Finally gave my guy an updated ref and MUCH needed twink death. We learn and grow guys. I’ve been enjoying this ‘paint’ style too, drawing all on one layer is very therapeutic and you’ll probably see more of it, it’s kinda gnarly and captures their essence well.

Random character/design notes:

Lolligag is a wandering concept in lore, so I figured to change their arrow markings to compass ones.

The ‘wishbone’ wound is inspired by concept art for Silent Hill Ascension but serves lore purposes in that it is the ‘missing part’ they’re always wandering aimlessly through dimensions and zones to find.

Crude scars and infected surgical wounds are from an unknown cause, intentionally making them sorta plushlike in appearance (as well as body type).

Sentient intestines. The amount of straps/belts they wear stops them from getting out through their wounds. They will try.

Perpetually disassociated.

Way shorter now! in the 5’-5’5 range.

Their large wounds are still uncomfortable to have out in the open, so remains masked and geared, my doodles are just playing with their body type but they don’t take their gear off

A friend of mine sent me your latest post and I couldn't stop thinking about how perfectly Vasco would fit into the role of a coat of arms supporter. It got to the point that I just sat down and made a mock-up of the idea; turns out actually, both of them do a great job at it, together. Literally made this account to share the discovery (Extra funny points for them fitting the original colour scheme)

I know this isn't only an autistic thing or always an autistic thing, but over the least few years, I've realized that a lot of my difficulties with humor are not actually with humor itself. If anything, there are specific kinds of humor that really work for me and I end up laughing so much harder and longer than everyone else that it's uncomfortable or embarrassing.

But a lot of popular humor fundamentally relies on saying things that aren't true. Sometimes this is drastic exaggeration, sometimes it's OTT parody that is far more about Being Funny than about the actual thing being parodied, and often it's flatly false and that's what is supposed to be funny about it. And yes, that's a humorless and ungracious way to describe that kind of humor—I don't mean to say that this is objectively bad or something.

I even understand the jokes intellectually. But in the vast majority of cases, there is something deeply unfunny to me about jokes reliant on something that is either obviously untrue or which I firmly disagree with.

I've seen quite a few posts recently about how, in online fandom, mocking your faves or being amused at other people mocking your faves is an important part of fandom culture. But for me, jokes about my faves based on things they actually said or did, or qualities they clearly possess, can be very funny, while jokes that are based on misrepresentations—even obvious, it's-all-in-good-fun-and-we-all-know-the-truth misrepresentations—are tedious at best.

For an easy example: Anakin and Luke Skywalker are two of my main Star Wars faves. Jokes about sand or Anakin mass-murdering children in his good phase or Luke being far less concerned than Han over the revelation of who his twin is or "it's not faaaaair" can still be really funny to me when told right. Jokes about Anakin obviously mind-tricking Padmé or Luke being obviously an eternally optimistic loser twink are intensely annoying to me regardless of context or delivery, not because they're comparably objectionable or anything but because they're not true.

Functionally this does cut out a lot of humor—especially online humor—but it's not that I literally don't understand it. I get it. I just don't get it.

It is impossible to praise rankin bass movies online because these movies are genuinely extremely sappy. Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town at its core is a story about how santa claus and the spirit of christmas were created out of love for other people. You can clown about how "in exchange for a toy, you have to sit on santa's lap and give him a kiss," but like everybody is kissing each other in this movie the whole time. Because it's a fundamental expression of love, and it's a relatively good imitable behavior for children.

The evil winter warlock literally melts into his Not Evil self because Kris gave him a toy train. Winter Warlock then said he felt like he was a cold person at heart, so he could never actually change to be a good person, but Kris says he just has to do it. Just stop ruminating on the past and take steps forward towards goodness now, and you'll get there, and it'll get easier, and that is so real for a 40 minute christmas special from the company known for "uhh creepy stop motion rudolph movie heheh."

So as i mentioned in my pinned post, Undergrowth takes some inspiration from Monster hunter, as me and my friends enjoy it alot, both for how fun it is, and the worldbuilding/ecology. So, i thought it'd be a fun idea to include a whole bunch of Monsters from monster hunter in the world of Undergrowth!

For a bit of context, i made a decision early on when creating the world Undergrowth takes place in, which i call the "Pale Earth" (how original), in which the dominant race are arthropods, so bugs, arachnids, crustaceans, ect. And that mammals aren't a thing anymore, as they died off a long time ago. Here, this bit of art by @the-outsider-moth from years ago kinda explains what i mean.

Some monsters like the Seltas and Seltas queen didn't need to really change all that much to fit in (they're giant bugs afterall) but some more specific ones like Kirin for example would need a redesign to fit into a world primary populated with arthropods (and a small handful of birds, amphibians, fish, and reptiles)

So, i present Kirin!....as a bug. It doesn't have a proper name yet...or ecology, or really anything for that matter besides a design now that i think about it.. I should probably do something about that lol.

I drew the body and did the colors, but the mane and other patches of "fur" was done my good friend @letulthi. You should totally check out their art, (they may or may-not be my go-to person for when I can't think how to Bugify monsters lol)

Oh, and if anyone has any ideas or suggestions for how to "bugify" other monsters, lemme know!

Main character lineup for a western AU of me and @gxdcomplex’s fantasy ocs! Celestine is a rancher, Atticus is his stablehand (who may or may not have a past he doesn’t want to talk about or why he’s run away from it) and Meadowlark is under their care.

[Marrowsnap and Sienna are she/her, Carrion is they/she] And here are the Coyote Sisters’ leaders, the og coyote sisters! They lead a pack of werecoyotes (and all other people willing to travel with them who need a place to belong) and while they try to avoid conflict, they have some mischievous packmates who wind up out of line and go after a rancher’s herd or get into scuffles in town which is a headache for the Sisters to deal with. Because of this they often go head to head with Celestine and Atticus.

Little unfinished comic I made about Sienna and Carrion finding a wanted poster about them. (Gristle was one of their packmates that tried to attack one of Celestine’s cows)
