I drew my happy hiker a while ago and have been deciding where to stick her since. Ultimately decided on Faery Falls, a hidden gem near Mount Shasta (California). The distant part of the background, I switched back and forth between my new layer and reference layer and wasn’t thrilled with how it was looking. By the time I got to the foreground part of the background I lost my patience for that and started drawing (on a new layer) atop the reference which is what resulted in the cool rotoscoped effects on the rocks (the balanced rock tower in the lower left makes me happy). A few finishing touches on my new painting called "Water poem". This painting was inspired during one of our hikes last year. I love to paint waterfalls. The differences in value and temperature are subtle and gentle. Paintings like this one, in which I concentrate so much on loving every wet rock 🙃, are like a life poemfor me. This painting has gone through a lot of changes so far! I thought I liked where I was going with the little houses, then I decided to try a green glaze, then I got totally fed up with it and decided since I had been doing so many bright colours I wanted to do something a bit softer and painted all over it again in total frustration and then this landscape appeared and I really like we're it's going.
