OP I am new to twisted wonderland but I saw the binding hc post and I uuuuuh have a request if that’s okay. My request is basically like, MC/Yuu who is AFAB and NB or Trans Masc who isn’t out. They get sorted into dorms or something and refuse to wear the uniforms because Tiddies are More Pronounced and that’s not cash gender of them. and they basically get into a fight with the dorm leaders that lead to them coming out while yelling and then just. The dorm leaders are like ???? Well shit that’s fixable why didn’t you say that earlier ??

You are a 2010 Stefani Canturi Barbie and God is a mother going through her kid's toys to donate to the Bratz section at goodwill, you are sure of it. There is no way in hell it was coincidence that you ended up in an all-boys school filled with the stupidest people you met otherwise. Perhaps god just assumed you were both dolls so it doesn’t really matter what toy pile you were put in, and you don’t know if that is the biggest compliment you have received— to be compared to cis dudes— or an insult (these men fucking suck).

With all the running around you had to do the first day, no one was able to sniff you out, yet. Still, it didn't last that long, and it didn’t. Deuce was far too kind and dense to really tell what you were, and Grim was Grim. Ace on the other hand almost seemed to side-eye you at times. You tried to ignore it and pray to the goodwill mom that he doesn’t say anything, and surprisingly he didn’t, you got that stupid gem, celebrated, and went over to your crow overlord (who doesn’t even notice your predicament either) to turn it in and go the fuck home. Perhaps the only break you got was the fact that people here spoke a sort of similar language to you even if it was a bit… strange. Whatever, you can think tomorrow, right now you can make yourself comfortable and finally sleep uninterrupted.

And then that fucker from before came to you at one in the morning, after you have unbound yourself and got comfortable begging for you to let him sleep in your bed, strange collar on his neck. “No, Ace. You can make yourself comfortable on the couch.” You crossed your arms over your chest nervously and thankfully the dumbass didn't notice.  “C’mon, c’mon, I’m super skinny! I won’t take up any space!” Ace pleaded. You and Grim looked at each other tiredly then back at Ace. “No.” You said before sighing and heading upstairs. 

“Awwee!! Cmon!!!” “Cry about it.” You sneered, but as you ascended the steps you notice Ace watching you with that look in his eyes from earlier. He knows doesn’t he…

You may not know Trey and Cater well, but you owe them your life. The dumbass trio you were with despite living in this world their whole life could not tell you the most basic shit about it for the life of them. And even worse, despite two of them being selected for this university and one choosing to sneak in with plenty of time to research it beforehand (hell, Ace has a brother who went here), they both decided to go in completely blind and not understand anything at all. 

Thankfully, your dear juniors seemed to take pity on you and actually took time to explain the bare fucking minimum for all four of your sakes. Yet as they explained everything to you in such sweet simplicity, you notice Trey look over to your form that you kept nervously wrapped up in the only oversized overcoat (that all Yuu’s in the manga have) to hide your figure. “Are you alright there Yuu?” He asks and you freeze. 

“Yeah, it's just…” Trey frowned and adjusted his glasses out of concern. “Did Crowley provide any resources for you? It must be difficult being stuck here as a girl and all.” You pause and before you can speak you are interrupted. “YOU’RE WHAT.” The dumbass trio all yelled at once making you, Trey, and Cater all shut your eyes pensively. “Dude! I mean bro— I mean— Ugh!” Ace sputtered, and Deuce looked like he wanted to crawl into a hole and die with how much he was overthinking. Looking over at Trey, the regret on his face was obvious, and you can only assume he thought you told the other three. “You didn’t tell us you're a girl!” Ace yaps.

“I’m not, I’m a guy, I just…” Cater speaks up. “They got the wrong body babes, it's nbd.” The ginger strikes a selfie pose, “That's a thing???” Deuce stared wide-eyed. “Exactly!” You speak up. Trey clears his throat, looking even more ashamed. “Ah, my…. I’m sorry Yuu I didn’t know.” “It’s fine, you didn’t know, plus I guess it was obvious.” At that, the group around you went quiet. 

“Uh no it wasn't ?” Ace crosses his arms. “Have you seen the guys in this school? Some of them straight up look like chicks!” “I thought you knew 'cause you were looking at me weird yesterday!” Ace’s face becomes slightly flustered. “I wasn’t staring—“ Ace stopped his excuse when he saw you and Trey glare. “Okay, fine I was! You happy?” “Why were you staring at them?” Grim asks unimpressed.

Ace gets even more flustered. “It's cause, well you know—“ Cater raises his brows and suppresses a knowing smile and a laugh to the best of his ability as he looks over at you. Ace huffs, “How did you not know Grim? You share a bed with them!” “Haaah? Don't change the subject—“ “Okay that's enough.”

Trey sighs. “Once again, I am very sorry about that Yuu, I thought—“ “It's okay Trey, you didn’t know… But also how did both of you know?” Cater winks, “Oh he’s just like that, babes. Trey-Kun attracts all sorts of fruit to him.” You snort and not how Trey seems to sigh, “Are you one of them?” Cater's eyes widen for a moment before he gives a chuckle. “Good one, but we’ve dealt with enough people in this school to tell by now, though. “So you both just have a gaydar, got it.” “Ooh I like that word, I’ll steal it from ya!” Cater winks again.

“In any case…” Trey adjusts his glasses again. “There's no need to sweat over it. You’ll fit in fine here, Yuu, however, I recommend that you bother Crowley for a spell or potion to get you switched to a new body as soon as possible so this conversation doesn't happen again.” Trey is putting on a brave face to hide his mortification of how he accidentally outed someone. “Crowley can be a real pain sometimes, but he will deliver on that at the very least. Until then you could probably get something from Sam’s for a temporary fix, though they will cost a small fee since they’re home-brewed, or brew your own potion.”

“Oh yeah, you guys have magic here for that stuff… that's crazy…” “Oh yeah, there’s no magic in your world huh Yuu-Kun?” Cater thinks for a moment, “Healthcare here includes that sorta care, but I imagine it’ll be a little difficult to apply for it since you're not from this world and stuff. Kinda hard to do that stuff if you don't exist here, huh?” Cater muses. “Alright, now let's get back to telling them about the dorms Trey!”

“Ah, one more thing, all of you.” Trey’s expression becomes more serious, and gestures to a table where two people— twins with teal hair sit together. “Be careful with Octavinelle students,” he warns, “especially those two. They work for their dorm leader, Azul. They’re scam artists, do not ever make a deal with any of them, especially you, Yuu. Do not tell them what you are.” “Why?” Cater nudges you. “They’ll totally be like ‘We can help you transition Yuu!’ And then your soul is theirs!”

“That’s no different from where I’m from.”

Ace and Deuce were a bit weird with you for the next few hours, before Grim got annoyed with them acting overly cautious and insulted them, which in turn made them all have an annoying argument that you got involved in, in which they treated you like one of the bros. You have to make a note to get Grim the world's most premium tuna for that later. 

And when it came time to grab the tuna, you also had to check out Sam’s potion brewery, where you learned that Sam was a real cool dude. He’s a salesman at the end of the day, always looking for a profit, but at least he was fair. He never overpriced things and always knew how to make a good deal. And though you were prepared to drop nearly your whole allowance on a potion Sam seemed to stop you.

“Hey there little imp! Before you pick one of those out, what form are you lookin’ to take?” You look around for a moment, making sure no one was nearby. “I’m looking for a transitioning potion? I wanna be a dude…” You mutter. Anxiety brews in your gut as Sam leans in, keeping eye contact with you. The salesman then bounces back to his feet in an animated and theatrical manner. “Well, we got those iiiiiinnn STOCK! Lucky for you, we have all sorts to choose from!” Sam says before taking out crate after crate.

“Please, pick that one that calls to you.” You look at the vials nervously before pulling one out of the velvet casing they were carefully placed in. The liquid inside has the consistency of a purple, glittery syrup. “That's a great one!” Sam says. “One small issue though.” Oh god here it comes, by picking up the vial you probably should your soul to him and you're gonna be doomed to work here the rest of your life.

“That's gonna be temporary, little imp! Not good for the long term. The Mystery Shop cannot sell permanent potions for these unless you have a prescription, but my little friends from the other side say that you ain’t from these parts.” Sam smiles. “Take 4, on the house! And drink them all at once, that should give you around 4 and half months in that form!” “Really? Are you sure!” Sam nods, “Course! It's not a loss at all either, I get compensated to give em out anyways! Do be sure to tell Crowley to get you a permanent one though! Or it may be quicker to ask that professor of yours!”

“Thank you Mr.Sam! I’ll keep it in mind.”

Crowley is an asshole, a real bitch, and one of the most annoying people you know. But at least he can be reasonable once in a blue moon. When bringing up needing a potion he merely went on a 30-minute rant on how he’ll get a prescription for you because he’s “oh so generous” and totally not because he’s probably a fruit too like everyone else in this school. 

You expected this process of getting a prescription to be a very annoying and long wait, just for you to receive the paper later allowing it less than an hour later. Sam did say that asking Professor Crewel for a good potion would be better than asking him since he’s certified to make them. Given how extra he is with everything too, you're sure any potion by him would be insane. So here you were, head down and begging that this man help you, one alphabet soup to another. 

“Let me get this straight. You want me to make you a prescription potion for you, rather than get it from Sam’s because you think I would make a better one.” You nod, and Crewel could tell there wasn't any flattery behind your words, you truly believed what you said. “Sam didn’t put you up to this did he?” “I mean he mentioned you could help but that’s it, why is he plotting something?” “He’s been trying to get me to make him a batch of these for ages, saying that he only wants the highest quality products for his customers.” “Seems like I was right to go to you.”

Crewel almost lets out a sigh, before tapping his whip against his palm. “Fine then pup. I’ll give you a private lesson for potionology because you will be taking notes and helping me as well.” “Really?” “Crowley did say there is no record of you existing anywhere. Consider this the pre-lessons you were supposed to learn in high school.”

After an hour of work, you have successfully created three giant bottles of the stuff Crewel guided you to make, and now in your notes, you have the recipe just in case something happens to them. “Listen here.” Crewel commands and you whip your head to him. “Wait until those four months are up on the serum you are on before taking these. Take only 15 milligrams of each a day until you are all out. This way, it’s permanent and you don't have to worry about someone turning you back so easily.” The professor smiles and taps his baton in his other hand.

“Any questions?” “Why am I on the serum then, sir?” “That one prepares your body for a more permanent change, especially if you show any complications with the magic used.” “Got it, sir, that’s all the questions I have.” “Good, now clean your workspace, and go back to your dorm. I expect you to be fully awake in the morning for class.” “Yes, sir” “And I also expect that you will be more responsive than your peers in class because of this.” “Of course, sir.”

Carefully putting the bottles in your bag, and using your jacket as a cushion for each one you braved your way outside nervously. Sam did say that the vials you took will take a while to take effect since your body isn’t used to magic…

The final thing you learned in these past two days was that the misogyny here is very much inclusive, you can't tell if that’s a sign of progress or not. The second you walked out of that door you had your very first instance of bullying (Aside from Ace) since arriving in this world. A few Savanaclaw jocks standing by seemed to immediately look over and snicker.

You stood your ground as they approached, knowing walking away would make it worse and if it got bad Crewel was still in that room. “Tch, you’re the new kid huh?” One said in a very stereotypical stupid school bully way. You’re half surprised they didn’t include some insult like “dweebus” or something. “Hah, bro doesn't even have good pecs, what a fucking girl.” One says. “Never knew they made exceptions for girls!” The other says.

“Uh, yeah, it's gonna take a while for this potion to take effect.” A cat boy scoffs, “What potion.” “The one that’s supposed to make me a boy, it's taking a while.” The group went silent for a moment, the weird wolfman sniffs the air at you for a moment before beckoning his bros to lean in and listen. After a painfully awkward moment, the cat boy leader comes back to lean into your face. “So you are a boy! Big deal! You still don't have pecs!” He says, changing his whole tune. “Yeah well you may be a boy but you're… your…” The fox boy pauses, trying to find a proper insult, just to be interrupted by the wolfman again. “But you fucking suck at being one!”

“YEAH!” All three cheer together as they finally find the right niche to bully you in. Suddenly the door next to you opens. “You three! Silence! Leave them alone, it's curfew! Or do you want me to put you to work?” Crewel reprimands, leaving the three running off with their tails between their legs. “You too Yuu.” And you nod and take it as your sign to leave.

some backstory i fell in love w sumi as soon as her art was revealed i was like omfg peak design PEAKKKKKK i love her so much so i was really excited abt her but i feel like there were so many loose ends w her confidant and namely her crush on protag sometimes doing her a disservice (it turned ppl off from her (understandable bc i also dislike when writers make a female character out to be dependent on a male character) but also made other ppl weird abt her in the same breath....... shivers. people who overly-romanticize/sexualize mentally ill characters (especially girls/women) freak me out sorry

anyway that put me off frm p5 fandom for a hot minute. BUT regardless. i think people often focus on like "shy cute sadgirl kouhai crush-on-protag" for her which on top of atlus's.......mediocre handling of her also does her character a disservice... shes so multilayered!! she houses such insane convoluted levels of distress and fear and anger and reluctance and most of all STUBBORNNESS. i think her headstrong personality is not really emphasized in fandom but i can totally see it (maybe its just me but).

ok moving on to my shsm delusions i think to turn sumire's canon crush on its head i want to make them doomed to never get together. i think 3rd semester is so tense and high-emotion that royal trio are so deeply intertwined w each other:

like they all are mildly-to-a-lot suicidal so they hold onto each other so tightly to make sure none of them spirals and does anything bad. i think in the end they just want the other two to be Okay, even if they themself doesn't. if the other two are ok, then it's all good.

ok back to shsm LMAO i think seeing their relationship as like an odd high-emotion situation makes sense. they love each other, obviously, and provide each other comfort, but the idea of a relationship slips thru their fingers like water. is that right...? is that how it is? like i said up there they just crumble under the weight of their own love. tldr theyre in no place to "date" each other........ but they have their "almost." they're inseparable, they love spending time with each other, but knowing in the back of their heads that it won't last, and they'll have to leave it be one day. "sometimes when i really love someone i leave them alone forever." peak shsm to me. "let's run away together - but what if it's not enough? what if all of this fear and sadness still stays? i take a man down to the river and he throws away his sadness but hes still left with his hands, he's still left with the river (paraphrased richard siken). peak shsm to me. i think they try to treat eachother so softly and gently that it fucks it all up, actually. peak shsm to me. it's not codependency in the sense that theyre not trying to save each other - they're just trying to salvage out some love from it all. all of these terrible things that happened: there's still love, right? there's still love. but the pain can't all be sifted out, and everything still hurts. but they still love. (they just don't date or even talk to each other much after graduating and i think they talk to akechi but to each other its suddenly COMPLICATED. i hate these guys)

ironically i think if you throw akechi in the mix it stabilizes out and i think shuakesumi could totally have a happy married ending. but shsm as a pair i dont see endgame for them. peak for me is that theyre in love and then they spend the rest of their lives trying to forget each other (they don't)

IN REGARDS TO AKESUMI i think my latest 2 comics describe how i feel abt them pretty well!!! link 1 and link 2. actually i think akesumi's friendship is a great way for me to explore how i see/portray/feel about sumire, because i see them as way more similar than the game pays attention to. they're both stuck in their ways: sumire in her cowardice, hiding from the incident and refusing to move on, and akechi entrenched in his own traumas and feeling like he doesn't deserve more than that. their self-hatred manifests in two opposite ways but its very similar at the core. they both like. have no fucking clue what they're doing in terms of handling their pasts so that's why i think them working together to get around their own respective traumas is so fascinating: akechi is terrible at it, pushing sumire too far, but at the same time that perspective is something that she needs. meanwhile, her sensitive and observant personality shows akechi that like, you can have This too: a soft, good love. to have someone care about you unconditionally, so gently. you deserve that, too. yeah i can explode my head off now

I think they made it to Jackson and are fucking all the time in their shared home that they are the reason Ellie had to move to the garage because she had walked in on them too many times 🙃

I think about my characters whereabouts after I finish stories so I was just curious what your thoughts were on your beautiful babies

this is such a lovely surprise question, thank you 🥺💖 i don't get asked about one thing i'm missing very much (understandably cause it's my first joel fic and i finished it relatively quickly) so whenever someone does ask about it i get so excited!!! cause i love them!!!!

in my mind, our little trio made it to the fireflies and things went down relatively the same as in canon, except this time reader was present. i think joel began his rampage in search of both ellie AND reader, the latter of which he met up with after he'd already killed multiple people. i think in that moment she realized there was no other option and helped him take out the remaining fireflies and rescue ellie.

however - i think reader was honest with ellie. joel wanted to lie and reader could not and would not let him do that. she told ellie exactly what happened and in turn ellie stopped speaking to both of them the second they got to jackson. so still not an ideal scenario but at least joel and reader had each other to lean on. i think ellie would've forgiven them a lot sooner and a lot easier than in canon, mainly because of reader's persistence & ability to communicate properly with ellie (yes that's a dig at joel lmao). but the time in between of joel feeling like he'd lost another daughter and reader feeling like she'd lost another sister was extremely hard.

these things were actually meant to happen in a 6th chapter but every time i went to write it, it just felt like i was turning a sweet little story into something much more serious and dark than i'd intended. even writing an epilogue felt like it was saddening the story and i didn't like that because i like the story being on the lighter and fluffier side. but getting to the fireflies was always the goal and it was inevitable that ellie would be taken from them and they'd have to fight back and then live with what they'd done, and live with ellie's feelings about it.

but on a MUCH happier note - they're for sure fucking all the time. they're each others rock and most nights after they got to jackson and had their own place were spent exploring each other and discovering what they both liked. lots and lots of late nights and lazy mornings and falling deeper and deeper in love with each other. i think once ellie came around and was able to understand and accept what happened, she tried to live in the house briefly and then decided pretty quickly that it was not what she wanted lmao. but she likes her independence anyway.

OH - and joel does not die. yes they killed the fireflies but in my brain, the events that happen in the second game (and most likely in season 2) happen much differently in that joel was simply not on patrol the night abby and her group came across them. he was at home with reader, safe 💖

my url is from ‘sol lucet omnibus’, a latin phrase that means the sun shines for everyone. a lot of my urls & usernames and whatnot are sun themed, so this is just another in a long line. for a while it was ‘solclaw’ while i was in a werewolf phase. but i dont plan to change it again

ahhh…. the secret come out. i guess? i have two sideblogs. @jinjjayo is my kpop sideblog, which i have not advertised having so far but does exist. i also have @solref, which is just where i collect tutorials & other reference stuff.

it is currently this set of the 3wbf trio doing their puzzle piece hugs, at just over 1000 notes. 🥺 im happy they deserve it

hi yes ofc i would love to!! i did in fact talk about it ages ago but i am always happy to say more and u picked a great time to ask bc i've been reworking all of the vb au tats so this isn't just a repeat of my previous post about it (except i never finished my official redesign of kurt's sleeve yet so i can't actually show u my reference)

for his sleeve i went the floral route with flowers that represent the most important relationships in his life, so it's intertwined ivy leaves and forget-me-nots wrapping around his arm (whether or not they actually look like the flowers they're supposed to be is a whole other thing lmao i think i get sloppier the more i draw them)

ivy symbolises fidelity, marriage and friendship - obviously u have to ignore the marriage part here bc this one is for finn and santana (furtana best friends and siblings fr <3)

forget-me-nots symbolise true love and respect, as well as the promise that u will always keep someone in ur thoughts - i always see this one as being primarily for his mom, but i think it probably does eventually extend to the entire hudmelpez clan

i also originally gave him a lil sun on his forearm for burt as a lil nod to you are the sunshine of my life gcv, which is kinda visible in some of the older drawings that have his tattoo but. i recently realised that i chose a really stupid placement for it so im gonna move the sun to his shoulder once i actually update my reference sheets. that being said i am realising right now that i still included the sun on his forearm in yesterday's post and that's devastating to me personally so pls pretend it's not there

i think that things are extremely tense between furtana during the earlier stages of burt and carole's relationship (especially between kurt and the other 2) (not gonna really get into this rn bc it's not super relevant lol) so to me they do end up connecting over music and it remains a really important common interest for them over time despite their different tastes (in the sense that like. idk i think as duos they have more interests in common but as a trio they probably don't so music is a big thing for them) (i wish i could articulate this better but hopefully u get it) etc etc so. had to sit down and imagine what each of them drawing an eigth note would look like based on their handwriting (as one does i guess?) and then i figured it would be neat if they each had all 3 notes instead of just the one they drew so. matching tats for the siblings :)

he was a flautist and plays piano like it's a woodwind. it's soft and technical and so so beautiful.

thelonious monk plays like you've just heard. he is a weird-ass pianist. he plays… wholly uniquely? it's ragtime based i hear. he may have invented bebop (the most popular and enduring jazz idiom). even if that's not the whole truth, he's why jazz uses 9th chords so much. he used to hang out at a bar with charlie parker and dizzy gillespie and he was better than any other pianist that would come to try and play. he's probably the most-covered jazz musician because he wrote so many good songs. his music is also Singular, and people hated it. miles davis (the famousest) was KNOWN for hating his playing. you can hear on bags' groove, miles told him to never play (the pianist's role is harmony under the solo) while miles was playing.

every time someone else plays a monk song, it's kind of apologetic. like, well yeah it's a beautiful composition, but i wish it weren't so bizarre with those weird plunky notes and wholetone scales. we're just going to play the melody, because THAT'S beautiful. it always feels a little like theft.

This is the timelines I'm mulling over right now. Neither of which makes sense of Red's 96 shirt lmao.

All of this kinda came about when I was thinking about Blue btw, so blame him for my spiraling.

Really the most that has changed is 1) pushing back the dates of the earlier arcs, which causes a different jab between HGSS/BW ( 4 years for timeline 1, 5 years for timeline 2) XY no longer sharing a year with B2W2. I felt it would make things flow better, and track the whereabouts of Colress better too.

The biggest grips for both timeline is the Kanto trio's ages in b2w2. Red and Blue would be 20 in timeline one and 21 in timeline 2, with green being a year younger than that. And I dunno about you but the Kanto trio bring adults during this time was always kinda weird to me? Yes, I know, the game essentially used their old spirites as they did with everyone else and some logic of the pwt doesn't fully make sense ( like why tf is Giovanni there). But I always got the vibe they would be in their teens? At least in their later teens. But them already being in their 20's is somewhat weird to be.

On a similar note, Kiran would be 20 or 21 depending on the timeline when he gets isekiad ( which is around SM), and again, I don't know why, but that feels weird. Especially when I made pretty much all the main cast adults. Tbh, Kiran was only 19 before, so he was technically an adult too, but I reaaaally looked at the " he's still a teen!" angle so. Maybe it's not weird maybe it's just me lmao.

I must reiterate how blue was the cause of this downward spiral. I was thinking about him post HGSS and what he would be going and I realized how. Quick things go from b2w2 to SM. They were 2 years apart but I couldn't help but feel that wasn't enough time? Part of me wanted him to go to college but again, I didn't know if that was possible. Of course, be doesn't have to go to college, but overall I just felt there needed to be more space and the 10 year gap between the kanto games to the Alola ones suddenly felt small. To me anyway. Sooo yeah. I'm pretty much trying to get my thoughts out here. Also both timelines make the early game ocs older than they already are, but later ones ( minus the Kalos gang) are pretty much the same.

The BIGGEST downside of making a new timeline is having to redo. Every. Timeline related. Bullshit I made over the past how many years for characters. Fuck me specifically. " Oh but you don't have to -" Oh I'm gonna.

AH! hello! It has been days!

I have so many ideas I haven't done anything with yet lmao, but here's one I haven't shared yet!!

An au that takes place in the dsmp canon titled Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil.

Basically I wanted to write a fic with a deaf Tubbo, blind Ranboo, and mute Tommy. Tubbo would be deaf from the Red Festival onward, Ranboo has slowly been going blind his whole life from his tears. Tommy only goes mute after exile.

I've spent a lot of time thinking about the logistics and what that type of thing would change (I'm partially blind and love projecting <3)

Post Red Festival Tommy learns sign language along with Tubbo, and he would translate for him when other people didn't sign or if Tubbo couldn't keep up reading lips. One of the things Tubbo misses the most is the sound of Tommy's laugh, but it helps that he can see the way Tommy cackles. When Ranboo joins the server, Tommy briefly serves as the main translator for the two of them, because Ranboo has a really hard time learning signs when he can't really see them, and he can't write very well. (in this, instead of a memory book, he has a tape recorder!)

When Tommy is exiled, his absence is felt as a friend and as their translator. Ranboo works hard to write better, sometimes the lines trail off or overlap, but he practices working as Tubbo's minutes man, which is even more important in this au because even though Quackity is okay at signing, when things get heated people forget and Tubbo has an even harder time keeping control as president, so he needs those notes for reference, but there's also an extra dose of tenderness between Ranboo and Tubbo, as even though there's this slight disconnect they try so hard to understand one another.

When Tommy returns, when there's the community house fight, immediately everyone knows there's something seriously wrong. Before, at their first meeting, Tommy could sign his irritation and Tubbo didn't question it, but once it gets to the community house, everyone knows there's something wrong with Tommy, because even when he signed, he was ALWAYS loud. But even as he's told he has to defend himself, to plead his case with all these people watching him, he doesn't say a word. He signs, but only so many people can understand him.

AND! Tubbo and Tommy's fight. They would be incapable of fighting and talking at the same time, they'd need to have their hands free to sign, so what do they choose? Violence or communication? Maybe in the end they want to tell the other that they were hurt more than they wanted to hurt each other, y'know?

In the aftermath, after doomsday, the three of them end up sort of joined together by this need to help each other talk. Like. Tubbo always voices Tommy’s signs aloud for Ranboo, and Tommy will sign what Ranboo says in case Tubbo can't read his lips (which, sometimes he feels nervous about reading Ranboo's lips because he doesn't want to stray too close to eye contact and make Ranboo uncomfortable) The three of them communicate best when they're all together. When it's just Ranboo and Tubbo, Ranboo tries to write stuff down best he can. When it's just Ranboo and Tommy, Tommy will trace letters onto Ranboo's palm. Eventually, Ranboo gets a text-to-speech function on his comm, so Tommy can type out things and then Ranboo can hear them. Tommy and Tubbo do pretty well talking just the two of them, they sign. But Tubbo notices Tommy doesn't laugh like he used to, and sometimes before when they were sitting beside one another, Tommy would talk loud enough Tubbo could feel the vibrations in his chest, but that doesn't happen anymore.

If the three of them have some trouble communicating with each other, the rest of the server is worse. Even if it's not a literal communication problem, Bench Trio understand each other in a way others just can't.

Just, following the path of canon, there are so many other things this could bleed into. Beeduo divorce, Wilbur's revival, doomsday was so much Techno and Tommy shouting back and forth at each other, so what happens instead? Does Ranboo feel safe moving out to the arctic, where the blinding white snow makes what little vision he has left absolutely useless? Tubbo's presidency is a hundred times more isolating because without Tommy, he realizes how much he relied on him to translate.

So, yeah. :') been thinking about this one for literal years lmao.

being that size has not traditionally fit any archetypes.

lil side note but I went to school for acting, my class was all cis women and our professor was a middle aged man bc you know, school. and he did this exercise where each of us would stand on stage and the rest of the group would typecast the person. on paper yeah could be useful but really it was just about judging each others’ bodies right.

so I was always a “character” type (not like a lead ingenue or love interest) and sometimes it could be a sexy character or a desirable character, but usually it was a Mother or a Queen or some other older and/or authoritative role bc being tall and not having a willowy build meant I couldn’t be a love interest objectively. and if it was a sexy character it was also a comedic character or a “bimbo”

(side side note my best friend then and still a good friend now was the classic ingenue type, and we were always lowkey being pitted against each other and only realized it in the past few years being out of that environment. and she would get comments, again from faculty, that she was too thin so ya know. we love womanhood.)

okay but anyway I promise I’m getting back to Charlotte here

seeing a tall girl with even a slightly bigger build than the usual main girl aesthetic was is huge, bc for all the ways the writing failed her, Charlotte is still a love interest. we know she won’t get the guy, but Lewis and Cleo and the audience at least see her as a potential romantic partner and it’s not a joke that she likes Lewis bc she’s frumpy and unattractive and taller than him.

she’s very powerful. she’s a mermaid. she’s intellectual and she’s a theatre kid, and it’s just a facet of her character, not in service of making her dorky.

I don’t mind that she’s a villain. what really bothers me the most, personally, about what was done to Charlotte is that she wants to be accepted by this group of very traditionally hot, skinny 2000s girlies and is bullied and excluded by them at every turn. that is my supervillain origin story lol.

so if they just went all the way and made her a bitch (affectionate) from the very beginning and she was a true supervillain, I would take that in stride. it also makes sense that the trio would have some resistance or insecurity about letting a new person into their group and that’s a pretty sincere conflict.

but instead of exploring that they just created a very grounded in reality lady that I really felt for bc she was meeee, gave her all these great traits that characters like that never got, and then made her othered in a way that was way too true to life without commenting on it at all.

OT 2023 - GALA 1

We're back aaaaaa !!!! Anyways, just as I did with OT 2020, I will be talking about my top 3 favourite performances every week, as well as some honourable mentions. These posts will work a bit different than the OT 2020 ones tho, cause now the show is exclusively streamed in Prime Video, which means they do not upload the full performances to youtube, only 40 second clips. So, what I will do is link those clips in the honorable mentions and in the titles of my top 3, but I will include the full videos for the pases de micros. For the uninitiated, there are two pases de micros during the weeks; these are performances in the academy in front of the teachers that measure how they are doing and what things they should improve and stuff. Normally I will be posting the second one, cause those are usually best.

Anyways, let's start with some honorable mentions <3

Libertad - OT 2020: The first group song! I would say it was a perfect choice, this song really is perfect as a group song, and they sounded pretty good I think (except Suzette who didn't say her lines

Save your tears - Cris and Ruslana: They were good enough I would say! I thought they sounded good, and I really liked the scenography and such. Good performance 👍.

3. EL ENCUENTRO - PAUL & CHIARA

When I tell you I gasped when they gave them this song... El Encuentro is one of those songs that make me go feral, it's incredible and a bop and I've experienced it live (with both Amaia AND Alizzz !!!) and it's soooo good I love the feeling it expresses and the way it expresses it and yeah.... I'm so happy they got to sing it. I would say Chiara and Paul were perfect for it, they sounded so freaking good and I loved the acting (which becomes even better now that we know Paul has a crush on Chiara sjdsjdj). Also Paul !!! he was the favourite of the gala (SO DESERVED) and he's one of my faves so yeah :) loved this :)

2. PARA NO VERTE MÁS - ÁLVARO & NAIARA

Álvaro and Naiara, my favourite twink and choni duo... They're so iconic... Anyways, they had imo the hardest song to defend (not the most difficult but the most 'nominable' one) and they took a glance at that and said 'no thank you <3'. They were great, ate and left no crumbs, made it so so fun !!! They're the best, also Naiara has such a beautiful voice, possibly my favourite this edition.

1. A TU VERA - SALMA & JUANJO

Here is the original, by the one and only Lola Flores (La Faraona!!!!!!!!)

THIS SONG. OF COURSE THIS WAS GOING TO BE NUMBER ONE. They were the best ones in the gala by far, and they deserved to shine so much, they worked so hard and had such a lovely connection and friendship, they're everything to me <3 Salma and Juanjo are rapidly becoming my favourites and I want to see them in other styles cause they're both folklore singers (Salma with flamenco and Juanjo with jotas) so this song was made for them. Even then, again, this performance was perfect, no notes.

And that was all! Overall, an average gala? I mean, it was the first one, my expectations weren't too high lol. Let's see what next week brings us, with two trios and both an Ana Mena AND a La La Love You song !!!! The nominees are Suzette and Lucas, and I'm not really rooting for any of them in particular, so I have no idea how it'll be go. Nevertheless, I am back hooked to OT, it was so quick lmao.

ok i literally was just planning out my own music au as well and oh my god this is the most comprehensive au i have seen holy shit. i seriously need to know more about the rest of the cast and how they fit in (bittysfoodbaby)

hi! i’m so sorry this took me *checks notes* two months and some days to answer. i don’t really have a reason besides school got the best of me and somehow i still feel like it should be valentine’s day, not the first week of may. omg.

anyway!! to make up for it i've pulled everyone i possibly could into this, because i like to flesh out alternate universes as much as possible, even if the character never makes an appearance:

(i already have a post/primer on jack and bitty in this au here! and here’s the other ask if you need a refresher)

shitty — shitty plays the viola, and it's solely because it's the instrument his father wanted him to play the least. the other country club fellows’ kids played the violin or the cello. shitty didn’t want none of that. (a small part of him loves the viola too, he just never says so)

lardo — percussionist. i just get strong mallet vibes from her, but i feel she wouldn’t limit herself to just the mallets either. she's not in the Founders ensemble or in the small group with everyone because she's not a string player, but she does live at the Haus, which is exactly the same as it is canonically except there's miscellaneous instruments and rosin and sheet music laying around everywhere on top of empty beer bottles and a lingering smell of dirty clothes/sweat

ransom — the cello. i feel it’s an obvious choice because he’s a d-man, and to me, the cello seems the most equivalent given it’s low voice that really supports the rest of the ensemble.

holster — cello (see above) but also for their small group, he plays the double bass. to be different.

as for how they fit in, ransom and holster complete the small group-slash-string quintet! so it goes bitty and jack on violins, shitty on viola, ransom on cello, and holster either on cello or double bass depending on what’s needed. i’m still figuring out the kinks on how they all meet since they’re not on a hockey team, so i can’t get you that far, but they are all the same ages/same personalities/same group dynamics etc etc

for the rest:

nursey / dex — see ransom’s explanation (can you tell i view d-men as cellists lmao). also they’re stand partners. that is not up for debate whatsoever

chowder — now he’s a tough one to pinpoint. i want to say percussionist since he’s a goalie (idk about anyone else, but in every ensemble i’ve been in, the percussionists had major goalie personalities. and ofc lardo is excluded from this parallel) but i also get very strong flute vibes too. this is in part because the flute is a very whimsical instrument and chowder is a very whimsical guy, and also because it just feels right when i picture it. so my tentative answer is the flute, but it’s still very much up for debate

whiskey — ideally he’s a trumpet player through and through. however, for the plot, he’s a clarinet player (i.e. the tadpole woodwind trio)

tango — bassoon. again it’s for the trio, but also bassoons to me are just so inquisitive. i can’t tell you why though

ford — flute and it’s again for the tadpole woodwind trio. also i went to school with a flute player who was also a huge theater lover, so it fits

kent — violin. he’s still jack’s ex-best-friend-slash-ex-boyfriend and they still have their fallout. but they also had planned to audition for julliard on the same day, like the nhl draft in canon, and as such kent does get into julliard and ends up becoming the concertmaster (principal violin) of the new york philharmonic

tater — double bass. yes, i said i think all d-men play the cello, but not tater. he takes it to another level. his height and wingspan makes the double bass cello-sized though so it checks out still. also he’s kent’s too-serious fwb

camilla — she gives me saxophone vibes. like jazz vibes (half of the saxophones in my school band played tennis btw)
