EV's are saving the car industry, not the environment. The fact that it's a "cleaner" source of energy is just a nice buzzword they can advertise with. It's Greenwashing.

Lithium is straight up not part of a green future imo, it's as bad as coal and gas* if not worse in some ways. You aren't personally seeing the damage on the environment first hand because advertisers sell it as a clean energy source, but it is catastrophic to the local water table and environment. I'm not saying it isn't a step towards a greener future. Moving away from non-renewable resources is always a good thing (even if lithium isn't renewable, just able to be recharged with renewable energy). That being said, hand waving away the problems the industry does have keeps letting manufacturers and mining companies as a whole get away with letting these issues continue. Especially in regards to safety. This includes musk mans teslas

There is already a post in the notes about the actual mining of lithium and the fact in many countries, workers are currently being exploited (child labor) and not being protected during the mining process. Lithium is incredibly toxic, and the process needs water in order to separate the lithium AND cobalt salts via evaporation to purify them. Many facilities that do this create massive open air pools that are well known to be leaking these toxic salts into the soil, not to mention the fumes are incredibly toxic. The important thing to note though, is these open air "lakes" at this point in time are not REVERSIBLE. Once they are established that section of land is permanently damaged by the salts, acids and polluted water leaching into the soil. Op mentioned this, but it IS something people should think about when purchasing and using EV's or any device that has lithium batteries for that matter.

My main beef with lithium batteries, esp with vehicles and the scooters is how dangerous the batteries are. There are multiple scientists which I will link some of their videos to that are attempting to educate and warn both firefighter's and the public about how volatile those batteries are. I am also not the only one having issues with the safety, while it is currently cheaper to afford an EV the insurance rates on those cars is going to be going up if it hasn't already in your area. It has in mine. Many cities (in my country at least) are also restricting where these vehicles can be parked, there are bylaws being passed that won't allow EV's to be parked underground or in sheltered parking areas (including garages that are shared with other vehicles). Why? Because these batteries (esp if they aren't laboratory tested and approved) if overcharged can spontaneously combust while parked. The fumes these flames produce is also incredibly toxic compared to standard gas fires (Hydrofluoric gas) among other chemicals which are severely under studied on how they are affecting your body beyond the obvious hydrofluoric acid that burns your lungs/nose/eyes. Hazmat is called for EV fires for these reasons.

These fires are also much hotter then traditional gas fires, capable of melting asphalt and concrete within seconds of ignition. Hence why the ban on underground parking because a lithium fire WILL cause structural support damage. And it isn't just overcharging, mechanical damage, wear and tear, water will all cause the batteries to catastrophically fail. There is footage of an EV having a minor collision with another vehicle that was enough to cause it to combust shown in the video link I have bellow. Most standard EV's also have their batteries stored on the bottom of the car in a sealed metal case instead of under the hood like with gas powered engines (you are sitting over the battery), this also means that if there is a fire there is the additional challenge for firefighters to be able to put out the flame due to it being blocked by the actual vehicle itself. Public transport EV's (buses) have them on the roof but the rate of failure in those batteries is even higher then personal EV's at the moment because of overcharging and cheap batteries that fail to meet standards.

Thermal runaway means that through the chemical reaction occurring, the fire is able to produce its own fuel, oxygen and heat to remain burning. There are many cases where once these fires start they can burn for literal days. It takes 40x the water compared to a standard gas fire to smother, and even then it isn't effective because it is a class B fire, meaning that you need chemical foams or carbon dioxide to kill the fire, which again is hard if its on the underside of the vehicle. These batteries can also REIGNITE DAYS TO WEEKS AFTER THE INITIAL FIRE BTW.

I want to restate that i do NOT want to keep driving around in a gas powered vehicle, I want a greener future! But tesla is just the tip of the iceberg for the problems that the EV and battery industry is facing/downplaying. These are topics that should be discussed and just because people have safety concerns doesn't make them gas guzzlers, that is very disingenuous. Alot of people concerned are people who are knowledgeable about the industry, or are people who are trained to deal with fires and such related to these industries.

The answer in my mind isn't to sit there and downplay these peoples concerns, but to address the very real elephant in the room. People have the right to make informed decisions about their purchases. If you want to look past all this so that you can support a company that may or may not work towards a greener future, that is your choice. But people who want to wait for safer alternatives are not wrong for doing so either. But if we are going to be stuck with lithium batteries for the foreseeable future there needs to be a push from voters to push policies to crack down on second hand battery sales, screening and banning of sub par non lab tested batteries, the removal of underground parking, and public education on battery maintenance and safety. But ultimately we need to get away from Lithium. You could argue its a stepping stone in the right direction, but until you remove big oil from the entire process of producing, powering and repairing/maintaining these vehicles it's still not a green solution.

please do not go so hard at "Elon is terrible and the Cybertruck is a dumpster fire" (which is true) that you somehow make your way to "electric cars are all ticking time bombs" (which is false, and mostly said by people who want to keep driving combustion engine cars perpetually because they think the climate crisis is made up)

YO OKAY SO LIKE GOD, I know I KNOW it's been a sec since I've been on this blog [good fucking god I need to revamp it] but I finally FINALLY got out of my tunnel visioned Eddsworld haze to announce Im SUPER foaming at the mouth about Epic the musical rn.

What that means I'm unsure yet, because yes I like the musical, but it also catapulted me back into mythology appreciation, ofc greek takes majority, but my own country's pantheon is also on my mind atm we'll see where this goes

A lot of early concept stuff was expression/pose brainstorming - there’s the classic six Webkinz emotions (which, I learned have been largely pared down to just four after a point! Since they got rid of Dr. Quack’s role, there’s no more “sick” expression and most ‘Kinz’ tired and sad expressions are the same! >:0 What’s the point of having an easily editable puppet with the spaghetti code intact that you have to put an image there AnyWay and not make a slightly different expression!! H’f) as well as the main Sakura poses - so if I’m already making up expressions, why no go a little further! :D

One of the expressions I definitely needed up top was Mischievous - working with a cat, that’s the only logical conclusion really. I think it’s funny that she swerves the compliment only to pay it right back as well lol

The ticklish expression is one I’m still going back and forth on! I’m half tempted to have it be somewhere between happy and angry - maybe a mood gradient, starting out just positive and slowly moving into “Hey stop! >:0″ if it’s too many times in a row? It’s a thought haha

Similarly so, messing with her ears - bothering your pets is a very important element of socialization (lol)

As seen above, I’d reallyyy like to figure a way to have a dual-visual mood system - both the ‘Kinz body language/expression/emotion and a more exact stat bar. I’m still chewing on this idea a bit, no pun intended lol. That and click-and-drag with an actual image you can drag around your screen, hm and hm! Much to think about. Her face here turned out cute and funny haha, helped me push the expression more comedic

Much better :) Webkinz already has some well-known food dialogue, my favourite is probably “Mmm to the mmmax!” haha

Each low-mood would have their own emotion tied to it, but what about somewhere in the middle? I like the idea of the ‘Kinz getting bored if they’re left alone for too long! And little paw taps, showing off her embroidered paw pad haha ♪

Soooooo... DR Lloyd.

Yeah, he has fucked up badly in S2, Visions and Teacher wise

Let's talk. (S1 and S2 spoilers)

Right, DR Lloyd is genuinely so interesting, and mainly because he fails at SO MANY of his personal goals, ironically, in an attempt to achieve those goals, because he has the right mindset.

But he makes the wrong decisions...

First of all, I wanna bring up his Visions:

So we already know that there's been an ENTIRE year between Season 1 and Season 2 of Dragons Rising, so really quite a while.

And according to Lloyd himself, he's been having these visions since after the Imperium Source Dragon thing when they saved the world again.

So... Seriously, why didn't he just tell the others?

From a pure logic perspective this sorta doesn't make any sense, this isn't Wildbrain Era or Crystalized Lloyd, this is a whole new him, most accepted theory for the Merge is that it's been 5 years since it happened (6 by the time of S2), and we still don't know how much it's been since pre-merge and Crystalized.

Lloyd's obviously had time to heal and get in a better mental state, his behaviour switch from Crystalized to Dragons Rising is enough evidence of that not to mention overall Demeanor.

He doesn't have his Seasons 11-13 trust issues, or his Crystalized anger issues, so... What gives?

Now granted, some people might see that this is a bit insensitive or inconsiderate towards Lloyd, but given how much he's been through, how much he's grown and how much he should trust the ninja (which he VERY MUCH DOES BY THE WAY, Ep3 of DR Season 2 with his little chat with Nya, and the countless times she's comforted him during the Season), it calls into question as to why he didn't tell the ninja about his visions...

And like, I'm sorry but at this point this seems like extremely overlooked potential, Zane???

Like, there's literally a guy on your team who's had visions, terrible ones at that, before, why not go talk to him about it??

I'm just, really confused specifically by this aspect...

And another aspect, this being his Teaching:

1 YEAR SINCE SEASON 1, AND YOU HAVEN'T TAUGHT SORA OR ARIN PROPER SPINJITZU??? HELLO?

I am not holding back with this one, because this just seems like a massive oversight on his side that, depending on you view it, seriously fucked over the team majorly...

And you know why I find it so inexcusable?

1 Word: Wyldfyre.

The glow she's had when it comes to her fighting skills is actually insane, if you've watched the last 2 Episodes of Season 2 you'd KNOW how well she fought against the Wolf Clan, and Wyldfyre is not really even Lloyd's thing, she's more Kai's thing.

Granted, Kai's not taught her Spinjitzu, and he should be given shit for that as well, but when you compare her to Sora?

Yeah it sorta falls apart...

Sora didn't even know how to jump up high enough while preforming the moves for Spinjitzu, meanwhile Wyldfyre is fresh off of her injury and she's moving crazy quickly around every enemy.

That and... Arin.

Lloyd has no excuse for Arin, straight up.

Arin's got the motivation and drive to learn new skills, he's the same kid that managed to solo learn a weird form of Spinjitzu, with self taught ninja moves PURELY from watching his heros fighting.

So why, in the bloody hell, did Lloyd double down on his unique Spinjitzu, that he hasn't been able to get better at for the last year despite extensive training, instead of at the VERY LEAST teaching him Spinjitzu basics?

Again, 1st Fang ninja statue is designated to those who need to learn Spinjitzu first, and it's criminal that ARIN out of ALL people, had to be PUT in it.

And I have to say, all that considered + Lloyd's constant attempts at reassuring Arin like the kid missed up, and the times he told him to be patient, it really puts a bad taste in my mouth for Lloyd.

Lloyd you are not helping, Arin's been more then patient, and he's not gotten better any single bit at his Unique Spinjitzu or fighting Skills, this is a you problem and you don't even realise it.

You're trying too hard to be like Wu, when in S1 you should've at least gotten a small hint you don't have to be like him, like not even full acknowledgement, just a hint!

This might seem a bit rambly and emotion fuelled so I'm sorry for that, but DR Lloyd frustrates me with his decisions, don't get me wrong I still like him, the show emphasises the importance of Mental Health a lot of times through him, by Representing panic attacks and his extreme anxiety using him, and that's awesome!

What isn't very awesome however, is all the aforementioned problems with his character (that I find at least).
