Summary: It’s Dean's 45th birthday and you will celebrate it.

A/N: A short drabble for his 45th birthday. Take this canon. You cannot stop me!

A single moment. One false step and you almost lost him.

You always feared this is how you are going to lose Dean. In a battle, killed by one of the many things that bump in the night.

It was a close call.

Since that day, you have tried to make the best out of every day you can spend with Dean. Especially when the day is his special day.

January the 24th – his birthday.

You are going to celebrate the day as if there is no tomorrow. When you live the life of a hunter, you never know what will happen next.

“What is all of this?” Sam watches you carry another pie inside the library. You decorated the whole room with balloons, a huge banner saying Happy 45th Birthday, and garlands. “Y/N?”

“A pie for Dean’s birthday,” you quip and go back to decorating the library for the surprise party you planned for Dean’s birthday.

Not many of your friends are still alive, and the rest won’t make it in time for the party. But this didn’t keep you from cooking and baking all night to give Dean the best 45th birthday he could imagine.

“There are like ten pies on the table,” Sam furrows his brows. “Why did you bake so many pies? We are three people and an angel.”

“You only live once,” you shrug before going back to decorating the table. “Dean will get as many pies as he can eat. He’ll get all the pie in the world. I made one of every sort he loves. So, stop moping and help me decorate the room. Dean will be back any minute. He wanted to go for a ride and enjoy the snow is gone.”

“I hope he won’t have a heart attack after eating all the pie,” Sam jokes. “You know he won’t be able to stop eating a slice of every pie you baked for his birthday. His stomach will combust.”

You grin. “That’s the plan, Sam. I will feed my man with so much pie he’ll never complain about getting old again. Dean will be busy complaining about his stomach. I’ll give him belly rubs and—”

“STOP!” Sam raises his hands. “I don’t want to know what comes after the belly rubs.” He shudders. “Please don’t tell me more. No one deserves to hear about the things you and Dean do in the dark.”

“Aw, we don’t do it in the dark, sweet Sammy,” you pat Sam’s chest. “We do it in the morning, during lunch. Sometimes even while having lunch.” You smirk and continue. “Dinner is always special. Dean loves having a snack before the main course. Oh, and we leave the light on. I wanna see the stallion I call my boyfriend when I—”

“I didn’t hear a thing.” Sam puts his index fingers in his ears. “I hate you. Both of you!”

“Sammy! Sweetheart!” Dean calls for you and his brother. “I’m back. Damn, the ride was awesome, and Baby purred like a cat for me. I bet she knows it’s my birth—” He stops in his tracks to drink the decoration in. He hums and wrinkles his nose looking at the big forty-five laughing in his face.

“Happy birthday baby,” you jump in Dean’s arms, giggling as he easily lifts you and helps you wrap your legs around his waistline. “You look good today.” You peck his lips. “We have pie, homemade lasagna, beer, booze, and later…” You dip your head to whisper in his ear. “I’m going to put whipped cream on every important part of you and lick it off.”

“Uh-“ he swallows thickly. “Can we go to the whipped cream part first?” Dean grins when you shake your head. “What else do you have to offer.”

“Ten pies,” Sam says. He points at the table. “Your girlfriend lost her mind, but we still love her.” He says. “I’d hug you and wish you a happy birthday too, but you are occupied with cuddling.”

“We are not cuddling,” Dean grunts, and smirks at his brother. “Not yet, bitch!”

“Jerk,” Sam retorts as always. “Happy birthday man, you don’t look bad for your age.” He grins. “How about you open my present before you unpack something else.”

You let go of Dean and wrap him in a bear hug, whispering Happy birthday again. Sam takes your place when you step away. He hugs his brother and holds him for a moment.

They part after a few moments and nod at each other. Sam steps away and watches his brother sit on a chair.

“I want pie first.” You laugh at Dean’s words. “A slice of every sort!” He exclaims while hungrily staring at the pies on the table. “Damnit, I’ll need bigger pants after this birthday…”

Hey, what's up, hello, I'm Xel, I truly have Donald Duck levels of bad luck and yet I do not have the rage button that makes things work out if I throw a tantrum, which feels like yet another failure of media, what is the deal with this.

I'm having trouble getting everything together and maybe will feel better with some level of stability? I need to do a lot of paperwork. It is proving hard. I have the Tumblr popular suspicions about my level of neurodivergance. (Fun story: I told members of my my family that I have thought in the last two years especially that I might have ADHD or Autism or something, and my cousin said, "Oh, honey *just the last two years?*" Obliterated.)

My abusive dad recently joined a cult and my grandmother thinks he'll try to contact me after 15 years and I'm fucking scared of him and that is Affecting Me in A Way boy howdy.

I do not have the money to pay rent even a little bit! I'm trying to get January and February taken care of maybe? So I can try to exist for this period of time and maybe not have a breakdown or get evicted or something?

Some real not awesome medical junk happening also because why not.

The person who knew the most was Y/n a timid person but with a loud personality that's why Maddy and them got along so well.

Honestly, Jere had enough time to constantly go on vacation, but visiting Bojan for a few days wasn't possible? Sure

Ugh, I should just delete and block, but I’ve seen this attitude around so much, sometimes good-natured, sometimes… not… like here, and I’m honestly so tired of it. 

It’s not a fucking competition, and

We don’t actually know what goes on between them

Just because someone has a break in their gig schedule, doesn’t mean they have time off. There’s so fucking much these guys have going on that we will never see. The toll last year must have taken on Jere is insane. Claiming to know better what he does or doesn’t have time for and what his priorities are is some special kind of behaviour for sure.

I can assure you that Bojere fans have been keeping tabs on every possible time for them to visit each other, and there have only been a few times in the past year it would have been in any way feasible, even with the stuff that we get to see.

Most of the times, like Jere’s birthday, it was pretty far fetched to be honest. The one time I personally really thought it would happen was when JO was in London, and then we found out it was supposed to happen, but something came in the way (either for Jere or for JO, we don’t know). If they knew beforehand that would fall through, would Jere have made more of an effort to visit in January? Who knows?

Point is, we don’t know everything, and making assumptions like “Jere just doesn’t care” is… bold? Idiotic? Ill-natured? Mean? 

Claiming that Bojan is ready to visit Jere at a drop of a hat is pretty weird too (I’ve seen this opinion around as well). He’s done that exactly once. And yeah, that was amazing and unexpected and awesome, but any other time they’ve met is because Joker out had gigs in Finland. That’s it. He has made no more effort than Jere has for over a year. (One might claim that Jere has been the one to make the effort, following them around in Turku and Tampere and Tallinn, clearing his schedule for them. I mean, if someone wanted to make this a competition, which I do not.)

We have no idea what these guys have worked out between them. If Joker out’s gig schedule takes them to Finland enough times to meet regularly (regularly enough for them), why travel the other way? If they’re fine with it, what’s it to us?

On January 7th of 2017, i posted my first song ever. It was a shitty self-insert megalo that never got any likes and barely got listened to. But i didn't really make it to get popular, i knew at the time that that would never happen and i was okay with it, because i didn't make that song for that. That first song was my way of thanking this community for helping me so much during a grim part of my life, to thank YOU, Undertale/Deltarune fan just for being there, creating stuff, and making people happy... I wanted to pay back the happiness this community gave me, and it has been like that ever since.

But now i realize, after 7 years, that... I'm not needed here. Whether i'm here or not, people would still be happy. People would have banger songs to listen to and characters to obsese over, without me. And that's wonderful! I enjoy seeing people happy more than i enjoy seeing myself. Just like in real life too, i'm the kind of person that can disappear from earth, and almost nobody would notice. But it's not like i can blame them, in the last 7 years i've been here i barely talked to anybody, i barely interacted and i barely got any friends.

And also, i'll just never be able to pay my debts with this community. I owe you guys so much, but nothing of what i do will ever be enough, not for me at least. And now i just have nothing to offer. I have no new ideas, i'll have no way of composing in what seems like months at this point, and i just lost my motivation. I've ran out of excuses to justify my presence in this place.

But also, in all honesty... After 7 years of creating stuff, even though i told myself that i never did it for popularity... I just thought i would stop feeling like a nobody, and that i'd stop feeling jealous of everyone else's success on this community. Is that ungrateful of me? Am i being greedy and not appreciative enough of what i got? Honestly, that's another reason of why i decided to leave; i'm just so secretly jealous of every other famous person in this fandom, i just think it'd be unfair for you guys to have a person like me around here. Ungrateful, greedy, jealous.

So i decided it's just time. To give up. To leave.

Once i'm done writing this letter, it'll be over. I'll stop being a musician, and i'll stop being an artist too. But please don't be sad about that. I don't want you to be sad. I want you to keep being happy, living in this fandom, like always. Keep making banger tracks, keep making cool art whether it's of your favorite characters or your own awesome ocs, keep talking to your friends and the people who love you, and overall, just forget about me. Forget about all of this. All my creations, all my characters, songs and concepts, they're not worthy of your praise. But everyone else's stuff is. And now, i guess the question people are more interested in right now is "What will happen to all your stuff then?" Well, as some may have noticed, i've already taken down all of my original tracks from my soundcloud account, except for the covers/songs i made for other people and collabs, which are still up, since they're either not my characters, or i just wasn't the only one that worked on it, and it would be unfair to delete it. The soundcloud account will soon go unnamed, and i'll erase any connection to me it has, so people will be able to listen to those songs, without my name in it. As for my Tumblr and Twitter account... I'm now debating on whether or not to delete them, or just do the same and erase my name from both of them. I also gotta point out the possibility of me regreting this decision, but even if i do, i'm most likely not coming back.

So that's it. But before i go, i want to apologize. For everything.

3. This is the most important thing on this list! Each participant must respond to the email we sent by Monday, November 13th, and the response email must contain your Tumblr username. Saiwa was just about to get Ji Ho ready for his first Therapy Game session, when Noxee called!

Noxee: "BABIES!" Saiwa: "Noxee?!" Noxee: "Have you forgotten what day it is? We have a surprise! Send Ji Ho home, the others are waiting!" Saiwa: "Eh - ok? ö.Ö' " Noxee: "Oh! Greg is awake, see you!" Saiwa: "Noxee?" Jack: "Omg these two! I'm so going to marry her ingame and make her forget that this Greg ever existed!"

And so Ji Ho went home to meet the others. He really misses Jeb.

Noxee ordered Ji Ho and Vlad to port her and Greg over to the Otherworld. Rubyn built something new to try out! Last time they used Rubyn's OTDs (Otherworld Transport Devices) was in January. And only to transport the Boys to the Otherworld. Not to bring someone else here. Lets hope it works!

Of course it worked, since Noxee and Greg helped a bit. They are able to travel to the Otherworld under special circumstances. For example when they helped Jack and Saiwa to find their horses. Here they are! Haha and Kiyoshi is still so excited when Noxee and Greg kiss. Just the opposite of Jack ^^'

They still have no clue what their visit is all about. Noxee: "Boys - seriously? It's Beltane!"

Vlad checks the calendar on his phone. She's right. They totally forgot it over all the crazy stuff that happened lately...

Noxee told them Rubyn invented something new for them so they can travel around in the Otherworld! That was about time! They are stuck here in Otherworld's Tomarang for a few months now since the Council is still after them... They went over to the garage.

Noxee: "Greg and Jeb are going to connect Rubyn's device with the vehicle and then you should be able to travel to other destinations in the Otherworld!" Ji Ho: "That would be awesome! What kind of device is it? And which vehicle?" Noxee: "It's right before your eyes!" Vlad: "The ancient, broken TukTuk?" Jeb: "And an old telephone?" Noxee: "Sure, why not? Why build something new when we can repurpose perfectly fine stuff we already have?" Jeb: "And what's in the bread box?" Greg: "That's for the crystals and the meteorites of course." Jeb: "Of course."

After Greg and Jeb put the crystals and the meteorites in the box and installed the device, they moved the Tuk Tuk out of the garage and Jeb, Kiyoshi, Vlad and Greg climbed inside.

That's one of the cutest things I've ever seen! Poor Vlad in the middle of the two tallest and broadest ^^' Reminds me when Saiwa was cramped up in the middle between Jeb and Barfolomew in Rita's truck when they drove to San Myshuno :3

⚠️WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD Regarding TBHK CHAPTERS 41 to 58 ⚠️

As I Think more about this concept, I come to realization that maybe the Picture perfect arc is the Best way go for a Movie, I completely forgot that after the Severance arc, we get at least 3 whole Arcs before Finally arriving at the far shore, So unless you want to either see stuff get cut out or Sit Through probably a 3 or 4 HOUR movie, the Severance is Not the best option, however if the picture perfect arc were made into a Film, then this would be No problem, after all it's all just 1 arc about 1 singular story, and it doesn't get bumped into multiple other arcs, plus this would be the Perfect way to introduce No.4/ Mei Shijima into the Series, having season 2 probably end with the Picture perfect arc being foreshadowed, and then jumping straight into the movie, giving a nice glimpse of what's to come next; in my opinion, This would the PERFECT way to end season 2

Plus think of All merch you'd sell with this idea, since Mei is an artist you'd probably sell a lot of merch relating to art, like pencils, and art books for the movie, but you'd also have the chance to Sell Posters and other items like pins, T shirts, key chains, and of course, PLUSHIES!!!

Also maybe having art booklets regarding behind the scenes, would be an Awesome thing to Sell as well, just think of the all possibilities this would hope to achieve, Gaining not only money, but also introducing New fans to TBHK as well, growing the Fanbase even More I'd love for this to happen seeing as it IS a Slepted on series and Deserves more recognition, plus think of All the Amazing scenes we'd see adapted into the movie, Seeing stuff Like this Scene

So many beautiful moments to chose from and so many to Adapt, I wanna see this happen so bad and with "Season 2" being Announced I can't help but Wish for this to be true 😖 Because Why else would they release the Spin-off series in October, but release the MAIN series in January? Unless of course, it's to set us up for something, or should I say, SOMEONE (this being Mei shijima)

Plus let's not forget the color scheme for this movie, knowing Aidairo and the Animation team They would be COOKING with this film, Making it even more beautiful than it Already is, Plus the Soundtrack would be Beautiful to hear, the TBHK Soundtrack is 1 of the Best soundtracks I've heard in an Anime, Aside from Madoka magica and SAO's, it has that vibe of Creepy and spooky, but also Angelic and mesmerizing, so imagine that type of Soundtrack in film, you'd have to go All out producing the Best pieces for the Film, especially for something like the Picture perfect arc, having it sound like something straight out of a Dream, setting the tone for something either Creepy, sad, or Beautiful; Making us Not only See the scene, but also FEEL it

Also if my calculations are correct, Demon slayers Mugen train arc was only 6 Chapters, and they were able to make that into a 1 hour long movie, So if this TBHK'S Picture perfect arc is about 13 Chapters, then We're looking at probably about a 2 or 3 hour long movie, which is pretty reasonable to say the least, plus knowing Aidairo's pacing, it Would probably only feel about 1 hour or maybe even less, judging by how When I read her Chapters, I feel like I've read about 13 to 17 chapters, when in reality I've read about 20 or 30 of them, So that's saying something ^^

Finally the message Behind the story: Tbh, imma leave that up to y'all, Because there's So many ways to interpret it, and tbh, I don't think my words could do it Justice. Maybe one day I'll return and endup editing this to Finally put my feelings into words but until then, I'll leave that in YOUR Hands,

In the end I think The Picture perfect arc is the Best arc, Not because it's the most heartwrenching, but because it focuses on the Main characters, most of the cast really consists of Hanako, yashiro, kou, mitsuba, alongside Natsuhiko, Sakura and Tsukasa, with the inclusion of No.4, being the Only new character, everyone else like Aoi, Akane and teru don't even appear and if they do, They're just replicas created by No.4, it's Literally a story all about the Main characters, or at least, the One's we started off with, in my opinion that sounds like the Perfect blueprint for a movie, So why not make it into one. Anyway those are Just my Feelings, but I really wanna know what you think? Do you think should be turned into a movie, or should just stay as part of season? Almost afraid to ask because I suspect there's lizard sex elements based on the posts, but what's threshold day?

the most simple answer to this is that threshold day is an annual star trek fandom celebration of the star trek voyager episode "threshold", the 15th episode of its second season which aired on the 29th of january, 1996!

but why threshold, specifically? a general answer is that it's because the episode is absolutely nuts. it's generally regarded as one of the worst, if not THE worst star trek episode ever (i definitely disagree with this, i think it's a genuinely good episode), but it also won an emmy............

a brief plot summary is that tom paris, voyager's pilot, wants to test a new form of warp drive technology which would enable ships to go at "warp 10" a speed previously thought to be impossible, which is so fast that travelling at it means you'd theoretically be everywhere in the universe at once. he ends up testing it, and initially everything seems fine, but then a few hours after the test he collapses in the mess hall and ends up in sickbay. the doctor determines that going at warp 10 has had an odd effect on paris's dna, causing it to rapidly mutate and "evolve".

throughout the episode, paris continues to mutate physically and mentally, becoming confused and violent and increasingly non-human looking. eventually he manages to bust out of sickbay and kidnaps the captain, taking her with him on another warp 10 flight. they then set down on a random planet.

it takes voyager a while to find them. by that point, both paris and the captain's dna mutations have caused them to transform into salamander-like creatures, almost completely unrecognisable as humans.

they also, at some point, had hyper evolved salamander sex and made salamander triplets.

the voyager crew takes paris and the captain back onto the ship, but leave their babies behind on the planet. a quick bit of (hand-wavy) genetic treatment by the doctor goes on, and paris and janeway are restored back to their original human selves. paris apologises to the captain for getting her knocked up while she was a salamander, and the captain responds by being like "ok but who says it's not the female that initiates mating in this species 😏". and that's the end of the fucking episode basically

i think threshold day is a thing in general bc the episode has some genuinely really cool elements and the practical effects are AWESOME, but also the last 10 minutes of it are absolutely nuts and easy to make fun of. it's like a perfect mixture of being good enough to be watchable but bad enough that you finish it like "what the hell just happened". it's also a popular day bc people generally view commander chakotay's decision to leave paris and janeway's salamander babies behind as a mistake, which i agree with. like what happened to them?? they're just there on that planet all alone???? did they even survive......... and if janeway and paris could be turned back into humans, technically the salamander babies are hypothetically human kids too and they just left them behind? SMH......... it's so sad............

LIFE COMES AT YOU FAST

The past couple of years have been such a whirlwind for Waterparks that the trio have barely had time to breathe. Beyond all the bluster and bravado, it's taken a private toll on Awsten Knight. On the eve of new album Entertainment, though, the frontman is ready to go again…

A few years ago, Awsten Knight dropped out of college to focus on his band, Waterparks. To gain the funds to do so, he spent his time teaching guitar and babysitting. Today, the Texas-based trio—completed by guitarist Geoff Wigington and drummer Otto Wood—are one of the most in-demand young bands on the planet. The name Waterparks first became synonymous with more than just being a fun place to hang out in your swimming trunks in 2016, with the release of their debut album, Double Dare. And the three-piece have only gotten bigger since. After forming in 2011, they picked up Good Charlotte's Benji and Joel Madden as managers (and Benji as a producer), toured the world with All Time Low, sold out Camden's Underworld (4,846 miles from their hometown) in under an hour, and recorded second album Entertainment, which is out next week.

There have been personal moments that made Awsten realise he and his band have 'made it', too, like when he was awarded Tweeter Of The Year in the Kerrang! Readers' Poll ("That's literally just all the dumb shit I said on Twitter," he says, baffled as to why anyone would care about his caps-lock musings). Then there was the time a Japanese fan flew to a U.S. show, and turned up to meet Awsten looking exactly like Awsten…

"He was dressed just like me!" the singer says in more disbelief. "He dyed his hair blue and he had my necklace [the rainbow foot one]. He was straight-up me! And I was like, 'Oh my God, some guy in fucking Japan, who doesn't even know my language, likes my shit that much that he's dressed up like me… that's fucking awesome.'"

Ask Awsten to reflect on his band's success, to properly look back and take it all in, and he'll get uncomfortable.

"I don't really look back at stuff as much as I should…" he admits. "I feel like if I stop to think about any of that too hard, it would freak me out. So I think the best thing, at least for now, is to keep my head down and keep working as fast as I can and as hard as I can to keep it going."

And how do you feel when you're forced to reflect?

Before replying, he thinks for a second and exhales, making his lips vibrate.

"It kinda doesn't feel like it happened…When we got back from Japan I was just tired and laying there, and a week later I talked about it in an interview, and they were like, 'You just got back from Japan with All Time Low,' and I was like, 'Oh yeah! We did do that, huh?'" It doesn't feel…"—he thumbs through the pages of his brain dictionary, looking for the right words—"…it doesn't feel real."

The only time Awsten really nods to his achievements is within the blue walls of his childhood bedroom, where he's rested his head for the past 20 years, and is currently doing so while the band take their first proper break in two years. In between shelves crammed with DVDs, books ("because reading's tight") and his bed there's a nightstand. On the top sit a pack of Twizzlers and a pot of vitamins, and in the cubby hole below rests a stack of six or seven magazines, all of which have Awsten's face on the cover. He'll only take them out to properly look at when new ones arrive in the mail- there have been two this week - but he likes having them there, when he's in the room. "Being able to see those things is small," he says. "But it's enough to be like, 'Okay, cool.'"

Awsten's aware that few bands take off like Waterparks have. It's a fact people remind him about often, including his friends and mentors Benji and Joel.

"They tell us, 'Your band is extremely special,' and I'll be like, 'Thank you so much!' I'm thankful to hear it…'"

The Maddens' elder brother Josh, meanwhile, has taught the frontman that it's important to take time for yourself in order to survive in any successful band. "Josh told me, There's Waterparks Awsten and there's Awsten Awsten. They're both the same guy, but you need to make sure both of them have the same love and care. It's tough to do…"

He lets out a brief laugh at what he's about to say. It's something he often does.

"Girls have accused me of being a workaholic before. It's still hard for me to answer when people ask, 'What do you do when you're not doing music?' I don't have that much to say…Which isn't a good sign of progress on that front, because it's what I'm doing all the time. If it's not for Waterparks, I'm working on music for somebody." He has, though, taken steps to care for poor neglected Awsten Awsten while he's been off tour. He's learned the importance of getting the recommended eight hours sleep and not staying up all night working on band stuff. He's started going to therapy. And he's training at a small boxing gym in downtown Houston.

"It's definitely a dumb-guy chemical thing, but Otto and I will go through phases where we're like, 'I just wanna fucking fight someone!' Pretty much the entire last tour I was in that mode. I thought, 'I better actually prepare and be good at this shit if it does happen!'" Now, one of the goals on his bucket list for 2018 is to win a boxing match.

Such drive means the frontman's never struggled to keep his eyes on the prize when it comes to Waterparks. As soon as our morning chat ends, Awsten says he'll start working on more music.

His self-assuredness and stronger-than-graphene vision for the band mean he's never had to fight to stay true to himself, either. He's more likely to walk into the record label and tell them what's what.

"Dude, honestly, I'm so fucking good at marketing!" he says, not-at-all modestly. "I've got a vision for us, and I know what we are. I'm aware what works and what doesn't. I'm a control freak, which I guess is a thing I should work on, but it's definitely kept things very true to who we are."

New album Entertainment is saturated with that same confidence, and the frontman says he feels no pressure whatsoever putting it out.

"When it was getting made, nobody knew [since it was done in secret], so they couldn't get hyped or anything. Now, if anybody wants to have expectations, it's already done. There's nothing I can do."

Doesn't a little part of you worry about whether people will like it?

"Not really," he says, shrugging his shoulders, "because I know it's good. Not to be cocky about it…I just think it's a very good album. There were songs I thought would make the record that didn't, which means everything on there is the best of the best."

The most confident man in rock does have one Kryptonite, though: his feelings. That became apparent three weeks before the release of Entertainment, when Awsten tweeted a picture of two pages from a spiral-bound notebook. On those pages was a handwritten letter, in his trademark caps, explaining that he'd gone off Waterparks' second record. The words were fairly cryptic, stating, "the last couple months have [been] weird, difficult, and everything else that sits in the realm of 'bad'. I lost a lot mentally and physically. Certain things happened and to be overly honest with you, Entertainment was ruined for me. I stopped listening to it, and felt weird to hype it in interviews. However, the worst part was the pure dread I felt thinking, 'Fuck. I still have to tour on this and sing these words every night.'"

Yet fans knew the note related to Awsten's break-up with his TV actress girlfriend, Ciara Hanna, the subject of much of the album's lyrics.

"I was glorifying people and things that I really don't fucking like and that really sucked," he says.

How did you feel about the future when those songs were ruined for you?

"Very fucking bleak!" he says. "I was like, 'Fuck, I'm ready to make another album, let's do that instead!'"

Would you have scrapped Entertainment if that was an option?

"There was a time that I would have said yes. But it's a piece of fucking art, and it would be a shame to let certain people or things ruin that."

In order to feel excited about the album again, Awsten had to change the meanings of the songs in his mind.

"My love songs are not about anyone now," he says. "They're just about love. And the dark places I was put in because of certain people or events? Those are stories. Every album is going to be a snapshot of where I was at that time."

Which explains why he thanks Ciara "for filling me with too many feelings" in the CD's thank you notes.

Quiz Awsten about which songs on the album are the most personal to him, and he'll say "the ones that make me go, 'Agh fuck!'" are Lucky People, Rare, TANTRUM, Crybaby and We Need To Talk.

"I try to keep my shit together around other people," he says when asked if there were any breakdowns in the vocal booth, "but the day Crybaby was made, that was one of the worst days of my life…" What was happening that day?

"I don't wanna talk about that, if that's okay," Awsten says meekly. "I feel like I give a lot to people, and some of the stuff that is written about on this album, I haven't told anybody about, 'cause it's just very… low, dark, personal shit. There are certain things that people don't need to know."

One song he is comfortable delving deeper into is diss track TANTRUM. An album highlight, it sees Awsten rant his frustrations away.

"TANTRUM's blunt as fuck!" he offers. "A lot of the stuff's metaphorical, but that one's like, This married guy tried to fuck my girlfriend and I'm gonna kill him when I see him!' I was like, 'I'll put his name in it, fuck it! I don't care."

We point out that when the guy in the song hears it, Awsten might just get that boxing match he's after…

"I just might, but I'm prepared," he says seriously.

As we wrap up our interview, Awsten's pouring his second coffee of the day, ready to resume being a workaholic. We ask how he's feeling after what's been a frankly terrible couple of months, and at the start of what's set to be the year of his career.

"I mean…" he pauses. "If someone has empathy and is able to feel certain things, like a functioning emotional brain- or in my case, maybe it's more emotional than it should be, I don't know yet—everyone is a work in progress."

He lets out a particularly-Texan "GOD DAMN!" and laughs at how corny he sounds.

"But everybody is literally just doing their best. Everyone is working on it. I'm working on it…"

Last night I talked to Benji, and he said, 'Dude, everything that Joel and I did, see in you.' And I was just like, 'Fuuuuuuck!

"They're more like friends than mentors to me now. Half the shit we talk about is not even band related. We talk about life, how to be different and things I want to be involved in…I want to accomplish a lot. Some of it is musical and some isn't, but I want them to be my team for all of it."

yo yo yo, quick update. um, i saw -- i saw a reddit post which is why i'm doing this actually, someone said, "why does dream keep doing this?" um, so i just wanna explain something and then, hopefully, uh -- have some understanding, but also just some... clarity.

um, so i've been working on a massive project for over a year now, at this point, um, and i've shared some of it, i did a short where i used some of the technology, i guess -- essentially, in january, but i've been working on it for far longer than that. um, it's something that i'm extremely passionate about and as time has kinda gone on i've been spending more and more time on it.

um, and literally when i say in the last few months i have not left my house, i mean i have not left my house. i mean, i've been doing nothing other but work. i've spent so much time coding everyday, i've spent time learning new things, i've spent a lot of time testing, and -- and coming up with new ideas, and you know. tons of new stuff, obviously it doesnt really mean anything if you don't actually put anything out, i havent put anything out for a very long time, but i will say the reason i've done that is because i want to start uploading when i can upload a bunch, um, and i want it to be awesome obviously, but i also want to be able to just be like, "hey, i'm uploading, and i'm also uploading once every week, or once every two weeks, or once-- twice a month, whatever."

and i don't just mean videos, i also mean shorts, and making content as frequent as i can. Because i want it to be like, "hey, i'm coming back, and i'm going to be like, active now." u, so, if you believe that's the case, and i'm not just making excuses, you should understand that it is just getting to that point. i'm a bit of a perfectionist and it'll never be perfect, so i've-- i've set a lot of deadlines to myself, and then also to other people.

and then what happens is we find something -- there's something, i go to go record, or we go to do something, and then it's just something that we had never gotten to that point before, so we didn't see that issue, or didn't see that thing that was happening in that moment.

so like, as an example, we literally got together we're recording the first video using -- uh, the full complete everything with this. i don't know, a while ago. we're like, "sweet", went to go record, and then discovered something because we had never actually recorded with it, we'd only done like, tests and so and so forth.

we discovered something! and i was like, "oh shit," and that became a whole thing that took forever to, you know, that changed a bunch of stuff and took forever to go around. and then like, while we were doing stuff on that, it was like, now we're working on -- we're working on other things while we have this time, and any downtime i have, i'm gonna spend it on this thing.

um. and then while i was -- the most recent delay on some stuff was, while i was in one of those downtimes, where i was waiting on people or i was working on fixing an issue, um, i found something cool! where i was like, "oh shit," i should explore this. explored it, and then the other issue's fixed, and then it's like, "well, let me finish this thing, because, this thing's actually -- it's gonna add to it in this way, or um, uh, whatever.

so essentially, there's been a lot of additive stuff, but there's also been a lot of planning and of course it doesn't help that. um, some stuff happened, in the middle of it, which did occupy a lot of time and energy and stuff. and also, i -- i don't -- i don't like throwing this in here, because it is more personal, and you know -- it -- it's not, i don't like including this in an excuse for --

[laughing] okay never mind i changed my mind on that last part! so i just paused the mic, and i decided, whatever you can just have that -- that left out. um, but yeah anyway! some stuff will come soon, it'll be awesome, i'm sick of kinda hyping stuff up. but it has been -- there's been multiple times where i'm like, "okay, i'm uploading this weekend," because it's done, it's ready to go, and then we go to record -- we hit a new, after we passed that previous point, where i'm like, "okay, i'm confident we're getting something out." um, i'll tweet about it or do something because i'm excited. because i'm just like, "oh my god, this is awesome! finally! holy shit! we can go!" so i'll tweet about it, and then i'll look like an idiot, because we -- we'll just -- jsut pass that point, there's another roadblock.

So -- so yeah. i guess there's -- my little rant's over, that's the best update i can give, all i can say is that, and i'll also say that i-- it's kinda cool for you guys to see stuff grow with me, and change, and see uh, the content evolve -- [squeaking noise] -- that was my chair, that was. Um, [laughs].

so, it's not like uh -- a lot of people will say like "oh, just -- you can just post anything we don't care!" but it's like, -- yeah, but it's like i love this. i love this. and i don't mean this, i just mean, like -- making content. i love it. i love it. it is my favourite thing in the world to sit down, come up with an idea, do everything in my power to execute it, and then put it out there and see people's reactions. or see how people -- how it affects them, or just see how it changes their day, or makes them smile, or whatever.

it's just creating, just like making things. um, so at the end of the day, a lot of people -- "oh, you can just go play minecraft"-- no! i don't wanna just play minecraft, i don't wanna do that, okay? i've never done that. i've never done that. like, even with manhunt, and -- which just seems so simple -- "oh, you just sat down and played minecraft and had your friends try to stop you". yeah! but, every video, i was looking into editing techniques, and new ways of using music, and new ways of making music, and [sighs]. new -- of -- evolutions of minecraft, and new bugs and glitches, and new-- how to practice, and -- i was evolving as a player

so there was a lot of things i was spending my time on, that was part of the creative process, and i feel like i maxxed out on a lot of those things. that - -that's not -- that exact thing is not fun for me. so what is fun for me is creating new things, and uh - -you know, evolving... the space, and -- anyway.

so i spent a lot of time on it, and as soon as possible i'll have something out. i've been in -- literally since january i've been in this state of, uh, "hey, this weekend we're gonna put something out." and it's just every week there's something.

eventually there'll be nothing. and when that happens, it'll be awesome. and when i say, "this is so-- whatever, this is so awesome," it's like -- i'm not hyping it up in a way where it's like, "guys, you'll see just one video, and you'll be like, 'holy shit! my life is changed!'" No. that's not what i mean, it's just really cool, and something that i wanna spend the next year... or more doing -- of course other stuff, but also, a lot of stuff with these things that i've done. over the last year.

so, that's why i'm excited. i'm really excited to start uploading, but i'm also excited to share this stuff with you. um, and i'm also just really excited to have something that i'm passionate about, something i'm happy about, that i can be proud of. um, and that i -- that i can, you know, that's unique and that i can make content on. because manhunt, that's unique, and i found a unique thing that i came up with, and i, you know, i did a lot of stuff with it.

and that's what i love. it's just -- making new things, um, and then having fun with them. and that's it.

but yeah! i think it's valid, and thats why i've kinda shut up recently [laughs] the last two make me look like an idiot, because i was like, "yes! we're recording! we're fucking doing it! alright i'm tweeting because i'm excited!" and then it kinda backfired. because there was just like, literally we had something that shipped in that day, and then it just didn't work. and i was like, "oh wait, okay, we need a new... item." and so, it's, custom-made and stuff so it took a bit.

that's fixed. so, um, we're working on other stuff. but yeah, there you go, there's some more excuses so you can put that in your excuse list for a bit. but yeah, i'll be uploading soon. peace!
