Midway through December, Eddie’s publishing house puts on a holiday party at their HQ all the way in NYC.

Okay – all the way might be a little dramatic. New York isn’t too far a haul from where Eddie and Steve put down roots in Massachusetts, but with three hellions under the age of seven, anything outside of their typical routine is a stretch.

They’re making it work though – anything for an opportunity to get some childless time together – and they’ve got Robin and Nancy watching the girls so they can stay overnight in the city, and they’re getting all dolled up too (Steve is wearing an enormous cableknit sweater with a turtleneck underneath and, seriously, Eddie had no idea that many layers could still be that fucking hot until he met Steve). 

Normally Eddie wouldn’t give a shit (he likes to bring a kind of come as you are type of vibe to the function, typically), but he’s actually looking forward to an evening spent wearing clothes that aren’t covered in snot and craft glitter and food.

He’s wearing these dark grey plaid trousers and he’s got a silk-ish black button-down on over a black undershirt, tucked in and unbuttoned simultaneously, and he’s topping it all off with a positively ancient leather jacket that he’s had for longer than he can even remember.

He looks pretty fuckin��� snazzy, if he’d say so himself.

Eddie is putting the finishing touches on his look – selecting the perfect assortment of rings and chains – when the door pushes open and his four-year-old, Robbie, enters the room.

Robbie pulls a confused kind of face as she looks him up and down.

Eddie furrows his eyebrows.

“What’s that look for?”

Robbie’s still got her nose all scrunched up as she says, “What happened to you?”

And now Eddie is offended because he actually thinks he looks pretty great, thanks, and he could do without judgement from his pre-schooler (who still gets dressed with her shirt on backwards half the time, just for the record).

“Amelia Robin, you cannot be serious.”

“What happened to you?” she repeats.

“Oh, you’re gonna double down on that?”

Robbie doesn’t even bother responding, just skitters back out from whence she came or whatever. He can hear Robin just behind him trying not to laugh.

“Did you tell her to say that?” he asks her, because it’s far from outside the realm of possibility.

“I swear on all that is holy I didn’t,” she snickers, “That was totally her.”

Eddie sighs.

“Y’know, Steve’s got all this big talk about oh, she’s you, Ed, she’s just like you,” Eddie says, his voice going all high and mocking, “But that – that was pure Steve.”

They head downstairs not too long later where Steve is walking Nancy through the insane binder he stores all of the girls' info in.

“Hey,” Steve says, a grin growing on his face, “Look at you.”

“Eugh,” Robin groans, “Can you guys leave already and be gross outside my line of sight.”

“You look good as hell,” Steve ignores her as he tugs just a little on the hem of Eddie’s coat.

“Can you tell your daughter that, please.”

“And…..You are-? Quite the rude introduction you’ve made for yourself. Such manners would make me think you were from Durmstrang!”

“Miss me?”

Oh man I’m already dreading the tantrums and silent screams and deluded reasonings and mini ship wars and everyone’s souls leaving their bodies in hopelessness after the 8x06 airs.

But at least we get this?

I love how many mutuals I have on here who would otherwise never be mutuals with such a shameless Steven universe kinnie but im just such a genuinely nice guy that they can’t be mad at me for it.

I actually enjoyed The Substance. I think it did what it needed to do. I feel like the people who didn’t like the movie were looking for something else. Some happy straightforward story of a woman who learns to love herself and punishes the men responsible for having her believe otherwise. But real life isn’t like that, simple and easy, and women aren’t passive victims. The movie is about the beauty industry and how it affects women predominantly. So the movie is about women. The audience isn’t stupid, we know the role men are playing and the movie makes it clear: the men are vulgar, old and gross; they leer at women half their age and half naked; Harvey (which could be a play on Harvey Weinstein 🤷🏻‍♀️) literally says something along the lines of ”I made her to be perfect” when talking about Sue. They are the ones who stand to profit, and while Harvey and Elisabeth appear to be close in age, Elisabeth’s career is ending, whilst Harvey’s is as good as ever, so long as he can produce another young beautiful thing. There’s no need to say “men are bad” for us to know that they are villains. Yes there are pornified scenes bc the movie itself is vulgar and obscene, it’s meant to evoke strong emotion; it’s satirical and absurd. At times I was at the edge of my seat, or with my hands covering my eyes, or bursting out laughing. All in all, the two hours flew by bc I was immersed. I get that not everyone has the same tastes with regards to such sensitive topics, but this is just one way of making a social criticism. Finding it tasteless and vulgar does not mean it’s misogynistic or that Fargeat is a misogynist, I believe she was clever and bold. And it’s so obvious it’s satirical lmao. Finally, women are active participants of the beauty industry, so yes, just as women inject Botox, Sue was injecting bone marrow to make herself beautiful. She couldn’t stand Elisabeth, the same way many young women can’t stand the thought of aging. That doesn’t mean Fargeat is blaming women for the way society views older women, but rather a representation of the many ways women react to a society that is hostile towards women aging.

Do you know daemons, souls given animal form that can't go too far from their person and are only touched by other daemons or family/very closed loved ones.

Imagine shadowpeach daemon au. wukong daemon looking weird and never settling in 1 form due to the 7 immortalities. Encouraging wukong bad habits of being secretive and self sacrificing. Macaque daemon (imagining a cat) looking dreadful due to dying, all the damage macaque has physically and emotionally being exposed. i can see Wukong’s daemon trying to mimick other animals it sees such as blending in with the FFM monkeys or one of the horses from the heavenly stables. not to mention the fact the because it never settled, people of Heaven saw it as a bad omen or were just more wary of him.

and tbh i see Mack’s daemon settling as a colorful creature because of how feels the need to suppress a lot, so maybe a calico cat or a snub nosed monkey or a falcon (his daemon achieving the freedom he believes he lost)
