And just a bit further analysis and commentation because sweet 1600 is my favourite line ever and omg these dolls.
From right to left cause I needed to talk about the ugly elephant in the room.
Cupid
I cannot believe how hard they flopped on the possible queen of the century especially when all of the fanarts of her in her literal corny bloomers were full of promise. Her colour scheme is all over the place but that teal is sooo not needed. That headband was bad but the fast its unpainted and sat in such a key focal point area is horrific. That dress reminds of the disaster that was howliday cleo but somehow nowhere near as ugly. She is so apple white coded (thronecoming fr) unnecessarily I thought it was bad enough when we got that blondie with apples face that no one in the world owns. The gradient on her legs, I understand why they had to change it from the original with the white symbols on top but it dosen't work and i'm praying it looks alright when the dolls arrive. Those platform shoes are actually kinda nice just unsure about that gold maybe if they were airbrushed they would look nicer. The blue around cupids eyes make her look dead and so does her heart earrings which from a distance to me look like dead beating hearts. That black bow bothers me so much why is it right there its so not needed and ruins everything the most and the money for that could of been used for the headband!
Frankie
They did them so bad with that undetailed leg, such a letdown after monster ball in particular. I think that pink on the balloon and leg detracts and is a bit garish in contrast, I wish they chose something more subtle and fitting if they are so insistent on pink. That cage is so darling charming I am def giving it to her. Apart from the blush being not the nicest they are a really nice frank doll.
Draculaura
Where do I even begin if you haven't my other first ever post I am so desperate to own her I never saw this coming at all. Asides from what I already wrote the fabric of her under skirt is to die for and every disney princess girls dream. I am desperate to the back of her shoes but her eye makeup is what a drac fierce rockers could be and her lips are I think would of been better a solid colour than the gradient they are but its no biggie. Her heart handle brella is sooo cute for lala please do it again mattel best idea ever. Those gloves are so madeline hatter way to wonderland omg I am very nostalgic to that well done mattel. That box is so shade to howliday cleo because I was going to get her box but this is it but properly good. Her bodice and earrings are just pure amazingness but her hair the silhouette and curve and the black highlights at the top are totally like skulltimate secrets 3 but without that darn treated poly (another doll I now don't need) but I hope it looks just as good in box cause just wow. Lastly, her hat is so adorbs and reminds me of a call back to dawn of the dances famous 3 pack exclusive drac who I still don't own cause being a european doll collector can suck at times.
Cleo
Finally, the diva herself whilst I am never a big fan of cleo especially G3 with her washed out eyes and blue palette this might be her best look yet. Her hair is what monster ball should of been to be honest her whole look is what it should of been. I swear we have had snakes on the top of shoes before from mh but maybe it was just ghouls alive clawdeens cat shoes im thinking of but they are still nice either way but not mindblowing like that laura. Her skirt cage is very Marie Antoinette which is so fitting but I'm not the keenest on the shape it gives her dress and the tassles that dangle from it that should of been fabric if needed. I am probably just going to get her for her hair cause thats thebonly thing I am really bothered about.
Overall
All of these are similar to their originals yet add a new delicious twist except for cupid she's rotten to her core im afraid. The spine balloons and now im just praying the packaging and eyeshadow is impeccable. Would love to do a review of these and find all the extra IRL hidden deets. Totally buying em all and drac as soon as I possible can without combusting.
just had to yap as these are some of the best dolls ever and my excitment was off the chart.

Doom WADs’ Roulette (2009): Harmony
Well… I finished Black Mesa sooner than I expected. So much for my indefinite break from reviewing. Looks like I need to play more Doom, otherwise I will pass out by the sheer awesomeness of Hades II.
And while I am playing through both Happy Time Circus II AND NewDoom Community Project II bit by bit to not lose my marbles, nor bore myself to death, why not take a look at another WAD that became an official add-on for the Unity port.
Although, I’m not really quite fond of it, to be honest.
G3: Harmony
Main author(s): Thomas van der Velden
Release date: November 1st, 2009 (original version)
Version(s) played: Compatible
Required port compatibility: ZDoom (original)/limit-removing (compatible)
Levels: 11
Remember Thomas van der Velden? He made Revolution, one of the better MegaWADs of the early 2000s; he also helped with the first and third Community Chests. And now, we are looking at another project oh his Harmony. A homage to the Doom clones of the mid-to-late 1990s. With its plot talking about northern and southern countries of Earth nuking each other out, all men turning into humanoid/non-humanoid mutants, and you trying to save your buddy who has been kidnapped by mutants.
As I mentioned earlier, this WAD became one of the official add-ons to the Unity port of the classic games. I played it before (and by that I mean the original version), and from what I remember, I liked how it looks but hated the music and overabundance of hitscanners (that feel like they got needlessly buffed). Now the question for today is will my opinion change? Will I like or dislike it more, or don’t feel that much different towards this WAD?
There is only one way to find out.
Playing it on the compatible version (I’ll explain why later).
Starting, as always, with a visual side of the WAD, Harmony looks great. The author went nuts with it, showing a lot of human locations (industrial or rural) along with other natural areas (covered in toxic filth or not). Many of them have a lot of details as well.
What I really respect from this WAD, is, like the original Doom games, it uses digitalized clay models. If that’s not impressive to you, then I don’t know what is.
I wish I could say the same about the music. For this review, I played the WAD with the MIDI pack (that is integrated into the compatible version), but I remember playing without it. Long story short – it’s nothing but three tracks of loud cacophony. I don’t know what the hell the author heard in these tracks, but all I heard was cacophony, with #10 being the least painful, and #6 being the most painful.
But at least the WAD doesn’t feel like it wastes your time. Most of the time you rarely backtrack (or at least you don’t use the same route), and you can clearly see where to go and what to do next. It also really helps that the keys are usually close to their dedicated doors, and the maps loop you around in such a way that you can get there easily.
There are also moments where you will encounter some trip mines. These are thankfully destructible.
Now, aside from the original music, you might think that Harmony sounds great. And sometimes I think about it too. But then I start fighting the enemies and I am reminded why I am not that fond of this WAD.
Here is the main problem with Harmony – the difficulty feels wack. Not due to the projectile-firing enemies (since there are some interesting ideas like the entire Weapons Factory), but due to the hitscanners. Because making hitscanners deal more damage, making Hoovy-replacements feel more like damage sponges, and adding some annoying encounters with next-to-no cover is such a great idea, am I right?!
…
Nope-
I don’t really think it’s worth talking about new enemies and weapons since they basically are the replacement to the original Doom enemies and weapons but with some of their parts changed, like some mutants dropping from vents, or centaurs shooting two grenades instead of three rockets.
I can only add that in the original version, Neutron Gun had unlimited ammo and you could chuck grenades on your own without Grenade Launcher.
And as for bugs, I tend to notice some of the trip mines not exploding; there was a hole in there, but no explosion, so I had to shoot a hole again to trigger it.
And to finally answer the question of why did I play the compatible version over the original one is because the Neutron Gun stopped working there (at least on GZDoom 4.11.3 since it worked fine in one of the previous versions I used to play the WAD for the first time). I could only chuck grenades at enemies and considering that I would be forced to somehow evade these wankers, I checked quickly the other version, and lo and behold, the gun worked without any problems.
And I guess that’s all I have to say about Harmony. It’s yet another one of those WADs that have one to two things being questionable at best while the rest of it is great. I do appreciate it more than during my blind playthrough due to the author’s dedication to it (at least one concept art dates back to 2004), but still, I don’t think I would like to try it again (at least for a long time). I think there are better WADs than this one.
Still, when the time will come, I’ll check MAP12 and 13 from 2022 Unity version along with the extra MAP15 from the 2023 compatible version.
And as for the 2009 roster of WADs, it looks like we have a trip to Doom I with the next WAD.
I’ll see you then.

Kamen Rider Thunderbirds Chapter 3 (Bit 5 End)
Prologue, Bit 1, Bit 2 Updated, Bit 3, Bit 4
Finaaaly! I finished Chapter 3! :D
Big thank you for @janetm74 for the beta read, thank you @myladykayo for helping me through the story. Tagging @willow-salix, @katblu42, @gumnut-logic and @dreamycloud)
So let’s end this chapter, right? :)

“So you are saying that you’ve been attacked by some unknown monsters?” Jeff asked, his fingers gripping the paper. The bandaged up boys nodded.
“Yeah. And we believed it was a set up." Virgil pointed out.
"It seemed like deliberate sabotage by those… things, so we came in and fell into their trap." Scott theorized. He continued explaining: in fact, the way the fires started was suspicious, the flames appeared in random parts of the building, according to the recent investigations. And according to the testimonies of the rescuees who were trapped underground, the humanoid fire-monsters appeared out of nowhere and they are the ones who started the whole fires, and then… they were simply waiting. The field commander finished that the poor fellas acted as bait for the monsters to finish him and his brothers off.
"Long story short: they were after our heads apparently." Gordon concluded.
Their father had a look of extreme concern. To think those threats with impossible yet fantastic power to bring down a building were after his sons was very alarming and pose a threat to their lives and security. Here he thought that time where they had to save the world from a mind-controlling alien sphere was a close call!
"Thank heavens the Kamen Riders came and saved us!" Alan chirped, his ocean eyes sparkled like stars with memories.
"Yes. You guys are very lucky. And those rescuees as well." Agreed Jeff, "However, we don’t know if we could trust those bug-eyed warriors.”
“But dad! They saved us!” Argued the youngster, “They saved us from these creatures! I am pretty sure they are our allies! Friends even!”
"Alan! We don't even know who they are!" Pointed out Gordon.
The young blonde crossed his arms and gave the most dramatic pout. Jeff sighed, gently shaking his head with a slight sympathetic smile, “They may be on our side now, but we still don’t know what their intentions are. Especially when they got those… other-worldly powers. So take their alliance with caution.” he said sternly.
The brothers nodded in agreement, including Alan who simply cocked his head to the side. They did tell John about the whole thing, in which the middle brother had mixed feelings. Concerned, relieved and interested. But mostly worried.
After the debrief, the atmosphere was a lingering silent worry.
“Hey kiddo, don’t be upset.” Gordon smiled optimistically.
“You sure?” Huffed his youngest brother.
“Yeah. As much as I am suspicious about them, I am also curious.” his innocent smile turned into a cheeky smirk.
Alan’s grumpy face slowly transformed into that of an excited gremlin that the redhead knew and loved, “Alright! How about we go talk to Brains? See what he thinks of this rescue.”
Gordon grinned, “Right behind ya, Sprout!”
And soon enough, the terrible two vanished through the door of the lounge, their excited feet echoed through the halls.
“What do you think of the Kamen Riders, Scott?” asked Virgil, placing a gentle hand on his older brother’s shoulder.
Scott shrugged, “I don’t know.” He was mostly worried about those monsters. Those… things. What are they after? Why do they want International Rescue dead? Of course it was only one time, but what if they do it again? He was beginning to feel dread. Being possessed by an alien was bad enough, but almost getting burned alive by monstrous animal-headed gladiators with powers to control fire was out of the question!
“You know, I do have a hunch that our bug-eyed acquaintances are on our side.” admitted Virgil, “But, I also have a feeling that we’ll meet them again, considering the circumstances.”
Scott looked back at his brother. Sky blue meets earthly brown. There was a silent conversation. An understanding. And then a nod from the eldest brother. They sat there in compassionate silence.
The quiet must’ve been killing his brother, because all of the sudden the mechanic asked, “Say, would you like to play the piano again?”
“Why’s that?” Scott raised a brow.
“My fingers are sore from fixing the Mole in a rush back there.” Virgil smiled with a little embarrassment, as he revealed his bandaged hands.
Scott gently tapped his brother’s shoulder with a chuckle. He got up from the couch and walked over to Virgil’s beloved white piano. He sat on the stool once more, opened the lid and stretched his fingers, “What should I play?”
“Anything, I don’t mind.” His musical brother shrugged, standing beside him.
As Scott thought which song to play, his mind drifted back to the moment when he looked into the eyes of the golden Rider. It seemed to him that there was something warm behind those bug-eyes… something human. Scott wondered if there's a sensitive soul behind that mask.
Maybe it was just in his mind, maybe it was not true, but it made him relax. Pressing the keys, he began playing a familiar, jazzy beat as he remembered that moment. After a few repeats of the rhyme, he went to the main part of the song.
“Ah, my favorite! Take Five!" Jeff exclaimed, "Just like you guys.” he chuckled.
Scott smiled at his father as a response. There were some remnants of his stress, but it didn't bother him as much as he was in the morning. Jeff gave him a relieved nod before continuing doing paperwork, quietly humming and tapping his foot to the beat. Virgil smiled widely at his brother before humming as well and snapping his fingers along with the melody of the immortal piece of Paul Desmond.
Scott jumped into improvising like he was here to woo the girls at a party. As he was playing, he thought back of their victory. And his tension melted away. Outside the villa, the soothing music echoed through the beautiful nature of the island and into the night sky.

The moon shone in the night sky and the cold was a constant companion. The sounds of distant cars driving through the streets could be heard from the top of the skyscrapers. On one of them stood four figures, taking their time enjoying the view from above.
The Kamen Riders were resting after the heated fight. Gills was leaning on a wall next to the entrance, between his legs lay his loyal dog. G3-X was finishing writing a report of the fight on his custom laptop. Kuuga was laying on top of the entrance, admiring the stars. And Agito was standing near the railing, staring into the lights of the city.
"Oi, Agito!" called Kuuga all of a sudden. The golden Rider turned to his best friend.
"Nando(What is it)?" asked Agito.
"Why wouldn’t you come up here and watch the stars?” suggested the red Rider, "It's beautiful up there."
"How can you see stars from here?" objected G3-X, "Ya can't see Shiitake with all those slagging city lights!"
"They can see them through their visors," scoffed Gills, making the robocop Rider whistle a sound of realization before turning back to his computer.
Raider looked up and tilted his head as if trying to see them, but after a few moments he gave up as he put his canine head back to the ground.
Agito had taken a moment to stare at the city, then moved towards the entrance, climbed and sat next to Kuuga.
"Not too cold buddy?” the red Rider asked, only to receive a shake of the head from his golden companion. The two took a moment to appreciate the stars in the cold night sky. Few stars faintly glowed in the dark sky.
"Man, can't believe we just met with International Rescue in person!" excitedly said Kuuga, "I gotta say, they are quite tough guys, ne? Especially Noodle, he looks quite young!"
"Noodle?" asked the golden rider in confusion.
"The blond kid! The one I saved from falling into a ravine and returned the gun to?" Kuuga sensed Agito raising an eyebrow that cannot be seen from the cover of his mask. "We should give them nicknames. To… you know, to know who's who we're talking about?" He explained, shrugging.
A sparkle of mirth could be faintly seen behind the faceted eyes of his friend, a warm smile could be felt radiating from his breath. "Sure...But why the blond kid 'Noodle'?"
"Because his blonde hair reminded me of noodles. And to be honest, 'Noodle' sounds kawaii~! Don’t you think he looks kawaii, ne?” A big grin was radiating from behind the mask of the red Rider. Agito laughed wholeheartedly. Kuuga continued, "The auburn hair guy; I think we'll call him 'Kuma'! He looks so serious, strong and tough, like a bear! Remind me of someone…"
The golden Rider laughed again as he nodded. "So um… shall we call the leader 'Sky Eyes'?"
Kuuga rubbed his silver chin for a bit, "Hmm…the one who pilots that big-hyper-speedy-rocket-jet thingy? Why's that?" he asked.
"Because… his eyes reminded me of the sky...” The red Rider saw the sparkling human eyes behind Agito’s red bug-like lens. Kuuga nodded, agreeing that the name was well suited for the blue sashed commander.
"What about the redhead guy? What should we call him?" asked G3-X as he looked up at the two Riders, seemingly curious.
"Clownfish..." Gills dropped the answer. There was an awkward pause. "He smelled fishy..." He deadpanned. Everyone laughed, acknowledging his typical 'I don't care, deal with it' attitude as they accepted his answer.
"Noodle, Kuma, Sky Eyes and Clownfish. Sounds good for our mystery gang of rescuers!" Kuuga clapped and rubbed his hands excitingly
Agito chuckled softly before looking back at the stars once more. The more he stared at the little faint glistening lights, the more the made him think of sky… sky eyes… the man whose eyes were always drawn to the sky.
He felt a warm feeling as he remembered those cobalt irises. He wondered why he felt like that. He barely knows that man, let alone the fact that International Rescue seemed to keep themselves secret. Maybe he'll never know. But one thing for sure, they'll cross paths again. Because of those things...
Those kaijins… they were new. He had never seen them before. And they are as aggressive and dangerous as disasters. Agito… Yuuki sensed that whatever they were, they seemed to be after International Rescue. But for what? And why?
The answer will remain unknown, for now...

Linux Life Episode 58
Well hello folks and welcome back to my ongoing quest in the World of Linux. I admit its been a while since I pushed up an episode so I thought its time to let you know what is happening...
Well the Xeon has been repurposed at the moment as I was having far too many issues getting AMDVLK to install. So at the moment it has been reassigned as a video editing machine using Windows 10.
Reason being I am looking at doing more in the line of YouTube as its the one media I have not not really ventured into and my skills are in the Adobe Suite. So I could retrain in time but for the moment just to get a rough and ready edit going I have gone back to using what I know best.
The i7 desktop however is still a Linux running machine and has been running Namib Linux very successfully. I must admit I had never heard of them when I downloaded the distro but it was the only one I found which was a vague successor to Antergos at the time as EndeavourOS was still in the planning stages at this point.
As I have ran the EndeavourOS on the Xeon I have found it has a few issues which in time I am sure they will sort in time. However being a slightly newer entry to the market I will give them the benefit of the doubt as they are probably still trying to get their system up to an optimal position which it isn’t at the moment.
Once it has got a bit of maturity say a year or so under it’s belt I may go back to it.
So what have I been doing with Linux since we were last here. Not a lot if I am brutally honest. I’m afraid my time has been taken up with sorting out things in my life so I have not had a huge amount of time sitting at my machine.
However I did manage to Play Untitled Goose Game by House House. If you have been anywhere near YouTube in the last month you will have probably seen at least five You Tubers playing this game as it seems to be the streamers game of choice at the moment.
If you have not seen it or just don’t watch gameplay videos. You take the role of a goose whose job it is to be as disruptive and annoying as possible. You have to steal things, terrorise the locals and generally be a nuisance.
Its totally harmless fun but equally it is quite a fun game, sneaking around throwing things in the lake, honking at people. Overall although a very simple concept of a game. It proves to be a fun way to entertain yourself and it doesn’t rely on gore or violence. It’s casual fun.
While it’s never going to be a game you come back to time and time again. It is a fun game for a quick mess around and having fun. Who would have thought being an annoying goose would be so much a joy.
I did spend at least a few days trying to put Debian 8.1 on my Apple iMac G3. What a nightmare that turned out to be.
Sure the base would install fine and I could sit at a terminal all day. So yes the basic Linux terminal was installed and worked no problem.
However trying to get anything else beyond that was a bit of a nightmare. I tried several times to install KDE and Gnome using the Aptitude program.
They would install but nine times out of ten it would then break something in the main section and getting it to boot again was a nightmare.
I tried turning off certain items which were problematic and once I managed to get the damned thing to load. After much searching on the net I finally found the Xorg configuration to get X running on the G3 Indigo 400Mhz beast and sure enough I even got KDE running on screen.
Yay success. However it ran like a snail.. The machine only has 364MB of physical RAM, and only 8MB of Video RAM. Running from a 10GB Maxtor hard drive. Even opening the menu took several seconds to load. It ran like a bug in treacle.
So I closed it down to which it crashed. Then it refused to start up Linux again. Something has corrupted somewhere and I could not get back to a sign in prompt never mind back to X.
Several times I tried to get the machine running but ultimately I had to admit defeat. So yes I can run Linux on a G3 providing I never need anything graphical as the terminal level does work quite happily.
However that does make it rather limited in use.I’m sure to some out there that would be an ideal situation but for me it was inconvenient and not much fun.
So eventually after trying several different versions of Debian, Xubuntu and Adelie Linux I had to give up. Who knows in time I may go back to the G3 but it would need to be maxed to 1GB of RAM and a much larger hard drive before I will give it another go.
To be honest the G3 is probably not powerful enough to run Linux at anything beyond terminal level, but trying to do so was half of the fun. Even if it did prove ultimately fruitless.
Well that’s about it for this episode. Hopefully I should have much more to report but for now I have been having a slight dry spell regarding Linux.
However I am looking to work on a set of Linux Life videos so keep an eye out for them. As I am working on them as we speak. Something to look forward to.
If you wish to suggest anything for me to take a look at or have any feedback in general. Feel free to send me your appreciation / criticism / ideas / general complaints via email to [email protected]
OK so until next episode .... Take Care.

AskG3S #2: Mending a Broken Heart
AskG3S, a.k.a. our G3S Writer’s Roundtable, is a discussion forum and advice column gathering the wisdom of some of Tumblr’s best API LGBT writers. If you have any questions about relationships, dating, sex, coming out, family issues, or anything you would like some advice on, send an ask to the G3S Writer’s Roundtable tab on our home page. We also welcome any suggestions for discussion topics. This month on AskG3S, the topic is heartbreak.
Q: If it takes 'x' amount of weeks to heal from a broken bone, how long does it take to heal from a broken heart and conversely, how long do you think the average is to fall in love? How fast is too fast? Granted, this will vary depending on the person and situation, but can these ideas even be quantified?
A: By @ox-85,
Falling in love can never been too quick or too slow, all it can be is right for both of you. I didn’t know when I fell in love with my boyfriend, but now that I look back at the 3+ years, I can tell you that I started loving him from day one. That love grew stronger as our relationship grew closer, and that I still am falling in love with him to this day. I think the subquestion being asked is: at what point in time do you know that this is the love that will last? There’s a component to the answer that relies on the complete and open trust you have between each other. Can the both of you truthfully answer each other’s love without questioning if the other person isn’t being honest? I think there’s a clearer answer when you ask and answer with full honesty (which may be unrealistic). As we plan our future together, I am now more open to voicing my concerns and insecurities. This has helped us work through our problems and create a more loving relationship.
According to a quick google search, research has found it takes 11 weeks to mend a broken heart. That’s basically 3 months of taking the time to begin mending a broken heart. If there exists a set time for a broken heart to mend, then I think it truly depends on the depth and level of the relationship you had with the other person. Truthfully, I don’t think we ever are free of our past relationships. They remain in your subconscious, reminding you of your past mistakes and successes - allowing you to grow and mature. A broken heart never mends, rather, it becomes a pain that becomes more distant over time. Even as the one who broke my ex’s heart, I too struggled with my actions, words, and our eventual demise. Some part of me fell out of love with him early on, but I persisted because I thought we could fix things. His tears and words will forever be with me, reminding me of my own broken heart, my regrets, and how cruel I could be.
Basically, these things are both quantifiable and not quantifiable. It could be that only with time and reflection are you able to figure it all out.
By @tritaniumwhite,
I’ve fallen in love with someone I’ve met in one day. I’ve fallen in love with someone I’ve known for one month. I’ve fallen in love with someone I’ve been with for year. It depends on what you believe is “love” and what you hold dear. It is your definition and do not let anyone tell you otherwise or impose their rigid qualifications to that word. Your definition of love will grow as you explore and develop your emotional maturity. Do what you think and believe is right, but also attend to the wisdom of others because they offer a perspective that you might be missing.
It takes 6 weeks for a bone fracture to heal. It varies with age, conditions and general health, of course, but 6 weeks after my surgery, my arm was finally off its medical probation. But just because I was off the sling doesn’t mean that healing was over. In the biology of fracture healing, it actually takes many months and years before it’s good as new again, in a process called remodeling. For me, that’s akin to the healing after a heartbreak. It may take you up to 6 weeks before you feel ready again, but it could take you much longer to fully assess and process the consequences and side effects of a lost relationship. Just like your body’s ability to heal from physical trauma, the same thing is true for emotional heartache; it varies, and it’s okay to takes a few weeks to grief and it’s okay to takes longer.
By @medicasian,
A typical mid-shaft humeral fracture takes between 8 to 14 weeks to heal. What this entails is the activity of cells called osteoclasts and osteoblasts breaking down and re-building bone in a painful process that results in bone that is less sturdy than its predecessor. Depending on the way the bone is fractured – whether it is comminuted into many pieces, rotated and displaced from its attaching piece – the fracture can take longer to heal, and in some cases never heal: non-union. If you destabilize the bone too early and remove it from its cast, bone healing also gets disrupted. The body must be optimized to allow for good bone healing – and even then, there is no guarantee that the bone will return to its former glory.
Nevertheless, some people defy the confines of their physiology. Some play through the sports season with a broken bone, only to find out months to years later that something was broken in the first place. Others have severe pain that limits all activity, and take anywhere from months to long term disability away from work. Why do I elaborate so much on bones? I feel that the situation of a broken heart is parallel: unpredictable outcomes with even less objective data. Depending on how the heart is broken, some people will never heal and others never even realize that there was damage at all.
I have been in a handful of relationships, and each time that my heart was broken, the time to recovery has been different. My longest relationship, which ended with my partner’s infidelity, shattered my heart into an uncountable number of pieces. Still, to this day over two years later, I come upon pieces that I achingly stitch back together. On other occasions, I have had some relationships, which washed over me like rain water – soaked and damp for a few hours, and then soon forgotten, with the anticipation of the next sunny day. In order to come back to the question originally posed, I do not think I can give a discrete number for other people; for myself, on average, I would quote similar statistics to a broken bone: 8 to 14 weeks from standard heart break with considerable variability.
As for the question about falling in love, this is an equally challenging question to answer. What is love? If I define love as an irrational feeling that puts the needs of others over the needs of the self, I would say that it takes a long time – on the spectrum of months to years. Infatuation is quick, lust is quick, passion is quick – but the selflessness of putting someone else’s needs and thoughts above one’s own takes time to develop and incubate. It cannot be achieved quickly, even if one desires it to. Love itself lays on a spectrum, and makes it even more challenging to quantify. Speaking to my own experience, I think I have only really fallen in love once, and it was something I did not recognize until about two years into my relationship, and was something that may have been latently present for one year.
To those who look for numbers to soothe their anxieties of heart break or of falling in love too quickly, know that there are no clinical prediction tools to know what your outcome will be. There is no way to say what is too quick or too slow, but you should listen to your body and what your heart tells you. Like bone healing, heart break does take energy, mental fortitude, and nutrition. We can try to make wise choices to mitigate our risks, but when love is found, it acts irrationally with frequent ups and downs. Do not fear love or heartbreak, but embrace it and use it to grow.

Top Ten Best Kamen Rider Suits
Before I get started, I just want to clarify that this is not a top ten list of my favorite KR characters. This is purely my taste in suits. As such, prepare yourselves for some bizarre choices. And I do apologize for the lack of pictures or bold text. My mobile won’t let me make this list as fun as I would like.
10) Amazing Mighty Kuuga - Kuuga’s design is both classic and cool. There’s no doubt about that. And any one of his forms could have easily made this list; it really does depend on your personal preference. And mine unquestionably go to the Amazing Mighty form. The black on gold is awesome to look at, and the entire look gives off an intimidating vibe. And the black armor works on the black fabric to a greater degree than the other forms, I think.
9) Kamen Rider G3 - Fun Fact: G3 was my first ever exposure to the Kamen Rider world. I had just learned of the franchises existence, and I looked up the various seasons. Agito, G3’s series, caught my eye. So I started there, not knowing that the season was a sequel to the infinitely better season, Kuuga. And in that first episode, I saw G3’s suit. And it was awesome. Similar to X Rider, his suit was power armor that he had to put on manually. This gave the suit a clunky, RoboCop vibe while still being flexible enough to fight with, which is impressive to pull off. I also like the general theme and design of the suit. He looks like really harass special forces cop.
8) Kamen Rider Decade - I haven’t seen Decade. So I can’t confirm whether the Rider is the Antichrist that the fandom makes him out to be. However, his suit is spectacular. I am a sucker for the Pink/Black color scheme, and the green eyes are the best possible choice to go with that, and the design of the whole thing, especially the helmet, just works for me.
7) Kamen Rider Ibuki - I don’t get the dislike for the Hibiki suits. Because all of them are really awesome! I love the unique designs, and I LOVE the helmets! But in particular, Ibuki scratches that itch I never knew I had. Maybe it’s the blue (my favorite color), maybe it’s the showy design, or maybe it’s those awesome helmets! The world may never know!
6) Kamen Rider Super-1 - And of course, no Top Ten KR Suits list would be complete without the Showa Spaceman himself. This guy can’t help but stand out among the Showa Riders: The silver is easy enough to spot, but the stark contrast provided with the red eyes absolutely help in that regard. The whole design is pleasing to the eye, but it really is the oddly shaped eyes that bring the look together.
5) Kamen Rider Sango - I feel like explaining why I like Sango’s suit will make a further entry on this list redundant. So instead, let me explain why it isn’t higher: It’s a tad too bulky for my taste. That being said, I REALLY love this suit! Depending on the day, it’s sometimes my second favorite.
4) Kamen Rider ZO - Unlike the other entries on this list, me liking this suit is almost directly tied to me loving the film so much. Because it is an unusual, and undeniably cool, design. The lack of a belt and the unusual design of the suit can be a bit jarring, but the helmet saves the look, I feel. It’s cool. With the visor extending to the top of the helmet. Still, even with the give and take suit, I really do think that the look comes together quite nicely. It almost feels like a reimagined Kamen Rider 1. And that is ALWAYS a good thing.
3) Kamen Rider Femme - SO AWESOME!! With all due respect to Kamen Rider Tackle, Femme’s design is THE look for a female Kamen Rider. Just just because it’s in her name. But also because it’s SO FRIGGIN COOL!! It’s regal in a way that let’s her command your attention, and it’s beautiful in that way that only a swan themed knight can be. It also doesn’t hurt that white is a color not often seen on a Rider. So even if the design was only okay (which it’s not), it would stand out to me on the color alone.
2) Shocker Rider (Next) - HEAR ME OUT!! Kamen Rider the Next had some truly spectacular suit designs. ESPECIALLY when it came to the Riders. So naturally, one was going to make the list. But which one? Naturally, I gravitated to Ichigo and Nigo, but then I realized: The Riders created by Shocker, aside from V3, are pallet swaps of each other. And since I loved the designs so much, all I had to do was pick a favorite color. And the color for the Shocker Riders DOES it for me. That shade of yellow isn’t something you see everyday. And it works very well for them.
Be honest.
Who else could it have been?
1) Kamen Rider Skull - This is, hands down, the coolest to ever grace the Kamen Rider franchise. It’s. Just. So. Awesome. I MEAN LOOK AT HIM!! He’s black and silver, which is always a win, he’s got an awesome helmet, he’s intimidating, the scarf ABSOLUTELY works on him, HE’S GOT A FEDORA!! I honestly don’t know what else I can say on the matter. Because however cool he looks on paper, he looks infinitely better on screen. And the big thing that works here is the simplicity of it all: you can look at him and instantly know that he’s a Kamen Rider, and you aren’t bombarded by colors and shapes that hurt the eye (Gaim). It’s a simple concept that absolutely could not have been pulled off better. And you know what? Skull is also one of my favorite characters in the franchise. I consider him to be on equal footing with Ichigo, Nigo, Kuuga, OOO, and others of that highest Pantheon of Riders. Does that make me biased? Maybe, but just remember that OOO didn’t even make the list, and he IS my favorite. I just absolutely love this suit and everything about this list.
Special thanks to @himitsusentaiblog for inspiring me to make the list. I hope he reads it, and I hope that I managed to interest some of you Normies into checking out this awesome franchise.

Cardfight Anime Fights: Before and Now. [Vanguard Rant]
I guess this would be my first rant about something. Kinda weird that I’m even typing this now but it’s something that’s been on my mind for the last few days, partly because I’ve been re-watching old vanguard episodes from pre-G to G series, trying to understand the game’s evolution and nostalgia. I’m going to split this rant into two categories: Pre-G and G-Series for obvious reasons. I’m willing to include a potential top 3-5 favorite fights but this isn’t a top tens list. So here I go!
Pre-Generation Fights
So Pre-Generation will consist of Seasons 1-4. Yes I’m even including the Legion arc despite how negatively received it was by fans for subpar narrative story and the fights, even the format in real time just being undeveloped. When I think back to Pre-G Fights, I remember looking and watching all of the fights with a bit of involvement as a viewer. Each play is thoroughly shown and you can even hypothesize and theorize scenarios if any of the players did something differently, especially if they made errors in guarding or misplay (unless it was for narrative purpose like Tetsu not calling Amon R to rear and just defeating Ren). I feel as though this era of fights up until season 3 showed a level of skill and showed characters individually by their own play and deck styles. Kai overpowers and beats down his opponents during grade 3 ride while Ren minimizes their resources by killing off rears at the last second, so on and so forth. I enjoy watching these fights the most because it pulls me into the fight. Earlier in the day, I watched Ren vs Aichi at the Vanguard Highschool Championship Qualifier, and noticed that Aichi could’ve won on the same turn in two different ways: >>One was protecting 9k Rear Guard with 2 10k Shields in hand, following his break ride and callling his 7k grade 1 booster behind something and done the same play: 16k Rear, 33k Vanguard, 19k rear (from break ride and critical trigger power), and Blaster Blade being 16k. >>Alternatively, he could’ve called his trigger behind a rear guard and had another 24k rear guard which would’ve required 15k shield which Ren did not have. Now I’m not mad at Aichi at all, but the animators did a good job animating the fight well enough for fighters to see potential missed plays or errors if they paid attention to fight beyond a narrative perspective. There are many more examples like this even in scenarios where it would appear someone cheated but if you follow the game and guarding, it still would’ve equated to the same result (aka when Leon made Tidal attack rear for fourth battle when Tetra-drive requires the 4th to be at the vanguard, Leon could’ve just boosted the 3rd attack and Koutei could’ve just intercepted, same value.) But my point in bringing it up is that these fights had a lot more to offer and take from if viewed from a fighters perspective. The little details put into the fight, showing how a fighter played, how they built their deck, what tactics they used, and most importantly how the fight ended. How a fight ends is equally important because outside of knowing from foreshadowing narration, I like not knowing who will win or seeing someone who is skilled at the game beat down their opponent in a fitting gap of ability (these matches you can look back when Kai just destroys anyone he fights in any of the tournaments). Normally we have the cliche moment of the “Situation Card has appeared!” or the “Top deck win”, however it was done in a way that didn’t just seem like the opponent was completely obliterated and had no chance to stop it. How the player took advantage of their “Situational Card” made the difference from it being a “lucky sack” to a “lucky pro play”. I’ll explain more on this in the G-series segment but a good example of this would be when Leon fought Asaka in episode 116. He was in a tough spot but made the most of his situation and won. A beautiful example of a good anime Vanguard fight. So, before I talk about the G-Series Fights, I’ll go ahead and list my top 5 fights in no particular order.
5. Leon vs Daigo 4. Kai vs Kyou (Season 1) 3. Leon vs Koutei (Most of Reverse Koutei’s fights to be honest) 2. Aichi vs Ren (Season 3 & 2 are tied) 1. Kai vs Ren (Season 3)
G-Series Fights
Cardfight Vanguard G anime fights are... a complete mess. I try to watch the fights from a fighters perspective but there are only a few fights where I am able to actively engage myself as a fighter rather than for story. I’ll say this hands down, G-Series has no good anime fights whatsoever with Chrono. Compared to Aichi where he loses but then in other fights you’re like “I don’t know if he’ll win”, that suspense doesn’t exist with Chrono. He wins every fight except gag fights or when they need to show off a new antagonist, which, I understand this is the trend for the protagonist to win as much as they can, which is why I didn’t watch Aichi a lot until about Season 2 where he’d lose a lot of the tournament matches and then improved and started taking wins (and even then he’d still lose from time to time: aka Kai and Ren in Season 3). Chrono takes it to a whole new level, mind you, Chrono is a beginner. Season 1 of G was okay because Chrono started off strong (despite being a beginner) and I gave him the benefit of the doubt of having a fighters sense to strive and improve, which was shown more ferociously than Aichi. However, it was shattered in G GIRS Crisis (season 2, pretty much) where his reign of terror beats even the best of Vanguard from Pre-G. I know the plot was that they needed to win every G-Quest to have Generation Master Titles. Which was dumb. (Well just now looking at the wiki, they needed 50 or more points for Generation Master however 6 Branches, 10 points each. Do math.) Ok, so they won every match, at least the fights were good right? Wrong. The fights themselves are short and rushed and only seem to matter after each players first stride. Sure each game starts the same of riding your grades 1/2/3, however, that’s 5 turns before the first stride appears, you mean that everyone is playing the same and not rushing their opponent down to 3-4 damage? Back in Pre-G, people would be beaten down to 4 or sometimes 5 before their grade 3 ride. Okay so early game is inaccurate or well non-existent, but surely the turns post-Stride/Generation Break are worth it? You’d be wrong again. The game usually ends by the protagonists 2nd/3rd stride, otherwise their opponents third stride will end the game for them. Plus there seems to be a lack of detail for effects unless a unit contributes to the winning turn or to make an emphasis on the opponents ability to defend (or lack of ability to defend: aka showing perfect guards in drive check before the next stride has a guard restrict ability). Plus the fights don’t really show much detail on the fighters own play style, you see their builds and their strides, but nothing on if they’re aggressive or defensive outside of the units they play. The biggest example I can think of is when Chrono fought Leon. For all intents and purposes, Chrono honestly should’ve lost that fight, 0 cards in hand, 1 G3 rear. He topped deck the ability to stride and drove check a critical in both attacks from Nextage and Chronojet. I... don’t see how this is possible granted Leon should’ve had more cards in hand due to abilities of previously activated units. Don’t get me wrong, I know Pre-G has a few fights that are par with how bad this one was (certain top deck Grade 3 w/ no field, 5 open damage for cb5 +10 followed by double critical triggers comes to mind), but this is how most if not all of Chrono’s fights end against high level players. Take a look at any of his fights with Ibuki from the end of CF-G and on (minus when he didn’t have Chronojet). To make matters worse, I believe I brought up the topic of “situational cards”, well, there really isn’t any. Most characters just stride into their secondary/Generation Break 2 strides to end the game as if nothing happened. There’s not much though-processing when watching the characters stride because they just activate their effects as they continue, as though they’re on autopilot mode. Note: I’m not calling the strides or decks autopilot, I’m calling their fighters autopilot, Chrono the biggest one. It’s basically telling the other opponent, “Hey that was cool what you did and all, I might lose, but I’m not so time to win.” Before I wrap this up, I suppose I should mention my favorite fights and I’m gonna be honest, I don’t like much of them, they’ve gotten better in terms of Vanguard G-Next which I do give them credit for but it doesn’t have the same feel of watching it just for the cardfight, it’s just really to show off new units or for the narrative/plot. So... which fights or rather fighters do I like watching? Well in the intended order... 5. Shion Kiba 4. Mamoru Anjou 3. Kouji Ibuki 2. Tokoha Anjou 1. Jaime Alcaraz
Conclusion
For those who didn’t watch Yu-Gi-Oh! GX in the english dubbed, a quote from Zane Truesdale always sticks in my head in any card game. “Knowing how to use a card is different from playing a card.” It speaks a lot to me and shows who really knows what they’re doing and who is just being autonomous when it comes to playing the game. Watching Pre-G fights gives me an understanding that the characters knew how to use their cards properly and make the most of them in order to improve, rather than just playing it and hope it does a lot of damage. I believe that is the difference that makes the fights in the anime more interesting and more engaging in both a fighters perspective and narratives perspective as opposed to just jobbing everyone and only focus on what the fights mean for the plot. Like I said before, G-Series has stepped up in G-NEXT with their fights but it’s still not very detailed and very autonomous, even more so when characters don’t use the abilities of their units (certain Gold Paladin players come to mind when they don’t use their Generation Break 2 to guard.) So that is my first ever rant about Vanguard. Again, this has been on my mind since I’ve been talking to a few friends about the game’s evolution and ended up talking about the anime, nostalgia was calling and sat down to watch some old episodes.

January
In the beginning of January my family and I went skiing in Bansko. The highlight of our trip was that the Wi-Fi in our hotel was not working properly. It is amazing how more valuable our time together was during those days. We laughed, shared stories, picked on each other and played different games. This month taught me the importance of communication. It is the absolute cornerstone of every relationship in life.

February
February was the month of travel. My best friends and I attended Harvard Model United Nations and spent an amazing week in Boston and New York. Hana and I also celebrated our 22nd birthdays in Boston and got a cake delivery in our hotel room from our friend Festa. This was beyond thoughtful of her.
The highlight of this month was the acceptance letter from London School of Economics. We were stuck in the metro in New York, and while we were waiting I decided to check my email. Bam! I got accepted! I cried so much I can’t even remember. Oh and by the way, New York was breathtaking. In February I learned the importance of networking. Networking is all about building strong and smart relationships.

March
March was a little bit more boring. I worked on my thesis and also dealt with some health issues, but all turned out great. To be honest, I can’t recall any particular event about this month. But still, March taught me that it is okay to just chill sometimes. We are all constantly running around from one place to another and waking up to do exactly what we did the day before. It is important to live your life mindfully, slowly and with awareness. Less doing, more being.

April
My friends and I went to an Escape Room in Budapest. In case you don’t know, escape rooms are puzzles and riddles inside a room using clues, hints and strategies. Our challenge was to escape from an “Island” in 60 minutes by trying to find hidden keys, hidden riddles and lots of other exciting stuff. It was an amazing experience, and I am so glad I got to do it with my friends. This month taught me the importance of making and spending time with your friends. Although we had exams and stress, we all decided to go on a trip and spend the last days of our senior year together.

May
This month was probably the highlight of my whole year. I graduated. But I wasn’t excited only because I graduated, but because I was selected as the Keynote Speaker and I kept it a secret from my parents. I wanted my speech to be a surprise because I dedicate all my success to my parents and wanted them to feel exceptional. And I did that, I made them feel exceptional and proud. This month has taught me that no matter how hard the road gets, hard work always always always pays off, and it is one of the best feelings in the world.

June
My family and I took a road trip together. Even though I live with my parents and see them every single day, I still feel like when we travel together we learn more about one another. I guess it is all because we are always growing, learning new stuff and making new experiences. June taught me to constantly be curious of my surroundings, learn about people, learn different perspectives. It taught me to continue seeking knowledge, to learn and to quench my curiosity.

July
This month I went outside my comfort zone and decided to start a youtube channel. I always wanted to do blogs but always felt a little bit shy and uncomfortable to share videos of myself online. When I shared my first video I got positive feedback that motivated me to continue and share other videos. I even had an amazing collaboration with Intersport and managed to publish two videos as part of a “Sweat in the City” project. This month taught me that our intentions should be kept close so we can focus our energy on them. If there is anything you want to try and do, do it! You will never know if you like it or not if you don’t try it.

August
August was the month of sea. I enjoyed the sun, the food and the waves. Nothing else mattered. I also started meditating regularly. On August I learned how to accept and understand myself by not letting this limit what I can be. I treated myself with love. I took care of myself.

September
On September I was feeling a little bit down. I had just graduated, spent an amazing summer and was waiting for other things to happen. I didn’t know what I was waiting for though. I decided to apply for a job. Well, 10 jobs to be precise. I was ready to work. September was a month of reflection, where I learned something interesting about myself. I can’t spend a long time doing nothing, I always need to have something to do otherwise I feel ineffective and unproductive.

October
On October I got a new job at a Digital Marketing Agency. To be honest, I never expected them to call me for an interview because I wasn’t meeting all of the requirements, and I was very surprised when they did. Everything went smoothly and I started working on 16th of October. This month taught me that we should never underestimate ourselves and our abilities. We should always know our worth.

November
November was a month of work and stress. I was adapting to the work environment, schedule and requirements, and it honestly felt like I was on a rollercoaster. Everything was going too fast but I managed to create new habits and fit them to my new lifestyle. I started working out at 6am, learn German and still devote what time I had left to my family and friends. I can’t lie, it was hard, but now it all turned out great. This month I learned to appreciate the value of the things I produce, because through creation I connect. I want my creativity, identity and my own pulse to always be present in everything I do, even if I am working for a client who is completely out of tune with what I believe in.
December
On December I got to travel with my best friend. We spent a few days in Amsterdam, a day in Hague and a day in Brussels. I felt beyond lucky to have the opportunity of traveling with her. This month I learned to appreciate the beauty and fragility of life. I tried to not take things for granted.

Today What if we looked at a day the same way as we look at a year? What if we lay down in our bed one day and think of our day this way:
“Well, today was amazing because I managed to finish this task, go to this place, drink this juice, eat this burger, kiss this person etc… Today I learned that the meat in the burger should not be burned, and kissing someone after eating is not a good idea. Haha”
Maybe if we looked at our days the same way we look at the whole year, we would feel more grateful, aware and happy with our lives. Know what I’m saying?
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Last but not least, HAPPY NEW YEAR my dear readers. I wish you live a year that is mindful, slow, successful, filled with awareness and love. I wish you make time for yourself, conversations, being outdoors and seeking authentic connections. I love you all very much.
Yours truly,

My colleagues made me utilize Mac OS 9 for their (and your) entertainment On the off chance that you need to welcome the present, have a go at living in the past for a couple days.
The above is a daintily altered discussion between Senior Reviews Editor Lee Hutchinson and Automotive Editor Jonathan Gitlin in the Ars staff IRC channel on July 22 of 2014. Utilizing Mac OS 9 did not at first appear like such an "awesome thought" to me, however.
I'm not one for lost sentimentality; I have affectionate recollections of introducing MS-DOS 6.2.2 on some old leftover PC with a 20MB hard drive at the youthful age of 11 or 12, yet that doesn't mean I'm occupied with attempting to do it once more. I move with whatever new programming organizations push out, regardless of the possibility that it requires little changes to my work process. Over the long haul it's quite recently simpler to do that than it is to proclaim you won't ever redesign again in light of the fact that somebody changed something in a way you didn't care for. What's that proverb—something about being sufficiently adaptable to curve when the wind blows, in light of the fact that being unbending means you'll simply break? That is my way to deal with computing.I have fluffy, dubiously affectionate recollections of running the Mac rendition of Oregon Trail, playing with After Dark screensavers, and utilizing SimpleText to make the PC swear, yet that was never a world I really lived in. I just started utilizing Macs genuinely after the Intel move, when the Mac quit being a maxim for Micro$oft-despising devotion and began to be simply, you know, a PC.
So why acknowledge the task? It backpedals to a wonder we took a gander at a couple of months back as a component of our broad Android history article. Innovation of assorted types—PCs, amusement comforts, programming—pushes ahead, yet it once in a while advances with any respect for conservation. It's impractical today to get a telephone running Android 1.0 and comprehend what utilizing Android 1.0 was really similar to—all that is left is a black out, fossilized impression of the experience.
As somebody who composes only about innovation at an only advanced production, that is kind of calming. You can't value an exemplary PC or a great bit of programming in the way you could acknowledge, say, an exemplary auto, or an exemplary book. Individuals who work in tech: to what extent will it be before nobody recollects that thing you made? Or, then again before they can't encounter it, regardless of the possibility that they need to?
So here I am on a battered PowerBook that will scarcely hold a charge, playing with great Mac OS (rendition 9.2.2) and attempting to welcome the work of the individuals who built up the product in the mid-to-late '90s (and to entertain my collaborators). We're currently 12 years past Steve Jobs' memorial service for the OS at WWDC in 2002. While a few people still discover utilizes for DOS, I'm almost certain that even the most vigorous exemplary Mac OS clients have surrendered the apparition at this point—discovering posts on the subject any later than 2011 or 2012 is uncommon. So if there are any of regardless you out there, I believe you're all insane... be that as it may, will live with your most loved OS for a bit.
Discovering equipment
My first errand was to get my hands on equipment that would really run OS 9, after an unsuccessful survey of the staff (even we toss stuff out, in the long run). I was advised to discover something usable, yet to spend close to $100 doing it.
You'd think it would be entirely simple to do this, given I was burrowing for quite a long time old equipment that has been totally deserted by its maker, however there were difficulties. Certain very much respected machines like the "Pismo" G3 PowerBook have held their esteem so well that working, all around kept up machines can at present offer for a few hundred dollars. Others, similar to the aluminum G4 PowerBooks, are too new to boot OS 9. They'll just run more seasoned applications through the Classic similarity layer in more established forms of OS X.
I would not like to manage the torment of a 800×600 show, so the clamshell G3 iBooks were out, and I never truly loved the white iBooks at the time—I discovered their consoles soft and their development somewhat shaky. White plastic iBooks and MacBooks were never truly known for their toughness. Anything with a G3 likewise precludes bolster for OS X 10.5, which I'd need to introduce later to really complete stuff on this thing.
The portable PC I chose to run with was the titanium PowerBook G4. While these weren't without quality issues, they at any rate guaranteed usable screen resolutions and Mac OS 9 similarity. They additionally tend to fall right where we'd need them on the estimating range—mature enough to be modest, however not all that old or very much wanted to be gatherers' items. The PowerBook G4 is known as a "supercomputer." You continue utilizing that word...
What does this music need to do with anything?
Phil Schiller's hair!
Jony Ive articulates "aluminum" in the American form, as opposed to "aluminum."
Titanium was superior to anything aluminum in 2001, however it evidently quit being that path later in the decade.
Macintosh OS X had been out for around six months now, and it's said by name once in the promotion, yet the majority of the shots of the PC in real life demonstrate it utilizing Mac OS 9. The initial few OS X discharges are best overlooked.
Finding utilized PCs on Craigslist is an awesome approach to get misled and left for dead in some rear way in Brooklyn, so I swung to eBay. Many utilized PCs on eBay are being sold "as-may be" or for parts, a final desperate attempt by their proprietors to get some sort of significant worth out of them while likewise disposing of them. It's somewhat unsafe, yet you can spare some cash on the off chance that you get one of these dinged-up models and settle it yourself.
For about $75, I could get a 800MHz model with 512MB of RAM and a 40GB hard drive. It worked yet incorporated a non-working battery, no power connector, and a wonky power jack. For $8.86, I got another power jack (cheerfully, it was separate from the principle rationale board back then), and another $15 got me an utilized honest to goodness Apple connector (outsider substitutes are broadly accessible for a couple of dollars less, however I am unnerved of shabby off-brand chargers). That conveyed my aggregate to a little under $100.I could have spent amongst $25 and $95 on a working outsider battery. I coincidentally had 1GB of PC133 SDRAM (the most extreme sum bolstered by this PowerBook) covered in my storeroom, however I would have spent another $12 or something like that on the off chance that I'd needed to pay for it. These redesigns aren't entirely essential, and dumping a great deal of additional cash into a PC this old is probably not going to raise its esteem much. I went $30 out-of-pocket to supplant the shaky old hard drive with a glossy new one with a speedier rotational speed and a higher limit, however. At times you must treat yourself.
My iFixit screwdriver pack and the convenient iFixit repair guides helped me split the case, supplant the power jack and drive, and swap out the RAM. All repairs went off easily, and I utilized some canned air to victory a portion of the tidy and coarseness that had accumulated inside the case. I tidied my 2012 iMac up my work area and supplanted it with the repaired PowerBook. Time to get to work.I booted to the great Mac OS desktop, on account of Mac OS 9.2.2 introduce media from Ars Senior Science Editor John Timmer. Notwithstanding for somebody who has essentially utilized OS X, this is still conspicuously Mac OS, regardless of the possibility that its underpinnings are entirely different. It would seem that the Windows 98 rendition of Mac OS.
There are peculiarities to get used to, however. Comforts like parchment haggles clicking aren't upheld, even with an outer mouse, and the outsider programming made to empower those elements didn't care for my Logitech remote mouse. The idea of "Control Panels" that are introduced and utilized like individual applications is outsider to somebody used to the across the board comfort of System Preferences. What's more, associating the PowerBook to my switch required an excursion to the TCP/IP Control Panel to get things working—the OS didn't simply identify a dynamic system interface and get an IP address as it does now.
I can comprehend why a few people needed to stay with Mac OS 9, particularly in the beginning of Mac OS X when additional clock speed and memory were costly and harder to stop by. Macintosh OS 9 feels substantially speedier on the 800MHz G4 than does OS X 10.4 or 10.5, and when the framework is working easily things open and close basically momentarily. That is, unless you get a fly up message that quickly solidifies the OS, or you have an odd, conceivably memory-related crash that requires a restart. Indeed, even back in the most punctual, slowest, buggiest days of OS X, it brought highly enhanced strength and memory administration to the table, and it's something we've come to underestimate.
The most ideal approach to begin in case you're returning to a relic is to discover the pockets of individuals on the Internet who still utilize it. For any item that was adequately prominent in its day, despite everything you'll have the capacity to discover some gathering of individuals, some place, that keeps on singing its gestures of recognition (remind me to enlighten you regarding the time I dissed the Apple Newton in an article). Initially I discovered LowEndMac.com's kind of-dynamic Mac OS 9 Google gathering, and from that point I was indicated the abandonware document at Macintosh Garden.
Abandonware (a helpful portmanteau of "relinquished" and "programming") is one of those product "hazy areas," similar to outdated PC and support amusement imitating. Actually, utilizing this product without paying for it constitutes "taking," since it was never presented for nothing some time ago. In any case, huge numbers of these organizations aren't even around any longer, and the ones that are still around aren't generally keen on offering or keeping up decades-old diversions and efficiency programming.
Mac Garden is brimming with such abandonware, and for this article will download it aimlessly for the sake of Science. Regardless of whether despite everything you'll discover these applications helpful relies on upon what you're attempting to do, however.
Attempting to work? Good fortunes
I initially had high expectations that I'd have the capacity to carry out my occupation utilizing Mac OS 9, since on paper the greater part of the devices I need are promptly accessible.
