This is a strange read, and curiously, there are three or four highlights for me, and they are not exactly the ones you would imagine.

Spoilers after the break...

The first story by Kevin Eastman is in the Mirage section of the book but... well... I'll leave at that... I wouldn't call it the Mirage we knew.

There is a story by Lawson and Lavigne with the Rat King that... it's fun. But, you know... I wouldn't even try to fit it in canon... the amount of continuity physics you need to bend to place this story is not worth the time. Just enjoy as a new story by these two iconic Mirage artists.

This other story by Tristan H. Jones and Paul Harmon requires more analysis. I'll revisit it on my gang wars video and try to give it more context... but unfortunately... it's just too vague. All I can say for sure is that it happens in the future of that incomplete saga, but the narrator just takes too many artistic choices to be taken at face value.

Also... I believe this is the first official (frontal) appearance of Agent Bishop (unless I got the character wrong, but Jones already tried to introduce him in this saga). I think he is still holding on to it, and I really hope he gets to tell his story. I wouldn't mind a mini-series... just saying!

The Volume 3 story was... not for me. The dialogue alone felt tired.

The Archie adventure was short, eventful, and funny... and it looks amazing too!

In just four pages a new character was introduced and... a new love story was implied! And it's not just a gratuitous cameo... this is a funny sequence.

The Saturday Morning Adventures (the de facto 87 story) looks amazing as usual, but I didn't find the story that interesting. However, it started a theme that would run across most of the stories in this special after this one: Master Splinter.

The 2003 story is a... loose canon?

Hun is Slash, and Shredder is back... so make of that what you want. All I'm going to say is that this felt a lot like watching the beginning of a 2003 episode, with the narration setting the tone.

The 2012 story was one of the least interesting in the previews, but I have to say... it was probably one of the best. It brought back a villain and it technically serves as an excuse to continue the series?

But to me the best thing about the story is the art. I am surprised Ciro Nieli didn't do more comic book work for the Turtles all these years. In fact, if they somehow decided to continue the 2012 universe in 2D in this style... I'm all in. Well, who am I kidding... I would be in anyway... but this looks amazing.

Andy Suriano did probably the most interesting story in the book. Now, I am not sure if his style doesn't translate well to static panels or what the problem is with the comic format... but it doesn't matter... this small story brought in a lot of things that ended on the editing floor after the show's second season was reduced to a few more episodes. There was a rumor about a female turtle, and not only it is here in all its glory, but there is also a brother?

And come on... it's so Lou Jitsu to die with a cliffhanger.

There are two IDW stories. One is another Splinter story, but the other one is perhaps one of the best in this book.

The Ronda Pattison story takes place just before the Armageddon game, and it shows the five turtles in full sibling dynamic (even Jennika). It was refreshing to see these turtles having fun for a change.

There are no stories by the new team, but... well... that's just starting.

Q&A Answers and other notable moments from the July 4th Twitter Space:

-Martin says that in 1982, Kevin is alive and well, and is "probably still working for Bunny Smiles Incorporated."

-Someone asks if Brian would be a "film bro", and Martin says that Brian would be the kind of person to enjoy recording stuff to make personal films, comparing it to the way some kids will like to film a bunch of random shit and put it together as a "movie." He says, "I think Brian would be very into films, and trying to do his own stuff. I don't think he would have gotten too artistic with it, I think he would just fuck with common or mainstream movies at the time. But he would still love going to the theatre, probably. He would be that kinda guy."

Kyle says he thinks Brian would be really into the MCU.

-Someone asks, "What would you say was the biggest setback in development for The Walten Files?" to which Martin answers, "I Think we can all agree that by far, the biggest setback there was ever been for the series was the Episode 5 script." He goes on to explain that what is now episode 5 was originally the shortest segment of what was going to be The Walten Files 4, "... because it was the segment I cared the least about. And now, it's probably one of the most emotionally dense episodes in season one."

-Someone asks what animal Boozoo would be, if he was one. Kyle answers "A lion!" and Martin agrees emphatically.

-Coral asks about what the BSI Crew's favorite animatronics would be. Martin says that Susan's favorite animatronic is Banny, because that was the first animatronic they built. Charles' favorite animatronic is Sha, Rose's favorite would "probably be Bon", Jack's favorite would be Sha or Boozoo, and Felix's favorite would also probably be Sha or Boozoo.

-Someone asks, "Did Brian have any qualifications at all [to work at BSI] or was he just fucking around?" and Martin answers, "He was just fucking around."

-Someone asks about Jack's relationship with Linda. Martin answers, "They were friends! There's no- no more than that. Jack didn't know her very well, so, yeah."

-Someone asks for a Jack and Rosemary Walten fun fact, and Martin answers, "They smoke inside their homes! They smoke a lot, they smoke everywhere. They- they probably smoked while Sophie was a little baby. Maybe- maybe not, I don't know. But, a lot of people in the 70s--" then Coral interrupts, saying that they hope Rosemary didn't smoke while she was pregnant.

-Someone asks, "Does Jack Walten ever think to stop smoking?" and Martin answers, "No he doesn't! Thank you for joining the spa--" and immediately ends the twitter space.

Making your way downstairs, you glanced at your watch before walking into the kitchen where your husband was getting a glass of water.

“Raymond, I need to head out to work, there’s been some problems at the office.”

He turned around.

“Is everything alright?”

“Yeah, I think it’s more so just some of the interns accidentally filed some paperwork wrong. Are you heading to work today?”

“Yes, I will be there all day.”

You nodded, walking over and kissed his cheek before making your way across the kitchen to grab your coffee.

“I’ll come by after I’m finished.”

With that you jogged away, having to get to the office as quickly as you possibly could.

Making your way in, you found the interns lined up against the wall, and you furrowed your brows a little bit in confusion.

“Why’re you stood there?” You asked.

“Thomas told us to stand here until you get back sir.” One replied.

You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose.

“This isn’t a military training camp, go on, go sit down in the conference room.”

They nodded, making their way over there and you walked behind Thomas, lightly hitting the back of his head.

“Be nicer to them.”

“They could’ve messed up big time.” He huffed.

“This is their first job, give them all some credit. If you’ve got all the files we’ll go through them with them all and explain the process again.”

“Alright alright.”

You took one half of the interns while he took the other half to a different room.

You spent an hour carefully explaining everything step by step by step with them, and getting them to show you when you had shown them.

“Just remember if you’re not sure always ask, even if you come ask me, there’s no such thing as a stupid question. If you have to ask it a hundred times then you asked a hundred times.”

One of the interns put her hand up, and you smiled at her, dismissing the others and letting her come over.

“I’m not entirely sure what to do afterwards…”

“That’s alright Sophie, let’s go have a look.”

She nodded, following after you with the files in her hands.

“Everything is set up in alphabetical order, so you’ll want to find the first letter of the file, so if you set them all down and pick up the first one.”

You carried on showing her what to do, and you made sure she completely understood everything.

Making your way back to the office you wrote a step by step listen, and you taped it to the wall next to the cabinet, letting them all know it was there.

While you were there you decided to do some work, and went back to your desk.

Not long after you started your work your phone chined and you picked it up.

Jake: come bring me lunch please!

Laughing a little bit, you sent a reply back.

You: sure I’ll be there soon.

Putting your work away, you went to pick up Jakes favourite food, then to the precinct.

Heading up, you made your way to his and dropped the bag down on the desk, placing your hand on his head, ruffling his hair a little bit.

“Yes you’re the best!”

“You’re always broke. Seriously Jake, how to you survive?”

“Hey! I’m not broke!” He huffed.

Laughing a little, you took the fries from the bag and stood there eating while you listened to him talk about what he had been up too.

He stopped eating and looked up at you.

“Where the hell have you been anyway? It’s been ages.”

“Sorry, I’ve been busy with work. Then we’ve been redecorating our home, so that’s taken a lot of free time as well.”

“When am I going to meet this husband? I can’t believe you got married without me…” he pouted.

You laughed softly, patting his head a couple of times.

“I know, I’m sorry, but when we got married I wasn’t actually out as gay to mom or you, so I thought it was easier.”

You stood up, excusing yourself to go and wash your hands and you came back, making your way to the captains office instead and knocked on the door.

When he looked up you smiled at him, leaning against the doorframe.

“How’s work going?”

“It is the same as every other day. Did you fix the mistake?”

You nodded your head, making your way inside.

You sat down in the chair opposite him, explaining to him what had happened, and what you did to help them fix the mistake.

He listened as you spoke while doing his own work.

“Oh, by the way Jake keeps asking who I’m married to.”

“Have you not told him?”

“Well, I decided it was your choice. You’re his boss.”

“You are his brother.”

You laughed a little bit, nodding your head.

“Yeah, but as my husband it’s always up to you if we tell him.”

“YOU MARRIED HOLT?!”

You spun around, giving your younger brother a sheepish look.

A few more people crowded around, and you pointed to the man who was behind you.

Getting up you ran off with a laugh as Holt called for you not to let him handle all of that alone

Really good book and explained it all super well, really good rep tbh and even though everyone is messy in some way you feel for (almost) every character 8/10 (trans men, trans women, non binary, lesbian, gay and bisexual characters)

Dear Wendy by Ann Zhao

We follow Jo and Sophie during their first year at Wellesley College, who meet in a class and become friends, but what they don't know is that they also know each other online, as Wendy and Wanda and they don't exactly get along swimmingly. Oh, they are both also aroace, and become closer after telling each other that

If you're aspec or questioning it or just want to know more about it and what we go through in this world as aroace people? This is the book for you, it's so good and so relatable 10/10 (Asexual, aromantic, bisexual, lesbian, pansexual, demisexual and non binary characters)

I Wish You All the Best by Mason Dever

Ben comes out to their parents and gets kicked out, making them call their sister who they hadn't seen in 10 years to pick them up, and even if their life is shitty in that moment, happier days are to come

I loved this story so so much but I wanted to kill the parents. Really well written and the sibling and friends are so loveable! 9/10 (non binary, queer, pansexual and bisexual characters)

I'll Be Home For Christmas by Mason Deaver

Takes place 4 months after iwyatb at christmas time, Ben wants to surprise Nathan but a snowstorm gets in the way... Or does it?

Loved this short story so much! You just fall in love with Ben and Nathans love! And wow in both books I could relate to Ben's anxiety so much it was scary 10/10 (non binary, queer, pansexual and bisexual characters)

Like real people do by E. L. Massey

Eli, a disabled 18 year old who loves to skate runs into Alex, a 19 year old famous hockey player, and they quickly become friends, but soon develop feelings for each other and must figure out if an out guy and a closeted guy can be together

Adorable, just fucking adorable I love this book so much and the two main characters and their friends are absolute sweethearts, was thinking this book wasn't going to be for me cause hockey isn't something I like but wow was I wrong, so glad I gave this book a chance 10/10 (gay and bisexual characters)

Like you've nothing left to prove by E. L. Massey

Second book of "Like real people do" and follows Eli and Alex navigate their relationship as well as their passions, hockey and figure skating

If you loved the first book this is just a continuation of it and again, so adorable and loveable, just a delight to read 10/10 (gay and bisexual characters)

Milo and Marcos at the end of the world by Kevin Christopher Snipes

His last year of high school and a familiar face appears after three years. Milo remembers Marcos from camp and hasn't stopped thinking about him, and maybe the same can be said about Marcos?

This was a rollercoaster to say the least lol but very interesting read, and Milo and Marcos are very lovable characters (even though stubborn sometimes but who isn't?) And Vanessa is the best friend anyone can have. Although the religious themes was sometimes too much, but understandable why it was put there 8/10 (gay characters)

The Passing Playbook by Isaac Fitzsimons

Spencer changes schools since the previous one wasn't accepting of his transgender identity, and the new one is more open to queer people, and they also have a football/soccer team which he would love to join

Such a sweet story and I just loved all the kids, Spencer and Justice are so cute together, all the teammates are super nice and Theo (Spencer's autistic younger brother) is absolutely adorable, really nice read 10/10 (Transgender, queer, gay and bisexual characters)

They hate each other by Amanda Woody

Dylan and Jonah don't get along, they hate each other, but after deciding to fake date to get everyone in school off their backs by saying they would make the perfect couple, over time they might realize that they were right

Loved this book so much!!! Wanted to adopt Jonah and hug Dylan, protect these boys at all costs, and Jonahs sisters were too adorable, even though it had heavy topics it was really well done (yeah a lot of scenes almost made me cry, both in a bad way ans good way lol) 10/10 (bisexual, transgender and asexual characters)

Upside Down by N. R. Walker

Jordan might be asexual but he isn't sure, so Merry his best friend takes him to an aro/ace meeting to learn and get some answers, and he might just get them and more...

There are no fucking words for this book, but I will say that you will not stop smiling and laughing and crying throughout, all the characters are so genuine and lovable and I want to know them irl, could not recommend enough 10/10 (gay, lesbian, asexual, aromantic, bisexual, poly)

And why I love them...

So, I have watched the 1999 version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" probably 20 times over the years. It was one of favorite movies when I was like 15 and those movies stay with a person. Anyway my favorite couple has switched almost every decade, like clockwork. First, it was Demetrius and Helena, for the messy blush of unrequited love, something wished and hoped for and, against all odds, obtained (if somewhat unrealistically and certainly magically, but hey, that just means fairies exist, so what's so bad about that?) <3 Plus Calista Flockhart was/is absolutely hilarious in this movie (oh, spite! oh hell! 😂) and Christian Bale was one of my first crushes. Pshaw, who is this Timothée Chalamet you all speak of? I know but one (1) Theodore Laurence and his name is Christian Bale 😍 Then, it was Lysander and Hermia, for the comedy of it all and the appeal of forbidden love and the way they aggravated poor Theoden King to the point that he was going to lock fair Hermia up in a nunnery (which forever amuses me as a metaphor for death), and the angst and excitement of persevering through Puck-induced magic tricks and hot jealousy and just listen, Dominic West and Anna Friel are fantastic in this, top tier at speaking and selling all those Shakespearean lines like they're totally normal in 1800s Tuscany. Like, really good. In a way that's not just fun to watch/listen to but also has you forgetting that oh yeah, they just went for that creative choice. Let's speak Shakespeare and ride bicycles. No irony about it (well for the most part - looking at you, Kevin Kline 😂) But here I am, changing my mind again...and this time, it's Theseus and Hippolyta who are claiming my whole heart <3 <3 <3 And not just because Sophie Marceau is a forever favorite or because I've only just realized that David Strathairn might be one of the finest actors of our time (seriously, what else did I miss while I was dismissing him as "oh you know, that guy from whatever"). Watching their scenes, I'm just so into it. Mature love portrayed in such a soft and delicate way. The amount that's unspoken is off-the-charts layered gorgeousness. The tiny moments between them. The micro glances, the mutual understandings, the realization that when they're in a group scene, it's still just them <3 AND THEY DANCE AT THE END 😍 Ughhhhhhh add to the OTP list, because I'm suddenly obsessed. Give it another ten years and I'll probably be all about Titania and Nick. But that's when we'll know I've gone too far...and you all have my full permission to smack me across the face and say "ma'am, stop that" 😂😂😂

"They found the man ... Kevin?" Soth asked

"Yeah, or rather, their Israeli branch found him, on a plane bound for Egypt with, get this, 'card catalog boxes made of Olive wood', specifically Israeli Olive wood..." Joey answered.

"Israeli..." Soth repeated...

"We'll go over it later..." Joey said, "it's too complicated to explain quickly."

"Anyway, they found him..." Soth said.

"Yes, the moment he landed, the Egyptian authorities handed him over, along with the plane, and what was in the cargo hold, a few hundred..." Joey said.

"No, they were empty, apparently Kevin knew there was a problem, and he was actually going to try to transfer the... things ... to new boxes." Joey said.

"That's insane; he'd be dead before he knew what hit him." Soth said, incredulous.

"Well, from the sound of things, Kevin had the 'insane' part covered. I'd like to believe he didn't know what he was getting into, but." Joey said.

"Yes, I agree, he was playing with forces well beyond his understanding." Soth agreed.

"Sophie and Aiden simply want no part of the house; too many bad memories, and Kevin is now a single man, she annulled the marriage." Joey said.

"And so...a house for sale..." Soth said...

"For one tenth it's original value; it's usually..other employees that wind up moving into them." Joey said.

"I wouldn't live there..." Soth said, looking at the house.

"Me either, and I'd bet David, William and Ryder wouldn't either, who would?" Joey asked.

"No one but someone who needed a house cheaply and quickly." Soth said.

They both walked away from the house

"Let's go; David and William should know, and I think I should go see Ryder tomorrow, do you want to come with me?" Soth asked, happy to leave the house behind.

"Actually, Mitzi is sending me some emails; there's some written text they're having trouble with, and their usual person is out sick." Joey said.

Chapters 40-50 complete. That's almost 10% of the novel, hahah

Anyway, this covers the whole Aquarius press conference and missile crisis business.

Clarified in these chapters: the 10 stars. The manhwa has this term appear in the background, but it's never really explained. I even thought this was a rank within the cadre structure, since it's listed in between Saints and cadre captains. In fact, this refers to 10 specific people who are such amazing super disciples that having one versus not having one has a notable impact on a god's power/influence. Yooha is one of them, and she's extremely competent even when bogged down by low faith.

Speaking of which, Yooha is introduced properly, and she definitely feels very different compared to the manhwa. Now, this might just be because the manhwa hasn't gotten to her stuff (her arms, etc), but the novel does give a very different impression. For one, her competence is played up (meaningless as it is, given the power scaling), and she's presented as being smarter or at least more levelheaded compared to Sungjae.

In the manhwa, Sungjae is noted as understanding about Lee Geon being a god faster than Hugo and Kevin, plus he has several moments of thinking well on his feet, so he comes across as being fairly smart. But in the novel, he completely loses his head when Lee Geon is involved, and you get the opposite situation -- Yooha guesses about what happened in the Demon Tower just from seeing Lee Geon in action and understanding how strong he is. She's able to immediately make that mental jump. Additionally, if we assume the author didn't just forget, she's even able to guess that Lee Geon can extra data by hitting Aquarius (since there's no reason for him to have stopped to explain this to her). So she's presented as both very strong and very smart.

Aside from that, I'm a bit surprised how much Aquarius goes to bat for Sophie, seemingly concerned not just with her survival but her overall well-being. Since Lee Geon pov talked a lot of shit about how Saints are basically servants to the divine gods, it's a surprising angle for a minor villain (of sorts).

With that said, I do want to complain a bit.

First, we got what is the first instance where I genuinely wonder if the translation fucked up because it's quite hard to understand the background details about Yoon Shiwoo during his appearance. The descriptions seem to get confused between him and one of the guys in his group, in a way that I assume the author wouldn't have been unclear about? Yoon Shiwoo was mentioned way back in the first few chapters, so he must have been planned at least to some extent. The translation does have occasional issues, especially with genders of characters who haven't appeared yet (Haize had male pronouns for quite a while, and so do all the gods, including Freya and Aquarius), but this is the first case where I just can't even tell what is going on.

Second, I have to say that the author's worldbuilding is sometimes just so... painfully slapdash... In particular, it's like he wants to have his cake and eat it too with regard to Lee Geon's reputation. It's repeatedly discussed that Lee Geon's achievements have been played down or co-opted by the other Saints, the general consensus is that he was only B rank and that he only won because the Saints were buffing him, etc, BUT then we constantly get told that basically everyone is secretly a fanboy for him. Like at the press conference, lots of cadre captains (generals) were gathered from different temples, but once he appears, everyone is awed because they're all his fans but like... which is it? Having is be so exaggerated both ways is kinda hard to understand.

I mean, Lee Geon in general is pretty ridiculous, but... yeah.

Susan was cleaning the restaurant, then knocked over a cup "I'm doing my crap, I hope I don't knock over a cup and- oh God no! I can hear him he's coming!" Suddenly, the lights in the restaurant flickered and the sound of heavy footsteps grew louder as they approached the dining area. Susan’s heart pounded in her chest as Bon the animatronic rabbit, walked into view.

"W hy th e f uck d id yo u bre ak the m ug y ou du mb s hit, wh at th e fu ck!" Bon's animatronic eyes flashed with anger as he approached Susan. His metal joints creaked as he moved towards her, each step echoing ominously through the dark restaurant  "boss please it's been 25 years, I don't want to do this anymore" “Susan pleaded with Bon, her voice filled with desperation. "No I- go a nd clea n th is up yo u pie ce of s hit!" Bon's animatronic jaws opened and closed, his voice box letting out a distorted laugh. "You won't give me my salary" “Susan looked up at him, determination in her eyes. "Sh ut t he fu ck up". Bon then looked at the cash register and opened it. As the cash register sprang open, Bon's eyes flicked towards it, "Act ually I'm gon na do thi s GTA sty le, he re yo u I'm g onna s teal so me mo ney" Susan watched as Bon started taking money from the cash register. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she realized what was happening. "Wh- why would you do that?" she exclaimed.

"Bcau se I do n't lik e yo u, y ou fuc king pie ce of ol d s hit yag abo ripo ff looki ng moth erfu cker. Ho pe yo u sh it yo ur pan ts a nd c um in pe e!"

"Guys look!" Molly said as both Susan and Bon see three people with bottles of alcohol around them. Susan quickly looks over her shoulder at the three people Molly indicated, while Bon's head snaps in their direction. The three people were all holding bottles of alcohol and appeared to be drunk.

Susan couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as she saw the trio, while Bon's animatronic eyes fixated on them with an unnerving gaze. "Bon" then transformed into his normal self and walked out of Bon's Burgers "should we stop him?" Molly said then Susan shrugged

"Hello! I'm the car from Cars Two, hello? Hello?" Kevin tried calling out as the rest were annoyed "stop talking, just shut the fuck up, look at this house"

Then then drunkenly walked over to the house and Ed opened the door "dad there's people here!" Ed didn't see Sophie

"Hey" Jenny said as she was sluring "this is a cool place"

"Thank you same over here, so today let me introduce you to all my friends this is- this is my dad" Jack was next to Ed "yo what's fucking good I smoke weed for a living" Keven "I don't like this honestly, like-" unsure of what to think. "I don't care, you are staying the night we love you here! I will ██ your ██ If I have too" Jack said then handed him a piece of candy "here's a candy that makes you rock hard my guy"

Keven was scared

"I don't care, you will be here horny or not! I will watch you through the window!" Keven gave him a thumbs up "I am horny as well, do you see these images I ██ on all of them!"

Jenny's blunt remark and carefree attitude caught everyone's attention, causing them to glance back at her. Suddenly, she pointed down the road and exclaimed, "Hey guys, look! It's a white man!" They spotted "Bon" walking down the street, and in their intoxicated states, an idea sprung to mind

With a mischievous grin, Jenny snatched the radio from the house and quickly turned it on, blasting Shostakovich Waltz 2 at full volume. "Bon", exhausted from the events of the night, felt like he had reached his limit. As he walked down the street, he heard the distant sound of Shostakovich Waltz 2 blaring from somewhere nearby

With a scowl on his face, Bon muttered to himself, "I've h ad en oug h of th is non sen se."

Just as "Bon" was about to turn away, he was suddenly interrupted by a loud, drunk voice. It was Kevin, stumbling through his words

Kevin had a smirk plastered across his face as he shouted out, "I'm sorry, I don't speak Russian!" He was slurring his words, clearly intoxicated

"Bon's" eyes fixed on Kevin, irritation etched on his face. The group of drunken revelers spotted a stick lying on the ground. Without missing a beat, they eagerly picked it up and began to chase "Bon" with it. Giggles and laughter filled the air as they pursued him with the stick in hand. The tables turned as "Bon" found himself backed into a corner by the drunken group. He transformed back into animatronic form, his eyes flashing with anger. With a menacing tone, he growled out, "Yo u do ne fu ck ed up no w, I do n't ca re yo u w ill f ail- y ou wil l fal l do wn to me!"

Not a single thought was in there head

The drunken group was far too carefree to think about the consequences of their actions. They stared at "Bon," now in animatronic form, with a mixture of drunken confusion and amusement

"I've gai ned the pow er of v oice chan ger! Wh at's goo d! I ca n bec ome m ore sc ary, y ou kn ow wh at? N ah. I ca n be fuc ki ng- I ca n be T P ain, yo wh at's go od It is I, T P ain. Loo k g uys I c an hav e th e fu nny m ic, I d on't ca re. I w ill lit era lly k ill yo u in yo ur sle ep! I c an go ev en hig her I sou nd lik e I s hit ed 17 bric ks! Vi be ch eck!"

Kevin, in his drunken stupor, fixed his gaze on "Bon" and slurred out, "Look at your ass! You're built like a rope-ly ass!"

The others chuckled at Kevin's blunt comment, finding amusement in his comment, The tension in the air heightened as "Bon" felt threatened by the group's antics. Kevin, still stumbling his words, chimed in with a wicked grin, "Please for the love of god I'm going to piss on your cactus, I will shit on your hogala! You can't stop me!"

"Bon's" eyes widened in panic as Kevin's words sunk in.

"NO T MY AR EGAR A! ANYT HIN G BU T TH AT!"

The air around Jack was filled with the sound of his snoring, causing Rosemary to grimace in annoyance

Feeling frustrated, Rosemary muttered to herself, "Goddamn it, Jack snores like a chainsaw. It's driving me insane." In her frustration, Rosemary felt an overwhelming urge to end it all, just to escape the noise. Meanwhile, Jack remained blissfully unaware of Rosemary's distress, filled with loud snores and muttered talking "ooga booga, ooga booga, I am your repressed sexually". Rosemary slowly looked at him as he kept snoring. Jack's muffled voice broke the silence in the room, and he mumbled out, "I want to masturbate, and eat rocks.."

His words, though incoherent, echoed in the room, adding an extra layer of absurdity to the already chaotic atmosphere. Rosemary rolled her eyes at Jack's sleep-talking, silently wondering what was going through his mind.

The group of ghosts huddled around the burger joint board, engaging in a debate about what to watch. Brain suggested family guy season 12, but Ashley had a different opinion.

"But I like South Park better," Ashley countered, her preference clear. Charles, with a sly grin on his face, chuckled softly to himself. He whispered to the others, "Haha, little does he know I'm going to make them watch Marley And Me."

He confidently inserted the tape, ready to subject his fellow ghost to an emotional rollercoaster of a movie.

"Bon" became a furry that night, and let's just say. He killed himself

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #142-144

AUGUST - OCTOBER 2023

The Turtles have a final showdown against Barlow and then follow their own paths.

While reading these issues I felt that something was missing. I don't like falling for "borrowed" opinions, but I do feel like there are just too many characters in this book and not enough development.

This isn't just a Sophie Campbell problem, I feel like Tom Waltz also struggles with the size of this universe. So what I feel needs to happen, is something that can give all the characters their own space in this world, with their own motivations. This is something that usually works well at the big two publishers (at least until they forget what they were trying to do).

In any case, many things happen in these issues, not only is the end of Barlow, but also the return of Groundchuck and Dirtbag, now as one being. They die again.

The arc also seems to close all the loose ends from Venus' origin and Leatherhead's posession.

By the end of the saga, as I predicted, several characters went their ways. This is actually great in terms of separating the huge cast.

Alopex and the weasels leave for Alaska (I am sure they'll return, or at least, Raph will see them again).

Raph goes on a road trip with his bike.

Donnie and Venus stay studying the whole Armaggon thing.

Mikey and Jennika stay in the city.

Leo returns to Northampton (Donnie will join him later).

I am sure this won't last long...

As for the art, I like Gavin Smith, but I am not particularly fond of his Venus. Her eyes are too big and her... breasts... are there. Since Venus is technically not a Turtle, I guess that is why she "has them", but it is a little confusing... frogs are not mammals... am I thinking too much about this?

Donatello and Michelangelo are searching for Leonardo with orders to meet back at the lair in an hour. Splinter and Raphael prepare to head back while Angel and April stay at the hospital ● the doctor says a lot of sword wounds have been coming in lately, and he wonders why that is before he goes off to operate on Casey

● Splinter and the three remaining turtles meet back at the lair ● Donatello presents Splinter with Leo's katana, which they found, confirming their fears that the Foot have him ● surprisingly, another clue has been written on the wall: East River Midnite Can Help U! Hob ● which means Hob knows where they live ● Kitsune has Leo on some sort of stone table ● when Kitsune puts on the fox mask, she transforms into a fox ● she tells Leo, "I pose no threat to you. I am simply here to guide you…" ● he has some sort of horrible dream of being frightened of Splinter, and of Shredder saving him ● brainwash Leo time! ● back at the hospital, Angel tells April of some of her backstory ● doctor takes April and Angel to Casey's room. He's still on a ventilator and everything. amazingly no vital organs were damaged, but he did suffer significant trauma, especially to his abdomen. doctor also says Casey won't play hockey anymore ● here comes Casey's dad. oops, and he overhears Angel say, "You know it ain't right, April. A good guy like Casey don't deserve to suffer like this… but that loser dad of his sure as hell does." ● the dad turns around and leaves before they notice him ● Splinter and his boys heading to meet with Hob ● Hob is there… as is Slash

Synopsis: April, Angel, Splinter and Raphael rush Casey to the hospital while Donatello and Michelangelo search the area around the docks for Leonardo. Paralleling the scene, Shredder, Karai and Alopex rush Leonardo back to one of the Foot's hideouts. April and Angel arrive at the hospital and get Casey inside; Splinter and Raph head home to meet Donnie and Mikey. Arriving at their hideout, Shredder dismissed Karai and Alopex and brings Leo to Kitsune. Casey is brought to an operating room while Leo is brought to a room Kitsune has prepared for a magic ritual.

At the Turtles' home, Donnie and Mikey present the only clue they could find to Splinter, one of Leo's katanas. However, they also show him the message they found scrawled on their wall when they arrived, an invitation from Hob to meet near the East River at midnight. At the Foot's hideout, Kitsune uses powerful dark magic to warp Leonardo's memories, altering them so that Splinter appears to be his enemy and the Shredder his ally. He even hallucinates that Splinter has killed his brothers, leaving him devastated.

In the hospital waiting room, Angel tells April about some of her and Casey's history – how their dad's were friends who had them around the same time, letting them grow up together. Angel tells April how she lost her mother in a car accident and didn't cope well, taking to running with the street gange the Purple Dragons. It was Casey that kept her from getting too deep into the gang lifestyle and winding up in jail or dead. The doctor brings them into Casey's room and tells them his condition is stable but he will likely never play hockey again. April wonders if they should call Casey's dad, but Angel already told her dad to tell him, saying he'd probably be too drunk to care anyways. Casey's dad, who was about to enter the room, overhears, and leaves.

Splinter, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo arrive at the meeting point and find Hob with Slash. Hob tells them he knows where Leonardo is, and he can help them get him back. Hob says he can sense tension in the city escalating, and they need to choose sides. He offers to partner up with the Turtles, despite their past altercations. Splinter says if he really can lead them to Leonardo, he will consider the offer. At the Foot's hideout, Kitsune's work is complete, and Leonardo accepts the Shredder as his new master.

Things that I wish had been properly explored in the final season of This Is Us, instead of focusing on Kate and Toby's endless fights, Kate becoming a saint who could do no wrong, Kevin being jealous over Madison's boyfriend, and Deja and Malik's teenage soap opera:

- Kevin experiencing some professional success, both in acting or with Big Three Homes, instead of having his acting career being written off and hearing secondhand about the nonprofit doing well

- Kevin and Madison successfully co-parenting with the six-year-old version of Madison and Nicky, because those kids were adorable. Also more of Kevin with the preteen kids.

- Sophie and Kevin being successfully married, and what their life was like as Kevin becomes more of a caretaker to both Rebecca and Miguel and his own brood

- Kevin, Madison, Sophie, Elijah, and all their kids becoming a sort of postmodern tribe that has to do everything together, apparently. The possibilities here are endless and we barely got a glimpse of them!

- Madison having another child with Elijah, how Kevin feels about that, and he and Sophie not having any children themselves

- Sophie hated LA. Why? Explaaaaaain, guys.

- Toby and his endgame wife and how she gets along with his family

- Toby experiencing some professional success. He gave up his dream for Kate and she got everything she wanted, and then they split up anyway. I think he deserved a bit more of what he wanted, too.

- Cassidy and Kevin's friendship, and how she got to a better place mentally

- Nicky and his adorable wife who we did not see nearly enough of

- More of Tess and Annie as adults. Some version of Annie should get a storyline.

- Toby and Kate as grandparents

- More of Adult Hailee

- Franny and Nicky as adults, since they are the only grandkids we did not see grown up

- Some explanation of how Jack kept Nicky a secret and what Nicky was doing after he came home.

- I'd like to see more of Rebecca and Jack in the afterlife, but what we got was actually perfect.

I know the season was structured the way it was in order to do the solo episodes and give Alexandra Breckenridge time to show up. But they didn't do nearly enough with Sophie once they had her, even though that's when Kevin's life got really interesting and they spent way too much time in the contemporary timeline. Kevin and Madison were fighting over where the twins spent Thanksgiving for about four episodes. Come on, guys. Speed it up!

Overall, I'm not unsatisfied about how things ended up, and obviously I loved Jack and Rebecca reuniting Titanic-style. But we could have had more.

Also, I had lots of issues with the show over the last two or three years....but I miss the Pearsons.
