Synopsis: Alex challenges Thomas to experience a Valentine's treat, but with her unique spin.

Will I ever get tired of having @weetlebeetle draw these two? Nope! How could I? Look at how cute the are!!!! My babies are the cutest!

"I found the perfect Valentine's candy for you," Alex offered coyly as she tipped her head to the side, her hands held behind her back.

"I highly doubt that." Thomas's brow arched in mild amusement.

Alex held out her hand presenting a small conversation heart between her thumb and index fingers. Her smile brightened as she waited for his reply.

Thomas's intrigue fell. He hadn't expected her to find a Valentine's Day candy he'd enjoy. He found the whole holiday a consumerist spectacle built on artificial sentiment and overpriced confections. The fact that retailers charged three times as much for the same flowers in the name of the holiday as they would the day after was nothing to celebrate. Despite it all, Alex found joy in it, as she did with most things and her joy drew him in. He had hoped she had some magical surprise, something only she proved capable of manifesting. But conversation hearts—his stomach turned at the thought of the chalky sweet—there was nothing quite as loathsome save for perhaps candy corn.

"I know what you're thinking—" Alex interrupted his thoughts, doing her best to imitate his tone and sentiments. "—Alex, you know I don't like candy, and conversation hearts are nothing more than sugar, corn syrup, and food coloring. Even for you, that is a no."

Thomas pursed his lips, folding his arms across his chest. "Are you quite finished?'

"Fine, but this—this right here is a special conversation heart. I designed it myself," Alex gestured to the tiny heart. "It's coffee-flavored! I thought you'd appreciate it."

"My love, coffee is your favorite flavor, though why you would want it in such an artificial sweet is beyond my understanding." He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose with his fingers.

"Oh yeah—" she winked, popping the little candy into her mouth, humming her satisfaction. "Everything tastes better with coffee. You're missing out."

"Well, at least that's settled. Now if you're ready, we do have dinner plans," Thomas breathed easier, hoping to put an end to the conversation of conversation hearts.

"Uh-uh." She shook her head, smirking. "Did you think I would fold so quickly?"

"I dare admit I might have been a bit overly optimistic." His smile warmed.

Alex turned to the table behind them, picking up another one that was slightly warmer in color but still atypical for the candy type. "Here. This one is for you."

"Do I get to know what it is?"

"It's a surprise."

"You know how I feel about those," his brow rose. His eyes narrowed on the sweet treat preparing himself for whatever godforsaken creative confection she had concocted. He held out his hand, sighing softly. "Let's get this over with."

"Always so enthusiastic." She handed over the candy watching in eager anticipation.

He hesitated a moment, analyzing the treat before reluctantly popping it into his mouth, which turned in disgust before the sweet even touched his tongue.

His expression shifted as the heart melted on his tongue, spreading a sweet buttery flavor mixed with a hint of... "whiskey?"

"Mmmhmm," she hummed, pleased. Her eyes gleamed with triumph. "It's a Whiskey Caramel Hard Candy Heart to be exact. So... what's the verdict?"

"Far superior than traditional conversations hearts, tolerable, if I'm being honest, yet still not something I'd enjoy in excess. But for you. For today. For now. It was perfect." Thomas brushed a kiss on her forehead, his fingers cradling her jaw.

I wanted to write a quick dialogue exchange to go with the art, but this happened. I know it's not all that different than the twist in the birthday fic, but I didn't realize it til the end and I had already written it, so I'm posting anyway. I figured there's like 3 people who read Thomas fics, so I'm hoping you'll still like it anyway.

To anyone who does read this and sees this, please know how much I appreciate you. These two hold an extra special place in my heart so any support for them is greatly appreciated! 💖💖💖

Wake the Dead

Pairing: Troy Hassan and Eva Archer

500 words (teen)

Eva had been working herself to the bone keeping things running smoothly at Olympus. With all her responsibilities, she had forgotten today’s date.

But not Troy.

He grins as he recalls his traditional Valentine’s Day stunt back at the Tower. Though it had been yet another ploy to make easy money back then, he knows it’ll make her smile.

He scrawls on a piece of weathered cardboard "Free Kisses," and perches himself at the entrance to the dining hall.

“Hassan, what are you doing?”

Eli saunters over, arching an eyebrow at the sign.

“Watch and learn my friend,” Troy flashes a dazzling smile as he lounges against a table, “this is how you improve morale.”

Eli snorts, shaking his head.

“I’ll stick to keeping the place safe.”

“To each his duty!”

One by one, Olympia’s residents approach Troy's makeshift kissing booth, young and old, laughing and teasing as they collect their pecks on the cheek, fist bump or high five, and a freshly baked brownie. In no time, the atmosphere is lighter.

“Oooh I love this! Here, let me try!”

Angel slumps on the table next to Troy and proceeds to steal his limelight, all the while scarfing down the brownies.

But Troy doesn’t mind. His eyes scan the room, searching for that familiar face.

Finally, Eva appears. She’s carrying supplies, her fiery red hair held back by those ever-present goggles. Her blue eyes reflect exhaustion.

She’s wearing herself thin trying to keep everyone safe. My fearless warrior.

Eva can’t help but chuckle as she notices the sign.

"Really, Troy? Free kisses? What’s the angle this time?" she teases as she approaches.

Troy grins, a playful glint in his eye.

"No schemes, gorgeous. Just me doing my part to keep morale high.”

“Well someone is sure of himself,” she smirks, crossing her arms.

“I’ve yet to hear any complaints,” his grin widens.

Eva rolls her eyes but steps closer.

"Alright, I'll bite. Where's my kiss?"

Troy's heart pounds as he leans in, his lips brushing hers. For a brief second, the world ceases to exist. There’s just her. His Eva. The woman who’s held his heart for as long as he can remember. When he pulls back, their eyes lock, and the air between them crackles.

“Hmm… I may need a little more convincing…”

Eva murmurs as she closes the distance once more, pressing her lips to his in a kiss that quickly becomes all consuming.

Troy responds greedily, wrapping her in his arms, the sign falling to the ground, forgotten.

They’re brought back to reality by loud clapping and cheering around them.

Eva blushes as she pulls away.

Troy is absolutely beaming.

“Happy Valentine’s Day my love.”

“Happy Valentine’s day, Troy. I love you. And this,” she gives him one last peck on the cheek and winks as she grabs her brownie “will be continued tonight.”

Troy’s grin widens as he watches her saunter away, her steps lighter.

Mission accomplished.
