Decals, how do I do them? Well using this commission from a few years back to explain, there's a few simple steps I take... First, I create the decals I need on the laptop, cropping images and using shapes to make up the things I can't locate, sometimes some proper detective work is needed.. Next I print them onto either white backed decal paper or transparent, depending on the colour backing that the decals going onto... Then I have to seal them with 3 coats of matt clear varnish, these are 15 minutes apart... Then it's time to cut them out and then soak in water for a couple of seconds before applying... I did these multichrome/chameleon butterfly nails a fortnight or so ago, and even though the polish has held up really well I'm thinking of changing them soon, so I thought I'd share them before I do 💅 I got the multichrome polishes from AliExpress, and I really like them so I'll be ordering more. Seeing as GW doesn’t produce a proper Crimson Fist accessory kit for decals, had to get these. Ordered from The Mighty Brush and took about 2 weeks to arrive. Very happy with these, can finally get some markings on my Fists.

I helped a friend learn to put decals/transfers on his Salamanders last week. Like most, he was concerned about them and didn't want to mess up his nice paint job. After a short demonstration, he picked up the technique quickly and completed a combat squad's worth of Chapter badges. We used micro set to soften the decals and help them to conform to the curved surface of the shoulder pads. Along with just a little of the stronger Microsol to smooth out any remaining bumps. Decals are really good for finishing up models and adding extra detail. Especially for Space Marines and their heraldry. So if you are concerned about using them too, I recommend losing the fear and trying it for yourself!
