I fell down the stairs a few hours ago. Was scared out of my mind. So here is Kyle soothing you when hurting yourself, because you deserve it, love <3 (and I love Kyle "Gaz" Garrick)
He is there, the minute he hears the polters. He rushes you in his arms and just holds you, when you shake and sob in his arms. After you've calmed a bit, he makes you stand up and checks you for bruises. Lifts up your shirt and gently pushes into the redness on your lower back. Then checks your hands and fingers, moves them to see if they are broken. When he finds no threatening wounds, just adrenaline shaking your body, he kisses your forehead and leads you to the bedroom. Making you lay down and leaves for a few minutes.
He comes back with a hot water bottle, your favorite tea and your phone. Kyle then lays with you in the bed, puts on your comfort movie and holds the warm bottle to your bruising.
Thank you for reading. <3 I hope you have a lovely day.

If I were to ever write an angsty fic about my beloved Jackie:
-lots more depth and angst about what goes on in her home. Maybe Pam being passed out 24/7 and Jackie’s father physically rarely being there and when he’s there, he’s emotionally unavailable
-adding on with Pam, she’d be a lot more problematic- constantly making comments about Jackie’s “flaws” and trying to get with Kelso and maybe even Hyde when Jackie is dating them
-Jackie’s need to be perfect would be examined a whole lot more and she wouldn’t lose her love to be academically gifted- even go as far as being valedictorian for her class or for more drama be tied with someone on the cheer squad for it
-Pam Macy would be one of few main antagonists that is shown more frequently
-Kelso and Jackie’s breakup would be a lot crueler
-I do believe Jackie has some eating disorder and it’s pretty much canonly proven so that would get further examined
-her friendships and relationships in general would be wayyyyy more angsty. Her cheer team would be a lot more cruel to her
-Hyde and Jackie would have a better enemies to lovers arc (maybe, it’s pretty good now)- there would be more scenes of just the two of them together and how they build their relationship

With the the Tournament of Sources coming up I want to talk about the Tournament of Elements
Mainly that I think it's weird Chen didn't broadcast it all to the mainland Ninjago
Like I get it was for him
But I feel like he would get extra glee by tormenting the people of Ninjago with it
Especially if he took over every television channel
I could see him posing as the host too instead of the organizer and just say he was invited to host it and it looked like fun
Only Garmadon and those serving Chen would know the truth
Sire the ninja would believe Garmadon
But would the public?
Idk just Chen's whole thing is putting on a show and how he enjoys manipulating people and having a captive audience like that
And they have no choice?
It just seems more like his thing you know?
I think if I were to write a movie verse tournament of elements I would have him do that kind of stuff but I also wouldn't have had Lloyd reveal himself to everyone just to add that extra edge of the ninja having to be hyper vigilant of the cameras

How I would make a Mortal Kombat movie
Tumblr media
First of all, I would take a similar approach to the 1995 original as well as the flicks that inspired it, mainly Enter the Dragon and Bloodsport. I would indeed make it a tournament movie.
I would also go all out and make it R rated complete with fatalities and gore, but that's a given, especially since we live in a world where Deadpool & Wolverine makes millions (not to mention Logan and the first two DP flicks).
This goes without saying, but Liu Kang has to be the main hero. Not Scorpion, not Johnny Cage, not some crappy OC that nobody cares about (*cough* Cole Young), the main character of the franchise is Liu Kang, and these newer movies and stories should treat him as such.
And if folks find him "bland" or "uninteresting", then you can still make him into a likable hero with a personality and an arc worth speaking of. Robin Shou did this very well in the 1995 movie, so why not base him off that version.
I would also have a huge emphasis on his relationships with Kung Lao and Sonya Blade. I know that Kitana is his canon love interest, but I don't like the CageBlade relationship, and I want Kitana to grow on her own without relying on Liu Kang to save her (I wouldn't even give Kitana a love interest). So yeah, I would go with KangBlade.
The general story would be that Liu Kang and Kung Lao are invited to the tournament. Kung Lao wants to honor their ancestor, but Liu Kang wants revenge for his family. The whole thing would culminate with Liu Kang killing Goro to become the champion, and him beating Shang Tsung.
Beyond those things? It would be a straightforward Martial Arts Fantasy flick with some elements of Horror thanks to the gore and dark atmosphere. It definitely would be darker and less goofier than say the MCU, or even other MK movies, though it still needs a sense of fun to it.
Throw in some badass fight scenes, give it a decent budget with some nice costumes, locations and special effects, and you are guaranteed to have not just the best MK movie since 1995, but also one of the best video game movies ever made.
That's all, folks.

Birdhouse (2021)
(warning- my birdhouse might be cursed?) WILD- I've been trying to post this for two days and for some reason the og copies of this thing wouldn't post. I contacted customer support, did all their things, and the works. I couldn't get proper screen caps of this bug occurring, and when I took a screen recording it was too big to send on gmail. Today, I wanted to just see if I can post (any) photo- and I can. Just, NOT the originals of this birdhouse. Why does tumblr hate my birdhouse? (Rhetorical) Lol! To solve this issue, I took a screenshot of my picture and then used the photo editor app I use for watermarking (Collage Maker) to crop it. Then, it posted just fine.
So anyway what I've been unable to say the last few days about this piece is: I painted this and I don't think it'll ever feel finished. Plenty of loved ones have told me it's perfectly sellable the way it is but, ultimately if I had the money and space to work on this, there's one of two things I'd like to do with it.
Attach a metal/chain decorated loop to top for easy hanging, widen the hole a little, and add decorative dangle-ies to the bottom for flare✨ (Light catchers or tiny soft bells.)
Sculpt residents for the porch/hole/window, and add interior tea/LED lights, making it an interior decorative piece.
Maybe this will sit in my "in stock" crate long enough that I can do one of those things, or maybe I will acquire more bird houses later, when I can afford to fund my projects. (Then, I could do both.)

Alright, I’ve been having this thought lately and I just want to get it out there.
So this is all about Scooby Doo, in particular about how to make a good Scooby Doo show.
In my opinion Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated is the best Scooby Doo series of all time, so this is what producers or who ever is in charge should do if they want to top it.
1. They need an overarching plot for the show, no episodical narrative. I want a mystery that doesn’t get solved in one episode, something that drives the gang further and pushes them. And it would be even better if that after that mystery is solved an even bigger mystery is revealed to drive them on, like when mister E was revealed it just opened even more questions and deeper mysteries.
2. The show has to be set in the rough time of the 1970’s -90’s. The concept of the gang doing what they do is ridiculous in the modern age of technology, but back then it wasn’t as prevalent, making the concept more believable and interesting. Seeing Velma hack into security cameras to figure stuff out in the first few minutes would be boring. And if the show was set in the modern age watchers would question why she didn’t do that. I know it would be just a cartoon, but we have entered an age where these shows actually respect their audiences’s intelligence if they’re any good.
3. They need to make the gang have a defined reason for doing what they do, not just the ‘it’s fun’ excuse. They need a definitive explanation for why they do what they do and why they’re trying to solve the overarching mystery of the story.
4. They need to acknowledge the bravery of Scooby and Shaggy. They can’t just be characterized as cowards the whole show. As many have said bravery is not facing something without fear, it’s having that fear, acknowledging it and doing the thing anyway in spite of the fear. Scooby and Shaggy fit this to a T and I feel a good Scooby Doo show needs to acknowledge that.
5. They need the Hex Girls and other cool side characters. They make the world feel alive and like the world is ever changing. I also think they need to show how the gang knows all the side characters, flesh out the story. Another thing that is relevant to this point, I want old villains that the gang took down to show up again. Some will be in prison and the gang will have to visit them for information, others will be reformed or in the process of being reformed and they will willingly help the gang, maybe even apologize. Make the characters real, and not just the main characters. I want relatable villains and heroes.
6. Finally, I want real supernatural elements in the world that the gang slowly discovers, while not forgetting the non supernatural villains. I want to have one episode where the gang has to find and defeat a real ghost, and then the next villain they reveal that the fish monster was really a disgruntled fisherman or something. I just think that a cool balance would make the show better.
Well that was my rant, I hope at least one person likes this. Thanks for reading if you made it this far!

If you could fix Trigun Stampede or write an alternate version of it that stays truer and more faithful to the 98 anime and the manga, not just visually but emotionally, philosophical and symbolically, how would you? Given how your in depth analyses and in general reading it to filth, I would love to know how you would fix it or rewrite it!
Hello and thanks for the question!
Sorry for the slow response, I've been busy and distracted by other shiny objects (Kekkai Sensen) to get back to this. I still haven't had time to really answer another ask but I hope to get to it in a week or so. As far as Trigun Stampede, I felt it had issues in the following areas: 1.) Technical skill surpassed all other aspects of the production. They put all their eggs in making it look very good. Which it does. I found out from the Sakuracon panel, that they spent two years working on animating the faces. Kudos for that level of work but if you write a poor story it doesn't matter how emotional they look. 2.) Paradoxical pacing. Twelve episodes were not enough to capture the original Trigun manga nor '98 anime. The '98 anime added establishing content to extend the limited manga chapters which helped to give the viewers Meryl as their entry point. It also had great pacing. Intro, build up, tension and resolution either in each episode or in two part episodes.
3.) Total emphasis of style over substance. This was the the worst part of it. They assumed making things look pretty would suffice and did not write individual episodes well or the full twelve. And since they were only working with twelve the story did not have time to just be and let us enter the world because of the paradoxical pacing. 4.) Generic character designs for the contemporary eye. In their attempt to make the characters look more 'normal' they lost the unique style of Yasuhiro Nightow's original designs. His characters are exceptionally stylized in a distinct way and they completely redid them. We also know that other studios can adapt his characters much more like in the original work both with the '98 anime and Kekkai Sensen. Madhouse and Bones anime-stylized the characters a bit for anime but not by that much compared to what Orange did. Milly is still large and clumsy in the anime, while Vash is super contorted at times. Wolfwood is still angular and Meryl still has that soft short stature. In KS, Klaus is still a giant gentleman, Leo is still dodging chaos, Chain is cool and distant, K. K. still has her confident stride, and Steven's posture is still terrible. I can watch the '98 anime and Kekkai Sensen and know that these characters were designed by Nightow. Looking at Stampede, I cannot tell by looking at them.
5.) Weak characters. Another point the Sakuracon panel noted was that the creative team spent five years developing Stampede. I can't help but feel like they wasted their energy. They came up with all this lore and information for their own version of No Mans Land - and then never tied it together. Studio Orange got lost in the weeds and never really figured out what they wanted to make or say. They also relied on characters info dumping and blatantly telling us what they are doing. That is not how Trigun or Kekkai Sensen work as stories. It is up to you to figure out what the characters are doing, why they are doing it and how to interpret their actions.
The characters were unclear in their motivations, there was no intro, mystery or payoff. After twelve episodes in, we still don't know what Rem told Vash that he has his technical pacifist philosophy. We know she told them that she loved them and she was happy to know them and that they should take care of each other. But why was Rem with Project Seeds? Why did she believe all life was sacred? Why was your ticket to the future blank?
Vash was far to passive but never said why and was not a gunslinger. Which was pretty much key to his skill and why he was infamous. Even before the July incident he was an excellent gunslinger and Western drifter. Wolfwood was meh, his natural people skills from the manga were completely gone. He was not only a trained killer but he was a natural people person and tried to be compassionate when possible. Meryl was two years older than in the manga/'98 anime and far less experienced. Yes, she was smart and by the book but so weak. Roberto was useless. He did not serve the plot. How would I have done Stampede? 1.) Trigun Maximum emphasis. Incorporate more of the manga into the anime, but cutting out some of the wandering chapters which did not serve the plot other than for some hard to follow action scenes. They lifted some elements from Maximum, but parts I was never a fan of e.g. the late introduction of the fact that Wolfwood was likely in his early 20s but will be debated until the end since his own backstories and timelines in the manga are inconsistent. My point is that Wolfwood's timeline is a hot mess.
Instead, they could have streamlined some of the fuzzy hand waving science and odd timelines for characters like Wolfwood and Livio. What they did was lean in hard to the rapidly aging aspect of things so as far as I can tell, Wolfwood is like 13 in Stampede?
They added in Elendira the Crimsonnail but made her a child who manifests nails from the air. Um, sure. If she is a she at all or genderless or nonbinary. The point is, she is not an adult trans woman with excellent fashion taste.
Added in the missing civilians from the original work. As others have commented, Stampede is a very empty world. There are no normal people. The entire point was that there were lots of normal people living their lives on the planet. They are completely absent. There are barely any civilians to protect since they aren't there. The design of the cities and towns for this were also weak. Yes, they needed plants, but most of the cities grew around the ships and dwarfed them. December was a full city with a downtown, high rise buildings and public transit. Stampede is just a weird tribute to Dune or something like that.
There was the potential to take the original anime, add in the key points of Maximum and it would have been an awesome anime.
2.) Had a clear story line for all twelve episodes and then for each individual episode. The storytelling for Stampede was an utter disaster. The terrible pacing, the inability to show characters through their actions, their lack of rational thoughts from time to time. The bad science; e.g. a town with only windmills but no solar panels. No knowledge of plants and photosynthesis? What the hell were these people eating? Apparently, they came up with worm related lore in their brainstorming sessions, but if you DON'T put that in the actual anime, we won't know that.
Too many things were like "Oh wow, look perfect timing! Always!" Dude, no. Part of the original was how timing wasn't perfect and characters slogged around for months trying to reconnect.
I think Vash being a little more upfront about his rationale to try to avoid violence would help and if he did it with his gun like in the originals. It makes his skill even better and more appreciated and highlights how he does not shoot to kill. Even though this series started with the backstory with him and Knives, Rem's moral code was not outlined. Thus, we don't know why Vash does what he does due to Rem and her influence on him.
Wolfwood was terrible, lacking all of his charm, personable attitude and willingness to sacrifice and be critical. He just comes off as a dick. Honestly, all they needed to do was make him more friendly and call out Vash for faking it like in the original. Meryl would have been better like her original with more experience and Milly as her junior. Nightow writes excellent female characters who aren't uwu/waifu types. They are women who are competent, have strengths and flaws and hopes and dreams. They are not there for you to dream about them fawning over you and acting on your every beck and call. Instead, they likely could kill you. Or at least really hurt you. They are not sexualized, nor fan service. They are just women and the men are just men. I'm not saying they aren't attractive - Meryl is still cute, Milly is dapper, Chain is curvy, K. K. is fashionable. But that isn't the defining aspect of their characters.
3.) Kept the character designs closer to the originals. In a saturated media landscape where so many anime look the same and generic, the style of the original would have stood out. Keep that lanky angular style of the original. Have those dramatic poses which showed so much about each character. I mean, they could have updated them and ditched the '90s eyes through chunky hair bit. Also, by changing Wolfwood from being a priest/preacher much of his internal moral conflict is lost. Along with the jokes which were classics by this point. With so many people not knowing the original, the jokes would have been unknown and fresh to newer viewers.
4.) Made the series 24 episodes with 12 per season. This really would have helped the series out big time. Instead of the oft critiqued terrible pacing, do what so many other series do now; split up what used to be a single season into two parts. It would have allowed for more downtime, lingering shots, characterization through interactions with the normal people. Vash playing with children. Eating donuts. Pancakes. Wolfwood giving up his food. Meryl writing reports and trying to be emotionally distant. Milly helping Wolfwood in a fight. Many of the micro-moments of characters were lost, but these help us to understand them and how they will react through very basic set up. Madhouse did not have a blockbuster budget for Trigun but it didn't matter when they set the tone up right.
They had too many blink and you will miss it moments. The this is not a problem with manga since you look at each panel individually. The original anime allowed for much better establishing shots as well as lingering on things to make it clear what that thing was. Kuroneko-sama is obvious in all the episodes, in the OP and ED and nyas (she has an entire track of 'nya' on the second donuts OST). Well, I would have made sure she does that in Stampede. I don't want it to be some sort of cryptid moment in the corner of the screen. Especially, since Kuroneko-sama still appears in the KS extras even bonding with Steven. Oh, yeah, and all the time in the KS anime; on the street in Hellsalem's Lot. Crossing the street in HL. With a monster jar stuck on her head that crashes into Leo. In the ED of B3 & Beyond.
Sure, Studio Orange put Sonic in there but the level of Kuroneko-sama in KS is much higher than KS in Stampede.
A longer series would have also allowed for more of the humor to come through. Trigun has ample slapstick/zany/situational humor that was lost in Stampede. Stampede took itself too seriously. Due to that, they never could turn off the serious mode. But even tough situations elicit humor. In the manga, Wolfwood explains how he doesn't die to Vash more or less but lays down to sleep. Vash then has a full on panic and Wolfwood is beyond pissed - since he's just trying to sleep. Even when Wolfwood is about to die, he cracks a joke with Vash in the manga.
Nightow clearly has a dark and sarcastic sense of humor at times. That could have come through in it and it was lost - to be serious. It is natural for people to crack jokes in absolutely terrible situations and Nightow loves to do this. If the Kekkai Sensen anime took out all of the sarcastic/dry/quips of the cast it would be so terrible. That is what happened to Stampede. They went full on serious sci-fi but forgot about the plot, characters and motivations.
5.) Included the strong religious undertone. Correctly. Much of the Christian and Buddhist themes were lost in Stampede. Why does Vash cling to an impossible ideal/moral code? The role of suffering and turning that other cheek. The creepy accurate angel designs for the plants. How Vash and Knives were of a virgin birth of angelic beings with one falling from grace. The oodles of Catholic guilt that trapped Wolfwood and Vash. But trapped Wolfwood more. Why do people have different lines they can and cannot cross? What is right? What is justice?
All we got in Stampede were crosses mixed with a zia (perhaps) and concept art of the Eye of Michael where all the women are hotties. This goes 100% against the modesty of the original and the lack of fan service. Nightow does not draw his characters to be hot nor does he want to put in relationships - especially with Trigun. Kekkai Sensen has only one known relationship, K. K. and her husband. Which is great, but we aren't there to examine their relationship. Instead, K. K.'s family motivate her to do her job and protect them.
I should really wrap this up as it has gotten far too long. However, what happened with Stampede is Studio Orange likely got so into making their mark on the series and giving it a new angle that they lost track of how to make it work. What story makes sense? How do you depict your characters? What type of pacing do you use for a twelve episode show which may or may not get more episodes?
If it really were in development for five years, I can't help but think Covid-19 really messed up some of their work and why things ended up disjointed. Or they had too many people involved or too much input and tried to include it all. Whatever actually happened, they needed a tighter linear story and consistent vision. Which they lacked.

What I would do if I had the infinity gauntlet:
Pt. 1: make an identical copy of myself, memories and everything, so I can enjoy the changes I make
Pt. 2: remove scarcity, food, water, shelter, technology, etc. Immediately remove most conflicts
Pt. 3: erase religion, both from memories and physically. Mythologies can stay cause they’re pretty neat to explore. Erasing memories of them stops backlash against me as well
Pt. 4: dust whatever hate groups remain. They don’t deserve mercy
Pt. 5: horny bits don’t have weight anymore, also lorge, cause I gotta have somethin for me yeah?

School.
Fuck school.
I'm going on a rant about the flaws of school, just try and stop me.
I know that school is meant to teach you important stuff, stuff that you may need and stuff that you take interest in, and it does a decent job at this. However, school is built on the expectation that you are "normal". That you have zero health problems. That if you have something like ADHD you have working pills for it. But what about the people who aren't "normal"? What about people like me? I have an extremely hard time focusing on things that aren't interesting to me, and I do try hand to work around this but I can't. A good way to help with this would be to MAKE THE LESSONS INTERESTING. When you're talking about how ratios are different from fractions, half the class isn't listening. A good way to get us to listen would be to spice it up a bit, give us good ways to use this, make us think we need this and get us hooked, most teachers can't do that these days. Another very important thing is choosing the classes you want to take. In Canada, you can "pick" your classes in grade 8, which is pretty late on, but it only really takes effect in grade 9. There's also a very limited amount of stuff you can choose, with no guarantee you'll get what you picked. And yet ANOTHER important note to discuss is the teachers themselves. More often than not you get teachers that aren't the nicest. Like last year I had a teacher named Ms. Santos. She was my math teacher. I d e s p i s e d her. She was always grouchy and mean, and she failed one of her least favorite students even though she was doing everything correct. Teachers need check-ins from the students, not just themselves and other teachers, which I don't even know if they're done. Going back to the thing on the education system being built on the "normal" people of society, schools are still incredibly bad at handling depression, homosexuality and transexuality. On the depression note, all schools do is give up the silent option of getting help from the guidance councillor, they don't even mention it on sheets of paper pinned to the cork board at the office. On the homosexuality and transexuality note, there's probably a few sheets of paper on stuff relating to it on the cork board at the office, but NO ONE READS IT DAMNIT. Having trouble coming out to your parents? Come see this gay club at 7:30 - 8:30 here at the school to meet other gay kids, make sure to get your parents permission to go. That's what most of them are like. All in all, the education system is severely flawed. Actually, here's a list of thing I would do to fix it:
Spread much more awareness about depression and suicide, don't frame it as an enemy, but more of a big challenge to overcome. Also make a good program to help with overcoming this challenge.
Do background checks on teachers about half way into each school year, not just checking their records and stuff, but also asking what the students and other teachers think of them, focusing on mainly how nice they treat their students and if they discriminate against any majority.
Changing how fast you can control your classes. Make it so that more classes start to open up at around grade 6 and let you choose your own classes at grade 8, only a year back from norms but still a big leap.
Understanding. Teachers should know all the challenges of their students, they should know the true reason why their student didn't finish their poster, not just the excuse in black and white. Most importantly they need to understand why this is, some people just don't understand that a select few don't like making their parents worry so they don't mention their homework, then it piles up and that would stress them tf out, making them worse and worse and worse. I'm not venting shut up. Ok maybe.
As much as I do have some more things I would change, it's probably best not to express them because as of now I've said enough. The education system sits on a throne all proud people can't reach, but they cry when people throw stones at their feet. Fuck school, evolve to crab.
