AU where Joey ends up Kaiba’s body guard when he returns back to Japan from the US in his mid 20s cuz his MILF girlfriend dumped him so he ran away and now has to reckon with old crush on the most intense man on earth. Also head canon for his mum actually being Italian-American, so he learned English at home at a young age from someone with a Brooklyn accent, so boom, that’s why he talks like that in English. Uhhhh i have lots more thoughts on this with @crownorclover but who knows if i’ll ever draw them. Sure’s been fun chatting about them tho :D

Well, we are officially living in a post My Hero Academia world now, so I'm gonna say my piece on the best stage I got. Hopefully without any spoilers.

Man, it's bonkers that it's been 10 years, mostly because it started the year before I graduated school, so in a way it's the first anime I got to get enamored with as an adult the same way I would as a child.

The series took over the world and was briefly just THE anime for a bit but I think it's important that we realize that it did that without trying reinvent the wheel, in fact the series revels in references to it's inspirations. The stand out feature of the series was it's optimism and that optimism wasn't unfounded, the author like Deku got to stand shoulder to shoulder with his own heroes almost like a self fulfilling prophesy.

The series was another reminder that western media can be just as influential on anime as anime is to western media. Not to mention another case where a fanboy got to work with and be acknowledged by the entity he was a fan of.

Now the series isn't perfect, I defiantly think the biggest problem came from the ever encroaching importance of the Todoroki family which feels like it took over whatever story that wasn't about Deku or the villains. My friend even pointed out that the initial idea of Deku, Iida and Uraraka as a friend group seemingly disappeared to make way 1A's big 3. Sorta robbing screentime from the rest of the class.

(went from Ash, Misty, Brock to Yugi, Kaiba, Joey)

That being said, I still love this series, hell, it's been way more influential on me than I probably even realized. When Sonic Frontiers came out and I got to do all that crazy anime bullshit I didn't think, "Damn, this shit's like Dragon Ball" I thought "Damn, this shit's like My Hero Academia." It is one THE shonen for me now.

(The 100% part of the Overhaul fight really is just like the bosses in that game though)

In the end MHA through all it's flash serves to remind us. That being a hero is more than a cool costume, more than a awesome power, and more than beating a bad guy. It's about someone who tries to help someone else out even if everyone thinks that they can't.

Something even as cynical as The Boy's can affirm to that

The series has always been about this one moment

This isn't just the moment where Deku starts to become a hero, it's the moment where All Might reaffirms that he IS one.

Down the line people might see something that reminds them of the hero's journey and say "This is the next My Hero Academia". They sought the dream and achieved the reality that others will now dream of. Now onto the loosely adapted live action movie to really cement their legacy.

Here's a Breaking The Seal question to help motivate you: what was the end goal for this story? Not the ending of the story: I mean your goal for writing the story. Like, what did you want to achieve by using the Yugioh characters in this (freakin' amazing) storyline?

Well it always bugged me that Yugi was taken out half way through the season and was basically held captive like a damsel in distress but mostly as a tool to further sell the fact Atem screwed up royally and there are consequences to his actions and all.

Which is fine cause it does help push Atem's character forward but it still feels like a slap in the face to Yugi who again it feels like the producers just didn't like him as a main character. And in a franchise were they gotta sell you those cards a protagonist needs to be "cool" to move the product (thus why Kaiba has so much merch and screen time) and sadly the ppl who will mostly buy the cards and watch the show wanna see the cool guy not the guy who reflects kindness and doesn't look like he'd hurt a fly. And yeah I know there are other shoenen protags who are like him as well but circumstances are different in this one compared to the others.

So yes it ALWAYS rubbed me the wrong way how Yugi was treated in DM; Manga and even Toei did way better and I'll die on that hill despite their flaws they still treated Yugi better then DM did. So with the power of creativity and years of having to sit back and watch my favorite character continually be left out of like EVERYTHING I decided it was time to change that.

And at this point I was more willing to actually write a thing since whenever I try to make long form comics I bail out part way though (Comics take ALOT of work ppl.) so this seemed like the better move.

So I made my first Fan Fic Leviathan Rising but that AU takes place after Yugi was taken and sorta turned into my own fun thing were I actually give character to main antagonist of that season (Leviathan) and sorta turn him in to an OC which I love <3

So for this fic I decided to explore what would happen if Yugi was made into the true antagonist of that season. Truth is Yugi could be just as evil as any person but he actively chooses to not be a total asshole if he can help it. Also I watched season 3 of Tangled the Series (Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure) and while I have my issues with Cassandra's turn to evil and how they handled it I still liked it. So I figured I'd like to take a crack on that same idea of the villain manipulating the hero's closest friend into their greatest enemy.

Thus DOMA Yugi is born! and since I love exploring Yugi as a villain (Black Mirror and Final Yugi AU) it seemed to fit. Since last fic Yugi was unwilling to be part of the evil this time he is (of course he's being manipulated all the way so far...) And at this time in the fic he has gone to DOMA's side so we'll read how that turns out soon :3

For Audience Participation: Fic-Writing Edition ask game

I'm flattered you read it for plot and think there's enough of such to sink your teeth into. 😂

I'm taking this as a chance to answer your ask as if it's for the ask meme. Hope that's okay, anon! For one, even though it's on the list, I'm unsure if I'm going to get to writing it. It doesn't even have a linked document yet. Like I keep talking about writing the short where Jou and Mokuba meet for the first time, and Mokuba poisons Jou (on purpose) and... *cricket noises*

Anyway, putting the idea behind Kaiba and Shizuka's meeting under a cut since it's technically a spoiler.

Shizuka and her mom don't live in Domino. As in many of my other fics, and mentioned in one of the other Lure fics, they live in Nagasaki, whereas I usually place Domino in the Chubu region. The reason this is set later in Lure is it'd have to be a time when Kaiba would presumably be willing to let Jounouchi tag along in his travels for "business."

So Kaiba has to go to Nagasaki for "work," and that gives Jou a chance to reconnect with his estranged sister. This is super awkward because they literally haven't spoken in years and Jou in this AU is less "heroic" than his canon self. Shizuka, of course, asks about how he's doing and maybe even brooches the subject of their father. At this point, Jou has not seen his dad and has been living with Kaiba for years. Maybe he tries to not reveal too much but I can't see him as doing it particularly suave and Shizuka worrying about him because she still remembers stuff from her childhood. Nor is Jou's caginess inspiring confidence.

To put her concerns to rest, he admits he hasn't lived with their father in a long time. Maybe even lets it slip that he's living at someone else's house, only to panic when he realizes what he's admitted and tries to write his relationship with Kaiba as an employer/live-in employee relationship. Kaiba employs Hanako as a housekeeper, so Jou sorta lumps himself in with her.

Shizuka insists on meeting Kaiba since he's also in the city. Jounouchi panics, but at this point, he and Kaiba are "fond" enough of each other that he goes "just do me this favor (you can have me repay it however when we get home) and for the love of god, please act normal."

So the three of them meet up before Kaiba and Jou are due to return to Domino, probably somewhere in public such as a cafe. Kaiba busts out his "totally normal university student from a well-to-do family" impression. He doesn't raise any immediate red flags to Shizuka, but Shizuka does pick up on their closeness.

Both Kaiba and Jou play how they met and came to live together pretty close to the chest.

That's when Shizuka comes to the conclusion that Kaiba is Jou's quiet/introverted boyfriend who helped get Jou out of a bad situation and they're maybe trying to keep their relationship a secret because of homophobia from society or Kaiba's family. Jounouchi doesn't realize this until they get home when Shizuka calls to ask after Jounouchi (I imagine the siblings start to communicate more regularly after this) and when she also asks how Kaiba's doing, she refers to him as Jou's "polite boyfriend."

Jounouchi wants to die afterward, but he finds it hard to correct Shizuka's misconceptions without worrying her. So now when Shizuka calls, he has to endure her referring to Kaiba as his boyfriend.

Oh, and he does everything in his power to not let Kaiba find out about this. He predictably fails, because this series is about tormenting my boy, even if it's mostly for comedy.

(Kaiba is actually super amused when he finds out because one, it implies that he came off "likable" enough to be deemed someone's boyfriend.)

That is also my secret, later Lure occasionally becomes a comedy of errors.

favorite sections of this post that i feel really capture the core of jonouchi as a person. i'm obsessed with these words.

jounouchi is very stuck on this idea that he needs to be useful. his dad is an alcoholic with a gambling addiction and he believes it's not only his duty to pay his father's debts, but to be the household's sole source of income. his sister needs eye surgery and he believes it's his responsibility as an older brother not only to pay for it, but to act as her primary emotional support to get the surgery and throughout her recovery process.... it's habitual, jounouchi doesn't know how to stop taking on the burdens of other people. if you live with the mentality that you’re inevitably going to fail for long enough, you’ll come away with the belief that caring about your own wellbeing isn’t worth the effort. it depends on how pessimistic you want to read it, if it’s just his love language or jounouchi compensating for the damning act of being himself, but jounouchi quantifies his worth by how much he provides for other people. he’s always jumping in the line of fire for the sake of others because if you constantly undervalue your own wellbeing, you always have less to lose. as the underdog, he may not be as overtly powerful as kaiba or yugi, but he can still give himself away, and he’s convinced himself that it’s what he’s supposed to do. a key distinction between jounouchi and kaiba’s upbringings is that while kaiba’s biological parents died in an accident, jounouchi’s parents are still alive and they choose not to be responsible for him. jounouchi is conditioned to fend for himself by himself because having a parental figure actually present in his life isn’t a luxury he gets to have. to jounouchi, there has to be a reason why his mother only takes shizuka and never goes back for him in the six years he’s left with his father, and he rationalizes this... jounouchi is not delicate, he can endure it.... jounouchi is hyperindependent because he believes he deserves it. it’s the reason why he believes he’ll finally have a good relationship with his father if he just wins enough money to pay off his gambling debts—jounouchi can fix everything if only he were man enough to, and he can get people to stay if he demonstrates himself useful enough. so death doesn’t carry nearly as much weight to jounouchi as it does to kaiba. in kaiba’s eyes, death is the punishment for failure, but to jounouchi, death is just the natural consequence for the kind of life he leads. he can't stop himself from fighting for the people he loves until he’s spent everything and forced to stop (read: dies), so during the several times jounouchi is confronted with his own death, he meets it with a solemn acceptance. like, yeah, it sucks, but he doesn’t regret the actions he took to end up here—he’d do it all over again, frankly. it’s better to die than not give everything he can, and at least he was able to give his life in service to someone else. it’s not necessarily good to die, but it doesn’t matter as much if he does.

this post understands jou so well to his core - and i think these are a lot of the concepts i am trying to get across in my portrayal of him. reckless, but not without cause. his life is about utility - to die in service of those he loves, well, he sorta always thought he'd go out that way.

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

well originally it was just because he looked really cool & i liked his aesthetic + with my sister saying id like him got me intrigued to play the game. what really got me loving him was just his general demeanor and attitude, and his relationship with his siblings was very cute. ive always been a sucker for mages too so. overall,, i just like how much he cares and his feelings about his independence and pragmatic sorta outlook :)

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

oo thats hard im not much of amusic buff so hmm, maybe "youre not me" its seto kaibas theme song from one of the yugioh movies but its a banger and fitting for like. tween leo i think lmao

9. Could you be roommates with this character?

yeah probably! if its just us 2 hed definitely like do some chores of his own free will n pick up slack where i cant, i feel like we could split it easily. and we both like our alone time so like, i think he could deal with the occasional convo with me and wed be good

“We’ll play when I get home,” Seto said.

That was a lie, Mokuba knew. Those stupid business parties lasted into the late hours of the night. A time well past boys of the brothers’ age should be up. And then once Seto did get home, he would have more assignments he needed to get done before morning.

But Mokuba still nodded and waved to his brother, and Seto waved back.

As his big brother stepped into the limo in clothes Mokuba knew made his skin crawl, their ‘Father’ finally came out of the mansion. Like always, Mokuba slunk out of sight as quickly as he could.

The man didn’t even notice. _____

It was almost like the mansion was empty.

There was still staff of course. Just none that would talk to him unless he needed something. So Mokuba just went back to his room.

It was too big and had next to nothing in it. He’d given his cards to Seto—or snuck them to him, which left the younger Kaiba with little to do for at least the next four hours until he had to start getting ready for bed.

Why did those fancy meetings have to start so early? Seto had told him that a lot of what happened at the start of them was saying hello to everyone and pretending to be friendly before everyone turned into business sharks.

Mokuba took one of his textbooks off a shelf and cracked it open. Math. He grabbed a pencil and his notebook and plopped down on the floor on his stomach. At least he had some homework to do.

It’s not like he wanted to go to the stupid things anyway. Seto told him over and over how boring they were and how he wished he didn’t have to go. There was nothing for Mokuba there. He may even be a liability.

Algebra… how boring. But there wasn’t much left to his homework. Nothing near what Seto had. Mokuba glanced at the clock on his nightstand and decided to time how long it would take him to finish the last twenty questions.

He knew all the things Seto did though, all the fancy dinner table manners and stuff. He could sit through it just fine if he wanted to. He’d probably be good at it too! There were other kids there too, maybe he could even find a friend… No, that was stupid, those kids weren’t like them.

He wasn’t using a calculator—just like Seto. Carry the two… It was taking longer than he would have liked to do this. The heater came on. It was too loud. Not to mention with the weather getting colder, Mokuba’s hair held a lot of annoying static.

Seto was stuck for hours with Gozaburo being tested on all the business junk. Mokuba didn’t want to be there. Formal outfits were the worst anyway. And so was the food at events like that, if you could get one bigger than a coin, that was.

Something between a cough and a laugh escapes the boy. His pencil snaps. Not now—he was almost done! He can hear the clock ticking.

It was better this way. He didn’t want to go to that party. Because he wasn’t as tired he could cheer Seto up the next day. Let him complain about the party and vent about how boring it was. Mokuba could make it better, he could cheer Seto up. It was better to stay home.

He finishes writing the last answer and snaps his gaze to look at the clock. Twenty minutes. It wasn’t shabby at all.

Seto would have had it done in ten.

He shouldn’t be comparing them. Seto’s older and in advanced classes.

Mokuba didn’t want to be at that party. He didn’t.

A tear smudged some of his answers.

There were still three hours and forty minutes to go.

Heyoo!! I've been hard at work and I have a couple drawings of my Monkie Kid Au's characters'll look like! I won't give spoilers yet cause I need to figure out the overall story for the comic(cause some bits are still a work in progress), so yeh! I'll give a short explination for each drawing tho if it helps.(also, Sorry if this is super long 😅)

Anyways, to start off with, we have MK!

To start off with, since I'm making him the son of Macaque and Sun Wukong, he's gotta have a monkey form! Soo I gave him the tail but for the ears, since Sun has 2 and Macaque has 6, I thought I'd just meet in the middle with 4. Soo you bet he'll have sensitive hearing now with this, next is the outfit, I kinda kept it simple,changing a few bits but I tried combining the S1 and S3 jackets together, buut I thought 'why not add some purple to him?'. Oh and the bandana! I wanted it to be Sorta reminiscent of Macaque's scarf, and yeh, that's basically it for now.

Now Onto Mei.

I wanted to give her a type of bomber jacket just the middle part being shorter than the previous jacket she wore. Annddd the dress shirt she has underneath, I wanted to keep it her style soo I watched the last 4 episodes of season 3 again and came up with making a green flame design on it. Though i thought adding some pastel purple and pastel pink details would work with her as well, plus some red as a reference to the samadhi fire. Also, Can't go wrong with a choker that has a flame charm on it can you?

Next up, our resident fire demon, Red Son!

I wanted to add some Demon Bull king elements to him as a start, sooo, the tail came in and I added a set of horns that'll be growing in. I kept most of his old outfit just adding extra details to the shoes andd adding a dog tag that has the Chinese symbol for "Family" on it. Ohhh but the jacket was the most fun to draw, I wanted to keep it both fancy but pretty exaggerated. Sooo I used the Yu-Gi-Oh Character Seto Kaiba as a reference. Now this is only one version of the jacket since he'll have a separate one with his original logo on the back. Buuut this sleeveless version has the symbol of the Ox from the Chinese zodiac on the back of it, though I wonder, where did he get it from? 🤔

And lastly, We have Sun Wukong and Macaque themselves!

Now, I thought about keeping a sort of Sun and Moon motif to them whilst looking at their previous outfits for ideas.

For Macaque, the first thing I did, was to make sure I kept Macaque's blind eye(which he may hide from time), I switched up his scarf colour since he got rid of his old one and gave it to someone else. The rest sort of fell into place after that.

For Sun Wukong on the other hand, I used refs of his outfits and armour from the show, but also looked at the Monkey king:Reborn 2021 movie's version of Sun anndd the 2015 Monkey king:The Hero is Back movie's version of him for help with keeping his outfit traditional but adding my own ideas to it. For the pauldrons on his shoulders, I came up with the idea that he may have been given a couple scales from his friend the White Horse Dragon before he passed away, used those to make his armour. Oh and I tried making it so each colour represents a past friend of his, So Tang Sanzeng, Zhu Bājiè, White Horse Dragon, Nezha and a bit of Macaque too.

But, the MAIN part I wanted to keep, was the Golden Fillet he wore during his journey to the west with his master and allies. Granted he got rid of it but a headcanon of mine is that he kept it, after he was able to take it off, as a memory of his master, Tang Sanzeng. So I stretched it out a bit wider and made it a sort of crown(Idk what that type of crown is called).

So yeah! That's it for now and I'm so sorry if anything sounds like I blabbered on or didn't explain some parts enough, I'm not the best with explaining things, I just draw to have fun tbh. Anyways! I hope you like them! And please, go ahead and suggest below who you think I should redesign next and whatever ideas you have for them.

Figure collecting: April - June 2022

Slowing down, sorta (haha)... but well on track to clear out most of my figure wishlist by end of the year.  Not going to include every last item I’ve picked up in the last few months, but there’s still quite a few I want to show off, including a biggie.

Yu Yu Hakusho: Kurama, Hiei and Youko by Union Creative.  I wasn’t going to pull the trigger on these, until I realized that Hiei had an alternate “sleepy” head, and instantly I knew I wanted to make a Hiei sandwich ^^

Ancient Magus Bride: Chise Hatori in wolf pelt.  Super tiny and adorable!  This one was a struggle to get, as this was a “secret” figure that could only be obtained by buying the full set of 8 figures.  But I only wanted this one and had to wait for someone to split the set.

Final Fantasy: Dragoon (aka FFIV: Kain Highwind).  Since it’s not officially a figure of Kain (my favorite boi from FFIV), I didn’t realize this existed for quite a while as it didn’t come up in any searches.  Of course they had to make the Kain color variant limited edition, aka harder to find, gotta pay more : p

Oh, like the fancy backdrop?  It’s supposed to be Midgar from FFVII, or as close as I could get. I’m working on installing backdrops on all the shelves : D

Toriko.  Probably the best figure of him, though he always looks like a mechanic to me in that jumpsuit ^^;  Another figure that’s part of a set which I’m trying to split.   

Jo Jo’s Bizarre Adventure: Jotaro.  And toys!  Mainly included Jotaro for scale, but I picked up these mini crane game and capsule toy (gashapon) dispenser kits on Amazon and am working on customizing them.  The gashapon is done... it’s very hard to tell, but the top dispenser is advertising a Seto Kaiba figure, and the bottom is Tokidoki.  I also added a Tokidoki backdrop to the crane game and am working on crafting super tiny prize boxes to fill it with.  What better to go with figures than a crane game dispensing more figures?!

Jo Jo’s Bizarre Adventure: DIO!  Ok, I admit I don’t care for him as a character, but man, the smugness radiating off this figure and the exaggerated hip thrust/skintight black bodysuit made me desperately want to have it.

Conveniently he comes on a set of stairs, which works perfectly with the door-onto-a-staircase in the backdrop.

Castlevania: Alucard and Maria.  Another hard to find set, as they’re on the older side.  I wasn’t going to get Maria but I do like her “Hey big boy, checking out my owl?” gaze.

And finally, the *drumroll* piece.  Hubby’s birthday gift to me was this gorgeous resin Alucard from First 4 Figures. You can see how big he is (1:4 scale) as the edge of his cloak is in the photo above.  Unfortunately hubby was unsuccessful in hiding it (so I knew what I was getting), as the shipper box stood maybe 3′ tall : o

(And if that wasn’t enough, I preordered this even more exorbitant 2 part resin of King of Fighters: Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami, my gift to myself) : p

YUGIOH DnD Takes:

real brief but fr i’m 100% sure that bakura and yugi are hella into dnd. bakura dm, yugi and tea come to every session hence are the highest levels. they’re also the only two to uh… read the rules properly, they know all the ins and outs of their character’s mechanics. joey comes as often as he can but yk, ever since he decided to take on solomon’s part time job offer, he’s a bit busier now. alsoooooo, he dumped all his stats into strength and forgot about constituon… so he’s a hilariously squishy paladin. tristan makes it when possible, he’s got boxing (idk it makes sense to me?) training quite a bit so yk can’t make it all the time. Also: as much as he loves playing games with his friends, combat and how bakura’s plots are well written, he’s not super into the role play.

Kaiba, now sorta warmed up to the gang, plus Bakura was really nice about convincing him, he has a character and drops by occasional sessions. Once he played his character as the ultimate boss and enjoyed his time spending all his turns attacking Joey ☠️…

As for Duke! I kinda forgot to add him in when i was drawing this. but: my take is that he loves both being DM and playing. He plays as a multi-class ranger-rogue for sure. super into home brew and has begged bakura for so many various op items he’s seen online… most of which bakura has said no to :’)

I'm too tired to rant on this right now but something something him being attached to his own name and the title L as much as he is to any of his other numerous aliases something something his strained relationship with his father figure something something the fact that Near and Mello's legal names are explicitly the names used to kill them or needed to kill them, meaning they still attach to those names as being representative to them, meanwhile we never see the name that kills L floating above his head or written in the DN, and only learn of it in supplemental material.

Just a random scenario:

Pegasus holding a survivor battle like they did in Beyblades (reference under the cut). The winner gets anything their heart can desire (no limits stupidly enough) and sure everyone besides Kaiba sorta low key expects Yuugi to win, but he battled Kaiba and had a double defeat so they were both out. And Jounouchi ended up winning it all because of this, then he stood on the stage, looked Kaiba in the eye with the most shit eating grin and requested the rights to the blue eyes white dragon so Kaiba has to call him and ask him to be able to make blue eyes white dragon merchandise as well as pay him royalties.

Sorta on the same vein as the Chazz & Jaden friendship, but Aster, Jaden and the childhood friends group playing Sartorius like a fiddle. Chazz, Bastion, and Alexis only pretend to be brainwashed to find out what is really going on. Aster feeling bad that Jaden lost his connection to the spirits and is relieved that he got it back.

(Oh definitely a plan was set from the get go) 

When Aster came to dual academy, they all stayed under the guise that they had never met him prior to that day and he formed a similar fake rivalry to Jaden as he and Chazz did. So Aster dualing Jaden was something they all saw coming and both were excited for it.

But when Aster won to his and everyone’s surprise, Jaden fainted. When they went to see him in the infirmary, they were greeted to him looking at his cards in fear. “I...I can’t see them...my cards...their spirits. They are all gone.” He whispered, noticing that for the first time since he'd been summoned, Atem was gone.

So that meant everyone knew something sinister was going on, as this had never happened before. Sartorius was the one to arranged the dual between Aster and Jaden, so they knew it must be his doing.

“I’ve got a plan but before that, Jaden can you get your dad on the phone?” Asked  Aster, his mind racing that his manager and friend could do such a thing but the man was acting off. Jaden did so, handing Aster the phone so he could fill Kaiba in on the situation and his plan.

It took every part of Kaiba to stay calm and not fly his jet to the school to gut Sartorius like a fish, instead he cleared his mind of vengeance and Aster explained his plan for the others to go undercover. “See what you can find and report to me, I will have my people get there soon enough.” He said before the phone was handed to Jaden, and Kaiba’s heart shattered at how broken his son sounded. 

It was if all his nightmares from when he was young had returned and he wanted nothing more than to hold him. “Dad...He’s gone...” He sobbed, being held by Alexis and Atticus, Kaiba’s blood ran cold, with Atem gone Jaden would be left even more defenceless. “I’m sending Bakura in, stay with him, we’ll get to the bottom of this I swear.” He said, already getting Mokuba to call said man. 

Aster stayed alongside Sartorius, trying to unearth the secrets the man was hiding from him, meanwhile Chazz faked his brain washing and dualed Bastion and Alexis to get them into the white dorm. While Jaden roamed the island with Bakura.

Sartorius or rather the light of destruction was enraged as he was defeated by the combined efforts of Jaden, now revealed to be the embodiment of the gentle darkness and Aster, the others had found out about the satellite and Kaiba had taken control over it being that it was his property after all. “Please we’ve had the drop on you from the start, you never had us under your control” taunted Chazz making the being shocked and further enraged. 

“Though you were right when I’d choose my childhood friend” snorted Aster, smiling and Jaden who grinned back “but how did you get thay sorted?” He asked curious, as Jaden had joined the dual without saying what happned, Jaden rubbed his head with sheepish but amused smile shared by Bakura “well...it all started with a dolphin”

Probably putting the cart before the horse but I could swear 5D’s and ZeXal worlds dropped earlier than Arc V world in Duel Links so I see no problem in why I can’t post my theories and expectations for Vrains world which is presumably in the works for October 2022 at the latest, I would say. I’ve heard rumours that there are link-related data in one of the recent DL updates, just sorta making space for them sorta thing, the name of a link card was found, those sorts of scraps.

So here is my expectation for the initial vrains world lineup that covers month 1 of debut and a little after

Playmaker. As much as I prefer Yusaku’s design, for some reason his avatar is much more frequent in overworld lineups done by staff and such so I think we might get a Yusaku image, it’ll be Playmaker that we’re playing as. I do think as part of the world’s opening story, we will get a few Yusaku lines before the inevitable “LINK INTO THE VRAINS” lines.

Soulburner. Obviously staff’s best boy is a shoe-in as a straightaway character, he’ll be in his avatar as well. Not much else to say but I predict he will be unlockable somewhere between levels 2 and 5, I can’t imagine them placing him much higher and I can’t imagine them picking Shoichi over Takeru here as well, unless they go pure season one which I don’t think they will. I think they would want sympathetic Ryoken out the gate.

Aoi.... Blue Someone.... Aoi is bit of a mystery to me but she is absolutely guarenteed as series Best Girl but because she has three avatars, I don’t know if we’ll get all of them, if they would be treated as skins (unprecedented in Duel Links which sucks because I would shell real fucking money to put Kaiba in a bathing suit, we deserve seasonal alts!!! but I digress), or if she’ll be exactly one of her personas. I thiiiiink Blue Angel is likeliest because it feels like other characters are at the beginning of their arcs in other series but I could be wrong.

Ryoken, uncertain of s1 or s2 onwards Revolver. Similar boat to Aoi but not quite so bad, Ryoken having two avatars does make it tricky but since s2 onwards Revolver is no longer a villain, I do think that makes that design likelier despite my perceived precedent of character arcs tending to be early to in the middle. I also think he will be the first event character but will still debut within the month like with Reiji and I think Ryo (?).

However, I do think, given enough time, I do think that Blue Angel, Blue Girl, and Blue Maiden as well as both Revolvers will be unlockable characters.

And you must be thinking, I’m keeping the best til last, my best boy goes right here as a level 10 onwards unlockable character out of the gate. Nope.

I honestly think Go or possibly Ema has a higher chance than Spectre being like one of the starter kit characters. Altergiests are in the game already since they’ve got Synchro support however Go has two archetypes - Goukis and Dinowrestlers - and both are in the game too giving him more cards out of the gate. I think giving these archetypes character related skills feels very... on the cards, if you will, hence their placement.

Next comes SOLtiS Ai as the event character after Ryoken, I believe. It feels like a good use to keep attention dragged out over a period of time if the robotic pretty boy comes a month or two after debut. Not to mention it will give characters time to “develop” justifying why the last season’s boss is finally here. I want to believe SOLtiS Roboppy will make an appearance in some way, shape or form but its veering on too hopeful for me.

And speaking of veering too hopeful, here comes what I consider the last two most important vrains characters who deserve to make it to duel links: Shoichi and Spectre.

I have very flimsy hopes for Shoichi but he does get a huge boost in being on the allies’ team from the get go. I think he’ll be mentioned in the prologue, he might even get a portrait for any lines that he may have. If like in one of the ZeXal world stories which incorporates the anime, I think bare minimum he would appear in that if Vrains has one. And then there’s Spectre.

Spectre’s duelled more often than Shoichi so I think that does look good for his chances. Especially if my previously dismissed idea of going pure season one for these characters is more on the money than I realise. My one true hope is that he gets character portrait rights when Ryoken is introduced. I don’t even care if they put avatar!Spectre in conversation with irl!Ryoken before he henshins into Revolver.

so yeah tldr..... i can’t think of a good tldr, i think Yusaku, Aoi, Takeru, and Ryoken are givens, fifth squad member is a toss up between Go and Ema, depends on where in the story they wanna add DL

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice)

I’m naming one thing, because I’m gonna just make it a big thing.

KID FICS!!! For the most popular pairings. (Puzzleshipping, Prideshipping, Thiefshipping, Rivalshipping, etc etc.) I realize it’s because they are all gay ships. And the only way for kids in gay ships is from a previous straight relationship, or adoption. I prefer the adoption route, as adoption is a beautiful thing. (Or we get kinky and do mpreg. I’m honestly not picky.)

But there is a criminal lack of fics where these pairings are parents. And I’m not talking about fics where it’s kinky and focused on pregnancy or anything. I’m literally talking about fics exploring these ships being parents, navigating parent life, and having an adorable rug rat. Cute domestic family fluff.

I want to see Yugi and Atem adopt, or whatevs, and have a little gremlin running around. And NOT like angsty shit. But actual sweet fluffy stuff. I want to see these characters love enduring even throughout the hardships of raising a kid. Teaching their kid how to play duel monsters. Or getting their butts whipped at poker, because Grandpa taught their kid how to play Texas Hold ‘em. Atem being an awkward dork trying his hardest, and Yugi just being at home laying on the floor playing Candy Land with their kid.

Imagine dad Kaiba! Just imagine! It would be so frickin cute. I feel like he’d be more protective than he is with Mokuba. And he’d sorta spoil his children. And talk logic at them. Depending on if it’s Pride, Rival, or Flare, I could imagine Yugi and Atem in such situations. The potential for cuteness is just… hhhrrrrrmmmmm.

Imagine Bakura and Marik trying to adopt. It would be literal hilarious chaos. Because both of them are horribly inadequate at peopling, much less parenting. But I feel like Bakura has lost so much that he’d step up and be protective and try so hard. And Marik would just be like, “well the helmet is a tad big, but I think six is plenty old enough to ride on the motorcycle with Daddy.” Meanwhile Ishizu is like, “Marik! Don’t you dare!!”

Or Ryou and Akeifa being parents. And Ryou is so soft and patient. And Akeifa is gruff, but soft for his kid. He will definitely throw fists if someone (probably Atem, Atem wouldn’t even have to do anything wrong) so much as disrespects his kid. Akeifa being like, “good job stealing all the pens at the bank. Now go steal Atem’s wallet too.” Ryou be like, “don’t teach our kid that!”

I just want domestic family fluff for the big popular gay ships. Plwease. Pwease YGO fandom??
