Kali: Well, I certainly remember my dress being worn more than once.

Blake: Ew. Mom. Too much info.

Kali: (chuckles) Not like that, dear. I meant you.

Blake: (laughs in disbelief) What? Me?

Kali: Yes, you. (Places a hand on Blake’s shoulder) I remember a little girl with excitable little ears-

Kali: -who would sneak into my closet, find my old wedding dress, and wear it around the house and pretend she was a fairy princess.

Blake: (ears slowly peel up into a relaxed position) I... didn't realize that was your old wedding dress... I remember falling down the stairs because I wanted to wear heels with it, and it ripped right down the middle.

Kali: A fond memory of mine. I assure you.

Blake: You're kidding.

Kali: Not at all. While I only wore that dress once, the memories I got from the dozens of times you wore it was more than worth the money.

Blake: Okay.... I'll look on some of the other racks.

Kali: Good. Because I think I see a Menagerian style dress over there?

Blake: (ears perk up) Really? Where? (Sees the dress and sprints over to it) Brothers above! Mom! This is perfect!

Honestly trying to decide if it would be rude/poor etiquette to go to a wedding dress boutique I have no intention of purchasing a dress at. This boutique is very upfront that their dresses average $2k and my honest budget is like $500... But they sell some dress brands that are frequently resold in great condition on eBay and Poshmark.

My dilemma is, even just the initial consultation is 2 hours long. If I lie about my budget (a required question for an appointment) and say it's like $1800, the salesperson might be expecting that the time they're putting in will give them a great sale. Really though, I'm just using their brick and mortar store to see how a dress I'll buy for 75% less actually fits on me.

I'm not saying I definitely won't buy anything at this place. I'm still in the market for a bridal cape and tiara. I love accessories. My mom still needs a MoB dress. If I buy a nice accessory and drop my stylist's name in case they get a commission, would that be.. less bad?

Any brides on a budget done this before? I just got a $10k electrical bill and really don't want to put all my wedding expenses on a credit card!

I just got engaged today. Me and my boyfriend took a trip to Slovenia over the weekend and he proposed to me. 🤍 He planned it all, I just thought that he was taking me on a Valentines day trip over the weekend, but I got a pleasant surprise instead. Went to Baltimore with @lemondread yesterday and came home in triumph with this incredible 1920s evening coat!

It needs a tiny bit of TLC (mostly moving one of those buttons, it clearly should sit lower) but it’s gorgeous and I’m so excited about it!!!
