#dandy's doodles#inanimate insanity#ii#ii steve cobs#ii mephone#ii spoilers#ii 16 spoilers#objectober#objectober 2024#okay i'll be honest. the final drawing barely fits the prompt#however! it was inspired by it#'internet' immediately made me think of 'welcome to the internet' by bo burnham#and my mind instantly jumped to 'and it did all the things we designed it to do'#and y'know... steve cobs designed mephone to be able to create things#and so in a way mephone is fulfilling his purpose by creating the contestants#he's fulfilling his purpose by doing what his dad did#and then that made me think of the garden of eden story#where god creates both adam and the tree of knowledge#he tells adam not to eat its fruit and yet adam inevitably does; thus adam gains free will#and one has to wonder if that was god's intention all along - for humans to have free will#whereby adam - through the apparent defiance of god - is able to become exactly what he was created for#and y'know... mephone making his show as a rebellion against cobs...#only for that very show to be a creation borne of his intended purpose#so yeah. my mind jumped from bo burnham to the biblical creation of man#anyway!! very very happy with how this turned out#my favorite part is the charger snakes. i'm so glad i came up with that idea#also cobs' arm! that turned out really well! i referenced my own hand for his!!#in any event... it turns out i really really like biblical imagery and symbolism huh#also yes i did stay up all night like a maniac drawing this. the idea came to me and i just had to see it through :D i'm glad i did

I've been sitting on this ask for a bit, but I think I should finally answer.
In my AU, Fidds is actually pretty old-- not like ancient or anything, but surely a few centuries?
Anyway, so way back, when he was human, he did have a wife and a kid!! But when he got bit and became a vampire, he actually outlived them :(
He tries to think about them often, but it's definitely one of the things he chooses to erase when he creates the memory gun
#if you were a bored immortal what's the first thing you're doing?#exactly-- wait around until the 1970s to go to a college that happens to be no one's first choice where you get a roomate that you befriend#and after graduating with an engineering degree and waiting a few years you get a call from him while workin in your garage#and he ropes you into coming to live with him to help him with this big project#and then you really DO get roped into his project literally and you're traumatized by the experience so you quit and leave#but y'know it just so happens that you received an invite to a vampire “meeting” that really is just a party#and you don't have a good time but on the way back to your motel you run into this guy that looks a little like your buddy but he's greasie#chubbier just grosser in general-- oh yeah and a werewolf#and then it turns out that your buddy actually managed to fall into the nightmare portal and his brother the werewolf#wants to get him out and he finds out that you helped build it originally#so you get tied in to domestic hijinks with the brother of your friend while you both try to work together to build the portal#and you accidentally fall in love with your friend's twin brother- the werewolf#or well that's what i would do if i was a cursed immortal y'know#cole's answering#gravity falls#grunkle stan#stanley pines#fiddleford mcgucket#fiddleford hadron mcgucket#stan is really only mentioned in the tags they kinda got away from me sorry guys this always happens#werewolf stan pines#vampire fiddleford#gravity falls au#gravity falls halloween au

I am so obsessed with Erika's and Brennan's willingness to play incredibly emotionally charged fights between characters that love each other in deeply complicated ways, like the amount of trust this shit takes to do in an improv show? Was obsessed with it in burrows end, am obsessed with it now in misfits and magic, will be obsessed with it when they inevitably do it again in the coming Aabria dmed worlds beyond numbers story, these two (and especially Erika for being so so willing to play the heel) kill me everytime, I love them

I honestly think we don't appreciate enough how much this whole sequence says in terms of Sera's characterization
Right from the incredibly transparent "wrong kind of elf" phrasing and down to the "let's help him in a way that's consistent with his beliefs so he can live well, but also let him know that being threatened with being ostracized for literally being disabled it shit and offer help there too"
#also? this is a good look into her relationship with other believers when they are NOT directly connected to personal trauma#dalish religion gets her loud and hostile with denial 'cause it's a personal trigger and she immediately feels attacked#here? well she still does not respect it much clearly#but this is much more akin to a response you'd have to someone in a cult y'know#'here's what you need to thrive now - but if you ever want out here's also my number. it's not all there is. but your choice entirely'#which imo only underlines that the whole 'Sera wants you to deny your faith' debacle is entirely#about her fear of how that faith could be used to hurt her (and you. and you two together.)#and not the faith itself really

#dandy's doodles#inanimate insanity#ii#ii baseball#ii nickel#ii balloon#ii suitcase#ii clover#ii mephone#ii cabby#purim#objectober#objectober 2024#fitting for me to reference the other costume holiday no? :)#seriously the armless alliance fits very well into the purim characters#suitcase does fit better than clover as esther but i feel like clover would be more likely to get that role in a play. y'know?#but yeah. baseball as achashverosh... the leader who's passive and ineffectual though well-meaning; always relies on his second-in-command#then nickel as haman. the second-in-command who puts all his energy into hating people and guides the leader into enforcing that hatred#balloon as mordechai... the guy the king's second-in-command despises (though here it's for different reasons)#and for esther... someone half in the party of people nickel/haman would hate and half in the party of people he'd like#who recognizes the way he's cruel and screwed up and eventually points it out#suitcase works better as i've said. cuz she's actively pissed at nickel and causes him to experience some punishment for what he does#while clover more gently tells him to change#for vashti... suitcase can work for her yeah. part of the group but excommunicated for disobeying#if i'd pick someone else i'd do soap i think? but i'm not sure#anyway i'm really not escaping the symbolist allegations... adapting mythological/biblical imagery for art......#it's fun though! and in this case it can be silly too
