My Thoughts on the Jarida Ship and Conflicts They Would Face.
I like the idea of these two being realistic close friends that can turn into lovers. However, I think it wouldn't be as normal as a basic human friends to lovers situation. This is because Jack Frost is an immortal spirit of nature, being the personification of winter.
youtube
I think Merida would actually be more on guard around him, more because of his magical nature than him just being a cute guy. Her mother believes in magic and in fairies and this was passed to Merida. Also, after dealing with willow the wisp, a man cursed into being an immortal killer bear, then dealing with a witch who gave her a spell that turned her mother into a bear. She knows magic is real and to perhaps tread lightly.
I think she would learn about the unseelie type of fairies from her mother, who is connected to the colder months, like Jack is. I think she would be very cautious around Jack Frost while getting to know him. Thinking he would be up to no good. He is a mischievous guy but he isn't actually interested in hurting anyone. She wouldn't know that at first. As he told Pitch, Jack doesn't want to be feared. So this would possibly upset him. I think this would cause stress between them at first, just having them gaining each others trust.
youtube
Once they actually became friends I can think of stress that would come from different conflicts for this ship.
Merida in cannon can't just live happily ever after with Jack and I don't think he would abandon his job as a Guardian after 300 years of not knowing what he was supposed to be doing. They can't just abandon their responsibilities, Merida already learned that lesson in her movie. She would have to choose a future king, her options to keep peace with her people are one of the three lords sons.
youtube
Jack would just serve as a good friend/person of romantic interest for Merida. I could see him give good advice for her as a friend and him being around may even help keep the suitors from trying anything manipulative. Merida is a princess, with land, money and a title. If the suitors also now believe in magic, they would be cautious around Jack, just like Merida was before they became close friends.
2) The second conflict I could see is from fairies themselves. Perhaps Jack hanging out at DunBroch so much would catch their attention. So these two friends to lovers would have fairy problems.
3) The third conflict is from Merida's people spreading a rumor that she is a practicing witch. She turned her mother into a bear and now she is hanging out with a winter spirit. This could cause problems more for Merida than Jack I would assume.

Don't be like the above-Jack and wear your gear properly kids! (I actually wouldn't know, it doesn't snow where I am.)
Been meaning to draw a solo piece of Jack for ages, but kept getting sidetracked. The "Olympic snowboarder" comparison has also been living in my head for ages. Put 'em together and this is what I've got! I tried to play with perspective for more interesting poses this time.
Someday... someday I'll post a fully-colored piece on here instead of a mostly monochrome idea...

Jack Frost is awesome!
Sometimes I think about how as a 6 year old I watched ROTG, immediately latched onto Jack Frost's leg like a tic (metaphorically), started imagining him being right next to me all the time and talking to him in my head, wrote "I believe in you Jack Frost please come visit me" on a large piece of paper and taped it to the wall of my house (inside, in the kitchen, where everyone could see), got made fun of by my family, didn't watch rise of the guardians for 12 years because of it, and after rewatching it recently am now regurgitating all of my suppressed feelings for this white haired fairy elf twink onto a Tumblr blog
