You and Quinn have been dating for 10 months now. This means you are officially invited to the Hughes’ lake house over the summer. 2 months of just soaking up the sun and spending unlimited time with Quinn, his family, and your numerous friends. Finally, getting Quinn’s almost undivided attention since the season is now over and he can relax before training starts.
Your relationship with Quinn has progressed rapidly. Being together for almost a year will do that, you are now looking at moving in with Quinn once your lease is over in August. You have already started moving some of your things to his apartment since you spend so much time there. His family has welcomed you with open arms, especially after seeing how well you handle Quinn, even when he’s cranky. You also were very good at wrangling all of the boys when they got too rowdy or if it was dinner time.
Like now, you are attempting to get all of the boys off the boat and up to the house to help you set the table. Quinn and you have been in the kitchen for a good chunk of the afternoon prepping a huge meal for everyone. After finally getting the boys to calm down a little and get ready for dinner you walk back inside to check on Quinn. As you are rounding the corner you hear Quinn’s hushed voice along with Ellen’s. You halt in your tracks, not trying to eavesdrop but also not wanting to interrupt the moment. What you hear though makes all of the blood rush to your cheeks.
“Mom, I’m going to marry her and she’s going to make a great Mom one day,” you hear Quinn whisper. Your heart flutters, you knew that the relationship was serious and while you had known Quinn was it for you, neither of you had fully voiced your opinions about marriage and kids just yet. You could hear Ellen clap her hands together before replying, “Oh, Quinn! That makes me so happy to hear. Do you need any help from me? Have you bought a ring? When are you going to ask? Does she-”
Quinn cuts off his mom’s rambling with a quiet chuckle, “Slow down, Mom, I have a ring in mind and I’m not thinking of asking until Halloween time, that is her favorite holiday after all,” you can hear Quinn walking around the kitchen and realize you need to make yourself known before you are caught. You quickly open and shut the sliding door louder than before and walk into the kitchen. After walking in you notice that Quinn’s cheeks are slightly pink and Ellen is wearing a dopey smile on her face as she looks at you.
You walk up to Quinn, grabbing his hand, before looking up at him, “Everything going okay in here, handsome? Do you need me to do anything else for you?” You round out your eyes to appear as innocent as possible, Quinn clears his throat before replying, “Uh- No, angel. The food is almost done, if you and Mom want to grab some of the salads and bring them outside that would be great. I will meet you out there with the main stuff in just a few minutes,” You nod your head at Quinn, reaching up to place a kiss on his cheek before turning to grab the salads and take them outside.
You and Ellen head out to set everything on the table. The boys profusely thanked you both as they were absolutely famished after drinking and being on the boat all day. Quinn came out shortly after with the main dish and everyone quickly dug in. You sat quietly next to Quinn with a hand on his thigh while you ate. Listening to all of the boys tell stories from previous summers that had your stomach hurting from laughing so hard.
After dinner, the boys were quick to grab all of the plates, Jack walking over and placing a kiss on the top of your head, telling you they would handle all of the clean up since you did so much for the meal. Jack and Luke had been especially sweet on you after finding out you were dating Quinn. The three of you just clicked and Quinn couldn’t be happier that you got along so well with his brothers.
Once the table was cleaned up the boys decided to head back out on the boat with Ellen and Jim. You had told Quinn you were going to read and relax in your room and he decided to stay with you. You knew he was going to do this, and this meant you would have the whole house to yourselves for at least two hours. After hearing Quinn talk about marriage and kids earlier it had you riled up, you had to do something about it.
Quinn held your hand as you both walked up to your shared room. Quinn walked in first and you shut and locked the door behind you before leaning your back on it. Quinn gave you a confused look as you hadn’t walked further into the room. You looked at him through slightly hooded eyes before speaking up, “I overheard what you were saying to your mom in the kitchen, handsome. That you want to make me your wife, to let me have your babies…” You trailed off while biting your lip.
Quinn wore a slightly shocked expression before it was quickly overtaken by lust. You could see his eyes darken before he walked over to you. His hands settled on your hips while he came close enough that your noses brushed, “D’you like the idea of that, Angel? You want me to make you the next Mrs. Hughes? Fuck you full of my babies? Oh, of course you do, just look at the way you’re clenching your pretty thighs for me,” Quinn clicked his tongue at you before capturing your lips in a bruising kiss.
Your eyes fluttered shut as you lost yourself in the feel of him. He moved closer to push you harder into the door, hips flush as he moaned into your mouth. He pulled away only to whisper a single command, “Jump.” You were quick to wrap your legs around his hips, arms tangling around his neck as he carried you to bed. He set you down gently before climbing over you. Quinn was always so gentle with you, making sure you were comfortable before continuing.
Quinn knew you were on birth control and that actually getting you pregnant now was not part of the plan, but he couldn’t stop himself from wanting it. He wanted to stuff you full, make sure the only thing you could feel was him. It was overwhelming, these feelings the both of you had, it was carnal.
Clothes came off quickly and before you knew it, Quinn’s cock was fully seated inside of you. He let you adjust to the stretch of him before setting a consistent rhythm. One that hit the deepest spots within you, making you writhe beneath him. He pinned your hips to the mattress as his thrusts sped up, slowly losing his resolve. You knew he was close and so were you. Leaning up you whispered in his ear knowing it would send him over the edge, “Quinn, let me make you a daddy” You breathy moan in his ear along with your words caused his thrusts to falter. He groaned, burying his head in your neck, and thrusting as deep in you as he could. You could feel the warmth of his release mixing with yours.
He stayed inside of you for a little bit longer before slowly pulling out. Both of you winced at the feeling before Quinn looked down between your legs. He looked mesmerized at his cum leaking out of you. Before he could stop himself he reached down and stuffed two fingers inside of you, pushing his cum back in. You moaned at the sensitivity and grabbed his wrist. Quinn looked up at you with wide eyes, “Shit- Sorry, princess, I couldn’t help myself, gotta make sure it takes. I gotta keep you full of me, baby.”
Your eyes slightly rolled back at that, pulling him down to kiss you. He eventually pulled his fingers out from between your thighs and you were quick to lick them clean. Quinn chuckled and laid down next to you, hauling you into his arms and taking deep breaths. Neither of you expected that this was how your night was going to end, but you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Quinn kissed your forehead, “I cannot wait to make you my wife, or for us to start our own family when we are ready, I want forever with you.” Your eyes closed as you basked in the moment, tears gathering on your waterline because of the immense amount of love you felt for Quinn. All you could do was nod and mutter, “Me too, I love you so much.” After that you and Quinn fell asleep completely content and so in love.

notes: ideas from this ask!
★・・・・★・・・・ ★・・・・★
quinn glances at you from the rented car, your hair blowing angelically around your face. he thinks you're the most beautiful woman he's ever seen, even as you grimace and unstick your locks from your lipgloss.
his hand is heavy and warm on your thigh, your much smaller hand tucked over it.
he's both nervous and excited: you're the first girl he's ever brought to the lake house, the only one he's ever loved like this.
when quinn and you finally pull up to the lake house, luke and jack run out to greet you guys.
they offer hugs and brotherly kisses on the cheek to you, jack's girlfriend following close behind, the two of you reuniting with a squeal, chattering about some reality tv show.
his parents are at the door, hugging their oldest and his mom pulls you into a tight embrace too. jim tucks you under his arm, wanting to show you his new grill.
ellen and jim, who along with the rest of his brothers, met you at the hughes bowl game. technically, his mom had met you over facetime a week after you'd made it official.
at first, he could tell that she'd been a little wary of your public status and insane amount of fame but after getting to know you and seeing how much you cared for her son, she'd accepted you into the family with open arms. his dad liked you from the beginning, because you made chocolate chip cookies and looked at quinn like he hung the moon.
that night is busy and full of chatter, months worth of catching up finally done. you head up to shower and bed first, and jim slaps quinn's back as he gets up from where he was playing video games with his brothers for a drink of water.
"she's good for you son. don't let her get away," he grins, and quinn laughs, shaking his head.
"i don't plan to, dad. don't worry."
nearly an hour later when he drags his heavy feet up to his room and opens his door, he sees you and is suddenly wide awake.
you're on his bed, wearing a set of pink cotton pajamas, the thin and sparse material almost as soft as your skin under the warm over head light. you glow, you're prescence temptingly familiar.
he leans on the frame of the door just to watch you in your element.
your pretty, smooth legs are crossed, propping up your guitar as you softly pick at the strings with quick-practiced fingers and hum under your breath.
the first ever time he'd listened to you sing he'd realized that you were probably a genius. he'd never really been into music all that much as a kid, but he vaguely remembered you on the television at his friend's house and seeing posters of you everywhere.
at such a young age, you'd been famous, making millions of dollars and working with huge brands; yet here you are, hair still a little damp and looking like one of his teenage wet-dreams.
oh, if only 16-year-old quinn hughes could see this. actually, he'd probably be yelling at himself to join you on the bed.
"hey, baby." he murmurs, and you look up, smiling with tired eyes.
you let him set your guitar carefully into it's case, and he offers you soft kisses that make you giggle and squirm before he goes to the bathroom to wash up.
you're under the covers when he returns, and he crowds into you, shoving his face into your neck and breathing the familiar smell you your skin and bodywash.
he pushes his head into your chin as you laugh, soft voice saying something about acting like a dog, but he doesn't care.
he wants to merge into one with you, as weird as it sounds. being close to you physically is almost not enough. he feels like he can't breathe and that you're fresh air all at the same time, affection for you clogging thick in his throat.
you rub his scalp and his temples and his bones melt, his weight flattening you to the mattress.
he knows he's too heavy, but he can't bear the thought of moving even an inch from you, so his hands finds the curve of your waist, lifting you easily so you're chest to chest, your body like a weighted blanket on him.
"goodnight, quinny," you press a kiss into the little space in between his clavicles, the little dip pale under the stream of moonlight through the crack of the curtains.
he returns the favour to your guitar-calloused fingertips, and the two of you breathe in tandem as sleep finds you.
★・・・・★・・・・ ★・・・・★
the next afternoon, after a big breakfast and a lazy morning, all of you usher out to the boat, eager to catch any droplet of that good, good michigan sunshine. ellen sends you all off with a cooler of drinks and sandwiches.
after quinn sets down the cooler and the other boys are figuring out the logistics of the boat, he tucks his big hands under your armpits and lifts you onto the wobbling vessel easily.
you kiss his cheek in thanks, and once everyone is settled down, jack's girlfriend whips out a humongous bottle of sunscreen and begins to slather her boyfriend down.
quinn sighs as you fill your hands with the sun cream, and turns grudgingly, back muscles shifting under pale skin.
he hisses as the cold liquid, his fingers coming to smack at the side of your thigh playfully when you laugh.
he helps you apply it too; you push at his head when his hands wander and you flush a sunburnt pink.
through out the day, as jack, luke and quinn take turns driving and wakeboarding, you tanned with jack's girl, planting yourself on your boyfriend's lap whilst he drove and tucked yourself on the seat with your book.
as the sun was setting and the boys were still insisting on wakeboarding, the music from the speakers was blasting music (once in a while, one of your songs would come on, and the whole boat would cheer, much to your embarrassment) as you nestled into your seat between quinn's legs, your back pressed up to his bare chest.
it was chilly on the water, quinn's hoodie and body heat around you your only source of warmth.
luke complains about all of the pda as the four of you laugh at his whining, and quinn rubs your goosebump-littered thighs.
you sigh happily, utterly exhausted but so, so content.
★・・・・★・・・・ ★・・・・★
quinn watches from his seat on the couch as you and his mother, the two most important women in his life, laugh together while cooking dinner.
ellen tells you something, and you giggle, glancing at him. he realizes he's grinning unconciously.
honestly, his mom is probably roasting him or telling an embarrassing story, but he doesn't mind. it's oddly domestic seeing you with his family, and he's delighted how well you fit in.
later that night, as the you settle in for bed, he asks what you were talking about with his mom.
your eyes glitter with adoration as you cup his jaw. he leans into your touch, his own hand resting over yours.
"you," you tell him so earnestly, and his heart fills with so much love.
three words rest on his tongue, but you yawn sleepily, tucking yourself into his side.
he lays awake for a few moments, the words heavy like a treasure box full of gold, ready to burst at any moment.
he is so, so in love with you.
★・・・・★・・・・ ★・・・・★
three months later, when the air in vancouver is bordering on brisk, and when he finds you wearing his sweaters more often than not, you sit him down after dinner, passing him your laptop.
"i have something for you," you tell him nervously. he doesn't like seeing you unsettled, so he sweeps his thumb over your cheek until you relax.
he presses play on the video, and an acoustic guitar starts playing.
your angelic voice joins in, and he automatically bites back a smile.
i hope that you get everything you could ask for the cold side of your pillow, a real break for once good peppermint tea with cool wind on the drive home with no traffic for miles, for spring to come
the video fades into what he thinks are snippets of your first few months together immortalized on your camcorder: him ordering your coffee, walking in stanley park in the early march, him tying your skates on your third date, him driving, relaxed with the windows down on the way to the lake house.
i swear that i wasn't looking for much but that's just when you happened that's right when you happened got so damn close to packing it up but that's just when you happened and then you happened then you happened
it hits him at the chorus: this song is about him. you wrote a love song about him. he looks at you, and you're a little pink, still fidgeting. he hopes that his awe-struck expression is enough for now, because he has no words.
now i'm red in the face, and shy all of a sudden you move, i move, it's something, you fit perfectly and replace every game, you push none of my buttons and hold me through the morning, kinda new for me
the next clip streams seamlessly onto the screen. it's taken shakily through a screen door, the two of your figures swaying in a slow dance on the porch, the sun rising on the docks in the distance.
he relishes in how good the two of you look together, how right.
as the chorus plays, you tell him, "i think your mom took that,"
and he laughs voice broken with emotion, because of course his mom could tell how absolutely devoted he was to you.
i hope that you get my dark sense of humor sunsets in the summer with your family don't stop talking to me, maybe stay here forever we could die here together, I'd do it happily
around the campfire, the grainy-filtered camera pans to each member of his family, everyone laughing and chattering as they roasted marshmallows. the sun was a pretty orange against the purple-pink backdrop of the sky.
i'll hold you, i'll know you i'll never leave out the back door and i'd love to complete you hope you get all you could ask for
he watches with teary eyes a video of the two of you on the boat, in your own world. you're wrapped up in his hoodie and his arms as he rests his cheek on your head. he says something to you, and you throw your head back laughing, leaning back onto his shoulder.
'cause i swear that i wasn't looking for much but that's just when you happened that's right when you happened got so damn close to packing it up but that's right when you happened mm, then you happened
the last clip is of him, wearing a thin shirt and shorts, back to the camera. he's standing on the docks, hand reaching behind him to you.
your hand, he recognizes, slips into his perfectly and he turns, a devastatingly smitten look on his face as he looks to you.
when the music ends, he's pouting a little to keep from crying.
normally he doesn't get emotional easily, but you make it so easy for him to be vulnerable.
you smile, a little wobbly but gorgeous as ever as he tugs you onto his lap, burying his face into your neck.
he's sure you can feel his teary eyes and warm cheeks, but he doesn't mind.
"thank you, thank you," he mutters into your skin, clearing his throat when his voice cracks, "no one has ever done...anything like that for me before."
"you like it?" you ask, delighted.
"i love it, sweetheart," he tells you, kissing every inch of you he can.
those three words are back on his tongue, and if he's honest, they never left.
"i love you." he tells you steadily, his voice gravelly from the sheer force of his feelings.
you gasp a little, and he shakes his head: how could you ever doubt that he loves you with his entire being?
between tear-wet kisses and sweet, feather-soft caresses, you tell him you love him too.
he's never been too good with words, at expressing how he feels, but for you?
he'd tell you he loves you every single day.

The Party Planner
Matt Rempe x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Trevor, Jack, and Luke learn they probably should knock before surprising people for their birthday…
Word Count: 2K
A/N: Gonna make this a series abt her being a lowk nepo baby
Y/N’s life had always revolved around hockey. As the daughter of a star defenseman from the ’90s, her childhood was filled with rink-side memories, locker room laughs, and endless conversations about the game. Her dad had gone to university with Ellen and even played on the Mens National Team when Ellen played for the womens. With that remaining close especially when she married Jim. They all remained close with him. Because of that, Y/N grew up with the Hughes brothers—Jack, Quinn, and Luke—feeling more like family than friends.
As she got older, Y/N’s life diverged from the rink. She found fame as an actress, rising through the ranks to become a household name in Hollywood. Still, no matter how bright the spotlight got, she stayed close to her roots. Her friendships with the Hughes brothers expanded to include other NHL players like Trevor Zegras and Cole Caufield. Whether it was hanging out in the off-season or cheering them on from the stands, she was the unofficial sibling of hockey’s rising stars.
But her personal life was a little more complicated.
For the past few months, Y/N had been dating Matt Rempe, a towering enforcer with a reputation for physical play and an even bigger temper. The hockey world knew him as the guy who spent more time in the penalty box than on the ice. His aggressive playing style and frequent fights had earned him a demotion to the AHL—a fact her father and friends couldn’t overlook.
“Are you sure about him?” her dad had asked more than once, skepticism clear in his voice.
Even Jack, Luke, and Trevor had their doubts. “I mean, he’s a good guy, right?” Jack had said cautiously. “But, uh…maybe not your guy.”
Yeah, like someone who doesn’t punch people for fun,” Trevor added.
Y/N brushed off their concerns. They didn’t know Matt like she did. Sure, he had a reputation, but beneath the rough exterior was a man who was kind, funny, and fiercely protective. He treated her like gold, and that was all that mattered. Winning over her friends and family would take time, but she was willing to wait.
As her birthday approached, Y/N opted for a quiet celebration. Between work and travel, she wanted nothing more than a simple dinner with close friends. What she didn’t know was that Luke, Jack, and Trevor had cooked up a plan to surprise her.
Trevor stood in the aisle of a party supply store, holding up a pack of balloons. “I’m telling you, this is the move. We sneak into her place, decorate, and when she gets home—bam! Surprise party.”
Luke raised an eyebrow. “How do we know she’s not there?”
“She told me she was filming or something,” Jack said, tossing a bag of confetti into the cart. “We’ll be in and out. Easy.”
An hour later, armed with decorations and a cake, the trio let themselves into Y/N’s apartment. Trevor insisted on carrying the cake, while Jack and Luke carried the rest.
“She’s gonna love this,” Trevor said, plopping the cake box onto the kitchen counter.
Jack grinned. “Yeah, if we don’t screw it up.”
The three quickly got to work. Jack wrestled with an oversized banner that read HAPPY BIRTHDAY, trying to hang it over the living room window. Trevor blew up balloons, complaining about the lack of a helium tank, while Luke meticulously set up confetti-filled balloons around the coffee table.
“This is looking pretty good,” Luke said, stepping back to admire their handiwork.
“Where do you want the cake?” Trevor asked, balancing it precariously on one hand.
“Counter,” Jack mumbled, still wrestling with the banner. “Let’s finish before she gets home.”
“She’s not home,” Trevor said confidently, grabbing a balloon to blow up.
But he was wrong.
Y/N was home, and she wasn’t alone.
In her bedroom, she and Matt had spent the morning together, enjoying a rare, quiet day off. They’d slept in, laughed over shared jokes, and gotten caught up in each other in a way that made the rest of the world fade into the background.
Matt leaned back against the headboard, a lazy grin on his face. “So, part one of your birthday present?”
“Can it be presented with people around? Or is this a private one” Y/N replied, running a hand through his tousled hair.
“Definitely just us, might give your dad a heartattack” Matt teased, pulling her closer. “Come here”
She rolled her eyes but couldn’t help smiling. They leaned in for another kiss creating explicit faint sounds of muffled noises through the apartment.
Out in the living room, Trevor froze mid-step. “Wait. Did you hear that?”
Jack, teetering on a chair, glanced over his shoulder. “Hear what?”
Trevor held up a hand, signaling for silence. All three of them stilled, ears straining. From down the hallway came the faint sound of moans—deep and unmistakably male and female.
Luke’s face turned bright red. “Oh my.”
“No way,” Trevor whispered, a grin spreading across his face.
Jack hopped down from the chair, his expression one of sheer panic. “It’s not what you think. Maybe she left the TV on.”
Another sound—this time softer, followed by an unmistakable thud—left no room for doubt.
“Oh, this is gold,” Trevor whispered, clutching the edge of the couch for support.
Luke groaned, burying his face in his hands. “We have to leave. Right now.”
“Agreed,” Jack said, already gathering their decorations. “Pack it up. Let’s go.”
Trevor, however, lingered. “Guys. We could just—”
“Nope,” Jack snapped, grabbing Trevor by the arm. “We’re leaving. Now.”
As they scrambled for the door, another sound—one that they really didn’t want to identify—echoed from the bedroom.
“Call Quinn,” Luke muttered as they fled into the hallway. “Call Quinn right now.”
Quinn answered on the second ring. “What’s up?”
Trevor’s voice came through in a near-shout. “You’ll never guess what just happened!”
“What did you do now?” Quinn asked, sounding suspicious.
“We didn’t do anything!” Trevor insisted. “But we went to surprise Y/N for her birthday, and, uh…”
Jack snatched the phone. “We heard them! Her and Matt. Going at it like rabbits.”
“What?!” Quinn sounded half-amused, half-horrified.
Luke’s groan was audible in the background. “It was so bad. I don’t think I’ll ever recover.”
Trevor took the phone back, grinning. “Quinn, I’m telling you. I’m traumatized, but it was also hilarious.”
“You guys are idiots,” Quinn said, though there was laughter in his voice. “Please tell me you didn’t say anything.”
“We ran out of there so fast, they probably didn’t even know we were there,” Trevor assured him.
“Good,” Quinn said. “Because if Y/N finds out, she’s going to kill you.”
Later that day, Cole joined the group call, his laugh echoing through the line as they recounted the story.
“She’s going to find out eventually,” Cole said, wiping tears of laughter from his eyes. “You guys are the worst.”
Jack groaned. “Don’t remind me.”
Meanwhile, back in her apartment, Y/N had no idea what had just transpired—or the chaos that her well-meaning friends had unleashed.
Weeks after her birthday, Y/N found herself seated in a sleek studio alongside Jack, Trevor and Jamie Drysdale, appearing on Instagram live. The atmosphere was casual and lighthearted, the kind of energy Trevor thrived on—and the kind that made Y/N suspicious of what he might say.
Jamie leaned forward with a grin. “So, Y/N, how was your birthday? Heard stuff happened but I’ve been so busy can’t believe I missed it.”
Y/N smiled warmly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “It was great, honestly. Very low-key. Just how I like it.”
Trevor, sitting to her left, suddenly perked up, a mischievous glint in his eye. “Not that low-key,” he muttered, loud enough for everyone to hear.
Jack immediately groaned and slumped in his chair. “Trevor, no.”
“What?” Trevor said innocently, spreading his hands. “It’s a funny story!”
Jamie’s grin widened. “Oh, I need to hear this. What happened?”
Y/N shot Trevor a warning glance, but he was already leaning into the phone, fully committed to his role as the ultimate pot-stirrer.
“So,” Trevor began dramatically, “we thought it would be a good idea to surprise Y/N for her birthday. You know, being the amazing friends we are. Balloons, banners, cake—the works. We figured we’d sneak into her apartment and have it all ready for when she got back.”
Y/N shook her head, already sensing where this was going. “Trevor…”
Trevor ignored her. “The thing is, we didn’t realize she was home—and, uh, she wasn’t alone.”
Jamie burst out laughing. “You’re kidding!”
“Oh, yeah,” Trevor continued, grinning ear to ear. “We’re mid-decorating—Luke’s got balloons, Jack’s fighting with a banner—and then we hear…” He paused for dramatic effect, lowering his voice. “Let’s just say we heard things.”
The studio erupted in laughter. Jack buried his face in his hands, muttering, “I told him not to tell this story.”
Trevor was on a roll now. “We froze, completely starstruck. Like, ‘Is that Matt?’ And sure enough…” He trailed off, smirking at Y/N.
Y/N, her face a mix of embarrassment and exasperation, finally spoke up. “Are you serious right now?” She turned to Jamie. “This is Trevor’s favorite pastime—making up ridiculous stories to embarrass me.”
Trevor looked affronted. “Making up? Oh, no, this is 100% real. Ask Luke!”
Y/N rolled her eyes. “I’m telling you, it’s not true. Matt and I would never—” She gestured sarcastically and vaguely, clearly trying to keep the conversation from getting too graphic. “This is pure fabrication.”
Jamie leaned in, still laughing. “So you’re saying you weren’t home?”
“I was home,” Y/N admitted, her voice calm but firm. “But Trevor has a very active imagination. Matt and I were for sure watching a movie in the bedroom.”
Jack, seeing an opportunity to back her up, jumped in. “Yeah, I mean…we didn’t actually see anything. We just heard…stuff. Could’ve been the TV.”
Trevor groaned. “Don’t cover for her! You know what we heard.”
Y/N crossed her arms, leaning back in her chair. “Oh, please, Trevor. You probably heard muffled sounds and immediately jumped to conclusions. Matt and I were watching a crime thriller.”
Trevor shrugged, clearly enjoying himself. “Hey, if the shoe fits.”
Jamie laughed so hard he had to wipe his eyes. “This might be my favorite story of all time.”
Y/N sighed, half-laughing despite herself. “I can’t believe I’m defending my perfectly pg 13 relationship on live.”
“You’re welcome,” Trevor said smugly.
Jack chimed in, trying to steer the conversation away from further disaster. “Honestly, the best part is how fast we ran out of there. Luke didn’t even look back. We just left everything—balloons, streamers, the whole setup. It’s probably still there.”
Y/N groaned, burying her face in her hands. “You guys are unbelievable.”
Jamie grinned. “Well, whether it’s true or not, it sounds like Y/N’s birthday was very memorable.”
Trevor gave a mock toast to the phone. “To Y/N and Matt—congrats on keeping things…entertaining.”
Y/N gave him a playful shove, laughing despite her embarrassment. “Next time, maybe knock before you decide to play party planner.”
As the live wrapped, Y/N couldn’t help but shake her head. She might never live this down, but at least life with these guys was never boring.

The ice rink spread out in front of you like a glittering expanse of danger. You sat on the bench, your legs bouncing nervously as you adjusted your skates for the tenth time. Jack was already on the ice, skating circles like it was second nature, which, of course, it was for him. He made it look so easy—gliding, spinning, even stopping with that smooth little spray of ice. Meanwhile, you couldn’t even stand up without wobbling like a baby deer.
“Are you planning on sitting there all day?” Jack called out, his voice carrying across the rink. He skated closer, stopping in front of you with the kind of control that made you want to simultaneously swoon and roll your eyes.
“I’m thinking about it,” you said, crossing your arms.
Jack grinned, leaning his elbows on the boards. “Come on, it’s not that bad. You’ll be fine.”
“You say that because you’ve been skating since you could walk,” you shot back. “Some of us weren’t raised on frozen ponds, you know.”
“Excuses, excuses,” he teased. “You’ve got this. I’m literally right here. What’s the worst that could happen?”
“I could fall. I could break something. I could fall and break something.”
He laughed, the sound warm and familiar. “First of all, you’re not gonna fall. And second, if you do, I’ll catch you. Third, the only thing you’re gonna break is my heart if you don’t try.”
You rolled your eyes so hard you were surprised they didn’t stick. “That was terrible.”
“But effective,” he said, holding out his gloved hand. “Come on. One lap. I promise, if you hate it, I won’t bug you about it again.”
You stared at his hand like it was a lifeline—and maybe it was. With a resigned sigh, you took it, letting him pull you to your feet. The second your skates touched the ice, your legs wobbled alarmingly.
“Jack—”
“I’ve got you,” he said quickly, stepping in close and steadying you with his hands on your waist. “You’re not gonna fall. Just bend your knees a little. That’s it. Keep your weight forward.”
You clung to him like a lifeline, your fingers gripping his forearms as you shuffled forward. “If I die, I’m haunting you forever.”
“Deal,” he said, his grin wide and teasing. “But you’re not gonna die. You’re already doing great.”
“Liar,” you muttered, but a tiny laugh slipped out despite yourself.
Jack started skating backward, pulling you along slowly. His hands stayed on yours, his grip firm and reassuring. “Okay, now push off with one foot, then the other. Like you’re walking. You don’t have to go fast.”
You hesitated but did as he said, your movements tentative at first. To your surprise, it didn’t feel as impossible as you’d thought. The glide of the skates was smoother than you expected, and Jack’s steady presence made you feel just a little braver.
“See?” he said, his voice full of pride. “You’re doing it!”
“I’m barely moving,” you pointed out, but you couldn’t keep the smile off your face.
“It counts,” he said firmly. “Baby steps.”
After a few minutes, you started to find a rhythm, your strides becoming a little more confident. Jack let go of one of your hands, skating beside you with an easy grace that made you want to glare at him.
“Why are you so good at this?” you asked, half-joking, half-exasperated.
He shrugged, smirking. “Years of practice. Natural talent. Superior genetics.”
“Oh, shut up.”
Jack laughed, and before you could react, he reached over and poked your side, making you yelp. “Hey! Hands on the ice, not me!”
“Just testing your balance,” he said innocently, though the glint in his eyes said otherwise.
“Do that again, and I’ll—”
“Fall right into my arms?” he interrupted, grinning.
You groaned, your cheeks heating despite the cold. “You’re the worst.”
“And yet, here you are,” he said, his voice softening just a bit. “Trusting me not to let you fall.”
You glanced at him, and for a moment, the teasing melted away. His gaze was warm and steady, the kind of look that made you feel like maybe you really could do this.
“I guess you’re not completely the worst,” you admitted, your voice quieter now.
“High praise,” he said, grinning again.
By the end of the lap, you were gliding more than shuffling, and Jack looked like he might burst with pride.
“You’re a natural,” he said as you stopped near the boards, your legs a little shaky but your heart light.
“Let’s not get carried away,” you said, laughing. “But… it wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be.”
“Told you,” he said, nudging your shoulder playfully.
You rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t stop smiling. And as Jack skated beside you, his hand brushing yours every so often, you thought maybe, just maybe, you could get used to this.

okay so…not that anyone asked but i have some…thoughts about this discourse surrounding jack’s signing last night
and honestly….i’m sad. i’m so insanely sad that so many people who claim to love this team are so quick to assume jack is a lost cause asshole. i think so much of it is entitlement. and yeah, as people, everyone deserve kindness and overall base level social behaviors. but where is that for jack right now?
where’s the grace and understanding that he’s tired. they likely had a day full of practice and drills and workouts before this signing. i mean, did he even get to go home before he was expected to sit and sign autographs for hours? why was he alone? why didn’t they put him with someone else? i know the answer is likely because he was the most sought after signature there and they didn’t want to make his line even longer, but still. i feel like jack has been very open and intentional with the fact he doesn’t like to do media. he wants to play hockey and go home.
and yeah, he also knew it came with the territory, but it doesn’t matter. if you sign up to be a teacher, you know there’s going to be early mornings, but that doesn’t mean you have to like getting up early. if you agree to work in healthcare, you know there’s going to aspects of the job that are gross and unfortunate, but it doesn’t mean you have to like cleaning up bodily fluids. the same can be said for these guys. they signed up to be professional hockey players, they knew media and signings and events were going to be expected of them, but it doesn’t mean they have to like it.
but back to entitlement thing. i think it has become so normalized to create personas for real people in our heads that people are quite literally unable to separate the fantasy from reality. and i mean, i’ll even say i contribute to the problem. all fanfic writers do. we create these idealized and fictional versions of these men, but the ability to differentiate between the two cannot be lost in the process. but i think it has been. i think there’s this unrealistic expectation thrust upon all of them, but especially jack.
he’s popular, he’s cutie, and he’s good at hockey. of course he’s going to have a mass following. but…he’s just a guy, y’all. he’s a guy that has bad days, good days, who gets tired, who has a social battery. and last night, i think that social battery had just run out. do you know how long he’s been watched and in the media? do you know how long he’s been the most watched hughes, the expectations he’s carried on him for years?
i just think there needs to be some compassion and grace here. going back to the whole “people pay to watch me play” incident is a little excessive, imo. i mean, are we going to hold every single player to everything they’ve ever said in the box? does it define who they are and their character? i have not once seen anyone berate and question quinn’s character when he told someone they were “fucking nothing”. which, if you really want to get down to it, is worse than what jack said.
but no, jack is expected to be this guy with rainbows coming out of his ass all the time, apparently. i think the concept of social cues and situational awareness has been so lost because of the screen culture right now. people do so much communication through screens and phones that they forget, people aren’t always enthusiastic and bright, even if they add an exclamation point to their text. last night was not something jack chose to do of his own accord. he was told to do it, and he did it. he made sure the kids had a good time and felt cared for. he signed everything that came across his table. could he have been a little more chatty? yeah. could he have maybe smiled a bit more? yeah.
but seriously, he knew he was going to have to sign a million different items and see a million different people. the whole point of a signing is just that. if he was even remotely going to get out of there on time, there’s no way he could have had any meaningful conversation with every single person. and i feel like he’s said before he prioritizes/likes kids? i could be wrong, so don’t hold me to that.
but the point is, this whole situation is so sad and such a good example of how gossip blogs only care about getting likes and reblogs and attention. they don’t care about these players, no matter how much they claim to. and people are so quick to take everything they read for fact. personally, i think jack is just…antisocial.
i think he has a persona on the ice because he’s in his element, he’s comfortable, and he’s excited to be there. when he’s with his family and around his friends, he seems to be an overall happy guy. but around strangers? strangers that want to talk about his stats, how he played in this game or that game, that are shoving their items in his face to sign, people that he’ll likely never see again? he doesn’t give too much away.
and before people mention the being snippy and short with the workers, i wasn’t there so i didn’t see what happened. if he was, i’m not defending that behavior, but i don’t think it’s because he thinks he’s above them or thinks he’s “god’s gift to hockey” like i’ve seen thrown around so much today. we have all been snappy with people we shouldn’t have before. it doesn’t mean someone is this terrible person with a high horse attitude. i think it’s a combination of fatigue, stress, and maybe even some anxious energy that had been built up and made its way out.
anyways, i’ve said enough i think, and this will be the first and only time i talk about this, but i had too many thoughts swirling in my brain to just keep them there. be nice. show grace. you’re allowed to be disappointed if you attended last night and felt like he was maybe dry and dismissive, but please step back and put yourself in his shoes. not every person has a social and yappy personality. some people don’t speak unless they have something to say. and that’s okay!!!
and for the love of god, quit giving gossip blogs what they so desperately crave

warnings ; blood, knife play, fear play, mentions of murder, oral (f), voyerism but its a ghost that isn’t there?, abandoned house, ghostface/hannibal mask?, bf!jack x afab!reader,”, hide and seek :), and other freakish shit I had no idea I was lowkey attracted to. not proofread.
wc; 2.2k
a/n ; I started this during october and lost the motivation so have this in late november! I have no explanation, it is exactly what it looks like. if this is something you’re not into pleasee don’t read, this is twisted and nasty bc that’s how I function <3 once again, read at your own risk. with that, insane!jack can terrorize me anyyydayyy.
If it was anyone else stalking you down the halls of an abandoned house, with a legitimate knife and a scary mask, you would’ve ran out of the place like your ass was on fire.
However, it was only Jack. Your boyfriend.
You could tell something different in his low chuckles when he came closer to wherever you were hiding, the playful game of cat and mouse you had started turning into something more menacing in the dark rooms and hallways of the house.
The two of you were lovesick for all horror stories and urban legends, and you knew of the story of the haunted house at the end of the street, so you decided to venture there together to get away from the parties. Still clad in your Halloween costumes.
It was a slutty Halloween party, so you wore a tight fitting black top that showed more than it should and a black mini skirt. You had fake blood all over your cleavage, neck, and one single dried drop down the side of your temple. You matched with Jack’s muscle tee and black sweats, his obscured version of a ghostface-hannibal mask, and knife.
And now, Jack was doing everything in his power to ensure that your heart stayed thumping hard against your ribcage, your palms were sweaty, that you were genuinely scared before you use the code word for stopping any terrifying prank either of you were pulling on each other. You’ve never really said it before because neither of you were that easy to scare, and you didn’t take it that far.
For the record, Jack did have you feeling all of those things, not because you were scared, but because you were thrilled. Though, you’d have to admit, it was the thought of being so terrified that you liked it that really had your chest heaving with anticipation.
You wanted to know what the man in the mask could do. How he would use his knife.
“Jack?” You called out meekly, stepping carefully into the master bedroom, that had nothing but moonlight illuminating it. Your voice may be weak, but you were feeling the opposite inside, your heart burning with the desire to feel that knife against your throat at least once, to see nothing but Jack’s hooded eyes as he pressed hard enough to draw blood but not enough to really hurt you.
You knew he was near this area because you heard him here; any logical person would have turned right back but you ran towards the bullets.
You were about five steps into the bedroom when it slammed shut right behind you.
Again, any normal and sane person would’ve screamed, whipped around, ran—but you stayed still, breathing hard, a slow smirk spreading on your face. You didn’t turn around, you didn’t have to.
His shadow joined yours, standing right behind you and his heat radiated onto you, giving you much needed warmth to your bare shoulders and legs.
“Found you, doll.” He drawled, moving closer. You could hear the smirk in his voice.
“I wasn’t hiding.” You say as his chest lightly touches your shoulders, his hand barely ghosting over your waist before he grips it properly.
His palm is wet.
“Jack—”
“Blood.”
You gulp. “Whose?”
“Mine.”
You head starts spinning, as if he drew your blood. You feel a spark of concern, leaning back into him, trying to wordlessly communicate it.
“S’all good, doll.” He softens his voice slightly, leaning into you.
You stiffen up again, standing straight, falling back into ‘character’ instantly.
This time, his other arm snakes around your waist, you see the glint of the knife before it lays flat against your stomach. It’s like that for a moment before Jack abruptly turns you around.
“All that chasing—you liked that, hm?”
His bloody hand stays on your waist while the other traces the blunt edge of the knife over your breasts. The mask is pretty scary, but his raspy voice and cold blue eyes work more for you. The tip of the knife just barely touches the underside of your chin; if you nod, it would pierce your skin. The thought sent a rush of heat throughout your body, and you nod carefully, the blade pinching your chin. It wasn’t enough to draw blood, but Jack understood that’s what you wanted, you could see the smile reaching his eyes as he pushes the knife up just a bit. A wave of heat mixed with pain rushes over you as you feel the smallest trickle of blood run down your neck and mix with the fake blood on your tits.
Jack’s chest shakes with a small laugh. You’re sure you could drown in your arousal.
“Fuck, y’liked that too? What am I going to do with you?”
Before you could answer, he removed the knife and lifted his mask, putting the tip of it on his tongue and licking it clean. You let out a whimper at the action, unable to resist the burning desire in your lower stomach.
“Careful, baby,” he tutts, shaking his head slightly, tracing the blunt end down to the front of your mini skirt, “he could’ve heard you.”
‘He’ was the man who owned the house in the 19th century. ‘He’ murdered the intruder that came into his house and killed his wife. ‘He’ then turned the knife on himself out of sorrow.
Jack knew you admired that man’s story.
Your cheeks flush at the thought of a fucking ghost watching what Jack was about to do to you.
Jack’s bloody hand touched the blood on your chin, the two combining in his thumb. He puts his thumb in your bottom lip, silently demanding you to suck, and you do.
Jack huffs, feeling your tongue swirl around his thumb with so much eagerness as he swiftly tears your mini skirt with the knife, causing you to let go of his thumb when you gasped. The skirt hit the floor.
You weren’t wearing anything underneath the it, the coolness of the night making you shiver as Jack’s eyes drop to your lower half.
You intentionally wore nothing underneath your top and skirt, hoping that Jack would make quick work of fucking you when the two of you got home. Maybe get some roleplay in between to thrill you a little.
But this was way, way more than you hoped for and you could never complain. The hottest man you knew had full access to your body and he had a knife. You were at his mercy completely.
Jack softly kicks near your heal to push your legs further apart before the blunt edge traces up your inner thigh, the coolness of the knife making you shake slightly.
“Jack.”
Jack ignores your pathetic whimper and puts the blunt edge of the knife directly between your folds. He could see your thighs glistening and he was delighted to learn how turned on you were.
Your jaw drops and your nails dig into his muscular forearm. “Shit, J—”
“Not another sound, doll. Unless you’re screaming.” In fear.
He moves the knife deliciously against your clit, spreading your slickness through your pussy. His other (bloody) hand works up your waist and toys with the hem of your shirt.
You hear a floorboard creak in the hallway and still.
“Hm, y’hear that too, doll? Sounded like someone was right outside the door.”
Your eyes become teary as you bit down on your lip. Hard enough to taste the metallic flavor of blood. Something flashed in Jack’s eyes and he pulls the mask off.
His knifed hand doesn’t pause its movements while his other grabbed the back of your neck, pulling your mouth roughly against his. His lips meet yours in a tangle of tongues and harsh sucking to where your lip was bleeding.
You didn’t know his thing for blood was that strong.
He pulls away and removes the knife as well. He looks directly at you with his icy blue eyes and sticks his tongue out, laying it flat against the blunt end and licking your arousal clean. He hums in satisfaction.
“Not enough,” he says once the knife is clean. Your heart was pounding with desire and fear, waiting for his next move. “I’m gonna eat you,” he pauses and smirks, “out, of course.”
Making cannabalistic implications? He’s truly out of it.
You wait for his next move patiently, the thought of doing such a filthy thing in the one place people stay away from already making the desire in your stomach deepen.
To your surprise, he turns you around, your back now facing the slightly ajar door (didn’t Jack slam it shut?) and Jack’s back now facing the wall. He instructs you to lie down on the floor, and you prop yourself up with your elbows, knees spread and bent. Jack lies down in front of you on his stomach, hooking your legs over his shoulders and ghosting his lips up your thigh.
He could sense your confusion at the position. You knew that he knew that he could’ve just pushed you back a few steps, gotten on his knee, and eaten you out against the wall.
“Wanted your back facing the door,” he frees one of his hands to push the hair away from his face, “and, I wanted you lying down so when he walks in, he has a proper view.”
You can hardly believe the words left his mouth before he latched his lips onto your cunt, sucking and licking through your folds, trying to get as deep as he could. He could feel the moan building through your chest, so before you actually could, he grabs the knife from next to him and put it half an inch away from the spot he pierced earlier.
“What did I say?”
“Not a sound.” You echo his words from before and refrain from whimpering at the cold, almost dead look in his eyes. It’s like something possessed him.
He hums before licking a stripe through your folds again, his eyes not moving away from yours. Partially because he wanted to keep you intimidated and partially because the knife was still under your chin and he would rather die than risk a wrong movement.
“He’s watching us, baby.” You feel Jack’s smirk before you register his words. You look into his eyes for a plot second before he sucked your clit so harshly, you threw your head back to stop the moan clawing up your throat.
The mere thought of that ghost watching while Jack was buried deep between your legs caused the pool of warmth in your lower stomach increase.
You don’t know if it had been hours or seconds since Jack was alternating between giving attention to your clit and folds, how long Jack had been talking through it, heavy breathing while telling you about the ‘man’s every move. You don’t know exactly how out of it you’d been, but you look down to see your shirt ripped neatly down the middle, your tits hanging out and nipples hardening in the cool air, that you didn’t know when Jack even pulled away from you. The warmth of his hands on you never left.
He did it.
Subconsciously, you knew he didn’t do it, but the thought brought you closer regardless.
“He’s right behind you, doll.”
Your mouth parts in a silent whine and your eyes roll to the back of your head. Your elbows were sore from the position, so you lay fully down, tangling your fingers through Jack’s messy hair as him and his words nearly tip you over the edge. The last thing you see is his eyes flashing as he eagerly licks and sucks your clit, as if he really saw someone standing behind you. Your back arches off the floor and it takes everything within you not to let out the high-pitched moan you were holding in.
You don’t know if it was some arousal induced hallucination but you swore you saw a figure when you threw your head back while Jack worked through your orgasm, but you knew it was what really tipped you over. Jack groans into you, kissing your inner thighs before pulling away.
He was amused, admiring your cloudy eyes and dazed expression. He hasn’t even gotten to fucking you yet.
He pulled off the now damaged top off of you and tapped your cheek. “Not done with you yet, baby. Hands and knees.”
He leaned down and quickly kissed you, a stark contrast to earlier. “Don’t need t’stay quiet this time.”
The bargain was enough for you to roll on your front, entirely bare in front of him now. You hadn’t noticed the dirty floor length mirror next to the door (that was now halfway open) earlier.
Jack met your eyes in the mirror, making quick work of his sweats and boxers, using his other hand to wrap around your neck, keeping you upright. He lets go of your neck and instead form hooks his thick arm around your chest, the blood on your tits coming onto his arm.
Another burst of wind rocks the house, floorboards creaking and you were sure you heard another door slam shut. You look up into Jack’s eyes and mirror his smirk.

You walk me to the car And you know I wanna ask you to dance right there In the middle of the parking lot
The game had just wrapped up, and the arena buzzed with the energy of victory. Jack had been on fire tonight, his usual flashes of brilliance lighting up the ice: his speed, his vision, the less-than way he threaded passes, all were reasons you loved watching him play. But tonight, something felt even more electric, even though the game had ended.
The two of you made our way through the quieting corridors of the arena, past the excited chatter of teammates and staff, heading toward the exit. The night air was cool against your skin as you and Jack stepped outside into the parking lot, the sounds of the city filling the silence between the two of you.
"You were amazing out there," you said, nudging Jack lightly with your shoulder.
He grinned at you, the glint in his eyes.
"Thanks. We got the win, that's what matters, right?"
"Of course," you said, smiling up at him. "But that assist in the third period? That was next level."
Jack's grin widened as he shoved his hands in his jacket pockets.
"You know I play better when you're watching," he teased. His voice was light, but you could make out the affection in his eyes.
You both had reached his car, but just before he turned the door open, Jack had turned and faced your direction. For some seconds, he was staring, like holding onto the quiet of that particular moment. The low hum of the city seemed very far, like the world had come down to just the two of you.
"Hey," he said softly, taking my hand, pulling you gently toward him. "I wanna ask you something."
You tilt your head, intrigued by the way his voice softened, his usual playful demeanor replaced by something more sincere.
"Anything," you replied, your heart skipped a beat.
"You walk me to the car," he started off, a smile pulling at his lips, "and you know I wanna ask you to dance right here. In the middle of the parking lot."
You blinked, not quite believing what you were hearing. But then his eyes flashed with that mischievous glint, and you just couldn't help it.
"You want to dance? Here? Now?"
Jack grinned, all charm. "Yeah. Out here. No music, just us."
You couldn't help but smile. This was so Jack: spontaneous, a little bit crazy, and completely endearing. But you didn't hesitate. Because right then and there, you knew it didn't matter where the two of guys were, whether a band was playing or a big crowd was watching, it was just him and you, and that was enough.
"Alright, let's do it," you said, pulling him toward the center of the empty parking lot.
The cool night air brushed against your cheeks as you and Jack stood there, the stars overhead sparkling like diamonds in the vastness of the sky. Jack took your hand, his fingers warm against yours, and he pulled you close.
"See? It's perfect," he murmured.
You looked up at him, your heart fluttering.
"You're crazy, you know that?"
He just shrugged, his grin never faltering.
"Crazy for you."
And then, without any music to lead the two of you, you guys started swaying. There was nothing to be heard except the soft rustling of the wind and the far-off buzz of the traffic. Your feet moved slowly without much rhythm, but it didn't matter. The two of you were in our own world, the noise of everything else falling away.
His hand was at the small of your back, tugging you closer while your arms wrapped around his neck. You felt the warmth emanating from his body, the steady beat of his heart against your chest, and in that single moment, it felt as though nothing else in the world could be more perfect.
"You know," he said in a hushed tone, his voice barely above a whisper, "this is probably one of the best parts of the night."
You smiled, your cheek resting against his shoulder. "I couldn't agree more."
You danced like that for hours, it felt like, the world silent around you except the sound of breathing, the rhythm of your feet upon the pavement. There were no distractions, no obligations, just the two of you, caught in this small, intimate moment.
At some point, you pulled back just enough to look up at him. His face was soft, his smile genuine, and the way he looked at you made everything else seem irrelevant.
"You know," you said, a teasing note in your voice, "we should probably get in the car before people start wondering why we're having a private dance party in the parking lot."
Jack's eyes danced with mischief.
"Let them wonder. This is our moment."
Run your hands through your hair Absent mindedly makin' me want you
You watched Jack from the passenger seat as he took the roads, his eyes on the streets ahead, hands clasped on the wheel with that natural ease that always made him look so confident. Jack was always composed under pressure, whether it was on the ice or moments like these; it was one of the things you loved most about him.
As the night settled into a peaceful rhythm, you found myself getting lost in the way the light of the streetlamps danced across his face, casting shadows that so accentuated his features that he could almost have been the star of a movie scene. Then, without warning, he did it.
Jack ran a hand through his hair, pushing strands back, and it was as if the world around the two of you froze. You couldn't help the way your heart skipped at the simple, absent-minded gesture. His hand ruffled through his messy brown hair as if he didn't even realize what he was doing. But for you? Impossible to ignore.
It was such a small movement, yet it swallowed you in a wave of heat and made you want him more than you already did. He had done something so casual, not even thinking about it, and the surge of longing felt foreign.
"You make it hard to concentrate," you said softly, your voice almost a whisper.
At first, Jack didn't seem to hear you; his eyes remained fixed on the road ahead, but then you saw those lips curve into that playful smile, the one which always made your knees go weak. He glanced over at you for a second, eyes gleaming with mischief.
"Distracted already?"
You chuckled, shaking your head.
"Just… just run your hand through your hair again."
Jack's eyebrow rose in obvious amusement.
"What, this thing?" He lifted his hand and ran it through his hair again, this time slower, more deliberate.
You couldn't but laugh lightly, but inside, you were already a mess. Just the way he did it, effortless, natural. The way his fingers slid through his hair so absent-mindedly, the motion almost hypnotic, making you want him even more.
"You're impossible," you muttered, your voice playful, but full of undeniable tension.
He grinned, his eyes still on the road, yet the corners of his mouth curled upward in that  familiar, irresistible way.
"You love it," he said, as if it were some sort of fact.
You leaned back against the seat, feeling the warm night air through the slightly cracked window, trying to calm the fluttering in your chest. The streetlights blurred as you drove further into the quiet suburbs, but all you could focus on was Jack, his smile, the way he looked when he was so comfortable with you, the way his presence felt like home.
"Do you know what you do to me?" you asked lowly, your voice barely a whisper.
He looked at you again and softened.
"What do I do?"
You turned to him, your heart thudding in your chest.
"You just. you're so effortlessly you, and everything-every little thing-you do drives me crazy. You make me want you so much without even trying."
Jack didn't say anything for a minute, and the silence between the two of you stretched out just a bit longer than usual. Then he reached over, his hand finding yours, his fingers gently wrapping around it.
"You don't know how much I love hearing that," he said softly, his voice serious but warm.
You squeezed his hand; the touch from him was like an anchor- real. There was no need for great gestures, sweeping declarations, and quiet moments like these, where it was just the two of you and nothing outside existed.
As Jack turned onto your street and pulled into the driveway, he didn't immediately turn off the car. Instead, he looked over at you, his eyes soft, searching.
"What's on your mind?" he asked, his voice low almost to a murmur.
You looked at him, your heart pounding in your chest.
"You," you said simply, your voice soft but filled with all you felt at that moment.
And I don't know why But with you I'd dance in a storm In my best dress
It was one of those nights that have everything go just right-the kind that make you smile for no particular reason whatsoever. You and he had spent the evening enjoying each other's company, dinner at that little place the two of you loved, having laughed over dessert, talking about anything and everything. It wasn't anything extravagant, but that's what made it feel so special. It was just the pair of you, lost in your own little world.
As you guys left the restaurant and out into the cool night, the weather seemed to shift. The air had been crisp when you arrived, but now standing in the parking lot, the clouds overhead grew darker and the wind started to pick up. You could feel the first drops of rain hit your skin-light at first, but quickly turning into a steady downpour.
Jack didn't, though. His hand found yours, his fingers lacing with yours  as he led you toward the car.
"Looks like we're going to get soaked," he said with a grin, his voice light teasing.
"I don't mind," you replied, your smile matching his. "I think it's kind of perfect."
He glanced at you, a little surprised by your reply, but there was something in your voice that seemed to spark something in him. His thumb brushed over the back of your hand as he opened the car door for you.
But no sooner were you getting into the passenger seat than you felt the sudden urge to do some crazy thing. The rain was coming down in sheets now, and you couldn't help but think of all those times you dreamed about dancing in a storm. Why not now? Why not tonight?
Before Jack could even sit down in the driver's seat, you  threw open the passenger door and stepped back out into the rain, feeling its cool water rush over you. The sound of the storm was loud, thunder rumbling in the distance, but all you could hear was the beat of your heart racing in your chest.
You twirled to face him, a wild grin spreading across your face. "Come on," you hollered over the storm. "Let's dance!
Jack blinked in surprise, a soft laugh escaping his lips as he looked from you to the pouring rain. He shook his head, but his smile never faltered. He closed the car door and jogged toward you, his hands already reaching for yours as the two of you met in the middle of the parking lot.
And without another word, you danced. The rain came down on you guys, soaking through your clothes in seconds, but it didn't matter. The world around you could have been falling apart, and you wouldn't have noticed. Jack spun you around, wet hair flying around your face, and you laughed, the sound mingling with the rumble of thunder.
At that moment, there were only the two of you, lost in the storming chaos.
You stepped back and looked up at him, his face lit by the occasional flash of lightning. He, too, was laughing, his brown hair plastered to his forehead, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"I don't know why," you said, panting from the dance, "but with you, I'd dance in a storm, in my best dress."
Jack's smile softened as his gaze locked with yours, holding you close against him.
"You make everything perfect, even the storm."
You grinned, feeling the rain running down your skin, free, alive, the world yours for the taking.
"You know," you said, "I think I'd do this every night if I could."
Jack pulled you close against him, his arms wrapping around you, holding tight as the storm raged around the two of you. He rested his forehead against yours, his voice a quiet murmur as he said, "I'd dance in any storm, any time, as long as it's with you."
And in that moment, it didn't matter that you were soaked to the bone, or that the storm wasn't showing any signs of stopping. It didn't matter, because it was with him. And that was all that mattered.
You guys stood there, swaying together in the rain, dancing under the storm that couldn't touch the two of you, knowing that you had everything you needed in that moment.

This is me not knowing if your requests are open, but I’m gonna slide in your inbox anyways. I’m currently on my period at the moment and want to actually die, so this is me ever so kindly requesting for some tooth-rottenly sweet comfort with my boy. Whether it focuses on the reader struggling during her time of month or just overall seeking some comfort, I will happily accept either scenario
jack may have a reputation for being sassy and dry at times, but when he knows you need it? that man turns into the softest person on the planet.
he’s waiting on you hand and foot, treading lightly, not wanting to upset you any further. he’s speaking softly to you, as not to jar your sensitive state.
he makes sure you don’t have to make any decisions if you don’t want to, giving your tired brain a rest. he picks up your favorite take out, bringing it to you in the bedroom and eating with you in silence, never making you converse if you didn’t want to. he’s doing the dishes, finishing the laundry, running you a hot bath.
the days leading up to your period are always spent with you being a little off. your usual yappy nature gone, an overall sadness to your features and tone, and the random bouts of tears and extreme insecurity.
he hates it for you, knowing it’s not who you are, but also knowing you’re trapped in the endless cycle of falling victim to an upset in hormones that tricks your brain, every month. he wants nothing more than to help, but he can’t crawl in your brain and take the thoughts away. so, he does what he can.
he brings you your heating pad and meds anytime you so much as wince in discomfort. he holds you while giving your belly a gentle massage, trying to counteract the painful cramps radiating through your lower body. he make sure you have all of your favorite foods on hand. he watches your favorite movies and holds you when your emotions finally boil over. he reassures you that he loves you, more than you’ll ever know, and he’ll always be there when you need him.
he doesn’t mind being your rock. in fact, he loves it. he loves knowing he’s the only person that can bring you comfort when you need it most. he loves being the person you reach for when you want to be held while you cry over the notebook for the thousandth time. he loves the quality time he always gets with you during this week each month (unless he’s on a roadie) because you don’t want to go anywhere. he loves how you cling to him like a koala, his mere touch enough to relax your entire body.
he wants to be any and everything you need. he loves that most of time, your relationship is happy, go-lucky fun. he loves the banter you two have and the natural back and forth of your conversations. but he loves this, too. the domesticity of it all. he loves being able to switch to this soft, caretaker persona for a week each month. he never understood the way his parents always seemed to enjoy dotting on the other when they were sick or upset, but now he does.
he knows now, that the simplest, yet most rewarding, thing you can do for your partner is to simply be there. to anticipate their needs and show them the physical representation of your love. to be their comfort when nothing else in this world soothes them. be their voice of reason, even when their brain is working against them. reminding them that even in their weakest moments, they are deserving of softness, deserving of peace, and deserving of love.

what's your opinion on people's experiences at the event with jack last night?
seems like A LOT of people had the same bad/lukewarm experience
I love jack, he's always been my favorite player, but it's so annoying seeing how standoff-ish he is to media and fans, even being kinda rude sometimes 😭
i didn’t even bother going over to where he was stationed even to just say hello and tell him i was there because the line was the longest without competition, and i don’t need his autograph on anything (or want it. and yes i went. regardless of my social circles, i am still a fan of the team and the guys!) they had everyone snake through the stands, and from what i was told, by about 5:45, his line was almost at the bottom of the section and had extended into the next section over… 😬
even luke and nico’s lines didn’t come close to how long jack’s was, but i cannot point this out any more aggressively than this:
JACK DOES NOT LIKE SIGNINGS.
it’s almost funny, you guys. if i didn’t know how draining events like that are for him more than anyone else, i’d laugh. like he cannot stand these types of events. and because he’s him, and everyone and their extended family wants to see him more than anyone, events like these are exhausting, and he won’t ever be a totally social guy. also, because his line was miles long, the staff had to really push people right through as fast as possible so as many people could get their stuff signed as possible. even if last night’s event was smaller and more lax, he’ll get mobbed regardless, and it’s tiring and frustrating for him. so with all of that being said, knowing jack? his pretty dull personality last night is sadly not a shock. i know it must suck for fans, but he is and probably will always be like that at this type of thing 😭

Why is Jack public enemy number 1? Sorry I don’t go on twitter but I keep seeing it here on tumblr
According to some folks on Tumblr, Jack Hughes didn't smile at them or was rude to them or something at the team signing event last night.
Anon, you're in for a treat, because I will be defending a white man on main. lets go!
I want to first reiterate a few things...
this was a team signing event. not a meet and greet. meaning, Jack Hughes and the other players were there to sign things, any further interaction or anything would have been a plus. I think someone actually shared the rules of the event on twt, posted below. you couldn't even take selfies or pictures with the players. it was literally just a line where you handed over something that you wanted signed and it got signed. of course, there were players that personalized the signatures or let people take selfies and posed with them, but this wasn't actually a part of the experience nor should it have been an expectation.
Tumblr media
2. this is not "part" of Jack's job or any hockey players job for that matter. I think people need to realize that although hockey players are celebrities in a certain sense of the word, their interactions with fans are not a necessary part of their job. I'm seeing a bunch of people say that he's being unprofessional and if he can't be good with fans than he shouldn't be a hockey player, and thats, frankly, idiotic. Jack's job is being a hockey player. that is what he gets paid to do. anything on top of that is on top not a part of his job. please understand that a hockey player does not need to have a social media presence to do their job, doesn't ever need to interact with fans to do their job, and actually can play a hockey game without any fans and still get paid!
3. I genuinely don't believe any of the things being said on Tumblr are actually true or if these incidents of him being "rude" did occur I don't believe they're being interpreted the right way or are being relayed in the right context. Rather, I feel like this is just another instance of folks looking for a reason to dislike or even hate Jack. he's a very easy player to dogpile on because of how he plays and how he is portrayed by the media and his fanbase. you don't need a reason to hate the dude, go on and hate him, but please stop making up stories.
anyway...
as far as things I have seen and first person accounts I've been told, Jack was perfectly normal with everyone and especially nice to the kids.
folks are just mad that he didn't rise to whatever lofty expectations people had of Jack during a team signing event where everyone's time with the players was incredibly short and heavily policed. maybe be upset with how it was organized (like why did they have three player tables, it didn't make any sense!).
plus, I have seen several accounts of people hearing folks in line talking shit about Jack while waiting for him, so like what exactly do you expect to happen when he hears you waiting in line for his autograph and being entitled to his time and his generosity and you're chatting shit? like that he's gonna be all sunshine and roses with you? naaaaaaaah.
and finally, we speak so often about respecting the privacy of these players, taking into account their mental health, etc. but then you're gonna turn around and judge someone because they didn't do exactly what you wanted to do when you met them for fifteen seconds? so we're giving grace to players on one end and turning around and blasting other players. make it make sense.
this is essentially the "people pay to watch me play" incident all over again where that quote is taken out of context and then everyone and their mother runs with it because Jack is a very easy target.
