Author's note: Introducing first time my OC, Baby Elissa, Daughter of Alex & Nik Ryder. Plot inspired by cute baby videos and cute reactions of babies biting a lemon.
Early in the morning, Alexis discovered her husband, Nik, sitting on the floor and playing with their baby daughter, Elissa, making silly faces and tickling her tummy. He laughed whenever she giggled. And this warmed Alex's heart. Who would have thought that this man who denied everything, living a lonely life, would marry the love of his life and have a child with her? This was a long story for another time to tell. For now, let's focus on the cute sight of father and daughter.
"Damn Ellie, you're so adorable. I love your blonde hair, those heterochromatic eyes of yours watching me and those cute little hands grabbing me. Even the most terrible color, pink suits you."
"Papa.", the girl called him.
"Yeah, Daddy loves you. I love you, Ellie. You know, your mom is the most beautiful woman on the planet and you're the cutest girl on the planet."
"Hey, you were a cute child too, Nik. Our daughter has your silvery-blue eye, my brown eye, and your blond hair.", Alex admired and joined their conversation.
"You haven't seen me as a child, so how can you tell that I was a cute one?", he asked his wife while rubbing the belly of the little child.
Of course, Alex knew what Nik looked like as a child. She had a vision many years ago when a deadly bloodwraith was hunting her down. The year when she met him for the first time. After their first break-up, she touched a crystalline tear that floated in the air next to his silvery-blue eye and saw a vision that showed Nik as a child. A glimpse of his harsh childhood.
Breaking her thoughts she focused back to her two favorite people playing on the floor. She realized that Nik was holding a lemon piece.
"What the.."
Baby Elissa changed her expression as her father made her bite the sour fruit.
"Isn't it sour, Ellie? Come on, bite again.", he requested and chuckled, finding the girl's expression funny every time she took a bite. He continued making the child bite the lemon.
"Nik, stop! Elissa, don't listen to your Daddy."
"Relax, it's just a tiny piece of lemon. Nothing dangerous."
"You're such a cruel man. She doesn't like it. It's too sour for her."
"Hey, I'm teaching my daughter a lesson.", he stopped feeding the innocent child and turned towards his wife.
"A lesson? How so? Why would you do that to her? You're just enjoying her facial expressions, Nik. Am I right?", she argued.
The young father pulled the almost 1-year-old in his lap, which was now silently staring at its parents and sucking on its dummy.
"Hey, my Ellie is strong. She won't suffer from a little piece of lemon. I'm just testing her limits. And to teach her not to make the same mistakes over and over again."
"Like biting something she doesn't like?"
"Correct."
"Oh, Nik, let me handle parenting because the way you teach her things is the worst. She's still a baby and, right now, too young for your training.", Alex explained and sighed.
"My baby has to be prepared for anything, rook."
"Elissa is no soldier, Nik. Look at our cute and innocent girl. Pure like an angel." she sweetly whispered at the sight of their baby daughter, who just pulled out the dummy from her mouth and accidentally let it fall on Nik's lap.
The man gently placed the baby back on the carpet floor and pecked a kiss on its soft, rosy cheek.
"Elissa, don't listen to your mom. Show her how strong you are and that you're a Daddy's girl."
He continued playing with Elissa, fed her the lemon piece again, testing, observing, and also enjoying her reactions. When she made a mistake, he taught her the lesson, and when she got it right, he praised her.
"Nik, you cruel man. Stop!!", she commanded.
"Relax, rook. It's just a tiny piece of lemon, it's not that bad!", Nik chuckled and kept doing it.
"You just want to see her making funny faces for you. Am I right?"
"Hell, maybe that's true. I can't lie! I love her cute facial expressions.", he couldn't stop laughing.
"Okay, stop it now. That's enough, darling."
"Why, it's all in good fun. She won't suffer. I'm just testing her limits.", the young father chuckled, also amused seeing his wife a little mad.
Again, Nik moved a piece of lemon near the baby's mouth, making her bite with her tiny two teeth. After tasting the fruit, the girl grimaced again while closing her eyes. While the father was enjoying his daughter's cute expressions, Alex didn't like it as a mother.
"Nik, stop!!"
"Hey, I'm just..."
Little Elissa tried to giggle even though the sour taste was still bothering her. She crawled towards her father, Nik for comfort, who gently placed her on his lap with a smile.
"See Alex, she's fine. My princess is strong.", the man praised.
The baby girl nervously giggled again. This must have been the 8th or 9th time she bit on that sour fruit just like her father requested her to do.
"Still Nik, I think it's time to stop now. Give her a rest. Please.", the wife commanded and glared at him while crossing her arms.
"Well, it's all part of the learning process, right? How will she know how sour a lemon is if she doesn't taste it herself?"
"Oh, really? I'll teach it to you then. My dear husband... Take this!!"
Immediately, Alexis snatched the last piece of the yellow fruit away from her husband and then stuffed it inside his mouth to get some sweet revenge for their daughter. Or more like a sour revenge. As the sour taste hit his tongue, he grimaced.
"Ahhh, damn it."
"Sour, isn't it?" Alex teased, enjoying Nik's reaction. Elissa giggled as she watched his funny face and tongue sticking out.
"Papa."
"Ellie, Papa is fine. Damn, that taste is awful."
"Papa damn?"
"No Ellie, Papa is not damn."
"Hey, excuse meee?!! Are you teaching our innocent daughter a bad word, Nik?", Alex freaked out and delivered a little punch on his shoulder with her fist.
"Ouch. What was that for, darling?"
"Nik Ryder, if my Elissa ever learns a bad word from you, I won't forgive you. Understood?"
"But..."
"Understood or should I punch you again, my love?"
"Your small fist didn't hurt me anyway, darling. No need to hurt yourself. I try not to swear or use any bad words in front of Ellie. I swear.", Nik swore anyway.
"You better behave yourself. Since Elissa's birth, you have been so naughty and annoying. Trying to turn my own daughter against me!! You deserved that sour..."
His lips met hers for a kiss, allowing her to taste the sourness of lemon on his tongue.
"Oh... Mmmh, what was that for, Nik?"
"Giving you the sour aftertaste since you made me bite a lemon. Now everything's equal. The whole family has now a sour taste in their mouth."
"But the kiss was sweet.", Alex blushed and kissed her husband back.
The young couple moved closer, embracing one another and sharing a passionate kiss. With their little daughter nestled securely between them, they allowed the energy of their earlier fight to dissolve into a powerful expression of love and connection.

📝 Answer these questions and send to five mutuals! Get to know each other’s writing processes and learn some tips from other writers!
1.How long have you been working on your current WIP(s)?
2.Do you have any tips to beat writer’s block?
3.What is a current fic you’re reading? Is there a fic/writer who inspired you to start writing?
4.What’s the first and last sentence of a current WIP you have written?
5.Do you have a fave OC? (if any?) Why?
Thanks for these interesting questions @dutifullynuttywitch 🩷 Also not you, trying to get some fanfic content out of me
Uhhh, well there's a WIP Series called The Royal Academy (NB×BOLAS×COP×TRR-crossover) where I have been "working" a year now with less progress because I end up writing something else instead. I hope to continue it and I think you'll enjoy it. And then my several other secret WIPs... 😅
I currently have writer's block. Maybe some music or movie scene inspiration will help.
No current fanfiction reading because busy life and I try to catch up on old books. And I need to read your Heaven's Secret series. Following old fandom members (all are gone) inspired me to write for Nightbound: @embarrassingsmartphonegame (fave) ; @hopelessromantic1352 ; @musicallisto (her old Nightbound fics) ; @levineseth ; @nazario-sayeed ; @thekriseffect ... And my new NB writer friends like you
Uggghh, it was not supposed to get revealed, but here. Last WIP: "Oh Nik, let me handle parenting because the way you teach her things is the worst. She's still a baby and right now too young for your training.", Alex sighed.
Favorite OCs? Right now I only have a few Nightbound OCs... Jason Ryder & Elissa Ryder (Children of Alex & Nik Ryder) are the best cuties I ever created. Elissa Ryder is my favorite because she such a pure soul.
All my Nightbound OCs: Jacqueline (Alex's mother) ; Christian Fairchild (Alex's adoptive father) ; Stephen&Celine (Nik's birthparents) ; Jason Ryder (Alex&Nik's adoptive son) ; Elissa Ryder (Alex&Nik's daughter) ; Prince Sky (Fae Prince & Elissa his Love Interest) Lucy,Veroniqa&Vermont-Lucien (Luc&Vera's children) ; Vermont Reimonenq (father of Vera & husband of Lady Smoke) ; Salem (Vera's black cat) ; Claire (Katherine's hunting student&Jason his Love Interest)

Awww, so cute and fluff. The sweet Brian Baker wants his Catherine to feel better. He was so worried when she didn't pick up, knew something was off, and hurried with his cute dog, Sam, to her rescue. With her favorite ice cream to cheer her up. So caring and sweet. His girlfriend wasn't in a great mood and wanted to stay alone. She even commanded him to leave. The angst!! I love the angst!! I like a dramatic and angsty romance with some cute fluff and a happy ending. Brian is so sweet and caring. I can't believe you added their baby, Sam too. Thank you for doing this. There is no single On Thin Ice fanfic to be found on Tumblr with my pairings, F!MC×Brian. You gave me a wonderful gift. Happy Valentine's Day. Catherine Hill is glad to have Brian Baker in her life.
Romance Club Valentine's Day 🩷
Thank you so much for doing this. That's super sweet of you.
Love Interest: Brian Baker (On Thin Ice)
My Main Character: Catherine Hill 🧊⛸️
Prompt: Anything fluff you want 🩷
more Informations about my pairings under @ladylamrian-archive
Hello! You say any fluff so it's just... fluff lol.
I heard a knock on the door. It was past 10 PM. Who could that be?
”Yes?”
I spoke through the door. Better safe than sorry.
”It’s me.”
Brian’s voice came through, sending a rush of emotions through me.
”I don’t want to see you.”
”Open the door, Catherine.”
”Please leave me alone.”
I turned away. I couldn’t bear to see him right now.
”Please. I have Sam with me. Don’t leave us out here.”
Just then, I heard an excited yip. It really was Sam.
”For god’s sake, Brian…. oh, alright.”
I took off the chain and unlocked the door. Tentatively, I opened it to the sight of Brian, leaning into the doorframe, his face mere inches from mine.
”Why didn’t you pick up your phone?”
I waved him off and turned around, leaving him to enter and close the door behind him.
”I’m not in the mood.”
Sam ran up to me and licked my palms. I scratched him behind his ears and petted him lovingly.
”What about me?”
Brian smirked at the sight of me, showering his dog with love.
”Do you deserve it?”
”I think I do.”
”And why is that?”
He handed me a bag that he’d been holding this whole time. It had two containers in them.
”What’s this?”
”Ice cream.”
I placed the bag on the table and opened up the containers. Sure enough, it was ice cream, my favourite from a shop across town.
”You shouldn’t have.”
”I think I should.”
He moved closer. I could feel the warmth of his body as he hesitated for a split second and then planted a kiss on my forehead.
”Feel better soon.”
Then he signalled for Sam to follow him.
”Wait, you’re leaving again?”
Brian turned back, his hand already on the door handle.
”I thought you weren’t in the mood?”
I smiled.
”Come back here…”

Thank you so much @daydreaming-dummy , Alexis & Nik Ryder look so good these outfits. Gorgeous!! Love the Red & Blue, Gryffindor & Ravenclaw. The attunements from Elementalist could be different, but you got the colors of their Hogwarts Houses I canon right. Nik looks so dashing in this blue suit which makes want to fall in love again. Blue suits him. And Red is definitely her color ❤️ Thank you!!
💕Valentines Gift (#2)💕
As promised, I made another gift edit for you @ladylamrian! 😘
This edit was inspired by your Fantastic Beasts fic and shows what Alexis and Nik would look like if they attended Penderghast. I tried to incorporate elements of the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw house colors as per your headcannon.
I also took a few creative liberties by making Alexis a Fire-Att 🔥 and Nik a Metal-Att ⚙️
I hope you like them!

And here are their individual portraits:

This was really fun to make since I don’t usually experiment with modern fashion in my bolas edits
If you ever want me to make edits for your characters again, please let me know!
Special thanks (again) to @choicesfandomappreciation for creating this lovely event, I’ve been having such a blast making all these edits!

A Dream Come True
Female Main Character: Clara Sinclaire (married)
Pairing: Clara Sinclaire × Ernest Sinclaire 💍
Summary: Clara has good news for her husband
Word Count: 1.9K words
Rating: General (Fluff)
-> My complete Desire & Decorum Masterlist <-
Comments via Reblog wholeheartedly welcome
Author's note: A Secret Pal Valentine's Day Gift for @bri1234
As the midday sun stretched over Edgewater Estate. Clara Sinclaire, her chestnut hair floated in loose waves as she sat in the garden to admire the pleasant weather. A gentle breeze through the green foliage in the air carried the faint scent of blossoming spring flowers.
"Ernest, good morning. How did you sleep?", she greeted her husband as he approached.
The young man leaned against a tall oak, his gaze fixed on his wife. He let out a soft chuckle, an amused smile playing at the corners of his lips.
"Good morning, darling. My sleep? Let's just say it was less like a peaceful slumber and more like a battlefield of tossing and turning."
"Why?"
"Ah, the sleeplessness. Blame it on an overactive mind, my love. Thoughts of the estate, the staff... and, of course, a certain young woman with emerald eyes who has a knack for consuming my every waking moment."
"Very funny, but I'm serious. Do not worry, and please do not stress about any matters. Breathe and enjoy this delicate weather."
Ernest reached out to gently tuck a strand of stray hair behind her ear, his touch tender but filled with a hint of desire.
"My darling, you always know just what to say to ease my troubled heart. But it seems I'm not the only one with a burdened mind, hm?"
"Oh?"
His gaze held a hint of concern as he studied her expression. He knew her well enough to detect the subtle signs of a troubled mind. He carefully moves closer, his knee touching yours.
"Tell me, my love. What darkens those bright eyes of yours?"
"It's nothing bad. I just couldn't decide how to tell it to you."
Ernest Sinclaire raised an eyebrow, intrigued. His fingers laced with hers with his grip firm but gentle.
"Hmmm, now you have piqued my curiosity. It's not often that you struggle to find the right words. Please, my dearest, share what's on your mind."
"Well... I ... It's actually good news."
Ernest's lips curled into a smile, his curiosity rose even further.
"Good news, you say? Well, now you have me all curious. Don't keep me in suspense, darling."
"But it's fun.", she joked and giggled.
"Darling, you're a tantalizing mix of mischief and sweetness. I must confess, my patience is wearing thin.", he huffed a chuckle.
Clara's husband gently lifted her hand to his lips, pressing a soft kiss on your knuckles before he continued.
"Please, my love, put me out of my misery. What is this good news that you're so enjoying and withholding from me?"
"I'm Clara Sinclaire, your wife. First, catch me, and then I'll tell.", she proudly announced before rushing away.
Ernest watched Clara retreat, his face a mix of amusement and disbelief. He let out a soft chuckle, shaking his head slowly.
"You're impossible, my love. Utterly impossible."
Mister Sinclaire feigned a sigh, and a glimmer of playfulness sparked in his blue eyes. He rose from his spot, and began to follow her.
"You got me curious, darling. I'll give you that. But don't think you can escape me so easily."
"Oh really?"
"You may be quite the tease, my love, but I've got a few tricks up my own sleeve."
With a playful grin, he quickened his pace, closing the gap between her. He rushed after her and reached out, aiming to wrap his arms around her waist as he caught up. His breath was warm against her neck as he leaned in, his voice a low whisper.
"Now, darling, spill the beans. What is this good news you've been keeping from me?"
"Why don't you make a guess, my darling husband?"
Ernest's grip tightened slightly as he pulled his naughty wife closer. His broad chest pressed against her back. A deep sigh as his tone filled with a mixture of exasperation and affection.
"Oh, my cheeky wife. You know precisely how to drive a man to his limits. But I'm not one to back down easily, my love. I'm going to coax that good news out of you one way or another."
"Fine, I'll tell. Here is a hint: Little Ernest."
"Little Ernest? What in heavens does that supposed mean?"
"Or Little Clara. I don't know yet."
A mixture of confusion and intrigue swept across Ernest's face. His hand now instinctively rested on her stomach, his touch tender and curious.
"Wait... do you mean to imply that... You're expecting?"
The words hung in the air, heavy with possibility and excitement, as he gazed at her with a mix of disbelief and hope.
"Yes, we'll be parents."
Ernest's eyes widened, and a wave of emotions washed over his face. The stoic expression he held began to crack inside of him, replacing by a mixture of shock and joy.
"Oh... My love. This is... This is incredible news."
The gentleman happily encircled his wife in a tight embrace with slightly trembling arms. His words came out as a soft, shaky whisper against her ear.
"You're going to be a mother and I'm going to be a father. We're finally going to be parents."
"Yes, my love. Like we both always wanted after marriage. Time flies by real quick. From a young girl, I've grown into a real woman so fast."
Ernest was lost for words, his usually composed demeanor shattered in the face of this unexpected news. His arms held his love tightly as if trying to anchor himself in this moment of pure joy and wonder.
"I... I don't know what to say. I'm... overwhelmed. This is... It's a miracle. We're going to have a baby. Our baby."
"Yes, Ernest. We both will be parents."
"I cannot believe it. It's like a Dream come true. But... How? When? Are you sure? We need to prepare. I must see to it that everything is in order. Oh my, what kind of father will I be?"
"I just found out, so calm down. We still have time."
Ernest sucked in a deep breath, trying to steady himself. Taking a moment to compose himself as his eyes were fixed on hers, filled with a mixture of awe and adoration.
"You're right. I need to calm down. I'm just... I'm still grasping the reality of it all. It's hard to believe we're going to be parents. But... I couldn't be more happy."
"Oh, Ernest."
"My Clara darling.", he whispered before leaning in, pressing a tender kiss on her forehead.
"We'll take it one step at a time. But know this, my love... I'll be there with you every step of the way. We'll do this together, and we'll make sure our baby has the best life possible."
"I agree. Thanks, Ernest. I couldn't be any happier."
The soon-to-be father cupped Clara's face in his hands as his blue eyes gleamed with love and certainty.
"I mean it. We're in this together, my love. And there's no one I'd rather be on this incredible journey with than you. We're going to be parents, and nothing could make me happier."
The lucky man gently guided Clara to a nearby bench and pulled her into his lap. His arms encircled her securely as he nuzzled his face into her brown hair, his heart pounded with a mixture of excitement and responsibility.
"Oh Ernest, I can't believe we're going to be parents. It feels like a dream. You'll be a great father, I know it."
He let out a soft chuckle, his voice slightly shaky with emotion. He held his beloved close, his chin carefully resting on top of her head as he took a deep, shaky breath, feeling the weight of responsibility and newfound love settling onto his shoulders.
"I'm not sure where to start, my love. But I promise you, I'll be there for you throughout this entire process. I'll support you in every way possible. This is all so new, my love, but I'm willing to learn and do whatever it takes to make sure our little one has the best life possible."
"I know you will. It's new for both of us, but we have each other. We're the best team."
Suddenly Ernest paused, a soft smile creeping onto his face as he imagined the future.
"I wonder what they'll be like, you know, our child. Will they look like you or me?"
"I hope like you, my dashing husband.", she giggled, but truly meant it.
"Oh, you flatter me, love. But you know you're no less stunning. Our child will be lucky to have your beauty and my dashing appearance.", he chuckled before growing serious.
"Everything alright, Ernest?"
"Clara."
"Yes?"
"You know, my darling, as much as I love you and am excited about this news, I do have one request."
"Yes, what is it?"
With a steady gaze, his hand found hers again to hold her tightly, he took a deep breath again before he spoke again.
"I want you to promise me that you'll take care of yourself, my love. You need to eat well, drink more water, get plenty of rest, and avoid any unnecessary stress."
"Ernest..."
"No, listen first. I know you, my darling. You tend to take on too much and push yourself too hard. But now, we have to think about our little ones, too. Can you promise me you'll be careful?"
"Sure, but does that also mean no more wild rides on my horse, Belle?"
The man gave her a weary yet amused smile, his expression a mix of concern and resignation.
"Oh, you're impossible, my love. But yes, as much as it pains me to admit, wild rides on Belle need to be put on pause for now. And no more climbing trees, exploring abandoned buildings, or any other wild and dangerous activities you seem to favor."
"Wow, you know me so well."
Ernest chuckled softly at her reply. His hand gently caressed his wife's cheek.
"Of course, I do, my darling. I've had plenty of time to study you like the back of my hand. But sometimes I do wonder if you're part daredevil or just enjoy making my heart race with fright."
"Do not worry. When I have you nothing will happen. I'll be careful.", she giggled.
"Thank you, my love. It means a lot to me that you understand. And just remember, I'll always be here to keep you and our little one safe, no matter what."
XXX
Weeks have passed already after the news revealed of Clara's pregnancy. After one long night filled with thoughts and dreams, Ernest Sinclaire found himself pacing his study. He went over the list of new responsibilities, what needed to be done and how to prepare to welcome the new member of the household.
"There's so much to do. We need to prepare a nursery, find a nanny, and make sure we have enough diapers."
The man let out an exasperated sigh, then his gaze landed on the empty crib in the corner of the room.
"Ernest, isn't it a bit too early? I just found out yesterday.", his pregnant wife, Clara answered as she overheard his words, which made her enter the room.
"Too early? I suppose you're right, my love. I'm just too excited, and maybe a bit overwhelmed. But you're right, we have time to prepare. Still, we should start thinking about these things."
"As you say, just don't stress."
"I know. You're right, my love. I need to remain calm and collected. It's just... This is all so new and unexpected. I want to make sure everything is perfect for you and our little one."
"I know. And I'm grateful for that. Grateful for marrying you, becoming your wife, and soon the mother of your child. It's like a Dream come true."
"Agreed, sweet Clara. And I cannot wait what the future holds for both of us."

Author's note: Inspired by Disney The Sleeping Beauty 🌹👑
Once upon a time, in a kingdom not so far away lived Elric, the King of Lamrian. The fae king fell in love with a beautiful human named Jacqueline.
One night, as the moonlight filtered through the castle windows, King Elric found himself immersed in a dream filled with shimmering light. In this ethereal vision, an elderly woman behind a veil and golden eyes with a powerful voice. She promised him that soon, the couple would be blessed with a precious little miracle, filling their lives with joy and wonder.
The very next day, the king's lover, Jacqueline found out that she was expecting. The couple rejoiced they couldn't believe it. It was a dream come true.
Months went by and everything was going perfectly. Jacqueline's body was strong, the baby was healthy. Everyone in the kingdom was excited. The day finally came, and the child was born. A beautiful baby girl with silvery hair was presented. The new parents were so overjoyed that tears of joy filled their eyes.
They named her Alexis, and from that moment on, she filled their lives with joy and warmth. Her presence was a radiant light that brought them together, and they loved her deeply, pouring all their hearts into nurturing and cherishing her.
Yet, one fae stood in opposition to the arrival of Princess Alexis... Her young stepbrother, Tialo. Consumed by jealousy, he plotted to ensure that the princess would never experience happiness, determined to preserve his status as the sole heir to King Elric.
"I will not accept this child into my family, just as I refuse to accept Jacqueline as your romantic partner, father. That bastard child will never know love," Tialo, the cursed fae child, asserted firmly.
"Tialo, you're my son. How could you do this me and Jacqueline?!! Even your mother, Thalissa openly welcomed her."
"Yes, my son. We're family now. Let's welcome the newborn together.", Tialo's mother, Lady Thalissa wished.
With a surge of anger, the jealous boy suddenly appeared in the darkened sky, his figure silhouetted against a backdrop of roiling black clouds. Jagged bolts of lightning illuminated his face, casting eerie shadows that danced across his features. The air crackled with tension as the storm brewed around him, thunder rumbling like an angry beast. Below, the king and his partner stood transfixed, their expressions a mix of horror and disbelief, as they witnessed the manifestation of the boy's jealousy, an unstoppable force of nature threatening to unleash chaos upon them.
He hovered above the guests, his face twisted with malice.
"I curse this child on this day," he boomed, "When she touches a spinning wheel on her 25th birthday, she will prick her finger and fall into a sleep-like death..."
Elric, Jaqueline and everyone else shaked in fear. How could they stop this curse and protect the child?
Suddenly an old, wise lady appeared who was known as The Fate. She had watched everything in silence, and now it was her turn to speak.
"I cannot undo the curse," she said, "But I can modify it. The princess will prick her finger on a spinning wheel, but she will not die. She will fall into a sleep-like death until her true love's kiss."
The father and mother were are little relieved now when they heard the new twist in the curse. They could keep their daughter safe. They could keep her away from spinning wheels. At least, that's what they thought...
"No matter what you do," the Fate informed, "The princess will prick her finger on a spinning wheel. But don't despair, for there will be a way for you to protect her. When the princess turns 25, the curse will come true. On her 25th birthday, you must isolate her in a tower. With no spinning wheels to be found, she will be safe."
Elric and Jacqueline didn't want to imprison their daughter, but they saw no other choice. The Fate's advice seemed the only way to keep their beloved Alexis safe.
And with that, there was a decision made. They ordered that all spinning wheels be burned and hidden. On the eve before her 25th birthday, the princess would be brought to a high tower in the middle of the forest, far away from the kingdom.
"This is for the best," the king tried to console himself. "We will keep Alexis safe and the curse will be broken when she meets her true love."
"But Elric, that's ridiculous. Do you really believe in the Fate? There is no way she will meet her true love just like this."
"Jacqueline, my love. I truly understand your worry, and it breaks my heart to see my shining star away from us. We'll find a way, but for now, this seems to be the safest step. Do not worry, Lady Thalissa and the other fae will take care and protect our Alexis there."
But Tialo was not happy. Despite the king's best efforts, he watched closely from the shadows, waiting for an opportunity to strike. He bided his time, knowing that the curse was still in effect. All he had to do was be patient and wait for Alex's 25th birthday.
As the years passed, Princess Alexis grew up in the tower, unaware of the world outside of the curse laid upon her. She lived a simple life, entertained by stories and the presence of a group of fae who had taken care of her since her birth.
"Garrus, I'm heading outside for a little walk. I'll be back soon.", the young girl called out.
The princess went on a stroll in the woods. There she met a handsome stranger who caught her interest. She stood a few meters safely away from him and couldn't stop daydreaming. He was young and muscular with an athletic body, and his blonde hair whipped back.
"Wow, he looks so good."
Eventually, the young man noticed her presence and called for attention.
"Hey!"
"Oh... Hello. I was about to leave.", she apologized as her cheeks turned into a soft pink shade.
"No, wait. Please don't leave. And don't apologize. I was just curious and... I was interested to know your name.", he nervously confessed.
"Oh?"
"Is there a name to put on your lovely face?", the mysterious man asked as he started to feel attracted towards the beautiful, young woman in front of him.
"Alexis. But you can call me Alex. What about you?"
"Nik. Nik Ryder."
Nik studied Alex for a moment and admired her slender figure, her beautiful eyes, and her rosy lips until their gazes met again. There was an awkward pause. It was as if the air around them was charged, and for some reason, all the noise from the outside felt distant. He broke eye contact to look down at her and he couldn't help an amused smile.
"May I ask why were you looking at me like that before?"
"Oh, sorry. I just... I haven't met many people outside yet. Especially men. But you seem quite interesting." she tried to explain without letting him know how attractive she found him.
The man seemed surprised, but also very pleased by her words. He smiled while taking another step closer so they were now standing only a few inches apart. She didn't move away from him, and both stared into her eyes.
"And I find you very lovely, Alex.", he dared to confess. The man always had difficulties to show his feelings, but she seemed special.
With a little time, the young couple got to know each other very well and spent some time together. They went for a stroll, listened to each other's stories, and then decided to play hide and seek.
"Come and find me, Nik."
"Gotcha.", he called as he sneaked from behind her, which made her first gasp and then giggle.
Her laughter and smile filled his heart. If only this moment would last forever. They spend the rest of the day outside enjoying themselves.
On the day before Alex's 25th birthday, her parents visited her tower, their hearts full of anxiety. They had done everything they could to keep her safe, but they knew the curse was still out there, perhaps waiting to strike.
As the night approached, the parents said their goodbyes to their daughter, hoping this wouldn't be the last time they would see her. They left, the tower became quiet, and the princess went to sleep, unaware that the next day would change her life forever.
As the sun crept below the horizon, The evil watched from the shadows. Tonight was the night. All the pieces were falling into place.
Dark magic was in the air. The evil stepbrother knew that everything was going to plan, and couldn't wait to reap the reward.
The sky darkened, and the moon rose high. It was the eve of Alex's 25th birthday. The time had come. Tialo revealed himself in the night. A dark shadow with an evil smile.
He approached the tower, his green eyes fixed on the top, where the princess slept unknowingly. After all these years, this was his chance to make the prophecy and his curse come true...
"This was going to be too easy...", he sneered.
He entered the room silently, his footsteps barely making a sound. The jealous boy crept towards the sleeping princess, feeling the curse tingling at his fingertips.
As the moonlit shone through the window, the evil fae stood over Alex. The princess slept, unaware of the danger lurking close by.
Tialo smiled, savoring the moment. He looked at the spinning wheel at the corner of the room and approached it. His eyes gleamed in the moonlight as he prepared to put his wicked plan into action. The boy gently touched the smooth wood of the spinning wheel. His long fingers traced the sharp metal spindle, and he could feel the magic of the curse coursing through it.
With a sly smile, the fae touched it and the wheel came to life. It whirled around in the pale light, spinning fast and with an almost sinister hum. The hum grew louder as the wheels picked up speed. Alex stirred in her sleep, but she remained blissfully unaware of what was taking place. The spinning wheel spun faster and faster, the metal spindle a silver flash in the dim light. The fae watched the smirk still on his face, waiting for the right moment to strike. The spindle whirled, spinning with a deadly grace. The young fae leaned in a sick grin on her face. The tip of the spindle spun in a blur, getting closer and closer to the bed. The room was quiet, almost holding its breath. Even the hum of the spinning wheel seemed to pause. Only inches away from the sleeping child. The one who cursed the princess watched with anticipation, his eyes narrowed. This was it. After all these years, the curse would finally be fulfilled.
As blood fell from Alex’s finger to the spinning wheel below, the room seemed to hold its breath. The villain's grin grew wider as his revenge finally achieved.
"Yes. Yes!! Yes!!!! Finally..."
Then, in an instant, the curse took effect. Alex, as if under a spell, began to fall. Her body slumped, falling into a sleep like death.
"This will be your life for an eternity, halfling," the fae sneered. "And there's nothing anyone can do to save you."
He left the room, his wicked work was done. The curse was fulfilled, and Alex was doomed to sleep until her true love's kiss awoke her. But would true love ever find her?
And so, the young lady stayed in the tower, asleep in a deep enchantment. The king and queen, devastated by the curse and could do nothing to wake her. The evil had won, and all they could do now was hope and pray.
The years passed, and the legend of the sleeping princess spread far and wide. People spoke of her beauty, the curse, and the hope that one day, true love would find her.
Yet, despite the curse, there was a glimmer of hope. Tales of a hero, the Prince of Swords who would journey through the treacherous lands. This prince, they said, would not be deterred by evil forces. He would fight through dangerous challenges and creatures to get to the princess and break the curse.
With the hero's journey through the harsh lands, he eventually reached the tower. There, against all odds, he was able to climb up to the sleeping beauty's room. There he finally discovered the sleeping princess. Her beauty untouched by the years. He approached her bed, a mix of nervousness.
"Damn, the sleeping princess is Alex??! God, she's still hella beautiful. Just like the last time I saw her."
The young man closed his eyes, his lips a mere inch away from the hers.
"Hmmm, only a true love's kiss can wake her. Could I be the one? Even if not, a try is worth it. I just hope she'll awake soon. Nobody deserves this. If I find that bastard who did this..."
Taking a deep breath to calm down, Nik closed the distance between him and the sleeping beauty. When his lips touched Alex's in a gentle, tender kiss, it seemed like time freezed and the world seemed to hold its breath. For a moment, nothing happened, but then, slowly, slowly her eyelashes fluttered open.
"Holy light, did I just...?"
The princess stirred, her gaze slowly focusing on the stranger before her. She blinked, disoriented and still confused.
"Huh?"
"Hey, it's me. Nik. We met in the woods. It's been so long.
"Nik? Nik Ryder?"
"Jesus, you remember me!! Yeah, it's me. I'm lucky we meet again. And I kinda missed you, Alex.", Nik shyly confessed as he gently stroked her silvery hair.
He helped the young princess sit up, supporting her as she adjusted to being awake again after so many years. She gazed around, taking in her surroundings.
"And how long have I been asleep?"
The man held her hand, his voice gentle.
"Many years. I heard about the curse but never thought it would be you. You've been asleep for a very long time, but you're finally awake now. The curse is broken, and you're free."
"Curse? How did the curse break?"
Nik smiled softly, his silvery-blue eyes never leaving hers.
"With a kiss. Only a true love's kiss. It broke the curse and awakened you from your deep slumber, my lady."
"True love? Did you kiss me?"
"Yeah, sorry. I... I think I have fallen in love with you, Alex. I never thought that I would ever feel that way or even be capable of breaking the curse. But since that day I met you in the woods, I couldn't think about anything or anyone else than you. I love you, Alex. Princess or not, you're the one."
"My beauty comes from my fae genes, I guess. And I feel the same about you since the beginning. I love you too, Nik. Love at first sight."
"Really? But you're royalty and I'm no fancy prince or noble. Just an ordinary guy."
"True love can make anything possible, Nik. Like breaking this curse. And I want only you, my love."
Nik and Alex watched each other as the love between them grew stronger with every passing moment.
"And now..." the prince said, bringing Alex's hand to his lips and kissing it gently, "It is time for us to live our lives together, free from the shadows of curses and despair."
When the young man and the princess approached the kingdom, the word spread like wildfire that the princess had been rescued from her magical slumber. As the young couple reached the gates, the people gathered and their faces filled with joy and wonder at the sight of their awakened princess.
King Elric and Jacqueline streamed tears of happiness down their faces and rushed to embrace their beloved daughter. They held her tight, their voices filled with relief and gratitude.
"Our daughter," the king said, his voice choked with emotion. "Our beautiful daughter is awake. We thought we'd never see you again."
"Father, Mother...", she sobbed.
"Our dear child," she whispered. "You have no idea how much we have missed you, how much we have wept for you. But now, you're awake, and you're here with us, safe and sound."
"Nik saved me."
The parents discovered the mysterious man a few feet away and their expressions filled with sincere gratitude.
"We owe you a debt of gratitude, young man," the king said, his voice filled with appreciation. "You brought my child back. You have rescued our daughter from her cursed sleep. How can we ever thank you?"
"No thanks are necessary, your Majesties," he said. "I did what I had to do to break the curse and awaken the princess. Seeing her free and reunited with you is enough for me."
Princess Alexis rushed towards her hero to kiss him. The man was taken aback for a moment, his cheeks flushing a faint pink.
"Uh... Princess..." he stuttered, a mixture of surprise and joy on his face.
"Sorry, I just... um, wanted to thank you," she said, her eyes sparkling. "For everything you've done. For rescuing me from that cursed sleep."
Nik, still a bit thrown off guard, managed to compose himself and smiled gently at the princess.
"There's no need for thanks," he said. "I'm just glad I was able to help, to break the curse and bring you back to your family. And... to you."
The princess smiled back, her heart fluttering with a newfound affection for the brave man who saved her. The king and his wife looked on, their faces filled with warmth and happiness at the budding love between their daughter and her rescuer.
The kingdom rejoiced at the return of their awakened princess. A grand celebration was held, with music, dancing, and feasting. The streets were filled with laughter and joy as the people celebrated the end of the curse and the beginning of a new, brighter era. Amidst the festivities, Nik and Princess Alexis found themselves stealing glances at each other, both of them unable to deny the growing attraction between them.
It took some courage for the young lady until she joined him to ask for a dance.
"Nik, may I have this dance with you?"
"I'm actually a bit rusty and not that good at dancing. But I'll make an exception, gorgeous," he answered happily, offering her his hand. "It would be my honor to dance with you, Princess."
"Thank you, Nik. Call me by my name and don't worry... I won't let you fall."
As they took their positions on the dance floor, Nik gently took Alex's hand in his. The warmth of their touch sends a jolt of electricity through them both. The music swirled around them, and they began to move in sync, their bodies flowing together as they waltzed across the dance floor.
"Okay, Krom, you know that never happened, right?", Nik criticized Krom's rewrite of the Sleeping Beauty.
A group of friends gathered together in Garrus's bar in New Orleans, called the Graveyard Shift, to wind up, have drinks, and chat. Tonight, Krom, their stone troll friend, was sharing his new written work with his companions who he considered as his heroes and his inspiration. His last work was "Beauty & Beast".
"Well, I love your story. You even mentioned me, Krom darling.", Garrus praised the stone troll before planting a quick kiss on his gray, stony cheek, which slightly turned into a soft shade of pink.
"Don't listen to Nik, Krom. I enjoyed your story. You made me a happy princess with a cute love story between me and Nik. And my mom living happily together with my father. I love it!", Alex encouraged him.
"But it never happened like this, rook. Tialo is younger than you."
"Woah, stop. Krom did nothing wrong. Yes, Tialo is younger than me, but he was already born before me. He's a fae, and fae alter differently and more slowly than humans. Which makes me older than him. A little complicated, I know."
"But Alex, the story..."
"Hey, Krom is the writer. Let him get creative and write whatever he wants. Come on, he even made you the hero of the story.", Alex argued with his boyfriend while she cuddled further for a hug.
"Well, true. If there won't be any stories of my failures, this man has nothing to worry about. But no publishing, cuz I have a reputation to hold. Or at least change the names.", the hunter requested which Krom would have agreed anyways.
The stone troll wrote a few such stories about the group, which were never meant for the public. Only for him and his beloved friends. Only for them and none other. With love.
Why Alex and Nik in the Sleeping Beauty? 🌹
Since birth Princess Aurora from Disney - The Sleeping Beauty and my Nightbound Main Character, Alex were seperated from their royal family and later, found out the truth of their parents and social status at their birthday. And then... they found true love.
Like Aurora, Alex loves the nature and its animals. She might be only a half-fae but she is still a fae, and fae are bound by nature.
Aurora and Alex live in a world full of magic and their lovers fight evil creatures. They would do anything for their beloved, even risk their lifes. And these men even united her with her family.

Author's note: Inspired by the (Ballet) Fairytale called "The Nutcracker" where the heroine has the same name as my Desire & Decorum Main Character, Clara of Edgewater.
In this magical rewrite and retelling, Clara, a young girl with a kind heart, gazed in wonder at her new Nutcracker toy gifted by her father, Vincent, the Viscount of Edgewater.
"Oh, my Nutcracker, you're so handsome!", the girl praised as she held her wooden toy in her hands which looked almost like a human.
"Clara, dear! Clara!!"
The girl heard the grandmother call out from downstairs, so she immediately placed the wooden figure on her bed sheet, left her chambers, and hurried toward the calling woman.
After helping her grandmother, the young girl returned to her chambers only to find her younger brother, Harry, next to her broken toy. The figure lying on the floor with a missing arm.
"Oh no, my nutcracker!! What have you done?", she panicked and quickly grabbed the wooden figure from the floor. Then she picked up the missing toy arm which she found from under her bed.
"I only wanted to play with this soldier but it broke so easily. That's a dumb toy."
"Hey, don't say that about Father's gift. And that's my Nutcracker and not yours. Go and play with Edmund.", she scolded, wanting him to leave.
"Hey children, why the shouting? What happened.", a gentle voice called out. It was Viscount Vincent, the father of the children.
"Father, Harry broke my nutcracker!", little Clara sobbed and pointed at her sibling. Harry tried to avoid his father's gaze as he spoke.
"I'm sorry, father. I was just playing, and it happened by accident."
And then the boy left, leaving his sister alone with the father. The viscount discovered his daughter's sadness which broke his heart. How happy he made her with just a simple toy.
"My darling dear, please don't cry. I promise to fix your toy."
"You would do that, father?", she asked as she slowly calmed herself down.
"Anything for my Clara.", Vincent softly whispered before planting a gentle kiss on his daughter's forehead. She was the only daughter and a father who would do anything for their baby girl. He carefully took her wooden toy and its dispatched arm.
"Thank you, father. You're the best."
"I just don't want to see you sad, my child. Especially not on Christmas Eve. I'll be right back."
Determined to help, the viscount left Clara's chambers with her toy in hand, ready to fix it. Despite the challenges, he successfully reattached the arm. After just half an hour, he returned the toy to Clara, looking as good as new.
"Yayy, my nutcracker got fixed. Thanks father.", she happily squeaked.
In the dead of night, after everyone else had retired, Clara decisively woke up in her chambers to check on her nutcracker. She confidently reached for the cupboard next to her bed as the clock struck midnight. In an instant, hordes of mice flooded the room, and the walls, furniture, and everything surrounding her expanded to dizzying heights.
"Aaahh, what's happening?! Is everything growing or am I shrinking? Help!", she panicked.
Little Clara shrank into the size of a doll. The same size as her Nutcracker. She discovered her toy standing next to her with features like a real human. There was nothing wooden of him anymore. He looked more handsome and real. Light skin, chestnut curls, and stormy, blue eyes.
"Uhh, who are you?"
"Why your nutcracker, of course, milady. They also call me Ernest Sinclaire. And this gentleman is at your service now.", he spoke before raising her knuckles to plant a kiss on them which made the girl blush.
She found her nutcracker already beautiful as a toy, but now even more. Handsome, dashing, and those perfect manners. A man of her dreams.
"You're so kind. Dear Nutcracker,... I... I mean... Dear Mr. Sinclaire, were you always a nutcracker? How did this happen?"
"My Clara, it's only fair if you know the truth. I wasn't always a nutcracker, but a human like you. I got cursed."
"What?", she gasped and he nodded.
"Yes, cursed by no other but the evil Mouse King."
"Mouse King? And is there a way that your curse can be broken"
"Only by the sweetness of the Sugar Fairy."
"First a mouse and now a fairy? What does that mean?", the girl got confused than before.
"I sadly don't know either what the sweetness of the Sugar Fairy is or if she even exists, but that doesn't stop me from fighting. I won't give up that easily."
"Oh Ernest, your story is so sad. I wish I could help you."
"Clara, you helped me already. You're a wonderful girl and treat me perfectly. You don't see me as a toy but as a real human. Someone with real feelings. And thank you for stepping before. It kinda hurt when your brother was messing up with my arm.", he chuckled.
"Does your arm still hurt?" she whispered and gently stroked the injured part.
"Not when I have you, Clara. Besides, your father took great care of me. He's a good man who raised a beautiful girl."
"Oh, Ernest. You're...", she blushed.
"Yes, dear Clara?"
"Oh shut up, you're gorgeous. I like you being more human and real. You're so sweet, kind, and just perfect. You're the best gift I ever received. Even as a toy I love you."
"Clara darling, it fills my wooden heart to hear this. I wish I could spend more time with you in my human form and dance all night with you forever."
"Oh Ernest, why not dance now?"
Clara created delicate ballet movements that were pleasant to watch for Ernest. The movements of the feet were graceful, the movements of the arms and the fingers were very fluid, and the whole body got synchronized.
"Love, may I join for this dance?", he asked and extended his arm to her. She happily accepted and both started a powerful waltz. Everything around them faded away and they only focused on themselves and their dance.
"My beautiful... Clara, look out!!", her nutcracker panicked as their dance suddenly got interrupted by unwanted intruders.
"Ernest, what's happening?"
Clara was shocked and now found herself amid a battle between an army of gingerbread soldiers and the mice, led by their king.
She discovered her nutcracker shouting orders to the gingerbread men, who were joined by tin soldiers, and by dolls who served as doctors to carry away the wounded. The Mouse King returned. As the old, gray-haired being tried to advance on the nutcracker, Clara immediately threw her slipper at him to protect her nutcracker.
"Hey, you ugly rat!! Back off!!"
"Who dares to call me an ugly rat?!! The powerful Mouse King Richard!!", the almost human-like animal hissed at the girl.
"Leave Ernest and the toys alone!! Your army is hurting innocent people.", she dared to answer back while Mr. Sinclaire and the other toy soldiers were too busy fighting off some rats, Richard's minions. One of them was a light-gray human rat called Sir Gideon, who was now swordfighting with Clara's nutcracker, Ernest Sinclaire.
"My, my, what gorgeous piece do we have here? A pretty girl in my kingdom."
"Excuse me, I'm not a piece!!"
"That anger... How fierce! I like that. Why don't you join me, beautiful? I'm a King. Fight by my side and I'll make my Queen.", he spoke as he tried to move closer to her.
"Ewww, no thanks. I love Ernest Sinclaire and not you, old rat. Stay away from me."
"Nobody rejects me. And you...", Mouse King Richard got interrupted as he analyzed the battlefield.
Many of his minions sustained injuries and were defeated while the toys claimed victory in the battle. Unable to tolerate defeat, he issued a command to retreat, vowing to return and strike back harder. Mouse King Richard and Rat Sir Gideon escaped with a handful of their minions, fully intent on scheming for revenge and launching a powerful counterattack.
"Wohooo, Ernest!! They're gone. You defeated them!!", Clara cheered before running towards her soldier for a hug.
"My Clara darling, my love, are you alright? Did he hurt you? I'm so sorry I couldn't keep Richard away from you."
"It's alright, we're both safe now. Is your arm alright?", she wispered in worry.
"Well, I'm used to losing some parts of me while battling, and it doesn't hurt. But this time it feels strange. For the first time, I feel like I used to feel when I was human, Clara. That means the Sugar Fairy must be near."
"Then we have to find her to make you back human again. Does your arm hurt?"
"Manageable, Clara. But for keeping you safe, this pain is nothing to me."
"Then let's find the Sugar Fairy. Lead the way, my love."
Ernest confidently journeyed to the magnificent Land of Sweets alongside the girl. This vibrant realm was under the rule of the Sugar Fairy. The paths were adorned with colorful toffees, and towering lollipop trees captivated young Clara. They boldly crossed a candy cane bridge over the rich chocolate milk river. Energetic bees buzzed around, offering them delightful honey as they soared through the air. In this land, everything and everyone exuded a powerful sense of harmony and joy.
"It's like heaven here, Ernest."
"I was genuinely surprised to uncover this hidden world that embraced me. Nonetheless, I firmly miss the experience of being human again."
"Listen, you're still human with a heart of gold. You can feel happiness, pain, and love. Your mind is sharp and capable of strategy. While you may be made of wood at the moment, that doesn’t diminish your humanity. Together, we will break this curse."
As they stepped into the enchanting Land of Sweets, a vibrant kingdom ruled by the whimsical Sugar Fairy, they were greeted by an extraordinary assembly. Gingerbread soldiers, with their gleaming icing decorations and candy buttons, stood tall and proud. Colorful dolls with sparkling eyes danced joyfully, while fluffy teddy bears flanked them, their soft fur inviting hugs. All around, toys of every kind chimed and chimed with delight, their laughter ringing like bells in the air. The joyful procession celebrated the young couple's bravery, honoring them for vanquishing the wicked Mouse King, Richard, earlier that day.
"You were so heroic.", a ballet dancer sang as she twirled around them.
"Mister Sinclaire saved us again! How will we ever thank him?" Ginger, the teddy bear cheered.
"All hail, Mr. Sinclaire!!", the crowd joined.
"Who's the pretty girl with you, Mr. Sinclaire?" an elderly woman asked and winked at them. Everyone got curious too.
"Madam Tarte, may I introduce Clara? She's with me and together we are here to meet the Sugar Fairy."
"The Sugar Fairy? We have never seen her."
"To the Sugar Fairy? Mister Sinclaire, take my horses for the travel.", Mister Crumble offered.
Ernest, the nutcracker, gratefully accepted the warm words of encouragement and generous help from the villagers. In a display of kindness, they lent him two magnificent mares. Clara, with her spirited demeanor, perched elegantly on a chocolate-brown horse named Caramel, whose rich, glossy coat shimmered in the sun. Meanwhile, Ernest chose a striking white mare with delicate snowflake patterns dotting her fur. She was named Marzipan.
With a sense of adventure, they took off, riding swiftly through the meadows as if propelled by the very wind itself, their laughter echoing through the air. The journey led them to the enchanting crystal palace, where the fairy was said to reside. Upon their arrival, the pair dismounted and led their horses to a gentle stop, leaving them tied outside before stepping into the palace, ready to discover the magic within.
The walls of the palace were magnificently adorned with exquisite marble, showcasing intricate carvings that told stories of a bygone era. Each detail in the craftsmanship added to the grandeur of the surroundings. The floors, meticulously polished to a near-mirror finish, gleamed under the soft glow of the chandeliers, creating a mesmerizing reflection that enhanced the opulence of the space.
"So this where the good Sugar Fairy lives. It's beautiful.", Clara admired.
A cheerful gingerbread soldier adorned with colorful icing and a shiny candy button for a uniform greeted them with a warm smile, his sugary frame exuding a delightful aroma of cinnamon and spice.
"Greetings, I am Ernest Sinclaire, accompanied by Clara. We have journeyed a considerable distance to seek an audience with the esteemed Sugar Fairy. We hold a deep respect for her and sincerely believe that she possesses the power to assist us in lifting the curse that has been cast upon me. Would it be possible for us to visit her?"
"Greetings, Mr. Sinclaire. We have had the pleasure of hearing numerous accounts of your remarkable adventures throughout the land, particularly your courageous confrontations with the nefarious Mouse King. It is our honor to welcome esteemed heroes like yourself to our community."
"Thank you, Sir Luke."
"Regrettably, I am unable to assure you that you will have the opportunity to meet the Sugar Fairy today, or at any time in the future."
"Why is that?" the nutcracker asked with concern.
"I regret to inform you that the Sugar Fairy has been absent for an extended period and has yet to make her return," the soldier announced, eliciting a concerned reaction from the couple.
How can they possibly break the curse on Mr. Sinclaire now? The Sugar Fairy was their only hope, and the thought of him remaining a nutcracker forever was heartbreaking. He deserved the chance to be human again.
"I'll never return back into my human again."
"Please don't say that, Ernest. I know things feel overwhelming right now, but we will find a way through this together. Trust me, my love. I'm here for you," she said softly, wrapping her arms around him. He pulled her closer, seeking comfort, and she gently stroked his soft hair, hoping to calm his racing thoughts.
"Clara, I thought I'll be soon back human but..."
"I completely understand how you feel, my love. Believe me, I share those sentiments too. But please always remember that my love for you remains unwavering, whether you’re human or a nutcracker. You are, and always will be, my Ernest Sinclaire. My hero, my love, my everything. Your kindness, generosity, loyalty, and wonderful heart are what drew me to you, and I cherish that deeply."
"I truly love you too, Clara."
As she heard these little heartfelt words, an overwhelming warmth spread through the girl's heart. In that moment, she stood on her tiptoes, yearning to connect with him, and leaned in for a kiss. Their lips met in a tender, passionate embrace, a beautiful expression of their deep love. An experience that felt like the sweetest thing Ernest had ever tasted.
They found themselves surrounded by a radiant light that enveloped them with hope. It was a glow so captivating that toys from the nearby towns and villages rushed toward the mysterious source, eager to uncover the wonders that awaited them.
When Ernest Sinclaire slowly opened his blue eyes, he found that the girl before him had transformed. No longer was it just Clara, the girl he had known so well. Instead, it was Clara in a dazzling new form as the Sugar Fairy herself. Her brown hair shimmered like spun sugar, cascading down her shoulders in soft waves, and she wore a gown that sparkled with hues of pastel pink and blue. The air around her was sweet, filled with a hint of candy as she smiled down at him. Her radiance illuminating the room and filling Ernest with a sense of wonder and magic.
Clara of Edgewater stood enchanted. Her eyes wide with astonishment. She was dressed in a breathtaking gown. Its fabric shimmering like liquid silver as it cascaded down to the floor, each fold and flare danced gracefully with her every movement. The gown was adorned with tiny sequins that twinkled like stars, adding a touch of magic to her appearance. On her feet, she wore delicate ballet slippers, soft and pastel-hued, embellished with sparkling accents that caught the light with each step she took.
Perched atop her flowing hair was a radiant tiara, a masterpiece of artistry that sparkled with an array of precious gemstones. Each gem seemed to reflect its own story, glistening in hues of sapphire, ruby, and emerald, casting a gentle glow around her. Strikingly beautiful, she felt as if she had stepped straight out of a fairytale, transformed into a princess wrapped in elegance and grace. In that moment, she truly was a vision of purity and enchantment, completely bejeweled and captivating.
"Clara darling, you look like an angel."
The same radiant light enveloped the figure of Ernest Sinclaire, illuminating him in a warm glow. As the transformation began, the once solid wooden form gradually shifted, its hard exterior melting away into soft, supple skin. Flesh and blood filled out the structure, revealing a body full of life and vitality. Before anyone’s eyes, the inanimate wooden toy had transcended its limitations to become a fully realized human being. Indeed, he stood there as a true man, embodying the very essence of humanity as it was always intended to be.
"I'm... I'm back human. After all these times, I'm back in my own body and not a nutcracker anymore."
"Ernest, what happened? I don't understand. Just look at me... What is going on?" she begged for an explanation as she couldn't understand what just happened.
"All the time we were searching for the Sugar Fairy without knowing that you are the Sugar Fairy, Clara. You broke my curse and made me human again."
The enthusiastic crowd surged around them, their cheers rising to a deafening crescendo, echoing the excitement in the air.
"All hail Clara, the Sugar Fairy!!"
"No, that's impossible. I'm not the Sugar Fairy. I'm Clara, just an ordinary girl," she asserted firmly. The man gently placed his hands on her shoulders and looked deeply into her eyes.
"Dear Clara, I truly understand how difficult this is to accept. I felt the same way when I transformed from a human into a nutcracker and entered the Land of Sweets. Your sweetnes, your loving kiss was what broke the curse of the evil Mouse King Richard. It was only the sweetness of the Sugar Fairy that could accomplish this, which is why I believe you are the Sugar Fairy. You have given me the gift of humanity once again."
In a dazzling celebration that filled the air with sweetness, the young heroine was honored and formally welcomed as the Sugar Fairy. The festivities featured an impressive array of delectable treats from around the globe, each one more inviting than the last. Velvety chocolate from Switzerland, with its rich, creamy texture. Spiced gingerbread from Germany, bursting with warm flavors. Fragrant coffee from Arabia, with its enticing aroma. Delicate tea from China served in vibrant porcelain cups. And colorful candy canes from Russia, gleaming under the twinkling lights, were all beautifully displayed.
As laughter echoed throughout the Land of Sweets, the toys danced joyfully and captivated the crowd with their spirited performances. The atmosphere was electric with joy and happiness.
As the dawn approached, it was time for Clara to awaken soon. The night was coming to an end. Mister Sinclaire bowed to her respectfully and kissed her goodbye.
"Ernest!" she shouted, her voice breaking the tranquility of the early morning. Clara’s eyes fluttered open to find the golden sunlight streaming through her window, painting a warm glow across her room. The gentle rays danced on the walls, illuminating the delicate patterns of the wallpaper. Snuggled comfortably in her soft, plush blankets, she felt cocooned against the cold of the winter morning. She lay nestled in her cozy bed, surrounded by the familiar comforts of her chambers, momentarily lost in the peacefulness before the day began.
All the memories of Ernest, the Land of Sweets, the Mouse King, and the Sugar Fairy were still fresh in her mind, which she couldn't forget or shake away that easily. It felt so real. Was it all a dream, or did it happen? The only way to find out...
The girl swung her legs over the side of the bed, her feet brushing against the cool wooden floor. She glanced around her room, eyes scanning every corner in search of clues. Clenching her fists, she imagined what she might find a glimmering piece of candy cane or perhaps a fragrant piece of gingerbread. Her mind even wandered to the thought of an ugly rat with a tiny crown.
"Wait a second, where is the nutcracker which father gifted me yesterday on Christmas Eve?", she thought loud as she discovered that her toy was missing. It wasn't lying in the cupboard at her bedside anymore, which made her panic.
"No, no, it can't be... There must be a logical explanation. I bet Harry took my Nutcracker again. That boy..." she groaned and rushed downstairs. As she entered the main hall, she began shouting.
"Harry, come here!! Where is my nutcracker?!!"
"Are you searching for me?", someone chuckled which surprised her.
It was a young man who entered the parlour with Clara's father, Vincent, as their new guest. He was good-looking, tall, with curly brown hair, gray-blue eyes, and fair skin. He wore a white shirt with a scarf wrapped around his neck, a beige vest, and a navy blue jacket paired with brown trousers. A smile spread across his face as he noticed the girl.
"Ernest?" she whispered with surprise.
The handsome man she danced with last night in Nutcracker form was now standing in front of her, alive. Maybe it wasn't a dream after all? Or was it just a coincidence? But where was her Nutcracker then?
"Sugar Fairy.", the man whispered to her and winked which made her blush. Maybe the adventures of last night did happen. She would happily trade her toy for the dashing man in front of her.
"I hope you don't mind having a guest with us tonight, Clara.", Viscount Vincent suggested, which the girl didn't mind at all.
The entire family gathered around the beautifully adorned Christmas tree. The warm glow of the lights cast a festive ambiance in the room. They savored a traditional meal together, filling the air with the tempting aromas of roasted meats and seasonal dishes. At the table sat Father, whose jovial laughter rang out. Grandmother, with her wise and twinkling eyes. Harry, who eagerly shared stories with Edmund. Clara secretly stole glances with the special guest, who added an extra touch of joy to the occasion. It was a moment of togetherness, warmth, and cherished memories.
"Soooo... Do we know each other?" she dared to ask without letting anyone notice their interactions.
"You might know me already, Clara. I hope you're not sad that you don't have a nutcracker anymore."
"This Sugar Fairy rather wants to have you, my hero. Now Mouse King Richard won't stand a single chance against my man.", she confessed as their hands met under the dining table.

When Nik Ryder led his girlfriend, Alex, to their special place, he felt a pang of nostalgia as he thought about their very first kiss they shared here once. In the bayou. The very same place where he not only kissed her but also spent his childhood with his birth parents.
"Sit down, please."
"Nik, why did you bring me here? Is everything alright?", she asked as she sat down on the fresh grass which gently touched her skin.
Nik sat down, too, next to her, and avoided looking into her chocolate-brown eyes. Alex noticed the strange behavior of her boyfriend and worried. Why is he like this? He's been acting weird for days, and why did he bring her to their special place? Does he want to break up? What's going on? Worry and many questions filled her mind and she waited for his answer. After a long silence, he dared to speak without looking into her eyes.
"I wanted to talk to you. There's something I'd like to tell you."
"Nik..."
He saw the worry expression on her face.
"Hey, don't be concerned. It's nothing bad. Just stay here and be quiet for a moment, okay?"
She nodded. Taking a deep breath, Nik watched her with serious but calm eyes as he took her hand in his.
"Rook. I mean, Alex... We've been together more than two years now and... You changed my life. You make my days less tough. I feel lighter when I'm around you. You make me enjoy life, appreciate good moments, and look forward to the future... But these words aren't enough to fully express what I feel. And so... I want to ask you..."
Suddenly, a horrible shriek interrupted the man's words and made the young couple panic. Immediately Nik's mood worsened. The danger was on their way.
"Damn... not now."
"Nik, that sound? What was that?"
"Stay here. I'll check it out.", he requested as he stood up, stepped away from her, and grabbed his blades from his pockets.
"No, I'll come with you. We're a team, remember?"
"Hey, I'll handle this alone. I don't want you to get hurt. Stay here."
"Nik, not again this... I can handle this!! Don't be so overprotective. Remember, how many times I saved you? I'll support you. We're equals."
"Fine. But if you get hurt, remember I'll kick your ass."
"Not when I kick yours first." she giggled as her mood lightened up, which made him smile back.
"Oh yeah? We'll see about that. Now come..."
Hand in hand, Nik and Alex silently followed the strange voices. They ended up a few feet away from a small group of vampires.
"I'm gonna take care of them, okay?" the young man whispered.
"Me too."
"No, Alex. Tagging you along was already a bad idea. Just keep yourself behind me. No reckless things, alright?"
"Well, I can't promise that. I'm a fae. Darling, I can defeat them with magic."
"I know that, but I don't want you to exhaust your magic. Not after the difficult hunt we just had yesterday."
"Yes, but ..."
"Don't 'but' me, Alex. I'm asking you to stay behind me. Please. I'm not saying this as a man but as your comrade. I know you're capable, but I also know how easily a moment of distraction can lead a hunter to make mistakes. And the fewer variables in a plan, the better. Do you understand?", Nik argued with her.
"Okay, thanks for the info. Now let me take care of these intruders.", she responded coldly and began running right towards the vampires.
Nik Ryder watched in shock and horror at her partner and immediately sprinted after her.
"Alex!! DAMN IT!"
When the man caught up to her, he pulled her towards him, standing in a protective position.
"Alex, are you out of your mind?!? I want you to stay right behind me and I better not find you anywhere else. Got it?"
"Maybe they are friendly vampires."
"There are no 'good' vampires, Alex. It's either stay behind me or I grab you by the collar and take you out of here."
"None of these options, Nik. I'll fight!", she demanded.
"Oh, rook... I swear, you'll be the death of me."
The vampires turned to face them and one of them stepped closer.
"Oh, look here, hunters..."
Nik protectively stepped in front of Alex again, with a defiant glare.
"Don't you dare to lay a finger on her, bloodsucker."
"No, come near me. I'm not afraid of you.", Alex confidently shouted at them.
"Oh, we will do more than just come near you."
Nik put himself firmly between the vampires and Alex.
"Touch her and you'll see what I do to your kind.", the nighthunter warned them, ready to get in action if necessary.
"Feisty. How cute...", one of the vampires chuckled and moved closer towards the couple.
"I swear to god, back off!!"
"No, let them come closer. I'll handle it."
"Rook, are you insane?!?"
"No."
"And if they tear you apart?"
"Nik, they won't. Believe me."
"And what gives you make to be so damn sure of that?!?", he almost snapped at her while she remained cool.
"Because you have me, Nik."
The man couldn't help but roll his eyes again, though a hint of a smile appeared on his face.
"Of course, your overconfidence is one of the reasons that drive me crazy. Damn you, rook."
"I love you too, my cute Nik."
The young couple was so focused on their argument that one of the vampires jumped into action.
Nik noticed in time and pushed Alex behind him, parrying the vampire's attacks with his blades.
"Stay behind me, rook.", he shouted while kicking a second vampire away from her.
"Woah, thanks."
"I told you... I told you to stay behind me!"
"But I didn't even moved."
"Stop being so damn stubborn!", he spoke and then blocked another vampire attack.
Then he glanced at her and discovered another vampire standing very close to her. Without taking his eyes off Alex, he kicked the vampire away from her.
"Watch out, rook!"
"No, you watch out!!", Alex shouted and used her light magic to blind the vampire which secretly sneaked up behind Nik. This saved Nik and gave him enough time to attack back at the opponent.
"Alex, I specifically told you to stay behind... but of course, you never listen to me, do you? Do I have to hold you by the collar? Damn, I don't want to hold anything. I want you to do what I say for once!", he grunted in annoyance while dodging an attack.
"Nik, behind you!!", Alex warned him again while fighting off the rest of the vampires with her magic. Back against back with the nighthunter who just sliced one with his blades. The creature screamed in pain and retreated. It took the fae a final blow of her light magic to eliminate that being. The rest of them now got scared away and escaped until the dynamic duo, Alex and Nik, were safe again.
"Pheww, we did it.", Alex proudly announced as both, she and her partner were panting rapidly out of exhaustion.
Nik dropped his weapons and took her girlfriend by the shoulders to create eye contact.
"You have to stop being so damn reckless!", Nik grunted.
"But I just saves us."
"That's not the point! You could have gotten hurt or even worse! Do you know how worried I was when I saw you facing those creatures alone?"
"No, I was busy with saving us."
Nik was very frustrated, but his voice softened, and there was a hint of worry.
"Damn it, Alex. I told you to stay behind me... Why is it that you refuse to listen to me? When have you ever actually..."
"Nik, duck!!", she screamed.
Nik was startled but immediately managed to bend down just in time as Alex faced the last remaining vampire, which surprisingly appeared for a fight.
The hunter glanced over his shoulder. His heart raced, his protective instincts on high alert and he was ready to intervene until he noticed that Alex was handling everything surprisingly well.
She whirled around her magic and scared the enemy off. After all, she mastered light magic, which feared the creatures of the night the most. Nik stood up, slightly panting. His silver-blue eyes searched for her with a mixture of concern and relief.
He panicked as he watched Alex fall to the ground out of exhaustion. The young man rushed towards her and kneeled beside her.
"Alex!! Damn, are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm good."
He grabbed her chin, tilted her head up to get a better look at her.
"You look tired, rook. Are you sure you're not hurt?", he wispered.
"Naaahhh, just saved your pretty ass.", she joked, wanting to make him feel better.
He rolled his eyes, half amused and half worried.
"Oh, my, whatever would I do without you?",
"Probably suffer. Oh hey, what's that? This box? It must have dropped while the fight."
"Huh, I didn't notice it... Where?"
He followed the direction of his girlfriend's gaze, curiosity piqued. Nestled among the blades of green grass was a small box. Its velvety red surface glistening, beckoning for attention like a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered.
His eyes widened in disbelief as he recognized the box, and panic washed over him. Within seconds, he jumped up and quickly grabbed the box, hiding it from her view.
"Huh? Nik, what...?"
"N... N... Nothing. Just leave it...", he cleared his throat, trying to hide his nervousness.
"What? Why?"
"Nothing, rook. You should stand up now."
"Nik, what is it? What was that?"
The man cursed himself mentally. She wasn't going to let it go, was she? Especially how stubborn his girlfriend was.
"Alex, I told you, it's nothing. Please trust me just for once."
"But Nik..."
"Please get on your feet first, rook."
"Okay, Nik."
Nik sighed. He decided to be patient, knowing that trying to convince her otherwise was useless now.
The woman got up to her feet and gazed at him with curiosity and suspicion. Her beautiful eyes were still fixed on the box behind his back as she tried to figure out what was inside. He gently extended a hand to help her up while still holding the box behind his back.
Nik needed to take a deep breath. He was planning a moment, a special place and a calm atmosphere. But the uninvited vampires just ruined everything and now she's too damn curious for her own.
Now he was out of options. If he didn’t do it now, she wouldn't rest until she figured out what's in that damn box. Now or never. He turned to face her with a mixture of nervousness and determination. Nik took her hands and gently squeezed them while his heart pounded in his chest as if he was about to explode. He got serious, trying to hide his unsafety.
"Okay, there's something I need you to know. Alex, we've been together for some time and these days at your side have been incredible. You are smart, witty and fierce... and one of the most stubborn people I know."
"You love my stubborn nature, don't you?", she giggled.
"I won't deny it, even with your stubborn nature, you are still the most special and unique person I've ever met.", he chuckled.
Her words made him feel a little better to gather all his courage. His voice got a bit shaky as he spoke further.
"I can't imagine my life without you, Alex. I love you more than anything in this whole damn world and that's why.... I want to ask you a very important question. You know I'm not good with words, but I want to try because you deserve it. I want you to be only mine and nobody else's and I'll be just your's. I hate it when someone flirts with you. Take my heart, take my damn life because I can't stop falling in love with you. I... I want you to be my life partner, my companion, my huntress, my partner in crime, my... wife."
The nighthunter confidently held out the box to her and opened it, revealing a stunning engagement ring inside. The design was exquisite, showcasing a large diamond prominently at its center.
"Alexis Clarissa Fontaine, will you marry me?"
Nik Ryder waited patiently for her to speak, studying her reaction anxiously. He wasn't sure what to expect. Were her eyes glistening because she was about to cry? Was she excited or surprised? He just hoped for the best.
"Nik...", she tried to continue.
His heart was racing and he felt a mix of anticipation and anxiety. He watched her reaction, searching for any sign to tell him what was going through her mind at that moment.
In a sudden surge of anger, she seized him by the collar, yanked him forward, and forcefully slammed him to the ground.
"What the...?"
"Shut up, you freak!! Who are you and what have you done to my Nik?"
The man was suddenly caught off guard and pushed himself back on his feet while maintaining a safe distance between himself and his girlfriend. He tried to process her words, not sure if he heard right.
"Who I am? I'm me, you idiot! Nik Ryder."
"Hey, you're damn right about that. I never planned to get married. Not until I met you, Alex. You showed me that maybe the idea of commitment wasn't that bad after all. It's me, your Nik who wants to marry you."
"Hey, only my boyfriend is allowed to call me an idiot!! How dare you take the form of my boyfriend and propose to me?! You nasty shapeshifter!! Where is my boyfriend??!!"
"I am your boyfriend. It's me, Nik. Why are you like this?"
"Because my Nik never wanted marriage. I caught you, shapeshifter. Tell me where my Nik is?!!", she angrily commanded for an answer.
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah, I'm damn serious. Being with you changed my perspective. You make me feel complete and I can't imagine my life without you anymore. I thought if I marry you, I'll pull you much more into danger. I have enemies, and I can't risk having you hurt. On the other side, you're damn strong and can defend yourself well even if I just don't want to admit it. I want to stay with you, fight with you, forever be with you, and protect you no matter what. So... What do you say? Will you give me the honor of being my wife? Be mine and nobody else's."
"Oh, Nik... Yes! Yes! Yes!!! I thought you would never ask."
She believed him now, even though she could hardly comprehend what she had just heard. It's a miracle. Her emotions took over, and tears welled up in her chocolate-brown eyes as she happily jumped into his arms. Nik caught her effortlessly in his arms. A mixture of relief and joy washed over him.
"Really? You're saying yes?"
"Sometimes you can be annoying and overprotective for not letting me go on a hunt with you. But yes, I dreamed of marrying you."
"Overprotective? Me? I'm just trying to keep you from getting yourself into dangerous situations, you little trouble magnet."
Still carrying Alex in his strong arms with bridal style, he squeezed her tighter, his voice filled with love and affection.
"But you know what? You're the best trouble I've ever gotten into."
"I'm your only trouble, Nik. Only your's.", she giggled.
He chuckled, gently tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Damn right, you are. You drive me crazy, make me worry, then always manage to surprise and challenge me. And I wouldn't have it any other way, my dear."
"Don't forget how many times I saved you and your pretty ass."
"Oh, now feeling entitled here? True, you have saved me multiple times, I'll give you that.", he admitted. Placing his girl back on her own feet, he retrieved the ring from the box and held her left hand gently. Taking a moment to look at her, a smile playing on his lips. Then he gently slid the ring onto her finger, admiring how gorgeous it looked on her. Slowly he brought her hand to his lips, placing a soft kiss on her knuckles.
"A beautiful ring for a beautiful woman."
"Wow, it's so beautiful. Is it a diamond ring? I hope it wasn't expensive. That gemstone is so big and..."
"Don't worry, money's not an issue for me. Not when because of protecting you earned me most of the money. And besides, you're worth it. I would do anything to make you happy. You know, I never thought I could love someone as much as I love you. You are my match in every way and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
"Me neither, future husband."
Nik suddenly smiled at the sound of 'husband' coming from her lips and pulled her closer, kissing her forehead.
"Future husband... I like the sound of that, my future wife."
"Me too, Nik. Soon I'll be Mrs. Ryder."
"Mhm. My wife. I like the sound of that too, dear fiancée. My beautiful fiancée, my future Mrs. Ryder... Damn, I'm such a lucky bastard. The man who will give you his last name. You'll be Alexis Clarissa Ryder."
He gazed at her with affection, still unable to believe that this amazing woman was about to become his wife.
"You know, I have no idea how or when I became so whipped for you. But now there's no turning back. I love you more than anything, Alex. And I can't wait to start this new chapter of our lives together."
"Oh Nik, after marriage, I'll be your honey, your love, your angel, your princess, your goddess, your queen. And I'll give you several cute nicknames too. You'll be my darling, my babe, my cutie-pie, my..."
"Please don't!!"
"We'll be the cutest bickering monster hunter couple ever. And the hottest, of course.", she giggled while admiring her engagement ring.
He heartily laughed and nuzzled her neck. His breath was hot against her skin.
"Oh, we will be the hottest, alright. And the loudest, and the most stubborn, and the most badass couple everyone has ever seen."
Later, that night in the Graveyard Shift, Nik Ryder was too nervous to announce the news to their friends. It took Alex a lot of convincing till he found the courage.
Taking a deep breath, he felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. Alex, who was now his fiancée stood next to him by his side, giving him a reassuring smile. Then the couple turned to their friends, his voice slightly shaky.
"Hey, guys... I have an announcement to make."
"Hello, Nik. Hello Alex. How are you?"
"Hi, guys."
"Hey, Ryder. What's up?"
Nik took another breath and cleared his throat before continuing. He could feel everyone's eyes on him. The anticipation in the room was palpable.
"So... um... I have something to tell you all."
"Yeah?"
"I... um... Alex and I..."
"Yeah? What about you two? We're listening.", Katherine asked, wanting to know it already.
The nervous man glanced at his fiancée again. Seeing the smile on her face gave him courage to continue.
"Alex and I... Alex and I are getting married."
"What??!!"
"You're kidding, right?"
"No way. Impossible!!"
"Wait, Nik is telling the truth. He proposed to me!", Alex squeaked out in excitement, showing everyone the diamond engagement ring on her finger.
A chorus of surprised reactions filled the room as the news sank in. There were gasps, jaws dropping, and some enthusiastic cheers and congratulations.
"You're still joking, right?", Vera happily giggled who still couldn't believe the news.
"No, I'm not joking. We're serious.", he nervously chuckled while feeling glad to finally let the news out. Now, he enjoyed the looks of shock and excitement on the faces of their friends as they were still processing the news.
"No way, the Nik Ryder? The Nik Ryder?!!"
"Yeah guys, the great and fearsome Nik Ryder is getting married. You heard right.", Nik chuckled again.
"Are you serious?"
"Dead serious. This incredible woman has somehow convinced me to take this massive leap of faith. Who would've thought, right? But truth be told, I never saw myself getting married either. Until I met her."
"Hey, you better treat Alex well.", Cal warned him before taking another sip from his drink.
"Hell, I promise you all that I would never hurt Alex. Hand in fire because she is everything to me, and I will always make her happy and protect her for the rest of my life. You have my word."
"Nik, if you ever hurt her... We'll kill you."
"Katy, believe me, I know that already. If I ever screw up, you guys would come after me with pitchforks. And honestly, I wouldn't blame you."
"Alex, what have you ever seen in this guy?", Katherine asked, still confused by her friend's choice.
Alexis smiled, her eyes sparkling with love as she answered.
"What haven't I? He's smart, strong, handsome... and surprisingly soft-hearted underneath that tough exterior."
Nik grinned and winked at her lover, trying to appear nonchalant.
"You hear that? She thinks I'm handsome."
The lucky man couldn't help but feel a bit smug at her compliment, but also secretly pleased. He knew he wasn't everyone's cup of tea, with his snarky attitude and rough exterior. But knowing that Alex saw something different in him? That meant the whole damn world to him.

Author's Note: Please have mercy on me since it's my very first Desire & Decorum fanfiction. If I ever write again for this book, I won't tag anyone unless it is requested. Inform me!!!
"I'm heading out for a ride.", his wife informed him as she climbed on the back of her horse, named Belle.
Ernest's expression softened. He knew just how much she cherished these moments with the mare.
"Very well, my dear. But promise me you'll be careful. Belle can be quite spirited."
"Oh, my dear and loving husband. Don't you believe in Team Clara-Belle?", she winked.
Ernest chuckled warmly at her playful remark.
"Of course I do, my love. I have the utmost faith in your skills with that steed. I just happen to like you in a single piece."
"Sure."
With a nod, he released her hand and called put to be safe.
"Be careful. And pat Belle on the nose for me."
Ernest watched her leave. His heart swelled with a mixture of love and worry. He hoped that Clara, with her spirited nature, stayed safe on her ride.

Countess Clara of Edgewater mounted on Belle. Next to her, other ladies on their horses, all eager and excited for a playful race in nature. The soft grass beneath them rustled gently, and the horses seemed to share in their enthusiasm. Clara's eyes glittered with a hint of mischief.
"Ready for a race, ladies?"
Everyone nodded, their horses pawing the ground in anticipation, which made Clara even more excited. She patted Belle's neck affectionately.
"Ready for a race, my girl. We'll show them the power of Clara-Belle."
When the little race finally started, all the horses lurched forward, moving as one. Each rider gripped the reins tightly. Clara, with her intimate knowledge of Belle's speed and the terrain, took the lead. The wind whipped through her brown locks.
The other ladies do their best to catch up, but Clara and Belle are a force to be reckoned with. Clara's skillful guidance and confidence created a seamless bond between woman and horse which propelled them further ahead with each stride.
The young countess laughed heartily, the feeling of triumph rushing through her veins. She patted Belle's neck as they continued to pull further ahead.
Clara glanced over her shoulder and smiled, seeing how far she and Belle had pulled away from the others. The wind rushed past her ears as she called out to her horse.
"We're leaving them in the dust, aren't we, girl? We're Team Clara-Belle, after all. Fast and strong."
Belle nickered in agreement, her strides became even more vigorous as if spurred on by her rider's excitement. The horse's powerful muscles rippled under her, propelling them further and further from the rest of the group.
Clara her focus on guiding Belle, suddenly felt a shift in the horse's stride. Before she could fully process what was happening, Belle let out a sharp whinny and stumbled slightly to the side.
"Belle?!!"
Clara's heart skipped a beat as she frantically tried to regain control, but it was too late. Belle's stumbling turned into a fall, and in a moment of panic, Clara was sent flying from the saddle, landing hard on the grass some distance away.
The rider's body ached from the impact, the shock of the fall left her breathless. She lay there for a moment, trying to assess the damage, but her focus was quickly diverted by a sound that chilled her to the bone... Belle's panicked whinny.
Clara's heart raced as she turned her head and discovered Belle struggling to get up. The beautiful mare twisted her ankle. Her hind legs buckled whenever she tried to put weight on them. Clara, despite her pain, stood up and slowly approached her horse.
"Belle, my girl..."
Belle still whinnied in pain as Clara approached. The animal's brown eyes were wide and filled with fear. It attempted to move but couldn't. The injury was preventing her from standing, let alone moving. Clara's heart aches for her beloved steed. Her hands trembled as she gently touched Belle's injured leg.
"Oh no! My poor Belle..."
A mixture of worry and pain as the young woman examined the injury. Her horse whimpered in response, clearly distressed and in pain. Clara knew that she couldn't move Belle on her own. Belle was too big and too distressed. Panic began to creep into the mind of the young countess as she searched around, hoping for anyone to pass by and help. But the area remained empty and silent. Her face was pale with fear. The realization of their predicament sank in. They're alone, some distance from the estate away. Both were unable to ride and unable to walk back. The only sound was Belle's soft, pain-filled whinnies, echoing through the quiet landscape.
Clara gently placed her shaking hand on Belle's neck, trying to soothe the frightened animal.
"It's going to be alright, girl. We'll find a way."
But the words felt hollow, filled with fear instead of reassurance. For a moment, they sat in silence. The horse's soft breaths were the only sound. The wind had picked up, the chill biting cold against their exposed skin. Clara already shivered in her thin riding clothes. They were miles away from any shelter, and the temperature was dropping rapidly. The thought of spending the night outdoors, injured and exposed, was more than a little frightening. But she pushed that fear down, focusing instead on the hope that someone would find them before nightfall.
When Clara tried to stand, she winced as her sore body protested. It was clear that the fall had left her with bruises and possible injuries, but she still pushed through the pain, gritting her teeth as she rose to her feet. She glanced at Belle and her heart broke at the sight of the helpless horse.
Clara looked around, trying to find something, anything they could use for shelter. The terrain was empty and flat, with no trees or buildings in sight. The wind gusted again, and she shivered, feeling how the coldness had already begun to seep through her clothes. The horse growing restless and agitated by the minute.
The woman sat back down next to Belle, trying to think of a solution. But the coldness was making her head fuzzy, and the pain in her body slowly clouded her thoughts. She wrapped her arms around herself, attempting to keep warm, and huddled closer to her horse for warmth.
"Ernest was right. I should have been more careful."
She let out a small, bitter laugh, and small tears welled up her eyes. Her fingers trembled slightly from the cold. She leaned her head closer against Belle, feeling the horse's soft fur. Trying to soothe herself, to think of a way out of this mess. The sound of the wind howling around them and it was getting darker.

Hours passed slowly, and the night was drawing closer. Clara was exhausted, her body ached and her mind fuzzy. The coldness now had settled deep into her bones, despite the small comfort that Belle's presence provided. The pain in her ankle, coupled with the soreness from the fall, made her breathing ragged. They're in the middle of nowhere, hurt, hungry, thirsty and exhausted.
Suddenly, the sound of horse steps was heard, which caught Clara's attention. She looked up, her heart fluttered with a mixture of hope and anxiety. The steps seemed to get closer, but the darkness made it hard to see anything. The injured lady strained her eyes, trying to make out the form of the approaching guests in the darkness. The wind howled around her, which masked the sound a bit, and for a moment, she was not even sure if it was her mind playing tricks on her or if someone was coming.
It took a little moment until Clara's eyes widened, discovering a figure on horseback approaching. She tried to get to her feet, but her ankle protested making her stumble. So she waved one arm and shouted desperately, trying to get the person's attention.
"Here! Over here!! Help!!"
The mysterious rider seemed to have noticed the movement and guided its horse in their direction, getting closer as the seconds passed.
As the rider approached closer, Clara could just make out the familiar features and stature. It was her husband, Mister Ernest Sinclaire, Master of Ledford. The young man looked panicked. His face filled with worry as he dismounted from his horse and rushed towards her and Belle.
"My Clara!!"
"Ernest?"
Ernest dropped to his knees beside Clara, his eyes scanning her body for any signs of serious injury. His hands moved gently over her skin, checking for wounds as his voice was filled with worry.
"My love, my sweet, my darling, my Clara, are you hurt?"
"How did you find us?"
Mister Sinclaire ran a hand through his soft hair, his expression tense, but a hint of relief in his blue eyes. He glanced at Belle before answering.
"When you didn’t return for dinner, I knew something was wrong. The ladies informed me about your sudden disappearance and looked worried. I saddled my horse and came searching for you."
"Oh Ernest..."
Her husband pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest. His voice was soft but filled with worry and relief.
"My love, you foolish girl. You could have been hurt, or worse..."
"I'm sorry."
Ernest pulled back slightly, looking at her face. His heart nearly broke at the sight of her tired, bruised face. His hand raised to cradle her cheek with a gentle touch.
"I'm not angry, my love. I'm just so relieved you're safe. But promise me, promise me you'll be more careful from now on."
"I promise."
The young man gave her a soft smile, pressing a gentle kiss against her forehead. He held her a moment longer before standing up, moving to check on Belle. The horse whimpered as he touched her. The injury was indeed painful.
He examined the injury with a serious expression. Running his hand gently over Belle's leg, checking the swelling and the stability of the joint. He looked up at Clara, his mouth set in a grim line.
"It's sprained at the very least. The poor thing is in pain."
"How will we get her home?"
He glanced at the horses and it took a silent moment until an idea slowly formed up in his mind. He knew it was not ideal, but they didn't have many options.
"My love, you ride my horse, and I'll walk. We'll have to build a travois. With branches and rope, we might be able to make something that can support Belle's weight without further hurting her leg. Me and my horse will pull the travois with Belle on it."
And with that, Ernest Sinclaire began to look around, hunting for long enough sticks and searching for rope or cloth that could serve as a support. The night was fully set, the stars their only light source in the pitch-black field.
As he worked, he glanced over at his wife, trying to keep his worry at bay. Clara's face was drawn with exhaustion, and he knew she was holding on by a thread. The travois needed to be done quickly. The sooner they could move, the better.
Eventually, Ernest managed to gather enough sticks and found some rope in his horse's saddle bag. With determination, he set work on building the travois, tying the sticks together and making sure they were sturdy enough to support Belle's weight.
As the travois slowly took shape, he looked up to see that Clara had managed to mount his horse, holding the reins with stiff, trembling hands. A wave of worry washed over him again at the sight of her. She should be resting, not worrying about all this.
When the man tied the final knots on the travois, he approached to his brown-colored horse and Clara. His voice gentle but firm as he spoke.
"Love, I need you to ride slowly and carefully. Belle's on a travois behind us and will be uncomfortable. You cannot jostle her too much. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Ernest."
His heart broke at the exhaustion in her voice. He wished he could take away all the pain and worry, but they were still far from safe. He reached up, gently touching her knee.
"Clara, I know you're tired, believe me, I know. But we have no other option but to keep moving. We will rest once we're back home, once we've got you and Belle safe. Just hold on a little while longer."
"You're walking? Are you sure?"
"Yes, love. I'll walk beside you. It won't slow us down that much. And you need the rest more than I do. Just let me guide the horse while you hang on, alright?"
He took the reins and led his horse forward, gently encouraging the animal to step forward. The travois with Belle on it follows, its wheels making a soft grating sound on the rough ground.
As the party slowly began to move. The only sounds were the soft huffing breaths of the horses, the crunch of the wheels on the ground, and Belle's soft whimpers. Clara's eyes were half-lidded with exhaustion, her body trembled with the cold and the exhaustion.
Ernest was also tired and focused on walking. He knew Clara and Belle were both injured and exhausted, and that every step was a challenge, but he pushed forward. When he glanced back at Clara, he saw how she was struggling to stay awake and on the horse.
"Love, you need to stay awake, you cannot sleep on the horse. Not yet. Just a little bit longer, I promise you'll sleep in a nice warm bed once we're back."
"I'm worried about Belle."
"I know, my love. So am I. But we're getting closer to the estate with every step. Sir Luke Harper will take perfect care of Belle. Soon, you can both rest. Almost there..."
Minutes, hours, a lifetime seemed to pass. But eventually, the familiar sight of Edgewater estate came into view. The buildings were faintly lit in the distance, and relief flooded through Ernest's chest. They made it. They're safe. He glanced back at Clara, a small smile on her face too.
When they reached the stables, he took the horses into their boxes, then turned back to Clara, helping her down from the saddle and supporting her tired body.
The man pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest.
"My love, you did great. You're safe now. We're home."
"Ernest, my love... You saved us."
He held her close, his arms tight around her. He rested his chin on the top of her head, his exhaustion finally caught up with him. He could see the other staff running out to help, but for a moment he just held Clara and ignored the surroundings. His heart filled with gladness that they were in Edgewater, safe and together now.
"You need to get warm and rest, my love. Let the staff help you inside. I need to take care of Belle."
"But she's my horse."
"I know, Clara. Belle means a lot to you. And Sir Harper is very skilled and will take good care of Belle. But you need to rest too. Let me take you inside."
"Yes, please."
Ernest nodded and wrapped an arm around her waist to support her weary body. He helped her walk slowly towards the house, his movements gentle and caring. He could feel how tired his Clara was, and it pained him to see her like this. But he knew that soon she'd be warm and comfortable, safe and sound in their manor. When Ernest noticed her stumble, he reacted quickly. He caught her, pulling his wife gently against his side, holding her up. His eyes scan her face, filled with worry.
"Careful, my love. Are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm good. Just tripped, but I'm good."
"Good. Hang on to me, Clara. We're almost there."
"Ernest, I'm the countess of this estate and look like a mess. Hurry upstairs, I don't want anyone to see me like this."
"My love, even when you're exhausted and disheveled, you're still the most beautiful countess and woman in all of Great Britain.", he chuckled and kissed her cheek. Despite the situation, he couldn't help but tease her wife a bit.
"Ernest..."
His heart lightened at the sight of her expression as he continued walking towards the house with his arm tight around her waist.
"Oh, don't give me that look. You know I'm right."
Eventually, they reached the front steps of the house, where only a few of the staff were awake. The rest of the house and family members were already asleep, unaware of the events. The doors of the estate opened for them, and the warm light from inside shined out into the night. Ernest guided Clara through the threshold, his hand still on her waist, supporting her.
"I want the bed now."
"Of course, love. The bed, some food, clean clothes... You'll have it all, anything you want. First, let's get you upstairs. You look like you're about to fall over."
He led her to the staircase, his pace slow and patient as he took the time to help her up each step. His own blue eyes heavy with tiredness, but his care for her never wavered.
Eventually, they reached their chambers. Ernest helped his wife inside. A welcome sight after their long journey. The bed looked soft and inviting. The warm fireplace was already lit and crackling.
He guided her towards the bed, helping her to sit down, and leaned her against the piles of pillows.
"You're safe, my love. You're home."
"I hope Belle..."
"Shhh... My dear Clara darling... Sir Luke Harper will now take good care of her tonight. You need to rest and trust him. And we'll check on Belle first thing in the morning."
"Thanks."
"Of course, my love. It's the least I can do. Now, lay back. You need to rest."
Ernest smiled softly, watching as Clara closed her eyes and started to drift off. He reached forward, gently tucking the blankets around her, making sure she was comfortable and warm. A sigh of relief escaped his lips. They're safe, they're home, and she's finally getting the rest she so desperately needed.

The morning sun was just starting to peek over the horizon as Ernest and Clara made their way down to the stables. The air was crisp and chilly. The morning dew still clinging to the grass. When the couple reached the stables, the familiar sounds and smells of the horses filled the air. The husband lead her towards Belle's stable. His heart was heavy with concern as they didn't know what condition the poor horse might be in.
The horse was lying down, several soft bedrolls and blankets placed beneath her to provide some comfort. A fresh bandage around Belle's injured leg. Immediately, Clara hugged Belle, which brought a soft smile to his face. Ernest could see the relief and love in Clara's eyes as she gently caressed the horse's head. Belle whickered softly, but she responded to Clara's touch and her muscles relaxed slightly.
It was clear that the horse and the countess shared a special bond. A connection that went beyond mere friendship. They're practically inseparable. Two souls joined together by their mutual strength and spirit. That was Team Clara-Belle.

GIF interpretation: Alex kisses Nik awake.
"Woah... Nik and crying? That must be a very hard one. I hope I didn't look like that before I woke up. He looks horrible. I need to make a photo for blackmailing attempts."
"Katherine, don't be always so harsh to him. We were all crying until Cal found us and woke us up from the nightmare vision.", Vera calmly whispered, her eyes still filled with tears from the nightmare she had.
"I think Nik looks cute."
"Do you like seeing him cry, Alex?"
"No, of course not. I just said that he looks and that's it. Now let's wake up our crying baby boy.", she leaned closer to Nik and planted a warm kiss on his cheeks.
To awaken Alex's sleeping prince, Nik Ryder, and shield him from nightmares and horrifying visions. The man slowly fluttered his swollen eyes open as he was lying on the floor facing his loyal companions, Cal, Katherine, Vera, and Alex.
"What the...?"
"Good morning, my sleeping beauty. Awake?", Alex sobbed, still remembering her own vision from before.
"Alex?"
"It was just a bad dream you had. Whatever it was, it's not true. You're appreciated and loved no matter what. We're glad to have you, Nik.", she whispered, bent over his body, and cupped his face, stroking it softly.
"But Alex, it felt so real. What if it happens? What if it's a sign? I don't want to lose you again, rook."
"Shhh, don't worry. You won't get rid of that easily. If it wasn't for both of us, we would have never met or gotten that close befriended with Cal, Katherine, and Vera. Nik, if we hadn't met, I would've never found out that I was a fae or who my real father was. We would have never defeated the bloodwraith. We would have never... It's all because of you, Nik. Thank you.", she thanked him, but also thanked Fate who or which brought them together. Bound by Fate.
"Thanks, rook. I hope you didn't wake everyone up with a kiss and just only me. How is that even possible cuz this happens only in fairytales?" he nervously asked, which made her giggle. The tension from the nightmares somehow faded away, and everyone felt a little lighter now.
"Of course not, Nik. The kiss was only for you, my Prince of Swords. And if unicorns, fae, and werewolves existed in fairytales and our world, then why can't I wake you up with a fairytale kiss?"
"True.", he chuckled while she helped him up, so both could stand on their feet next to their friends.
"Thanks to Cal, we could all wake just in time, one by one. Or else we would have all stayed captured in this place, this world, this dimension forever. Captured in our nightmares."
"Sometimes I'm glad to be a werewolf for service, Katherine. Now that my precious pack is back and united... Let's find a way back home."
"But what if we try to find the mirror that leads us back home and end up in a nightmare or bad vision again?" Katherine asked.
"Perhaps I could help?" a mysterious but familiar voice from the shadows. It was too dark to see until slowly the mysterious figure stepped out from the shadows. Elegantly dressed in a black robe, smokey make-up, and black gloves... It was her. The Vera Reimonenq from the different dimensions looked a little different than the original, but not that much. That mysterious beauty in the shadows finally showed herself to the group.
"You're the other Vera, right? We need your help. Could you please...?", Alex got interrupted by her friend's doppelganger.
"Pardon me, but I was Vera. Now, I'm Lady Shadow, and you have entered my territory.", she spoke, which shocked the whole group.
Even the real Vera was shocked about her look-alike, parted her glossy lips, and couldn't understand what changed her like that. She would never want to follow in her mother's footsteps.
"But how? What made you...?", Katherine dared to ask, but the mysterious woman ignored her. Her dark eyes landed on Vera who stood with her friends.
"Is she a shapeshifter, or why does she look like the old me?", she calmly asked, and the real Vera Reimonenq confidently stepped up to answer.
"I'm Vera Reimonenq from another dimension than you. I don't know what happened to you or in your life, but I request you to lead us to the golden-framed mirror which you just bought hours ago. It's the only way for me and my friends to return back to our world before it's too late. It's no ordinary mirror, but a portal."
"And why should I help someone who looks like me or strangers who I don't know? Besides, your silver-haired friend doesn't trust me anymore because who knows what Elijah Ryder told you about me. I'm not like my mother and I wanted to tell you myself that I'm cursed, but he pushed you to stay away from me for your safety."
"It wasn't me, but my own doppelganger. Is that the reason why you ran away from me when I called you? There must be a misunderstanding between you and the Alex from your world because your friendship means a lot to me. I'm sorry to hear this.", Alex explained, stepped closer and gently squeezed her shoulder.
"Vera, you're the sweetest person of all. Don't become like your mother because you're stronger. And we all are lucky to have you as a friend.", Cal added which lifted the heart of both Vera's.
"Don't worry, I may be Lady Shadow but I'm not like my mother. I live in the Shadows of my mother to serve justice and support the innocent ones in the World of Day and the World of Night. My mom and nobody else even realize when I plot something behind her back because I'm Lady Shadow for her and the public. The one who stays hidden like a shadow."
"Damn, Lady Shadow sounds even more cunning and dangerous than Lady Smoke. That's just brilliant.", Nik chuckled. He was amazed just like everyone else in the group.
"Our Vera is a fighter!! At least one of our doppelgangers hasn't changed into a bad one."
"You're amazing, Vee." Katherine praised and gave a soft punch on her shoulder to encourage her.
So many good words, positive emotions, and encouragement, which the Shadow Vera hadn't received for such a long time, lifted her spirit. Now, she was very sure that she was doing the right thing. Even when it looked like for everyone, that she was supporting her mother with her criminal deeds. Hopefully, one day, her old friend, Alex, the huntress, will find out the truth and realize that Vera is not like her mother after all. She hadn't changed and was still the lovely friend she first met.
And with that, Lady Shadow finally guided the group of friends towards the mirror they were all searching for. She promised them after they leave, to immediately destroy the mirror so that nobody would ever again accidently enter the portal. Their key back home. Just in time before sunrise, they stepped inside one by one. At first, Nik hestitated to finally leave the world where his parents and Elijah were alive, but holding his girlfriend's hand gave him courage. And then they entered... And faced a bright light. They were falling.
"Wake up, mon amies.", a familiar voice with a French accent called out. Alexis felt a warm hand shaking her by the shoulder. Her chocolate-brown eyes fluttered slowly open and she found herself lying on the floor of Luc's souvenir shop in New Orleans. Next to her was Katherine, rubbing her eyes open while Luc helped Vera up on her feet. Nik stretched himself while, next to him, Cal was already awake.
"What happened? Where are we?", Vera asked. She felt dizzy, disorientated until Luc guided her on a chair.
"Mon chérie, everything is fine. You all found Alex and made it back. Do you all need a glass of water?"
Everyone declined Luc's kind offer because they started to feel better. Dizziness was only a short side-effect of traveling across different dimensions, and they soon felt better.
"Hey, we all made it just in time back home!!", Cal cheered.
"Not so fast, buddy. Are we really back in our world or...?"
"Nik, Luc recognizes us all. Right, Luc?"
"Mais oui, why wouldn't I? I'm so happy you found Alexis. Who thought this mirror would turn out to be a portal? But I'm glad I found out just in time through with my magical crystal ball which showed me what I needed to know. I immediately informed you all about the missing of our Alexis. She stood there, I went to the backroom and et viola... Poof!! And she was gone."
"Well, we're all together now. That's what matters. Back united like it was meant to be.", Alex answered.
Bound by Fate. A roguish nighthunter. A lonely werewolf. A strong huntress. A beautiful Reimonenq. And at last, a half-fae royalty. All with a difficult past behind them, became together a group of heroes. And friends. To protect the World of Day and the World of Night from evil. One depended on the other. This crazy, little adventure they just had made them realize how important each of them was. Their lives, despite their unhappy backstory, wouldn't be the same ones they would have now if even one of them was missing. They shared a bond. Enjoy the happy and positive things instead of regretting the past. Be happy and enjoy the little moments with friends, family, and lovers. Treasure them in your heart and shine bright.
"I love you, Nik. I missed you and I got so worried about us. I don't want to lose you.", Alex confessed.
Nik moved closer to his girlfriend, wrapped his strong arms around her slim body for comfort, and rested his face on hers.
"God, I'm so sorry for all the pain I caused you. Forgive me. I can't live without you and it killed me every second, every heartbeat we were apart. I swear it won't happen again. And you know that I... I love you too, rook. Till the death.", he whispered before they kissed.
