e1610 miles had been your boyfriend for a while, and today was his special day. you contemplated for a while what your gift would be for him. he was the best you've ever had. of course he deserved the best gift ever. sooner or later, the answer was given to you.

—you politely knocked on the door of the morales household with a box wrapped in wrapping paper and tied with a bow. specifically black and red, cause y'know. rio opened the door and a smile lit up on her face. not like the sarcastic one she had when she first met you.

"hi, hun. you here for miles?"

as you stepped in, the room smelled of vanilla and ink? weird combo, yeah? "mhm, just wanted to swing by and say a quick 'happy birthday' to him."

"oh, that's sweet. he's in his room. ¿quieres un cupcake?" "oh! n-no, gracias."

considering how often you visited miles, you tended to pick up some spanish from his mom, which she gladly taught you. rio treated you like you were a close friend, which made miles happy to say the least. "i see your spanish has improved."

"yeah, thanks ms. morales." "of course! you're special person in my son's life, i owe it to you."

♡ well, you thought that was a little too high of a praise. it felt like the morales' were givers. like if someone were to do something for them which they said was small or no big deal, they would take it to an extent. it's something you would think about time to time. nonetheless, they were grateful of how trusting you were.

you pushed the cracked door of miles' room and found him where he always was—at his desk drawing in his sketchbook with his headphones on, humming along. you wonder how hard you fell for him when you first met.

you tapped his shoulder lightly, disturbing his quote on quote singing, he smiled brightly when he saw you. "hey, love."

he engulfed you into a big hug. his shirt was cozy and he smelled sweet. "baby! you came!"

"of course i did! how could i miss your birthday?" "you missed valentines day-" "hush."

miles clearly eyed the box as you asked him how he was doing. he gave short answers and sometimes ask you to repeat what you said. you sighed with a playful smile, "you wanna know what's in the present, don't you?"

"yes pleaseee."

you two sat on his bed and miles gently untied the bow and ripped the wrapping paper. the look on his face once he saw what was inside was nothing short of surprise. you smiled as he looked over to you with a shocked face. "you're serious?"

"uh huh. happy birthday, spidey."

♡ you went down to the record store and bought roughly around half a hundred worth of albums. of course knowing miles loves music basically to death, you knew all of his favorite artists. tyler the creator, brent faiyaz, pinkpantheress, bryson tiller, sza, to name a few. you had to get him albums for his record player.

miles sighed and changed his tone into somewhat more whiney as he put his head on you lap. "noo, don't do this to me, amor. i can't accept these."

"too bad, accept them." "but i don't even use my record player anymore! i know you are not out here buying me $20 albums on vinyl, ma." "it's fine, i'll make back the money. and let's put that record player to good use, yeah?" "... god, i love you and your persistence. makes you hotter in my opinion." Y'all, Episode 6 may be my favorite episode, so far at least

holy shit, so much happened in this episode and I loved it so much! This is gonna be a long rant, so just warning ya!

The gang helping Thad study was such a nice part of the episode, I’m hoping Thad passes his exams and gets to be a doctor! Also, Lena teasing Ash about him talking like Denny’s and how they’ve been spending a lot of time together was really cute and funny. Can’t wait for their party night next episode!

The little conversation with Ash and Denny’s in the car was another one of their moments together that I just love seeing. Also, I’m wondering what the context was for Denny’s almost going into work with part of Ash’s uniform lol. And we got more from Brady which I loved to see! He’s one of my favorite side characters, and when Brady brought up that Denny’s is “always talking about” Ash, it’s like when you introduce a friend to your parents or siblings and they just flat out tell them you have a crush on them (Brady gives major older brother vibes) and I can just imagine Denny’s saying “Brady!” In the same whisper yell that Ash did to Lena lol

That phone call with the director lady was difficult to listen to. I was so happy that Ash got the part, but with everything happening? Who knows how that’s gonna work out! And Ash’s voice cracking while he was talking to Denny’s made me wanna cry 😢 Brady coming in with the big bro energy, asking if things are ok and him trusting Denny’s when she says that things are ‘fine’ was really sweet

Brady checking in again, love it. Poor Lin, girl was trying to sleep lol. Also, I like that she warned Denny’s that Lexi was there already because I can’t imagine what would happen if she just went up to the door and heard her in Ash’s room. I agree, she’s getting better but she does have some of her tactics that she’s still using, so I’m not completely over my hate for her, it’s getting there but not quite. Also:

Alexis: I deserve him, don’t I? Don’t I?

Sophie: you may think that, but he didn’t deserve what you did to him, neither did Thad.

5. Now we get to talk to him. Honestly, hearing some more of his pov of the relationship really put into perspective how bad it actually was. Like, Ash, babe, never telling your partner ‘no’ to something cannot end well for either person. Also, I like that we constantly are being his ‘therapist’ cuz honestly, he needs to talk about that emotion baggage he’s been dealing with.

6. the pancakes!! I loved this little callback to the first episode, I knew the moment Denny’s asked Brady to make something before she left to see Ash, that was what it was going to be! Also, the little play fight over both of them eating the food was really cute and funny!

7. THE CONFESSION! THE KISS!!! IT FINALLY HAPPENED AND I LOVED ALL OF IT! Him liking Denny’s since the beginning was so sweet, and all from a little gesture of Denny’s being nice, just because she wanted to! (Also, did they actually, do something or was it just kissing, cuz it sounded like there was a fade out but it could just be me hearing it weird) Them cuddling and watching the sunrise was so cute! I keep re listening to that part! Also, the phone call between Ash and Thad was adorable, just them giggling like a couple schoolgirls about a crush. In my mind, Sophie was just going “you guys are such dorks”

And, you already know I have more art for this!

This may be my favorite outfit and shirt design I’ve made so far, I loved this so much

But yeah, that’s all! Sorry this was a pretty long post and I was ranting for quite a bit, but I just love this series and these characters so much! The big art post is in the works, it’s getting there (slowly lol) but it’ll be worth it!

Chapter 5 & epilogue of "Even If There Are Monsters" Director's Commentary

Now onto the last chapter!

“Monsieurs,” I said firmly. “I would like to think that I am just as much of a friend to Enjolras as you all were to him. As such, I believe that I deserve to help solve this mystery too, and help him rest in peace. Do not keep me from any secrets; tell me all that you know.”

One of the big reasons why Cosette feels so similar to Mina for me is bc of how often they were left out of their respective narratives. Cosette is never told anything from Valjean and Marius and Mina isn't told anything from Jonathan and co. either. (Un)fortunately when tragedy strikes in Dracula, Mina gets the full story, but Les Mis ends without Cosette's narrative being truly resolved 😢 Hope this part makes their connection even more obvious, and allows Cosette for a little more agency to demand a space in the narrative.

“That is good,” he repeated. “Cosette, love…I do not want you to get hurt.”

“Nothing will hurt me.”

“I do not want you to get hurt, but I do not like lying to you, either.” Marius looked devastated now.

And Marius, similar to Jonathan, didn't even think about keeping secrets from Cosette in the first place, though he does so more readily than Jonathan. In this fic, I gave him a mix of both feelings: torn between protecting Cosette and not wanting to lie to her either

“You must rest more yourself, Marius,” I said as a response, slightly alarmed by how much he had changed.

“I am,” he insisted. “You need not fret over me; I am more sane than I look.”

He did not seem to want to talk about his own being any longer, and seemed impatient when I tried to push.

There aren't a lot of emo/goth!Marius moments and for that I apologise; still, I loved writing the moments where we get Marius all grumpy and this 👌 close to snapping.

“Cosette, Cosette!” I cried, attempting to console her but she simply held me away at arms length, shaking her head and continuing to wail.

Rereading this made me realise how much I'm torturing poor Combeferre. First he gets rejected by his childhood friend and crush pre-fic, and then said friend dies TWICE in agony, and then another close friend is starting to become a vampire, and by the end of the fic, ANOTHER friend gets killed. Being Dracula AU!Combeferre sucks....

Cosette’s revelation stunned the men into silence, but I had known of my wife’s wonderful mind all along. I gathered her in my arms and kissed her cheek tenderly, unable to stop my smile from shining through.

Once again, it was hellish trying to figure out the timeline myself. And ngl, I feel like my compression of the timeline makes it incredibly easy to figure the whole plot out so the Amis are a lil inattentive in this fic tho tbf, they're also grieving the loss of Enjolras. It would still take sharp eyes and a good memory to piece them all together though, which Cosette/Mina manages to do wonderfully 🥰

If I'm not wrong, I also brought this conversation forward from a later moment, and squeezed it all in this scene. Mostly to save time bc GOD i am not (re)writing all the nitty gritty details of setting out for Transylvania. They are all well and good for the OG novel but you guys came here for angst!! And so angst I shall fast forward to. Still, I wanted to include this convo in the fic for basic plot reasons + another Smart Cosette moment 😌

“I understand,” Cosette replied at once. A look of curiosity now came over her. “Though- do you think this spell works conversely too?”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, he may occupy my thoughts, but who is to say I cannot occupy his? To hear of his plans; do you think that is possible, M. Prouvaire?”

Courfeyrac has confided that he has written a similar will, and I am sure most of the men have done the same. I cannot bear to lose any more of my brothers…but if we must die, I cannot say that I would prefer to die any other way: to be surrounded by those that I love, and whom I know loves me too.

This is the last we hear of Combeferre!! And he ends off reflecting about his friends 🥺 Hope he gets a good, peaceful life from here on out because God does he deserve it.

“You will have my word that you shall not have to deal a single blow upon Madame Cosette. I do not make such promises easily, especially those that I know I must keep, and so you can trust me in this: I will not allow her to die. I will not allow you to die. Whatever it is Enjolras and I have suffered, I shall see that you both need not face it as well.”

Literally the most obvious way one can say that they don't intend to make it out of the fight alive, but alas Marius doesn't really pick up on that. And even if he did, Grantaire would have still found a way to die and be with Enjolras, anyways.

“Only allow me this,” he interrupted. “I know that your thirst for vengeance is great: for you were the first to be tortured by that monster, and that your wife has too been tortured. You deserve the killing strike, no doubt. Only- will you allow me to deal a blow too, together with you? For Enjolras’ sake.”

I was happy I was about to make this a plot-significant thing. I haven't really understood why Quincey was the one to get a hit on Dracula and die by the end of the OG novel (maybe someone can tell me their own theories/analysis?) but for my fic, Grantaire getting a hit and dying to join Enjolras makes much more obvious sense for his character

And to lift my spirits, he quietly sang a song. I had not known that I quite missed his music and his playing, ever since those first few days in Cette where he had performed and we had all sang along…I did not sleep, but my heart certainly felt much lighter. I am comforted by the knowledge that the men around me are good and brave, even in the darkest of times.

One last Enjolras/Grantaire and Marius/Cosette parallel! exR takes on the tragic Gothic ending for themselves, and Marisette is gifted the chance to live on and experience the future 🥺. Kinda like their canon counterparts!

Cosette firmly believes that our boy contains parts of Grantaire and Enjolras both. His bundle of names link all our little band of men together, but we call him René.

God help Marius and Cosette to raise a child with both of exR's qualities. Also, baby Quincey's name in OG Dracula is already clowned on in the fandom by having all the men's names, who knows how long baby René's full name is when it's made up of ALL the Amis's names??

You and rainy seasons never got along. They were loud and monstrous always scaring you to death. You could handle the rain and lightning part, but the thunder was where it took a sharp turn to hell. You knew you should call Yuta over to stay the night but he had a dinner party to go to. They were celebrating his close colleague and friend Jaehyun's promotion and you didn't have it in you to ruin it.

You had met Yuta during a collaboration project between your companies. You both were the project heads, which meant plenty of time together. You hit it off pretty well and it made working together easy. You both were smart and cooperative, appreciating the other's plus points and using them to your advantage. The project had turned out to be one of the most successful ones. Your companies even held a celebration party together. The same party in which Yuta had asked you out. It had almost been a year since then.

Yuta knew of your Astraphobia and had called you before he went to the dinner, asking if you would be able to handle yourself or needed him to come over. You told him you could. Which is exactly what lead you here. Laying on your bed, music playing on the highest volume in your headphones to drown out the booming of the thunders. You had tried to distract yourself by watching a movie, but that hadn't quite worked out. It never did. Every little thing in those shitty rom-com movies seemed scary.

You finally get up from your bed and head for the kitchen, unable to ignore the parching in your throat anymore. Jumping on the particularly loud boom through your headphones, you stumble down the last few stairs. And that was more than enough to break the dam inside you. Telling yourself it wasn't as terrifying as your mind was making it up to be didn't seem to work out. Tears start to stain your cheeks once more as you slide down against the wall, pulling your knees close to your chest. You'd always handled yourself during these times, but today seemed to get worse, it left you feeling cold and empty. Crying only increased your parchedness and you somehow will yourself to get up and walk to the kitchen.

Yuta was genuinely was happy for Jaehyun. If there was someone who actually deserved to be the head of the finance department, it was him. But he couldn't curb the dread in his stomach even as they cheered him on, clinking their glasses together. So he bailed midway, telling them he felt sick. It was easy to believe because Yuta had gone pale from thinking so much, every thought drifting to you, wondering if you were doing okay. He wasn't even able to keep up with the conversation his friends were having.

You'd assured him you could handle it, but he'd been a witness to your breakdown once. He didn't want to leave you alone if you were gonna be like that again. Although he knew he couldn't make it all go away, he at least wanted to be there for you. Maybe he would end up being useless, but he wanted to try. For you.

The apartment was all lit up, every lightbulb glowing and potentially blinding his eyes as he opened the door and stepped in. He called out your name, looking around the kitchen and treading up the stairs when you didn't respond. It was dead silent. A gasp left his lips when he opened the bedroom door. You were sitting on the floor in the corner of the room, shivering with knees to your chest. The music in your headphones so loud, he could hear it all the way across. He shrugged his coat off somewhere, rushing to your side as he picked up the black woollen throw.

You flinch when you feel something on your back, looking up to see it's just Yuta crouching in front of you, trying to wrap you up. It's only then that you realise you are cold. Instant relief runs through your whole body at the sight. So you do the only rational thing your brain tells you to. Fling yourself in his arms.

"Hey, honey." Yuta sighs in your ear as your headphones fall. You purr against his neck. Closing your eyes again and hiding your face in his chest when you notice a streak of lightning flash that's quickly followed by a bolt of thunder.

You don't remember when Yuta picked you up and made you comfortable on the bed. Hours of loud music and thunder that had left behind a dull ache in your ears and cuddling Yuta was definitely better than everything you'd tried before. The silence was comfortable, save for the occasional thundering. Not once had Yuta gotten up. He kept stroking your back and soothing you, throwing in occasional words of comfort like it was his life that depended on it, not yours. And every time words fell out of his mouth, all you could do was nod and wrap your arms around him a little tighter.

You wondered how he could end up with you among all the seven billion people on the earth. Every time you thought he couldn't be any more perfect for you, he managed to do something to prove you wrong. And it was something as simple as straightening your shoes at the door every time he walked in after you. Or tucking your hair while you were busy eating. Keeping you warm on a cold night. You didn't think it was possible to keep up with all the things this man did for you.

"Babe?" You catch him mumbling, his hands still against your back, stroking lightly. The thundering was almost gone now, leaving behind a drizzle.

"Yeah?"

"You do know that I love you right?"

"Of course I know. I love you too." You peck his lips as he holds you close.

"Then why do you push me away?" He sits up, a light frown taking over his face.

"I wasn't pushing you away, Yuta." You cup his cheeks, looking into his eyes. "I just wanted you to enjoy your dinner." Your excuse seems too lame, even to yourself.

"But dinners can be postponed, baby. And I love taking care of you. Being there for you. Knowing that you trust me enough to not hide from me. Letting me comfort you. Like you do when I'm stressed or scared."

You open your mouth to reply, but he's pulling you in a kiss before you can say anything. Your arms wrap around his neck like its muscle memory. He's dominating the kiss, coercing your lips apart and sliding his tongue through. Yuta hopes you understand what he's getting at. And you do. You'd never want to attend a dinner party knowing there was even a slight possibility that he was sitting at home, scared, and you weren't there for him.

"I don't want you to lie about being fine. Okay? Never. I want you to tell me when you need someone by your side. You don't need to be embarrassed about something you can't control, love." He cups your cheek again, resting his forehead against yours, regaining his breath.

"I'm sorry. It won't happen again, I promise. Forgive me?" You say as you pull him in a kiss this time, conveying your regrets. It doesn't even take him a second to give in, smiling against your lips. He could never be mad at you for too long anyway. You feel his hands sliding on your back. He reaches for your ass, grabbing and squeezing it.

"Yuta." You moan in his mouth. You rub your clothed crotch against him and push against his shoulders. He slides down on the bed, positioning you comfortably against him. You increase your speed, feeling your panties grow wetter as his hand slaps against your ass. It was getting quite hot in the room until you heard both of your stomachs growling. You pull apart, looking at each other in silence before bursting into a fit of laughter.

"Yakisoba?" Yuta questions, getting up with you still wrapped around him, kissing you once more.

"Only if you promise to finish this after." You smirk.

He gropes your ass, pointing towards his semi-hard cock. "You're dreaming if you think you're getting out of this."

still is the proudest fic i've ever written. very studio ghibli (according to @/jeongwins) and also very movie-like. @/orochxi melodramas got me in the feels to write this but this is more wholesome that viv's memento mori-coded fics lmao... fun fact: this is almost a nct chenle fic inspired by parasite (2019) hence the fish-out-of-water scenario

troubled pixies, a txt taehyun one-shot two-shot

definitely my favorite character-building-wise. the fact that i have to figure out not only mc + taehyun but also the sisters, their partners, and the sisters' parents' characteristics here is so complicated yet fun, especially how intricate it is. also currently my longest one-shot i've written (52k) that tumblr hates it so much, it has to be divided into two :") (also, this is one of @/boba-beom's fav fics. i've successfully infected her with 80s/90s songs hehehe) + istg mc here is a definite lux lisbon if she live in 90s instead of the 70s, complete with the chainsmoking and her taste in 90s alt songs

i am still proud of this even though it is my least favorite!!!! why, you ask? because this is the first building block of my blog as a whole which is then continue with time wave's chapters as i honed my writing skill. it is the shortest one-shot currently (at 9k though which is still considered long-fic) but you could definitely sense my style even with that. and i don't wanna change it any other way... :]

the more time this fic is available on my blog, i have accumulated a few thoughts: (1) enhablr peeps are horny and like smut more than any other creative writing genre; (2) enhablr peeps don't read sunoo fics like they read heeseung/sunghoon/jungwon/niki's; and (3) enhablr peeps don't like anything except for romance. and that is sad to me because there are so many writers who write any topic other than romance or smut that is as great. so, if you want something different or if you like horror, do consider reading this one :D

Everyone needs to stop trying to push kids on Barbara and Pat and see Chuck! Half the time Pat forgets about Mike and until that is fixed he doesn’t need more kids. Chuck was a dad and JSA member. I want to stay and he’d be really cool father figure to the JSA kids without parents.

I was afraid as well!! Although not that much, since Naoaki is someone who can detect when there's something going on, you know? As well as being aware enough that his background is something that not many will process easily, so in between his sad story, her sudden "sickness" and Mariya's duties, he understood that maybe it was best to let her rest a bit.

That doesn't mean he wasn't sad about it lol but he tried his best to be as understanding as possible.

Y/N on the other hand was freaking out, and within reason. She's so... hurt by the fact that she was abandoned by everyone (her family, her staff, and the friends she's somewhat managed to make inside the estate) it's like her mind is always working against her and that hurts me 😭 But it's all good now :3 they just needed to talk about it. In a way, there really was no reason for them to stop being friends (at least for me) BECAUSE LETS BE REAL Naoaki is deserving of second chances (although he did nothing wrong) unlike ummm idk this bastard Naoya.

And yes!! Props to Y/N 😤 it was a way to show her that she's starting to understand her surroundings a bit more (although she doesn't seem to like Mariya that much hahahaha but we'll deal with that later :3) and I'm glad that the servants (or some of them) took a notice of it. Guess we shall see what happens next chapter 🫢
