “I just want to enjoy this moment with you.” he says, running his hand through my hair. “I love you. ” he whispers softly as he slams deeper and deeper into me, hitting every single space possible inside my pussy. “be mine please y/n.” Chan says As he releases himself inside of me.

Hi, I would love to request a Joel fic. I love your work and appreciate all of the effort you put into your work.
I’d love something where reader and Joel have always tried to keep their distance from each other because they don’t want to get emotionally attached. But one night they’re drinking alone and reader kind of confesses her feelings without thinking. And Joel doesn’t really know how to respond.
So the next morning he acts like he doesn’t remember because he’s afraid to be with someone. And it hurts reader’s feelings, but she just doesn’t bring it up.
Until one evening they’re on a run together and they stay in a safe house for the night and reader can’t distract herself anymore and she confronts him. Maybe it turns into a passionate fight where he admits he remembered but was too scared to say how he felt.
Maybe ending with some steamy smut with a soft ending? I love a good pining/angst/smut combo and I think you’d absolutely kill this. Of course no pressure if you’re not into it! Thank you for doing what you do and I hope you have a lovely day!
Thank you so much you’re so sweet 🥹🥰 Absolutely loved this request. I changed it up just slightly but I hope you enjoy 😉

You were feeling the light buzz from the alcohol tickle beneath the surface of your skin, the whiskey warming you from the inside out as it slid smoothly down your throat. As soon as Tommy had left the tipsy bison, Joel had cracked open the good stuff.
It was a rare occasion that you’d both get this time alone, especially since arriving back at Jackson a few months ago. You were both either out on patrol or too tired to do anything other than sleep.
“I still can’t believe this is our life now,” you say as you sit at the bar sipping on your drink. Joel hums in agreement, shifting on his stool so he’s facing you.
“Feels too good to be true, doesn’t it? Doesn't seem right neither, us here livin’ a normal life while the world is gone to shit.” You can feel his eyes on you as he speaks and god the sound of his voice - that deep southern drawl that gets more prominent when he drinks - stirs something in you.
“I know what you mean but we’ve earned it Joel. All the shit we’ve been through, this is what we deserve.”
“I guess. Just makes me on edge knowing it could all be gone in the blink of an eye.” He downs his drink and leans across the bar to pour himself another.
You use the opportunity to take him in. The way his hair has grown slightly longer, curling at the ends, a significantly more amount of grey littering his dark locks since Boston. The stretch of his plaid shirt across his broad back and shoulders. The sun kissed skin that peeks out from under his shirt at his neck.
Your gaze drifts to his hands and the way the bottle seems so small in comparison. You shiver at the memory of how those very hands gripped your hips last night as he drove into you from behind.
“God, I love you,” you whisper, freezing when you see the way his shoulders tense. Fuck! I didn’t mean to say that out loud.
You were never supposed to feel like this. Weren’t supposed to fall in love. Sure, you both enjoyed each other’s company and fucked when the need arose but that’s as far as it went. You both tried to keep it simple. No living together. No feelings. Just casual. It was easier that way because you had nothing to lose then. Or at least that’s what you told yourself.
“I - I, you….” He stammers as he pours himself more whiskey before turning to you with a wry smile and topping yours up too. “Ellie seems to be settling in just fine,” he stated, quickly changing the subject, his eyes avoiding your gaze at all costs.
“Yeah,” you coughed, the whiskey getting caught with your breath. “She’s eh - she’s made some friends. It’s nice, seeing her happy.”
Joel didn’t say much after that, just nodding his head or humming in agreement and when the bottle was gone, you both got up to leave. “G’night.” He muttered as he turned away from you and walked towards his house.
“Night,” you whisper as you wait for him to disappear inside before letting out a sigh and making your way home. Why did you have to fall in love with him?
***
The following morning you had patrol bright and early and as you made your way towards the main gate, you caught a glimpse of Joel standing off to the side having a very animated conversation with Julie.
Of course, she’s with him. She’d been smitten with Joel since you all arrived in Jackson. You weren’t in the mood for this today. You weren’t in the mood for her today. You didn’t get much sleep last night, unable to get what you’d said out of your head. Why didn’t he say anything? Does he not feel the same?  Did he even hear me?
You’d planned to address it this morning and clear the air, not wanting to make things awkward between you both. So, taking a deep breath, you sidle up beside him not missing the glare Julie sends your way as you gently touch his arm, drawing his attention to you.
“Hey,” you smile softly at him and his face morphs into that scowl you’ve come to love. “Can I have a word?”
Joel nods before turning back to Julie and saying that he would see her later. “Somethin’ wrong, darlin’?”
God, I love when he calls me that.
“I just wanted to talk about last night. What I said…I…” Joel furrows his brows as he leans against the fence. “Darlin, I’m ashamed to say, I don’t remember much bout last night. That was some strong whiskey,” he laughs, his eyes meeting yours briefly as he looks around at the others gathering at the gate.
“Oh! Okay. Umm, then never mind I guess.” You feel as if you’ve been stabbed in the gut as your stomach twists into knots. He doesn’t even fucking remeber. Of course, he doesn’t.
“Come on. Best get goin’, we want to be back before nightfall.” Joel pushes off the fence and walks towards the main gate, not bothering to throw you a backward glance as he makes his way out of the town.
Your heart aches, feeling almost like you’ve been rejected but at least this meant that you could both carry on as if nothing happened. Right?
***
Her laugh was shrill as she looked down at her feet, twirling that strand of hair between her fingers as she walked beside Joel.
You roll your eyes for the third time and huff loudly as you watch her flirt with him. The man was oblivious. Alway has been, never believing you or Ellie when you say that someone was flirting with him.
“You and him have a fight?” Tommy asks as he jogs up beside you, trying to keep up the pace. “Hmm?” You mutter as you keep your gaze focused on the man in front of you. The smile he has plastered across his face makes you nauseous.
“You two are usually joined at the hip. He never leaves your side and now he’s up there with….”
“Miss Jackson 2023.” Your tone is clipped and the scowl on your face deepens. Tommy bursts into laughter causing Joel and Julie to turn their gaze in your direction.
“Who pissed in your cereal this mornin?” Tommy asked, a wide smile on his face as he nudged your shoulder. You let your gaze drift from Joel to Tommy and you can’t help but let out a little chuckle.
“M’sorry. Just didn’t sleep much last night. Me and Joel are…we’re good.” Tommy hummed as he let his eyes drift between you and his brother, not missing the way Joel’s gaze lingered on you.
“If you say so. Come on,” he states as he pushes forward, leaving you trailing behind. “Fucking Millers,” you mutter under your breath as you jog after him.
Later that night, you waited for Joel in your dining room. Dinner was waiting on the stove to be heated as soon as he came but as the hours ticked by, you began to realise he wasn’t coming.
That ache in your chest that you had earlier when you saw him smiling at Julie began to creep in again. Where was he? He always came for dinner on Friday night. It had become somewhat of a tradition since living in Jackson. You’d both have dinner here and then somehow find yourself in your bed, wrapped in each other's arms.
The voice in your head told you to go to the Tipsy Bison and see if he was there with her, but with a sigh, you turn out your lights and have an early night.
Maybe he’ll come here tomorrow?
***
He didn’t show Saturday either. Or Sunday and when Monday rolled around, you’d gone from feeling sorry for yourself to downright angry.
What the fuck was he playing at? Why was he being so distant?
Grabbing your bag, you throw it over your shoulders and make your way down the street to the main gate. Tommy had come by the day before to ask if you’d be willing to make a special run for medical supplies to which you happily agreed, as long as it wasn’t with Joel.
Fixing your knife into your belt, you’re startled when you hear that familiar southern drawl. “Hope you brought your gun too, darlin?” Joel stood to the side of the gate with Tommy.
Both Miller brother’s gaze were fixed on you but yours was only focused on Tommy, who you greeted with a scowl.
“What’re you doing here?” You ask as your eyes drift back to Joel, that ache in your chest returning with a vengeance.
“I told ya before, I don’t feel comfortable with you going on runs without me.” He’s staring at you, but his face gives nothing away which only serves to anger you more.
“I don’t need no damn babysitter, Joel. I can handle it. Besides, Jason was gonna be tagging along.” You stood with your hands crossed across your chest, eyes narrowed as you snarked at him.
“Never said you needed a babysitter. I know you’re more than capable of handlin things, but you know I ain’t ever able to sit still when you head out without me.”
“Surprised you’d even notice,” you muttered under your breath. “Fine. If you’re insisting on coming, then let’s head out. I wanna be home before dark.” You turn with a finger pointed to Tommy. “You. I’m gonna be having a word with you when I get back.”
You turn and march off leaving both Miller men staring after you. “Good luck with that,” Tommy says, clapping his big brother on the back. Joel scoffs as he turns to follow you.
***
You could cut the awkward tension with a knife and every time you snuck a glance at Joel, you found him already staring at you. I don’t know how much more of this I can take.
“I think we’ve got pretty much everything on the list, we should start making our way back.” You state as you turn away from the shelf, stuffing the antibiotics into your bag.
Joel’s keeping watch, his gaze fixed out the window and gun cocked, and you can’t help but admire him. No. You gotta stop this. Closing your eyes, you take a deep breath before closing the gap between you.
He startles when you gently place your hand on his arm. “Did you hear me? We’ve got everything we need.” His gaze holds your own for a moment and you wish he felt the same way you did.
Clearing his throat, he steps back slightly, your hand falling away from him, and you pull it towards your chest before swallowing the lump in your throat.
He steps around you and opens the door slowly, scanning the area before ushering you outside. You’re both halfway down the street when you make out distant voices.
“Fuck.” He curses as his head moves toward the sound. Five men emerge from the tree line and he grabs you by the arm and pulls you along behind him.
“Joel,” you say nervously as he continues to pull you along. His grip getting tighter on your arm and hurting you. “What - what are we gonna do? They’re blocking the way home.”
He doesn’t answer. He just continues to move through the small town quickly as he tries to get you both to safety. He turns abruptly and you gasp.
“Tommy has a safe house nearby. We’re gonna have to stay the night and wait it out.” His face is stern, but you can see the hint of worry in his eyes as they scan your face.
You look over your shoulder, seeing some of the men making their way to the pharmacy and Joel gently whispers your name.
“We can’t take them on. We’re outnumbered. I ain’t risking it. I ain’t risking you.” Your breathing becomes ragged, and his hand gently caresses your cheek. “Come on, darlin’. We gotta go.” He grabs your hand in his and moves you quickly through the town, making sure to stay out of sight before you both disappear through the trees.
***
Night has fallen and Joel is out back grabbing some wood for the stove while you heat up some canned pasta. You’d argued that it was too dangerous to light a fire, but he’d said the cabin was too far out for anyone to see the smoke.
It beats having to huddle for warmth, you think to yourself as you stir the pot. He pushes open the door and throws a log into the stove before moving up behind you.
“Smells good,” he hums, his breath hot on your neck as his hand brushes along your lower back. “It’s almost done. You can sit by the fire. I’ll bring it over in a minute.”
Glancing at him over your shoulder, you see he has taken his boots off and your heart aches at the sight of him looking so relaxed. The cabin and the fire and the two of you alone it’s so domestic and that makes it hurt even more.
Handing him his bowl of pasta, you take a seat on the couch beside him as you both tuck into dinner.
It’s quiet. Too quiet and normally it doesn't bother you. Joel is always kind of quiet, but this is different. There’s an awkward tension in the air and you begin to feel claustrophobic.
You can feel his eyes on you, and it just gets to be too much. “Stop,” you shout as you stand abruptly, turning to face him.
“What are you talking about, darlin?” He scoots to the edge of the couch, hands held up as if in surrender.
“Don’t darlin’ me, Joel. Ugh…. I can’t do this anymore.” You clench your hands into fist as they hang at your side and begin to storm off toward the bedroom.
His hand on your arm stops you though as he slowly steps around the couch to face you. “Baby,” he whispers as he places both his hands on your cheeks. “Talk to me.”
“No! No, you don’t get to do that to me Joel. You don’t get to ignore me for the last four days and then come here and start calling me baby. I’m not your baby. Or your darlin’ and you made that pretty fucking clear the other night when you completely ignored what I said.”
Something shifts behind his eyes, and you know you were right all along about that night. “I don’t….” He mutters but you're quick to cut him off.
“Oh, pull the other one. I know you heard me that night at the bar. I know you heard me say I love you and you made me fucking think you were too drunk to remember. Jesus, Joel. Do I really mean so little to you?”
He shakes his head, but you don’t want to know what he has to say, not anymore. You pull out of his grasp and try to hold back the sobs as you make your way into the only bedroom.
“Shit.” You can hear him curse before the sound of his footsteps echo behind you.
“You’re right. I did hear you and the reason I didn’t say anything that night was because I was scared. I am scared. We’ve been together since Boston and in that time, I’ve grown to care about you. I’ve - fuck, I love you, alright. I fucking love you and it scares the shit outta me because if anythin were to happen to you, it would break me.”
His breathing was ragged as tears shimmered in his eyes. You stood staring at him in shock at what he’d just confessed, and you could feel your heart swell at his words.
“I love you, baby, and I’m sorry for how I behaved that night, for how I’ve been behavin. I thought I could let you go but I can’t, and I don’t want neither. Think you can forgive this old fool?”
You chuckle, unable to believe that you both are such idiots, and you can see the corner of his mouth twitch into a smile as he slowly moves towards you. His hand reaches out, wrapping around your waist and pulling you close.
“Well, what do ya say,” he asks as he wipes a stray tear from your cheek with his thumb. “I think I can forgive you, as long as you promise to never ignore me again.”
He rests his forehead head against yours, his eyes closing as he lets out a contented sigh. “I swear it, baby. Can I kiss you now?”
His eyes are open now and staring down at you and you feel like you’re on cloud nine. Nodding your head he places his hand under your chin and tilts your mouth towards his own before kissing you.
Is this really happening?
It’s soft at first. His lips gently caress yours until he licks along your bottom lip. When your tongues meet it’s as if you’re two horny teenagers unable to get enough of each other. His hands grab at your ass, and you squeal when he places his hands around your thighs and lifts you.
You wrap your legs around his waist, and he walks you over to the bed, laying you down gently.
Joel is quick to rid you of your clothes, the rough pads of his fingers skimming along your curves. His own clothes join yours on the floor shortly after. His eyes glaze over with lust as he stands at the edge of the bed taking in your naked form. “So, fucking beautiful baby,” he breaths, his voice husky with need.
You rest your head on the pillows and watch as he crawls up the bed towards you, his lips trailing light kisses along your legs and thighs.
“What are you doing, Joel?”  His gaze moves along your naked curves until it meets yours. “Gotta make it up to ya darlin,” he rasps and you pull your bottom lip between your teeth.
His breath is hot on your skin as he hovers over your aching cunt. His tongue glides along your slick as he teases you. Lifting your hips you plead with him, desperately needing him to touch you. “Please!”
He raises a brow and smiles at you before me burying his face into your curls. “Ooh!” You moan as your back arches off the bed, hands finding purchase in his hair. He moves your legs over his shoulders and buries his tongue inside you.
You writhe beneath him as pleasure begins to build. He alternates between licking and sucking and shoving his tongue inside you that you are a complete and utter mess on the bed below him. That familiar heat begins to form, and you can feel yourself getting closer and closer to that edge.
“Oh God,” you moan, as your orgasm rips through you. Your body shudders as you come down from your high.
“Taste so sweet, darlin,” he says as he moves up your body, peppering light kisses along your skin. He’s flush against you, the tip of him nudging at your entrance and with one roll of his hips, he stretches you open. He groans loudly as he fills you to the hilt, his eyes closed as he tries to calm himself, desperately hoping he doesn’t cum within two minutes.
Once he has control of himself, he begins to rock into you, his cock pulling out to the tip before pushing back in. You're already sensitive from your earlier orgasm and the way he’s stimulating your clit with his cock has you whimpering beneath him.
His hands grip onto your waist, fingers digging into your soft skin as he sits back onto his knees, pulling you to with him so you’re sat atop him.
He holds you down with his right hand as he pistons his hips up into you, his left kneading your breast as he pulls your pebbled nipple into his mouth and sucks. Your head falls back between your shoulders as you cry out his name. “Joel.”
Clenching around him, he groans - his head resting between your breasts, the feeling of you wrapped around him making him dizzy.
His hands grip your hips as you begin to move with him - rolling your hips over him. You shudder in his arms as your cunt clenched around him once again - his trusts become erratic as he nears the edge.
He grips your hips and lifts you off him as he cums, coating your thighs with his release. As much as you’d love him to finish inside you, you know that it’s too risky.
His eyes are staring at your thighs. At where he’s marked you with his spend. “So pretty,” he mutters as he lifts his gaze toward you. “I love you darlin.”
“I love you too. I’m gonna need to have a shower after that,” you giggle and he pulls you into him, kissing your lips softly.
“How about I run us a bath? Sound good?” He smiles at you, moving a start piece of hair behind your ear.
“That sounds like heaven.”

why not me?
Tumblr media
pair: Percy Jackson x reader
summary: Percy is dating Annabeth but y/n(she/her) has been Percy's only best friend, besides Grover, and she's had a crush on him for years now, even before they knew he was a demigod
masterlist | navigation
❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿
You sit at the edge of the campfire, your knees pulled to your chest as you watch Percy and Annabeth laugh across from you. Grover's somewhere to your left, probably foraging for more marshmallows, but you’re too focused on them to care.
Percy’s smile is bright, his sea-green eyes crinkling at the corners, and every laugh he gives sends a pang through your chest. You’ve known him for years—long before either of you even knew what a demigod was. Before the monsters, the quests, the gods. When he was just Percy, your best friend who lived down the street, the one you could always count on.
Now he has Annabeth, and the "what ifs" and "why not me?" consume you every day.
You were there before all this started. The thought races through your mind as you absently twirl a blade of grass between your fingers. You knew him when he couldn’t even pass math, when his biggest worry was keeping his ADHD in check during class, when you two would spend hours at the park just talking. You were the one who stuck by him when the world didn’t make sense, but now, sitting across from him, you feel like a background character in your own life.
Annabeth is perfect, you think, your gaze flickering to her. Of course she is. Daughter of Athena. Smart, brave, beautiful. You can’t compete with that. You’ve tried to stop comparing yourself to her, but it’s impossible. Every time you see them together, you can’t help but notice how effortless it is for her. The way she fits into Percy’s life like she’s always belonged there. The way she’s everything you’re not.
You glance down at your hands. What did she have that you didn’t? She was brilliant. Fearless. Meanwhile, you’re just... you. Ordinary, human, flawed in all the ways Annabeth is perfect. You don’t have godly parents, you don’t have that kind of courage. No matter how hard you try, you’ll always feel like you’re not enough.
“Hey, Y/N, you good?”
Percy's voice pulls you from your thoughts, and you look up to find his concerned eyes on you. Your heart skips a beat at the way he’s looking at you, but it also aches because he’s not really seeing you. Not in the way you want him to.
You force a smile, the same one you’ve been using for years now. “Yeah, of course. Just tired.”
Annabeth throws you a glance, and for a moment, you wonder if she can tell. You’ve gotten good at pretending—pretending you’re happy for them, pretending it doesn’t hurt every time you see them hold hands, pretending you don’t lie awake at night asking yourself why you weren’t enough.
Percy gives you a soft grin, one that you’ve seen a million times before but never get tired of. "You sure? You’ve been quiet tonight."
Quiet. Right. You’ve been biting your tongue so hard lately it’s a wonder you can still speak around him. You nod, your throat tight. “I’m fine, Percy. Really.”
He shrugs, seemingly satisfied, before turning his attention back to Annabeth. And just like that, the moment is gone. You’re invisible again.
As you watch them talk, your mind drifts to all the times you’ve wondered if things would’ve been different if you’d just spoken up sooner. If you’d told Percy how you felt before he and Annabeth got together, would he have seen you then? Would he have realized that you were always the one who stood by his side, that you loved him long before he was the son of Poseidon, long before any of this?
Or maybe you were just never meant to be more than the best friend. Maybe that’s your role, and you were foolish to think you could ever be anything else.
You hear Annabeth laugh at something Percy says, and it twists in your gut like a knife. She doesn’t even have to try, does she? Everything comes naturally to her—the love, the adventure, the destiny. And here you are, desperately trying to keep your smile intact, trying not to let the cracks show.
Why not me? The question echoes in your head again, louder this time. What does she have that I don’t?
You hate that you’re thinking this way. Annabeth doesn’t deserve your jealousy—she’s never been anything but kind to you. She’s never treated you like you were lesser, but that’s how you feel, anyway. Less than her. Less than what Percy deserves.
You swallow the bitterness building in your chest and stand up abruptly. “I think I’m gonna head to bed,” you say, keeping your voice as steady as you can.
Grover has finally returned with the marshmallows, and he offers you a confused look, his hand halfway to the fire. “But we haven’t even started roasting yet!”
You force a smile. “I’m just really tired. I’ll see you guys in the morning.”
Percy frowns again, but he doesn’t press. “Alright. Night, Y/N.”
“Goodnight.” You turn away quickly, before the tears in your eyes can betray you.
As you walk toward your cabin, the weight of it all crushes down on you. The laughter behind you fades, but the pain doesn’t. You bite your lip, trying to hold back the flood of emotions that’s threatening to spill over.
You wonder how long you’ll be able to keep pretending, how long you can keep wearing this mask. How long before Percy realizes the truth?
But then again, maybe he never will. Maybe you’ll spend the rest of your life standing in the shadows, loving him from a distance, wishing things were different.

New Girlfriend
Lucy Bronze x Teen!Reader
Ona Batlle x Bronze!Reader
Summary: You adjust to your Mum's new girlfriend
Tumblr media
Lucy rolls over in her sleep, blinking awake slowly.
She jerks away when she comes face to face with you.
"It's two in the morning!" She whisper-yells," How did you get in here?!"
"Are you sleeping with Ona Batlle?"
"What?!"
You roll over onto your back, staring up at the ceiling. "Well...you're not sleeping with Keira anymore."
Lucy groans, wiping a hand over her face. She'd recently given you the sex talk (you had just turned thirteen and she'd decided it was time) and was now regretting it.
"Did you really sneak in here to ask me that at...Two in the morning?!"
You ignore her question. "And everyone online is speculating about it. You drive her to training a lot. Are you sleeping with her?"
"This isn't a conversation we need to be having."
"How long have you been sleeping with her?" You ask," You were all cosy after the World Cup and she's been around her a few times. Are you sleeping with her?"
"Do you really need to know this?"
"I'd like to know if my mother's sleeping with someone regularly," You reply," Especially if that person comes around as often as Ona is."
"Go back to your room," Lucy orders," It's too early. I'm too tired. We'll talk later."
Only...she doesn't talk to you later and you grow more suspicious of Ona every time she comes to visit.
You're sitting at the kitchen table, answering questions on your mind-numbingly boring homework worksheet.
Mum and Ona are cuddled up together on the sofa before Mum gets up to get more popcorn, ruffling your hair as she passes you to get to the microwave.
Your eyes track her as she goes so you don't even notice Ona until she's standing in front of you.
She looks a little awkward as she smiles. "How is school?"
You don't quite know what to think of her since your revelation that she and your Mum were kind of sleeping together. So, you just offer her a blunt answer. "Fine."
She nods once, suddenly stumped at having to carry on the conversation.
You don't offer her any leeway and go back to your question, scrawling something randomly. You sweep your textbooks into your arms and whistle for Narla, retreating into your room.
"Why do you keep coming in here?!" Your mum demands that night when she wakes up to find you on the other side of her bed.
"If you and Ona are sleeping together," You say, ignoring her outrage," Does this mean we have to move? Or is she moving in with us? Keira used to live with us."
Mum rolls over and screams her annoyance into her pillow. "Do we really have to have these conversations when I'm trying to sleep?"
"Well, maybe, if you stopped avoiding them when you're awake then we wouldn't have to do them now."
She swats at you with her pillow. "Where is this coming from? Why, do you not like Ona?"
"Would it matter if I didn't?"
"You were all for Ona before you realised we were together."
"Because I thought you were making friends," You admit," Is she going to be here all the time?"
"Go back to bed," Mum says like every time you drift into a conversation she doesn't want to have with you," It's too early for this."
Mum gets sick a few weeks later and takes the day off training. Usually, this means you take the day off school because it's too far for you to walk and, with Mum ill, it means she can't drive either.
You've already begun to plan your day off (you got a new video game from Keira for your birthday and are ready to try it out) when the front door opens and Ona walks in.
You didn't even know she had a key.
"Hey," She says," Are you ready to go?"
You frown. "Where?"
"To school? Lucy called me to pick you up."
You send a wounded look over to your mother, who has made herself comfortable on the sofa and doesn't look to be moving for the foreseeable future.
She waves you away with her hand. "Off you go. Don't you have that test today?"
Begrudgingly, you change into your uniform, grab your bag and moodily follow Ona out to her car.
"So," She says, drumming her fingers against the wheel," Are you prepared for your test?"
"We don't need to make small talk," You say bluntly, staring out the window.
She's silent for a moment, no sound over the gentle hum of the car.
The light turns green and she takes a left turn instead of a right.
"You're going the wrong way," You say with an eye roll, slumping in your seat.
Ona fishes her phone out of her pocket and throws it at you. You glare at her but catch it, typing in the password she tells you to.
"Your school should already be saved," She says as she takes another turn, taking you further and further away from school," Dial them and put it on speaker."
Ona makes up an excuse that you're sick just as she pulls up in front of an arcade. She gets out and you stumble after her.
"I'm meant to be at school! You told Mum you'd take me to school!"
"Yes," Ona says," I did but I thought we could spend the day together."
You give her a look and cross your arms over your chest. "I have a test today."
"That you actually want to do?"
She's got you there but you refuse to give her satisfaction.
"I don't have money."
"I do."
You narrow your eyes at her and huff. "Fine! But I'm not going to be happy about this!" It's a complete lie. Mum doesn't like arcades. She says that they're stealing all your money so she rarely lets you go and it's even rarer that she gives you money for them.
You lose yourself in repetitive pinball and penny machines for hours, collecting tickets and taking great satisfaction in absolutely thrashing Ona at air hockey.
Your fun day almost makes it so you can forget your anger at her. Almost.
She gets you pizza and a drink and you find yourself sitting opposite her in a booth at the very back.
"You're not my mum," You tell her eventually," And I'm not calling you mum."
Ona beams at you and you hate that you find yourself smiling back. "I don't expect you to."
"And I reserve the right to have first dibs of Mum's bed," You continue.
It's an odd request but Ona takes it in her stride. "Okay."
You stare at her through narrowed eyes. "My test went fine," You say eventually," You dropped me off fifteen minutes early and waited around till I entered the building. You picked me up. We talked. We're civil. Cool with you?"
"Sounds good."

you don’t have to be perfect
Tumblr media
barça fem x teen!reader, lucy bronze x teen!reader
request: here
A/N: also i would just like to say, if anyone has any feedback for my writing it’s greatly appreciated cuz i’m not the best writer ik that but i want to improve.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It was apart of the contract I first signed with Barcelona that I continue my studies and finish school. Not ideal, but I get by with around 80% and sitting on a B for most my classes. What I didn’t factor in was the amount of stress I would have on top of the League and UWCL games when exams and assignments from 6 different classes were coming up. That’s hard on a 17 year old.
I felt myself start to drift away from everyone in the 2 weeks before mayhem. First it was denying to go out with the younger girls like Salma and Vicky, both of whom understood. Vicky being the same age as me and Salma only 2 years older than us. Then as expectations rose, classes became longer and filled extra information. All the time I wasn't on the pitch, I was studying. Or sleeping. (we dont talk about how even thats being cut down to maximum 5 hours a night).
Living with Lucy meant that she was bound to catch on to what was happening. It was inevitable. She took me under her wing when I first arrived along with some of the older girls and since I don’t speak Spanish natively, I was told to go with Lucy who was told to keep an eye on me. It’s nice, when you don’t want her to worry about how you’re ignoring everyone and have bags under your eyes whenever she sees you. She really does try her hardest to get me to do anything that’s not over analysing and over-studying the numerous topics, but no matter how much it pains me. I always turn her down.
After another night of studying until 2am, there’s an early morning training session and I know I’ve only gotten 4 hours of sleep. If I told the medical staff I’m sure they’d pale.
I’m aware that I probably look like death walking, but it doesn’t bother me. If I pass with above average grades, I’m happy and I know my actual parents will be too. I ignore the concerned looks that Irene and Alexia give Lucy, and get changed ready for the training session.
It’s gruelling, the lack of sleep from the past 2 weeks has finally started to catch up. When I least needed it to. Maybe I am working too hard. It’s too late for that though. I know I’m being watched by the captains, acting for a little bit longer won’t do much harm. Can it?
When the third water break rolls around, I sit on the floor and flop onto my back, closing my eyes. Too tired in the moment to do anything other than breathe. The sunshine above me dulls as Lucy and Alexia stare down at me. When I open my eyes. My captain has a raised brow, while my roommate has her arms crossed.
Y/N, get up please. Now.” It’s Lucy who speaks first. I don’t give in. What’s their problem?
“No. I am fine where I am thank you very much.” I bite back. Lucy looks like she’s trying to hold herself together and Alexia looks furious. Unconsciously, I sink into myself hoping the ground could swallow me up.
“Nena, we won’t ask again.” The spaniard says, her voice low as she sticks out her hand.
I reluctantly take it, pulling myself up and staring at the two in front of me.
“Come.” Alexia says blankly, leaving no room for argument before walking toward the main building. I sigh, doing as she says or I know I won’t hear the end of it. Lucy trails just behind me, her jaw set and making sure I don’t run away.
When inside I’m placed on a couch, wishing and praying to any extra-terrestrial being that I can leave this confrontation. What is it even about? Why am I here? I’ve done nothing wrong.
“So, we noticed you’ve been pushing people out. You also look dead.” Classic Alexia, straight to the point.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I look away.
“Really? Because when I go to bed, which is around midnight and sometimes 1 if I’m doing other work. Your light is always on. You better fess up now before we make you do extra laps, and clear all the equipment from training.” It’s Lucy this time, starring daggers into me. Still, I don’t let up.
“Maybe I left the light on.” I shrug. “And why do we have to do this right now? I have 2 exams tomorrow. So, if I may. Let’s finish training so I can get to study and do other things.”
“This is exactly what I’m talking about Y/N. You’re deflecting absolutely everything we say. You’re not taking the information in. I get you’re stressed but that doesn’t mean you isolate yourself.” She pauses, sighing deeply. “We are going home right now. You will not touch your school work, this has gone on for long enough. I know Alexia agrees with me.”
“Before you argue, just think. Is this really the best way I could’ve prepared? Yes nail in, do the study for good results. But also remember to utilise the support system you have, the team, the coaches, take a break.” By the end of the rant I feel tears well in my eyes. I feel someone hug me and I can tell who it is by the obscurely large hands.
“Nena, go home with Lucy. Get some rest, and not only will you feel better but it gives your brain a break. When the week is over we can talk more but for now go.” The Catalan smiles warmly. I nod my head saying thanks before walking with Lucy to the car.
“Do you feel alright? You do look very pale.” She places her hands against my face and frowns. “No temperature. I’ll get some food into you and we’ll have a rest day. Just us.” I nod slowly staring out of the window as my mind races.
When we get to the apartment, no conversation is made and I immediately go and take a shower. It’s there that I cry and let all my frustrations out, the stress finally taking its toll on my mind.
When I’m dressed and ready I walk out to the smell of pancakes and Lucy sitting on the couch with Narla next to her. She hears me and turns her head around, eyebrows furrowing at the state I’m in.
She pats the open spot next to her which isn’t taken by the Westie and hands me a plate, which I accept gratefully.
It’s a comfortable silence, but I know she’s waiting for me to say anything. And this time, I do.
“I’m sorry Luce.” My voice is quiet and more high pitched compared to what it normally sounds like.
She smiles lightly.
“Hey, these things happen. You’re smart, just as Alexia said give your mind a rest and you’ll do better. Myself, Keira, the rest of the team only want the best for you and your well-being. Let’s not talk about this now, take it step by step. You’ll be ok.” I nod wiping freshly formed tears as she pulls me into a big hug, giving the rest of her pancake to Narla who eats it happily.
- - - - -
And ok it would be. I end up playing Fifa with Lucy the rest of the day before eventually falling asleep against her. As for the exams, I pass by with good grades and after everything’s done the team takes me out to a restaurant to celebrate. As much as I deny it, this team is the most important thing to me. I love and adore them all so much.

Break up | j.o
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jenna Ortega X reader
It was a cold and foggy day in Romania, the gray sky seemingly merging perfectly with the gloomy and surreal atmosphere surrounding the set of Wednesday, Tim Burton's new project. I was walking down the corridor leading to the lounge, nervously clutching my jacket around me. The damp and biting air seemed to penetrate to the bone, but the tension inside me was even more oppressive. It had been three months since I last saw Jenna. Between my commitment to a horror film set in Los Angeles and Jenna’s long days of filming, our lives had intertwined in a chaos of distance and frenzy. That’s why I had decided to surprise my girlfriend.
"Hey." I nervously smiled at Emma, while her blue eyes sparkled with amusement, noticing my agitation.
"Jenna’s in there," she said with a smirk, pointing me toward the direction that would lead me to my girlfriend.
I nodded in understanding and made my way to the door that led to the lounge. The room was large but relatively quiet: a coffee machine in one corner of the room, a table, chairs, and a sofa at the other end. A few staff members were bustling around with cameras and props, my eyes searching for the one I loved and admired so much.
There she was.
Jenna was sitting on the sofa, her usual headphones around her ears, allowing her to isolate herself from the world while flipping through what looked like a script. I approached her, my heart pounding, and positioned myself in front of her. Her brown eyes slowly scanned my figure, so slowly that I could feel my heartbeat increase by the second. When her eyes met mine, I sighed and gave a spontaneous smile.
"Hi," I said with a small smile on my lips.
Jenna took off her headphones and left them around her neck.
She blinked in surprise. "I wasn’t expecting this," she murmured timidly, making me frown in confusion.
She got up from the sofa and gave me a quick hug, but it felt so strange and forced. "Is everything okay?" I asked nervously, a strange feeling creeping into my gut.
Jenna took a step back and looked at me without blinking, a small smile on her lips. "Yes... I’m just tired," she replied, her gaze drifting off into space. "This project is draining me."
I nodded, trying to smile in a way that would ease the tension. "I understand, maybe we can spend some time together afterward... you know, watch a movie or something."
"I don’t know, I have a cello lesson," she said calmly, her tired eyes meeting mine. Huge dark circles underlined the sleepless nights she had been through.
"Dinner, maybe?" I asked hopefully.
Jenna nodded timidly, but there was no enthusiasm on her face, only acknowledgment. I placed my hands on her waist and leaned in to capture her lips with mine. The kiss was mechanical. Her lips, once soft and warm, were now cold and distant.
Something was wrong.
"Jenna, can we talk?" I asked in concern. Something was off, and I needed answers.
She sighed and glanced at the clock on the wall, frowning. "Break’s almost over, I have to get back to the set."
Frustration started to build.
"It won’t take long, I promise," I insisted. I felt my voice tremble, but I couldn’t let this slip away without an explanation.
I took Jenna’s hand and led her toward the exit of the lounge. The biting cold hit my face immediately, making me feel the chill down to my bones. Jenna wrapped her arms around herself, trying to shield herself from the icy wind as her eyes watched me with a mix of anticipation and frustration. She quickly glanced around, almost cautiously, making sure no one was nearby before turning her attention back to me.
"What’s going on, Jenna?" My voice was a whisper, my fear too evident. I couldn’t ignore this distance between us.
She looked at me for a long moment, her expression impassive as if she were trying to find the right words. Finally, she sighed loudly. "Nothing, I’m just tired from work."
"Jenna..." I started, immediately picking up on her lie.
"Really, it’s nothing," she said with a smile.
"It’s not true," I insisted, the anger of being deceived taking over. "I know you, Jenna. Please, tell me what’s going on," I pleaded with a small voice, fear growing in my chest.
A tense silence settled between us, and my nervousness grew with each passing second. Jenna lowered her gaze, then raised it again with a look full of unease, as if a secret torment was consuming her. "I don’t know, okay? I don’t know what I want... We... we’ve been moving too fast," she finally admitted, her voice faltering with hesitation.
The realization hit me.
"What? Are you trying to say that..." I started, tears threatening to spill at any moment. No, it couldn’t be true. All the months spent together, the video calls, the kisses... Everything made sense.
Jenna looked at me with guilt.
"I..." she began, tears welling up in her eyes. Her lower lip trembled, and the awareness of what was about to happen hit me like a punch to the stomach.
"I’m exhausted, y/n," she admitted.
I quickly shook my head, unable to accept her words. "We can make it, Jenna. We can do it together," I suggested nervously, unwilling to give up so easily.
Jenna shook her head, making me feel an intense pain in my chest. "No, y/n. The distance, the work, all of this is hurting me," she confessed.
Tears streamed down her cheeks.
"It’s over between us," she murmured.
The world collapsed around me. There was nothing left to do; Jenna had already made her decision. I looked at her in pain, tears running down my cheeks as she gazed at me with sadness, the pain visible on her face.
"I’m sorry..." she added in a broken voice.
I bit my lower lip, trying to stifle a sob, and bowed my head, hiding my emotions. My heart was shattered, and a feeling of emptiness dominated my stomach. It was over. I turned my back and walked away from the set, the awareness that Jenna had left me dominating my thoughts.
Don’t turn back. Don’t turn back. Don’t go to her to try to change her mind. Don’t look into her eyes.
Don’t do anything.
Just move forward, even though the world had fallen apart.

Hades:
In the dimly lit meeting room located in the underworldly realm of Helheim.
Hades found himself presiding over yet another gathering together with other formidable figures.
Y/n, his partner who was only there for moral support like usual, could care less about what they spoke about when the weight of exhaustion and struggle to stay awake hit them like a heavy brick.
Living with Hades and being his lover, while luxurious, was still a burden to handle at times.
Especially when the god was met with so many constant schedules and tasks he would have to attend and keep up with.
Much to y/n's dismay, who not only wanted to be there for Hades using their own spare time to follow him around.
They also wanted to spend time with their beloved king alone, which was a rare occurrence.
As the talk of afterlife's affairs droned on for hours and the flickering torches cast eerie shadows on the cavernous walls, y/n's sleep deprived state only worsend over time.
Hades, who continued his stern discourse in front of his important guests, took notice in y/n's eyes, closing involuntarily, just across from where he stood.
He almost felt guilty to have dragged y/n out here when they could have stayed at home resting. But y/n was always so persistent!
The gentle hum of conversation became a distant murmur as y/n drifted into a peaceful slumber, head resting on the cold, obsidian table.
Eventually the meeting concluded, and the attendees filed out without questioning why Hades's love was asleep, leaving them alone to have their moment of peace.
Uncharacteristically, a softer expression crossed the lord of the underworld's face as he observed Y/n's serene repose. Hades was pondering if he should wake y/n up but.. Something held him back.
He gently strokes his hand through y/n's hair, taking it behind their ear before whispering in a low and soft tone to himself, but targeted towards his partner.
"My precious, already sound asleep when you could have just told me you wanted to stay home today~"
Deciding to not wake up Y/n, Hades carefully summoned a cloak and draped it over them both, creating a makeshift cocoon of warmth to carry his love.
The chilly ambiance of Helheim transformed into a surprisingly cosy haven sometimes, especially when you'd be all cuddled up.
Hades, normally not the type to do these things, now revealed a gentler side.
While adjusting Y/n's position to ensure their comfort, the man picks them up with his strong arms. Making sure y/n's head rests nicely and steady on his wide and surprisingly warm shoulder.
The god allowed himself a rare vulnerability, watching over Y/n with a small grin and a protective gaze.
As the flickering torches cast dancing shadows, the silence enveloped the room, broken only by the tapping of the man's shoes against the stone flooring.
Hades decided the next best thing to do was to bring y/n back to their chambers and perhaps, even he could take a small rest there to enjoy their solitude a bit more.
Hades gently placed y/n onto their queen sized bed, careful not to disturb their peaceful slumber. Settling beside y/n, he couldn't resist the allure of their presence.
The shadows seemed to soften as he pulled them into a warm embrace, wrapping his arms around their sleeping lover and relishing in the moment.
Time passed in the quietude, and as sleep began to claim the god of the dead, y/n stirred. A soft blush tinted their cheeks as they realised the situation.
Nestled in the arms of Hades sent a warm shiver down their spine.
Y/n, not wanting to disturb Hades, who had succumbed to hypnos himself, gently moved closer. A gentle murmur escaped their lips, a tender reminder of the impending responsibilities that awaited the lord of the Underworld.
With a soft touch, they roused Hades, their fingers tracing over the god's sharp features.
"Hades," y/n whispered, their voice a delicate melody in the quiet chamber.
"We had another meeting to attend after the first. It's time to wake up darling.."
Hades, stirred from his slumber, opened his eyes to meet the gaze of y/n.
The vulnerability in that moment was showing itself still, and a rare smile graced the god's lips.
The weight of his responsibilities momentarily lifted as he thought to himself how lucky he was to wake up to y/n everyday.
As Hades and y/n shared a lingering gaze, the gravity of their roles in the Underworld momentarily forgotten, Hades pulled y/n close to press his face against y/n's neck and nuzzle them.
Y/n blushes even more at this and chuckles while combining through the Gods white locks of hair.
"Oh hades~ you really can be a softie huh?"
With a soft nod, Hades agreed and acknowledged the reminder of his duties, yet he couldn't help but savour the warmth of his partner.
"I'm only soft for you.. But only you y/n~"
Buddha:
Buddha, who found himself hesitant to attend another divine meeting between the leader gods of their respective pantheons, to discuss important matters regarding humanity, didn't want to go alone.
So when struck with such a dilemma what does he do? Well he would bring a companion, and decided to bring none other than his most beloved Y/n!
As they entered the grand hall of the gods, Y/n felt a mix of awe, nervousness and exhaustion.
After all, they both had travelled far from their home! Also not to mention the fact y/n had been pulled into this extraordinary gathering a little out of nowhere.
But upon such an offer from their man, how could they possibly refuse such a thing?
They barely got to travel as much as they would have liked.
As the meeting unfolded with gods discussing the fate of humanity. Y/n found themselves rather comfortably seated next to Buddha.
However, soon struggled to stay awake, succumbing to the weariness of the divine environment.
While the discussions continued, Y/n drifted into a gentle slumber, head resting on Buddha's shoulder.
After the gods concluded their deliberations and departed, Buddha, noticing Y/n's fatigue, chuckled softly to himself.
He decided to play a light-hearted prank to wake them up. In his hand, he conjured a piece of his favourite chocolate snack, gently placing it near Y/n's nose.
To his surprise, the sweet aroma stirred Y/n, who slowly opened their eyes.
"Huh, Buddha, what's that delicious smell..?"
Y/n, initially confused, was met with Buddha's playful smile.
The two shared a moment of laughter, breaking the serious atmosphere that lingered after the gods' departure.
Buddha, aware of Y/n's love for snacks, much like his own, decided to extend the lightheartedness of their cute moment further.
"You know, since everyone is gone, we could go find a cosy spot to ourselves and enjoy some more treats~"
Y/n's lit up and they nodded excitedly at Buddha's suggestion! This had been so worth travelling for.
"Oh yes please! I'd love to explore a little around here and then continue resting somewhere very nice."
While they wandered away from the divine hall, Buddha made sure to show y/n around and explore with them!
While they did they found a serene garden hidden within the world of gods, much to y/n and Buddha's enjoyment for their plan.
Sitting down under a giant tree, Buddha and Y/n cuddled closely to each other.
"Oh this is simply divine Buddha, thank you so much for taking me with you~!"
Buddha leaned against the tree while feeding himself and y/n, his partner resting against his chest enjoying the moment and snacks they were fed.
"Me too sweetie, I knew you were the right one to bring with me."
Buddha grins happily, looking down at y/n, his eyes shining with love for them. He leans down and teasingly kisses their cheek.
"Even though you feel asleep during the meeting, which is my thing!"
The couple burst out laughing at Buddha's joking comment, it was true!
Y/n blushes slightly, they couldn't help but smile widely at Buddha's words.
He would usually take the chance to nap during such meetings if it wasn't to his interest.
With the rustling of leaves, Buddha and Y/n savoured the snacks, bonding over their shared love for their special delights.
The garden became a space where they could find peace all to themselves.
Loki:
In the grand halls of Asgard, the gods gathered for a crucial meeting.
Loki, mischievous as ever, had brought y/n along with him.
He claimed he couldn't leave y/n alone at home, but his true intention was to find amusement in y/n's company during the important discussions.
As the meeting unfolded, the weight of the gods' discussions combined with y/n's exhaustion from the day took its toll.
Y/n found it hard to keep their eyes open, succumbing to the lull of drowsiness.
Unbeknownst to them, Loki couldn't resist the opportunity to toy with y/n while maintaining his composure.
Loki leaned in, whispering in y/n's ear, "Sweet y/n, the godly matters bore you to sleep, I see~"
Y/n mumbled a half-conscious response, "No no! Just... tired."
Loki grinned, plotting mischief as the gods continued their discourse.
However, his plans were thwarted when y/n's eyelids drooped further, and they drifted into a peaceful slumber.
When the meeting concluded, and as the gods departed, Loki turned his attention back to y/n.
He marvelled at the serene expression on their peaceful face, finding unexpected adoration replacing his mischievous intentions.
With a gentle touch, he attempted to wake their lover up, calling their name softly or shaking them gently.
But no response or reaction came!
Growing impatient yet oddly fond, Loki decided to resort to a different tactic.
His fingers danced along y/n's sides, tickling them with ease.
In an instant, y/n jolted awake, eyes wide open in surprise.
"Loki! What in helheim are you doing?!" Y/n exclaimed, totally flushed and caught off guard.
He chuckled, pulling y/n close to himself.
"I couldn't resist, my dear. You looked so peaceful, but my attempts at a normal awakening failed."
Rolling their eyes, y/n sighed to themselves.
"You could've just shaken me gently."
"I tried! Either way this way is much more entertaining hehe~"
Loki teased, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he nuzzled himself against y/n's neck.
Despite y/n's initial annoyance, a smile crept onto their face.
The tension dissipated as Loki wrapped his arms around them even tighter than before, his soft kisses tickling y/n's neck.
The god of mischief had traded his tricks for a tender moment, and as you cuddled together in the room, leaving only the intimacy of the two of you.
Poseidon:
Poseidon and Y/n found themselves in a grand hall, attending a crucial meeting among the sea gods.
As discussions flowed, Y/n, overwhelmed by the divine chatter, struggled to keep their eyes open.
Poseidon noticed and chuckled under his breath, finding it entertaining. Though you could barely tell that he was excited, from his serious and unchanging face.
Poseidon leans close to y/n and starts whispering, almost mockingly.
"Someone's having a bit of trouble staying awake, aren't they?"
Y/n, in a half-dreamy state, mumbled a half-hearted response, "No! Just a little bored from... godly matters."
As the meeting concluded and the other ocean gods dispersed, leaving Poseidon and Y/n alone in the now empty hall.
Y/n, succumbing to exhaustion, had dozed off in their seat. Poseidon, finding the situation amusing, decided to take advantage of the moment.
The god finally lets his cold stone of a face change and smirks.
"Well, well, my dear Y/n, it seems the weight of divine matters was a bit too much for you."
Y/n, still half-asleep, groggily responded, "I'm awake, I'm awake... I just closed my eyes for a moment!"
Poseidon raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in his ocean blue eyes.
"A moment? It felt like an eternity. You missed quite an enlightening discussion on ocean currents.."
Y/n, now fully aware of their surroundings, blushed and tried to defend themselves.
"I'm sorry, Poseidon. It's not that I wasn't interested. I just... the ambiance was so soothing."
Poseidon grinned, his godly aura radiating strongly.
"Soothing, you say? Well, maybe you just need a less comfortable place to discuss matters then."
"What? No! Please Poseidon, I truly love the beauty of your halls and wouldn't want to change it for the world."
"Not even to make yourself.. Even more comfortable?"
Y/n blinks, now feeling very confused with the mixed signals they were getting.
"Pardon me love..?"
With a snap of his fingers, the grand hall transformed into a cosy space filled with pillows and soft blankets. Y/n looked around, bewildered.
"What is the meaning of this, are you not going to lecture me?"
"I thought for a change I could be more easy on you, after all you are my lover. Now, let's catch up on the discussion, shall we?"
As they settled into the comfortable space, Poseidon pulled Y/n into a playful embrace.
The serious tone of the meeting and his was replaced by laughter and gentle teasing. Something Y/n definitely had to get used to!
"But seriously darling. Clearly, the weight of godly responsibilities is too much for you to bear."
Y/n rolled their eyes, there he went again insisting.
"Oh, please. You're one to talk, Lord of the Sea. Your ocean currents lecture nearly put me to sleep."
Poseidon chuckled, his selden heard laughter echoing through the transformed hall.
The god, known for his seriousness, was now wrapped in the warmth of his love's presence, turning an important meeting into an unexpected cuddle session.
But of course, still making sure y/n caught up on what they had missed.
And so, surrounded by the divine comfort of their impromptu sanctuary, Poseidon continued to playfully lecture Y/n.
Both revel in the joy of each other's company amidst their responsibilities.

-
busy.
you had been busy (the exact opposite of what others this season should be) going on back-to-back missions, scouting and clearing out no-hunt zones instead of taking time off and spending it with loved ones, and spending the other half of your time writing up reports instead of window shopping and checking off gifts for everyone on your long-forgotten list.
on top of trying to get through as much work as possible, you weren't even sure if you were going to have anyone to spend christmas with this year, aside from your grandma.
caleb usually kept you updated on when he was supposed to have a break, but it seemed this time around was different as you fished your phone from your pocket, checking your messages for the upteenth time today only to see your messages still left on delivered.
you sighed.
at least there's gram you thought, putting your phone away and focusing all your attention back on the various bags that filled your arms.
after the miracle that was getting off from work early, you were out doing some last-minute christmas shopping.
not your finest moment, and most definitely not your favorite, but your second miracle of the day came in the form of snagging everything you had in mind for everyone on your list.
your mind drifted to caleb's gift and you couldn't help but second guess yourself, wondering if he would even like it.
not that it was something you had to worry too much about right now, considering you weren't even sure when he would end up opening it.
you sigh again, watching the puffed out air float through the air, courtesy of the cold.
passing by the couples on the street seemed to dampen your mood further.
how you wished caleb were here to accompany you like that.
you hurried your steps. all you wanted to do now was to get home and sleep the rest of the day away (only after setting up the rest of the decorations around the place).
your wish drifts away on the chilly evening air as you continue down the street, the ideas for decor placement and wrapping gifts filling your head.
-
when you decided to walk to do your errands today, you didn't expect to regret it when you realized just how much shopping you did, bags seeming to weigh you down with each step growing a little heavier as you approached your home.
you breathe a sigh of relief when the house comes into view, fishing out the key from your coat pocket as you finally reach the doorstep to your childhood home. you quickly insert the key and unlock the door with a click.
in your tired state, you don't fully register the pleasant smell wafting through the door as you nudge your way in, swiftly shutting it behind you with your foot and locking it out of habit before you begin the trek to your room.
you don't take notice of the humming in the kitchen floating through the living space as you push open the door to your bedroom and drop all the bags on the floor.
you don't notice the footsteps that make their way towards your bed shortly after you plop down on top of it, nuzzling into the soft blanket telling yourself just for a moment.
"no proper greeting for gege, pipsqueak? frankly, i'm hurt."
"..."
you think you must be dreaming.
you think you must miss caleb so badly without even realizing it that your thoughts are not only consumed by him, but now you're hearing his voice in the grips of your fatigue.
"are you going to keep pretending to be asleep? after gege cooked for you too...."
"..."
theres no way you're dreaming.
your eyes shoot open.
when they do, you're met with the sight of none other than caleb standing before you, arms crossed over his chest, head slightly tilted, expression somewhere between mock-pensive and teasing as he stares down at you.
"caleb?!"
his eyes glimmer with mischief.
"oh, so you are awake."
you bolt upright in bed, eyes wide.
"what ar- how- when did you get here???"
an airy chuckle leaves him at your stammering before he leans forward slightly.
"hmm.. a couple hours ago, give or take?"
you gape at him, still processing him standing right before you. he takes advantage of your shock and reaches a hand out, playfully ruffling your hair.
"but a certain hunter was too tired to notice until now..." he shakes his head in mock disdain. "how disappointing. do i mean so little to you?"
the hand that was reached out clutches over his heart when he says this, faux hurt expression taking over his features.
momentarily ignoring his jesting, you answer with another question.
"why didn't you tell me you were coming???" you mean to sound harsh, but it comes out whiny instead.
he wants to laugh at your tone, almost feeling bad for ignoring your messages to keep his arrival a secret.
"maybe," his hand moves towards his chin, a single index finger pointed up as it hovers over his lips.
"gege wanted to surprise you," he winks.
despite his teasing (that inwardly infuriates you to no end) you're so pleased to see him that, given the proximity, your arms reach forward, wrapping around his waist as your face falls into his chest before squeezing tight.
"h-hey, pipsqueak-"
caleb startles at the sudden action, peering down at you and hoping you can't hear how his heart has begun racing because of you.
but the affection is in no way unwelcome, something he makes sure to reciprocate as he slings one arm around your back, other hand reaching up to pat your head softly.
he sighs.
"did you really miss me that much?"
your voice is muffled, comfortably nuzzled into his chest.
"shut up, caleb."
he laughs again, holding you closer.
"i missed you, too."
his voice is a murmur against your hair, and you think you feel his lips graze the side of your head.
but you make no effort to move, and neither does he.
-
after your long drawn out hug is interrupted by your stomach rumbling, caleb teases you before grabbing one of your hands and leading you to the dining room to an array of prettily displayed dishes.
your mouth practically waters at the sight, taking a seat as your eyes slowly drag over everything, eager to get your hands on everything all at once.
"don't wait on my account, pipsqueak. dig in."
your gaze shifts from him, to the food, and then back, pausing for a moment.
"i'll just grab a-"
"ive got it, don't get up and eat already," he cuts you off, already next to the fridge grabbing two drinks and making his way back to the table, taking the seat in front of you.
you thank him before filling your plate with a little of everything, having missed his cooking after so long.
after spending some time catching up over the food (and your countless praises for caleb's cooking, all of which he laughed at, responding with "how do you manage without me for so long?") a certain question lingers in caleb's mind before finding the time to ask it.
"so, pipsqueak," he begins.
you grab your drink, glancing up at him to show you're listening.
"any of the hunters grab your attention?"
you tilt your head, bringing the cup closer to you.
"what do you mean?"
"i mean," a certain look takes over his eyes, but you're not sure what exactly it is.
"do you like anyone?"
you're so startled by the question that you sputter your drink before breaking into a small fit of coughs.
caleb scoots his chair back, ready to help you before you quickly calm down, gesturing that you're fine.
"woah, didn't mean for that to happen," he grins.
"why the hell would you ask me something like that???"
he shrugs.
"dunno. you're a cutie, so who knows, maybe someone took note of that and made a move?"
your heart flutters.
he thinks you're cute? or was he just teasing you again?
"so?"
you scoff.
"if you must know... the answer is no."
relief floods caleb's system, and he doesn't realize it overtakes his features as well before you add:
"why do you seem so pleased? do you want me to stay by myself forever or something?" you roll your eyes.
because i want you all to myself, he thinks.
"because id wanna make sure they're perfect for you," he lies, lazy grin spreading across his face.
you're the one who's perfect for me, you think.
but you don't say this, only playfully scoffing at his words before responding.
"yeah, right, you'd just scare them away."
damn right, he thinks, but only laughs in response.
"well, if they have a problem with me, then that's already a red flag, isn't it?"
"i guess so..."
you begin to pick at your food again when a thought crosses your mind.
if he's being nosy about my love life, does that mean i don't have a chance at all?
your heart sinks at the thought of losing him to someone else.
"well, what about you?"
"hm?"
you look up at him, gaze holding something like fiery determination- it throws him off.
"are you seeing anyone?"
he looks back at you, heart almost bursting at what seems like a jealous pout overtaking your face.
he smiles.
as if i could think of anyone but you.
"nope, nothing going on in my love life," he speaks plainly, and watches as you breathe a small sigh of relief, your eyes relaxing and lips morphing into a little grin as you look back down at your plate.
"oh," you say simply.
he thinks about teasing you, but lets you be for now as you happily continue chowing down on your homemade dinner.
a sight caleb wishes to witness every day, if given the chance.
-
after you help with washing the dishes (insistent in your begging, making caleb finally give in after countless minutes of trying to get you to rest and repeating how he could handle it), you both settle on the idea of watching a movie together in the living room.
after a quick well-needed rinse off and dressed in comfortable nightwear, you make your way to the living room.
somewhere in the midst of dinner, it had begun snowing outside, and despite being shielded from it indoors, a chill still somehow surrounded the living area, pulling a shiver from you.
"cold, pipsqueak?"
caleb is already sat on the sofa, one arm draped over the back of it grasping the remote, head propped up on his other fist as he browses through the selection of festive movies on the tv.
you nod quickly as you make your way towards him, noting the fluffy blanket draped over his lap.
you sit down, reaching for it before he stops you.
"hey, you're not the only one who's cold!"
"you're wearing sweatpants, how cold could you possibly be?"
"no one forced you to wear that cute little nightgown~"
"that's my blanket in the first place!"
"and who gifted it to you, huh?"
"you-!"
"just sit next to me so we can share it."
you blink.
"oh-"
"or... would you rather sit on my lap?"
you feel your face erupt into flames.
"wha- whe- why would you say that?!?"
he laughs at your embarrassment.
"what? its just like when we were kids, remember?"
while the offer is tempting, you're sure he's just teasing you again.
you settle for lifting the blanket on your side and scooting closer to him before draping it over yourself.
"yeah well... ill be just fine right here."
he shrugs, still smiling at you.
"suit yourself."
he clicks on a movie, the opening beginning to play when he pipes up again.
"but if you happen to change your mind-"
"like hell!" you whisper-shout in pure embarrassment, bringing the blanket up to cover the bottom half of your face.
he laughs again when the actual movie begins, a comfortable silence enveloping the space as you both watch the starting scene.
-
about fifteen minutes into the movie, you're only acutely aware of what's taking place onscreen.
while his eyes have been glued to the screen, yours have had trouble doing the same, drifting over to seemingly study caleb's side profile before catching yourself and redirecting your attention.
over and over and over again.
he knows you think he doesn't notice, but he's fighting a smirk and teasing comment, reveling in the attention you're giving him, wanting to bask in it for a little longer while simultaneously hoping you'll make some kind of move.
. . .
thirty minutes into the movie, youre not sure you can take it anymore.
after inwardly fighting with yourself for the past ten minutes, you decide to inch closer to him, having the cold as an excuse ready to use (should he say anything) and hoping the dim lighting of the living area (courtesy of caleb, insisting that movies are always better in the dark) will hide your movement enough so he doesn't notice in the first place.
you clench the blanket closer to you as you make your move.
his eyes are still glued to the screen.
he doesn't notice.
five minutes pass.
you shuffle a little bit closer.
"..."
he still doesn't seem to notice.
with the way you're sitting, your knees will knock together if you move any closer.
so you shift your sitting position.
five more minutes pass, and you inch closer once more.
your eyes locked on the screen, you don't quite catch his side glance before he refocuses.
he holds in a laugh.
he's noticed each movement, but finds it cute that you think he hasn't, but can't tell if you want him to or not.
so he shifts his own position, now leaning a little closer your way, and waits.
five more minutes pass.
you glance to the side.
he smirks.
when you go to close the rest of the distance, he turns to you, causing you to freeze. he uses the opportunity to grab your cheeks with one hand and force your gaze to meet his.
"getting a little close there, pipsqueak."
his voice is a low murmur, a pleasant disturbance in the quiet that surrounded you both, but given your proximity you hear it that much clearer, heart rate picking up at being caught.
"i was-"
"what? you were cold?"
you jolt at his ability to see right through you.
"i told you," he leans closer to your ear before whispering.
"if you changed your mind, to let me know."
he pulls back enough to look at you again, and feels his face go warm.
here you are, so close to him, eyes open and honest as emotion swirls within them, cheeks squished cutely with his soft yet firm grip on them, lips slightly puckered because of it-
he tries to steady his breathing.
and it seems like, for once today, you could read his mind this time.
"caleb..." the way his name sounds from your lips right now- so breathy and sweet- does something to him.
he releases your cheeks, hand slipping to one side to cup one instead.
"what would happen if i just..." he trails off, his eyes trained on your lips.
his voice is just barely audible, but you hear it with the closeness.
you think you might die right here.
"try it," you urge, voice a pleading whisper.
he meets your eyes again and his look suddenly hardens.
"dodge if you don't want this."
those are the last words he utters before slowly moving in, tilting his head and shutting his eyes.
your eyes widen when his lips meet yours, eyes slowly slipping shut before you reciprocate, lips melding together perfectly, longingly, as if you'd both waited an eternity for this moment.
you slip your arms around his neck pulling him closer- and invitation to devour your lips whole.
the kiss gets more intense with each passing second, so caught in your lips moving in sync that you barely register being lightly pushed down against the soft cushions of the sofa, caleb following as he now hovers above you, chasing after your lips the entire way.
you're not sure how much time has passed before he finally pulls away from you, breaths heavy as he marvels down at you.
your gown is in slight disarray, chest rising up and down as you catch your own breath, eyes slightly glazed over and lips shiny and slightly swollen from him.
but youre staring up at him as that cute little smile curls on your lips, making him want to dive right back in.
"wow," you breathe out, no other words to describe the moment coming to your hazy mind.
"wow," caleb mimics. "you all warmed up now?" he pants.
you pout, hitting his arm lightly.
"so cruel..." he jokes, hand moving to pet your head.
he stares, admiring you for a minute before breathing out a laugh.
"man, am i glad you didn't dodge."
you look up at him, confusion swimming in your irises as a small frown makes its way to your lips.
"why would i?"
his heart stutters.
"well, even if you liked me that much, i didn't think you'd actually make a move."
your eyes widen, and despite the initial urge to bite back at his words, you decide to be honest since everything is out on the table, despite your rapidly racing heart.
"its all i've ever wanted."
god, he thinks he could die right now and be a happy man as his soul flies free.
"s' that why you were so jealous earlier at the mention of love lives?"
you huff, looking to the side.
"well, since you asked first, i figured it meant there was no hope for me."
you're just too cute, he thinks.
"in my case, i needed to check if there was anyone i needed to beat up."
your eyes fly back to him.
"caleb!"
"what? you think im joking, but i mean it."
he leans down close again, noses almost touching.
"if someone else had caught your interest, im not sure what i'd do with myself..."
a smile graces your face once more as you look up at him through your lashes.
"well," you whisper, "good thing i'm all yours."
an hour and fifteen minutes into the movie and it plays forgotten, background noise to a new love that blooms right before it. and in the midst of it all, despite the agonizing amount of time it took to get here, you both could spend christmas together in the way you'd always wanted: as devoted lovers.
-
epilogue:
"actually, i got you something!"
"oh? you didn't have to.."
"you say that every year, but you know i do anyways."
"well, what is it this time?"
"you'll just have to wait to open it~"
your expression turns worried suddenly.
"i just hope that you'll like it..."
noting this, he grips your chin, turning your head towards him before placing a chaste kiss onto your lips.
"pipsqueak, you're already the greatest christmas gift i could have gotten. whatever it is you bought for me, i'll love it for sure."
you feel relief and tingles flood your system all at once.
"okay," you breathe, giving him a kiss back.
come christmas, he's pleased at the silly 'kiss the cook' apron (that he knows will now be put to good use), a new cutlery set, and a pretty iron ring that adorns his middle finger.
you yourself are pleased with the anklet with an apple charm, as well as a cute apple phone charm that you waste no time in strapping onto your phone.
but despite the gifts, you both agree that the greatest gift was each other.
-

The living room smells of cinnamon and pine. The tree is already up in the corner, draped in twinkling lights and glittering ornaments, though the star at the top waits patiently in its box on the coffee table. You want Tony to put it up with you—one of the little traditions you’ve built together over the past couple of years. Your phone sits propped on the arm of the couch, playlist cycling through Christmas classics as you hum along, arms full of ribbon and paper. The gifts you’ve been quietly sneaking into the house are finally getting wrapped.
It’s one of those moments where the house feels just right. The kind of warmth and peace that makes you smile without realizing it. Outside the frosty windows, a light snow drifts down. You glance at the weather and wonder if Tony’s flight will come in on time. You’ve been anticipating his arrival like a kid waiting for Santa—counting down days, hours, and minutes until he’s back.
The sound of your phone buzzing pulls you out of the wrapping haze. Your heart leaps with the familiar tone of Tony’s incoming call, and you swipe to answer, eager to see him. The screen flickers, and there he is, a little grainy from the connection but still breathtakingly Tony. His trademark smirk softens when he sees you, and despite the distance, you feel a rush of warmth.
"Hey, sweetheart," he says, his voice threaded with that weary edge you know too well. Missions take their toll, and this one’s been dragging for days already. Still, he looks at you like you’re the only thing keeping him sane.
"Tony!" you chirp, setting the half-wrapped present aside. "You have perfect timing. I was just about to start on your gift, but I guess the surprise would’ve been ruined."
He chuckles, a sound that makes your heart squeeze. "Caught you red-handed, huh? Maybe I planned it this way." His expression falters for just a second, a flicker of something you can’t quite place.
"You okay?" you ask, leaning closer to the screen. "You look tired."
"Yeah," he says, but there’s a weight to it. "About that… Look, I hate to do this—especially now—but the mission’s gotten a little more complicated. I’m going to be out here longer than I thought."
The words sink like stones in water. Your heart skips, then thuds painfully, and you feel the cheer of the room dim. "How much longer?" you ask, even though you can hear the answer coming in the hesitation on his face.
He looks away for a moment, rubbing the back of his neck. "I probably won’t make it back by Christmas."
You sit back, the weight of it pressing on your chest. Christmas without Tony. It’s unthinkable, but the reality of it is staring you down through the screen. "Oh," you manage, your voice quieter than you’d like. "I—I mean, I get it. You’ve got to save the world and all."
"Y/N…" He leans closer, like he wishes he could reach through the screen. "I’m sorry. I know how much Christmas means to you. I tried to wrap things up in time, but it’s just not happening."
"It’s okay," you say automatically, though the lump in your throat betrays you. You don’t want to make him feel worse than he already does, but the idea of spending Christmas alone sends a pang through you. "I know it’s not your fault."
His face softens in a way that makes it harder, not easier. "You sure? Because if there’s anything I can—"
"No," you cut him off, forcing a smile you don’t quite feel. "No, really. I’ll be fine. Just promise me you’ll stay safe, okay?"
"I promise," he says, his voice low and steady. "You’re too good to me, you know that?"
You laugh, though it comes out more brittle than you intended. "Someone’s got to keep you humble."
"Keep the tree warm for me," he says, and his smile is back, even if it’s tinged with regret. "I’ll make it up to you, I swear."
"You better," you tease, though your voice cracks slightly. "I expect something shiny under that tree when you do."
"It’s a deal," he says, and for a moment, you just look at each other, neither of you wanting to end the call. Finally, he sighs. "I should go. But I’ll check in when I can. Love you, Y/N."
"Love you too, Tony." The call ends, and the screen goes dark, leaving you staring at your own reflection in the glass.
The house feels too quiet now. The music still plays, but it doesn’t seem as cheery. You sit for a moment, the roll of wrapping paper abandoned beside you. The ache of missing him settles in, but you shake your head, trying to push it aside. It’s not like you didn’t know this was part of loving Tony Stark. He’s Iron Man, after all. Saving the world comes with the territory.
Still, you’d be lying if you said it didn’t hurt.
You force yourself back to the task at hand, wrapping gifts with renewed determination. If Tony can’t be here, you’ll make the most of it anyway. You’ll put up the star, drink the eggnog, and watch the cheesy holiday movies you’d picked out for the two of you. He’d want you to enjoy it, even if he can’t be part of it.
The hours slip by, and the house fills with the quiet hum of your efforts. You finish wrapping the last gift, arrange them neatly under the tree, and light a candle that smells of peppermint. The ache in your chest lingers, but you try to focus on the little things, the things you can control.
Later, as you sit by the fire with a mug of cocoa, you let yourself daydream about what it’ll be like when Tony does come home. You picture him sweeping you up in one of his dramatic airport reunions, showering you with that over-the-top charm that only he can pull off. You’ll tell him how much you missed him, and he’ll tease you for being so sentimental, even though you know he missed you just as much. The thought brings a small smile to your lips.
The snow falls heavier outside, blanketing the world in white. You curl up under a blanket, watching the lights on the tree twinkle softly in the dim room. It’s not the Christmas you planned, but as you sit there, you remind yourself that loving Tony means taking the good with the bad. And no matter where he is, you know he’s thinking of you. That has to be enough—for now.
The week before Christmas is quieter than you expected it to be. The festive buzz around the city doesn’t reach you in the same way it usually does. The joy of decorating, baking, and planning feels hollow without Tony to share it with. You go through the motions, trying to keep yourself busy. Wrapping presents, watching Christmas movies, and even putting up the star on the tree—all of it feels muted. There’s no one to laugh with you when you drop half the sprinkles on the floor, or to playfully complain about the holiday music you insist on keeping on repeat.
You try not to let it get to you. Tony’s doing something important; you know that. You tell yourself that he wouldn’t be away unless it was absolutely necessary. But every time you see the empty space beside you on the couch or pass by the photo of the two of you laughing in front of last year’s Christmas tree, your chest tightens.
He calls when he can, though the timing is sporadic. It’s usually late at night when you’re bundled in pajamas, the house quiet around you. The grainy video calls are the highlight of your day, even if they’re brief. He always has that same soft smile when he sees you, the one that makes you feel like maybe, just maybe, things will be okay.
On one of those calls, a week before Christmas, you decide to bring it up. You’ve been holding onto the idea of sharing at least a small moment with him on Christmas. Even if he can’t be here, maybe a video call at midnight would be enough to close the distance.
"Hey," you say, trying to sound casual as you lean closer to the screen. "I was thinking… Since you can’t be back by Christmas, what if we video call at midnight? You know, to celebrate together in some way. It’s not the same, but… it’s something."
Tony’s face shifts, and the easy smile falters. There’s something guarded in his expression now, and you feel your stomach twist before he even says a word.
"Y/N," he starts, his tone careful, as if he’s trying to figure out how to soften the blow. "I was going to tell you… The mission’s entering a different phase. It’s more secure now—strictly off-grid. I won’t be able to call you anymore until it’s done."
The words hit like a punch to the chest. Your breath catches, and for a moment, you just stare at the screen, trying to process what he’s saying. No calls. No texts. No way to hear his voice or see his face for who knows how long.
"Not at all?" you ask, your voice small and unsteady.
He shakes his head, guilt etched into every line of his face. "Not at all. It’s protocol—classified stuff. I hate it as much as you do, believe me."
You bite your lip, fighting the tears that are already threatening to fall. "So, that’s it? You’re just… gone until whenever this mission’s done?"
"Y/N," he says softly, leaning closer to the screen as if he can somehow reach you. "I don’t want this any more than you do. If I could, I’d drop everything and come home right now. But I can’t. And I hate that I’m leaving you alone during Christmas—especially Christmas."
You want to tell him it’s okay, that you understand. But the words stick in your throat. It doesn’t feel okay. Not at all. Christmas is supposed to be about togetherness, warmth, and love. And now the one person you want to share it with is being pulled away even further.
"I know you have to do this," you say finally, your voice barely above a whisper. "But it feels like… like everything is just slipping away this year. First, you’re not here, and now I can’t even talk to you? It’s—it’s a lot, Tony."
He looks down, his jaw tightening, and when he speaks again, his voice is heavy with regret. "I know. And I’m so sorry, Y/N. I wish I could make this easier for you—for us. But you have to know how much I love you, even if I can’t say it every day. That doesn’t change."
Your heart aches at his words. You know he means them, but it doesn’t stop the pain. Tears spill over despite your best efforts, and you quickly swipe at them, not wanting to break down completely in front of him. "I just miss you," you say, your voice cracking. "I miss you so much, and it’s hard knowing I won’t even have you for Christmas."
Tony’s face crumples, and for a moment, he looks as helpless as you feel. "I miss you too, more than I can put into words. And when I get back, I’m going to make this up to you, I swear."
"When?" you ask, though you know he doesn’t have an answer. The uncertainty stretches between you like a chasm.
"I don’t know," he admits quietly. "But as soon as I can. That’s a promise."
You nod, though it doesn’t feel like enough. There’s so much you want to say, but the words get caught somewhere between anger and sadness. Instead, you stare at him, memorizing every detail of his face—the way his eyes soften when they meet yours, the faint stubble on his jaw, the warmth in his gaze even now.
"I love you," you say finally, your voice trembling. "Even if it hurts right now."
"I love you too, Y/N," he says, his voice breaking just a little. "Always."
The call ends not long after, and as the screen goes dark, the silence of the house feels suffocating. You press your hand to your chest, trying to steady the ache that feels too big to contain.
Christmas is going to be harder than you imagined.
The house is quiet, almost too quiet for Christmas Eve. You sit curled up on the couch in your coziest pajamas, the flickering lights of the Christmas tree casting soft shadows around the room. A holiday movie plays in the background, but you haven’t been paying attention to it for the past hour. Your phone sits beside you on the coffee table, its screen dark, a constant reminder that there’s no call coming this time.
Your friends had called earlier, trying to coax you into joining them for a little Christmas Eve celebration. They’d promised laughter, food, and distraction from the heaviness that’s been weighing on you. But you couldn’t bring yourself to go. The thought of smiling and pretending to be okay when your heart feels so heavy didn’t appeal to you.
Instead, you’d stayed home, trying to cling to the smallest fragments of holiday spirit. But it’s hard. The room feels too big, too empty without Tony. Midnight is only minutes away, and with every passing second, the ache in your chest deepens.
You glance at the clock—11:59. In one more minute, it’ll officially be Christmas, but it doesn’t feel like it. It feels like any other lonely night, only worse because it’s supposed to be magical. Your fingers tighten around the edge of the blanket draped over you, and you take a shaky breath, willing yourself not to cry.
The clock ticks over to 12:00. Christmas. You squeeze your eyes shut, biting your lip hard to keep the tears at bay.
Suddenly, a knock echoes through the quiet house.
Your heart leaps, then immediately sinks. You tell yourself not to get your hopes up. It’s probably a neighbor or someone who got the wrong house. Still, you stand, your steps hesitant as you move toward the door.
The knock comes again, more insistent this time.
"Coming," you call, though your voice is barely above a whisper.
You unlock the door and pull it open, and the breath rushes out of you.
"Tony," you whisper, staring at him in disbelief.
There he is, standing on your snowy doorstep, looking tired and a little disheveled but very much alive. His hair is tousled, his jacket dusted with snow, and there’s a sheepish smile tugging at his lips.
"Surprise," he says, his voice warm and full of relief.
For a moment, you can’t move. You just stare at him, your mind racing to catch up with what your eyes are seeing. Then, before you can stop yourself, you throw your arms around him, holding him as tightly as you can.
"You’re here," you choke out, your voice muffled against his shoulder. "You’re actually here."
He wraps his arms around you just as tightly, burying his face in your hair. "I couldn’t stay away," he murmurs. "Not for Christmas. Not when I knew how much it meant to you."
Pulling back slightly, you look up at him, your eyes searching his face. "But the mission—you said you couldn’t call, and I thought—"
"I wrapped it up faster than expected," he says, brushing a strand of hair out of your face. "I pulled a few strings, worked a little Stark magic. There was no way I was going to let you spend Christmas without me."
The tears you’ve been holding back all night finally spill over, but this time, they’re tears of relief. You laugh through them, shaking your head. "You have no idea how much I missed you."
"Oh, I have an idea," he says, his tone teasing but his eyes soft. "Because I missed you just as much."
He leans down, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead, then your cheek, and finally your lips. It’s warm and full of all the things neither of you can quite put into words.
When he pulls back, he glances past you at the Christmas tree glowing softly in the corner. "Looks like I made it just in time," he says, his smile widening.
"You did," you say, wiping at your cheeks. "You really did."
He steps inside, kicking the snow off his boots, and you close the door behind him. The room feels different now, brighter and warmer, like the Christmas magic you’ve been waiting for all season has finally arrived.
As he shrugs off his coat, he reaches into the pocket and pulls out a small box, holding it out to you with a grin. "I wasn’t kidding when I said I’d make it up to you. Merry Christmas, sweetheart."
You laugh, taking the box and opening it to reveal a delicate necklace with a tiny, shimmering star charm. Your breath catches, and you look up at him, your heart full to bursting.
"It’s perfect," you say, your voice barely above a whisper.
He smiles, pulling you into another hug. "You’re perfect," he murmurs.
For the first time all season, it finally feels like Christmas. And as you sit together by the tree, your heart full and his hand warm in yours, you know this is a moment you’ll never forget.
You curl up against Tony on the couch, the warm glow of the fireplace illuminating the room as the faint crackle of logs fills the air. His arms are wrapped around you, holding you close like he never wants to let go. For the first time in weeks, your heart feels light, the ache of missing him replaced by the steady comfort of his presence.
But there’s a lingering curiosity in the back of your mind, one that’s been nagging at you ever since he showed up at your door. You lean your head back to look at him, a faint smile tugging at your lips.
"Okay, spill," you say, narrowing your eyes playfully. "How did you really get here? Last I checked, your mission was supposed to be classified and impossible to leave. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled you’re here, but I know you, Tony. You don’t just pull strings. You rip them right out of the piano."
He chuckles, his chest rumbling beneath you as he shifts to meet your gaze. "You know me too well," he says, brushing a strand of hair away from your face. "Fine, you want the truth? It’s a little embarrassing, but here goes."
You raise an eyebrow, intrigued. "I’m all ears, Stark."
He takes a deep breath, his lips twitching into a smirk. "So, the team I was working with… Let’s just say they weren’t exactly operating at peak efficiency. A lot of standing around, too much red tape, and way too much talking about doing things instead of actually doing them. After about three days of that, I hit my limit."
You bite back a laugh, imagining Tony’s frustration. "Let me guess—you took matters into your own hands?"
"Of course I did," he says, grinning now. "I’m Tony Stark. I’m not built for inefficiency. I started doing my own research, cross-referencing every bit of intel we had, building my own models, running simulations. And guess what? Turns out, when you stop waiting for a committee to make a decision, you can actually get things done."
You can’t help but laugh, shaking your head. "You solved it, didn’t you?"
"Five days," he says, holding up a hand like it’s a trophy. "Five days, and I had the bad guy’s location, his entire operation mapped out, and a strategy to take him down. I handed the team my findings on a silver platter and told them to execute it while I booked it home."
"Unbelievable," you say, your laughter mixing with genuine admiration. "You’re a genius, you know that?"
"Yeah, but it’s nice to hear it from you," he quips, pulling you closer. "Although I’ll admit, my motivation wasn’t exactly pure."
"Let me guess—me?" you say, teasing but already knowing the answer.
"Of course you," he says, his voice dropping to a softer, more serious tone. "I couldn’t stand the thought of you being here, alone, on Christmas. I know how much this time of year means to you, and the idea of missing it… missing you… It wasn’t an option. I had to make it happen."
Your heart swells, and you lean up to kiss him, slow and lingering. His hand slides to your cheek, holding you there as the kiss deepens. The warmth of the fire blends with the heat of his touch, and you feel yourself melting into him.
His lips trail from your mouth to your jaw, then lower, finding the sensitive spot just below your ear that always sends shivers down your spine. His hand moves to your waist, fingers brushing against the edge of your shirt, and your breath catches.
"Tony," you murmur, your voice a mix of hesitation and longing.
"Hmm?" he replies against your skin, his voice low and teasing.
You pull back slightly, placing a hand on his chest to stop him. His eyes meet yours, darkened with desire but immediately softening when he notices the hesitation in your expression.
"Wait," you say, a small smile tugging at your lips. "I want to give you your gift first."
He blinks, surprised, then sits back, tilting his head as he studies you. "My gift? I thought I already got it when you opened the door and let me in."
"Nice try," you say, laughing softly. "But no, this is something I’ve been working on for a while, and I’ve been dying to give it to you. Just… wait here, okay?"
He nods, his curiosity piqued. "You’ve got my full attention, sweetheart."
You climb off the couch and hurry to the bedroom, where you’d hidden the gift beneath a pile of blankets in the closet. It’s wrapped neatly in glossy red paper with a gold ribbon, and your heart races as you carry it back to the living room. This wasn’t just any gift; it was something you’d poured your heart into, something you hoped would show him how much he meant to you.
When you return, Tony’s eyes light up as he sees the package in your hands. He sits up straighter, reaching out as you hand it to him.
"Wow," he says, turning it over in his hands. "Fancy wrapping. Should I be worried about what’s inside?"
"Just open it," you say, settling back beside him and tucking your legs under you.
He tugs at the ribbon and carefully peels back the paper, revealing a sleek leather-bound book. He flips it open, his eyes scanning the pages, and you watch as his expression softens.
It’s a scrapbook, filled with photos, handwritten notes, and little mementos from your time together. There are snapshots of the two of you at galas, on lazy mornings in the kitchen, and on spontaneous road trips. You’d included ticket stubs from movies, pressed flowers from a trip to the countryside, and even a napkin with a doodle he’d once scribbled during a coffee date.
"Y/N," he says softly, his fingers brushing over a page where you’d written a heartfelt note about how much he meant to you. "This is… incredible. I don’t even know what to say."
You feel a blush creeping up your cheeks, and you shrug, trying to downplay the nerves bubbling inside you. "I just wanted you to have something that reminds you how much you’re loved. Especially when you’re off doing Iron Man things and we can’t talk. So, even if we’re apart, you’ll always have this."
He looks up at you, and the emotion in his eyes takes your breath away. "This is the best gift I’ve ever gotten," he says, his voice thick with sincerity. "You have no idea how much this means to me."
You smile, leaning against him as he pulls you into a hug. "I’m glad you like it," you whisper, feeling his arms tighten around you.
"I love it," he says, his lips brushing against your temple. "And I love you."
"I love you too," you say, tilting your head up to kiss him again.
This time, the kiss is slow and sweet, a promise of everything you’ve shared and everything still to come. The fire crackles in the background, and the snow continues to fall outside, but in this moment, it’s just the two of you, wrapped up in each other and the magic of Christmas.
