Late night thoughts from not long ago

Even after it seems to have healed

Grief is a wound that keeps opening

Even after it scars

Suddenly, it bleeds

It's like living with a hole in the heart

Its existence may be forgotten from time to time

But when you turn your eye towards it

Mercilessly, it pulls you in

You may manage to ground yourself and quickly look away

But if you do take a peek

You see a glimpse of another time

A whiff of feelings from the past

But even if you follow the thread

There is nothing on its end

Cut off brutally and taken away

So you can only backtrack

Crawl out of the hole

And look away towards what's still there

But with a clouded vision for a moment

From the wound that keeps on opening

My #1 post of 2022

I was leaving the doctor and an elderly lady entered the lift after me. I clicked the level 0 button, which flustered her; her hand twitched towards the buttons and hovered over level 1, and she asked, "mine is one, right?". Doubt instantly flowed into my eyebrows, because I think (but am not sure) that the rest of the building is filled with office spaces, but in my confusion I only managed to squeeze out "I... don't know?". She hesitated for a moment, then looked at me directly, "I want to go down?", so this time I answered with reassurance that it should be level 0 then. Her body relaxed visibly and her hand dropped, as she turned towards the door, apologizing and embarrassed, “I get easily confused and muddled”. I said “it’s okay”, but I don’t know if she heard me or not; her eyes fixed on the door and her face became solemn, as she kept quietly talking how it’s the age speaking and what it does to the mind. Her parting words were spoken in the tone which I can’t really pinpoint; on one hand firm and impassive, on the other with a tinge of powerless anger and sadness typical for the late stage of grieving something lost:

“Old age is cruel.”

And that was our farewell.

I don’t fear years adding to my age; I treat life as experiences and growth, which can only keep increasing as we live longer. I do fear, however, the moment when my mind starts slipping too drastically and the body gives up beyond repair, my world falling apart while I am still alive and grasping at straws...

look. either you agree with me or you don’t - either way it doesn’t matter - but i truly think that at some point - after time, a lot of heavy conversations, some yelling, and crying, and a whole lot of honesty and apologies from her parents - annabeth and her family would work things out and become semi-close. which means eventually percy would be on good terms with them too.

that said, you cannot convince me otherwise that at some point, probably soon after moving to new rome, percy gets into a screaming match with mr. and mrs. chase about how they treated annabeth. and he absolutely blows out the pipes of every house within a mile radius.

not because annabeth needs him to fight her battles. not because percy thinks he has to fight annabeth’s battles. but because he can’t even begin to grasp how someone could treat a child - their own child - like they treated annabeth. the man who was raised by sally jackson cannot even begin to fathom how they blamed their child for the danger that followed her, and then gaslit her when she went to them for help. he can’t even begin to understand how they put her brothers before her, because now that he has his own little sister, his mom has never been more clear about how much she loves him.

he’s gonna lose his shit.

(“what kind of father doesn’t do everything in his power to protect this child?” “it doesn’t matter that you didn’t sign up for it. it’s your fucking job.” “what kind of monster encourages her husband to turn his back on his 5 year old daughter?” “yeah you didn’t choose to have a child, but she didn’t choose to be born!” “what? did you hear that demigods don’t have long lifespans and were just waiting for her funeral so you could get on with your lives?” “what kind of parents make it clear to their daughter that their new babies are the priority? that she’s a danger to them? that they are more important?” “would you fall into hell to save her?… if your immediate answer isn’t yes, then making you a father was the dumbest thing athena ever did.” “she was a scared little kid. you were supposed to protect her.”)

the minute they try to defend themselves, the chases are getting soaked. and part of that is from peeing their pants with fear becasue we all know how terrifying percy is when he’s angry. and nothing makes him angrier than someone who’s hurt the girl, the woman, who is his entire world.

you cannot convince me otherwise. don’t even try.

i feel like people are sleeping on the occam's razor situation of how buckwild it is to outright accuse a guy of being a clone of your friend even if you DO have a lot of circumstantial evidence. there's other options is what im saying. they could just be like. a guy. that's a sensible deduction. you should explore that deduction. ignore my shirt that reads I <3 RED HERRINGS.

i still think odile has the correct theory on lock but she's smart enough to know it needs like... a real smoking gun to be able to bring it up without sounding insane.

Huh.

He had once entertained the idea that he wasn't really a Drake, a very long time ago when he overheard his mom and dad arguing and some words were said in the heat of the moment, but to be honest Tim always thought the obvious culprit of anyone being his dad would most likely be Bruce (Bruce even admitted he had a small fling with his mother but that was two years before her marriage)

But before little Tim's curiosity could really take hold on the idea, he had saw on the news Robin performing a Grayson flip and the hint of Tim not being a Drake left his mind. Robin was Dick Grayson! And if he was Robin that had to mean Bruce Wayne was Batman!

Then well... his stalking of the Bats started and the rest became history.

But now, as Tim was staring at his own DNA test, something he never bothered to do until that damned Demon brat wanted to make sure he was ONLY blood son of Bruce (and doing a DNA test something even Bruce never thought of doing due to well… how he was towards Tim during his first months as Robin)

He well…

He kinda needs to find out who this Daniel Jackson Fenton is.

(Tim finds out he isn’t a Drake, but also not a Wayne (because Damian wanted to make sure he was only blood son) but is instead a Fenton)

 Duke is kind of confused. Scratch that he’s very confused. And concerned. More concerned than confused actually. Like Bruce is back from apparently being lost in time, sweet! That’s great! 

 But uh, should he be concerned about the several ghost children now following him around? Should he mention it? Bruce has to know, right? Like he’s half certain that one just picked up a book right in front of him and dropped it in his lap, so Bruce isn’t oblivious right?
