So at first all I did was try to draw normally but like, with small squares and seeing how other people did it

aaand it wasnt the best

like, its not the worst but the colors are pretty low contrast and the squares are messy and while its certainly pixels its like, not something id put in a game now

I would reccomend looking up sprite sheets for old pixelated games like pokemon, earthbound or yume nikki, they have simple-er sprite work than, lets say, rpg maker sprite sheets

Usually when I make a big rooster of characters I try to do a general body shape that can be drawn over many times

Just by trying to do a little guy then erasing until it is a shell of his former self

of course before getting there you gotta just draw, big sprites, tiny sprites, whatever until you get the hang of making a shape

Some people recommend doing the siluette before the drawing but im really bad at that lmao

Also sometimes mixing dark pixels in an area of light pixels looks pretty good, especially in hair linework

But!! I recommend if you want to do big animations try to use a minimalistic color palette and shadows, or else everything will become incredibly painful

for animating try moving the little guy around like a jpeg doll, move around their limbs and stick them together lmao

Also!! use Asesprite, its good

plex: not gonna lie plex thinks theyre scary and kinda nuts LMAO . he stays out of that shit!!! not keen to get vivisected!!!!!!! he DOES have a complex relationship with his overseer and director tho (hot and fresh off the presses: that is because, unknown to either of them until recently, director vahnn* is his.. DAD !!!)

daizz: daizz Respects inquest leadership and views them as visionaries. generally. i think the only qualms he has with higher-ups tend to be things like allocation of funds (he always feels the enforcers are underfunded) and other somewhat inconsequential grievances.

daizz... i dont know how else to phrase this sorry. he has a bit of a hard-on for kudu. he's obsessed with the man. feels he was a visionary ahead of his time. he literally has framed kudu posters in his office. he got to witness kudu in person Once before kudu died and it was daizz's gay awakening probably (he isn't aware of this but i am.)

he actually has like.. strange.. respect-infused semi-familial feelings about kuda because daizz's mother, prova, is an exceptionally high ranking enforcer and works as one of kuda's personal guards! he's only glimpsed her maybe once or twice though, they've never hung out or anything crazy, but they're like one degree of separation lmao

kai: feels theyre all greedy bastards just looking out for their personal interests and he is correct. he has no particular loyalty or respect for higher ranking folks (except daizz). he'll still follow orders tho bc that is simply what he does

toza: she has a decent amount of respect for her immediate supervisors and bosses, she'll follow them without too much question, but has no particularly strong ties to leadership further up the ladder than that. i think she might have a weird fondness for kudu and kuda bc based on what she's heard about them, she feels like they have/had some traits in common with her/are the same 'type of person' as her (it's the desperate violent streaks)

13. What was their real motive for joining the Inquest? Whatever their job or area of research is, why is it that they feel they can't perform it within normal society-- why do something so extreme and push moral boundaries?

plex: going to be honest with you.. plex joined the inquest because he is stupid, basically. he wanted to figure out his father's whereabouts and he knows his father was associated with the inquest and just sort of.. went in that direction. he didnt think about how dumb this was until recently. unfortunately he's now entrenched and starting to Like It now that he's getting to perform some of his own research. inquest is family business for him now ig.

daizz: LOYALY.. HONOR.. VALOR.. ZEAL... VISION............. daizz is a Guardian with a capital g and he really truly Believes in the inquest and what they're doing. he's intensely religio-philosophical wrt the eternal alchemy, and he believes in the inquest's vision of the alchemy (minus the asuran dominion bit.. he dgaf about that). him and his mother were both originally peacemakers, her very high ranking, and she became disillusioned and he connected w/ her disillusionment, and so when she defected he followed

kai: kai wants money. kai is also kind of a rude mean violent person who, as gregarious and chatty and friendly and sociable as he can be, does not function fully well in normal society as a former ultrarich kid turned burnout gambler. he could've just as easily been a bounty hunter or a mercenary. the inquest is simply always hiring, is consistent with their delivery of paychecks, and was close by.

15. Were they involved with any of the canon GW2 events that involved the Inquest-- Thaumanova, Crucible of Eternity, Sorrow's Embrace, Rata Primus, etc? (Optional: How'd they escape when the Commander rolled in?)

plex:

daizz + kai: both daizz and kai were stationed in rata primus when it fell. this is where they met, actually-- kai was a fresh-faced enforcer recruit just shipped out from metrica, and daizz was the leader of the unit he was assigned to. kai is the sole survivor of daizz's unit, and they had to pry themselves out tooth and nail. daizz was able to find and retrieve kai halfway, and then after kuda was secured, she very gracefully allowed prova a brief leave to go find her son in the cube, so prova managed to track them down and help pry them out from there. they narrowly dodged the commander, it was just joko's forces they were fighting through

Ouma having to deal with the semi-clashing personality he has now and deciding who exactly he wants to be, and by extension, what he wants his life to be now in light of everything past and present.

-> ofc some conflict in the form of asshole reporters and fans finding out and following after them like creeps + both yumeno and ouma were still fans of the show once upon a time even if they both really detest it now, so trying to deal with that in perhaps each other is going to be a whole rip fiasco in some sense (also theyre like, living reminders of the show just by being next to each other so lmao for them).

wow gasp shock woooooowww who couldve eveeeeeer guessed that The tonitoni writer is actually writing the suspiciously teenaged girl tartaglia to actually be tonitoni!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /sarcasm

-> also zhongli didnt time travel, he timelined traveled - he wakes up in a timeline/alternate history teyvat thats lagging behind just a bit temporally, where the tartie is tonitoni and where the rite of descension has yet to take place.

to specific, he wakes up in the body of his other self there

he doesnt realise this bc well it's his exact same body + he mistakes the potent geo energies within him - which is actually the soul of his other self, forced into slumber bc of the timeline jumping antics - for his gnosis

-> the other funny mystery beat i was going for - tonitoni has the gnosis. she just grabbed it right out of her zhongli in a petulant, violently arguing fit by accident and the sheer, sudden force of taking it from him rendered him briefly unconscious.

she panicked tho and thought she killed him tho lmao rip tonitoni is such a funny little silly meowmeow <3

anyway bc of this, she basically yelled at the leylines to grab his soul before it disappears into the ether - and bc she wasnt thinking straight, she didnt notice that he isnt really dead and his soul hasnt moved on from the material plane

the leylines also meanly did not correct her on this, mostly bc thats not really their job, and simply dutifully complied with her garbled command to go grab a zhongli from the leylines. hey, conveniently, theres a zhongli in a domain close to the leylines in another timeline, that should do!

so yeah this technically means she also knows zhongli is rex lapis and not just a regular consultant at this point, which goes halfway unnoticed bc half the time theyre in public anyway so she cant actually go around addressing him as an archon lol

-> besides all this plot, there was gonna be a fair bit of chara rumination!!

it would heavily feature zhongli debating his future post-archonhood, what he wants to do in life and what he wants from life both. primarily the grappling of moving on from centuries of duty to a more self-centered, human existence.

on tonitoni's side, it would be the exploration of a friendly, almost mentor-like, almost parental relationship between her and zhongli.

-> childe will show up eventually and oh boy hes going to look at tonitoni and it will immediately become a disaster im tellinggggg you

also there will be chili endgame. there will be. that is the point of retirement u old noodle!!!!!!!!!!

-> fic ending is that tonitoni uses her free tree privileges to send zhongli and childe back after all the mysteries are sorted out (and just in time for the rite and the farce of a plan to proceed) ft. some emotional moments bc tonitoni is going to be super intensely staring at her brother in the head the whole time otherwise lol

sun in retrograde

-> aka noah "celestia" ebalon gets a field trip in retrospection at how much his childhood sucked ASS!!!!!! ft. worldbuilding

celestia gets to happily hate on his shitty parents, encourage his younger self to be more confident, and feel both appreciative and sad with more mature nuance over his brother

he will also ruminate a fair bit on how the past is like and what it will become from here on, knowing what he does from the future and the secret things going on (like the machinations of the cult of henir and such)

the worldbuilding will focus on magic systems, family dynamics, and elrianode nobility and customs

-> as for the actual plot-to-plot beats: good question!!!!!!!!!

well i know he'll stick around in the manor as a supposed expert magic tutor for harque, probably - celestia thinks this is both incredibly funny and also kinda whack honest to god

harque is also probs just going to wave him off like "i can tell you're not that interested like sure i'll take some tips but please do as you like ^^"

which celestia btw happily accepts so he can research how to go back to his own time and also maybe not worry too much about fucking up the timelines with his own meddling. epitome of "whatever happens will happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" in his head as he psyches himself through his research

he takes breaks in between of course though, accompanying harque or his younger self - who he definitely imparts more actual magical teaching to - and bonding with them, while internally musing about the outsider pov of seeing his own childhood self and brother with fresh eyes.

clamor btw is going to take one look at younger noah and be like "i understand so much about why you were like That now. also im going to squish his cheeks even more"

also at some point younger noah falls sick and misty shows up to care for him and celestia is simultaneously "idc my revenge plot was a whole life/timeline ago" and "you canNot be standing in front of me and pretend that you dont know whats up heLLO?!?!?!?!?!??" inside his head, which is otherwise politely smiling at her.

also "misty is an ebalon cousin" hc in full force here; shes from a branch family of the ebalons, i swear if the game canon itself doesnt prove me right i KNOW im right anyway SOMEWHERE

the final plot-plot beat is that harque figures out what celestia's magic research is really about (time travel) and while he doesnt press for anything from him (probably), he does comment about how such magic might help him actually win the nominations for moon master - this gets celestia thinking about the pendant trinket, and how he doesnt know where harque actually got the thing nor figured out how to supposedly use its magic anyway.

which leads to celestia being the one to craft the pendant and hand it over to harque, along with potentially cryptic words hinting at the future to come. maybe idk itd funny tho. (it'd also be funny if harque lowkey figures out who celestia actually is after this but lmao dont look at me)

ofc the ending has celestia eventually use his reversed time travel spell to go back to his own time, where hes like "well that sure was something!" sits there for a while just staring at the ceiling, then is like "hey, clamor, do you want to investigate henir's order? im suddenly realising that theres some loose ends i never figured out" and heading to elrianode for their delayed meetup with the ESP in the demon world lol maybeeee

honestly in my head i like to think that the First!Noi is literally so normal. a normal guy. he works in the Crystarium as part of the crystalline mean. and i actually had the idea of a blue quest where he's connected to the anden questline because my HC is that Anden and Noi were childhood friends LMAO

alongside my third OC, Viper. who is relatively normal in his ffxiv edition compared to how i use him in my oc rp groups LMAO

in my head the custom delivery quest connects to a follow up blue quest where Noi in the Crystarium asks the Warrior of Light about the rumours he's heard about Ilhl Mheg. He says he used to belong to a tribe further in the forest of Fanow, but for a brief time, he went to Voeburtite for a bit with his two childhood friends. They all picked out names—he chose Noi, because he liked the calm and quiet, where his friend chose Viper because he thought it was cool, but his last friend preferred to blend in and chose Anden.

"When the Light came in, I was worried for my siblings," Noi says. "I seperated myself from my friends and returned to my forest to ensure their safety." His voice is quiet. "Well, things went awry in the process, and I couldn't save them in the end. I followed the wave of refugees and eventually found myself a place here, under the Exarch's guidance. I'm happier, now, honestly, but in the quiet moments of the night I find myself wondering all too often what happened to the rest of my people." "Tales of your visits - especially your exploits in the former ruins of Voeburtite stroke a bit of a chord in me. What was it like there?"

The Warrior of Light tells him about their adventures directly, and Noi listens with keen interest.

"Wait. You said you have met Gillte— I mean, Anden? Truly? Gods, a miracle in itself... I'm sorry to impose, but would you mind taking me to him?"

They bring Noi to Anden's sheep shed where he has all his fairy friends and its like such a sweet reunion but also with some pixies almost threatening to turn Noi into a leaf man too im crying

"Wait, I recognize those highlights.... Could it be, Ukina? You survived!" Anden's ears perk up in astonishment. "You are the one who defied all odds here, Gilltett," he laughs, light and lilting. "Though it is very much like you to have managed to worm your way into every heart. You were always the sweetest one of us." "Ha, I assure you, it wasn't all that great," Anden scratches his cheek, no doubt recalling his times as a leafy green. "But I am glad to be back to the shape of a man. I can finally properly tend to the sheep as I should be." "Always the animals first with you, huh?" Noi chuckles, then turns to the Warrior of Light. "Thank you for reuniting me with my friend. I couldn't even dare hope to know that my family could have survived like this, but even if it's just my tribe brother, it is enough."

as a quest reward he gives high quality food. im crying

ITS MY HC that he is there afterwards and is in cutscenes whenever you turn in custom delivery quests. he visits anden often but for whatever reasons the pixies are scared of him HAHGSKGJHKSDHJG (they sense the freak nature that was roughly avoided here)

sometimes you see anden in the crystarium by the cafe having coffee with noi. and there's a third male viera there which is my other oc, viper! theyre hanging out.

Noi tells Anden that he's found a beloved, who is also a viera, and theyve both moved passed their old traditions in favour of staying together. they've gotten married so he can't go back and breed with the old tribe in fanow LMAOO and anden is like omg, that makes sense buddy. viper gets pissed off though and hes like IF NEITHER OF YOU WILL TAKE UP THE OFFER ILL GO MYSELF!!!!11!!1!1

he is absolutely skeletal when he gets back to the crystarium after which is so funny in my head. i will be drawing a comic about this

life's hecticness has finally kinda caught up to me and im just feeling super worn down and im seeking comfort in the old guard and because your blog always sparks joy ive come to you. on the subject of comfort do you have any thoughts on coping mechanisms/ways to comfort themselves the members of the old guard have? and similarly, ways they help comfort the others too? i would love to hear any and all thoughts you might have on the matter <3 - 2ta

in terms of comforting others:

nicky: words. i think its kind of interesting, but every time in the movie we see as character in emotional distress nicky speaks up (its okay nile, tell us, sono qui, everything happens for a reason boss) the only time he breaks this habit is when booker talks about grief in the lab.

booker: we dont rlly see booker explicitly comfort people much but he does seem to tend towards expressions of solidarity or subtle check-ins/expressions of concern (for the former he tells nile about his family, he tells nile big wounds take longer to heal, he reminds andy that ‘this is what you wanted’ and for the latter he asks andy post-stab if shes alright, he tells andy he wont see her again, etc)

hes also quick to (rightfully lmao) accept blame (after the kill floor, when he wont get up when the squad escapes, and the scene where he and andy get captured)

joe: he doesnt do a whole lot of comforting to the non-nicky’s out there interestingly enough. he encourages andy like the others do just after the baklava scene (i know you needed a break but its been over a year boss) he also tends to make little light hearted jokes/comments to lighten the mood sometimes (this plus 'faster than the elevator', etc)

and i suppose one could say him answering nile’s questions during the dinner scene are a type of comfort in itself, tho .. .... his answers arent exactly reassuring lmao

nile: So are you good guys or bad guys?

joe: Depends on the century

(j o s e p h you could have given her a more reassuring answer than that!! altho depending on the person, straight honesty can be very comforting in of itself, and joe prolly knew that andy would dance around nile’s questions and be generally unhelpful)

but additionally joe is a pretty strong protector and worrier about his friends’ well-being. he advocates for finding nile in the train scene and tells the others to ‘cover andy’ when they find out shes mortal

(plus the little touch he does to andy’s back!)

andy: andy’s mileage varies when it comes to comforting (primarily nile of course bc shes the Distressed One in the movie) but a lot of the time she tends towards offering stability and loyalty (me and those three men in there will keep you safe, you’re one of us now we would do the same for you, [to nicky] this changes nothing) which of course makes sense for her. stability and loyalty obviously probably mean so much to andy and as Team Leader shes probably very used to offering those things

nile: nile is more the comfortee than the comforter in the movie for all the obvious reasons, tho i think its interesting that at the end she tells andy ‘youre gonna [spend the time you have left] with us, andy’ not only bc shes delivering that stability/loyalty right back at andy but also bc shes also a leader (in the marines) so she might have a similar situation as andy with offering stability & loyalty as a Leader

being comforted:

nicky: the most notable instance of nicky being upset and getting comforted is obviously the van speech, tho like ive said i doubt joe’s go-to method of comforting nicky is a Speech. tho also (obviously & as ive talked abt a lot) i think he takes a lot of comfort from the idea of destiny/fate and the idea that he and The Lads were all destined to be together. he lomves his friends and hes happy when theyre happy

booker: alcohol.

honestly im not even sure how booker would really like to be comforted/comfort himself besides his given Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms. i think he does take a lot of comfort in his Solidarity with andy tho. considering his ‘that way madness lies’ comment about the immortality and his comment in the comic about ‘whats the purpose of an uncertain immortality?’ and his tendency towards tech, i think he’s the kind of person who likes when things are explainable and logical (and u could say thats a way he foils with nicky i suppose)

joe: him touchy

ive been meaning to make a gifset thats just Joe + Reassurance Through Touch but i keep forgetting about it. hes a very tactile boyo. in the comic while theyre having the nile nightmare joe reaches out and physically grabs nicky’s arm/shoulder in his sleep, like hes subconsciously checking hes still there. he worries So Much about the others (nicky in the armored van, nile in the train scene, andy post-mortality) and their well-being that i think he takes a lot of comfort in knowing all the lads are okay and safe (esp nicky)

andy: like i mentioned i think she likes loyalty and stability, which is obvs something shes had a serious lacking of throughout her life. ik u arent super into the comics but the recent tales through time story about andy went over how she takes comfort in the idea that her axe belonged to her mother once, even if her modern-day axe has had all its parts and pieces replaced so many times its not the axe her mother gave her 7000 yrs ago anymore. however andy still clings to this idea of her axe being her mother’s axe (‘this is the labyrs she held in her hands’). the memory of her family/mother and the stability of having the same axe with her through her history obvs comforts her a lot.

nile: again similarly to andy i feel like loyalty/family comforts nile a lot. she followed her father’s footsteps into the marines and worries about her loyalties to them through the first half of the movie, and tries to go home & thinks about her mom and brother through the whole thing.

(plus, music obvs means a lot to her)

OKAY, first things first. This started bc I was thinking abt the Sirens doing Derby together (OBVIOUSLY Harleys idea) BUT 3 players isn’t enough for a team (you need 3 blockers, a pivot and a jammer afterall) so this team HINGES on the fact that GCS had that brief team-up with Talia and Zatanna and the pure Chaos of them permanently joining the sirens in the mainverse is something I want to explore sometime in the future but ANYWAYS they also need a team to play against and I’m Nothing if not Consistent so OFC this is Sirens vs Birds

cue Same Age-Range College Setting, Roller Derby Focus AU. Everyone’s attending Uni at Gotham State and yes I have majors in mind too, for the Sirens we got undergrads Harley: Psych, Ivy: Botany, Selina: Art History, Talia: Anthropology, Zatanna: Theater. For the Birds, (grad student she’s fast-tracking) Babs: library science, (undergrads) Dinah: Music, Helena: Undeclared, Zinda: doesn’t actually Go Here lmao

now u might be saying “wait a min randy, that’s only four birds. DIDNT u JUST say u need 5 players for a team?” And yes. Yes I did. The Birds is actually a BIGGER team than the Sirens and includes anyone who has ever been on the BoP team ever. They’re all here! And there’s a lot of them that rotate in and out of the roster but for the sake of simplicity we’ll focus on those four as Main members.

So let’s talk positions, play style & other stuff!

so Harley is the Jammer, don’t fix what isn’t broken. I like the idea of Talia being the Pivot bc ofc she’d want to be in charge. Which leaves Ivy, Selina & Zee as the blockers

 YES Selina plays damn near as dirty as Harley does lmao. In fact if we rank them by how often they play Renegade vs Regulation, you’ve got, Harley, Selina, Talia, Ivy (all at varying degrees of being FAR at the renegade-end of the spectrum) and Zee is more like just Right of center in favor of Regulation (but not above elbowing an opponent or ‘accidentally’ tripping them up if they’re REALLY close to winning) 

Derby names MOSTLY follow their costumed personas, like Poison Ivy and Catwoman, but then there’s also Gnarley Quinn (currently taking suggestions for Zee n Talia tho bc... well they DONT have names other than their own really lmao)

For the Birds, Zinda is the Jammer, Dinah is the pivot, Helena is a blocker, Babs is actually the team manager & former pivot. Harley gave her a BAD injury during an end-of-season bout and kicks off the rivalry btwn the teams at the start of the plot. (Other birds in the rotation play blockers and jammers as needed. Helena will step up as pivot if Dinah can’t make a bout)

All the Birds PRACTICE regulation derby but....  well, when you put on your skates and the ref blows the whistle, what happens next can’t be helped (but esp after babs’ injury if its a Sirens vs Birds bout they’re out for BLOOD)

Yes their derby names are the same as their hero names, and yes ppl still call Babs Oracle even tho she doesn’t put on the skates as much even after her knee heals

Outfits and Skates:

So yeah, if/when I ever plot this out, it would be something with equal focus on changing relationship and team dynamics, and then focus on how well each of the teams are doing leading up to the Big Bout where the Birds are out to Avenge Oracle. huge group vacation

car divisions, who's driving, who's brought snacks, who keeps a constant call with the other cars, who takes pictures, who's asleep, who's listening to music and zoned, who ate bad gas station food on a dare and has to stop every thirty minutes to go the bathroom

AHHHH okay so for length sake i focused on the driving/road trip aspect since group vacation has a bunch of possibilities and options

so, first off, ochako and sero are our drivers since theyre the most calm and collected and able to handle multiple stimuli at once, runner ups were bakugo but you know hes got road rage like a mofo and iida who would follow the rules a tad too closely and takes like,,,,, 3x as long to get there 🤣

we rent out suvs to hold everyone but even then we have to split it up into the baku and dekusquad cars just cause theres so many of us lmao, with baz stickin with their sparky man in the former and you and shinso hangin in the latter (i make it uneven and i cant decide which to be in so its rock paper scissors and constantly alternating during stops afsgajsbs) but im ALWAYS checking in on my other man, and then us three have a group chat to keep everyone updated on the cracked happenings as well, denki always sends shinso a couple texts to check up on him too cause theyre close uwu

shoto is 100% looking out the window in the backseat zoned out, no music needed just in a half sleepy state and pointing out when herds pass by so you and i (and ochako as she almost crashes SHKWSGHDB) can look 💞 hes also a big fan of cheesy souvenir gifts since hes never seen them before and ends up with a bunch of keychains and mugs and junk by the end pls— deku keeps tracks of everyones favorite snacks and flavors and candies and coordinates to purchase which to share and when to distribute them so they last between stops, and you know iida is keeping up with the directions and arguing about them with her in the front, which makes it even more complicated cause shinso is in charge of music but always plays the most indie shit (while also trying to soothe you since car rides arent your favorite thing) which is chill n stuff sure but then we dont get those sing alongs road trips are known for!!

the bakusquad car, as expected, is MUCH different, mina’s playing hype party karaoke music which causes kami and basil and eijiro to sing badly and bakugo yelling at them to shut up, tons of car games and dares, mina’s taking vids and snaps and sendin em to the other car, kaminaris having to use it every 3 minutes but sero refuses to pull over again and again so we dont fall behind which makes us end up with a pee bottle corner in the back by the end of the trip ☠️☠️ racing through gas stations trying to best their times for snack pickups and refills, which is a sadly wasted effort since theyre always just flying all over the car anyway, eijiro always manages to hold bakugo back from jumping across the seats to strangle kami, baz is either cracking up or freezing up since theres always SOMETHING going on, so much stimuli oml, so a window is always open for em so they can calm down (with kamis help and proximity as well~) and strangely enough manages to fall asleep every now and then too

all in all i went super in depth cause this was super fun to write and its a journey getting wherever were tryna go 😭🤚🏼

I kind of need to vent about something really personal here that’s been bothering me all day. Sorry to throw some really personal shit out, but my next therapy appointment is in a week, so! Earlier today my mom and I were driving through our little tourist town and we saw these little buggies and she told me they replaced the family bike carts (like a bicycle made for 4 people to ride around the tourist area of this part of town) with these electric buggies (buggys? Idk). And she mentioned how my dad (who passed away a few years ago, and was separated from my mom since i was a kid) used to work for them and got fired and arrested because of letting his friends use the carts for free. She said he called her to say he was fired, and immediately after the cops showed up. And my mom had to drive to an unfamiliar town to bail him out with Exact Change and it was a huge deal for her.

And i put on the brakes on the conversation real fast, like what??? The shop owners arrested A LITERAL KID for doing what kids do???? And my mom tries to backpedal mentioning loss of profits is basically theft and what-not. But im here thinking about how this town is a predominantly white vs native+mexican town, in the early 90s, with these old conservative white shop owners who are ALWAYS mean (i speak from experience and first hand accounts of friends that were unfortunate enough to have worked in these tourist boutiques), and theyre out here ARRESTING a native teenager for doing what literally any kid in that situation would do. Are you trying to tell me there werent any blatantly racist motives behind this arrest???? And i bring this up to her and shes just trying to change the subject but its REALLY bothering me. Like i knew the shop owners that are in town (though ive never been on the carts) are all mean and nasty through every situation, but hearing about this really makes me sick! Because if someones giving out freebies, you just fire them! Thats literally all you have to do!! Its not like these tourists/or his friends are running away with these HUGE bike carts!!!! My mom goes “they probably just wanted to teach him a lesson” EXCUSE ME?

My dad had a rough time his whole life with law enforcement, and at home, so im just sitting there imagining what if? What if he never got Arrested that day? What if he never had those charges against him follow him through the rest of his life? (Theres a three strikes rule!) If he had gotten a second chance (of sorts) if he were only fired rather than arrested. Would he have gone on to have better interactions in regards to the law? Would he have had less problems down the line if employers had shown him some human decency AS A LITERAL MINOR?

What do you fucking expect a teenager to do when you let them run a tourist shop!!!! Theyre fucking kids, it’s what they do!! All i can think of is that there had to have been some ulterior motives behind it, because i know literally all the shop owners are old conservative and teen-hating white people, and my dad, being an obviously native person must have struck the racist chord in that owners heart as soon as he made a mistake. And thats what it is! A mistake! Like, i cant speak for him, but i can speak as a former teenager. We all made mistakes, and if you didnt, then you need to go to therapy.

Theres a lot that upsets me still especially since hes not here anymore, and i have a hard time talking about native stuff with my mom who is white lmao. But growing up and seeing the people in this area for who they are inside is really upsetting, because as a kid, you dont see all the nuance and pattern behind stories like this. Even as a teenager, you dont realize a lot of this stuff until youre older, especially when your primary parents are white and conservative. So its just kind of painful as im older and remembering things like this happening and what they would have meant when i take in the full perspective. Even after i became a legal adult, i still had (and have) a lot to learn about the way the world works, and how much of a contrast there is with my opinions when I was say 16 versus now - seeming wildly different now that i have a bit more world-experience from moving out of this town for college before ultimately coming back now. (For reference im 26 now.) I know i wrote something on here about my experience being half white before, looking back at what i realized about myself and my family, so i just wanted to throw this on here as well, while its still bothering me, rather that forget about it by the time therapy day comes around. Bottom line? Teenagers are still kids. Give them room to grow.

Tropes: I like to write (and read!) hurt/comfort, very close friendships (what TV Tropes calls Heterosexual Life Partners or Platonic Life Partners), explorations of identity, mental health issues, etc and what I call Queer Eye For The Straight Show lmao (I watch something straight, I apply a queer reading and then that’s a fic). Don’t think I’ve ever written this as such, but I go wild for Found Family and like.... former villains now doing the morally questionable thing to protect their loved ones/similar. Also, Lovers to Enemies lmao.

Number of fics: 32 ones on AO3, a few more very old ones on FF.net (as in, written before my English was.... competent). We shall discount these from now on lol. 

Fic I spent the most time on: For sure my canon era Les Mis wip, On the Path to Elysium.

Fic I spent the least time on: Hmmm for sure one of the ones I wrote in a trance after coming home from the cinema... probably my Norse Myth Odin/Loki smut, if we discount the time I used translating it from Danish (it was vaguely inspired by the live action Valhalla movie). Otherwise probably the Dumbledore Being Angsty About Grindelwald one I wrote after Crimes of Grindelwald. 

Longest Fic: Again, by far On the Path to Elysium. 

Shortest Fic: My old Black Magician Trilogy Dannyl/Tayend fluff, Late Night at the Great Library. I just wanted to write Dan/Tay but I didn’t really have an idea for it so it’s... nothing to write home about. 2014 was like that lol. 

Most hits: Mr. Harry Potter, a fic about trans boy!Harry that started it’s life as a headcanon post on @bisexualharrypotter​ and honestly probably because people follow the link on that post or because trans!Harry fics were pretty rare when I posted that (I mean, I don’t think theyre common, still, but certainly somewhat more so). 

Most kudos: Practice, Brooklyn Nine-Nine fic with trans, bi!Jake. 

Most comment threads: On the Path to Elysium again, probably due to length/amount of chapters. Several people are lovely enough to comment each chapter. 

Most bookmarks: Handsome as ever, my fic where the Thirteenth Doctor meets Jack Harkness :D !! This one probably got a boost with Jack’s actual cameo in the new season (it was posted about a year ago).

Perhaps reworking some of my Dragon Age: Inquisition snippets into an actual full thing? I also want to write more young(er), gay Dumbledore fic for the same verse as my other ones. Grantaire startled, shot Enjolras a look over his shoulder and went back to his sketch. 

“It is not in me to stop,” he answered, almost as quietly. “Though I ought to.”

Though Henri was keeping his head still as he’d been instructed to, his eyes went back and forth between Grantaire and Enjolras, as if trying to guess their conversation. 

“Whyever do you believe you ought to?” Enjolras asked. This time, Grantaire didn’t look up from his work. 

“All I can craft is this — half-finished pieces, half-formed ideas, impressions of what could be something great, if crafted by a more able hand…” Grantaire hesitated, but he’d never been able to curtail his mouth. “There is no point to keep creating what is doomed to always to be incomplete and incapable. I am deluding myself and cheating others of their francs… so yes, I ought to stop.”

God, he needed a drink. 

“It gladdens people, though. Your art. That boy, he will have a portrait of his friend because of you. And your erotica… “ Enjolras spread his hands in a vague gesture. “Well, it provides to those relegated to the shadows what others find out in the light, no?”

Grantaire stopped his sketching for a moment and looked properly at Enjolras.

“How do you know of my erotica?”

i have a lot of issues with dai, and i think one that always been there for me, and was never one to be realised later...

was that the advisors all had some degree of faith for andrastism (andrastianism? lol), from extreme to minor. and its just so unsettling because like early on in playing all i could think was: is this some kind of glorified exalted march? THIS RLY FEELS LIKE A CRUSADE TBH, JUST BECAUSE OF THE USE OF RELIGION 

like extreme right and left hand of the divine, former bard and the best spymaster in the world who is also conveniently known by every single damn person as having been the spymaster of the divine, and a woman who literally goes ‘isn't there room for one more god in your religion’ to a member of the dalish but says in the same sentence that only the maker exists, who underwent the equivalent of the rite of tranquility, and will pack up and leave with the remaining seekers to go do seeker things (EVEN THO HISTORICALLY, THE INQUISITION WAS ONLY SUPPOSED TO BE FORMED IN TIMES OF NEED AND NOT REDUCED TO THE SEEKERS AS SOME SECRET ARMY. SORRY AMERIDAN)

and then you've got like. the commander of the forces who is probably one of THE most inexperienced commanders ever because he has never lead anyone, ever. he’s been a follower. he advocated the murder of hundreds, and only had a face heel turn when he had crazy finally stare him down. still advocating that murder on a lower scale. still kinda creepy.

and well, josephine is beautiful and proved that the pen is stronger than the sword. i have nothing bad to say about her ever. i just wanna go to antiva already thats my only complaint.

but like... they slap the title onto a person who probably wants NOTHING to do with a human created religion that supports isolation, corruption, exploiting the weak, and demeaning people just because ‘it doesnt fit into their ideals’. oh wait that reminds me of something. and then have the audacity to then spout stuff at an inquisitor who wants to turn down the title. no theyre just a person in the wrong place at the wrong time. just ask solas.

and its not so much the character issue. its literally the writing direction. people APPROVED this, to be written and played out like that. and it does round out with how the games are now so determined to remove the myth of the dalish pantheon, but the maker is still real! never deny him! like fuck off your so transparent lmao

and then literally ham handing in cadash and adaar. oh cadash is conveniently a surface dwarf and probably has no stone sense and no connection to ancestors, so ofc they default to andrastian. adaar? well, we’ll make some snide comments about the qunari in here, but make sure a lot of dialogue choices insist they only support the maker too! no one will notice :))))))
