Funniest bit of the dnd movie is Xenk clearly being an NPC the DM introduced for lore and plot purposes who’s a competent fighter because of course he is, his reputation and backstory require it. But whoopsies the DM made him too powerful, the whole party likes him, and now they want him to come with to fight the BBEG which will completely and utterly fuck up the encounter balance

So instead of there being any actual plot reason he can’t join Xenk just says “I can’t. This is something only you can do.” And then walks off, never to interact with the party again because the DM just knows those little shits will find a way to use their OP creation against them

Hey I just finished Hilda season 3 and I am forever changed.

I joke that I could write a thesis about some media but I could really truly talk for hours about how fucking good Hilda is.

It’s core strength, which tears at my heart and soul so earnestly, is that it is not just a story about child adventurer, but equally a story about the MOTHER of a child adventurer and it’s just so beautiful. So impactful.

I think Johanna may be one of my favorite characters… ever. I think she is Absolutey Incredible.

Season three was just so amazing, the whole series is. I beg y’all to watch it because it’s so so good and deserves all the love it can get.

maybe it's because they'd hate each other? it can't be because they're the same person, I shipped murder x killer before, but for some reason this feels weird to me. to give some reasoning the main way I've seen it is due to a toxic friend so maybe it's personal? idk all I do know is that it irks me so much I block someone of they draw it

okay I’m going to be critical of DAV for a second.

caveat: there’s obviously a lot I like about modern dragon age and Veilguard. I’m having a lot of fun in the fandom right now. I love the new characters, i think the different backgrounds and factions are great, I think the game is very enjoyable to actually play overall. etc.

But there is a lot to criticize when it comes to the writing in DAV, given 1) the way the game ignores (and frankly doesn’t seem to understand) so much of its own lore and 2) complexity and nuance are stripped from the game, making it feel shallow compared to it’s predecessors. Frankly the lack of depth and nuance is baffling to me.

Controversial opinion: I think BioWare should have canonized a worldstate if they couldn’t write a game that meaningfully incorporated the player’s previous choices. To completely leave out any mention of the results of these choices leaves huge, important aspects of the world of Thedas untouched in Veilguard. And you can feel the absence!

It’s incredibly bizarre for the game not to mention, for example, who is Divine, or who is ruling Ferelden. Rather than avoiding a problem (players won’t have their decisions catered to) they’ve created a totally different one (the divine/ruler of ferelden isn’t mentioned at all when they should be hugely important.) Wiping out Southern Thedas is a far worse solution IMO than just being like “Alistair’s king, Loghain’s dead, there’s an old god baby” etc.

The comics canonized a worldstate, and if they can’t write games that incorporate prior player choices meaningfully, the games should too. Because leaving out these aspects or “wiping the slate clean” is LESS satisfying by far.

i feel like Red would understand the implications considering his mother was a celestial, still considered royalty (or at least high nobility) and still upholds a lot of the old ways and traditions. he probably spoke with her and his father beforehand about this. i do think he also played a big part in forming the whole matching themes idea. As much as he denies it he really is as impulsive and passion-driven as Mei and Mk. (also you can't tell me he's not a big romance buff, his parent's love story was straight-up a romance drama. and this matching theme idea would be super dramatic and romantic of course he's gonna encourage it and fret over the potential consequences later.) with Mei, i feel like it be the same with her parents although there not celestial there still dragon nobility and would of understood the implications. but considering Mei doesn't pay much attention to traditions or noble ways she probably doesn't know or doesn't fully grasp the concept. or if she does, does not give two shits. her parents are probably worried but ultimately fine with it maybe proud even.

While I agree that they would be aware of it in some capacity, they probably wouldn’t understand how big of a deal it was. Redsons probably only heard the romanticized version of his parents love story, leaving out a lot of the real struggles they must have faced as. Mei, like you said, would likely not have paid it much mind, and she’s just as, if not more so, impulsive then Red.

Both sets of parents are proud and back up their kids… but they do end up having to pull them aside after the whole thing, and explain why it was so important.

Wukong and Macaque do try and warn mk of the implications, but monkies gonna Monkie, and mk ain’t backing down. Nezha is his and his alone. Ao Bing can suck it!

But they do eventually learn how big of a blunder they could have made, especially with the tension between the Ao Guang and Li Jing potentially turning into something bigger, since it could be seen as an insult against Guang. (Something Jing is maybe a bit happy to do)

my friend i have scoured, deep sea dived, deep cleaned, poker all-inned and i have never once in my rdr2 career ever been able to find a positive interaction between them in canon. i didn’t think they even had ANY for the longest time until someone found one and its literally javier threatening kieran … which i would personally not categorize as “domestic bliss”. i think our best bet for canon content is crossing our fingers and praying that the ai for them in camp has them sit next to each other momentarily

ohmygod. henry’s cipher and his coded diary, right. so that virginia couldn’t read it. and stav mentioned something about how early on in the showings, the “key” had something to do with captain midnight. and if scott was friends with henry when they were kids, I guarantee he was into captain midnight too…

scott are you gonna be the key to unlocking henry’s old diary. are we gonna find henry’s diary and they’re gonna decipher the code and learn the truth that way. it’s written word, not a memory that can be meddled with and warped. it might be the most objective truth we have about the whole situation

Saw a judgement on He Tian being the one to beat She Li instead of Mo but tbh I really don’t think that hurt Mo’s arc at all. I think it meant a lot actually, that Mo wasn’t fighting alone and for once allowed He Tian to fight FOR HIM and in turn fought for He Tian.

Not to mention any time Mo had tried in the past to stand up to She Li he’d lost brutally and there was no way with the structuring of the story that he was going to miraculously be capable of beating him now WITHOUT He Tian. Which actually I think was part of the overall point about him not having to fight alone anymore. And that btw, trusting and relying on He Tian to fight with him and for him is what ultimately cemented them and gave Mo the confidence to finally choose He Tian. So LIKE I guess my point is it had to happen that way! It had to work out so that the reason Mo was freed of She Li was BECAUSE He Tian was there and did something about it.

listen to me. that fic had been on hold since they announced SotE with a picture of the bastard on the front. I don’t know how I would be able to pull that plot off if he was wholly good or wholly evil or even wholly competent. I don’t care about literally any of the rest of the content the fact that miq is so very obviously stuck in Youngest Child Syndrome is literally just me winning
