“Are you kidding me?”

“No, cherié,” Charles grinned cheekily. “I’m not.”

“But didn’t we already do that?” Your hands were pressed to your chest in surprise. 

Charles laughed from his place on one knee. He held a ring box with a beautiful stone surrounded by tiny, intricate diamonds. The stone glimmered in the light and you recognized it as your favourite. “I know, but I want to do it properly this time. I want it to be a happy time, now that war has come and gone from our doorstep. I want the vows to be meaningful. I want to kiss you well. I want to dance with you for the first time again and spin you around and look at you with love. I want people to toast us and not talk about treaties and prosperity. I want them to talk of love and happiness. I want to redo our wedding night.” You laughed softly at that, melting at his words. “I want to marry you again. What do you say?”

“Of course, Charlie.”

Charles leaped up and spun you around. He pressed a messy kiss to your lips. “Really?”

“Charles Leclerc,” he set you down and you cupped his face, saying, “I love you. I will marry you a thousand times over if it means I prove it to you.” Charles grinned, kissing you again, and slid the ring on your finger. “It’s beautiful, Charlie,” you gasped.

“Only the best for my cherié.”

“I promise to stay by your side, hold you close, and never leave you. I will be with you in sickness and in health, in wealth and in poverty, in pain and in pleasure,” the guests chuckled at that and you're pretty sure you heard Pierre’s loud groan. Daniel’s laugh echoed above the crowd. Max rolled his eyes. Charles smirked and continued, “Y/n L/n, I grew to love you and every day, my love for you grows. By the end of our long, love-filled lives, I’m sure my heart will give out from how much I love you. You may be Enza’s beloved princess, but you’ll always be my queen.” He ended his vows with a kiss on the forehead. 

You huffed playfully and rolled your eyes. “I don’t know how to follow that.” You rested your forehead on his and Charles’ smirk fell away into a deep, loving smile. “But our journey has had many ups and downs but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Cause it led me to you.” 

Ralph yelled out, “Cheesy!” You stuck out your tongue in his direction. The crowd laughed.

“I think I’ve already proved to you that I love you and will stay by your side no matter what plagues the land or our relationship. But I promise to stay by your side for the future as well. I have so much love for you that it’s hard to express. I love your compassion and your humour. I love your intelligence and your empathy. I love your family,” Arthur let out a whoop at that. “And you’re not bad-looking, either.” Charles raised a brow and pouted and you didn’t think you could smile any wider. “You have stood by me even when I didn’t want anyone in the same room. You’ve listened when no one else did and gave me confidence when I doubted myself. Charles Leclerc, you are the best man I could’ve asked to spend my life with and I’m so glad you are bound to me by law so you can’t run away.” 

“I would never,” Charles snorted quietly.

“Mmhm. Sure.” You look at him sceptically. Charles dove in for a kiss but the priest muttered something and pushed him back. 

“Can we just say ‘I do’?” Charles whined. “I want to kiss my wife.”

The priest, having had to put up with the Leclerc brothers for a long time, sighed and continued the ceremony that was happening in the Foundling Villa gardens. After hurried ‘I do’s, Charles dipped you low and whispered a, “Hi,” before kissing you passionately. The guests clapped and cheered at the display and you wrapped your arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. 

“Get a room!” Brenda shouted out and Charles broke away to shout back, “Later, we will!” The L/n and Leclerc siblings groaned, disgusted at the thought.

“I love you,” you whispered against his lips.

“Yeah, well, I’m pretty sure I love you more.”

so finally got around to watching twin peaks. season 1, pardon the pun, is peak. incredible. could hardly pry myself away from it... I am trudging through season 2... little over halfway done... i... do not like it. these plots are just random and what was a plot all tied together and everything felt so entangled is now random and pointless and annoying. i can't tell if it'll hit it's stride again or if it's even worth waiting to see if it will

like yeah. at certain ages... let shit go. im not defending the real immature shit. im not defending the karen you're picturing. i worked in retail i hate those people too. (once somebody got mad at me because she didn't like how our winter window decor was a snowman smoking a pipe. i wish i was joking).

but men at 57 will write books about how 17 year old girls are soooo sexy. they will invent worlds where women have to be naked for "armor reasons." they will write songs that treat women as objects. people rush to defend them. meanwhile a woman at 35 will be like "heartbreak is hard, actually" or "i feel betrayed by a friend" or "i am struggling with something emotionally." immediately people will say stuff like this woman is 35 by the way. by the way this woman is SO OLD to be experiencing this. BY THE WAY.

im 31, almost 32. the other day a poet was blasted online because at her "big age", she had written a poem about feeling unloved. top comment was "this woman is 29 by the way." this woman is too old to still be useful, by the way. she has to behave better . maybe if she was a good wife and mother she could stop existing loudly, and the story could continue on without her. this woman has served her purpose, by the way. she's so cringe, by the way. at 29 - so old! - she still hasn't figured out that her existence should be one of shame.

i really can't emphasize how heartbreaking it is that the recent harassment campaign against @/90-ghost (among others; see: 1, 2, 3) has led to well-meaning people telling others not to listen to him. he is one of the most visible survivors of the genocide here on tumblr. his entire journey of escape is so well documented! and yet, it only took a few people confidently pointing fingers to create an entire witch hunt accusing him and other palestinians of being disreputable scammers and liars.

i can't help but feel like the reason why people were SO eager to believe those accusations, is because it was uncomfortable to see posts from palestinians every day asking for our time, attention, money, and support; so when someone presented the perfect excuse to ignore all those posts and asks while also taking the high ground, people just LEAPED onto it. they wanted to believe it, because it would be more comfortable.

honestly, i understand feeling overwhelmed by bad news, by the number of asks and messages in your inbox, and so on and so forth. i understand needing to set boundaries for yourself so you don't get burned out. i think this is really when you have to have a set of principles to fall back on, even when you're tired, uncomfortable, angry, and/or sad. so here's the one i suggest, which has been working for me best: don't make your discomfort with this situation into someone else's problem, and for god's sake don't make it a public problem.

if you hate seeing fundraiser posts or news about gaza, i can't emphasize this enough, JUST MOVE ON. KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT AND SCROLL PAST! all you have to do is absolutely nothing. which is what you were doing anyway, so it shouldn't be hard. if you don't have the heart to read, or reblog, or share, or donate, or support in other ways, at the very least, don't obstruct the efforts of people who ARE trying to make a difference. this is, quite literally, the least you can do.

The final TF2 issue really got to me. Spoilers, but it’s the reveal that all of this suffering and murder and war over gravel and shitty land was for nothing but senseless, bottomless hatred. That the administrator can’t even remember where this revenge plot started as she flashes through different false memories of her parents’ deaths. There was never a tragic backstory or justification, only terrible people doing despicable things. And despite how crass and stupid and unserious TF2 is, the story subverts every expectation by showing the survivors and inheritors willingly breaking the cycle. Ms. Pauling lies to the administrator and chooses not to save her, and finally lets her die. (Hurts even more if you read into the subtext that Ms. Pauling is in love with the administrator.) She lets the final cache of Australium go and walks away from the burden and legacy of a century-old bloodfeud. Hale lets Gray’s daughter go and live her life freely. Spy is the first to arrive at Scout’s house and meet his big family, finally takes off his mask, and helps with the kids. Even Merasmus exhaustedly makes peace with himself and Soldier and chooses not to curse him or something. There’s nothing to finish, no promises to keep, and no one to avenge. The only thing to do is break the cycle and walk away.

It feels odd how happy and warm everything is, but it feels so right and earned. These bloodthirsty, awful, violent men were expendable cogs in a machine of endless violence, and they found a way out. It’s a genuinely great message about letting go the past that burdens you and finding the will and a way to hit the bricks, change, and be happy. Maybe they don’t technically deserve happiness, but they’ve got it nonetheless, and they’re not gonna let it go to waste. They’re still all crazy and violent, but on their own terms now and with people who love them! Smiles.
