putting my prediction on record now that the coming decade is going to see the rise of viral-marketed fancy at-home water filtration systems, driving and driven by a drastic reduction in the quality of U.S. tap water (given that we are in a 'replacement era' where our current infrastructure is reaching the end of its lifespan--but isn't being replaced). also guessing that by the 2030s access to drinkable tap water will be a mainstream class issue, with low-income & unstably housed people increasingly forced to rely on expensive bottled water when they can't afford the up-front cost of at-home filtration--and with this being portrayed in media as a "moral failing" and short-sighted "choice," rather than a basic failure of our political & economic systems. really hope i'm just being alarmist, but plenty of this already happens in other countries, and the U.S. is in a state of decline, so. here's praying this post ages into irrelevance. timestamped April 2023

it absolutely tickles me that the show is hyper-concerned with how galadriel sees sauron. she's the one talking about him with elrond. she's the one talking about him with gil-galad. she's the one remembering her moments with halbrand. she's the one discussing with adar what sauron may or may not have promised her. but the fandom is hyper-concerned with how sauron sees galadriel. it is the complete inverse of the writers. it's like we decided, 'obviously she's not the problem child. he is. I want orange to get the hangman page journey so bad rn because there's something immensely tragically beautiful about the funny chill guy getting everything ripped from him, barely processing one of his dearest friends betraying him and losing everything already, someone already in that bleak mindset being forced to stand up for the new friends he cares about, ending up in a leadership position he hates, and still after all that fucking. failing completely. and failing and losing to the point that evil wins. that evil takes even more that he cares about. he put everything up and he still loses everything.

give the guy that in canon could barely work up the effort for his first ppv match a journey where he's lost it all a hundred times over. tell him after the entire universe is like "fuck you stay down." give that guy a journey where he keeps getting up. he puts himself back together, he becomes a truer self, and after an arduous journey putting himself back together while every other hero tries and fails to conquer the dragon, let him have that one last shot and have him be the one to overcome everything, not just the unspeakable all reaching evil, not just the traumas, but everything about himself that held him back and let him be the one to save the day.

I think about Chase's line in Three Minus Bree "I'll go talk to her" all the time. It reveals so much about AB&C's dynamic that goes otherwise unsaid.

Bree obviously wants to connect with Donald as daughter and father. She resents being seen as a tool or a weapon. This is where a lot of their conflict (& Bree's character in general) comes from.

Meanwhile, Chase is more of a "golden child". He connects with Donald more because they're both geniuses & because Chase takes to his role as a bionic hero much better/more enthusiastically than the other two. For Donald, he's the easier child. Chase also likes to think of himself as more rational/logical than his siblings (though that's not really true lol), he probably would say that Bree's outburst was childish although secretly he agrees with a lot of what she said.

And Adam... eugh. We never really see him get mad at Donald or take his side, he mostly just goes along with his siblings. Do you think that's because he was raised a household where tensions were high and he wanted to keep things peaceful? We know that Adam is very observant, especially when it comes to his siblings, and he's very protective over them as well. I can't help but feel like he plays up his silliness because he wants to keep them happy in the only way he can...

How often do you think this sort of thing happened? Bree lashing out & Chase talking her down, Adam watching awkwardly. Do you think it happened often? Do you think Bree resents them for it? Do you think they resent her? Do you think

Not sure if this has been asked yet, but is it possible to prioritize both the public and the elite? I had an option closed off to me saying I didn't prioritize the elites enough. Not surprising tbh because I did pick options favoring the public at like...every opportunity, but is it possible through some combination of choices that both groups would feel favored?

Nope, you will never be able to prioritize both, and that's a very purposeful choice. They're completely diametrically opposed to each other in pretty much every way.

Keep in mind the elite couldn't exist if they did not exploit the public. The entire basis of their existence has been built by oppressing the lower classes. Prioritizing the elite means enabling their exploitation of the public (and maximizing your own power through those means), and prioritizing the public means curbing the power of the elite so that they can't take advantage of the public.

So, yeah, it wouldn't make sense to be able to prioritize both.

I read a text post about a character and it had super surface level shit, but it was presented as "look at Frank from this angle", and it was just

frontal picture with one focus perspective kind of deal. It described information that was given blatantly in the game, however the post presented it as a revelation of some sort? Where's the angle?

But then I thought that maybe not all people are into said character, or maybe their focus was elsewhere while playing, or whatever. And like,

That's so not a big deal, I can't blame others for not getting something on the go, why should I go to my friends and laugh about them for not getting something that I saw and they didn't? Also, I may not even be right about Frank. How about that?

I remember back in the ME fandom people reading way too much into a beloved character, and when some of the universally accepted analyses were brought to their writer, their answer was "you're reading way too much into this".

Imagine asking something very basic to an expert out of genuine curiosity because you're not seeing what their trained eye sees, and their reaction would be laughing in your face and call you stupid. Except that nobody is an expert and you're asking for help on how to make cutouts

Isn't the most important thing that we're passionate about the same thing? Because like, the more I thought about my instinct of just, wanting to roast that post (and consequently the person) with my friends, the more I remembered seeing the same attitude around, frequently, and lately it's so severe that it prompted others to make polls on feeling stupid for enjoyed things (the number of people picking yes, holy shit, that was heartbreaking)

I like Frank, they like Frank, maybe we should focus on this rather than bringing out the pedestals, and I'm talking to myself first because I tend to do this when I like something so intensely that my perspective becomes The Perspective(TM). And it isn't.

I'm a physical therapist, so sometimes I find it fascinating to consider the amount of strength, coordination, endurance, and agility that is required for Star Wars characters (especially non-Force users) to pull off certain stunts/physical feats.

So, in reference to the crouched walking/running we often see Clone Force 99 (and particularly Tech) engage in during missions...

Can we take a moment to admire just how strong their legs are???

That's not even talking about the general balance, coordination, and flexibility necessary to do crouched walking without falling over, not to mention running.

(Special shout out to Echo, who does this on two prosthetic legs - meaning he's essentially performing this feat while balancing on two-jointed stilts and using the muscle power in only his hips/upper thighs.)
