Eggnog: What’s your favourite Christmas time drink?

I am a sucker for peppermint mochas and Mexican hot chocolate! My friends and I have started a tradition of going to the big Christmas market and wandering around with a Mexican hot chocolate, so now I associate that flavour with this tradition.

Pudding: Name your perfect Christmas dinner!

So another person asked me this so I’ll answer this one with my perfect Christmas appetizers and desserts!! My family loves Christmas so our Christmas dinner party is something we plan out months in advance. We are also Sri Lankan Tamil, so there’s a lot of ethnic food we serve too!

I’m putting it behind the read more because it’s image heavy.

I absolutely love Sri Lankan mutton rolls. I’m actually super picky about them too, so as of late I’ve learned how to make my own. Curried goat mixed with mashed potatoes, wrapped in a chewy wrapper, breaded and then shallow fried.

Another one is Sri Lankan fish cutlets. We call them cutlets, but it is what non-Tamil people would call “croquettes.” My family’s version uses shredded king fish, but I’ve seen some families use salmon and tuna. You combine it with potatoes, red onions, green chilies and parsley, then bread and shallow fry!

It can be really spicy depending on how many green chilies you put in lol.

One year I made chili lime shrimp cups with arugula and I still think about them.

To balance out all the savoury, my sister’s shortbread cookies. Specifically with her Miffy cookie cutters.

As for dessert, I like having options 🤪

Williams Sonoma peppermint bark (ok, I also just snack on this lmao)

Watalppam: my aunt makes THE BEST version of this. It is a Sri Lankan coconut custard pudding topped with cashews.

Payasam - I think non-Tamil south Asians call it “kheer” but our version is a saffron/cardamom-spiced tapioca pudding. I specifically only like the Tamil version (I’m so biased LOL), because we make it “tropical” by adding in pineapple, mango or splashes of coconut milk into it.

Bûche de Noël: I love love Christmas cakes and this version is my favourite. So much so that this year I got one as my own birthday cake (my birthday is a bit after Christmas). There’s a French bakery here that makes this “modern” version that I loved:

It contains: vanilla mousse and chocolate mousse, crunchy hazelnut/almond Praliné Feuilletine with a chocolate sponge.

Glitter: What is the weirdest Christmas decoration you own/owned?

So to be completely honest, I don’t think I own any. My family and I are very into having particular Christmas trees (every year I decide on the colour scheme LOL), so this was really hard to decide! I think maybe the giant nutcracker? I personally like it but my sister thinks it’s creepy.

The bear is cute but it has this annoying song it dances to. I took out the batteries because it pissed me off LOL.

Ok, here we go!

Time never, not once, not for a second offered to be the leader of the group. He just started making decisions and everyone was like he looks and acts ancient so he must know what he's talking about. Spoiler alert, he really doesn't half the time, but he's learned not to show it. He also spent like a solid week just making decisions and doing things because he's used to just being on his own and getting the job done, and it isn't until Warriors pipes in with a "with all due respect, why don't we XYZ" that Time realizes oh no I became the leader when did that happen

Warriors, phew, I've shared a lot of Wars headcanons, so I'll just stick to that for now.

Twilight has a southern accent, y'all. But he learned during his solo adventure to mask it because people judge his intellect based on his manner of speaking, and he needed to be taken seriously. Now no one even knows he has one unless he's under a lot of stress, physical or emotional.

Hyrule is sweet and bashful, but if he senses danger he doesn’t hesitate. Whether someone is friend or foe, the moment they become a threat he will take them down. He might feel bad about it afterward if it was a friend, but in the moment… *insert the “I won’t hesitate” vine*

Four is the most enthusiastic storyteller of the group and he really wants to be able to talk about his adventure but doesn't want to outright say it.

Sky pipes up when needed and kind of stays to the periphery the rest of the time. He's the quiet and strong and supportive glue of the group. He's ok with that 90% of the time, but sometimes he feels invisible and lonely.

Wild is paranoid about keeping his brothers safe. He'll do literally anything to make sure they're okay, which includes getting his head bashed to protect Wind or disobeying orders to try and kill the Shadow. He wants nothing more than to protect them, and that imbues his behavior around them when they're sick or hurt too. Wild will always try to take care of his brothers in the best ways he knows how, by fighting or cooking or helping them accomplish a task.

Wind wants to prove himself but he isn't overzealous about it. Like he'll get miffy if he feels like he's being babied, but beyond that he just does his thing and lets himself shine like the star that he is. And he isn't too proud to accept advice or tips. He absolutely looks up to all of them, but especially Time and Warriors.

Legend honestly loves the heck out of adventuring and traveling, he keeps all his maps in his bag and marks where he should go next. He can't sit still for any given period of time. But he also plans the heck out of his trips; he isn't going in blind. He isn't used to traveling with others, but he's really growing to enjoy having travel companions, even if he does butt heads with a few of them sometimes.

What one person from history do you think deserved better/deserves more recognition for their contribution to the world?

That’s a tough one, I’m not really sure to be honest... every person that come to my mind do have some recognition- but if I had to name one person from France, it’d be Simone Veil. She thought for the freedom of women concerning contraceptions and abortion, in a country/political setting that was quite machist/controlled by men back then. I have a lot of esteem for her, and when I see other countries fighting for the very same women liberties, I have hope she was one of the very first who started the movement. ♥ Bless her, really.

PROLOGUE

A figure in a heavy dark fur lined cloak walks the muddied snowy streets of Magnolia to the HalfCocor Hotel and Bar. As they open the door, the cold wind howls through the door forcing those in the bar to pause momentarily at the icy blast. The cloaked figure quickly scans the room looking for the person they are there to meet.

At the bar is a young woman waiting with a mug of something warm, deliciously sweet to take the chill out of her bones. She glances up and looks to the door, removing her hood to reveal her long wavy vibrant magenta hair, she adjusting her black earmuffs on her head so they do not fall off. The cloaked figure sees her and sits next to her "I'm glad you were able to meet me so soon." The person slides a small envelope toward the her "Here is the deposit Meredy, your targets are Lucy Heartfilia and Natsu Dragneel. You will get the rest as soon as your task is complete." Meredy pockets the envelope discreetly "do you have a preference?" Meredy happens to catch a glint of yellow in their eyes and a very devilish grin "Whichever one is most convenient."

Meredy stood before the large imposing doors of the Fairy Tail Guild Hall. She was a little nervous about her mission. Thinking back on her planning, this should be the most opportune time to get her target. Gray, Juvia and Erza are all on a mission, they should not be around to interfere with her plan since they are most familiar with her magic. Based on her surveillance this should be the time of evening when most of the members are gone. If her calculations are correct, then there is a high probability that her target is here. She enters the brightly lit guild hall and notices a hand full of people around. Seated in the back corner table are Cana, Macao and Wakaba. They were all too drunk and engrossed in conversation to even notice her coming in, which is most ideal. At the bar Mira is preparing a tray of drinks and there sitting just off to her side is Natsu.

Meredy walks up and happily greets Natsu and Mira. "Hello Mira… Natsu, it's so nice to see you! How are you guys?"

Natsu glances up from his heaping plate of buffalo wings "Hey there…" he has a very puzzled look on his face and then it's like a light turns on "I remember you now, Crime Sorciere right? Meredith?" Natsu goes to nudge happy but notices that he is curled up on the stool sleeping.

Mira giggles from behind the bar "Her name is Meredy silly!" shifting her attention "It it's good to see you! What brings you here this evening?"

As Meredy sits on the stool next to Natsu "I am just passing through Magnolia and thought I would stop in to see how everyone's doing and to grab a bite to eat of course…. Actually, those wing look delicious can I get those and a pint please?"

"Sure!" Mira chirped, "Natsu do you need anything else? Maybe an ale to wash those wings down?"

"That would be awesome Mira" as Natsu turns to Meredy and wipes his mouth "Passing through eh? Anything fun?"

"Nothing exciting I'm afraid, just a reconnaissance mission. Where is Lucy this evening? I was hoping to catch up with her too." Meredy is very pleased that her calculations were correct, he was here alone.

Natsu let out a miffy little huff as he looked down at his wings. "She is back at her place writing. We were just kicked out for 'disturbing her peace', whatever that means!"

Mira sets 2 pints of ale down and then Meredy's plate. "I don't suppose you mind if I join you then?"

"The more the merrier I always say" Natsu gave Meredy his 1000 watt smile.

The bar at Fairy Tail was teeming with laughter as Natsu recounted his most recent adventure with Lucy to Mira and Meredy. Natsu's happy go lucky attitude may or may not have had to do with the 3 empty glasses of ale in front of him. How Happy could sleep with all Natsu's boisterousness is a wonder to anyone.

Mira seized this bright opportunity to bring up her favorite topic when it comes to the partners of Fairy Tail, "So Natsu, let me ask you - why do you spend so much time with Lucy when you guys are not on jobs?"

Natsu laughs off the question "Because what else would I do when I am not eating, sleeping or fighting?"

Mira gets a sly look in her eye and she knew she had him cornered now "But don't you get tired of spending all your time with Lucy?"

He straightens up and without missing a beat "Hell no, she is my best friend, Happy and I love annoying piss out of her to no end."

Meredy decides it is time to advance her mission "Why would you want to spend your spare time annoying your best friend? Doesn't that make her angry at you?"

Natsu's eyes glinted with a bit of the devil "She is just too cute when she gets flustered and angry, I love it." Mira chimes in quickly "So you think Lucy is cute?"

Natsu suddenly realizes the predicament he has got himself into, if Happy were actually awake he would be totally screwed. His face starts to feel a little flushed realizing that he was starting to blush a little. "Look, everyone thinks Lucy is cute, not like I am saying anything new there." He sure as hell hopes this answer is satisfactory enough to drop the subject before it gets out of control.

Meredy seizes her moment and begins to silently conjure her magic needed to finish her mission and with a devilish smirk toward Mira "So then tell me Natsu, are you in love with anyone?" She examines his face and while his answer was explosive "Alright you she-devils this is enough, I am not in loooove with anyone!" Natsu's subconscious mind betrays his words however and the image briefly flashes in his mind. Meredy whispers under her breath "gotcha!" as she silently finishes the spell casting.

Natsu glances over at Meredy "Huh? Whaddya say?" but before she could respond Mira giggles "OK OK Natsu calm down, we won't grill you anymore."

Now that her task is complete, Meredy decides take off before anyone gets suspicious "I'm sorry Natsu, I didn't mean to pry. I think it's time for me to be on my way. I had a great evening." Turning to Mira "Thanks for the wings, they were great and please, stay in touch." Natsu and Mira both thanked her stopping in and wished her well as she walked out the double doors of the guild.

Natsu also decided it was time to turn in, he thanked Mira and poked Happy on the chair next time him. "Yo Happy get up, we're going home now" Happy opens one eye "Aye Sir, just 5 more-" and Natsu looks down to see is asleep again. He decides to pick up Happy and carry him home instead of trying to disturb the sleeping blue cat any more.

Walking down the wooded path to their cottage he realized that his wrist was a little itchy, he squeezed the cuff on his left arm and rotated it slightly to satisfy the itch.
