It’s kinda hilarious how olivia stans on twitter try to re write history and make it seem like olivia is the biggest victim out of the DL 2021 drama… like if anything she got the best outcome out of the three and at the peak of the drama people were sending josh and sabrina death threats on HER behalf. I personally think they just hate the fact that the gp is starting to realize they way this teenage breakout got overdramatized was insane and both sabrina and joshua really didn’t have to go through all of that and they secretly hate it, i fear they want josh and sabrina to get hated on until they die 😵‍💫 goes to show how they were always the bitter ones and they can’t move on

honest thoughts:

i think all fandoms are dramatic. i hate how joshua fans to this day use his “problems” and “infection” (forgot what its called but the thing that happened to him) to this day to make him a saint and an angel. when he isnt and its okay.

Sabrina fans to this day will keep talking about the hate she received when the smart move is to move on and not TIE HER to the DL fiasco. theres a reason she doesnt sing Skin & its also cause she knows Joshua didnt deserve her & she got shit for a relationship that went to shit cause of him. like sabrina said abt skin she isnt in that place anymore.

Olivia fans want to make it all about her how she was 17/18 and had to deal with “narratives” made about her #1 hit song worldwide. when lets be honest like i wouldn’t give a fuck what anyone says if my fav already won the situation cause Olivia did. Like she was the winner and still is the winner so why care if some accounts said anything like her numbers are proving everyone wrong.

which is why i think is weird for some livies account making “troll” accounts to obsess over sabrina and spread fake rumors. like what will you or olivia gain ? does it really bother u to see Sabrina do well ? Olivia is already doing better than her so why try to sabotage someone else.

back to the plot, all fandoms are dramatic, i think everyone needs to move on in some ways.

ok i made my point and listed fandom things i hate 😭 anyways some livies just need to move on but so do joshua and sabrina fans from the DL fiasco but (so i dont look biased when u read my posts here) that doesnt mean i wont call out Joshua on his relationship with Sabrina. i am not sending dts or supporting anyone who does im just analyzing the situation thats btwn him and sabrina (not dl &olivia) .cause to me thats not the same situation.

LeoOlivia stand in front of me beaming at each other and I keep giving confused looks to both of them.

I don’t realise my mouth is gaping in surprise till Livy speaks. “Chin up Drake or you may drool your whiskey.”

 “Since when?” I fumble over my words. “You… you never said anything.”

“You never asked.” She replies calmly.

“When did this happen?”

“When you were busy being a doting commoner to the court and running away from me.”

 Leo laughs at her comment and adds, “You could have done better as her best friend Drakey.”

“My apologies to the Duchess.”

Olivia swats me on my arm. A royal guard approaches Leo, “The king is asking for you, sir.”

“Excuse me, dearies.” Leo places a kiss on Livy’s cheek and walks away with the guard. I watch Livy gazing at his retrieving figure.

“So, why now?” I ask her.

“Huh?”

“I understand that you have been meeting in secret, till now.”

“Leo didn’t want to create any more problems for Liam. He stayed at Lythikos, maintaining a low profile and preferred we wait till the social season gets over.”

“Why did you plan it today, on the coronation ball?”

“You may say I wanted the right waltz partner today.” She gives a carefree smirk.

“I am really sorry. I was not there for you.”

“Its fine. I guess that was how we were supposed to find our paths.” She then says, her eyes pointing at Hana. “How are things between you?”

“She is leaving for Shanghai tomorrow. Her parents want her back.”

“And you plan to just sit and watch her go?”

I shrug my shoulders. “Not much that I can do amongst the powerful nobles. I promised her, we will find a solution but I don’t have a clue.”

“In the end she will leave heartbroken from here.” There is hurt in her eyes.

“ Why do you say that?”

“Why do you you do that?” she questions me instead.

“What?”

Livy shakes her head, “Nothing. Go enjoy the time you are left with, with her.” She leaves me alone and I keep staring at her back, thinking about what she meant.

The musicians start playing the Cordonian waltz, and the eager one pair up twirling around on the dance floor. There are many smiling faces, Liam and Riley, Olivia with Leo, happy in each other’s arms. I watch them moving swiftly across when a gentle tap on my shoulder distracts me.

“Hana?” I turn to find her behind me.

“Dance with me?”

“You know I can’t.” I shy away.

“Follow my steps. You have tried once. Remember?” she insists.

“How can I forget? That was the best birthday I had.” The sweet memories of the autumn night, bring a smile on my face.

“Shh. Don’t. Someone doesn’t like to talk about birthdays.” She teases me.

I laugh at her sarcasm, as she pulls me to the dance floor. I follow her steps and pick up the pattern of movements, in few steps.

“See, that was easy.” Hana whispers, her hand in mine and her body flush with mine. I am going to miss her voice, her smell, her touch. The thought upsets me.

“Hana, what am I going to do without you.”

“Liam will need you around a lot with his new role as a king.” She tries to reason.

“I am a vet, not a royal advisor, that he would need me.”  

“It’s not always about your qualifications. It’s about who you are as a person to him. You are his best friend, his confidante, his pillar of strength in his difficult times. You are that commoner who keeps him grounded amongst the high headed royals.”

“And who will keep me sane in the throng of these high headed nobles?”

“Don’t make it more difficult for me, please. You know how much I want to be with you. You will have all of them,  Liam, Max, Riley. I am going to be all alone back home.”

“Then stay back. Don’t go.” I try to convince in vain.

“You know I can’t stay. Liam has promised us he will find a solution. When we are away, maybe we will be able to find a way through.”

I let out a sigh in defeat. “You are stronger than I had thought. But I am scared. Scared that I will lose you. Just like…”

She places her finger on my lips, “No, you will always be in my thoughts. I will call you.”

“How? We will be in different time zones.”

“It’s just a 6 hours’ time difference. We can catch up.”

“I don’t want to catch up. It want to be with you.”

“Don’t be so tough.”

“Don’t go away.”

“ I am always here.” She gently places her hand on my chest.

I don’t care if my steps are falling right as we waltz. I wish to absorb all that I have for the rest of the evening. I won’t leave Hana’s side till the night gets over.

Early next morning, Hana is ready for her journey. Liam and Riley stand beside her bidding her farewell. Max roams around aimlessly. Hana says her good-byes to them all and walks to the door where I stand with a sullen face.

They all walk out one by one leaving just the two of us alone. She leans in and I take the whiff of her perfume as I hug her.

She cups my face. “Don’t be grumpy.”

“You too? I hate Riley for teaching you all her unwanted vocabulary.”

She smiles through her glistening eyes. “I love you.”

“I love you more.” She hugs me again.

“Now I need to leave. Wait for my call.”

And just like that, she is gone. Hours turn into days and days into a week. She never calls up. I keep waiting. I try asking Riley but nothing comes up except reassurances.

Liam has kept busy with his plans for the engagement tour and setting up his new council. I try to keep myself busy at the stables and on the farms until after a week when Livy visits.

“How are you?” She asks, tilting her head, judging with her piercing green eyes.

“As always.” I give a casual shrug.

“How is Hana?”

“I don’t know.” I avoid her gaze.

“What do you mean you don’t know?”

“I kept waiting but she never called back.” I say as a matter of fact.

“You are an idiot.” She says in a raised voice.

“What? What did I do?” I give her a puzzled look.

“That is the problem. You don’t do anything. You know her circumstances.”

I leash out my frustration at the situation. “For all we know she must be having her precious fingers dipped in silver wares, busy, throwing away parties and bragging about her Cordonian expedition.”

 “How can you say that for her?”

“Because I am a fool. After all, she is a noble like you all. Why would she care about some commoner she had a fling with?”

Livy snarls at me. “You moron! Are you out of your senses? You know the conservative culture where she comes from. And yet you sit here waiting for her call?” She smacks me hard on my bottom. “Get your ass up and act.”

“Gawd! Lady, have you forgotten your manners?” I rub my hurt part and stare at her offensively.   “Where do I call? Her old number is invalid. I don’t have any alternate number. I can’t call up at her estate and say that I am the royal vet and want to speak to their daughter because I am in love with her. I don’t know what repercussions she will face for that. What can I do?”

She thinks for a moment and then speaks. “Meet me in Liam’s study after two hours.”

“But?”

“Just do what I am telling you.”

“Okay.” I throw my hands up in the air and walk away.

Three hours later I am sitting in front of Liam’s desk. Riley is standing next to him smiling widely.

I look at Livy, who is sitting next to me handing me some documents. I have read them carefully and I can’t believe what I am getting myself into.

“Do you think this will work.” I ask Livy

“I don’t do half cooked job. I have covered up all loopholes. It definitely will work.” She says firmly.

“Why didn’t it strike me all these days?”

“Not everyone has the prowess of the scarlet Duchess.” Liam beams looking in approval at Olivia.

“Thank you for doing this for me.” I have said that almost ten times in last half an hour.

Olivia stands up and I follow suite. “You are a nuisance to handle Mr Walker. It’s rare to find a match for a stubborn stag like you. Now that we have found one, it’s better you don’t lose your chance at it. Go, get her!”

I hug Livy. “You are the best!”

“I know.” She says with a smirk.

I pick up my air tickets and the official documents addressed to Mr Lee with the royal seal from the king of Cordonia. I walk out of the study with a spring in my gait.

I grin thinking about seeing Hana soon and that too in Shanghai. Dreams do come true!

Gary shrugged, “I dunno what to tell you other than that.” He stood up and crossed the short distance between them. He grabbed Bobby’s shoulders, speaking with the most serious tone Bobby had ever heard out of him. “Mate,” he said, “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

After a firm, friendly slap on the bicep, Gary headed out and left Bobby alone in the dressing room. It hurt more than Bobby would’ve been proud to admit. As soon as the door shut behind him, he let out a loud groan. He knew Gary was right. And he knew that if he didn’t try, he’d regret it for the rest of his life.

Bobby walked over to the full-size mirror that hung on the wall, staring at his reflection as he gave himself a pep talk. He desperately needed it. After a minute or two of a silent, internalized discussion, Bobby left the dressing room too.

He went straight to the kitchen, knowing that’s where he’d find her. Liv and Chelsea had a silly tradition of splitting a grilled cheese before every recoupling. “It’s impossible to be nervous when you’ve got a cheese toastie,” Chelsea told Olivia the night this little thing they did began. Bobby had been somehow convinced to make a few of the sandwiches for them. All it really took was a bat of Olivia’s eyelashes, along with a ‘pretty please’ in that posh accent he loved making fun of, and Bobby was somehow in front of the stove before he even realized he was doing it.

Bobby was correct, finding Liv sitting on a barstool next to Chelsea. He could’ve sworn he felt his air leave his lungs at the sight of her, already dressed with her hair and makeup done. A green dress stoned across the bust and sparkling even in the shitty fluorescent lighting of the kitchen. Her hair was curled, long and flowing down her back.

“Aye, Livie,” he said, trying to sound as casual as he could and not like he was absolutely bricking it. Liv turned around, eyebrows raised and suggesting he continue. Bobby rubbed his hands together nervously before he continued, “Do you think I could pull you for a chat?”

Chelsea pouted from beside Olivia, “Bobby, babes, we’re having our toastie.”

“I know, I know. I’m sorry. It’s uh, kinda important.”

Liv didn’t need to hear anything else, hopping off of her stool at the sound of the word important. She smiled at him, “Terrace?”

Bobby nodded, “Yeah. Terrace.”

His heart was pounding so hard in his chest that he wouldn’t be surprised if Liv could hear it from the few feet away she was as they climbed the stairs to go up to the terrace. Once finally up there, they sat in silence for a moment, both of them staring off at a particularly breathtaking sunset that filled the Spanish sky with shades of pink and purple. The way the light danced across Olivia’s pretty face gave Bobby the little shot of courage he so desperately needed.

Bobby sighed, “So...”

“So...” She repeated, turning in her spot to face him directly.

“I, um...” he stopped and his lips snapped shut, suddenly realizing he didn’t really have a plan here. Bobby groaned and ran his fingers through his dreads, suddenly looking off into the distance again.

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, yeah. I’m fine.” He went quiet again, making this claim hard for Olivia to believe. His mouth twisted to the side as he went through his options. Much like most of Bobby’s plans in life, this one came down to ‘well... fuck it.’

He finally looked back to Olivia, their eyes fixed on each other. Bobby took a second to take a deep breath before he spoke, “I love you.”

Liv’s eyebrows shot up, “What?”

“I said I love you.”

“What do you mean, ‘you love me?’”

Bobby’s heart rate managed to pick up even more than it already was, now convinced it might burst right out of his chest and into Liv’s hands. As if she didn’t already have it there anyway. He averted his gaze for a split second, but not for long when he reminded himself that he was too far to back down now. Eyes locked once again, he answered her, “I mean I’m in love with you.”

Olivia didn’t say anything, not at all helping Bobby’s internal meltdown. She just stared at him, still a little wide-eyed as she tried to process what he just said. The silence sent his mind into overdrive, forcing word vomit out of him, “I know this is so sudden and so out of left field. Like, I’m sorry to just throw this at you like this but fuck... I just know I’d regret it until the day that I die if I didn’t say something, if I didn’t try. I’m not expecting anything out of you, Olivia.” She noted the use of her full name, which he never called her. He continued, “I’m really not. I just needed to say it, you know? Whatever you-”

Bobby’s spill was cut off by a knock on the terrace door, Lottie making a come-on motion, signaling that it was time to go down to the fire pit. Bobby’s heart sank as he realized he didn’t even get a response out of Liv. He had no idea if he had just fucked himself, and he wouldn’t until her phone rang with a text once they got down there.

They went back downstairs together, tension thick enough to be cut with a knife as they walked without saying a word.

After another twenty or so minutes of the producers getting everything set up passed. Hope had already made her obvious choice of Noah. Liv’s phone dinged as soon as the couple sat down together.

Bobby watched her intently, looking at her for the first time since they got settled by the fire pit. He nervously drummed his fingers on his thigh as he waited for her to speak. He wasn’t sure if he had ever been more nervous than he was in that moment in his entire life.

“Well, um,” Liv started, stopping as quickly as she began. Bobby could see the gears shifting behind her eyes, clearly making this decision off the cuff. He was unsure if that was more likely to work in his favor or not.

Olivia carried on, “I thought that I was going to stand here tonight and know exactly what I was going to do. And well, I’ve always been one to go with my gut, follow my heart or whatever.” Bobby shifted nervously when she looked at him. “I don’t know. I could stand up here and ramble, but I think I rather just cut to the chase, yeah?”

When Olivia looked to Lucas, the furrow in his brow was deep-set, only worsening the guilt she already felt for the decision she was about to make. She held eye contact with him, “and I am so, so, so sorry...” Her eyes moved to Bobby, “but uh, the guy I’d like to couple up with is... Bobby.”

“What!?” Lucas barked. “Are you kidding? You’re kidding, right?”

“Luke, I’m sorry.”

“You didn’t even have the decency to dump me with some dignity?” Lucas asked in a clear state of disbelief.

“Bobby literally just pulled me to talk right before we came down here. I didn’t-”

Olivia didn’t get to finish what she was saying, cut off by Lucas standing up and storming off. He nearly shoulder checked her as he passed. Her eyes snapped shut with the sound of the sliding glass door slamming as he went inside, so loud it could be heard all the way by the fire pit. It almost surprised her that the door didn’t shatter with pure force.

“Well,” Chelsea said with a clap of her hands, trying her best to move things along, “Where were we? Bobby?”

All eyes shifted to Bobby, still in his seat and utterly shaken to his core by Liv actually picking him. Their eyes met again, and he finally hopped up before making his way over to her. What was he supposed to do now? He didn’t think this far ahead. Bobby also didn’t plan on the whole Lucas tantrum, but hey, he didn’t really plan any of this, did he?

Luckily, Olivia tossed her arms around his waist as if nothing happened, and finally spoke directly to him, voice almost a whisper, “You have some ‘splaining to do, mister.”

A warm chuckle rumbled in his chest, “I know.”

I met my friends after school at Rosie’s for milkshakes as per our usual Friday afternoon tradition. I got there first, so I sat at our usual table near the door and pulled out my phone. As I grabbed it, it buzzed and I saw Monty send me a text, have a good time with your friends Liv. Maybe order something different this week. Could be fun for you. I’ll see you in a bit. I love you. Smiling to myself, I quickly responded.

I had to hold back a laugh at his suggestion. I’m sorry, did you just suggest vanilla? YOU suggested vanilla?

That’s about the only thing I suggest be vanilla, little miss. I felt my face heat and didn’t respond.

“Hey Olive.” Clay greeted as he sat down.

“Hey Clay. Where’s Tony?”

“He had to work. His dad needed him at the shop.”

“Okay, Justin is coming today, right?”

As soon as the words left my mouth, the bell above the door dinged and Justin walked in, his letterman once again around his shoulders. I missed that look on him. Jess was tucked under his arm and she smiled brightly.

“Hey guys. Make room.” He said as they sat down. Jess sat across from me as Justin sat beside me.

“Hey Jess.” I greeted her.

“Hey Olivia.” She responded, the smile on her face falling slightly. She still wasn’t fully comfortable with my friendship with Justin. Little does she know, he’s not even on my radar. We chatted a bit before Marie came to take our order. Since we wait for our whole group to arrive before we order our shakes, we settled on an order of fries while we waited.

A while after we got our fries and talked amongst ourselves, the last two of our little group showed up.

“Scooch over Justin, my turn to sit with Livy.” Zach joked, pushing Justin aside. Alex laughed behind him. After some rearranging, we were all seated comfortably in the small, yet somehow accommodating booth. I was sandwiched between Justin and Zach. Marie came over again and took our orders. As usual, Clay and Justin got chocolate, Jess got strawberry, Alex got peanut butter cup, Zach got chocolate strawberry. When it was my turn to order, I took Monty’s advice and ordered vanilla. My friends looked at me like I had sprung another head or something. Marie furrowed her brow at me but wrote it down when I nodded at her. We also ordered another fries to snack on.

“Vanilla? What about your usual chocolate orange?” Alex asked.

“Decided to try something different.” I shrugged.

“Okay Olivia. But if you don’t like it, you still have to drink it.” Justin told me.

“Sure thing Dad.” I teased with a roll of my eyes. The group laughed along with us and my phone buzzed. Deciding to be polite and not check my phone at the table, I ignored it. After we had gotten our milkshakes and fries, we chatted idly for a while until my phone buzzed again. And then again.

“Someone’s popular.” Clay said. I chuckled as I looked at my phone. If someone is texting me that fast in succession, it could be important. I blushed as I saw that it was a couple of random texts from Monty, about something he was watching on tv. Hiding my phone from my friend’s view I typed a quick reply, I’m with my friends. I’ll talk to you in a while. Love you.

When I looked up, my friends were smirking at me. “What?” I asked, “Is there something on my face?”

“Yeah. Red splotches.” Clay said plainly.

I threw a fry at him and he looked affronted. I threw another one and he caught it in his mouth. Changing the subject, I asked him, “so what’s going on in the Clay hole?”

“Ah, you know, Justin has years of annoying brother stuff to catch up on. So that basically.”

“Hey, I only do it because I love you. You know that.”

“Mhmm, I know. That’s why you leave lasagna from three days ago on the counter in our room.”

Justin merely shrugged and stuck his fry in his shake.

“Dude, that’s gross. Also, don’t leave food out. That’s also gross.” I chided.

“It’s delicious Liv. And yes Mom.”

“I’m sure Lainie feels the same way, yes.”

He threw a fry at me and I caught it in my mouth triumphantly. My phone buzzed a few more times and I ignored them. A few minutes later, it buzzed again, and I took a quick peek. Can’t wait till I get you alone and we can discuss exactly why vanilla is only good as an ice cream flavour. One text read. Another read, I’m only half sorry about that. Mostly because you know it’s true. I felt my face heat again before a smile spread across my face as I read another text, But really. I can’t wait to see you soon beautiful. I didn’t answer him and instead, locked my phone again. Looking up, my friends were once again staring at me. I took a long sip of my milkshake in lieu of responding. This isn’t actually all that bad…. “Vanilla shake, more smiling, running off as soon as school is done.” Alex mused.

“She gets more than one drink at Monet’s in the morning too.” Zach muttered.

“Changed our tutoring to lunch. A lot more texts when we are together.” Justin added.

“What’s his name?” Jess asked.

I took another sip before answering, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Right. And so if there’s nothing, explain why you don’t pull your hair up as often anymore.” Clay implored. Maybe he’s not as oblivious as we all thought.

“Guys, it’s nothing. My cousin is coming into town and my mom just wanted to make sure everything was in order.”

“Livy. Your mom has never texted you that much. And your cousin doesn’t make you smile. I believe there was a story of the time you cut the heads off of her barbies for pushing you in the mud.”

“She ruined my favourite shirt Zach. She had it coming.”

“I don’t deny she did. But you can’t expect us to believe that there is no one. You’re different. Who is he?”

I paused before pulling my hair back into a low ponytail. There was a small hickey just under my ear. “No… Olivia. No.” Justin muttered when he saw it.

“What?” Clay and Alex asked together.

I took a very long sip of my shake and took a deep breath before responding, “Yes Justin.”

“No. I refuse to believe it.”

“What? Who are you talking about?” Zach asked, not seeing the man’s mark on me.

“I-it’s Monty….” I stuttered quietly. There was a pregnant pause before Jess burst out laughing.

“That… that’s funny. There’s no way he would go for a girl like you.” She said. That’s only slightly rude. I made no sound of defence or any attempt to answer. “Wait. Seriously?” She continued, her eyes darting around the table. I simply gave a small nod. Again, it was quiet while my friends digested the information they were just given. Their faces had all fallen.

“Monty? Honestly Olivia?” Alex stated but I could tell he intended it to be a question.

“Yeah.”

“He’s a dick.” Clay said.

“He’s violent as shit.” Zach added.

“He’s not very smart.” Jess muttered.

“He’s mean Liv. I thought you were smarter than that.” Justin chided.

The group’s list of reasons why he is all wrong for me went on and on until I couldn’t stand to listen to their bullshit anymore. “Okay. I understand you are mad. That is fine. What is not fine, is you sitting here and talking shit about the man that I love.”

“You love him?” Clay asked, dumbfounded.

“Yes. I do. And he loves me.”

Jess huffed out a laugh, “please Olivia. Montgomery wouldn’t know love if it bit him in the ass. He is incapable of feeling it.” That’s it.

“Fuck you.” I said plainly to her. She stared at me her mouth open in shock.

“Olivia!” Justin gasped.

“No Justin. Listen to me. You are all being ridiculous. I know you have this idea of what Montgomery is like. He has a temper, yes. He has shitty coping mechanisms. He uses violence to feel something he can’t express verbally. It’s not healthy and he knows that. We are working on it. And before any of you ask, no. I do not think he would ever hurt me. Oh and since you all seem to think he’s an idiot, he isn’t. He is actually very smart. I don’t deny that he has issues. But don’t act like none of you have issues. Clay, you have this idea where any information that doesn’t fit what you think a person is like, must be wrong. You’re idealistic in a way that is not only reckless but makes you look like a dumbass. Justin, you’re an addict. I know you’re in recovery and it’s hard sometimes, but I also know that you understand the adage of ‘once an addict, always an addict’. Zach, you’re a pushover. You want to please everyone. Unless it doesn’t suit you. Then you are an ass to everyone because you want to keep your butt clean. Don’t act like me dating Monty and not telling you is any different than what you did to Hannah after that summer. Alex, I don’t think I need to explain your issues. And you Jessica, you were fucking Justin while you were dating Alex. And you’re jealous that Justin and I are friends. So, don’t fucking sit here and act like you are any less fucked up than he is. Just because he deals with it in a way you wouldn’t, doesn’t make him a bad person. I don’t need to sit here, and fucking justify my relationship to any of you.”

My friends sat in shock at my outburst. I could feel the blood rushing in my head as I took a breath. “You really feel that way?” Zach asked.

“Yes.” I said bluntly.

“Well in that case,” Alex started.

“Don’t make me choose.” I told them.

“Why not?” Clay demanded.

“Well for one thing, its fucking childish. And for another thing, you won’t like my choice.”

They were silent in response. That’s my answer then. As I grabbed my bag, Zach stood up to let me out of the booth. I took one last look at my friends before putting cash to cover my drink and portion of the fries on the table and turning to walk away. I texted Monty when I got in the car, can you come over please? I need you.

He replied almost immediately, give me ten minutes. I’ll be right there Liv.

I got to my house a few minutes later and got myself a cup of water before going upstairs to reapply my perfume. I caught sight of a few pictures of the group of us on my shelf, the seven of us including Tony at one formal or another, the six of us goofing off in the park, Justin and I after he got back from rehab. Fucking best friends my ass. Before I could stop myself, I gathered the photos in my arms and took them downstairs. Clearing a space in my living room and moving the area rug, I snapped. I threw the pictures one by one to the ground, the glass shattering or cracking and the frames breaking at the impact. When I went to throw another one, my front door opened. I heard Monty’s voice in the distance, “Olivia?” He walked over to me, being careful of the glass littering the hardwood. I felt his arms wrap around me, “hey hey. It’s okay. You’re okay.” I felt myself slump into his strong arms as tears filled my eyes. Taking the picture from my hand, he placed it on the couch. He held me tightly and walked me to the couch and pulled me into his lap, “shhhh. It’s okay. Everything is okay. Just breathe, I’m right here.” He soothed.

Once my crying subsided, I was able to find my voice again, “I t-told them about you.”

“Okay.”

“A-and they… they.” I hiccupped. I felt his arms tense around me.

“What did they do Liv?”

“They were horrible. They hate me Monty. They made me choose.”  

“They what?” His anger was evident in his tone.

“They made me choose. It was them or you. And I couldn’t… I couldn’t choose them if that’s how they were going to act like that when I fall in love with someone.”

He kissed the top of my head and held me until I was calm enough to stand. “You go change. I’ll go get the broom and we can clean this up, what do you say?”

“Mkay.” I said, numbly. By the time I had come back down, the pictures were gone, and he was in the process of sweeping up the mess. I went to grab the hand vacuum and cleaned up the microscopic bits the broom missed. Once the living room was back in order, Monty queued up my favourite movie and we cuddled on the couch. Definitely made the right choice. I’ll worry about the fallout on Monday.

It was a bright and sunny day in Boston. It was a nice day for a park day, as Chris liked to call it. He watched as young children ran around the playground, smiling in content at where his life was at the moment. 

“Daddy!” He heard a small voice yell, he quickly turned to where he heard the voice. He quickly smiled as his eyes landed on you. 

“There she is!” He said as you walked over to him, arms crossed, a pout forming on your face, “what’s wrong?” 

You looked over to some older kids who were riding bikes, without helmets or knee pads, “why do I have to wear a helmet or knee pad and they don’t?” 

Chris looked over to the kids you were looking at. He sighed and bent down to your level, “they should be wearing them,” he said softly as he began to check if your riding gear was on correctly. “The helmet and knee pad is for your safety, Y/N.” You still had a pout, you were only six years old. You didn’t quite understand why everything worked the way it did. “Come on, Kiddo,” your dad said as he grabbed your bike. 

You sighed as you walked over to your bike, “maybe we should keep the training wheels on for another week?” you suggested. 

Your dad chuckled, “you’ve been begging me to take them off for the past two weeks.” You felt the bike wobble as you tried to balance it, “don’t worry, I won’t let go,” your dad reassured as he placed his hand behind the seat giving it some balance. You nod, “Alright, now start peddling,” you began to peddle, trying your best to keep the bike straight, “you’re doing great!” Chris said with a smile, something about the moment was bittersweet to him. The fact that you were growing up so fast, taking off the little girl, training wheels and taking a leap too big girl things. He sighed to himself, letting go of the seat and slowing down behind you, hoping you wouldn’t notice. 

You were doing well without him for a few seconds, that was until you looked back and saw that he wasn’t there. You quickly lost balance and fell to the ground, “shit!” Chris muttered to himself as he raced towards you. 

Tears formed in your eyes, your shin was stinging from the scrap you managed to get from the fall, “you said you wouldn’t let go!” you yelled. 

Chris sighed as looked over the scrap, “I know, I know,” he said softly. “I’m sorry,” he whispered as he picked you up, carrying you with one arm while pushing the bike with the other. He set you in the back of the truck bed, before going to get the first aid kit from inside of the truck. 

“Why did you let go?” you asked as you wiped away your tears. 

He already felt bad for letting go, but you were doing so well, he just thought it was the right time, “you were doing good without me for a few seconds,” he began to say as he wiped the scrape with an alcohol wipe, causing you to hiss in pain, “sorry,” he mumbled. 

“You didn’t even notice I had let go until you looked back…” he let out a dry chuckle, “One day when you’re older, you’re going to be living life and then you’ll back and you’ll see that I’ve let go. That I’ve let you do your own thing and you might fall and get hurt or you might keep going. The thing is,” He placed Neosporin on your scrape, “it’s all about how you get back up in life, that’s what matters.” He held out two bandaids, an Iron Man bandaid and Captain America bandaid, you pointed towards the Captain America bandaid causing your dad to smile. “What also matters is that you know, if you ever look back in life, that you will always have your me and your mom there to help you through whatever challenges you may go through.” 

You watched as he placed the bandaid on your scrape, “What if I don’t want you to let go?” 

Chris smiled, “when you’re older, I doubt you’ll want me to hold on. You’re going to be begging me to let go.” He sighed at the thought, “ready to get back on that bike?”

“But what if I’m not ready when you do let go?” You didn’t quite understand what your dad was talking about, but you knew, one day you would. 

“Trust me, you’re ready,” he said softly, you remained quiet, staring at the Captain America bandaid that was on your leg. “Do you trust me?” You nod, “Then let’s get back on that bike.” 

You sighed as your dad helped you off the truck, “But what if-” 

“No what if’s,” he said sternly, “you can do this, Y/N, you just need to stop overthinking it and believe in yourself.” 

You groaned as you got back on the wipe, “don’t let go until I say so?” Chris was about to protest, “please?” 

He sighed, “Alright, hon.” 

“Promise?” you asked as you stuck out your pinky finger, “Pinky promise?” 

He chuckled, connecting his pinky with yours, “I pinky promise.” You smiled, feeling more at ease with the promise, “now, come on!” He said as he placed his hand on the back of the seat once again. “Peddle,” he guided you down the sidewalk, you were beginning to pick up your speed. 

“Let go!” You said with confidence.

“Are you sure?” 

“Let go!!” Chris let go of the seat, he watched as you peddled your way around the playground without his help. Tears of joy filled his eyes at the sight, “that’s my girl!” He cheered. You were growing up and soon enough he was going to have to make that hard decision and let go and let you learn the hardships of life. But for now, he was trying his best to prepare you for whatever life had in store for all of you.
