okay I think I need to thank my media arts teacher if I see him when I'm visiting my old high school because all that "I want to do more multimedia stuff with my digital art" is almost entirely because of his class

#I took the same class every year for the last three years of high school #which was just getting sat in front of an imac and learning the basic features of adobe suite every year #started out hating it because adobe is of course a pain #for my final project in my senior year I ended up basically bullshitting some live2d rigging in after effects with the puppet tool #and did a little angel kanata animation with that (that's actually posted on my blog if you wanna look)#I learned a lot about layer hierarchy and how gifs actually fucking work because exporting that was a NIGHTMARE #but I really liked making it #would love to make something similar but I don't have after effects anymore nor live2d #we'll see what I do there

#poorly drawn mdzs #mdzs #wei wuxian #jiang cheng #wen qing #a-yuan #I had a few different ideas for what do for 'JC visits WWX in the burial mounds' but I must say...#JC's genuine baffled outburst at why the hell WWX has a child running around really took me out.#WWX for his credit isn't much of a fatherly figure. More of a 'cool uncle that occasionally plays but has work to do.'#I know it is a common fan headcanon to put WWX as a surrogate parent to A-yuan. It's cute though I don't really see it!#All the Wen remnants and WWX have something a lot more complex than a straightforward found family thing going on.#It certainly isn't a little western nuclear family unit. They are bound by trauma and guilt and they will *not* talk about it.#A-Yuan is the representation of all the children lost to the war. He is also a little seedling that there is hope for the future.#And he is an opportunity for WWX to reconnect with his own displaced childhood.#Right now his rather dismissive of him but we'll get there. Wei Wuxian will have his unhealthy coping mechanism moment with this child.#I sure hope nothing bad happens to them! I hope Jiang Cheng just comes by for a nice visit!

This is slowly going from a low quality, low effort, ha ha funny au to something I am genuinely invested in.

No brain worm, we weren't supposed to get this into it. But like all of those thoughts of "we could totally set that dry grass on fire" "what if we put an octo balloon on an explosive barrel" legit work as something a skull kid would suggest, and we had A LOT of those thoughts playing botw.

Honestly, scrolling through old art and seeing how much I've missed skull kids and how I still haven't coped with disliking totk, in hindsight this was bound to happen. Grandma Midna wasn't on the bingo card tho.

The second D stands for DooowawawaWaaaah (ADHDers know what I mean)#Their conversation is such a knife twist in this flashback. WWX truly and genuinely does mean it when he says he wants to support JC #And that JC hopes for that too! Tragedies hit the hardest when you can feel the lost futures characters would have together #And I feel it here in this scene so painfully. There's complicated feelings between them but it wasn't what broke them apart.#The rumours and the twisted family dynamics that tried to pit them against each other likely wouldnt have worked.#It set the stage for JC to have an inferiority complex which then grows into his responsibility complex.#WWX even calls it out! That JC has to be the responsible one in the dynamic.#And it sucks to be in that unequal position with a sibling or a not-sibling.#You don't get the love *or* acknowledgement but you do get the pressure to be the 'better one' in the face of the other's misbehaviour.#But I digress. There was a world where they did became the twin heroes of yunmeng jiang and stayed together.#And we'll never see it. That world is gone now. And just like Lotus pier -even if they tried to rebuild it - they will never be the same.
