Why do ppl call it "dead dove content" when "dead dove: do not eat" just means "Check the tags for warnings." In fact why does it exist at all? When did people stop looking at the tags to determine whether they want to read something or not? Why not just use "darkfic" and "hurt no comfort" and "whump" and "angst" alongside other specific warning tags that apply to the work? Since you're already doing it anyway? Why are we reminding people to check the tags all the time? If a reader fails to check an adequately tagged work, that's on them. It's like some kind of shift happened when I wasn't looking. I'm not like.. a fandom founder or anything what Happened when did it become an indicator meaning "this is not your mommy's fluff fic"

Even though I know that most of the science around breastfeeding and better outcomes in life is absolute crap*, I cannot help internally judging my SIL for "giving up" on breastfeeding after nine months. It's stupid, it's completely illogical, it's mean! But that is how I feel.

Maybe I'm judgey because I stuck it out for a whole year with both of my children even though I got mastitis constantly. It hurt like hell, like having a knife shoved into my chest with a bonus high fever, but I persisted. Why? It was clear I was prone to mastitis, why didn't I let myself off? It felt like a moral failing if I gave in. Am I really thinking that because I persevered through unnecessary pain that other people should too?

Not even I truly believe that the very best thing for a child is a happy and healthy mom. I should believe that. That is the objective, evidence-supported truth. Why can I not believe it? Why can I not be kind even to myself?

*too many confounding variables, ie. parents who breastfeed for longer also tend to be richer and can give their children other advantages. There is solid evidence that it's better for digestion and for premature babies, but the IQ test stuff is not well-supported. Also, having a happy and healthy mother (and father but usually mom is on leave) is the best thing by far for a baby.

Weird question but for the daily hashtags on tumblr is it Better to put or not put spaces in between the words eg: #ghost strike vs #ghoststrike

Cause I’ve seen so many variations on here and I know that tumblr is one of the only platforms I know of that you can use spaces in a hashtag and I’m not sure if this is affecting the possibility of us trending etc.

For our personal use, the Twitter mod doesn't use spaces, and the Tumblr mod does (probably out of a rather fussy, fastidious nature, says the Tumblr mod herself).

Specific phrases can trend as easily as actual hashtags, so I would say don't worry too much. Stick to no spaces on Twitter, obviously, where spaces can't be used, but on tumblr go crazy, use both, choose one, it doesn't matter overmuch in my estimation. "Lockwood", just the word, tends to trend on all platforms regardless of daily hashtags and spacing issues, so shrug-emoji.jpg would be our final say on the matter XD.
