23, They/them. I stopped reading the books after Thunder Rising and thought that was the end of it but I went from 'occasionally clicking in on the wiki to see how wild it's gotten' to 'accidentally got invested again' so we're back but gleaning shit off the wiki instead of reading the books lol. not a furry or an rp blog

I fucking can't with the ableism in this fandom. I made a post in a FB group about cats who died/became Elders before they got to mentor an apprentice and one of the cats I mentioned was Brightheart, and this is the response I got (I'm the turquoise one, that's why I didn't censor out my first name). I see shit like this all the time on Facebook and Reddit and it makes my blood boil. Like, I'm not vision-impaired so I could be out of line in this, but acting like Brightheart's skills are somehow "lesser" and only good for training other "lesser" blind cats is just. Insane. Barring the fact that disabled people are ABSOLUTELY capable people, even if Brightheart's disability would prevent her from being a mentor in real life, it's a fictional series. It's the same thing when I see people saying they don't like Briarlight because her surviving as long as she did was "unrealistic" for cats living in the wild. First of all, Briar was doing just fine, but the existence of Medicine Cats essentially gives the Clans vet care. Not to mention the Clans are a community, and communities are supposed to take care of each other, which they do. But also even if all of this was untrue in real life, did you forget that this book series has cats with superpowers? Organized religion and social structures? An entire arc where they literally battle with HELL?? If your line for accuracy is drawn at a disabled cat mentoring a nondisabled cat or a paralyzed cat living for years after her accident because she's getting the care she needed, then you need to re evaluate why you have problems with this.
I don't know if this is coherent, and if I've said anything out of line or rude please let me know, but the treatment of cats with disabilities just bothers me so much and I needed to say it.

Update: they're adults now, Scratch is a Mediator and Earth is a warrior
(River because Rio literally means "River" and Earth bc she's the original Green Witch, Scratch bc Agatha's son is Nicholas Scratch, and Blossom bc Rio canonically can make flowers appear in her hand)
I was playing some ClanGen today and got this cat:
So naturally I had to name her kits appropriately:
#i have exactly 3 personality traits:#warrior cats#rio vidal#bucky barnes#and that's it#i need to name a cat whitewolf or something for Bucky now

My speculations for the parents of the mystery apprentices in the changing skies preview (ranked from most to least likely imo).
Redpaw and Sprucepaw
PounceWhorl. Their shared scene together in Star gave me suspicions the Erins might be setting them up as a couple. Genetically (warrior cats fantasy genetics I mean) it would work out reasonably well, silver and white can come from both Whorl and Pounce (Whorl himself and Ivypool), and the red would come from both of them as well (Rowanclaw and possibly Yarrowleaf ). This is the one I definitely most hope is the case.
TigerDove. Sprucepaw looks like Ivypool and Redpaw looks like Rowanclaw. The drawback here is obviously how close in age Birchfeather is to them, although not by any means impossible at all, Goldenflower had one litter after another in about the same space of time.
FringeSpire. It would be likely they had kits but it would also be unlikely imo that Fringewhisker would be allowed to mentor her own child, although again not impossible, as this has happened in the past. Also I’m not sure how well genetically it all works out.
SnowScorch. Why not let them have 11 children lol.
FlaxFlower. Random ship I pulled out of air just to pad out the amount of couples that would be somewhat genetically reasonable.
LightBlaze. Technically possible although poor Lightleap if true. The litter Lightleap currently has looks very similar.
Silkypaw and Fluffpaw
These guys are trickier, we have had no WindClan POV since Crowfeather’s Trial so lord knows what’s happening in there, also Silkypaw has long hair while Fluffpaw’s seems to be semi long. No one alive in WindClan is described as having long hair.
SedgeEmber. Colour wise it seems to work out.
HeatherBreeze. It would be cute for them to get a pair of sons.
Larkwing x ????. We still don’t know her mate lol. Technically possible so soon after Stripe and Brook but not ideal. If I had to guess a mate then maybe Leaftail??

One thing I find interesting about Moonpaw that doesn't seem to be related to her twin is she's extremely wise and intuitive for a 6 moon old apprentice.
She thinks "It must be special for her, to be chosen as a mentor, when she was born a ShadowClan cat. It shows how much Squirrelstar trusts her." When she's apprenticed to Sunbeam
She figures this out having zero experience with cross-clan drama, just through intuition. This is the type of thing I'd expect from and adult POV character.
Or when she is taken to the medicine den: "Now she suddenly realized that she was facing two of the most powerful cats in the Clan—more powerful, maybe, than the Clan leader herself. These were cats who spoke regularly with the spirits of their warrior ancestors, and had even set paw in StarClan’s hunting grounds. Almost overwhelmed, she ducked her head respectfully and stared at her paws."
This I just think is cute. Most kits are like "HI ALDERHEART HI JAYFEATHER" *knocks over the entire herb storage* but Moonkit is very aware of how important and powerful medicine cats are. Despite only been 6 moons old and not even really meeting them before this.
I hope this character trait doesn't get lost as the arc goes on.

Warriors is always great because it always makes it clear that this is a series where realism goes out the window. Cat afterlives exist and they regularly talk to them. Cats get powers. Cats somehow are described with perfect color vision. Bright Stream’s unborn kits show up in StarClan fully able to talk. There’s an entire arc about cat possession. And yet every single time something cool is brought up the fandom has to whine about how “unrealistic” it is as if this isn’t warrior cats
