6 to 7 PM
^ Dinner has just ended and with everyone full the dinning room clears out except for two people since there is a schedule you all agreed too on who will do the dishes and on what day. Monday - Usopp and Franky, Tuesday - Reader and Brook, Wednesday - Sanji and Chopper , Thursday - Franky and Robin , Friday - Luffy and Zoro, Saturday - Nami and Reader , Sunday - Sanji and Robin. You along with Robin and Franky volunteered to do extra days so Sanji doesn't have to do the rest of the days alone which the cook really appreciated.
^ Washing the dishes with Brook is quiet most of the time, the two of you wash and dry the dishes enjoying the now quiet kitchen and dinning room. Both of you know that once Brook leaves the kitchen your captain will ask for some music so the two of you decided to have a cup of tea and sit for a while before the noise starts again.
^ Having Tea with Brook starts out quiet but even if you both want a quiet drink one of you always gets a long conviction going, either about art or music but most recently you've been interested in the skeletons old crew so started asking about it. Brook was more than happy to share memories of his old crew and his adventures but over time this has caused your short tea break to go on for almost an hour which Luffy isn't always too happy about.
^ Walking into the kitchen Luffy hears you laughing while sitting at the counter with Brook along with two empty tea cups, it's been over an hour and both of you haven't left the kitchen yet. As much as the captain loves to see his crew get along he wants your attention and to get a night or music and fun started "Y/N" Luffy calls out wrapping his arms around you several times pulling your back into his chest as he lays his chin on your shoulder with a pout "Sorry Captain, i guess we got carried away again" You smile reaching up to place a hand on his cheek which he leans into but that pout stays strong on his face. Brook laughs and stands up grabbing the two empty cups on the counter "My apologies captain, I'll wash these and then get some music going. I'll meet you in the aquarium bar" The skeleton bows to you and Luffy before walking around the counter to wash the cups, being picked up the captain finally smiles and walks out of the kitchen with you "Luffy i can walk" You giggle trying to get out of his arms that are still wrapped around you, the captain stops at the bottom of the stairs seeing the deck clear since everyone is in the aquarium bar by now "Y/N... I like you getting along with the crew but" Luffy sighs as he starts to let you go, with his arms loose enough you turn in his arms and wrap your arms around his neck and into is hair "You can always join us you know?" His eyes finally meet yours as a smile appears on his face, he didn't want to intrude on your time with brook, but he missed how you would hold him after dinner. Leaning in you place a kiss on his lips before taking his hand "Come on captain" you state walking him into the bar.
^ When Zoro and Luffy wash dishes together its mainly the captain talking and making the swordsman laugh, its one of the few times the swordsman feels comfortable enough to relax and let his emotions show. He can laugh and joke with Luffy or you but only when in privet otherwise he tends to get a bit embarrassed or feels the need to be the serious one. Luffy loves this time with Zoro, washing dishes was always boring and sucked for the captain but ever since he got put with Zoro there was no complaining instead it was replaced with excitement.
^ After the dishes the captain would want cuddles but also want to listen to Brooks music and spend time with the crew in the aquarium bar. Zoro likes the alone time with his captain some times a little too much and tends to try and make it last by pinning the captain between him and the counter. Luffy usually just laughs and lets the swordsman give hugs and kisses enjoying the for once needy green haired man's touch and presence, sometime the captain deliberately acts like a brat just to see the look of Zoro's face. Something about the swordsman's unamused glare and strict tone makes him unbelievably handsome even more so when he leans over the captain, their chest touching and faces inches away.
^ When you and Nami do the dishes together she likes to gossip with you, its mainly about things she heard in the village you were all just at. You're not one for gossip but you can't stop the navigator not with she seems to be enjoying herself, plus she somehow finds out the most juicy details that you can't help but listen too. She sometimes asks about your relationship with Luffy and Zoro which your more than happy to talk about, Luffy's open with his feels for the two of you so you don't see the harm in sharing some things. There are things you won't talk about since it might upset Zoro who seems to be only ok with the crew knowing about your relationship and no one else, even so there are times when the swordsman won't show affection around the crew out of embarrassment.
7 to 9 PM
^ The aquarium bar is filled with light music thanks to brook and his Piano and quiet talking. Some nights are nosier than others or higher energy but most of the time its just the crew sitting together and enjoying some music, drinks and soft lighting. You like to watch the fish in the tank while Luffy either lays on your lap or leans into your side. Zoro likes to sit close with his arm around you or Luffy, but he also secretly enjoys it when the captain sits on his lap, sometimes the swordsman will gradually move Luffy over trying to be subtle about it but you and Luffy can always tell what's happening.
^ Usopp and Chopper like to join you three most of the time, either talking about the new fish they caught or the sniper telling stories. It's always a fun conversation when the two are around, laughing and joking with each other and some times Zoro joins in making a snarky comment that makes you laugh so hard your sides hurt. The look of pride on the swordsman's face always brings you and Luffy joy.
^ Nami likes to sit at the bar either talking with Sanji or just having a quiet drink, if the noise gets too loud for her liking she'll yell at who ever it is before going back to her drink. Robin likes to read while she drinks, the only source of light being the fish tank, but she's somehow able to read, Franky likes to sit next to her either with his arm around her or engaged in conversation with someone. Brook plays his music for a while taking requests or playing his own chose, you love listening to him play and some times sing which prompts the rest of the crew to join in.
^ You'd be lying if you said there was never a fight in the bar, 90% of the time its Zoro and Sanji while the other 10% Is someone pissing off Nami enough to get on her bad side. The fights all start out the same with Zoro and Sanji, them making snarky comments to each other until it reaches its boiling point, most of the time its built up over the day and now is when all hell breaks loose. You hate to see the two fight and often try to stop it as soon as you see the warning signs but it doesn't always work. The fights always end up worse if its over you or Luffy, the swordsman getting way over protective to the point of the whole crew having to step in before they kill each other.
^ Its strange though because after an hour or, so they both go back to normal like nothing happened, you wonder if they actually hate each other or not. Maybe it's some kind of Sibling rivalry thing but there not actually siblings, when their not fighting they work well together especially if its to help out Luffy with something.
9 to 10 PM
^ Not everyone gets a shower or bath every day but you, Nami, Robin and Sanji do while the others get a bath two to three times a week. You like to Bathe last and alone since you like to take a lot of time and care with the scars on your body some of which aren't form fights with others but fights with yourself.
^ Luffy is usually the one to drag Zoro into the bath with him, he wishes you would join then but you refuse. He guesses it's a good thing though since you spend a lot of time in the bath, and he's not the type to do that. The two like to relax together, leaning into each other enjoying the warm water until they start washing themselves, Zoro always does Luffy's back and hair not because the captain can't but because he knows Luffy enjoys Zoro's massaging fingers. Luffy helps out with Zoro's back too and tries his best to massage any knots out, he learned it from Robin since he hated seeing his first mate always rubbing his own shoulders in discomfort. If the others join them its more fun for the captain who tends to get a bit deflated when in the water while Zoro often helps Chopper wash his fur when ever he needs a bath since there are places he can't each.
^ You prefer to take a bath, being able to soak in the water after a long day and relax your muscles but it also gives you some privacy in a way. You don't like looking at the scars on your thighs and stomach since they remind you of what you used to do but you take care of them, using creams and message techniques to keep them form getting raised and sore. The whole crew know you have scars from fights but the ones on your stomach and thighs you never show since its clear they look different form the rest and you don't want them to act different around you. You have taken a bath with Chopper in the past and helped him wash his fur, he's the only one you've told about your scars too but luckily he's keeping it a secret and doesn't treat you any differently, in fact he's actually helped you keep them flexible and smoothed out.
^ Chopper is the first one to head to bed making sure he gets a full 10 hours of sleep since he knows how important it is. The rest of you head off to do your own thing, Franky and Usopp are normally off making something in their workshop while Brook tends to either clean his musical instruments or watch the stars. Nami and Robin read in the library/map room, some times being interrupted by Sanji who likes to check on then and ask if they need anything before going off to check for the 15th time that the lock on the pantry is still there.
^ Luffy likes to sit on the head of the sunny most night and watch the water and the night sky while you like to get a bit more work done, your only pulled away form it by Zoro who tends to pop up out of nowhere and wrap his arms around your waist while looking over your shoulder. You don't flinch or get shocked by it anymore, not only is it routine but you can tell when he's close since you've learned a bit of Haki, all the training with Zoro has paid off.
^ Pinching the bridge of your nose you sigh trying to get your work done, a feeling of annoyance welling up inside until that familiar tingle flows through your body indicating Zoro is close by. A smile forms on your face and your body relaxes before the swordsman even touches you, his presence alone manages to calm your worries, his arms wrap around your waist as his head sinks into your neck giving it long slow kisses. Humming in delight you hold his arms and press your back into him while leaning your head back onto his shoulder letting him do as he pleases "I'm glad your here" You whisper as Zoro trails kisses from your neck to your jawline before spinning you around to crash his lips onto yours. With both of you alone he can relax and do what he wants, so he lets his hands wonder a little while keeping his lips on yours, you hum in delight and run your hands over his chest and onto his shoulders before pushing slightly to let him know you need air. Pulling away you cup his face in your hands and rest your forehead against his the two of you enjoying the quiet moment alone, this moment always gives your running mind a break form the world so you can't help but thank him even though he tells you not too.
10 PM to 12 AM
^ Nami and Robin head to bed at about 10 but mainly stay up to read or talk in their room before going to sleep at 11. Sanji does a few more checks before going to bed himself usually going to see Luffy on the sunny's head to tell him not to even try getting into the pantry before going to bed shortly followed by Brook who often laughs at the cooks tired face as he scolds the captain.
^ Luffy goes to sleep when he wants too, there's no set time he goes to bed, he just waits until he gets tired enough and then heads off to find you, Zoro's always on night watch so won't be going to bed until much later but you'll just go to bed when ever Luffy dose unless there's something you really need to get done. Zoro likes to stay with you keeping an eye out on the open sea since he's technically on watch until Luffy comes to get you.
^ With Zoro's arms around your waist and his head on your shoulder you continue with your work unaware of anything going on around you besides what your doing and the swordsman's chest moving against your back as he breathes. "Y/n, Zoro" Luffy calls out once he sees you and walks over with a slightly tired look, you hum in response trying to finish off something before your captain pulls you away "Hay, heading off already?" Zoro asks removing his head form your shoulder to look at his captain who walks to stand next to the two of you with a small smile and a nod. The swordsman laughs a little moving his hand from your waist to place it on Luffy's cheek and run his thumb under his tired eye, the captain can't help but smile wider and take Zoro's hand leaning closer to place a kiss on his first mates lips. Finally, finished with what your doing you turn to your captain who's still locking lips with Zoro, you don't want to interrupt so you just stand there admiring the two with a loving look. The swordsman is the first to pull away to get his breath back as Luffy laughs a little at his first mates slightly red face "Nigh Zo" The captain leans up placing a kiss on Zoro's cheek before taking your hand and trying to pull you away. You giggle before turning to the swordsman and kissing his lips lightly "Good night hun, Don't stay up too late" You whisper against his lips before he crashes his onto yours his hand going through your hair before letting you pull away to be dragged off by Luffy.
^ Once in bed Luffy likes to cuddle up to you, with you on your back and his head on your chest, he falls asleep pretty quickly and almost immediately starts snoring. You watch him for a while admiring his features before going to sleep yourself. You're not a light sleeper but you will wake up if someone enters the room or if Luffy starts to steer in his sleep, its something your mind and body has trained to do over the years. You know if Luffy starts to steer it's because of a bad dream which your glad you wake up to help him calm down, most of the time he doesn't wake up as you stoke his hair and try to sooth him.
12 to 4 AM
^ One by one everyone goes to sleep, the only person being awake is Zoro who either sits on the deck of the sunny or sits in the crows nest keeping an eye out for any ships or trouble. When 4 AM rolls around someone comes to take over for him, it's usually Usopp, Franky or Brook, but he doesn't talk much with them instead feeling tired he heads to bed.
^ It doesn't matter how quiet he is, you will always wake up to the sound of the door opening, Luffy on the other had is dead to the world around him. After getting changed the swordsman lays on your other side knowing that if your not in the middle you'll get shoved out of bed by one or both of the boys.
^ Laying in bed and pulling the covers over him Zoro pulls your back into his chest feeling your hand rub his arm, you both don't say anything just give loving and comforting touches as you both try and get back to sleep, Luffy's arm will stretch out to wrap around the two of you pulling you both closer to him as the captain snores away.

this is the second part to @supermarine-silvally's ask, found here! they asked for quite a few questions for my One Piece ships, Kenji x Killer & Law x Mari x Kid, Keller's answers can be found here, while this post is all for Midlaw. so let us begin! tagging the other anime girlie @auxiliarydetective as well
1. How did they meet and what were their first impressions of each other?
Mari knew of Kid and Law long before the three crews landed on Sabaody, she's intrigued by Law's abilities, but thinks Kid is a senseless, bloodthirsty idiot. but it's KidLaw that met first on Sabaody, it's dislike at first sight <3 Kid thinks Law is a stuck-up "I'm better than you" kinda guy and is itching to beat him up in the new world, while Law thinks Kid is unnecessarily destructive and overall not someone he wants to associate with
KidLaw see Mari for the first time at the auction house, where she gets the collars and chains off the other prisoners with the keys Franky got; Kid thinks that his assumption that she's the weakest out of the Strawhats (for context, Mari consistently has the second-lowest bounty, second only to Chopper) was right, while Law is slightly unnerved by the fact that she seems to pop out of nowhere, but also thinks she's not that dangerous
2. What kind of dynamic do they have with each other?
black cat x orange cat x black cat, rival crews to tentative allies to unmarried divorced throuple to 'if I don't see my gf & bf/bfs in the next five seconds I will bring down this building', "we're going our separate ways." "... yeah?" "it's for the best that we don't meet again soon." "agreed."
3. What do others think of them?
the Heart pirates are the captains of the Lari ship the second Law introduces Mari to them, but after Wano Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin are thrown off because they get the feeling that their captain doesn't hate Captain Eustass like he claims; the Kid pirates board it after watching Kid trying to subtly show off in front of Mari & Law (neither of them is impressed, but neither of them would admit that it was a bit flustering to be scooped up with one arm so that's that); and the Strawhats (namely Brook, Franky, Chopper, and Robin after a bit) are on board as soon as they work it out, Nami got a bag of berry from Kenji from betting that Mari would fall for Law, but she and Kenji both lost money to Robin because she's the only one to bet that their crewmate would like both Law and Kid, Zoro could not care less who Mari likes as long as it's not harming the crew, but he's subjected to both Kenji and Sanji's lamenting so he drags Jimbei and Usopp in to argue that it's not their business, meanwhile Luffy has no idea about any of this and is just wondering why Mari's more mopey than usual
5. Is their joint future bright or bleak?
ideally yes, Idc if I have to trample canon I WILL give them a happy ending and there's nothing Oda can do to stop me
7. Do they have a desire to protect each other?
normally, no -- actually, Kid & Law did think Mari would need to have someone watching her back, but after seeing her on Wano, both of them know Mari would not appreciate them fighting for her. similarly, Mari isn't too fussed about their safety because she knows Law and Kid can handle themselves. but if one of them goes down, you can bet the other two are going to go full demon on whoever did that
10. Who would win in a fight?
okay this one deserves its own dissertation post, so I won't elaborate much here. it depends on where the fight is and if the three of them are at their fullest abilities or not, but it's probably ending in a tie or a surprise takedown after two of them are exhausted
12. Who is a better caregiver?
Mari. Law has no sleeping schedule and survives on onigiri with black coffee and probably has no idea how to show that he cares for people, Kid is a freak of nature and probably would've died long before he set sail if it wasn't for Killer and also has no idea how to show affection other than be less mean towards them. it's not a hard competition when one of them has oldest daughter syndrome and middle child syndrome at the same time
15. Who has better fashion sense?
it's a tie between Mari and Law. sorry Kid but I can't look past those pants 😭
20. What's the worst thing about them teaming up?
to be on the receiving end of their blows. think Kidlaw fighting Big Mom, then add in a phantom that always strikes to incapacitate (or kill, depending on the situation) at the worst possible times for the receiver, which just so happens to hit the weakest spots every single time. if Mari adds in her dust bombs and puts her devil fruit to active combat, then it's just overkill if they're not fighting someone Yonko level
21. What's the best thing about them teaming up?
to be on the same side as them, especially if you're not a good fighter, you can just sit back and watch Law dice up people and Kid disarming (sometimes literally) the other side, while Mari pops out of nowhere to string up some poor terrified guys then gives a quick report about what's ahead then vanishes again (this is ghostwritten by Kenji, Usopp, Nami, and Chopper)
36. What is a gift one would give to the other?
Kid makes metal flowers for both Mari and Law, as well as some other practical bits and bobs. Mari and Law I can't really see getting gifts (I hc Law prefers to give quality time and Mari acts of service) but Mari makes matching necklaces for the three of them when they tie the knot
39. What's an inside joke they'd have together?
how long will it take for Kenji to accept that his sister is hopelessly in love and has no intentions of leaving her boyfriends (he's actually happy and relieved that someone wants Mari, but he pretends to dislike them to keep them on their toes); what insane thing will Luffy do today and which one of them is the unlucky recipient of a rubber hug; Kid can't do housework at ALL
45. If one of them was in trouble, what would the others do?
hunt down the people responsible and show them exactly why people don't mess with what's theirs
48. If they swapped bodies, how would they handle it?
okay this will probably also require a long explanation and this is long enough as it is, so I'll answer this some other time with doodles to show the scene in my head ;)
give me a number + relationship and I'll tell you something about that relationship!

gender neutral! sfw, super fluff.

"Dance with me, cmon!" your boyfriend whined, grabbing your hands and pulling him closer to him. The rest of the crew cheered you up, clapping once Luffy finally trapped you in his embrace, pressing a quick on your lips. He let his hands wonder and caress your body, before letting them fall on your waist, holding you closer to him.
Brook's violin played the sweetest notes while Luffy guided your movements, making you twirl around and catching you in his arms once again. The rest of the crew joined the dance floor too, Usopp and Chopper clumsily dancing together and enjoying the cheerful evening.
"See? It's nice." he whispered in your ear. Nodding in response, you latched your arms around his neck, continuing to dance. You didn't love the idea of standing in front of a crowd - despite it being composed of your trusted crew mates - but you had to admit there was something magical about dancing on a ship while sailing the ocean with a sky full of stars just above you. The initial embarrassment was quickly replaced with an immediate sense of calmness. There was no place you'd rather be; this was were you belonged: wherever, but with Luffy. You would have followed this man everywhere he wanted to go, you would have touched the sun with your bare hands if he needed you to - granting him a dance was the least you could do.
Both of you kept silent for a while, holding each other tightly and letting the sweet notes lull you. Luffy wondered if that was the right time to ask you - he had been thinking about it for long enough now. But holding you in his arms while dancing under the moonlight tickled his fantasy even more, there were no doubts in his mind.
"Marry me." he finally said, his voice slightly shaking. It wasn't even a question - he couldn't consider a no as answer.
It was now or never - there was no way to predict what could have happened after challenging the Four Emperors; and he wanted to things right. Luffy wanted to have one more peaceful night with you; he wanted to create the most beautiful memory, one you would always hold on to in difficult times. He wanted to see you in a white gown, give you his last name, letting the whole world know you were his - the spouse of the most feared pirate of the worst generation.
"Seriously?" you asked, the widest smile forming of your lips. Luffy immediately nodded, biting his bottom lip waiting for answer. Pressing his forehead against yours, he stared at you with his usual doe-eyes. Tears were quick to cloud your vision, a tight knot forming in your throat as a sudden wave happiness overwhelmed your body. "Yes, yes, yes!" you shouted in excitement, jumping in his arms. Wrapping your legs around his torso, you pressed your forehead against his once again, now standing slightly taller than him. Cupping his cheek with one hand, you leaned towards him to finally meet his lips into a passionate, rather teary, kiss.

Can I get headcannons on the types of partners the straw hats would want to date? Thank you!
Chopper is baby so I'm not including him x
Otherwise YES let’s go!!!
Luffy
If you can’t make Luffy laugh, you’re not his type. Point Blank.
Needs someone with a HUGE sense of adventure, this is the future king of the pirates we are talking about.
I headcanon Luffy as aro/ace so he is big on platonic love and loyalty above anything else. You gotta be cool with platonic dating bc you’re probably not gonna get much else from him.
Gotta love his friends as much as he does.
Can you cook? YES: Definitely his type. More food the better.
Zoro
I think he would like someone based on their merit and morale more than looks or anything like that.
A drinking partner would be nice, or at least keep him company while he drinks.
Can’t handle a crybaby. He can’t deal with it because he’s too blunt. Not that he doesn’t care just that well. He’s not the best at comforting someone who’s crying.
He’s pretty versatile, I think he would work well both with someone who is more reserved or someone with a hot temper. He is adaptable in dating situations. Though don’t be upset if he walks away from a big fight because that’s way too much to deal with.
Nami
I headcanon Nami as a lesbian but like. Not above using men for money or a free meal. Gotta do what ya gotta do to survive.
I saw a tiktok of someone in a marina yelling “I’m looking for a sugar daddy with a BOAT” and I can’t stop thinking about Nami. It’s perfect. That’s what I mean
But seriously Nami is a big dreamer who needs someone to be the wind in her sails… no pun intended.
Someone FUN. A shopping buddy or someone who likes to dress up with her for fun. Brunch dates are a must.
Can’t deal with anyone clingy, I think she’s probably afraid of real commitment, but once she falls for you she would be ride or die for you.
Usopp
I think Usopp’s love language is gift giving. He’ll bring you little trinkets, flowers, even cool rocks if he thinks you would appreciate them. Anything that reminds him of his partner makes him happy.
He needs someone who could see through his bullshit and understand if something was really upsetting him. Someone empathetic enough to ignore the little white lies and knows that he wouldn’t ever lie to hurt them.
Literally if you are his personal cheerleader he would fall for you so fast. Boy needs a support network who believes in him.
He’s attracted to other creative people! Draw with him, cuddle up and make up stories together, sing stupid little song with him in the crows nest. He’d loved it.
He’s a sucker for someone with a beautiful smile and a cute laugh.
Sanji
LISTEN this boy is girl crazy but I also think he is in denial about being a bisexual.
I headcanon Sanji as bi and trans masc. (I won’t write him trans unless asked but like that’s my fav Sanji headcanon.)
This boy is chock full of the trauma™ and needs a really supportive partner because if you’re more than a one night stand, he’d probably end up in tears talking about his past with you. Someone empathetic and understanding is a must.
Can you cook? Yes: Cook with him! He would love to have a hand from the one he loved in the kitchen.
Really flirty when he’s single, but if he gets hit ON he gets flustered and fumbles over his words and probably nosebleed-y. Easy catch after that.
Even though he’s so flirty, if he was in a serious relationship all of that energy would be devoted to his partner. Though if you were open and comfortable he’d love a relationship where you would both be like “whoa check out that girl she’s fiiiiiiine.”
Robin
Either academic types or dumbasses. No inbetween.
“You’re stupid: I like that in a Man.”
I see her as bisexual or pansexual. She wouldn’t really care about anything physical, just who you are and how you treat people.
Someone to balance her would be nice.
Needs someone who would hype her up but also be there for her if she had bad flashbacks because of PTSD from her childhood trauma.
Someone with a sense of humor to compliment her own dark humor (or at least laugh at it) would be the key to her heart.
Loves a library or cafe date. Sit quietly, have a drink, and be together quietly in each other’s presence.
Franky
He’s the friend group’s token cis straight. But he fucking loves his crew and they are all supported by this huge beautiful ally.
Acts like a himbo but then does complex engineering science in the same sentence.
Needs someone intellectual or he’d get bored.
Prefers a smaller partner (not hard with his stature, tbh) Loves to give a piggyback ride or pick his partner up bridal style.
He looks for someone loyal. He needs the tight knit relationship in his life.
Someone who would match his energy would flow well, he has so much and either needs that energy matched or calmed.
Brook
Listen, this flirt is a flirt and he knows that he’s suave.
Definitely pansexual, though he can’t derive much pleasure out of sexual interactions himself, he would be up for pleasing a partner.
Loves someone who knows their music. Sing with him, write music with him, or play an instrument and have a jam session. That’s his all time favorite date.
Wants more than a groupie in his life, though he’s afraid of falling for someone and watching them die because he outlives them. (I’m sorry for this angst in the middle of all the fluff but it KILLs ME)
Must love animals (especially whales).
Loves an extrovert. He wants to go out and DO things, and wouldn’t work well with someone who wanted to be at home all the time.

Appreciation Post for the Future Pirate King and the Future Greatest Swordsman’s bond 🤝
Tumblr media
I believe the reason why I love Zoro and Luffy’s relationship so much is because it’s just so pure. From beginning till present, you still see how much they trust eo (and how it just gets stronger by the day), the show of respect for eo’s strength, and how Zoro always know where to get Luffy (If you’ve read the wano arc in the manga you would know what I mean), plus Luffy’s confidence in Zoro is delightful. I love that they don’t need to say much when they’re together and I love how Zoro just understands Luffy so much more than the others that he always seems to know what to say to him.
I see some people try to downplay this by saying, “the other strawhats would do the same thing”, and yes I would agree, but you really can’t deny the fact that most acts of sacrifice/respect for Luffy is highlighted in Zoro’s character more so than the others. I get that a lot of people in the community likes the idea of equality in terms of the strawhats’ bonds with eo, most of all with Luffy, and I do love that concept as well but then again, Zoro always gets that emphasis. Their are a lot of instances where we see Zoro defend Luffy, but in this case I would refer to that time in Thriller Bark. I honestly think that Oda making Sanji interfere/try to take Zoro’s place as sacrifice was a brilliant choice. I say this because it showed us the difference between Zoro’s sacrifice and Sanji’s. With Zoro, he says his value/worth is on par with Luffy’s, that his dream is almost as big as his captain’s. Zoro throws his swords, which was honestly such a great symbolism for him ultimately sacrificing his dreams which was far more important than his life. On the other hand, Sanji addresses his sacrifice almost casually, and I’m sorry for stating it this way (English is not my native language), but I felt like he just phrased his statement in a “cool way”, I’m not saying it wasn’t worth anything, but the biggest theme in one piece are dreams. In that particular moment, with him saying that he would be “most feared by the marines in the future” as an incentive or as an exchange for Luffy’s head , it just felt very ‘eh’ compared to Zoro offering his dreams you know? but I do like that he tells Zoro, “whatever happened to your dream idiot!”, because it really showed how Sanji cared for him despite them always fighting with eo, and essentially how he cares for everyone in the crew (looking back at this makes me really appreciate Sanji and his arc more than ever). However, you see the difference in approach, Sanji always tries to be chivalrous, and we know his actions does mean a lot. But to him, his life wasn’t worth much, his statement of one day being the man most feared by the marines was quite unusual and a little out of character, but then we have to consider the fact that he likes to one up Zoro, and I’ve always felt that it was his intention here. I also took notice of the fact that Sanji’s statement was more general, he offers his life for everyone, he didn’t separate Luffy from the others. Sanji is a self-sacrificing idiot and honestly we love that for him. On the contrary, with Zoro—his act felt more momentous and substantial. Maybe it’s ‘cause of how he phrased his words, but whenever I try to think about that moment, it just makes me think, “damn, for him to say that...”, ‘cause his character, in terms of notoriety is almost always comparable to Luffy. He is the guy the side characters would think of as the captain they always say, “How can a man like him work for somebody?”. I like to think that this was a way to show us that Zoro wouldn’t have done that so easily or go that far for somebody else. He can give his life away like it’s nothing, yes, but him doing that for Luffy meant more because this was him giving his all away. Not to mention, it’s not just his dream but Kuina’s as well, and we all know how significant Kuina was to him, but he also gave that away. And in comparison to how he states his sacrifice, he really placed a lot of weight in mentioning Luffy. He even the mentions the crew almost as an afterthought, and even then he goes straight back to talking about Luffy again, “there is already no other way to save the crew!...If I can’t even protect my captain’s dream, then whatever ambition I have is nothing but talk!”. There’s also the fact that Sanji wasn’t really asking Kuma to do it, he just tells him to get it over with while standing and trying to act poised, even when his legs were shaking (Sanji best boi 🤧). Zoro, however, begged. He fucking begged and kneeled, and bowed his head, he completely submitted to Kuma in that moment, just so he can get the message across that ‘you can’t take him, take me instead’, this was such a fucking moment because ‘pride be damned, Luffy’s life is worth more than that’. This was without a doubt a moment for both Sanji and Zoro, like Brook then mentions in the next chapter, Sanji had the same resolution as Zoro, but I would say that Zoro’s execution of the whole thing really made the moment more profound and meaningful for me (for me okay), it just felt and meant more to me when I read and see the panel, I could bloody cry. Honestly, I still have a lot to say about this but I think I can stop there (~o ̄3 ̄)~
Why did I elaborate on this particular moment? The answer would be because to me, this was where I really saw how the bond between the two ran so deep. It took me aback and made me emotional in more ways than one. It’s like wbk but not really??? From “I’ll cut you if you get in my way” to “take my life in exchange for his”
ᶻᵒʳᵒ ᵃˡʷᵃʸˢ ᶜᵒⁿᵗʳᵃᵈᶦᶜᵗˢ ʰᶦᵐˢᵉˡᶠ ʷʰᵉⁿ ᶦᵗ ᶜᵒᵐᵉˢ ᵗᵒ ᴸᵘᶠᶠʸ ᴵ ʷᵃⁿᵗ ᵗᵒ ʰᵘᵍ ʰᶦᵐ
Honestly, at this point whatever they have is canon. They are each other’s partner and no one can tell me otherwise. Zoro is the Rayleigh to Luffy’s Roger, period.

Hats (Heartstealers Can Get Jealous, Too)
At first, no one could figure out what was going on.
Oh, the crew was perfectly familiar with Nami wearing Luffy’s treasured hat; their captain occasionally entrusted her with it on windy days when he wanted to swing around the mast, or during particularly intense battles where the delicate straw might get damaged. Sometimes, even when there was no danger in sight, it could still be found atop her mikan locks as a silent show of how much he valued her. So, when he plopped it on her head one night during a party with the Heart Pirates, no one batted an eye.
No, what raised eyebrows was Law’s response.
It was that same night. She coaxed him and a few others to join her in a game of strip poker. Nami was damn good at the game, but Law was holding his own while Jean-Bart and Brook were already down to their skivvies. Still, she’d managed to get a winning hand against the Heart Captain, and he rewarded her by replacing Luffy’s hat with his own.
“Shishishi! Looks good on you, Nami!” Luffy said from his perch atop the bar. He was pleased to see his new friend and his nakama getting along so well after their rocky start. She spent a lot of time with the Heart crew as of late, especially Law. He’d been worried for a while, what with the tension that had been between them, but it was now clear that the surgeon had developed some affection for the navigator, and in turn had earned her much-coveted trust.
Law’s eyes lit up with mischief as he smirked at his fellow Supernova, tossing over the wide-brimmed hat. It had been driving him crazy all night, seeing his good-natured rival’s trademark atop his woman. At this point, it was an open secret that the Cat Thief and the Surgeon of Death were sleeping together, even if they weren’t public about it. The flirty banter at times like these was proof enough to the more astute members of the two crews. “That it does. Much better in mine than yours, eh?”
“Maybe you should join the Heart Pirates, Nami!” Shachi joked, clearly a tipsy from drinking with Zoro. “I’m sure Law would trade Bepo for you!”
“Hey!” the bear said anxiously, glancing between the two captains.
“Why trade when I could have both?” the dark doctor chuckled, giving his navigator a reassuring smile.
“Don’t you think I should have a say in this?” Nami groused, rolling her eyes.
Leaning forward, he gave a devilish flash of teeth. “I think you’d look damn good in my crew’s uniform.”
Before she could argue that those boiler suits weren’t cute at all, Luffy, who had remained uncharacteristically quiet throughout the exchange, piped in with a wide grin, “Nami would look terrible in your uniforms, Tora-o! And sure, she doesn’t look bad in your cap, but the navigator to the future Pirate King looks best while wearing a straw hat.” Long arms stretched out to embrace the woman, pulling her over to him, the rubber man chuckling as she protested being yanked around without warning.
The scowl the surgeon gave at his rival’s declaration did not go unnoticed by the rest of the room. “We’ll see about that,” he rasped.
After that, anytime the two crews ran into each other, Nami found herself in the middle of a figurative tug-of-war between captains. The second the yellow submarine surfaced beside the Thousand Sunny, Luffy’s straw hat would be on her head. It never failed to make the Surgeon of Death scowl, and within an hour, the mikan-haired navigator would be sporting Law’s fuzzy white cap. If she spent the night with her lover, he wouldn’t let her leave the submarine unless she was wearing his trademark accessory in full view of her crew. Typically, though, Luffy would just laugh it off and switch it with his once she was back on her ship, giving Law a shit-eating grin.
It wasn’t long before the cartographer finally had enough.
“You two are so immature!” she snapped as Law snatched the wide-brimmed hat off her head, unceremoniously plopping his atop her orange locks. Earlier, Luffy had practically lassoed her with his elastic arm, twisting it around her until she had no choice but to let him adorn her with his straw treasure. Since then she’d been hiding in her mikan grove, hoping to avoid being part of this ridiculous display of one-upmanship while tending to her trees, but clearly, neither captain planned on letting her off the hook. “Really, this is the dumbest dick-measuring contest I’ve ever seen, and I live with Zoro and Sanji-kun!”
Her ally/not-boyfriend crossed his arms. “It is not. Maybe I just like seeing you in my hat.”
She rolled her eyes. “Or maybe you just don’t like seeing me in Luffy’s.”
“It’s possible, but unlikely.”
“Just admit you’re jealous.”
“I’ll do no such thing because I’m not.”
Cocking her hip, she gave him a sultry grin. “Then you wouldn’t mind if I wore a straw hat it all the time. Like, maybe to bed?”
His low, threatening growl was all the answer she needed, and she turned back to picking her precious mikans. “It’s a hat, Tora-o-kun! Luffy’s always let me wear it because he knows I’ll keep it safe.”
“Or he’s staking some sort of claim.”
“Not everyone’s a possessive freak like you. More likely, this is just a game to him. A stupid, ridiculous game that you’re both stubbornly refusing to lose.”
Far from appreciative of her insults, Law leaned against one of the trees. “Well, if you’re so annoyed by it, why haven’t you told him to stop?”
“Oh, believe me, I will—violently—but I figured you’d be the more reasonable one. Guess I was wrong.”
She heard him sigh as he approached, wrapping muscular, tattooed arms around her waist and resting his chin atop the fuzzy hat. “I think Mugiwara-ya has feelings for you,” he grudgingly admitted.
Nami actually laughed. “The only thing he feels for me is friendship. He’s a reckless dunce, but loyal and affectionate to the people he considers nakama.”
Ordinarily, he’d agree, but the conversation he’d had with the Straw Hat captain many months ago haunted him. “He’s protective of you.”
“You’re just as protective of your crew. After Zoro, I’ve known Luffy the longest; if either of us had been interested, don’t you think one of us would have made a move by now?”
“I still don’t like it.”
If this were coming from Sanji-kun or anyone else on her crew, Nami would have smacked him upside the head. But Law was different; he was stubborn and more childish than he’d ever admit, but she also knew it was difficult for him to admit he was feeling even slightly insecure. Instead, she craned her neck to kiss the underside of his jaw. “Well, I’m sure he didn’t like you talking about me joining your crew. You did threaten to kidnap me before, remember?”
Humming in consideration, his fingers absently stroked her sides. She had a point; after their first confrontation, Luffy had loaned her his hat as a silent promise that she was safe with him. Even if it was obvious that Law and Nami were involved, that didn’t mean her captain was wrong to be wary. Heck, maybe he was trying to show the navigator was under his protection, so Law had best not use her or break her heart. It was a fair concern; neither were particularly open with their feelings and hadn’t put a label on their relationship. Labels were tricky; the second you named something, it means you’re attached, which made it more painful when it was ripped away. Casual sex was easy, with no attachments or expectations.
However, the past few weeks had shown Law that he was in far deeper than he’d realized, otherwise something as simple as a hat wouldn’t bother him. “You know, we never really talked about us being exclusive,” he murmured, brushing his lips against the blue swirl on her shoulder.
“No, I guess we haven’t.”
“I haven’t been interested in sleeping with anyone but you.”
“Me neither.”
Unbidden, a tiny sigh of relief escaped his lips. “Then, I suppose this would be considered something of a monogamous relationship, right?”
Nami’s shoulders shook slightly with gentle laughter. “Are you just asking because you’re scared I’ll leave you for Luffy?” she teased.
“I’m asking because I figure we should establish what we are before I make any further assumptions.” He wasn’t quite ready to put a label on what they were, but this was a small step in the right direction. Pirates were naturally selfish, greedy, and possessive; of course he’d want such a gorgeous jewel to himself. If he couldn’t steal her away, the least he could do was ensure no one else would, either. Besides, it was smart to take things slow; Nami valued her freedom and likely wouldn’t want to be truly tied down just yet.
Twisting in his hold, the beautiful cartographer draped her arms around his shoulders, teasing the short hairs at the base of his neck. “We’re exclusive, but I reserve the right to flirt for the sake of stealing wallets.”
Tattooed hands played with the strings of her bikini top. “Fair. I reserve the right to pin you to a wall afterwards and remind you why you’re my woman.”
Shivering in delight at the heat in his voice, she nodded, nimble fingers deftly unbuttoning his shirt. “I suppose I can live with that. You can be pretty sexy when you’re jealous.” She wrinkled her nose in thought. “Well, not always. Lately it’s been a turn-off.”
He rolled his eyes. “Fine. I’ll stop replacing Mugiwara-ya’s hat with mine. You’re right—he probably just thinks I’ve been playing some stupid game.” Reaching down, his strong hands squeezed her bottom as he nipped her ear. “In the end, I’m the real winner, because I’m the one that gets to see you naked.”
Pink dusted her cheeks, both in arousal and slight embarrassment. “Well, there was that one time in the baths in Alabasta…” She snorted at his glare. “What? I charged him and all the other guys 100,000 belli each for peeking. You’ve been getting it for free!”
Groaning in irritation, Law summoned his room, teleporting them both into his sub so he could make good on his promise to remind the orange-haired vixen why she was his woman.
XXX
Two hours later, the pair returned to the ship, Law’s hat perched on his own head while the woman beside him now sported an oversized black and yellow hoodie, the Heart Pirates’ jolly roger grinning merrily across the front. The sleeves fell over her knuckles and the bottom hit just past mid-thigh; it was really more like a dress than a top on her, though it still hugged her chest enticingly.
Beaming at the sight of them, Luffy waved eagerly, straw hat back in its rightful place. “There you are! Where’s you two disappear to?” Head cocked to the side, he studied his navigator, the tiniest of frowns tugging the corners of his lips. “You weren’t wearing that earlier.”
The surgeon smirked down at his lover who was rolling her eyes in exasperation. “Oh, her top got a little ripped, so I loaned her my hoodie. Is that a problem, Mugiwara-ya?” he asked, eyebrow raised in challenge. “After all, I’d hate to return my woman to you naked.”
Silent, Luffy stared at them for a moment before breaking out in a huge, goofy grin. “Nope! It sure was nice of you to do that, Tora-o! See, I knew you were a good guy.”
“Yes, he’s an absolute saint,” the cartographer said dryly. “I’m going to go change. If Sanji-kun sees me, he’ll be too busy crying or trying to kick your ass to make dinner.” Aggressively, she poked her lover’s chest. “And don’t think loaning me this doesn’t mean you don’t owe me a new top! Next island we land on, you’re taking me shopping.”
“But you look so cute in my clothes,” Law chuckled, gold eyes hooded and inviting. She really did look damn good; if he ever did kidnap her, she definitely wouldn’t be wearing his crew’s boiler suits.
“I don’t care! It’s way too hot for long sleeves.”
“If you want, you can borrow my shirt, Nami,” her captain offered, already starting to shrug off his perpetually unbuttoned red vest. There was no way he was going to let something as stupid as Law’s hoodie keep Sanji from making dinner!
Scowling, Law fought the urge to throttle his ally. At this rate, he was going to either have to parade Nami around in a shirt with “Property of Trafalgar D. Water Law” printed in big, bold letters, or tattoo his jolly roger onto the woman.
Luckily, she wrinkled her nose at the offer. “Ew, after you’ve been sweating in it all day? No thanks! Actually, when was the last time that thing was washed? I’m pretty sure that food stain’s at least a week old.”
The rubber man pouted. “I wouldn’t get stains on it if you let me eat shirtless.”
“You also wouldn’t get stains if you didn’t eat like a barbarian!”
“Ace ate shirtless all the time!”
“Your brother did everything shirtless!”
As his rival and the navigator argued, Law leaned against the ship’s railing, settling in to enjoy the show. Maybe he should cut Luffy some slack. Nami didn’t give her loyalty lightly; Straw Hat was her captain, hard-won through determination and blood. Law would never be able to compete with that. But despite that bond and history, Nami chose the dark doctor as a bedmate and was satisfied enough to consent to being his woman. Perhaps that knowledge was why, when Luffy grabbed her in a bear hug, plopping his hat onto her head with a joyous laugh, Law didn’t feel the rage he had before.
Or maybe he was just more forgiving because she was still wearing his shirt.
X
Just an FYI, this chapter is going to relate to a Luffy and Nami friendship fic (that’ll still have LawNa goodness, so don’t worry) I plan on publishing, so keep an eye out for that! Please leave me a review here or on AO3 so I know the LawNa ship still has a crew!

We know what Anita's relationship is with Sanji, or how she feels towards him at least. What's her relationship with the rest of the crew or how does she feel about them?
🐻; anonymous
Sorry in advance if this gets a little long, but there are quite a few Straw Hats. I’m including Jinbe and Carrot into this as well, whether or not Carrot actually becomes a Straw Hat too. Meaning these will all be her feelings as of the current arc even though I haven’t quite gotten to the rest of those rambling posts yet.
LUFFY ;
She, like most of the crew, respects and adores her captain.
When they landed on her island and most of them were captures, I can guarantee you that Luffy shrugged it off at first in his usual ‘they’re stronger than they look, so they’ll be fine’ way. But when she sees the anger in his eyes knowing they might not be okay, she quickly comes to admire how protective of his friends he really is. The fact that he got them back and relented when Anita argued with him about who got to take down the Vice Admiral gave her more respect. I realize Luffy might not like that she begged at his feet for her to join, but it was only because she wanted to get stronger with them and save her friends and family that she did.
Anita is a big goof, so Luffy is one of the ones that she gets along with the best, along with Chopper and Usopp. Especially when I consider all the silly headcanons @xstrawhat and I have come up with. They argue over food and who the real alpha bear is, but I feel like Anita is totally and completely loyal to him. He’s her captain, and no one else can take that position. She owes him everything for giving her the chance to be better than she is.
They’re basically brother and sister.
ZORO ;
Zoro is her favorite drinking and work-out buddy. He’s the one that shows her tough love when she needs it. You know the kind; she’ll be moping about something or feeling sorry for herself like she does on occasion, and he’ll sass her out of her. Tell her to pick her sorry ass up and do something about it rather than being a baby. At least he does when he knows it’s appropriate. There are some moments when he knows it isn’t going to help because he isn’t totally heartless. He does care for his crew, and that includes her. So when she’s having those really bad days and being verbally slapped doesn’t work, he’ll sit there with her and share a drink.
He’s also the one that helps her bulk up the most. The strength she gains in her human form does translate to her bear form, so he’s the one she goes to when she wants an intense workout and wants to get beefy like him.
Okay, maybe not exactly like him ‘caus the boy is ripped, but she’s pretty muscular.
Zoro is also a good nap partner, especially when she’s in her bear form. The two nap together often.
NAMI ;
Anita was intimidated by her at first, honestly. She was sexy, smart and damn good with that Clima-tact— still is! But she’s gotten over that and come to highly respect Nami’s intuition and ability to sense the weather. As a bear, she can sense some things and she does have a good sense of direction on her own, but Nami’s skills are far beyond that and totally worth admiring.
Plus, she’s the reason why Anita’s wardrobe is so different in her Straw Hat verse. I know that doesn’t seem like a significant thing, but it is. In her Main Verse, she’s all dark and earthy colors and baggy clothes. Nami likely wouldn’t allow that and help her find things that still fit her style but aren’t so dirty looking. Grunge is still her style more than anything else, but a little blue and white and other nicer colors start to slip in. Anita starts to feel a little more confident in her looks because another pretty woman is showing and telling her that she’s actually kind of pretty and not a dirtball.
She’s also nice to snuggle. Can’t tell me for one second the girls don’t just get into a sleepy cuddle puddle sometimes and end up drooling on each other.
USOPP ;
Because Usopp is the most chill in her opinion, Usopp is probably the closest thing she has to a best friend. She loves the rest of the crew with all of her heart, she really does, but there’s just something about Usopp that makes her want to go to him first if she has a problem.  .  . especially if that problem happens to be Sanji.
He can be quiet and understanding one minute, then playful and goofy the next. He has such a vast personality that she feels like she can count on him for just about anything. And she kind of hopes she’s been giving him the impression that he can count on her because she’s not so selfish that she doesn’t want to be there for her friends. Especially since the two of them likely have the lowest self-esteem on the ship, next to their cook ( but that’s just my personal headcanon since I write him too. )
I’ve said this a billion times too, but SHE LOVES TO LISTEN TO HIS STORIES! Doesn’t matter if it’s a new or old one, she still sit from start to finish and ask for another one every single time. Doesn’t matter if they’re made up, either. Each story is different in its own way and she adores that he’s so creative. It’s the same with his art too. She isn’t the least bit artistic, so she can easily praise everything he does because he has a talent she doesn’t and loves it.
SANJI ;
…..MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
CHOPPER ;
Chopper is the baby of the family, so Anita is very quick to defend and protect him. When she knows there isn’t any way for her to distract or tank the way she’s meant to, her job is then to protect Nami, Chopper and Usopp. She doesn’t think they’re weak in any way because even at the circus on her home island, the smallest part ( whether it be in an act or something technical ) was important, but she knows that they aren’t as strong as the Monster Trio.
But she’s one of the one that frustrates Chopper the most when it comes to people sitting still during recovery. Sitting still makes her antsy, so she ends up getting up anyway. She won’t work out or remove her bandages like Zoro does, but she does walk around or attempt to sneak food from the kitchen.
I can see them training together, though, animal versus animal. Nothing that will get either of them too hurt, of course. But there’s something drastically different about how two animals fight that helps them with their different zoan forms.
Also threatens to eat him from time to time because she’s a shit. Sorry, Chopper.
ROBIN ;
I feel like Robin would be the one Anita interacts with the least because even after all this time, she’s still intimidating. Robin just exudes this alpha female aura in Anita’s opinion, and she’s way too smart. Because she is a ‘all brawn and no brain’ cliche, Anita feels like she can’t talk to their archaeologist casually without it turning into a lecture or a history lessons that she won’t remember. That, and she can’t read. She’ll have tried to avoid them knowing as long as she possibly could, but it’ll be obvious once she’s been around them for a while.
She didn’t feel much when Robin said she was going to leave, but she does relate to her a little knowing Marines destroyed her home. Parts of her want to get closer to Robin because she is amazing and powerful, but Anita assumes too dumb for that.
I would kill for some Robin and Anita interactions because I want to see if any of this would change with interaction. ‘Cause I’m not the least bit good at understanding Robin ;;
FRANKY ;
RO-BRO!!
Okay, listen. She is 100% into the super pose and does it every given chance, and it brings Franky to tears. She sees him as the dad of the crew and has more love for fatherly figures than she does motherly because hers was awful. Might be another reason why she’s not sure about Robin.  .  . Huh.
Anyway! She appreciates all of his hard work and is is genuinely impressed and amazed at the things he creates. I realize there’s the running gag that females aren’t impressed with his creations and have that flat look on their face, but?? Honestly, she would get sparkling eyes and wheeze over it. Might not freak out the same way they do, but she adores his creativity and talent in working with machines and building Sunny.
Sometimes, if she’s bored and has literally nothing else to do, she’ll ask if she can watch him work for a bit. The sounds his work are sort of comforting. Reminds her if Gus and his tinkering back home.
BROOK ;
Brook is her source of jokes, bad puns and nostalgia. Because he can play several instruments and is skilled at different kinds of music, I feel like he would know how to play songs that have a carnival or circus tone to them. Her home-sickness can get pretty bad sometimes, as well as her doubt over whether or not she’ll be able to beat the Marine that took over. Brook will be there with a song and soft, calming words and she’ll be fairly alright.
She wasn’t sure how to feel about him at first, but she’s watched him go from a creepy, talking skeleton from an afro to a still creepy, talking skeleton with an afro that can use a swords pretty damn well and do cool things with his soul.
Probably the biggest fan of Soul King’s music on the crew. None of them really seemed to notice he had a whole career during the two years ;; I mean, they noticed, but do none of them like the music he made during that time? Or is it just an ‘off-screen’ thing. Anita will listen to his music religiously because it’s right up her alley.
JINBE ;
Doesn’t know much about him aside from what she’s told and having met him at Fishman Island. She has no bias against Fishman so she doesn’t dislike him, but she’ll have to get used to how serious he is. Will make every attempt to make him crack a smile and likely fail every time. She’ll be a little surprised when she finds out he’s their helmsman because she thought he already had a crew. Slightest bit conflicted about him leaving his crew to join them, but doesn’t ask questions because Luffy agrees with it.
CARROT ;
Anita’s not a Mink, but I feel like her and Carrot would get along so well. Ahha, actually.  .  . Now that I’m thinking about it, she’ll probably dislike her a little at first because she hardly knew Sanji and snuck in to save him anyway and did more than she could, while she was being upset and petty over him leaving. Yeah, there might be a little tension there until Anita realizes that they lost someone during that whole mess.
Carrot is cute, and seeing her even slightly upset when they mention Pedro died will kill her inside. They can kind of share the ‘I lost my mentor / a man I admired a lot’ feelings. Plus, I can see them hard-core training together and going all out.
OVERALL ;
She loves them. They’re her nakama. She would do damn near anything for them. She’s as greedy as Luffy, determined to be strong like Zoro, appreciates food like Sanji, likes to have fun like Usopp, Chopper and Franky, can be calm and collected like Robin and Brook. I didn’t really think she’d have a place with them until Rachel said Luffy would want her aboard, so I really owe this verse to her and a few other people that encouraged me.
Thanks for asking!! And sorry it’s so long ahhhaa

Time to compare Big 3 and FT!Part 1
Now that FT has ended, I can do a full(er) evaluation of this. Yay.
As you know, the big 3 are One Piece, Bleach and Naruto.
FT is like..a rank or two below them in terms of popularity and sales except Bleach. Anyway, it’s still up there so time to compare and contrast. Characters, fights, story are all being judged. This post is all about characters.
Obvious spoilers for all series mentioned above. Because One Piece isn’t even close to being done yet, I’m only evaluating up until Dressrosa arc.
Character Basics Designwise:
I’d say that FT falls behind in this department, but isn’t last. In terms of design, One Piece wins by leaps and bounds in term of design diversity. Oda has made literally hundreds of characters and has interesting designs and personalities for each of them. He gives a lot of them good backstories and relationships with other characters.
Bleach has some interesting characters as well. Most of them have interesting abilities and cool designs, but not to the degree of the sheer outlandishness of Oda’s designs. The hollows look very good, though.
The designs in Naruto are kind of plain even for the villains. It’s understandable for the less fantastical setting I suppose, but it really feels like the designs could be spiced up a little at times. However, most characters have some kind of depth to them and decent backstories.
Fairy Tail has decent designs, kind of like Bleach in terms of creativity/complexity. It’s kind of odd at times because you’ll have human people wearing normal things then there’s just that one guy with the bizarre design. With such a fantastical setting, you’d think you’d see a lot more wild designs but nah. Unfortunately, FT has a bad streak of following basic tropes when it comes to villians. Later in the series, it’s the Psycho Lesbian(?), the battle enthusiast(s), that one cool intelligent guy and/or an Ice Guy/muscle dude. Earlier on, there was more variety in types. Backstories are alright.
Main Characters:
Seeing as how they’re all following the Jump formula, let’s just get it out of the way.
Orihime/Lucy/Nami/Sakura: Main-ish girl character who can technically fight but almost never does (if she does, she rarely wins).
Robin/Rukia?/Erza: Typically more mature mentor-like character who engages in some of the main group’s hyjinx anyway.
Uryuu/Zoro/Gray/Sasuke: Somewhat angsty/edgy main character’s best friend/rival (Zoro is the only exception to the angst/edge and rival). Typically smarter than the main character and more cool headed except when they’re not.
Happy/Kon/Chopper: Cute animal sidekick for plushies.
Natsu/Luffy/Ichigo/Naruto: The main character who is basically a child in a teenager’s body with an insatiable hunger, no intelligence except in battle and little to no sex drive despite all of the beautiful (mostly half naked) women constantly around them. So basically Goku clones. Ichigo and Naruto thankfully dodged this or, in Naruto’s case, grew out of it.
In terms of development of the main characters, I’d say Naruto absolutely wins this. Naruto and Sakura grew into great young adults and developed pleasantly along the way. Naruto stopped being so reckless and kind of a mess. We got some great looks into his psych with the whole Kuruma issue and dead parents thing.
Sakura eventually stopped being such a damsel and got the powers that she really needed. Although, I really did appreciate when she cut her hair and tries to protect her friends even though she was really weak. Listen, I don’t give a damn what you say, Sakura accomplished great things in Shippuden and does not deserve even half of the hate she gets from the fandom. Now I’m fully wiling to acknowledge that her persistent love for Sasuke got pretty ridiculous. But the same could be said for Naruto’s persistence, so I think that’s on the writer. I don’t think that it’s too much of a problem, though.
Sasuke..is an odd case. I don’t think he really developed that much in Shippuden until near the end-ish. It was more like he had a breakdown in slow motion? Idk, the whole thing was really strange. Him being stoic or batshit crazy for most of it made it hard to tell. If anyone has some solid evidence of development I’ll take it, but his case is just really strange.
Bleach is also an odd case. I’m certain that the main cast changed, I’m just not sure how. It was quite subtle. I suppose Orihime got a bit more confident in her abilities and Ichigo, Uryuu and Chad got stronger. Again, I’m open to some enlightenment on this.
One of the most glaring problems is how the human characters tend to get sidelined quite a bit. Orihime is especially bad about this because of how she’s written. Her powers are the most game breaking ones in story-she’s basically a God and she does almost nothing when it comes to battles. At best, she’s defense and a medic. Her main ability is essentially to “reject” parts of reality i.e rather than healing someone’s arm, she just “rejects” that it got injured in the first place. There’s no known limit to her abilities except that if she doesn’t believe that can do it,then she can’t. It’s the worst restriction possible because she doesn’t have cripplingly low self esteem or anything. That kind of restriction is just begging for her to be hated.
Chad just kind of faded into the background as time went on. It’d be really easy to forget who he is if you hadn’t read Bleach in a while.
In One Piece, I feel like the crew was pretty static outside of their individual character arcs except maybe Chopper. I’m very, very glad that Chopper is presented as more of a part of the group than a cute mascot. All of them got stronger after the timeskip and Sanji got a new gag. And I’m certain that Usopp got more competent and manly?/confident, too. Luffy definitely matured at least a little because of a certain incident with Ace. As sad as it was, it was kind of neat to see Luffy at his lowest point.
But, because grouping (The Coward Trio, the Power Trio, etc.) Nami especially got shafted after the arc right after the timeskip. It’s like...she showed off her abilities then and it was cool, then she got moved to the backseat by just about everyone else on the crew and barely seems to use them anymore. Anyway, all of the crew have good backstories despite like half of them making me cry like a bitch. Brook’s backstory is both depressing and horrifying.
I wish that the groups would be mixed up more often, though.
Fairy Tail has the absolute minimum amount of character development for the main characters. Out of all of them, Wendy is the most developed. She grew more confident and powerful over time. Lucy has stayed just about the same over the entire series. Well, I guess she got less vain and more confident, I suppose. With Erza, it was a combo of character depths and development that got her to show her goofy self after the Tower of Heaven. After that, her characterization just got strange because of the romance subplot with Jellal. She just grew more and more into being just a love interest around him rather than being a character who happens to be in love.
Gray did develop a bit, although its kind of hard to tell most of the time. By the time Tartaros hits, he’s learned his lesson about trying to whip out Iced Shell when things get tough. At least, that’s what I thought he learned until he decided that it’s better to kill yourself and erase your existence while trying to be a hero rather than just getting strong enough to have to drop to that point and wanting to live the very next big arc.
Natsu has not changed at all. He is the exact same guy he was at chapter 545 and at chapter 1. Despite his dad dying, his very existence being a lie AND his family history being shoved in his face, he has not changed at all.
Happy, for the most part, is a cute mascot character. He had his character depth/development in Edolas arc, but it vanished right after. He is occasionally shown to be Natsu’s support, but that’s about it.
It’s a real problem when almost all of your main characters have barely changed outside of their respective character arcs. What’s equally irritating is that their character designs have not changed except for Lucy’s and Wendy’s. After two timeskips! Natsu, Gray and Erza all look exactly the same as when they started. Outfits don’t count with this series because the characters frequently change their attire anyway except Erza. Erza has had the same outfit for 500 chapters except the GMG.
I think that’s it for this post. It’s gotten quite long. Next time I’ll do side characters and villains.

To Be Happy
10 Days of Lawlu Day 3: R is for… Relationship
Summary: Usopp gets curious about Law and Luffy's relationship status. Law is not amused.
[read on AO3]
Usopp had emerged from his workshop a good five minutes earlier, and had sprawled out on the deck of the Sunny sweaty and dirty, obviously satisfied with the day’s work. Law was sitting on one of the chairs that Robin usually used and had been napping until fifteen minutes ago, but was now contemplating to get a book. They were having some downtime, and he had some reading to catch up with.
Before he could decide, Usopp spoke up. “Hey, uh… Sorry if this is weird, but what are you guys… you and Luffy, to each other, I mean?”
Law frowned at him. “What?”
Usopp winced and scooted away from him a little, looking to where Luffy was fishing with Brook. “Your relationship… How do you define that?”
“We don’t,” Law said sharply. They didn’t have to. And he didn’t appreciate the prying questions into his relationship status.
“Yeah, okay, but it’s obvious you’re more than allies or friends, you know?”
“Why? Would being friends not be enough?”
“I’m not saying that,” Usopp said and Law wondered while he was still talking to him, when he looked so obviously anxious. “I’m just wondering… Don’t you love him?”
“I do.” Law shrugged and now he followed Usopp’s look to Luffy, who was laughing about Brook losing his fishing rod.
“Then why aren’t you like… a couple?” Usopp asked.
Law grinned a little. “Who says that we aren’t?”
Usopp groaned. “Now you’re just doing it on purpose.”
“I definitely am,” Law said, and finally decided to indulge Usopp. “We just don’t really… feel the need to define what we are. Why should we “date”, when that’s such a weird standard to abide to out here anyway? He knows I love him, and I know he’s with me, and that’s really all we need.”
“Okay, yeah, I get that,” Usopp said. Law was glad he was finally getting through to him.
“See, if you asked him if we were dating he would just say ‘sure’ and move on, but we’re not actually, in the traditional sense of the word. Could you imagine him on a date?” Usopp shook his head and Law made a sweeping gesture. “There you go. He’s not… the romantic type, and neither am I. But we do have each other.”
Luffy appeared next to them suddenly and Law flinched. How Luffy managed to approach quietly was still a mystery to him. Usopp actually jumped and squeaked in surprise. Luffy laughed. “What’cha doing?”
“Talking about you, actually.”
Usopp shot Law a dirty look for telling on him. Law only shrugged. He didn’t really have secrets from Luffy anymore, and this conversation wasn’t worth lying about.
“Oh,” Luffy made and sat down on the armrest of Law’s chair, which creaked dangerously. “Why?”
“Usopp wanted to know if we were dating,” Law said.
“Hey!” Usopp made. “It’s a fair question.”
“It’s prying, is what it is. None of your business.”
“I mean, I guess we all live together, so you guys are curious,” Luffy said and grimaced slightly. “But I don’t think we’re really… dating.” He let himself fall against Law.
“See,” Law said and looked at Usopp with his telltale “told you so” look.
Usopp looked between them, and then, gathering his courage again, asked Luffy: “But you do love Law, don’t you?”
“Sure,” Luffy said immediately. “And sometimes I call him my boyfriend, but not always. But I don’t see why it matters to you.” Law had to smile a little. They had given basically the same answer.
For a moment, Usopp seemed to have to mull that over. “Okay,” he said then. “As long as you’re happy.”
“We are,” they said at the same time and Luffy laughed.
And Law found that he was, in fact, happy. Happy with Luffy.
