wait.. i’m literally on here or weibo almost 24/7 ( as you can tell lol ) but I feel like i missed something. i’m seeing clowning related to xz’s photos and how it looks like he is a groom and it’s a wedding photoshoot. the place is also famous for wedding shoots ( allegedly, idk. i’m not from there ) so turtles are imagining again. lol. freakin coincidence that wyb’s GRA photoshoot was done at a wedding shop. plus the “wedding outfits” for weibo night. which is all clowning and galaxy braining.🌌

now, we’re joking around, like where’s yibo? he should be taking photos with his partner.

then i see comments that there is this one song WYB recently listened to. meaning, as recent as when XZ flew to singapore which is called 超人不会飞 (superman can’t fly) by Jay Chou. i know WYB and everyone else is a big fan of Jay Chou but the clowning comes from the timing of when he listened to it. let me get to that first.

here is the song if you wanna listen to it. 🎶

turtles are interpreting it as WYB longing to “fly” to where XZ is and be with him but he can’t because of all his work commitments. he wants to take a breather. thinking about what his life is and the constraints, and at times like this, when they spent days in Beijing, but now they have to be apart, it affects him even more.

however when i read the lyrics, it could also be because he can relate to what jay chou is singing about. here’s the english translation i found here. i have bolded the ones i felt like WYB relates too. literally no need for explanation. just read it. It fits with his status in life so much that it’s almost scary.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with how cpfs are relating this to cpn cause that’s just how it is. But sometimes, there are other reasons why they do what they do.

Fun Facts about Yìzé Hua

A bit Similar to Yaya, Yìzé holds the parent role of the group. With his soft-spoken personality and appearance, no one can find the urge to dislike him in town. So after Zhi had arrived, he was the one who tour guided her.

Lives with his father who is a single parent and a younger sister, he's often helping around the house and others. Morally well disciplined, to which he does the same with his friends and classmates.

After receiving his power ring from Yue (His Power is Gyrokinetic Combat). He seems to had slight difficulty but manages with his new powers afterwards.

He and Xuan are best friends and also slight academic rivalry when it comes to the top highest grade in class. (Which that never ends well).

Last Dance, One More Chance

I have been listening to Wu Bai’s Last Dance on repeat since the very first time I went to watch Someday Or One Day: The Movie at the cinema earlier this month. The song has stuck with me like a spinning record constantly playing in my head ever since.

Partly because of how addictive the song is - I can’t blame Chen Yun Ru for loving the song because it is AN EXPERIENCE - and partly because of the emotional damage the movie has dealt me.

Because I was (and still am) obsessed with the story, I binge watched the brilliant original - the drama from 2019 - over the last weekend. Having enough time to explore the characters as opposed to limited screentime for the movie, I realised how important Last Dance is to the storytelling both in the movie and the drama.

While listening to Last Dance from the same casette allowed Huang Yu Xuan and Li Zi Wei (as well as Xie Zhi Qi) to time travel, nobody else could.

The rules of time travel did confuse me in the beginning and while they were explained towards the end of the drama, there was no explanation as to why only HYX and LZW could travel through time using that casette.

Something else that piques my interest is the choice of host for both HYX and LZW. Yeah, the drama did make a qualifier that the host would look similar to the soul. This, in addition to who gets to travel through time, is a question I cannot shake off my mind at the moment.

There is a potential hypothesis that I want to explore.

Please note that from here onwards this post may deviate from canon and the intention of the scriptwriters.

HYX first listened to the casette while reading through her unsent messages to her deceased boyfriend, Wang Quan Sheng. It is obvious that she was deep in her longing for him (who was actually LZW in WQS’s body). Her third birthday wish that she had made was to be able to see him when she opened her eyes. And true enough, the moment she opened her eyes after losing consciousness on the bus on her way home, the very first person she saw was LZW; the actual LZW himself. HYX had travelled to the past and became CYR in 1998.

Fast forward to 2003, LZW left a prison complex after visiting his best friend Mo Jun Jie. This was about 4 years after CYR’s death. Feeling lost and full of despair himself, LZW listened to Last Dance on the very same casette, wishing that he could turn back time to the time when the three of them were living a happy life. He longed for the time he had spent with the CYR whom he fell in love with (who was really HYX in CYR’s body). His wish was not just for him to see HYX again, but also to prevent the incident involving CYR so that MJJ would be a free man. And so he got his one more chance when the casette allowed him to travel to the future; I’d argue he actually travelled to the past but as opposed to his (2003 LZW’s) past, he travelled to a future past created by him travelling to the future. In essence, this incident created a time loop for both him and HYX.

CYR was... CYR. The depressed teenager who had a bleak outlook in life. What she desperately wanted was not actually to disappear, but to feel like she belonged. She longed for a life wherein her family was not messed up, for a world she would not be disappointed in. But like what HYX told her, it didn’t matter how harsh life was to her, but it’s how she chose to face it. Like a patient who needed therapy, HYX took over the wheels and changed how the world treated her. Last Dance - the song she loved so much - gave her that chance by letting HYX took over her life.

While WQS’ story was not explored in detail, his misery and longing was more than just about his buddy passing away. It was him desperately wanting to live a different life and leave behind all the misery he had to endure. While his life figuratively ended when he drowned and LZW took over his life, wouldn’t he experience what LZW did during the entire time? And we know LZW had some good memories with HYX when he was in charge.

In the end, didn’t they all get their one last chance to live a live they so desperately wanted?

I've watched the SOOD movie and

I liked it !

! SPOILERS AHEAD !

To be completely honest, the plot of the movie did feel a bit convoluted. Most of it made sense by the end, but the movie didn't do a great job at getting across Chen Yun Ru's logic during the incident. I had (and still have) trouble understanding how she would come to the conclusion that her death would bring the loop to an end. She says to Li Zi Wei :

"I'm doing this for you. The outcome will only be different if I disappear."

This totally writes off the idea that she could have done it simply for her husband to not have to go through the pain of losing her.

The only plausible interpretation I have is that Chen Yun Ru realized that her husband was the one who made it possible for both her and Yu Xuan to go back in time. And thus to prevent them from all being in the same timeline/reality, she decided to make it impossible for her husband to reunite with her in the first place? But that seems so farstretched. If this really is the explanation, it may have been more clear if we were given as much time in Yun Ru's headspace as we did in the show. But that was obviously impossible.

That being said, I loved seeing Yu Xuan and Zi Wei being happily in love while being on the same emotional page and finally sharing the same memories. I loved seeing familiar faces, hearing familiar songs, visiting familiar places. And I loved seeing more of Wang Quan Sheng (even if it still wasn't enough!)

I also appreciated that the movie managed to surprise me by going in a completely different direction than the one I was expecting. It obviously made references to the parallel universe/alternate reality that we got to witness in the drama, but it didn't actually impact it in any significant manner. The official subs refer to the movie as an "adaptation" and it does feel very fitting. More so than "sequel".

And I feel like going down this route was the best choice they could have made for the movie. Whether you end up enjoying it or not, it doesn't ruin in any way the original show and its ending. And neither does it negate or modify anything that was canon before it.

Trama: É il 2019. Versione cinese del drama giapponese HANA YORI DANGO, a sua volta tratto da un manga, talmente famoso da essere trasposto anche in un drama thailandese, coreano e taiwanese. Ma la versione cinese è quella con più puntate e aggiunte di trama totalmente inventate da loro. E cosa molto importante la versione cinese sposta la storia all’università, aumentando l’età dei personaggi, mentre nelll’originale erano liceali.

Someday or one day

“Solo se chiedessi di vedermi....”

Questo drama è a mani basse il più complesso, emotivo e ben fatto che ho visto quest’anno. si, per me batte pure Circle 

Vincitore ai 55 ° Golden Bell Awards nelle categorie “ Miglior Serie Televisiva”, “Miglior Attrice Protagonista”, “Miglior Sceneggiatura per una Serie Tv” e “Miglior Programma Innovativo” dopo averlo visto, non posso non essere d’accordo.

La mia opinione sui drama taiwanesi non è delle migliori onestamente: carini si, ma li ho sempre trovati troppo demenziali o assurdi. Poi è arrivato Someday or One Day.

Scrivere un commento senza spoiler è difficile ergo mi limiterò a scrivere i motivi per cui questo è un drama da vedere assolutamente:

1) La storia

Someday presenta una trama complessa, articolata e emotivamente coinvolgente. Impossibile non sentirsi presi dalle vicende dei personaggi, dalla loro storia o emozioni. Caposaldo del drama è l’amore, cosa significhi essere in una relazione, ma c’è spazio per l’importanza della famiglia, l’accettazione di sè, il bullismo, l’omofobia, la giovinezza, i primi amori, il rimpianto e la capacità di lasciare andare il passato che si racchiude nella classica frase “ chiusa una porta si apre un portone.” 

Ci sono momenti strazianti, divertenti ed inquietanti in un mix perfetto che gioca con lo spettatore portandolo a volerne sempre di più.

Certo, data la complessità è un drama da vedere rigorosamente con il cervello impostato su ON. e con il foglio e la penna sotto mano

2) La scrittura e sceneggiatura

Non importa che tu abbia una bella storia tra le mani se non la sai raccontare. Un applauso dunque lo devo fare agli sceneggiatori - gli stessi di Attention, Love e si vede sia per la lunghezza degli episodi , un’ora e 11 minuti a botta, sia per la massima cura che hanno usato nel tratteggiare psicologicamente i personaggi - al regista e a tutti quelli che ci hanno lavorato: il salto nel tempo non è mai un argomento facile e Someday lo porta sullo schermo in un ottica che non avevo mai visto ma che ho trovato molto intrigante e innovativa. 

Someday è come un puzzle dove gli sceneggiatori ti danno tot tessere senza dirti dove vanno e piano piano che le inserisci, il disegno si completa. Ma è impossibile capirci qualcosa e aver chiara la situazione fino a più di metà serie.

3) il cast

Solitamente mi concentro sempre sugli attori ma questa volta il premio lo devo necessariamente dare a Alice Ko per sua capacità di recitare due ruoli diversissimi tra loro, facendomi davvero pensare che fossero interpretate da attrici diverse. Straordinaria.

Come bravissimi sono stati anche gli altri: Greg Hsu - che è diventato la mia nuova fissa del momento - riesce, come la sua collega, a tirare fuori dei personaggi così adorabili e teneri che è impossibile non amarlo a prescindere. 

Nota di merito per Yan Yu Lin, chiamato a interpretare il Capoclasse in un ruolo difficile ma che è riuscito a compiere pienamente. 

4) i personaggi

Assolutamente credibili e umani. Le loro reazioni sono realistiche con le loro caratterizzazioni e con cosa stanno vivendo: la paura, il dolore, l’egoismo, l’amore, il desiderio..tutte le emozioni che vivono passano attraverso l’ottima recitazione, creando dei personaggi realistici e veri.

Chen Yun Ru ad esempio - che ad un certo punto della storia avrei tanto voluto prendere a bastonate nei denti - che è forse il personaggio più complesso e tratteggiato più psicologicamente degli altri, ha delle reazioni, dei pensieri e delle azioni che pur se io non le ho accettate, sono comprensibili per come è stato scritto il suo personaggio. 

5) La simbologia

Someday non ti dice le cose...te le fa capire e poi sei tu a dover ricollegare i puntini. Questo sistema viene usato anche tramite simboli e questo drama ne ha tantissimi: dai numeri, agli oggetti, per finire con i dialoghi. 

Ciò significa che il drama non tratta lo spettatore come un idiota ma si aspetta che tu comprenda determinati sentimenti ed eventi solo da un immagine. giusto perchè il tuo cervello ha lavorato poco per seguire la trama

Concludendo: Someday riesce a risollevare la mia incerta opinione sui drama taiwanesi con una storia innovativa, impegnativa e profonda, sia da un punto di vista strutturale sia da un punto di vista narrativo. Trama intensa e piena di momenti anche drammatici e tristi ma che non manca di leggerezza e risate, con scene romantiche e zuccherose che risollevano l’umore. Ottimo il cast e anche le OST.

NOTE SPARSE 

Il dramma non è stato il viaggio nel tempo, ma il capire che fosse tutto un loop temporale. Questo ultimo passaggio mi ha cambiato notevolmente il punto di vista di tutta la storia e ha mandato a scatafascio tutte le teorie che mi ero fatta. Onestamente l’ho trovata una cosa geniale...complessa, ma geniale.  La complessità sta tutta nel capire l’esatta timeline di Li Zi Wei e comprendere che le tre sue versioni che si vedono sono tutte la stessa persona: Wang Quan-Sheng fidanzato di Huang Yu Xuan non esiste e il Wang Quan Sheng zoppo e con gli occhiali -  il modello più affascinante - è sempre Li Zi Wei adulto. Per me questo è stato un BOOM enorme e che tuttavia, a messo apposto diverse domande che erano rimaste in sospeso. 

Una delle tematiche che viene affrontata successivamente nella storia è quella del destino. Anche se inizialmente la fatalità sembra ricondurre la lead al 1999 e a Chen Yun Ru, in realtà mi è sembrato che tutto convergesse su Li Zi Wei e Huang Yu Xuan. Sono loro i destinati a stare insieme ma anche allo stesso tempo non possono stare assieme. La scena dove Li Zi Wei zoppo - per distinguerlo tra le altre sue versioni sennò è un disastro - confessa alla sua amata che loro non possono stare insieme perchè appartenenti a due diverse linee temporali nonostante tu spettatore sai che questi due sono anime gemelle, è straziante. 

Ma è proprio il destino uno dei protagonisti della serie: se è vero che la lead2019 e il lead1999 non possono stare insieme, è anche vero che sul finale c’è speranza che si trovino nel futuro. Se sono destinati ad essere fidanzati, allora c’è speranza che accadrà. Non è dunque un caso la scelta delle scene finali: Li Zi Wei1999 che accompagna in moto una piccola Huang Yu Xuan. Poetico. Potrei dire che sarebbe stato bellissimo che la serie finisse con loro due e una nidiata di figli nel 2030...ma non sarebbe stato in linea con la profondità, complessità e tutti i messaggi che la serie aveva dato fino a quel momento.

Ultima nota riguarda Chen Yun Ru - da me chiamata “la depressa” - il suo disagio e l’intromissione della lead nella sua vita. Dunque...apparte che questa ragazza è la Figlia del Male ( dire a Li Zi Wei che Huang Yu Xuan non è mai esistita e spezzargli il cuore...maledetta!!!!! ) onestamente non c’erano motivi per cui questa dovesse essere depressa. Rimane così chiusa in se stessa e con tutte queste aspettative rivolte agli altri, che non si accorge che in realtà la sua vita è normalissima. La sua famiglia la ama, suo fratello la protegge, a due amici e uno che le viene dietro. Va bene a scuola... l’intromissione della lead le permette di fargli vedere tutto questo e anzichè farne tesoro e impegnarsi...si vuole ammazzare. Anzi no.... vuole essere ammazzata perchè se si suicida poi la gente pensa male. Nella serie la lead si colpevolizza perchè pensa che per colpa sua la depressa si voglia suicidare, ma in realtà questa aveva preso accordi con la Morte già da prima dell’arrivo della lead. Tuttavia, anche se il suo comportamento l’ho trovato detestabile, allo stesso tempo è realistico e credibile per una diciasettenne. Quel momento dove “ il mondo è orribile” “ nessuno mi vuole bene”, “ sono sbagliata io perchè nessuno vuole conoscermi” ecc ecc...
