𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐲, I just had to hop on the Wes Anderson trend because I’m always up for a ‘cinematic’ challenge. Isle of dogs is hands down one of my most fave movies ever! And you guys know how much I love making video’s!

While I give you a glimpse of my daily life I also wanted to tell you about why being a goldsmith and artist is so important to me.

I was born in Spain to a Spanish father and Indo- European mother. When I was a child we moved to The Netherlands and this is where I found myself torn between countries and heritage. I never felt enough to truly fit in, anywhere, let alone with Dutch peers.

To me being a goldsmith is not just a job. It is something I had to become to find home and a place of belonging.

Every piece I create is meant as a link between worlds, what ever that world might be. Something special to find safety in, but first and foremost a jewel that tells the story of you, and a little bit about me too. 🧡

I have recently watched “The Royal Tenenbaums” by Wes Anderson, and I have to say so many things about this movie. I am not so familiar with Anderson, since I saw only a small number of his movies (the most famous btw). Also, I usually don’t really watch drama/comedy movies. However, I enjoyed watching it so much! The characters are so unique and well written that it is impossible not to appreciate them, sympathize with them and understand all their vicissitudes. Moreover, the way in which the movie is narrated is so smooth and simple that it is really hard not to be grabbed by story. However, what I have appreciated the most is surely the use that Anderson makes of colours. The way in which they are used the compose the scene, send indirect messages and communicate emotions and moods. The use of symmetry and both blue and yellow really strikes the spectator, and adds a certain melancholy to an already complex and challenging story. I also adored the delicate way in which such a difficult topic like suicide is treated. The quote “Of course it is dark, it is a suicide note” is so powerful that haunts the mind of the viewers even after the ending credits. The self-explanatory but also extremely articulate love story between Margot and Richie Tenenbaums is what I liked the most. It is so sweet, delicate and beautiful that it is hard not to fall in love with these two. My favorite character is Richie, for sure. He is a sweetheart, gentle, caring person with a soft heart and a bizzarre mind. He reminds me of a quote that roughly says “If you find a cute weirdo who loves you, don’t make him/her run away.” To conclude, I really really liked this movie, which is melancholic, profound, eccentric, but also funny, beautifully framed and it has a great soundtrack. I had so much fun story boarding my Wes Anderson-inspired music video and combining different looks from all of my favorite W.A. films. If you are interested in the outfits I wore, read further 💗. Fun fact: the majority of the clothes from the video were already in my closet. This mauve dress belonged to my great aunt Muriel, though I replaced the buttons, and the hat was given to me by my sister back in high school. The dress I wore on “The Grainfield Path” was handmade by my mother. The blue hat I wore with the yellow dress was one I picked up at a farmer’s market in Cambridge, England, and the polka dot dress was given to me by @annatomizing and @rickrock77 out in Hot Springs, AR years ago on tour, and the dark blue cloche came from my 2017 trip to Florence, Italy. The dark blue “Life Aquatic” dress is what I wore for a photo shoot in Lynchburg, Virginia, with @ootwig! The fur coat was given to me by my husband’s sweet oma Mia, and the blue skirt is one my mother made for herself in the 70’s. I bought the striped blue and white polo at @hm, who are thankfully way into the 90s right now, and I hope Margot Tenenbaum would be okay with it. To watch my video, visit my golinks in my bio!
