I find it so hard to believe edwin only has a first and last name. like that boy has GOT to have at LEAST one middle name. and/or a baptismal name. like tell me you can’t see this boy having like. four or five names

for all that I love Ghosts, I've been getting a very different kind of joy out of watching uploads of a very, very similar show on youtube - The Ghosts of Motley Hall.

Like, a setup where the ghosts actually mostly like each other from the off, so that a huge chunk of the dialogue just goes towards establishing more and more of their meandering, idiosyncratic shared history (especially because the budget was clearly about £1.50 so they have to establish most things through dialogue)... that has its own kind of charm.

#bbc ghosts #the ghosts of motley hall #I'm genuinely not sure how much overlap to expect in terms of ghosts people who have seen this #because I... couldn't find? any mention of the six idiots referencing it they only seem to talk about Rentaghost #so when I first looked into it I was expecting there to be a steady trickle in the Ghosts to finding out about Motley Hall pipeline #but not only does there not appear to be #the show is apparently just WAY more obscure than I anticipated in general?#at least in terms of its presence in any online articles/social media #anyway all this to say I think anyone who's comfortable with suspending disbelief in the name of fun would benefit from knowing about Motle #ie I think more people should #also in terms of ghosts stuff Motley Hall also has a Fanny in it!#The dialogue is just whimsical little joy after joy #'I ALWAYS do the stairs on Thursdays!'#'I don't think they are wirelesses. they have glass fronts.' 'they've got knobs on.' 'well so's a chest of drawers!'#Also one of the things I have found writing about is that Fanny was apparently a fan favourite character back in the day #and I cannot pinpoint a single concrete reason why but I GET IT he's just so entertaining to watch #GOD I just love the dialogue so much 'you think it'll go on forever?' 'nah it'll run out of horses' referring to horse racing on TV #I love Bodkin and his perpetual willingness to position himself as the arbiter of common sense based on very little actual knowledge #'what's he? a soldier?' 'nah that's a policeman' 'what do they do?' 'well they sit in the kitchen and eat jam tarts'#there's so much information contained in that response I love it

reading atla fics where zuko joins the squad in S1 and katara is the most distrusting of him even after sokka and aang trust zuko a la S3 is soooo infuriating like girl. did y'all forget the crystal caves where katara heard some of his Tragic Backstory™️ and IMMEDIATELY tried to help him out??? she only distrusts him so much in S3 so much because he went and backstabbed her after they had a fun bonding moment. you know who would be the most distrustful of zuko out of the 3? sokka. the disrespect.

||. thor misunderstanding earthen housing norms in the modern day is SO funny to me to think about. He's doing his best, but between being from another planet with far more advanced technology (and much more "archaic" culture customs) on top of also being a PRINCE, I would imagine some normal practices and understandings of things simply don't click with him more than others.... Not because he's not smart. Thor is incredibly intelligent. ONLY because of the huge culture divide. But... that said: the concept of having neighbors who own their own land right next to yours, but the plots of land are TINY ??? absolutely crazy to him. Why aren't the plots of land BIGGER? why don't more people utilize it to farm crops???

Also don't get him STARTED on the idea - or nature of - apartments.

Cried over an English test but hey I'm alive

#very pissed at the teacher #i wasn't there the day of the test but i was there when they were handed back #so i got to take a look at the format and it was pretty simple #describe each literary device listed and give an example #so i thought i would be doing that. i could do that #but i show up today and the test he gives me is completely different #it says to identify the literary device in each sentence. the thing is #EVERY SINGLE ONE HAS MULTIPLE OF THE OPTIONS #so i asked the teacher and he said “yeah but they all have one that's the most correct just trust your instincts”#AND IM JUST SITTING THERE LIKE HELLO?????? “MOST CORRECT”????????#NONE OF THEM ARE MORE CORRECT THAN THE OTHERS #and i told him this!!!! and he said “just pick the most obvious one and don't second guess yourself”#OKAY WELL HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THAT WHAT IS IMMEDIATELY MOST OBVIOUS TO YOU IS NOT NECESSARILY THE SAME FOR ME #AND THAT DOESN'T MAKE ME WRONG???????????#FUCKING HELL #LEARN TO. #i was telling my friend that I had some lc thoughts lately which they asked and I responded like a day after (distracted by yuri sorry)#also because I feel like I cannot articulate my thoughts without sounding like an inherently hateful or annoying person about it #there are more to this being that I talked about Benjamin pre LC behavior in the text but benjamin in LC loop behavior evolved #into a state of helplessness complacency state where he held the belief that his and A relationship only last inside the loop #which metaphorically meant that he believed A will have to remain as a hurtful person for their relationship to last #so Hokma's story just have his behavior toward A have this bit of him condemning A's behavior and go on his poor angela speech #and later on dwell into how it is actually OK for A and everyone to keep living like this because A could NEVER change anyway #and if A argues that he could that just mean that he COULDNT BE serious about it because lol something something repeated hurtful pattern #this is something he has in common with Angela as well because Angela's dialogues toward seed of light progressions express this exact #and it is when his meltdown come in where he poses as protector to protect whatever A hasnt destroyed yet #which later just dwell into him admitted that he was just being overly vebrose about his intention but in reality #it was mostly because he couldnt bear to part with A again #I do absolutely think what Benjamin/Hokma feel toward A is romatic attraction like he is literally gay so yeah #and the fact that in QnA PM has answered that Benjamin wasnt in the loop before Angela killed him and put him in so that why he got older #which makes sense because this place into the thematic that when he wanted to escape the loop or fix thing he actually #growing up #while as Hokma stuck in the loop and dealing with the above issues he started being ''stuck'' in a loop #like I cant with the popular fan theory of Benjamin is killed each loop and how tragic it is like #no it didnt happen and it would be frankly kinda lame im sorry #ok im being a hater again #there are more I wanted to say but I forgor them after writing till this point so uh

Apparently I timed my quitting perfectly

#work tag #the new manager is absolutely awful and since hes taken over nothings been done properly #the managers that are left are sick of everything they barely do anything on shift the slackers are worse than ever #the newbies dont take anything seriously or have any common sense whatsoever so its just completely downhill #we had an EHO visit last week on the boss' close had lost a star on our rating as a result so the area manager came in a couple days later #he bollocked our boss for the way hes been acting but then he went right back to being a prick #so apparently after i left last night the district manager visited and they had to shut the store early for cleaning #but this was after my manager told me that the boss has been blaming everyone for the state of things but #when they offered to close the store and do a deep clean he refused because of money #the district manager was not happy he pulled both managers aside and now theyre gonna have to close the store for a deep clean #but they might also have to shut down temporarily to get everything sorted but the thing is since this new guy took over only about #half of the closing cleaning tasks have been being done because close is usually made up of the slackers and they just dont wanna do #anything properly its been an ongoing issue for months now and now its catching up with them cus theyve got in the habit of not doing it #one of my managers has kept saying he doesnt think the store will last until Christmas but everyone else is sure were gonna be shut #well before that point like its gotten the bad its part of why i quit #anyway i just got the rundown from my coworker who was on close when this all went down last night

Foreseeably, Otto owns me

#I'm loving the second Fu Hua chapters. I'm loving the similarities as well as contrasts between Kevin and Otto #As well as the points in common between MEI and Otto‚ and Kevin and Kallen #I love also the way memories/body/selfhood/being work in Hua‚ Kevin and Otto #It sure is a very Mihoyo topic. I am so often reminded of March‚ Dan Heng‚ Blade and Jingliu #The relationship between Kallen and Otto is so good and so juicy #and again I love how it both recalls and contrasts the one between MEI and Kevin #The play on ideals/understanding/admiration/crafted identity in both dynamics and how different they are nonetheless #and how the consequences of those differences as well as how they enhance the differences and similarities between characters #is soooooo good and soooo juicy and I'm loving it #I loved that Hua pointed out the Kevin/Otto similarities and how it made sense that they worked together #despite how different they initially seem‚ but I keep thinking of the similarities between MEI and Otto #MEI is for now one of my favourite characters in this. I loved that she is very similar to Otto #yet she also seems even more ruthless and... creepy? And I say this in a good way haha I love how Hua is constantly presented #to be on edge when it comes to her and how that even jeopardises her relationship with Kevin whenever he tries to establish a connection #or deepen their friendship‚ but at the same time we are repeatedly told that Hua was once friends with Otto for many many years #(for now at least I don't know if it will end up being a lie)#If it's true‚ I would find extremely intriguing the difference between MEI and Otto in this Hua dynamic light #Super funny to see how Mihoyo keeps coming back to these topics present in Otto. They truly love him haha. No wonder. Such good topics #I am not there yet but I think this matter of choice/identity/selfhood may be present too in Kalpas #At least that's what I thought when I got there in ER #It's very interesting to see the different ramifications of a similar topic and situation #and how the different characters make the same thing different with diverse consequences #I talk too much

something else I really love about feast and famine is how wwx isn't all 'wow lan zhan you're the best I can't believe you've been putting up with me I'm SO grateful you're literally perfect even though I'm so needy thank you so so so much' bc that sentiment arises in a lot of fics that handle his trauma or mental health and it's SO tiresome not to mention ooc. like it's not there for no reason bc wwx did express gratitude in canon and lwj IS a really good and supportive partner, but it's really refreshing to see wwx in a stable and reliable enough relationship where, except that one time he was triggered and panicking, he literally never once doubted that lwj would support and stand with him, nor did he ever feel the need to even thank lwj for being a good partner, even through the extremely heavy and difficult work of supporting him through what happened

and they DO communicate a lot, it's more that the gratitude is left unsaid because it's mutually understood to be unnecessary. and as much I'm in favor of them communicating their gratitude to each other, I feel like this dynamic for them is so much healthier and more mature and illustrates how strong their relationship is and how much they trust each other. also the idea of lwj as this...saintlike martyr who nobly supports and reassures a self-hating wwx is really tiring. he has his own struggles to be sure, but he has them away from wwx and the writing doesn't frame him as some tragic, self-sacrificing hero for it. like I love lwj but that's what it should be about, right? this was always going to be wwx's story first and foremost and I really appreciate works that let it be that

#like lwj freaking out to his brother or telling jyl about his trauma around his mom and going to support groups #that was so necessary and important for him. and wwx probably knew he was doing it. but he and the narrative didn't make it wwx's problem #OR make a big deal of not making it wwx's problem which is the more annoying and common trend #one of my early criticisms abt this fic was actually that they were TOO well-adjusted and healthy #wwx's past trauma seems to be limited to whatever made him scared of dogs and getting disowned as a teenager #which is awful to be sure but not rly comparable to canon #and in fact I was surprised his canon suicidal tendancies never showed up #but I think he was in a safe and supportive enough environment that that also made sense #like. everything possible that could be done was done. lwj came back from his trip. jyl was with him from that first morning #jc came in to help even though he fucked it up initially I think wwx clearly was really happy to have him there #he didn't have to work or worry about food or money or being alone #not that the current system is perfect obviously. like he did get a bunch of therapy and specialized therapy but #he got medical care immediately which while necessary was ALSO traumatizing and went to support groups which ALSO were horrible/demeaning #but overall compared to canon post-SS #he was able to break down and process everything in a healthy way #instead of suppressing his trauma because he has an obligation to be strong for others or to keep people alive #in canon he doesn't really have that freedom until postres. and then post-travels even #and by then things have faded with time. but I wonder if that makes it easier or harder to process them #esp since most of the people who he was close to back then are all gone #anyway. fic I think about literally constantly but idk if I can reread it all again it's very painful and heavy. like most of it but #the hospital scene is just so horrifying #not my favorite but up there maybe. I certainly regard it higher than a place to hide for exactly the reasons listed in the post #the first sex scene is so cringe tho 😔 I must sound like a maniac. like that post about showing ppl hxh for the first time #but it's so well-written besides that part I PROMISE #suicide tw #just a mention but eh #ficblogging
