His words continued to echo in your mind, at first it was amusing, entertaining, joyous, but now things were going downhill fast.

Tsu'tey was your friend, if not your best friend, and fooling him like this felt wrong. Whether with or without the mask you were still the same person, but he didn't know that. He knows you as his close friend since childhood that he's done everything with, the friend that watched him grow into a man, as he as watched you grow into a woman.

As for his 'favorite' masked dancer however he knew you as his lover, who he had just confessed his feelings to that same night, even with the recollection of you repeating how he doesn't know the woman behind the mask. He told you it didn't matter to him, and that your paths crossed for a reason, it only made you realize how badly you've made the situation.

From the beginning during the shows of your fellow dancers of the night you would steal subtle glances at him, winking, smirking, only small things to gain his attention. Since then, things have only escalated; longer glances, small touches, skin to skin moments, and even seeing you before and after your shows.

Recalling back to just a few hours ago after your performance, you were picking up your scattered belongings, saying your goodbyes to your friends as they always left earlier than you have.

"Nga txing fipo uo." [You left this behind.] You heard a familiar voice call out from behind you, you quickly turned around to be greeted with Tsu'teys' slight smile. By now you were used to him coming to see you in this part of the forest after your shows, and with that you'd remain with your mask on, as well as your body paint to 'hide' your identity.

"This isn't mine?" You spoke, your phrase coming out more as a question as you took what he was handing you, some sort of gold bracelet, at least that's what you remember it being called from the sky people. It's some form of their own treasures forged by heat and the earth, different from your feathers and beading methods.

He only shook his head and put it over your wrist, examining it. "Im gifting it to you" he spoke, his accent thick. You only smiled at him, thanking him for the one out of many gifts he's given you, and stuff all of your belongings into your new satchel, also gifted to you by Tsu'tey.

"When will I see you again before our next hunt?" He asked you, now walking along side you, a pang quickly hit your chest as your cheeks were heated.

"Not anytime soon I'm afraid, we perform again 2 eclipses from now, as everyone has to prepare for the great celebration." You said softly, not daring to meet his gaze as you gently arranged your mask, securing it tighter.

"Don't walk away I have something Important to tell you tilor" [beauty] He said, quickly grabbing a hold of your wrist and slowly turning you around, practically forcing you to make eye contact with him. You looked into his eyes, then scanned his face, he had a look of..

You couldn't tell

You weren't sure if it was from what he had been drinking which you could smell off his breath, or his flushed face and nervous eyes, but whatever he was going to say wasn't going to be good for your case.

"Please, make this quick Tsu'tey, I have places to be and things to prepare for tomorrows small morning hunt." You spoke, obviously lying to cover for yourself, you figured since these little altercations to make yourself more hidden you'd lie about your placements and what you did. It wasn't necessarily hard to do as he believed everything you told him, it's surprisingly easy to lie to someone as hardheaded as him.

Well, almost easy.

"Ohe tìkin nga" [I need you] He spoke, then repeating the words 'I see you' along with the actions. You froze, slowly removing your hand from his. Shaking your head, you repeated the words 'no' in a mumble, he quickly took your hand back, looking at you with desperation.

"You cannot confess to someone you don't know, you aren't thinking straight, ngeya rou" [you're drunk] you stated, unable to look him in his eyes. "You like the idea of me, ohe-am ngeya rusey tironsrel, sla nga ke tsun sweyn rusey fifya.." [I am your living imagination, but you can not keep living this way..] you said, your voice hoarse as you felt tears stinging your eyes, daring to drop.

"Do not do this to me, it is the truth. I feel drawn to you, the mask does not matter. If you were to show me underneath the mask, I'd only love you more because you feel like you can trust me." He spoke, pain in his voice as he took your other hand, holding them both and giving them a gentle squeeze. You shook your head, scoffing at him.

Knowing your close friend for several years made it easier for you to read when he wasn't truthful or in his right mind, and now was one of those moments.

"Would you still love me if I was someone you hated? If I was a woman who doesn't live up to your expectations behind this mask?" You asked, a tear rolling down your cheek, mixing with the red and purple face paint you had applied previously.

Tsu'tey paused, unable to answer, your response shocked him truly; how could you even say something like that about yourself? Before he was able to even open his mouth you quickly yanked your hands from his grasp and ran off, sure he wouldn't follow behind you.

₊˚ʚ ᗢ₊˚✧ ﾟ.₊˚ʚ ᗢ₊˚✧ ﾟ.₊˚ʚ ᗢ₊˚✧ ﾟ.

Currently you were back in your hut, hiding all of your belongings and removing the treasure he had gifted you, tossing it out of frustration into the dark woods.

Now with your nerves calmer than before you sat on your cold floors in awe, unable to even look at your reflection in your large bowl of water to rinse the paint off of your body before you bathe.

You felt embarrassed, made a fool of, and guilty. This entire situation could have been avoided if you had never attempted to make a move to begin with, it seemed so harmless.

Truly in the past you were fixated on the idea of telling him the truth, but the more he would rant to you of her beauty and skill or how fond he was of her it became more aware how disappointed he would be. It was something you couldn't bear, so you lived in his facade, enjoying it for the time being until it exploded.

You knew deep down this time would've come, just not so soon, taking a heavy toll on both of you. Listening to Tsu'tey describe you and your 'bright beauty' or how he hoped you were the other girls in the clan he had fancied, such as Neytiri or Ninat. That pained you, especially with your little crush on him just growing larger and larger, your emotions and mind unable to contain your feelings for him.

Just the fact that Eywa opened an opportunity to you to have a chance with Tsu'tey was a blessing you were so grateful for. In all honesty your greed and impatience made this lead so far. You had finally got him where you wanted him, he liked you.

He had finally liked you, after so long, all you had ever truly wanted was right in front of you, but as always, the universe was never truly on your side.

You were only left to sit in your thoughts as you cleaned off your face and body. Your tears mixing with the paints and designs until all of it was gone and you physically had no more tears left to cry.

You quickly bathed and dried yourself off, laying back into your comfort on your hammock and falling asleep.

You woke up slowly feeling the sunlight peer out from your draped cloth entrance to your hut after 4 knocks were placed to the wood of it.

"I'm coming in" you heard a familiar voice say, you only grogged in response as it was all your throat was able to let you do. It was a good friend of yours, Mina'ta. Thankfully she was close enough with you to know everything between you and Tsu'tey, well almost everything. She hadn't necessarily been updated on last night's situation.

She walked over to you and sat next to you, patting your back. "I was worried about you; you've never stayed in bed for so long. Was last night's show that draining?" She asked in genuine worry, she sounded like your mother, making you smile softly.

"No, it's just Tsu'tey.." you said softly, remembering last night's events and wincing at them. "He told me he loves me, and when I asked him would he still love me if I was someone he hated or couldn't see himself with if he truly knew me, he didn't respond. He just stared at me while holding my hands as if he had something to say but couldn't I took that as my 'rejection' and ran off." You muttered, burying yourself deeper underneath your woven blanket, Mina'ta only sighed and hugged you over the blanket, apologizing to you for being in such a difficult situation.

Eventually you sat up and explained in detail all that happened, his confession in depth, his gift, everything. She sat there and listened as you ranted for what seemed like forever. You both discussed, commented, joked, and ate while trying to understand the entire situation.

"If he is someone who is quick to respond and speak his mind, there must have been something he was going to say after your question, he just couldn't bring himself too." She added, crossing her arms and looking over at you, only for you to shake your head.

"It doesn't matter what he was holding back, it's over n-"

"Y/n! Are you inside? It's urgent" You heard the same voice repeat from outside, quickly cutting you off and knocking after his statement.

Tsu'tey

You remained wide-eyed with Mina'ta making the same expression, she quickly stood up and opened the flap to your hut, revealing none other than your unrequited lover.

"Yes, she's here, you two need to speak and speak alone. I'll be taking my leave, but I'll be back later" She spoke quickly, ushering him to come inside as she grabbed her things and quickly left. You didn't dare move a muscle as your back was now facing Tsu'tey.

"Oeng zene pllxte Y/n" [We must speak Y/n] He spoke softly, you heard him take two footsteps closer to where you sat, but not come any further.

Honestly you weren't sure if you wanted him to leave or sit beside you, your heart was pounding so harshly out your chest you could feel it pounding through your ears and head. You were also sure he could hear your heartbeat as well, you only hummed in response as he cleared his throat.

"Please be truthful with me, are you the kxmantxon srew-yu?" [midnight dancer] he asked in a low tone. Your heart was pounding even harder now, your ears now ringing.

How did he know?

Who told him?

You slightly lifted your head, repeating the same answer as before, humming in approval, only to hear him drop his belongings in response, huffing.

"You've made a fool of me." He said harshly, walking over to your side to stand directly in front of you. You could tell he was upset since he walked in, he wasn't really good at hiding his energy in front of you.

You looked down at the floor, then your feet, only shaking your head attempting to not cry. "You seemed so happy at first, I didn't want to disappoint you" you said softly, placing your hands over your chest that felt like it would've burst in any second. He scoffed at your response, now even more aggravated.

"This is unfair, there was no need to lie to me" He said quickly, pacing around in front of you, you looked up at him, now upset at his response.

"Unfair? I'm being unfair. Do you know how hard it was to live up to your expectations? I wasn't even willing for things to be taken this far until you would tell me about how fond you were of her and how she was a 'dream come true'. Don't even get me started on how you thought I was the other girls within the village. I have spent years loving you and waiting, hoping, and dreaming that maybe one day you might feel the same way. Your short remarks or old flirts to me would never go far, but I finally got what I wanted for so long when I was the kxmantxon srew-yu, you saw me for what I wanted, you loved me as I loved you, but it wasn't good enough for you. I'm never going to be good enough for you no matter what I do!" You shouted, rambling through your tears as you jabbed him in his chest.

You were so overwhelmed by your emotions and rage you didn't realize you had just confessed to him. You said everything you felt, everything you held in for so long, all while hitting him and jabbing at him and all he could do was look in your eyes in surprise.

"You're in love with me." He said, sounding more like a statement than a question, surprise written all over his face as he looked at you in awe. You quickly drew your hands back and wiped your tears frantically, placing a hand over your head and taking a step back, nearly tripping and falling onto your place of rest, walking around it.

"No" you lied, covering your ears praying this was some sort of wicked dream. This wasn't a nice situation to be in the slightest, you had fallen for the warrior and the warrior had fallen for the dancer. What horrid circumstances you two were placed in.

Even with your covered ears you could feel him walking over to you, each step he took your heart roared, you tried to focus on your breathing until you couldn't.

You quickly dropped to your knees, hands now palmed flat onto the floor, struggling to breath, gasping loudly. Within a flash Tsu'tey was by your side, one hand holding your hair back as the other was cupping your cheek, guiding you to look at him.

You began to cry, tears clouding your vision as panic surged through you as you tried to call out to him. "I- I ca-"

"Shh, mawey, do not speak, focus your mind." [calm] He said cutting you off, attempting to make you sit up straight to calm you through your panic. Something you both knew was that stress was never your strong suit or factor, it was your greatest weakness.

You shut your eyes, taking his advice, and soon after your breathing remained back on track. The entirety of your panic his hands never left your hair or your face, he looked into your eyes, as if he was looking for something, and nodded at you slightly, smiling, as if he had gotten an answer.

"You're doing better" He spoke, you nodded with a huff, sitting beside him now and wiping the sweat from your forehead as he removed his hands from you, now placing them in his lap.

He hadn't panicked, as this has happened to you before, and he didn't want to escalate the situation by adding his panic onto your own that you could barely control.

"I'm sorry" you said, unable to meet his gaze, as guilt and resentment ate you alive in your head. He only chuckled and shook his head, cocking a brow.

"There is no need to apologize to me sevin. I should be apologizing; this never would have happened if you had felt comfortable enough with me to tell me the truth. Your feelings are very dear to me, and it wasn't until now I realized how much I need you in my life." [pretty] He spoke, placing his hands behind his back now, looking up at the roof then back at you, before you were even able to part your lips he spoke again. "Whenever I think of my future you always appear, no matter how many times I may shake it. Even the olotekayan had pointed it out numerous times, I've always spoke of you, no matter the occasion. Thinking of you doing the things I like or just being yourself would make me smile to myself or make my tail whip rapidly. I realized just last night what I felt for you all this time was more than just a common love, it was unconditional." He said with a smile, looking around and not meeting your gaze.

You were left wide-eyed with your mouth still agape. All this time? The small subtle remarks or flirtatious comments? The small nicknames and gifts he would give you and only you. It was all to prove himself, he was attempting to court you, even before the kxmantxon srew-yu.

Just then Tsu'tey began to laugh and laugh hard. In a way you never seen or expected from him, especially after a time like this and the topic of discussion.

"Tsun ohe peng nga a-niwan?" [Can I tell you a secret?] He asked, peering over to your shoulder and nudging you. You were confused, but still nodded hesitantly, he smiled.

"Ohe omum tsa-nga lu a-kxmantxon srew-yu" [I knew you were the midnight dancer] He confessed, scanning your face for a reaction as you gasped aloud, placing your head in your hands.

So this whole time he knew? How did he know? Was he told? Did he somehow follow you without you knowing?

"How did y-"

"You can't expect me to not recognize the eyes of the woman I've loved my entire life, and her body, and her voice, her eyes and bashful remarks whenever I compliment or treat her." He said, now inching closer to you, your faces were nearly touching and all you could do was look into his eyes, as he did yours.

Your breath hitched slightly; you could hear his breathing from how close he was. You didn't want to pull away, you were curious and Tsy'tey could read it off of you, you placed a hand over the back of his neck, pulling him in closer until you kissed him.

You closed your eyes as your lips touched, starting delicate and sweet, passionate maybe, until it got deeper. Now as much as you wanted to back away to catch a quick breath you physically couldn't, your body craved more of him, as his did yours.

He placed his hand on your lower back, slightly groaning into the kiss as you were now straddling onto him, just then the flap to your hut opened revealing Mina'ta, who walked in head down.

"I know I said I would return later within the day, but I finished my workings early an- oh" she cut herself off, looking and you and Tsu'tey.

You immediately jumped off of him, scrambling to sit down beside him and attempt to 'hide' what was happening, playing with the beads in your braids. She only laughed in response as Tsu'tey didn't move an inch, a large smirk plastered on his face, proud of what he had did and placing both of his hands over his tewng [loincloth].

"Well, you both were busy, I'll be leaving again" She responded, and in one swift motion before either of you could respond she left, and you were still able to hear her laughs from outside.

You both laughed slightly with one another afterwards, embracing one another.

"You're a beautiful dancer and woman, you never cease to amaze me, sevin" [pretty] he said, you only smirked and cocked a brow at him, feeling bold within the moment.

"I can do a lot more than just dance" you teased, looking up to see his cocky expression, pinching your side before leaning in and kissing you and bringing you up to your place of rest.

"Zel wintxu oe y/n" [Then show me y/n] He replied with a cocky smirk, you only leaned up to kiss him again, smiling into it.

Oh, and trust me you definitely did show him.

Right so- Emily's personality ir charlies design for the hazbins Fallen au?? Which should I talk about first??

Let's go with Emily-

Alright! So, Emily is still her cheery self but also due to the nature of the au defiantly isnt all niave and trusting and stuff

In this au, she's learning about seras lies from others, which I think would give her trust issues. I also made her more, angry

I imagine in the au she holds grudges a lot more, mainly against alastor, and has more of a silent anger type personality- here's a small snippet of the pilot for the au

Emily: alright so now we watch *Katie starts throwing insults* ...oookay- vaggie, spear, down *gently holding said spears tip down

Vaggie: wha- but, come onn

Emily: no 'come onn' I don't think you scaring people with you angelic spear is a good ide- *Katie says soenthifn homophobic* .....neveemind *releases spear* do whatever you want ant. I want that bitch to fear for her life

Or it'd go something like that, I'll work out any kinks when I start writing the story, first I wanna awake an episode layout whoch is harder then it loks- I have the ideas but I need it in a list so- jsut gotta sort through all that

Like she isn't like Vaggie, spear raised, but not like Charlie, easy to forgive.

I do imagine she bites her tounge however if you ask for her hienst's opinion, she will NOT hold back. I think once she and Husk become more of a father-daughter duo, he starts rubbing off on her, and she starts blurting some ruder things out

He is so proud of his little(200k year+) girl

It's probably the most evident when I have her tell of Alastor- which will also be one instance of her being super protective over her found family.....listen I know yall love Alastor i do to, but I think he fandom over hypes him, and so does he himself, and I want Emily to kinda call him out, and threaten him in this au

But that'll be another post :)

Remember how I said charlie and slaviathen are like Ron and Tammy 2 but without all the sex? Yeah, well, then Emily is Diane! Vaggie is to but vaggie mostly focuses on getting them out and stuff. Emily and slaviathen just have passive aggressive argument and comments thrown at each other

"Always a pleasure to meet you charlies friends" "*strained smile* always a pleasure seaweed hair stranger" "oooo-Kay let's go- and let charlie Dela with this"

Why vaggie is passive with sleviathan and Emily is the protective one? Honestly idk but I think it's funny :) maybe it's cause Vaggie knows Charlie doesn't tale shit from slaviathen one bit so lets her gaurd down more because she knows charlie has it, so she's more passive or smth

Emily meanwhiem can't STAND being talked down to so absurd bites back no matter what. Which is also why her breaking point would be Katie calling them a slur.

She hates being talk down to, which stems form her years in heaven being treated as a child by almost everybody, good intentions or not it was still always so condescending to her. Especially when it was from Sera or the other heaven born and elder/arch angles

So she definitely internalized that, remember how I said she was often referred to as 'lucifers replacement' by many elder angles?? Yeah, that's where it MOSTLY stems from

She'd also have resentment and hatred for lucifer because of it all, like "I never want to meet whoever the fuck lucifer is" kinds mentality, it's due to this that she refused to search him uo and relaize he was her girlfriends, one of them, DAD

So the dad beat dad episode is...fun!! Emily gets piss drunk with HER dad, husk after realizing the short man in the middle of the living room is lucifer

It's after that whole song at the beginning happens does she realize he's lucifer, cause charlies only referred to him as dad so-

......I should start drafting a psot for her and Peter's relationship- mlm and wlw solidarityyyy

She also be a lot more sexual active I think because liek heaven is restricted so being in hell with norestricrions she definitely is THRIVING on that freedom

I have a scene planned out for when Angle takes them to that bdsm club that involved her buying black silk stuff because why not-

Anyways, the finale change in Emily, I think, for her personality that is would be she absolutely take sfter a more Sloth like sin

"Screw both of you I'm sleeping in!" She absolutely HATES waking up early in the morning, especially if it's after a night of certain events. Vaggie will throw clothes at her and force her to get up. Charlie will already be downstairs full of energy-

Man chapter 95 make me wanna cry

So much father daughter bonding energy here

I love chilchuck so much

I love how everyone just misunderstands the question XD

I also lodt how marcille is fine with her fate and is like "yay besties!" With the elves who are gonna imprison her, lol

Man these pages are gonna make me cry i love them so so so much.

I like how marcille learns that she can't make everyone's lifespans longer just like that so she learned what she had been doing this whole story because of senshi and the others 😭

KAHSBSHAJSAYA 😭😭😭

Chapter 95 is probably my favorite of these final chapters, it gives us a final impression of all the main cast and what's changed about them.

That last pannel makes me go ajsgskaahaba

This reminds me of that one pannel of chilchuck i keep seeing

Even at the end of the manga, kui brings uo interesting things to think about in her world, such as what does chimera meat contain? Would some ingredients be toxic to other races?

Marcille blushing so much at eating her girlfriend XD

Also i heard so much about chilchuck doing marcille's hair and i thought that maybe it would be a few pages long. I really wanted a bonding between them especially since they've been at eachother's thoats the entire series, but alas, its one page and i was slightly dissapointed. I was hoping we at least got one pannel where we see chilchuck doing her hair

I love this series so much, its probably one of my favorites and im so sad to see it go. Totally buying the adventurer's guide once i can buy it (i want to have something physical from this series) so there may be anther post or two of these but that will be after probably a long while

Final thoughts:

But i love kui's detail in her world and characters, there is so much depth and questions in every corner to develop further. The story was syper engaging and i loved every step of the way. I was told that this series was goofy but then goes super serious for the rest, but it actually did an amazing job at switching between comedy and seriousness quickly but im a way that seems completely natural. (I also adore the art style)

She also did an amazing job at making me interested in ALL of the characters. Usually in series they introduce so many characters all of a sudden and dont develop them that well at all, but still expect me to be invested in them, so the series remains just have a ton of scenes of these new characters interacting but are so shallow that i skim super quickly over them, and then i fall out of love with the entire series as a whole and have to drop it because im getting bored, but kuo manages to keep me invested with every character introduced, so im invested in them almost as much as the main cast and love them all (also the character designs are all super creative. You probably saw those posts where people say you cant play the "find the main cast game" with dunmeshi because of how great the designs are.

Man this is such a good series

Can we get more hcs about Curly and darry + sodas little rivalry-thing (i feel like im not using the right word)?? Ik you've made so many posts about this but it's my favorite thing ever 😭

its ok i think theyre dynamic funny as hell

•curly would def have names for them in kreyòl and sodas always like “what did u just say about us, pony what did he just say about us”

•curly did it in french once but he aint know darry took french class so that a quick end to that bs

Thoughts on Unicorn Overlord now that I finished, both positive and negative (long post):

Positives

The graphics are beautiful. The models are great and it was a very pleasant game to play in that sense. I also appreciated the fact you can skip the battles when grinding or just doing minor battles.

Game play: the tactics and team building was a lot of fun and challenging. I really enjoyed building the squads and experimenting with different builts.

Characters: I enjoyed a lot of the interactions and thought the characters really carried it. The rapports were good and there were several times where I wish there was more. Some of them were very funny and others really did a lot of world building.

Drakenhold: By far the best developed of the lands. It is a very strong second area to go to and really builds on a lot of things. The story rapport with Gilbert and Alain is actually some of the best and shows a different side of the relationship between Cornia and Drakenhold which I liked a lot. Even though Drakenhold is supposed to be worse than Cornia, things actually have complexity and I enjoyed it.

Negatives:

The story is middling at best. At the start I enjoyed it and I thought the time spent in Cornia was actually decent if not very close to a middle tier Fire Emblem Story. Drakenhold was good and I wanted more of that. Ellheim was alright but very predictable with nothing interesting going on. But then we got to Bastorias and it was literally a filler arc. There was no real reason to go there besides being curious on how they were handling things. The plot in Bastorias was not related to anything else and none of the main central characters really had anything to do with the area. By the time we got to Albion I was pretty over the repetitive story beats (bad person who really isn't SOOO bad and no we are really best friends) and I thought Albion's bad guy reasoning of ‘I did it to protect the church’ was the weakest. I have no issue with him being against you but I almost wish they had just gone mind control on him rather than his weak reasoning.

Also the amount of times a scene ended with everyone laughing was ridiculous and I don’t understand it. This isn’t an after school special, not everything has to end with a laugh. Let there be emotions besides happy. It would have been nice for there to be more conflict in the areas we have been too besides just clearing out Zenoira. Like, if Zenoira went back and tried to take places or something. It was all just one and done and the war was both pretty easy and happy. A big set back would have been appreciated.

Plot hole: Fun fact, if you accidentally missed the Tatiana quest in Cornia, like I did when I went into Drakenhold, you are going to be absolutely baffled by Hilda’s stuff because characters are going to talk like you’ve been there and dealt with that plague and people.

Character design- oh boy is that something. The female design is so unfortunate and what makes it worse is there are elements of good. Some of the outfits are just fine and not all the body shapes are thin and tiny, which is always nice to see. I don’t mind some level of fan service (Hades did it very well) but SOOOOOO many of the women in UO are just designed to be sexual. To make it worse they try to excuse it with Yahna being like I want to dress like this (completely fine, if this didnt mean ALL the witches had to be dress like her) and then the elves can’t wear metal because of the fae which is interesting in concept but why are most of the lady elves in their underwear but the male elves are fully clothed? PS, Scarlet's boobs bobbing ALL the time got really annoying quickly.

Alain- he isn’t allowed to have almost any emotion except mild and happy and that is unfortunate. This is a character who has been through a lot and he should have been super interesting. I know he is supposed to be stoic but there is more to stoicism than being mild all the time. Let the man have character. I almost wish they made him a little more like Alear (good personality, shows their youth) or even something along what Intsys wanted to do with Byleth (very stoic and closed off in the beginning, starts to open up as the story goes along)

Male Romance- they were cowards and very few of the men can even hint at something more than friendship. You can marry your cousin but can barely get anything from a man. Some of the rapport's show some promise and funny enough some of the most random characters have decent romantic rapports. Rolf has almost no connection to the plot or other characters but is one of the best ones. I am fine with not all the men being romantic (Josef's extremely sweet father son stuff being some of the best and not romantic at ALL), but it would have been to see more done with them.

Romance in General- honestly, I know they would have taken out all the guys but they should have not made every character available for Alain. It takes away from their individual stories. I honestly wished they picked a handful of characters (men and women) and allow them to build the story and romance with Alain and allow the other characters to form their own relationships without worrying about Alain. Sharon and Ochlys have something going on and it really annoys me that they can up with Alain.

Overall:

I had fun and it definitely kept my attention, but I don't know if I can recommend it. Maybe get it on sale.

April 11-13: the famous Ha Giang loop.

We thought a lot about whether we should do this tour or not. Some people say its quite dangerous, others say it was the best experience on their trip. What is Ha Giang loop in the first place? It is a loop through the northern mountains of Vietnam with stunning views and it gets you really close to the chinese border. Over the years more and more tourists showed interest in this loop and now the town Ha Giang basiacally just consists of hostels and homestays that offer motorbike trips for tourists.

You can either rent your bike there and explore it on your own, rent a bike and have a guide showing you the way or get an easyrider (= sitting on the back of the bike behind a professional biker). We obviosuly went for the easyrider option. And now we had 3 more options to choose from:

1: Mamas hostel. Big groups, fast riders and lots and lots of parties. This is quite a tjing on instagram and you alway see the riders being drunk, smoking weed and having a great time. Looks fun but there are many stories about accidents. However apparently great experience for people who like to party.

2: smaller hostels with groups up to 10 people. (Plenty of options to choose from)

3: private tours: if you pay more money you can get a private tour and enjoy the road with no other bikers around. Or you just get lucky like we did, book a normal tour and be the only ones signing uo that day. How did that happen? Join the facebookgroup "backpackers in Vietnam" and get reviews about what other peooke did -> many of them recommended lilainn tours. And we got so lucky that we ended up having a private tour.

After deciding which option fits best, the next challenge is to decide about how many days you want to do it. 2 days is the minimum but its super short to explore the area. 3 days is the minimum in my opnion. 4-5 days gives you the possibility to also go on more hikes and boat trips. We went for the 3 days 2 nights option as it is quite expensive to do so.. we paid 50€ a day p.p.

And to not make my mom worry, it was all really safe. Forst of all I am writing this post after the trip so seems like I survived. Second of all our easyriders were extremely careful. We had a very modern bike and I could alway check how fast he was going. Mostly around 40km/h. And we had big helmets. No knee or hand protectors though.

Hello anon. I debated a long time on if to answer this or not. Not because I have any insecurities or worries about it but simply because this was a horrible time for Jungkook. He was dragged to hell and back over and over again for absolutely no reason. It was horrible and sad and depressing. It's not a time period that should be revisited over so many times. But I'll answer it once and then never again, I'll say everything I want to say here and then move on. I won't post asks about it, agreeing or disagreeing because it's not a topic I want taking up space here. You can all feel however you want to feel about it, I just won't be posting any more posts on it. I hope you all understand.

So this was in Fall/Winter time of 2019, during their break. And honestly the ONLY reason people think they are dating is because Mijoo is a woman. It's an extremely heternormative view point to have. The reasons people state for believing them to be a couple all came out after CCTV footage was illegally shared. The reasons include the backhug footage that was leaked and them clinking their glasses together when they went out to eat. They also said it's because they both now have an eyebrow piercing. And because JKs tattoos look a lot like drawings she has posted (hint. She is a tattoo artist and JK got his tattoos done at her shop.... shocker there are some similarities there).

This is EXTREMELY normal friend behavior. The only other evidence they could be dating is circumstance at best, including Mijoo receiving flowers everyone said were from JK but Mijoo said they weren't and were from a friend. Or the fact that she is also friends with some of the other 97 liners, who ya know.... also got tattoos from her shop.... crazy they could all just be friends? If THIS is what makes a relationship real then all of BTS are in a relationship with each other... and people who believe JK and Mijoo are right uo there with tkkrs. Both believe it regardless of the people involved saying it's not true. Except tkkrs have more intimate moments, hugs, kisses, and cuddles then anyone who thinks JK and Mijoo are a thing. Sooo honeslty the only thing that the Mijoo relationship has going for it is the fact that she is a woman. That's literally it. And if you don't see the problem with that, I don't know what to tell you.

I mean really. Even their back hug looks more friendly then the ones BTS engage in. You would be able to convince me of NamKook before you could convince me of Mijoo. Skinship and hugging is normal in Korea, regardless of gender. And again, BTS all together have more intimate looking hugs than the one they had together.

And even Mijoo has posted photos with her friends on her public Instagram with ANOTHER man backhugging her with his arms around her... again, looking more intimate than the one she had with JK. This is normal friend behavior.

And with them sitting at dinner clinking glasses? Have you never clicked glasses with a friend? Why does this mean they are dating? Other than the fact that they are a man and a woman sitting next to each other and having a good time? Especially because AGAIN we have more intimate actions between the members themselves regarding eating together and literally feeding each other. You could again convince me of OT7 poly before you could convince me of Mijoo.

Not to mention that Jikook had a very sweet late night hotel dinner date just the two of them, where they giggled and fed each other alone.... in a hotel room... and yet somehow because Mijoo is a woman, that makes it more believable. Lol

Not to mention, the dinner they had, that photo is cropped. JK was visiting family in Geoje during their break and ran into Mijoo and other friends there as well. They decided to all grab some food together. There were 6 other people with them at that table. They weren't even alone or acting cuddly. It wasn't a date. Statement issued by BH and Mijoos tattoo company about it below.

And then the very flimsy they both now have eyebrow piercings.... so do a million other people?? Lol and that's it as far as matching for them goes. Not only does BTS have similar piercings together as well (their ears) but they also share jewelry and have matching jewelry all together. Especially the maknae line. So if we believe this theory, I would again be convinced of a vminkook throuple before I would be convinced of Mijoo. A few examples, you could easily find hundreds though

And not to mention their red string soulmate bracelets that I'm pretty sure they ALL have but that TaeGi never take off and Jimin wears constantly and those 3 especially show theirs off. Soooo again, they try to use the couples matchy traditions but they don't match and BTS has her beat out in that area together as well.

They also mentioned Mijoo liking comments on Instagram saying that they support her if she is dating JK. But she was liking EVERY comment that was supportive during the influx of hate she was getting, even if it had nothing to do with JK. Anything she saw that was positive, she liked.

I'll also had super quick that the people who believed this the most, continued to bring it up and make theories about it were NOT koreans. It was C-ARMY. K-ARMY were all more pissed about the breach of privacy and disrespect shown to JK during this time. They let go of the possibility of them dating as soon as the rumors were denied because again, none of the theories and photo evidence has anything more than friendship vibes, especially for what it normal in Korea.

Soooo no, I don't think not believing they were ever anything more than friends makes me anything like taekookers being stuck in the same period. They just literally didn't do anything to indicate they were a couple. Everyone just lost their shit over the fact that they saw JK hanging out with a woman. Which is honestly really freaking dumb.

And I don't dismiss the idea of a fight or break up between Jikook simply because I don't want it to happen. I've discussed Manila and Rainy day here before and fully believe they have had many fights we don't know about. Fights are normal in even the healthiest and steadfast of relationships. I believe they are together and I don't think they have broken up because I think we would see a major dynamic shift between Jikook that I honestly just did and do not see. Right after the Mijoo scandal, JK had a car accident scandal. And then a few weeks after that they filmed Winter Package 2020, go watch that and see that Jikook seemed FINE. I even have a post up about that if you want to read it on my masterlist. I'm not dismissing it because I don't want to see it, I'm dismissing it because there is literally nothing to see.

I can of course be wrong. And anyone is of course free to disagree. But this is how I see it and I hate the way JK and Jimin were treated during this period in 2019. It's abhorrent. I am basing these opinions off a lot of facts and you can find plenty more information about this that isn't just from gossip rags but legit spottings and things the companies and JK/Mijoo have literally said themselves. Anyway, hope this helped you understand why i think the idea of them being together is just... not true and this makes sense to you and anyone else who reads it. I think they were simply friends, and I honestly doubt after the insanity that this scandal was, that they are still friends. At the very least, I know JK went to a new tattoo artist so who knows. I feel so bad for him during all this, it was awful. Anyway, topic closed. Everyone is free to believe whatever they want about this in the end. Hope this helped!

You had to explain the concept of human marriage to him because apparently, it's extremely different in his terms.

"A mating ritual?" He questioned. Jack's thumb kept dancing across your jugular, dangerously pressing down on your pulse with each sway.

"Something like that?" You gulped. Your sweaty palms were no match for the force of his strength.

He chuckled, pressing his thumb into your quickening pulse, "You humans are so fucking needy for everything, huh? First, you think that you're in love with me. Then it's begging for physical affection. Then to..bewedding. Then kids..." He hissed at the thought.

You didn't say anything, you didn't dare. He threw you to the ground anyway, in the direction of the house.

"You want to be mine? You want to be a mate? Well, pet, there are certain restrictions, morbid things that you must do, that you are not ready for."

"Oh, Jack, please just recognize that I want to be with you!" You hastily pushed off the ground as he advanced towards you. "I'm fine with the scare tactics, but please let me know that you won't leave me! I want to be yours, and I want you to be mine."

Jack stopped in front of you, easily towering over your height. "Would you kill for me?"

"In a heartbeat."

"Would you perish for me?"

His empty eyes studied you as you hesitantly nodded, and sighed through a deep growl. "We can arrange something very close to that, [Y/N]."

Toby

You stopped by the pizza parlor on your way home. The ring was hefty in your pocket, much, much heavier than your wallet that you nearly emptied clean.

After grabbing the pizza, you coincidentally glanced at the news broadcast idly playing in the corner of the shop.

Haha, fuck.

Toby was on the news. And he didn't look happy standing over a blurred corpse. He was supposed to be out at work. But you knew that expression. That obsessive stance.

"Crazy bitches out there, huh?" The chef laughed.

You nodded absentmindedly, "Hah, yeah. Sure is."

The pizza was cold by the time you found Toby in a back alley five miles away from the pizza parlor.

"Toby!" The brunette froze at the sound of your voice, axe in midswing. You just saved a man's life just by your presence.

"[Y/N]?" Toby turned. He blinked. Pizza? The man under him managed to shimmy away and escape the opposite direction, and Toby paid no mind as he slowly stood and turned toward you.

"Where the hell have you been?" He was absolutely coated in blood. And worse, he was calm. You have never seen him this eerie, and the shadows of the alley didn't help.

"I got pizza." You held it out, but Toby immediately knocked it down and shoved you into the closest wall.

"Do you know how fucking long I've been searching for you? How many people I have killed for you? And all of this for a shitty pizza that doesn't even sell stuffed crust?"

You coughed your breath out of your lungs, not even hearing the ring box clatter on the concrete.

Toby grabbed it, and fell silent at the sight of the pristine wedding band. You were still struggling to get the air back into your lungs as Toby fumbled with the now blood-coated ring.

"What have I done?" He whispered, rolling the band between his fingers as he looked at you. He sounded so broken, so distraught, pathetic, even, as he came off his high.

"Let's go home, Toby."

Jeff

"Y-you wanted to be mine? Forever?" Jeff's voice quaked over you, knife positioned above your sternum.

He's already caught you before you got there. And before he could gut you, you hastily explained to him what you were trying to do.

You were bleeding, a lot. But it was better than a sliced artery, right? Your entire body is already covered in countless scars, bruises, and even some burns.

"Oh, my beautiful, beautiful, love." He laughed, dipping down to nuzzle your collarbone. "You could have just asked."

There was a reason why you didn't ask.

"I would have bought a ring, an-and garments, and we could have a wedding with all of your friends and family."

His sick mind would blow it out of proportion. People you love will die and perish under his blade. You wanted the ring for later, when you were able to fix his sanity. Or at least when he didn't have a knife in his hand.

"We can start now! You can have a makeover from yours truly!" You squirmed slightly, but Jeff's weight on your torso and pinned shoulder proved your foolish hope to escape.

"Jeff, darling, let's think about this!" You shook your hand as he grabbed your jaw, his crazed eyes already tracing over where your engraved smile would be.

"What's there to think about?!" He threw his head back with a hearty laugh, "You aren't getting cold feet already, love? C'mon, it'll only hurt a little bit. You won't even feel it by the time we get to the jewelry store!"

"But then again, why need a ring when your soul can so obviously belong to me?" You screamed and flailed under Jeff as the knife pierced your flesh, begging him to cease the cut. Your tendons screeched and ripped around the silver blade, blood poured in your mouth, and choked your cries for mercy.

"I will...love you...honor you.." Jeff's vows were drowned over your screams of pain, the slicing of your artery, the squelching of your face ripping in half.

"Both in sickness and in health...that's it. See? It doesn't hurt anymore!"

Your vision became hazy, and you weren't sure when you had stopped screaming. You felt numb. And cold. And weak.

"Till death do us part."

Humans are...very strange with their insecurities.

Jack has holes for eyes, crooked and pointed teeth, and 16+ tongues.

He assures you that they're adorable, and remind him of a baby kitten.

Jack loves to run his fingers over them, very gently as to not scratch you, and traces them to read a story that only he can compose.

And it's no surprise that Jack has the demon equivalent of stretch marks.He was once a 5'7" lad that turned into a 6'6" tall demon.

• Morning Kiss

Jonathan groaned annoyingly at the one ray of sun light that was able to escape the dark heavy curtains of the equally dark room. His first instinct was to get up from the bed, move to the curtains ,and close them properly. However, that was all forgotten when her realized the small weight that pressed his arm to the bed, he smiled as he looked down at your sleeping face. Carefully, Jonathan layed back down, ignoring the light that woke him up and focused at you. He has said how he loved the look of fear in people's faces, but when he is with you he wants to see nothing but your smiles and the peaceful look you have now as upu slept. Leaning down, he gently pressed his lips to yours and proceeded to shower you with kiss, when he heard your giggles it encouraged him to keep going, until you are fully up, which would take a while. The master of fear had always preferred the night, but since he met you he started to love mornings even more.

•Angry Kiss

"Fuck You!" You yelled before turning away to leave to your room.

"(Y/n), please wait!" Called Jonathan and he walked after you.

"No!" You said mot stopping as you went up the stairs. "You alway do that, you promise you'd make time for me everytime, and lile everytime I belive you, like an Idiot!"

When you were almost about to reach your room jonathan graped your wrist to stop you. It wasn't a strong hold, a gentle one that you could get free if you pulled your hand away hard enough. But you didn't and just stopped in your place but did not face him.

"I know I have been a terrible boyfriend to you, my love." He started. "I am so sorry,but please know that I am truely trying so hard to spend more time with you, but the Legion-"

"The Legion this, the Legion that, with how much you use them as an excuse you sound like a broken record!" You spat before pulling your arm away and faced him. He looked so guilty but you stood your ground. "I know your reputation as a villain is important, and I was ready to be patient through it all, when you have your all nighters, your meetings, and even when you get send to Arkham."

"My love-"

"7 MONTHS!!" He cut him off. "We haven't been able to be alone in the same room let alone set together for 7 months, I don't even remember that I have a boyfriend unless I see the news to see you in it!"

"I promise to be there more!" He said quickly. "I will take a break from the Legion, I will even take us on a vacation to that place you love so much, even if the Legion called me for assistant I will ignore them, I will be here for you for as long as you want me! "

All that didn't effect you because he said it all before, but what calmed your anger is what he said it next.

"Please...don't leave me."

His voice sounded so broken and lost. there was a pause between you two before you let out and angry groan, and get a hold of his shirt collar, which suprised him, and pulled him to you, where your crashed your lips to his. Jonathan was so lost and confused but he didn't pull away and gave in to you. The kiss was so agressive, heated, and before you pulled away you bit his lower lip making him wince in pain. The bute drew a bit of blood.

"You better keep your promise this time." You smirked. "Or I'll have to punish you~"

• Desperate Kiss

Like the joker you were Jonathan's Harley, but unlike the mad clown jonathan never abused you. In fact, he'd always keep you close to him at all times, you were his lab partner, the first head seek their opinion on his next plan, and whenever they'd face the batman, he'd send the henchmen to fight while dragging you with him to escape. There were couple of times where you were caught and sent to jail, and because you are not insane the judge would always send to spend time in regular jail for women which makes jonathan go into a frenzy, needing couple of guards to hold him down as the others took you away. Of course, the moment he escapes arkham he breaks you out the same night.

It wasn't long for a rumor to break loss of the two of you dating. You ignored it, which was hard considering how Harley and Ivy would poke you around to make you "Confess", which was never satisfying since your answer was always "We are not dating". The rumor became a reality, when jonathan confessed his love for you and asking you out for a date. Least to say, you were lovely dovey, even when your relationship lasted years, you still acted as if you were have become lovers recently. Despite the ups and Downs of being beaten by the bat, and seperated in court, you were happy.

Until that Halloween night, where Jonathan had planned something... really... Very ...bad. It was so bad that after you were caught and sentenced to jail for life as usual you found out from TV that Jonathan was sentenced to death. You felt your face grow pale and body grow cold at the news. He was being guarded by batman himself to assure he won't escape, that same night you had sever panic attack that they sent your to the infirmary to calm you down before you hurt yourself or others. You tried to escape by yourself but it always failed and ended up with you being beaten by the gaird and sent to solitary. One night a couple of guards took you away and sneaked you out of jail, you were confused by the lake of show, jonathan would put as he broke you out, but you were still excited, thinking he had escaped and came to get you. But was disappointed when you handed a letter from him telling you leave to the agreed location, and with it was tickets. The same day you escaped prison you left the country with the confident that Jonathan will come after you. Months past and you heard nothing from him or of him. Every day you'd go to the post office and asked if there was any letters by your "Fake Name" but every time nothing, you'd stay up at night thinking he'd be walking through the door every moment now.

After a whole year had and you broke down crying because by now you believed that jonathan had died a long time ago and you were hanging to a hope that wasn't there. You were crying so hard that you didn't notice the warm arms that wrapped around you until you were brought against a hard chest. You gasped and looked uo only to be met with tearful blue eyes of jonathan. You didn't think, you quickly wrapped your arms tightly around his neck and pulled him to a desperate kiss, he kissed you back as his hand went and and down your back to calm you down. When you stopped kissing you didn't pull away and only hugged him tighter and rested your head on his shoulder.

"P..Please ...don't go away.. " You begged between sniffs, thinking this was just a hallucination. "Don't leave me alone again."

Jonathan hugged you tighter, deeply regretting not giving a sign of him being alive, how he broke out, how he needed to do many favors for other villains to help him retire, obtain enough money to last you a life time,and live the peaceful life you both have ever dreamed of.

"I promise, I won't."

• Distracting Kiss

You came home from work excited. They finally gave you the vacation that you have been asking for and you wanted nothing more than to spend it with Jonathan. You were daydreaming about all the things you had planned for the both of you when you almost tripped and fell over something, you looked down and recognized the item as Jonathan's shos.

You let out a sigh. Everytime he leaves his shoes at the door like that, it means that he had hurried to his lab to work again. Normally you'd just shrug it off and just head off and make food for him so he won't starve himself... Again. However, today you will no have that. You put your things aside and went to the basement where he had set a mini lab for him to work in, his original lab was in his secret hideout, but he still set a lab in your home so he won't have to go back and forth over small things. You stopped at the end of the stairs and just stared at a hunched over jonathan who was writing on paper as if it was his last day.

"Jonathan." You called sweetly. He lifted his head to look at you and give you a tired smile before going back to his work. That didn't set well with you. "What are you doing?"

"I am working on a new formula for the fear toxin." He answered not noticing you coming closer. "It came to me on my way back home-"

He stopped talking, writing, and breathing when you wrapped your arms around him, and pressed your front ti his back. But that wasn't what made him stop functioning, it was the kisses you were placing in the back of his neck and with how your hand were moving around his body. He let out a sigh of pleasure that he couldn't hold in.

"(Y/n) dear... Please stop." His voice struggling. "I need to go back to work."

"And I need attention." You pressed your body on him more to be able to whisper in his ear. "A lot of it."

Jonathan tried to resist you could see it. He took his pen again and started to continue writing but this time slower than before. You held back a laugh at his determination, and decided to do your own testing, you started kissing up and down his neck. You knew all his weak spots and so it was only a matter of minutes before Jonathan gave up and turned around to give a direct kiss, which muffled your laughs as he lifted you up to your shared room where he will give you all the attention you want.

•Chaste Kiss

You and jonathan were setting together in the living room, you were watching whatever was on TV on the wide sofa, while he was reading in his seperated chair. Expect, he wasn't reading at all, he was staring at you while resting his head on his hand. You looked so beautiful, that he knew very well when he first saw you, but your beauty became even greater the moment he knew you more. You were so smart, sweet, kind, and most importantly patient. When he would be sent to arkham, when he would come injured from a failed crime attempt, when he made a lab in your basement. The list can go forever, yet she still stayed with him and when he asked her why she just answered with...

"I love you, that's why."

It bewildered him, confused him, he found no sense to give up all that for someone just because they loved them, but the warm feeling he felt by your words silenced everything else. He never told you those words, but that doesn't mean the feeling isn't mutual. His eyes trailed to her lips, which made him realize how in the past he hated any kind of physical touch, that just the mention of kissing made him feel disgust. But now he doesn't seem to have enough from her sweet kisses, even in their intimate moments he would make sure to ravish her lips the most... Aside from other areas.

"Why are you smiling?" You asked pulling him out of his train of thought, you also were smiling but he could also see a bit of blush obviously embarrassed by the realization that he was staring at her while smiling.

Jonathan didn't answer, he careful closed his book and got up and left to the other room, missing the pout you had, but it was quickly replaced with bewilderment as he came back after putting his book away, and instead of setting back in his chair he went to set next to her. (Y/n) still looked confused but pleased, he smiled down at her before placing his hand on her cheek and leaned in to kiss her. He could feel her tense in surprise before quickly relaxing. The kiss wasn't heated or deep, just a simple and gentl kiss.

"Jonathan, what-" you tried to asked after the two of you pulled away but he cut you off with un expected words.

"I love you." He said as he stared into her wide eyes.

He never said those words for he preferred his actions to speak louder, but those simple words seemed to please his lover quite a lot.

•Unexpected Kiss

"Shit!" You exclaimed as you jumped up from your desk and started gathering papers and other items from your desk. Jonathan who once in a while would visit your office for a coffee break looked confused if not surprised by hearing you curse.

"What's the matter?" He asked as he silently watched you go through your drawers searching.

"I forgot my mother is going arrive to Gotham today!" You said as you put stuff in your suit case. "I told her that I'd pick her up after work, but I forgot it was today!"

That's going to be troubling considering the distant between the airport and Arkham." He said casually sipping his coffee.

"I KNOW!" You yelled desperately.

"Want me to drive you?" He asked and you shock your head as you wore your coat.

"Thanks for the kind offer Jonathan, but I'll be able to handle it this time." You said getting ready to leave, you went to your place which was across from him and drank the rest of your coffee.

"Very well, just be careful and good luck." He said getting up to leave.

"Yeah thanks you too!" You said distractedly, but your next action left Jonathan with a look of pure shock, you kissed him on the lips before existing the office. "Lock the doors on your way out, thanks!! "

Jonathan was still staring with wide eyes at the direction you disappeared to. You had just kissed him and hadn't realized it yet, knowing you, you'd probably realize it only late at night when things had calmed down and you were alone with your thoughts. Now, you and him have only been friends in the work place at Arkham, but from your action just now, which happened because of two reasons, you genuinely wasn't aware of it, or deep down you wanted for them to be more than just friends, who drink coffee together, or go out for lunch after work.

He hoped for the later, but to finally find out he'd have to wait untill tomorrow morning, or later that night when she'd probably call him apologizing while being embarassed.

Why Ethical Fashion Doesn’t Need to be Boring (In the Words of a Shopping Addict): Lookbook no.14

Hi to anyone reading,

Arghhhh.

I never know how to start posts when I literally just uploaded the other week because I tend to follow the very formulaic approach of summarising what I’ve missed due to sporadic posting…I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m still posting sporadically, it just so happens I’ve had more content to get up recently-sometimes lightning strikes twice, ya know, and I have a brief, if chemically fuelled, reprieve from the permanent state of exhaustion. It’s not like there isn’t stuff to talk about- the last month has seen a horrific murder and public outcry in response. There are a lot of important conversations going on about women’s safety and misogynistic violence that I really cannot do justice to in a paragraph and feelings that have been brewing for a long time that I can’t articulate yet and will not attempt to offhandedly do so in this post. Right now I just wanna say that I stand in solidarity with all those with histories of experiencing violence at the hands of men, those who aren’t here with us anymore as a result of that violence such as Sarah Everard, and those marginalised women whose stories don’t make national news. It’s very telling the way Sarah’s vigil was responded to by the same police force that have allowed mostly male anti-mask protests to go ahead with protestors unscathed, and solidarity with the women who were treated with such an unjustifiable amount of force at the vigil too.

That being said, women’s rights are something I wanted to talk about in this post, with regards to the way it ties into ethical fashion. None of us are perfect and it’s easy living in a first world country to detach yourself from the issues stemming from fast fashion, especially when you don’t have the time or money yourself to be selective about where you buy from. Don’t get me wrong, I do treat myself to some new clothes from fast fashion companies like ASOS and Urban Outfitters a few times a year so this is NOT coming from a place of preaching, but I have drastically reduced that to buying about 90% of my new clothes either second hand from Depop or charity shops or clothing stores that are upfront about their outsourcing practices. I love putting outfits together and updating my wardrobe and I don’t want to abandon that as a medium of self-expression because it does bring me joy, but to continue to update my wardrobe with the frequency I do by buying from fast fashion retailers on such a regular basis I accepted was going against the things I care about; around 80% of textile workers on poverty wages in developing countries are girls and women (opensocietyfoundations.org), and whilst fast fashion companies in the West continue to outsource manufacturing to said countries to cut costs and there is little regulation enforcing employers to pay women the same amount as men or even adhere to a minimum wage, they will continue to be forced into these roles where they are subjected to horrific working conditions, impossible production targets and frequent abuse (according to an article published in the Guardian in June 2018, 540 incidences of abuse, often of a sexual nature, were reported by women working in factories supplying the retailers GAP and H&M when they were interviewed on the subject). There is no denying that the fast fashion industry depends on and perpetuates the subjugation of women and systematically prevents them from making steps towards gender equality in their countries, be it through greater financial independence or the freedom to pursue higher education; the popular current practice by western fast fashion companies of outsourcing manufacturing to factories unhindered by workers rights and gender equality laws by association condones the sexual and physical violence that occurs as a means of punishment for not meeting targets, the exploitative pay which affords women little independence from husbands and families dominated by patriarchal values, and the long, exhausting hours which women have little choice but to take in order to avoid their contracts being terminated and to put food on the table. No, one individual completely abandoning fast fashion isn’t going to put an end to these unethical practices but if all of us make a conscious effort to reduce our consumption at least a little and make it clear why we’re doing so, we put greater pressure on fast fashion companies to act in a more responsible way. There isn’t going to be any kind of miraculous change of heart, so to force them to change we have to hit the industry and the people at the top who benefit from such practices where it really hurts: their profit.

SO, for this post I thought I would highlight some of my favourite more ethical online clothing companies to buy from; the more popular these more socially responsible brands become, the more apparent it becomes to fast fashion companies relying on an exploitative business model that how they treat their workers is of growing importance to consumers. It’s all very well and good Missguided and PLT talking about empowering women and making “girl boss” slogan tees but we need to make it clear that we’re aware of the hollowness of the gesture, and that we want less hypocritical talk and more action to actually enhance the lives of the women that work for them, not just the ones they show in their flashy offices on TV. I’ve included my favourite Depop shops too, because if you can shop second hand, that’s even better; though I like to treat myself to new clothes now and again, I’m aware that the impact the manufacturing process in general, whether or not the company acts in an ethical way with regards to their employment practices, has on the environment is more often than not detrimental. Depop has really been my saving grace this past year-if you know what you’re looking for and have the time and patience, you can find so many gems, and at this point the balance of my wardrobe is tipped firmly in the favour of the reuse and recycle approach to shopping. In the vein of reusing fashion, I thought I’d also include a mini lookbook for a cardigan I got from one of my favourite online retailers, The Ragged Priest, just as a reminder that 1). The best way to be sustainable is to rewear and 2). That with tweaks, one piece alone can give you multiple completely different outfits. Like honestly, outfit repeating doesn’t have to be a literal repeat. Sometimes it’s worth spending a little bit extra on something that looks good with everything, and making that investment into your ability to fool people that you’ve got your shit together by wearing something cool as fuck.

Quickly before I get into it, I’m aware that some ethical companies are a bit out of the average consumer’s price range, and so I wanted to sort them into price point categories which will work as follows:

£= most of their stock is £40 & under ££= most of their stock is between £40-£100 £££= most of their stock costs upwards of £100

Now, in no particular order (and starting with online retailers before moving onto Depop shops), here’s the list!

1. THE RAGGED PRIEST

PRICE POINT: ££

Using recycled fabric to construct their pieces where possible and releasing clothing in small drops designed to sell out rather than following the typical fast fashion model of outsourcing the production of vast amounts of clothing overseas, the Ragged Priest is my absolute favourite clothing brand out there. It’s *semi* affordable and because they are all about those bold, in your face, your-grandma-will-probs-think-it’s-ugly kinda pieces, just one can do SO much for your wardrobe.

I recently bought this cardigan from their The Simple Life drop and had so many outfit ideas for it that I thought I’d put a few of them together for this post just as an example of how you can take the same piece over and over again and still make it interesting, even when you don’t feel like straying too far from your personal style preferences. While we’re at it, I also wanted to use this mini lookbook to point out how fucking great Depop is! Literally everything in these outfits is from there apart from the shoes and the jewellery, the leather blazer on the right I bought a few years ago and then the top and skirt in the outfit from the far left which are both from Ebay. The shoes with that outfit are from Koi Vegan footwear-I didn’t include them in this list because I wanted to keep it consistent and focus on ethical clothing companies rather than retailers that focus on one specific thing such as shoes or jewellery, but they are my favourite place to buy shoes from and focus closely on ethical production too so definitely recommend.

2. MINGA LONDON

PRICE POINT: ££

Towards the lower end of the ££ price point, Minga is probably the closest you’re gonna get to an ethical version of the Dolls Kill Deliah’s range. Their focus on being a socially responsible business is a huge part of their ethos and their pieces are put together in Portugal, where they're based, by a small in-house team; the majority of their fabric is sourced from local Portuguese businesses and even more amazingly, they recycle the fabric of the pieces they don’t sell in new designs. They are just a generally amazing company and I wish more people knew about them because their pieces are fucking adorable and wouldn’t be out of place (or overpriced) in your local UO.

3. ELSIE & FRED

PRICE POINT: £

A small, black owned business set up by 3 siblings from Coventry, Elsie & Fred have earned themselves a reputation as a staple provider of the festival season wardrobe. Being an independently owned business, they have strict standards that their manufacturers must adhere to and a close working relationship with the owners of the two factories who oversee production in Guangzhou, China, to ensure fair wages and a safe working environment. On the environmental side of things, Elsie and Fred are working to incorporate recycled fabric into their designs as much as possible and have this year introduced compostable mailing bags.

4. HOUSE OF SUNNY

PRICE POINT: £££

Follow enough British instagram fashion influencers and you are bound to have heard of House of Sunny in 2020-snagging what is probably my all time favourite coat from there in 2019 before all the hype is a humble brag I will allow myself on the basis that I haven’t been able to afford anything since, lol. Along with kooky, one of a kind designs, being decidedly anti-fast fashion is a huge part of their branding; HoS only drop 2 collections of limited stock a year, thoroughly screen suppliers and on their website you can find a tonne of information on how they’re working to offset their environmental impact too. If you can treat yourself to a piece from there at any point, the quality of the garments truly make the price point worth it.

5. JADED LONDON

PRICE POINT: ££

Similarly to The Ragged Priest and House of Sunny, Jaded London go the route of dropping limited collections on a less frequent basis intending to sell out (particularly popular pieces are occasionally restocked) rather than needlessly manufacturing vast quantities of garments to flog for whatever they can get and cutting corners with fair employment practices to offset any losses. By employing independent staff in the manufacturing plants with which they liaise to ensure fair, dignified working conditions and also by working closely with charities such as the Trussel Trust and Stand Up to Racism, Jaded London demonstrates a level of commitment to corporate responsibility that set them apart from a lot of similar online retailers. They are at the top of their game when it comes to daring and experimental yet wearable pieces and so it’s cool that they recognise the need to conduct their business in a considerate way too.

6. THE HIPPIE SHAKE

PRICE POINT: ££

Owned by UK based bohemian queen Naomi Hession, the Hippie Shake is not only a great small independent business to support but is also the definition of slow fashion. With a limited number of opulent 70s style pieces, I have always wanted to purchase something from here. I’ve yet to do so but I’m gonna make it my mission eventually.

7. VINTAGE HEARTS

PRICE POINT: £

An affordable, gorgeous array of quirky handpicked vintage pieces that would probably take you forever to find in a charity shop or that you’d be charged a small fortune for if you found it in a high street second hand store, Vintage Hearts is where you should go if you want a timeless statement piece that may have otherwise ended up in a landfill. The added benefit of vintage clothing is that it is, by its nature, great for the environment, but you can also look fab and groovy as fuck as you do your bit for the planet<3

8. WE ARE COW

PRICE POINT: £

Offering both original vintage pieces and reworked pieces using recycled fabrics, We Are Cow has both basic branded second hand items but also handmade streetwear style original designs all for a fair price. You can tell that it’s all high quality stuff consistent with their modern, functional aesthetic and it’s clear that the team behind the shop has a real vision in mind when they’re designing.

9. OUT OF THE ORDINARY CLOTHING

PRICE POINT: £

In the words of Corrie Davis, founder of OOTO "I start with the belief that fashion will be always be worn differently by the individual that wears it. Every collection from Out of the Ordinary is different to the last but undeniably Out of the Ordinary. I champion flamboyancy and embrace the cultures I've experienced around the world, merging the two and creating popular style trends in exciting textiles, prints and techniques to bring to you something a little Out of the Ordinary." That pretty much sums up the vibrancy, vivacity and bold elegance of the brand’s aesthetic perfectly, which is reflected by Davis’ commitment to ethical manufacturing based on relationships forged between the founders and family artisans and the sourcing of fabrics from textile markets around the world. Everything you need for a boujie summer holiday in the Mediterranean-when leaving the country is finally allowed again, lol, EVERYBODY GET YOUR FUCKING VACCINE-is here.

10. WILD THING

PRICE POINT: ranges from £-£££ depending on the brand

Probs the closest thing you’ll get to an ethical ASOS, Wild Thing brings together a host of sustainable and independent clothing brands and puts them all in one place to present to us all a collection of the sickest festival style fashion out there. Whilst it’s super cool that this already exists and a slice of humble pie for myself to remind me that I am not in fact the revolutionary marketing genius I thought I was, I’m bummed to know that my idea of said ethical ASOS style website is already out there. Fingers crossed for the next grand money making scheme that comes to mind that I can use to distribute some wealth (yeah, there probably won’t be any because very few original thoughts enter my head, clearly, tehe) xoxo

11. SHOPFLUFFY

PRICE POINT: ££

I know it’s 2021 and we all kind hate the idea of girl boss feminism and the connotations of privilege and exploitation that come with it but can we bring it back when we’re talking about women who embody what it was actually all supposed to be about? Because the owner of ShopFluffy, @lulutrixabelle embodies everything good about the term. Somebody who genuinely does (cue Ramona singer voice here) empower other women through her celebration of powerful female friendship and free spirited sense of personal style that should inspire every one of us to wear whatever the fuck we want (clashing patterns and over-accessorising be damned), Lulu handmakes all the designs on her site and very much places an emphasis on slow fashion by releasing only a few collections a year which you can clearly tell a lot of painstaking effort and talent went into. ShopFluffy is on the pricier side but the adorable crocheted coords LuLu specialises in, reminiscent of carefree childhood days and picnics in meadows picturesque enough to be the backdrop of a Jacquemus runway presentation, are a bold and beautiful expression of playful femininity worthy of departing with a bit more than you’d usually spend. After all, if you are gonna spend that money on a piece of clothing, supporting an ethical, independent woman owned business clearly built on carefully honed skill, passion and authenticity is the way to go.

12. SHOPEASYTIGER

PRICE POINT: ££

It feels correct to follow up the ShopFluffy mention with ShopEasyTiger given the friendship between the former’s owner with Tigerlilly Winfield (is that not the most wonderfully storybook character sounding name of all time?), owner of Easy Tiger. Up there with my most revered style icons, Tigerlilly’s designs are as flamboyant and glamorous and daring and dramatic as her own personal style, and again, they are ethically made! If you want to get that psychedelic rock n’roll groupie that’s actually way cooler than the band itself kinda energy too, her shop is the place to start.

13. HOTTTRAMP

PRICE POINT: ££

Founded by the incredibly hot Belle_hott_tramp on Instagram, HottTramp is a collection of both handmade pieces and carefully selected vintage finds that blur the lines between 90s Courtney Love style grunge and 70s summer of love hippy that make me want to start my own all girl rock band and hire a camper van to paint black and road trip through the American desert. Given my complete lack of hand eye coordination, I’ll most likely never have the instrumental skills to do that but I never said it was a realistic fantasy, okay?

14. LAZY OAF

PRICE POINT: ££

Is it just me that always thought Lazy Oaf was within the same kind of price range as The Ragged Priest? Because it’s a lottt more expensive than I thought. That being said, if you’re going for a playful, toned down Molly Goddard kinda look, anything bright and youthful, Lazy Oaf’s clothes 100% fit that brief. You are paying more, but part of that markup is reflected in their transparency when it comes to their ethical code, which includes ensuring that statutory minimum wage laws are adhered to in the supply chain as well as that all workers are of the legal working age for their countries and that their working hours do not exceed the legal limit. They are also steadfastly committed to donating a portion of their profits to charities dedicated to improving mental wellbeing such as Mind, Rethink Mental Illness, and Young Minds, something that is hugely important to me given my own experiences and the line of work I want to go into.

15. NEVER FULLY DRESSED

PRICE POINT: ££

Similar in their aesthetic to Out of the Ordinary, Never Fully Dressed is big on colour, print, and elegance. They have both specially selected second hand pieces on offer and original designs too and the about us section of their website clearly states how passionate they are about their ethical manufacturing process, which takes place both here in the UK and in China.

16. TUNNEL VISION

PRICE POINT: ££

Offering the dreamiest, one of a kind vintage 90s pieces, Tunnel Vision could just as easily be a grunge girl band come the craft themed moodboard as it is an online retailer. If the 90s isn’t for you-I mean, I don’t wanna question anybody’s taste levels but…-they also have the option of shopping by era, which I think is a really cool feature I wish a lot of irl vintage shops would incorporate.

17. LOVE TOO TRUE

PRICE POINT: £

Everything on Love Too True is fucking gorgeousss and it is no surprise that they manufacture their garments here in London because I feel their brand totally encompasses that stereotypical 90s East End punk vibe perfectly with a shit tonne of chunky boots and show stopping plaid pieces that makes my heart ache for a riot grrrl renaissance. Yes, when it comes to feminism’s place in mainstream culture, making sure the political goals and structural changes we’re aiming for are visible to all is by far the most important, but let’s have a resurgence of the grunge girl’s armour along with that and PLEASE let’s leave athleisure in the 2010s. No more Kardashian nude leggings, I beg (I AM being lighthearted, wear whatever you want! We’re not policing women’s clothes in this neck of the woods).

18. NINE LIVES BAZAAR

PRICE POINT: £££

Eurgh. Nine Lives Bazaar. I want it ALL. Their clothes give me all the Etro, Zimmerman, Torey Burch, modernised Stevie Nicks vibes on a slightly more realistic budget, though unfortunately for me said budget just isn’t realistic enough. You would think pieces being ethically produced is just a given when it comes to clothes within this price range but that’s not necessarily the case and Nine Lives Bazaar is one of the ones you can trust to actually be considerate of their employees needs when it comes to their approach to business. To anybody who can afford to shop here, I am insanely jealous. The rest of us, for now, can just browse the website n feel the fantasy, channel a Valentina level of delusion and pretend it’s just the import taxes from Australia that’s holding us back from making a purchase.

-DEPOP SHOPS-

1. @HOUSE_OF_EROTIQUE

PRICE POINT: ££

Everything handmade and latex and form fitting to make you the baddest bitch in the room, I’ve got myself a few pieces from this shop over the past couple of years. Customer service is a bit hit or miss and there’s been times when I’ve had to wait a while for my purchases to get to me but because they’re all one of a kind and custom made to fit, it’s worth it, and when they have messed up they were kind enough to add something to my order for free.

2. @SACREDHAWK

PRICE POINT: ££

If you picture raiding the wardrobe of a biker gang, snatching the Coachella bound suitcases of the Revolve ambassadors at Palm Springs airport, and then jumbling all those clothes together, that’s probably your best bet at getting an idea of Sacred Hawk’s aesthetic. Formerly an ASOS concession, the brand is now available on Depop and is a collection of the most lavish glam grunge pieces, all vintage or reworked vintage. Some things are a bit on the pricey side but I would say they are all priced fairly considering how unique and ornate a lot of the pieces are, and I reeeeally wanna be able to say I own something from there one day.

3. @IDENTITYPARTY

PRICE POINT: £££

I struggled with how to categorise this Depop shop in terms of price point because although there are some fairly low-priced pieces, the standouts are the vintage coats which are understandably a lot more expensive-if you want to fully immerse yourself in the Almost Famous Penny Lane fantasy, you’re gonna have to fork out a little bit.

4. @RETRO_RAIL

PRICE POINT: £££

Retro_rail is of a similar vein to IdentityParty, in that the standout pieces are the vintage coats which are usually upwards of £100-if you’re looking for one-of-a-kind statement outerwear to invest in, I can’t recommend this shop enough. If you’re like me and you’re looking for something more within the £ to ££ price range, Retro Rail is still worth a browse as inspiration for the kind of styles you might wanna try and find elsewhere on Depop.

5. @5THSEASON

PRICE POINT: £

Most of the quirky vintage pieces you’ll find on offer on this Depop shop are within the £25 to £40 price range and though you’ve got coats similar to those you’ll find on Identity Party and Retro Rail and they are sill slightly more than the tops and trousers and dresses on sale etc., they are more modestly priced than the other 2 listed.

6. @DREAMERSREBELS

PRICE POINT: £££

Another v pricey one, dreamersrebels specialises in the daintiest, most whimsical 60s style co-ords I’ve ever seen. Handmade upon purchase, which in turn guarantees little textile waste, you can find the kind of pieces you’d expect to see on a 21st century incarnation of Audrey Hepburn, all the soft pastels and timeless, retro silhouettes you could possibly wish for. I mean, wishing is pretty much all I can do rn but anyone with a near minimum wage retail job knows you need something to aspire to, lol. I managed to budget enough to treat myself to a Selkie dress so I’m manifesting that same level of self-discipline to get me a dreamersrebels piece next.

7. @AWKWARDPHASE

PRICE POINT: £

Very affordable vintage pieces that range from cutesy mid-century style dresses and coats to grungy 90s jackets, perfectly styled and presented too in a way that will have you wanting to order something for yourself to replicate that modern spin on old staples and give them a second life.

8. @EVIEHALLOWS

PRICE POINT: £

Another Depop shop where the clothes are styled so well, it’ll have you thinking you can make anything from a floral 1950s housewife style cardigan to a lycra jumpsuit look very intentionally on trend.

9. @JAHOOLI

PRICE POINT: £

There’s also Jahooli, which I will just say ticks all the same boxes as the other two aforementioned stores to avoid repeating myself.

10. @LOVELYANDLOVELESS

PRICE POINT: £

In terms of price, I would put Lovely and Loveless into the same category as Jahooli, Awkward Phase and Evie Hallows, the difference being that the clothes available are more on the dainty, classically feminine side. People who have a Pinterest board dedicated to the cottagecore or light academia aesthetic (whew, the gen Z is showing), this one’s for you.

11. @CHLOESTJOHN

PRICE POINT: £

Finally, we have the ChloeStJohn Depop shop and it’s definitely a good one to end on; picture the wardrobe of Carrie Bradshaw if she’d lived in Camden instead of New York in the 90s and hung out with a slightly edgier crew than Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha and there you have it, the vibe of the pieces on offer. Does it belong to a girl who probs lives near Primrose Hill and has access to all the boujiest second hand clothes shops available which she most likely routinely raids to resell on Depop? Potentially, but hopefully not because I am very here for this whole red wine in one hand and a cigarette in another back when people were allowed to smoke inside bars aesthetic. I’m sorry that the gen Z part of me once again jumped out in such an aggressive fashion with that last sentence, but I know you know what I mean.

And that’s everything!

I did wanna close off the post with a reminder of how nuanced a discussion this is-having the time and money to be more conscious about your ethical footprint when you’re buying clothes is in itself a privilege; fashion shouldn’t be an interest reserved for only those who have the means to pay extra or spend time scouring the internet. It’s also important to be aware of the lack of size inclusivity-a lot of the “trendy” sustainable fashion brands tend to not stock anything larger than a size 14 and attempt to deflect attention away from this by categorising clothes as either XS, S, M, or L, which is in itself a bit of a pisstake considering that 12-14 is the average clothing size here for women in the UK, and so in no way large. Shopping from Depop and Ebay is hard too when so many brands fail to understand how to fit a non-straight size body which in turn necessitates trying stuff on before you buy it, something that isn’t possible when you’re shopping second hand. A lot of Depop shops fail to offer returns and even with those who do, chasing up that return can be a time-consuming and generally all round frustrating process.

Basically, when we’re having these kinds of discussions it’s important to consider everyone’s situations and avoid sitting on some kind of high horse. I feel like things have become even more complicated lately- with the recent closure of once popular high street stores such as Topshop and Miss Selfridge, it has got me thinking a lot about just how many people’s income here in the UK is dependent on fast fashion retailers too and their popularity. The job scarcity resulting from these kind of closures, which are often all that is available to a lot of people with the demands of the job market seemingly becoming more and more impossible each day even for those who have been in higher education, is clearly an issue when the kind of support you can expect from the government as someone out of work is so woefully inadequate and likely to become even more so as the conservatives push for further cuts to UC and PIP. The past year has really shown us just how shaky the ground that an intensely capitalist society stands on is and how quickly everything can go tits up when we don’t invest in a safety net for those who are struggling. People seem to have realised more than ever the extent to which those whose jobs we deem “low-skilled” are actually the backbone of society, and yet even here, whilst the situation may not be quite as desperate as it is elsewhere, we still haven’t seen pay rises that reflect that. Turns out all the clapping WAS an empty gesture, who’d have thought it (for fuck’s sake)? Fair wages really are a global issue that starts with paying people enough for them to comfortably live on and in time should lead to a shift in consciousness away from the concept of profit before everything else and towards an equal playing field for everyone, something we should take every opportunity to speak up about and demand from our “leaders”, however shit a job so many of those leaders do. It’s frustrating how the focus on making ethical purchasing choices is so often on the overconsumption of things that women historically are more actively interested in such as clothes and accessories and make up when the reality is that the wealth of every industry titan on this planet, NOT just the ones who dominate the fast fashion sphere, depends on them continuing to get away with exploiting people-we should be looking at how we can show our dissatisfaction in all areas. Maybe I’m perpetuating that with this post, since a lot of the online retailers I mentioned only sell women’s clothing, but that being said, I’m not about to do men’s work for them, lol-they should make the effort, if possible, to research into sustainable clothing alternatives too.
