Warriors: Changing Skies #1 - The Elders' Quest

The launch of a brand-new arc in Erin Hunter’s #1 bestselling Warriors series find the Clans navigating an ominous prophecy that foreshadows the destruction of the Moonpool, and the end of the Cats' connection to StarClan.

As Leafbare approaches, a new danger threatens the Clans. Twoleg construction has encroached on Clan territory, poisoning the stream and making prey especially scarce for SkyClan. Hey Warrior Cats fandom, since my drawing of Moonpaw got the most traction out of anything I have ever posted I feel compelled to write this.

If any of you even think of making "jokes" or """"commentary"""" on the fact that Moonpaw is inbred and therefore, realistically, has a chance of inherenting some serious disabilities, please get the fuck out of my blog.

The Elder's Quest Preview thoughts

Spoilers below!!

● Why don't they format the allegiances by age I was jumpscared by Bristleclaw so high up

● Why does Rapidsplash have her evil brother's prefix as her suffix? Why did they do that?? Poor girl

● Why is Floatshimmer a mom she was just a newborn baby?

● Stretchkit...I want them to win me over on this bad name with the best suffix imaginable. Stretchblossom, Stretchsky, Stretchcall...Stretchkit just sounds so odd.

● Birchfeather is kinda weird, I was hoping for Birchflower. Maybe it will grow on me.

● Needleclaw had babies :(

● Leafcurl is a cute name, please Leafcurl pov later on

● Ugh Clear Sky

● Tawnypelt's intro chapter reminded me why I used to dislike her. I was on Spireclaw's side the entire time I was reading...why are we doing this "the young cats don't listen to me and are so rude and disrespectful" again. Poolkit was cute though, I like her.

● I liked Leafstar's chapter. It's nice to see her acting like SkyClan's Destiny Leafstar, I missed her. Her plot seems the most interesting to me.

● The fear I felt when I thought we were getting another forced medic apprentice plotline. I still think it will happen later in the book though.

● Moonpaw's chapter has me worried that her arc could go down an ableist path. The treatment of Splashtail seeing Curlfeather in Star was already really uncomfortable for me to read and the dynamic in Moonpaw's head feels like it could echo that if the voice starts to influence her towards doing bad things. I have a feeling the voice is her dead sister but please no come on. Chimerism doesn't work like that, don't spread misinformation.

moonpaw fans i am so sorry but im sick of her already. ok, no, let me rephrase that, im sick of the arc i know shes going to be forced onto already. moonpaw as a character is cute, i like her, i cannot stand the Ominous Haunting Voice because i swear to god we've had this plotline already like two arcs ago. i wouldn't mind another haunting if it wasnt treated like a ~voice~, like, if Moonpaw was watched over by a starclan ancestor who could only appear in reflections bc of the moonpool, i'd like that, it'd be great, but no, its another ominous voice who has a 50% chance of being from the dark forest, and a 50% chance of being a really fucked up DID "representation"

For some postivity, though, i love the fact she doesnt pronounce apprentice correctly. "appren'ice" is so cute i hope they keep that. i like that she isnt gonna be a medicine cat, shoutout to Jayfeather for being like wtf who told you you belong in here go be a warrior.

in terms of the rest of the chapters we got, i like that the shadowclan elders are actually telling historical stories of the Great Journey (i've missed the past like three arcs idk if they did that before), im a big fan of Starlingpaw and Robinpaw their so silly, very happy to see Mosspelt's still kicking in the Riverclan Allegiances, shes ancient meemaw. also! peepaw breezepelt! hes officially a grandpa!
