I really like this scene because it is cannon that Peter Pan was on her mind. Mrs. Darling in the original story was aware of it too. So to show this, they had Wendy doodle pictures of him. All leading up for her to finally catch him and their first chat that leads to her adventure.

Every time I watch a Peter Pan adaptation I start shipping Peter and Wendy and hope that they stay together despite knowing that the whole point of their story is that Wendy learns that growing up isn’t always a bad thing and eventually has to leave Peter and Neverland.

Hello, beautiful people!

I've made an official new blog, now that I'm re-configuring all of my social media after the TikTok ban. I met a lot of amazing and wonderful people through that app, and without that app, I wouldn't have gotten the amount of AMAZING readers for my Neverland fanfiction on AO3, "The Fear That Haunts Me."

So I'm going to build my presence on here and BlueSky (hbrae.bsky.social), as well as (hopefully) Pixelfed, if the app manages to update a bit to accommodate for the amount of people flocking to it from Insta right now.

I'm planning to use this page specifically to connect with people who are interested in my book! I'm in the process of editing all the "fanfiction" out of it to make it legally publishable - then I'll send it to an editor, and my goal is to at least START the publishing process by the end of this year. A more comprehensive author's note will be posted on my fanfic on AO3 at the end of this week!

As I work on other projects (yes, there are like five different books also beginning to be in the works... help lol) I'll keep y'all updated on those as well.

I'd love to connect with readers, people involved in the publishing and editing world, and other authors - as there are so many wonderful and talented people I admire on here.

I know the themes with the abuse and grief aren’t for everyone, but for the people it has resonated with I am very happy that it has. I wanted to write something a little grittier and some dynamics/issues that people in my life have experienced as well as just delving deeper into the headspace of this version of Will and Mike and the different ways they respond to their personal trauma and what that means for them as they navigate high school and try to build something between them. Their connection in this fic feels special.

Anyways, I know it’s darker, but there’s just so much to unpack for both characters in this one and it’s made writing it really interesting and fun mainly in the way that it’s made me really dive deep into some uncomfortable emotions and try to get it down on paper.

Final edit: When Jonathan tried to get Will up, he was sleeping sounder than the dead and made them almost late for homeroom. Original edit: Jonathan had put the keys in the ignition when he’d realized he’d forgotten his camera bag and supplies for the game. A sprint and a door slam later, they sped down the street trying to stay ahead of the clock that ticked on for the homeroom bell.

that final sentence summarized an entire paragraph and a half in my first draft! I only put two sentences from the original in there, but I bored myself with all the details I put in lol. BUT I initially wanted a little strange dream for Jon to wake up from, but decided to save that for later ;)
