yO i just got past egwene's tests to becoming accepted, and i can't stop thinking about how her visions of these different versions of rand match up with lives he saw in the portal stone in book 2!! did you also get an implication that the ter'angreal the aes sedai are using for these tests might be sending the girls to actual alternate lives/realities?? because if so: WILD. i may never stop obsessing about this.

OOOOH that's so smart!!! oh man mind blown!! all these alternate realities and dream worlds are too much for my little brain to attempt to analyze, i've just been going "damn that's crazy" and moving on without thinking too hard about it jdkfg i didn't even think about similarities to the portal stones, but you're so right they are similar! i definitely buy that those could be actual alternate realities, especially bc they were so vague about "some people believe the things you see in there are real and others believe they aren't"

on the other hand, nynaeve's matched up so neatly with her past fears (that creepy guy from the eye forget his name), her present fears (abandoning her community), and a future that would tempt her (domestic au with lan) which seems a little too convenient to be just random alternate lives like the portal stones. for hers i got almost more show!machin shin vibes, like it knew her deepest fears and desires and was intentionally playing on them. but egwene's 3 seemed less clear-cut past/present/future, and there was definitely something weird and non-standard happening in her ter'angreal trip (hence why we saw nynaeve's first to see what it was *supposed* to be like) maybe having that dream ring thingy with her caused her to really get sent to alternate realities? oh my brain hurts hahaha

i'm curious to see whether the testing will make it into the show. one of egwene's was obviously kind of repurposed as rand's temptation at the eye, so i'm thinking they either won't include her testing or will make her scenarios different (which i wouldn't be mad about since nynaeve got nicely well-rounded scenarios that fleshed out different aspects of her character, whereas egwene's were all "rand rand rand" lmao). but at least from where i'm at right now, the testing doesn't seem to have too much of a purpose beyond some character work that could be accomplished in other more efficient ways in the show, so i feel like they may not include it at all. we'll see! and the portal stones too for that matter, i feel like they won't want to go too deep into all this alternate reality stuff because that will get very confusing very quickly for a casual viewer haha i'm an obsessive viewer and even i don't understand it

taco and bomb’s arc is kinda. similar?? but in reverse?? Taco is seen as dumb and a joke. but is revealed at the end this is all a ruse. while Bomb being seen as capable. and efficient. and really good at challenges. at the beginning. and well into the season. but he changes? after he hits idiotic island. he bc a shell of what he once was. Now he’s a weird joke character. very similar to how taco acts at the beginning.

now what i find very interesting. is that the fist that propels everyone to idiotic island. has never been wrong. Not once. Nor has it rllt been late? So what was the reason bomb was late? esp since this is when bomb changes his persona. to be very “dumb”

Also? no clue if this could correlate. But Bomb defended Taco in ep 2. saying she only speaks french. which we now know is complete bullshit?? Why did bomb say that? It implies he knew her. bc he was the only one who knew this. but it wasn’t real? weird.

Ouch. Well, sometimes you just find a tragedy. Not every story is going to end in a very positive way. It's certainly a choice but that's definitely something to be mindful of when you're reading stories. Make sure to check the warnings and the genre because you wouldn't want to get started on something and it wind up in a tragedy and it's not something that you're emotionally ready for it.

It's one thing to be reading a story and then that just comes out of left field a hundred chapters later or whatever, after building up for a very long time. It's another to have a forewarning. Not everybody gives those though. I think when you reach the end of stories like this, there's always something in that ending that was good or at the very least cathartic. I would try to focus on that aspect and find the peace that makes you feel a little less hurt. Because there's always some sort of meaning in there that you can take away no matter how dark things get.

Who the heck is my muse anyway:

Seto Kaiba is the CEO of Kaiba corporation, a world renowned softwares and games development company. They are one of the main partners and investors of Industrial illusions, the company responsible for the creation of duel monsters (they are also known for their theme parks in Japan and the USA, and later [GX] they own the duelists academy). Kaiba is also amongst the top duelits known in the world, Yugi is the only one who stands above him- no one else comes close to rivaling him.

Priest Set is one of the six priests that compose, Atem’s court in Ancient Egypt (and in the afterlife). He was the original wielder of the millennium rod, and carried the duties of extracting prisoners kas and execute them. He was also a phenomenal war strategist, and a powerful magician (who was only ever defeated by Atem. No one else rivaled him, in those skills). He fought against Zorc, alongside his colleagues and pharaoh, and came out as the sole survivor of that previous court. He became the new pharaoh, after Atem’s death (since it was revealed to him that he was Aknadin’s son, so they were related.). Set reigned over the Egyptian empire, and went down in history as a tyrant and merciless pharaoh in Egypt’s history.

Points of interest:

Kaiba can be recognized at about anywhere he goes. He is a very prominent, public figure. At some point, any muse is bound to have at least seen or heard something involving the name Kaiba. Don’t let those commercials and interviews fool you, Kaiba is a difficult person to be around in person.

Besides my AU, where Set shows up in the modern world. Interactions will either take place in AE or in the afterlife. In AE, it can be during his time as a priest, or when he is the pharaoh. Meanwhile in the afterlife, his soul is bound to serve his king. When Set is in the modern world, he is sharing his mind (not the body) with Kaiba, so he knows his way around as well as everything that happened during DM’s events.

What they’ve been up to recently:

It depends on the verse.

For standard Kaiba’s interactions are all set in his present time verse, 4 years post-DM. He has long since quit the professional dueling scene (after being defeated by Yugi in his BC 2.0 tournament, that takes place after Atem’s departure), so he has only been focusing on his company - and his brother (who is already studying abroad). Kaiba has also cut all ties and contact with Yugi & co, the last time he saw them was in their HS graduation. Currently, he is working on his duelists academy project, he has just bought the establishment and is making huge investments on it. He is often traveling abroad for business reasons, and is rarely seen around Domino city.

As a priest: Set is serving the royal court, he is an important and prominent figure within it. Because of that, his days are extremely busy. He can be often found being mentored by Aknadin, or in the company of other priests. On the rare occasion, it is possible to run into him while out hunting wild animals.

As a pharaoh: Set took over the throne after Atem’s death, and is currently trying to repair and rebuild the empire after all the damages and destruction caused by Zorc. Things are still very fresh and recent, on top of that the former priest is now trying to adjust to his life as the king of Egypt.

In the afterlife: Set’s soul made into his pharaoh’s after his death, in the mortal realm. He is finally reunited with his colleagues, but Atem is still nowhere to be found. As such, he alongside with everyone else waits patiently for their king’s return. Things will return to normal, once he makes it into it.

Modern AU: Set has been granted the chance to meet, the one that was meant to be his vessel. However, things have been less than stellar to him. And ever since he came across Kaiba, he has been kept inside of Kaiba estate. He isn’t allowed out of it, in order to avoid people mistaking him by his vessel.

Where to find them:

Kaiba is... All over the place really, although bars and nightclubs might be the better places to find him. Otherwise, he mostly stays in his company’s building or in his mansion.

Just look above for Set, it depends on the time period- when things are meant to happen. But during Ae, he doesn’t really leave the palace that much and in the modern AU he is stcuk in Kaiba’s place.

Aoex au idea pt. 1. I never saw the movie, but I know it involved a demon that could alter memories, so in this scenario a similar demon lays a unique curse on the Paladin and his son/student as they kill it some time before the start of the series. The curse causes Shiro and Yukio to forget Rin, but it then grows beyond that until everyone connected to his being sealed, or has lied to him has forgotten he exists. The one person who remembers is Shura, who only knows him from a picture and Shiro

AE au pt.2. Shura had no part in Rin being contained so the Memory loss does not affect her. At first she doesn’t notice anything wrong but before long she notices a difference in Shiro and Yukio. They spend more time at headquarters now that there is nothing to go home to and when she asks about ‘that other kid’ they have no idea. Still weirded out she decides to check it out herself bc she remembers that mission and what the demon was though to be capable of. She finds Rin. He can see demons.

Pt.3. Rin had awakened during his period of homelessness. He also discovered his flames but keeps them hidden for now due to how the demons always get when he uses them. He learns to use his fire to warm himself and to cook with, and has enough control to hide for the next several months. He has no idea what he is or why his family suddenly forgot him. When Shura finds him it is the first he hears about exorcists or what his dad and brother do. She takes him to the cram school.

Pt.4. Shura is dismissive of Rin at first. So is everyone else, including Rin himself. Bc Rin is still reeling from finding his dad is his new teacher he doesn’t act out and make a bad first impression on Ryuji. Shiro is better at controlling his students than Yukio and they learn to behave more quickly. Shura puts Rin in position to meet Shiemi and while the meeting is different she still decides to join the cram class. Rin lives with the other students in the cram school dorms.

Pt5. Shura felt responsible for Rin. She was the one to fill him in about his family and his options, she informed him about demons and exorcists and the cram school and their demon king chairman. He had no sword but she started teaching him to fight anyway, and as time passed she had become attatched. When he shows her his flames one day she tells him to keep it a secret and starts to train him in control. She never reports him, and she understands Shiro a little better now. She is still mad.

Oh wow. I don’t know if this is the end, but, wow, way to break my heart.

This is so sad. As the movie addressed (and in the movie the demon’s specialty was to make people forget about stuff that upset or bother them), forgetting anything about the people you love and care about, even if it’s a bad memory, is not a good thing. Each memory is precious.

And this just sucks for Rin because he has no clue what’s going on. His family came home and didn’t recognize him. Did they forcibly throw him out because they didn’t know who he was? Because if so, holy fudge. And then he starts sprouting flames everywhere and he has even less clue of what’s going on.

At least this means he probably won’t draw the sword and actually fully awaken his demon blood and remain “human.” Well, at least until Shiro somehow finds it and draws it, because he would still have it, right?

Though if things were to go like that, maybe that would undo the demon’s work and they’d all remember. Which would be great because hey, they all remember and Yukio and Shiro would be horrified. But it’d also be bad because knowing Rin’s luck it’d be in the middle of cram school or a mission.

Even if they remember, Shura would still be pissed. She’d continue taking care of Rin as her “little brother” (which would probably be the excuse she’d give to cram school though it’d make Shiro, who knows better, suspicious), while Shiro and Yukio try to prevent the worse and also try to make things up to Rin.
