#watching the backstory knowing that's even before breaking bad is so goofy

Wait. Stop. Listen. I need to talk about Willy’s Wonderland.
Most of you haven’t seen this film. If you’ve heard of it at all, you probably caught wind of “Nicolas Cage Plays Five Nights At Freddy’s” as the basic premise. And that is correct. But.
BUT. What you might NOT have heard.
Is that Nic Cage’s character in this film is 100% autistic coded, to a degree that it cannot possibly be an accident, and every single one of his autistic traits is portrayed as badass. I swear whoever came up with this character must have made it to show to someone autistic in their life to prove that the traits they get made fun of are actually very good and cool.
The film is a goofy horror thing and there is blood and gore and violence, and that is for sure not for everyone. Unfortunately there are also a few scenes with flashing lights (especially near the end), and some of the fighting scenes get pretty screen-shaky, which is a real shame. I recommend checking doesthedogdie.com for details if you have things you need to avoid. But if you are cool with those things (or have someone to watch with who can tell you when to turn away and look back) you MUST see this film.
Not sold yet? Minor spoilers lie ahead, but Nic Cage’s (unnamed) character:
Is 100% non-verbal. He communicates solely through slow nods/head-shakes and slow, deliberate actions. This is played as him being a quiet badass. It is also hilarious because when he doesn’t speak and just dead-eyed stares at all the other characters who talk to him, they get uncomfortable and just keep talking and spilling all the film’s backstory in big infodumps which actually make sense under the circumstances, instead of feeling shoehorned in.
Has apparent sensory issues. Wears sunglasses outdoors at all times even though it’s cloudy or dark out the whole time. At one point he seems to get sensory overload, which only slows him down briefly before he returns to being a badass again, except now a very pissed off one.
On the other hand, appears to be hyposensitive to some things. He has no apparent startle reflex despite many things that would jump-scare a normal person out of their skin. Also does not react much to pain.
Seems very concerned about keeping clean. Washes his hands before each break and changes his shirt whenever it gets dirty (like when it gets drenched in blood and animatronic fluids for example). Sands down his fingernails to keep grit out of them. He is meticulous about the cleaning job he’s been given, down to every spot of graffiti and drop of blood and the tiniest bit of grit.
Has a flat affect and blank facial expression pretty much at all times. Again, this is played as him being a stone cold badass (which he is).
Follows instructions very precisely, almost obsessively. No matter what tries to get in his way. He has a Job To Do at this place and he Does It and if that involves fighting off a horde of murderous animatronics then I guess he has to do that too.
Follows a very precise schedule. One of his instructions is to take breaks, so he sets an alarm that goes off at regular intervals and stops working to play pinball for a few minutes before returning to work. Even if that means walking away from a big fight to do so.
Seems to have a special interest in pinball which involves a number of stims. When he finds the pinball machine he looks like he has fallen in love.
Has one single brand of beverage that he drinks. He has a can of this beverage, same brand, same flavor, at every single break. His car has a case of it in the trunk. The beverage is called “Punch” and there is a picture of a fist on the can, and he crushes each can before throwing it away, so it is, again, badass as hell.
On top of all of this, the neurotypical characters in the film are portrayed as being overly chatty idiots. They never stop talking. They constantly make bad decisions based on emotions (and their sex drives) instead of logic and reason. They know about the danger they’re in yet they make every cliche horror film mistake. They’re all so obsessed with “saving” this guy that they don’t seem to notice that he doesn’t need any help.
In conclusion, Nic Cage’s character in Willy’s Wonderland is the autistic hero we’ve always needed and I need everyone to go watch it and tell their friends to watch it and spread the word.
Take any one of his traits and tweak it slightly and you have something that autistic people have been made fun of for all their lives. Needing to eat/drink the same things all the time. Needing a precise schedule. Following instructions to the letter. Beating possessed animatronics to death with our fists. Not speaking, or speaking very little or very strangely. Wanting things to be clean and feeling uncomfortable when they’re dirty. Obviously not every autistic person has all of these traits, but they are all common, and they are all used as examples of why we are broken, or inferior, or tragic.
Well fuck that noise. Next time someone shames you for that shit, put on Willy’s Wonderland and ask them if they’d say the same thing to our good buddy Mr. Cage.

Do you ever make posts about the other teams?
As I have a special place in my heart for Bokuto and kenma
Tumblr media
Ooh! Good question. I haven’t yet, since I’m only on my first watch-through and I’m really invested in Karasuno right now. To be honest, Noya is the only one to have gotten a dedicated post like the one you saw XD He’s my absolute favorite. That said, I love the other teams too!! My favorite non-Karasuno teams are Nekoma, Fukurodoni, Seijoh, and Johzenji.
I love Bokuto! He’s such a goofy golden retriever! And I love his dynamic with Tsukki and Hinata! To be honest I don’t have much to say about him other than that, which sounds bad, but I do love Bokuto. He’s a sweetheart!
Ooh, Kenma is great! I recently just finished the Nekoma episodes of season 4, and although I liked Kenma before I love him now! He’s very relatable, and I look at him and can see a lot of myself. We have vastly different temperaments, but his coping strategies for a lot of things and the way he interacts (or avoids interacting) with people are both things that are just so incredibly familiar to me. I thought it was so cute how he got mad at gravity during their episodes XD And that he finally admitted the team are his friends! Also he has really pretty eyes.
Some of my favorite characters from other teams are Yaku, Akaashi, and Tendō.
Yaku stole my heart as soon as I saw him, honestly, so he’s always the one I look for first when Nekoma shows up. I just really enjoy his dynamic with the team as a whole and individually :) Akaashi grew on me as seasons went by. I never disliked him, but originally I was very passive to him. And now the more I learn about him the more I can see of myself, and the more I get to watch him play and interact with his teammates the more I like him! I loved his little analysis breaks during season 4 while they lasted. Also he has gorgeous eyes. Like sir. Who gave you permission to have eyes that pretty?
And then Tendō. Never in a million years did I expect to like Tendō, let alone say he’s one of my favorites from a non-Karasuno team. When he initially showed up he gave me the creeps, and then he sang his little song while Yamaguchi was leaving the court and I decided I hated him more than Oikawa (for the record, I no longer hate Oikawa, but I did for a long while). And then we got his backstory and I sympathized because I’ve been there. I completely understand being the weird kid no one wants to be friends with. And after that I couldn’t hate him anymore, I was just happy he found a place he fits and he’s got a best friend and he seems to be pretty happy with his life. He’s a sweetheart too in his own way, and I loved all of his season 4 moments.
As far as teams themselves go, I’d say Nekoma is probably my second favorite, with Seijoh and Fukurodoni being tied for third, and then Johzenji comes in fourth. Johzenji is on here solely for their vibe, honestly. They seem like they genuinely have fun playing volleyball, and it was so contagious during Karasuno’s match against them! I’m not super attached to any of their players, but they are by far the most fun team to watch in a match for me. (Even above Karasuno, because Karasuno stresses me out and is going to be the reason I go gray early)
I love Bokuto and Akaashi, but they’re really the only Fukurodoni members I know. So while I love them both enough that it puts Fukurodoni on the list, I can’t say I love the team as a whole more than I love Seijoh or Nekoma.
With Seijoh I love three characters, but they’re all a bit mean in their own ways, so I can’t say I love them more than Fukurodoni because while I do enjoy them, I can’t ever bring myself to root for them. That said, my favorite Seijoh players are Oikawa, Iwaizumi, and Kunimi.
Nekoma has the best vibes out of pretty much any of the teams, as far as dynamics go. Like I would happily be a manager for Nekoma just so I could hang out with these guys. Like I said earlier, I love Yaku and Kenma, but I also really enjoy Kuroo and Fukunaga and Shibayama! Nekoma’s dynamic as a team has a special feeling to it that I have yet to see in any of the other teams, and if I had to be part of a team I’d probably pick Nekoma over Karasuno, because I feel I’d fit better with Nekoma’s vibes than Karasuno.
Karasuno is still my favorite team though by sheer virtue of “I love every single character on this team” (and also Karasuno is the only team that has Nishinoya, so they get major bonus points for that). I have an emotional investment in Karasuno that I don’t have (as much) with the other teams. I have watched these boys grow and learn and become better and stronger and learn to live up to their motto. They really are flying, and it’s amazing to watch, knowing where we started.
Sorry, I kinda talked your ears off there XD Please feel free to ask about any other characters/teams/etc. or TMNT/anything else! I always enjoy talking about characters from pretty much anything I’ve seen :)

Webby Reviews Horror: The Bye Bye Man (2017)
Tumblr media
The Bye Bye Man. This movie has been meme’d to death, and I’m sure, if you’re reading this, you’ve at least heard of it. I first watched it for my 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days challenge in 2022, expecting it to be the kind that doesn’t take itself seriously. But it does.
The Bye Bye Man tells the story of three college students that move into a fixer-upper of a house and unleash an unstoppable force of evil that comes for you once you know his name. Now on paper, that sounds like a solid premise. In practice.... well, we’ll get to that.
Review under the cut, and as always, SPOILERS AHEAD!
The Bye Bye Man is a tragedy. It contains so many good bits and pieces, but they aren’t quite assembled right- like a puzzle missing some pieces, and somebody painted over some of the others.
It has a decently strong opening- Leigh Whannell murders his way through a quiet suburban neighborhood, gunning down friends and neighbors while shouting about a name that shouldn’t be said, and sometimes muttering the tagline- don’t think it, don’t say it. Nice and intriguing, good First Kill.
Even going into the next sequence isn’t bad- meeting our core protagonists, setting up the scenery, establishing backstories, etc. A bit slow, but it works fine. The slow ramp-up of the upcoming horrors is pretty decent, too- the scene with the kid opening one door while the Hound creeps silently out of the one behind her was nice and eerie! Not to mention one of my favorite tropes in horror movies- Spot the Thing. I managed to find him in mirrors and shadows at least four times before his big reveal, but there’s likely even more I didn’t catch.
The concept itself is promising! An entity that stalks you but only after you know it exists, and the more you think about it, the closer you are to death! That fucking RULES! I’d be so fucking dead! Trying not to think about something, especially when that thing is toying with your mind constantly? An impossible task for me, and a story genre I will always love.
The breaking of the protagonists is also fairly decent. Elliot, the main protag, is adorably in love with his girlfriend, and is so close to the other character John, they consider each other brothers; by the end, they’ve turned on one another, driven mad by hallucinations and suspicion. Heartbreaking stuff, honestly.
There’s a post that’s been going around on Tumblr lately about phones and horror movies, and how instead of simply not working, they could be utilized to invoke more horror as working devices. The Bye Bye Man actually has a good example of this! There’s a scene where one of our protags, trying to ease his mind, is looking through pictures on his phone, when he is treated a series of pictures of the titular entity, who taunts him.
So if it has all these elements, why does it not deliver?
Firstly, the name. Now, I know the original tale (both folk tale and published book edition) also has him named the Bye Bye Man, but reading it and hearing it just have very different vibes. Reading a story about a malevolent spirit with a goofy name? Sure, I can let my imagination run with that. Hearing people say it out loud with their mouth? It just doesn’t land for me, no matter how hard I tried.
It’s possible that it COULD have landed, with some tweaks to the movie: more instances of characters unintentionally saying it, or hearing it as an auditory hallucination; even the way it’s said might have heightened its fear factor. Here, try this- say The Bye Bye Man as though you are reading the title of the movie out loud. Now, say it slow, hesitant, breath shaky and as though you’re forcing yourself to stop saying it. There’s a noticeable difference, yeah? Well, mostly, we only get the first example. Even just a slight pause between each word gives it a different feel, or at least it does to me.
There’s few tropes in movies that annoy the piss out of me more than miscommunication/straight up lack of communication that drives the plot/drama. I know our protags are college kids, and as such are prone to reactions rather than sense, but it’s incredibly irritating to me. Had they stopped to think for like, ten seconds, they might have even survived.
The fact that they’re still kids might explain why they kept making the same mistakes over and over- constantly forgetting they can’t trust what they hear or see, automatically assuming the worst of people they’re supposed to love and trust, continuing to say the name OUT LOUD even after they know it’s dangerous. Ok so most of these sins are committed by the main character, but they’re all guilty of them at some point or another.
It’s possible, too, that much of their nonsensical behavior can be chalked up to supernatural influence. And it’s also possible that I’m far more paranoid than your average person. But talking and acting INCREDIBLY SUSPICIOUSLY in front of cops at a crime scene wherein you are a prime suspect? And then, when confronted by Carrie-Anne Moss’s character, Elliot continues to be suspicious as all hell. Don’t imply you have something dangerous to hide in front of a cop! Why would you do that!?
I also feel like they could have established a few more details that would have given more impact to the eventual character breakdowns. Elliot’s jealousy fueled hallucinations could have been even better, had he stated outright earlier that he trusted his best friend and girlfriend, instead of unconvincingly denying being jealous when his older brother points out the other two dancing during the party scene. Subsequently, his struggle to maintain that implicit trust would have been more impressive, as he is bombarded with hallucinations that imply they’re having an affair, including a full on vision of them having sex in front of him.
That being said, I do like that they set up Elliot’s fatal flaw early on- his cocky overconfidence. During the séance scene, he keeps smugly dismissing any mention of the supernatural as being illogical and beneath his consideration. When he later realizes how to keep the Bye Bye Man at bay, he lets this small victory feed into his ego and he seems to think he’s no longer in danger; he is quickly relieved of this notion.
His solution, when you really break it down, would never have worked long-term, at least not for him. Simply do not fear the entity! He thrives off of fear, much like Pennywise. With a name that silly, this should be easy, to be honest. (In my initial livetweet thread, I toyed with the idea of calling him The Baby Man.) However, unlike the dancing clown, denying him the fear that powers him only makes him get more creative. Upon returning home, Elliot immediately falls for another one of Bye Bye’s tricks. Shouldn’t have challenged him. You fool.
The Man himself is a decent looking monster, played by the wonderful, incredible Doug Jones; but despite the sounds and signs that precede his arrival, we never learn anything about him. Why the coins? Why the train sounds? What’s up with the Hound? Was he once a living person? The original tale has a few answers, but they are nowhere to be found in the film, which is a shame, because it could definitely have benefitted from the knowledge that Bye Bye created his canine companion out of the body parts of his initial victims, and it’s true name is the Gloomslinger. That’s fucking rad!
This movie feels like it drew inspiration from Candyman and Final Destination, in that there is power in a name, and once you’ve drawn its attention, there’s no way to escape it. The world itself will twist until you’ve fallen victim, no matter how clever you think you are. It also reminds me of an OLD, OOOOOOOOLD creepypasta that featured something similar- some sort of entity that hunts you down once you’re made aware it exists. I can’t remember much about it, other than the final line was something like “I’m so sorry. Now that you know it exists, it’s coming for you.” (If anyone knows what I’m talking about, please let me know, but be aware that I read it well over 10 years ago and cannot remember anything else about it.)
Lastly, I want to mention that I enjoyed the way it ended. Our protags are dead, as well as everyone they told his name to. With no way to spread his evil, Bye Bye should be defeated- then we’re treated to Elliot’s young niece saying she found the nightstand with the name carved into it. The wheel keeps on turning, and what a shame- but no, she couldn’t read it in the dark. THEN, we find out that John, the best friend, has survived the house exploding (how tho), and the movie ends as he whispers the name to Carrie-Anne Moss, thus ensuring the cycle continues.
I give this one five ghosts outta ten. The framework for a great movie is there, but ultimately, it failed to achieve what it set out to do. I do believe, however, that had this movie come out in the 80s, it would now be a cult classic, and considered genuinely terrifying. Then again, if it had, we’d have been denied another instance of Leigh Whannell’s character dying horrifically, and that’d be a shame.

Week ending: 16 September 1954
A familiar song makes its appearance! Thankfully, it's Nat King Cole singing, and I already know that I like his version of this particular song, so we're on reasonably solid ground.
Smile - Nat King Cole (peaked at No. 2)
This song is like a warm bath for me - you can just sink comfortingly into it! For a song I know and like, though, I've realised I don't know all that much about it. It's a Charlie Chaplin original, but that's all I could tell you.
It starts, as is par for the course, with some rather lovely orchestral bits, and a subtly jazzy vibe from the piano twiddles and faint double bass throughout. It's nice, a classy sort of vibe.
The lyrics aren't half sad though, with Nat exhoring us to "Smile, though your heart is aching / Smile, even though it's breaking". There's hope, but it's uncertain and qualified: "Smile and maybe tomorrow / You'll see the sun come shining through". Maybe. Or maybe not, you get the feeling. But you can't let any of that show, nuh-uh, don't let a trace of a tear show.
There's something more positive to be salvaged from it, I guess, a message about resilience perhaps ("That's the time you must keep on trying") or about seeing the positive side of things and finding that things aren't as bad as all that ("You'll find that life is still worthwhile / If you just smile")
I'm still not wholly convinced by it, though, and that's not necessarily a problem. It fits with the song's origin, after all. Originally a Charlie Chaplin number, it was composed without lyrics for the film Modern Times, which was the last film featuring Chaplin's Little Tramp character struggling to keep up with the pace and uncaring nature of life in the modern world, but still just about bumbling through to an uncertain future. All very existential for what looks like a goofy comedy! Almost makes me want to go out and watch it.
The lyrics, in this context, fit well, though they were only actually added long after the film had come out. In fact, Nat's version is the first to have lyrics, which is kind of cool. He sings them well, too, really owning them - he manages the sort of understated melancholy that the song needs, with a sort of weary sound, like he's sighing half the lines rather than singing them.
It's apparently a romance theme in the original film, and I can see this as something you'd sing to cheer up a love interest, but I like that it's not specifically a romantic song. You could also imagine a parent singing this to their child, for example. I like it!
Like I said, I already knew and liked this song even before I got here. I didn't know the backstory to it, though, with it appearing without lyrics in Modern Times. It's a soft, sentimental sort of song, and I can see it working well in a modern film, too, to be honest. Recommended.
Best song of the melancholy bunch: Smile

Kaeya x Fem!Reader - To Heal
Tumblr media
A/N-part 4... god razor and albedos are gonna kill me i FEEL it also wtf his backstory is so SAD.... enemies to lovers.... but only one sees them as an enemy..... god the brainrot is so good today
Trigger/Content Warnings: Spoilers for Kaeyas backstory, minor character death, light swearing, PTSD/nightmares, blood, kidnapping
I promise it’s only half as angsty as it sounds
Word Count: 2,267
Request: No
Summary: You hated him. He loved you. It’s every romcom but this time, there’s trauma.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kaeya Alberich had the world beneath his fingertips.
Very few people could resist his charms, good looks, or smile. Especially not healers who hung towards the back of the party and saved every life he put in danger.
Kaeya Alberich was a genius. People would willingly divulge secrets that would ruin their lives to his kind gaze and warm smile. He was manipulative, he was a liar, he was a traitor.
No person in Mondstadt hated Kaeya Alberich more than Kaeya Alberich himself. Though, you were a close second.
“Captain!” You barged into his office as he tied his hair up into a ponytail, “You can’t keep endangering people like this!”
He turned to you with a confused smile, “Like what? They’re Knights, aren’t they?”
“It doesn’t matter! Eventually, my healing won’t be enough!” You marched over to him and slammed your hands down on his desk, “You are selfish! You disgust me.” He shot you a big smirk which caused you to spin on your heels and leave the room, your anger nearly tangible.
Kaeya leaned back in his chair and sighed, a goofy smile lingering on his face.
No person in Mondstadt loved you more than the soldiers who you saved.
Though, Kaeya Alberich was a close second.
He didn’t know why he loved you so much. By all accounts, he should hate you. He should despise the way you brought comfort into everyone's eyes, the way you always arrived just in time to save countless lives, how your power in battle nearly outmatched his own.
He should be jealous. He should be angry. He should not be head-over-heels in love with you. He should not be trying to plan more carefully so your healing workload is lightened, and it shouldn’t even cross his mind to leave his door open so you don’t hurt your hands as you barged in here with your justified rage.
Kaeya melted into his chair as he tried to contain the thoughts that ceaselessly ran through his mind. He wanted nothing more than to hold you in his arms, sweat dripping off his face as he saved your life. And you’d smile at him, a shy and genuine smile, as you thanked him profusely.
But he was no fool. He knew how deep your hatred ran. And he couldn’t blame you, by all accounts he was selfish. He was disgusting. He risked lives for his enjoyment, he loved seeing the fear in recruits as they ran from danger.
Did that make him a bad person? Yes. Yes, absolutely. He slept every night trying to forget their screams as they called for help. No. Not called for help - begged him for help.
You seethed as you walked out of Kaeyas office. Too many lives were senselessly taken every day, too many people's blood-stained your hands.
Just like... no.
“Stop it, (Y/N). You can’t think like that.” You shook the thoughts out of your head as you mumbled to yourself. You looked to your side and caught sight of your reflection in a window. You stared for a moment, a blank expression on your face before it fell into a glare.
Kaeya Alberich brought anger into your heart. Kaeya Alberich made memories you’d rather die creep up to the surface and hit you with guilt. You hated Kaeya Alberich because he was...
“Dammit.” You slapped your cheek, “Cut it out.”
You walked back to your home and thought over what you’d do for the rest of the evening. Maybe a warm bath and tea? However, you did like the idea of belting songs from the privacy of your home... the possibilities were near endless! But, as usual, you would wash your hands first.
It didn’t matter if you hadn’t touched anything. It didn’t matter if they were already clean. You would wash them every time you had the chance.
When you finally arrived home, scrubbed your hands, you decided to put the relaxing bath off for a different night. You collapsed onto your warm bed, happily covering yourself in your heavy sheets as sleep overtook you.
If you had any regrets in your life, learning how to fight would be your top one. As the only fighter in your small town, you were relied on for everything. (Y/N) go hunting, (Y/N) take out these slimes, (Y/N) head to Mondstadt, and purchase goods.
And you were there. You were there when the small army attacked. Why were they attacking? You weren’t sure.
Families, friends, enemies. They all blurred together as you raised your weapon. In the end, you were the only one left. You weren’t out of breath nor saddened by the deaths.
Instead, you looked around the corpses that littered the ground and tried to hide your exhilaration.
For the first time, you had to fight like your life depended on it. For the first time in your life, you could let your frustration out. And there, covered in blood, was a small icy ball. You leaned over and picked it up, wiping the blood off with your hands. A Vision.
And for the first night in years, you found you couldn’t sleep. Every time your eyes would shut, you would see their bodies. Every time you plugged your ears you could hear them call your name. Every time you breathed you’d remember that they never would again.
You spent years atoning for that day and dedicated yourself to saving lives. You mastered healing, it took the same precision as killing you quickly realized, and went to Mondstadt hoping that the City of Freedom could free you from these deeds.
It couldn’t.
Nothing could.
Eventually, you found yourself working for the Knights of Favonius. As long as you didn’t swing a weapon, you were fine. You were just saving lives. You were keeping your promise.
So, why did it feel so good when their lives all depended on your choice? Why did you feel so powerful knowing you were essentially the God of these men?
Did you only join the Knights because you knew violence and bloodshed would always be a part of you?
You did everything you can to suppress these feelings. You swore off fighting, ignoring people's begging to duel you one-on-one. You’d lie and say holding weapons scared you, but it was always Kaeya who saw through your facade.
And that’s why you hated him. He was as bloodthirsty, evil, and selfish as you. He saw through each lie you spent years carefully crafting.
You hated him because he was you.
One week later, it was time for another raid.
As long as you were on the field, none of your allies would die. The raid started fine enough, you all charged into a Domain under Kaeyas orders. He froze falling rocks or spare enemies that could have killed his troops, as you stayed in the back and healed every scraped knee and minor wound.
Stay in the back. They had said. It’s safer in the back. Kaeya is smart. He’ll never lead us into a trap.
And you hated him. You truly hated him. But, damn, you trusted his plans. Even if it meant you had to work harder to keep everyone alive, you knew that the job would get done. Together, you were unstoppable.
Maybe you put too much confidence in him. You couldn’t muster a thought as a bubble of water enveloped you. You tried to break it, but all you did was force your oxygen to run out sooner.
With one last hint of desperation, you threw your vision onto the floor. And then, you fell unconscious.
Kaeya was no idiot. He saw the number of his troops dwindling and knew what happened. He ordered the stragglers to retreat, take the wounded and try their best to not die without him holding their hands.
When they were out of his sight, he immediately started to retrace his steps.
He didn’t need to come very far to notice the Vision that was kicked around and sitting on the floor. Kaeya walked over to it and picked it up, rubbing his finger over the outside.
“Cyro Vision...” He tossed it into the air, grabbed it, and continued walking. Once again, he noticed a trail of water that was slowly beginning to dry.
After not even 5 minutes of walking, he saw what he needed. A slightly askew rock. Kaeya chuckled to himself as he pressed his on it, the rocks pushed themselves aside and revealed a staircase heading down.
“Well, here goes.” He muttered under his breath as he went down the staircase.
The Abyss Mages had taken you out of the bubble and tied you to a table. You were waking up, groggy and confused, but when you remembered felt anger bubble in your stomach.
“What the hell!” You yelled at the two Abyss Mages who captured you. They both jumped and turned to face you, “Why am I here! I swear if any of my men died...”
“You’re awake.” One of them chirped.
“You’re awake-” you mocked, “did you think I was sleep talking or something?! Let me out of this!”
“We know about your true power.” The other one chimed in, “We know what happened that night. It was our allies who you killed. You must face punishment.”
You stared blankly before breaking out into laughter, “Wait - that was you guys? God, you’re pathetic! Can’t believe I was relying on someone to save me.” You began to struggle against the ropes.
“The ropes are sealed, they can only be undone with the work of a Vision. We know you are Visionless - none of the Archons would grant something as lowly as you power.”
“Oh,” you bit your lip, “that might be a problem.”
“So you accept your fate!”
“Let our justice reign down-”
Kaeya, who was standing on the staircase watching this all happen, let a laugh slip out.
“-who was that?!”
He walked down the rest of the stairs and clapped his hands, “Great show you two have put on here.”
“K-Kaeya!” You yelled. “Did you grab it?”
He threw your vision to you, and just being near to it made the ropes fall to the ground.
“I-Impossible!”
You stretched, stood, and smiled widely at your kidnappers, “I hope I’m not rusty.”
Within seconds, the Abyss Mages were dead. Ice bit at your skin, and, once again, there was blood on your hands.
You looked at your hands and felt your body start to shake. Kaeya walked over to you but stopped when he saw the tears in your eyes.
“Don’t... don’t look at me.” You turned away from him, “I’m... I’m no better than them.”
His heart snapped in two, “(Y/N)...”
“You heard what they said. I’m a killer. I killed everyone I cared about and after everything, after every promise I made... I just... I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Please, don’t look at me.”
“If you’re bad then I’m the worst.” He stepped over the corpses, “I didn’t cry when my Father died. I put everyone in danger for fun. I left... well, I can’t call him my brother now, can I?”
You slowly turned to him, “Kaeya, I-”
He kept his gaze on the ground, “I tried to make them happy. And I did- I do- really love him. Even if I’m not his brother, he’s still mine. I didn’t mean to hurt him. That’s all I ever seem to do... I hurt you. I hurt them. And I’ll do it again. I... I know all of their names. You probably don’t believe me, I wouldn’t blame you. I am a bad person.”
In a few steps, you reached him. He looked up at you and felt his eyes widen as his hand hovered above his cheek. You hit him. No, you slapped him.
“Stop talking about yourself like that.”
“Why? You think like this too.”
“Because you’re me.” You stiffened, “Everything you do is something I’ve considered. Every plan you make is one I dream of. Every life you put into my hands is one I know I can leave.”
“But you still...”
You kneeled next to him and grabbed his hands, “Because I am more than these thoughts. I know how much it’d hurt if I let them die, how much their families would cry. I see it, Kaeya. I see the ways you care for people. You can’t tell me it’s all an act.”
“What if I did?”
“I wouldn’t believe you. I don’t believe someone who hates his people would spend time listening to Glory or look into medicines for Anna. You do it even when you think nobodies looking and I...” you took a deep breath, “I’m sorry.”
“What?”
“My anger for you was directed at myself. I do think you need to change the way you plan things, have more care for people's lives.” You smiled at him and wiped the tears from his eyes, “I’m also really sorry for hitting you.”
“It’s fine, I deserved it.” He chuckled lowly.
“No, you don’t. You did like... a month ago. But not tonight.”
“So, what now?” He looked at you with small tears still in his eyes.
“Well, I think first we get out of here. Next, we should spend some time and work on ourselves. And finally...”
“Finally?”
You blushed, “Let me buy you dinner.”
The two of you left the Domain, and for a reason, no person in Mondstadt could explain, you and Kaeya became inseparable. His plans suddenly became more conscious of his men.
And together, you began to heal.

My thoughts on the final. 8 out of 10 for me and here's why.
Positives first.
The villains. I love Bradford as a villain and his plan really was flawless. To me, Bradford is the scariest type of villain there is. Scrooge trusted this man for almost his whole life. Trusted him enough to be in charge of his money, and secrets. Only to get betrayed at the end. This is an actual thing that happens in real life. People we love, people we know for our whole lives, could just suddenly become horrible people and our love and trust in them breaks. And it hurts like crazy. And that's Bradford right there. He was close to Scrooge and betrayed him. Now the fact that Bradford never saw himself as the villian adds more to why these types of people are horrible. They blame others for their misfortune or for their bad traits. Like how Bradford told the family to look what they made him into after he grew into a monster. He's trying to put the blame on others instead of acknowledging that he's doing this to himself. Like at least the other villains like Glomp Gold and Magica know their villains. They're self aware unlike Bradford. Bradford doesn't like the thought of being a villain so he blames those that see him as the villain. Like dude! You imprisoned Gandra for indefinitely, trapped Ludwig Von Drake who just wanted to talk things out with you, imprisoned innocent people like Panchito and Jose. Why those two? Just because they were tricked into performing a concert at The Feast of the Flower? He straight up murdered his agents, and threw Donald in too. Not to mention he played a part in tearing the family apart once. And he keeps justifying it by saying "I'm not a villain". Which makes it worse! You can't just say you're not a villain or that others are trying to make you look like the villain. If you're not the villain then there's no need to say it. So yeah, I enjoy Bradford as a villain because he's the most realistic of the three main villains we had. Someone who has some good points but executes them poorly.
I also enjoyed the other villains like Phantom Bot and Pepper. I ship these two so much. 💖. Pepper being her talkative self and speaking her mind while Blot is being the strong silent type. My favorite line is also from Pepper "Look Blot! He's a full grown man with the strength of a baby!" I LOVE YOU PEPPER!!! And Blot being his aggressive self is enough for me. And thank you Lena for setting Gene free! Rockerduck being his spoiled self was also a treat. Having his servant fight for him and ordering a drink while he fought. 😂 Don Karnage was his lovable singing self, also he is dead now right? No way he survived that plane crash. Congratulations Dewey, you murdered a man while singing just like I always knew you would. Heron was also great. There's no doubt in my mind that she had some kind of attraction to Bradford after that "Oh Bradford, how villainous 😏" before dying. There's just something hilarious about Heron gracefully accepting betrayal and death like that. 😂 Steelbeaks was great. Finally using that smart ray on himself and still being the imbecile he is! Glomp Gold, Magica and the Beagles special appearance was also a treat.
Ok so our heros! I have to talk about Drake, Fenton and Launchpad! I love Drake for his balance of goofiness and heroicness. He's clearly a man who wants what's best for everyone and loves to be in the spotlight as well. Not to mention just how much fun it is to watch him being all goofy. He may have a child-like side and loves being the goofy hero he is, but he has his serious moments. Showing that just because you have a child-like personality doesn't mean you're not mature enough to handle serious situations. Just the way Drake comforted Fenton by telling him he isn't alone on this, to let others help him warms my heart. He knows Fenton so well and grew a personal connection with him. To the point where he refuses to believe Fenton is Gizmoduck. 😂 Poor guy is in denial. I feel bad for him because he's always in GizmoDucks shadow, which is why I screamed so loud when he and GizmoDuck shared the spotlight in the beginning of the fight with Steelbeaks. Great moment! And Fenton! I adore him and I love him so much more after this episode too! He was always the man with a heart of gold and always put others first. And they added even more to his character by making him such a romantic towards Gandra. I'm 100% sure she was on his mind throughout this whole adventure. Just the fact that he says it out loud that he wants to rescue her and his first reaction when they landed at the Lost Library was to rescue the prisoners was adorable. We all know he wanted to go save the prisoner's to find Gandra. Yeah I know he also cares for everyone else just as much but Gandra will always hold a special place in his heart. And then we have the moment with the two in the end credits. Just pure adorableness! Falling together, Fenton becoming GizmoDuck and catching her like he always does!!! Ah I can't help it! These two are cute!!! I also like how Fenton never did get to rescue her but it was Huey and the others that did and then she helped on rescuing the others. Breaks that whole damsel in distress cliche. I'm so sorry Fenton that you didn't get your shining armor moment, maybe next time? Then we have Launchpad. That guy finally had his shining moment. He was so insecure about not being a superhero that he couldn't see he was the one that inspired Fenton and Drake to become heros. That moment was so sweet and the fact that Launchpadpad became Gizmoduck was what made it perfect. And I loved how he crashed the suit too. 😂 and even the Gizmo Suit has an attitude "Eh, close enough."
Then we have the kids. Each one had their moment and I loved it. Violet was under used I'll admit, just wish they used her more. Like her woodchuck knowledge or her book smarts to find their way out of a maze, open a certain door to another room or help Lena out. Lena had her moment as well, making the airplane invisible showing just how powerful she has become. And let's consider that she nearly got killed by Phantom Blot in the first battle but this time she was able to battle him much better. Friendship really is her magic. Boyd is my favorite! I just love how him being just a head didn't even bother him one bit. Instead, Lil Bulb just uses his body to create a bobblehead Boyd. Let's not forget that "Take care of your brother." line. That one line made my heart sing. Louie was very realistic, "That is not at all comforting. I do not want to die." and he was also the same sharp boy we all know and love. I love the scene where he's pep talking Dewey into winning the battle against Don Karnage. And then we have Dewey flying the Sun Chaser by himself, fully embracing his talent. I'll talk about Huey and Webby later. Scrooge, Donald and Della also had their moment to shine as the original three! Loved it so much, just watching these three fight one last battle together was enough to almost make me cry. Beakly also had her moments like getting the chance to tell Webby the truth, even though it was a trick. I love how she wanted to make sure everyone was safe and went to fight F.O.W.L on her own only to learn her lesson near the end. The lesson that she can't keep secrets forever and she has to have trust in her family in order to win. And sure enough this lesson came from her oldest friend Scrooge Mcduck.
The humor was also the best! I loved the fact that Manny is actually some world ending monster and what does he have to say? "People change man! I just want to live a normal life!" 😆 I never expected Manny to talk let alone his voice sounding like that. And then we have the Gargoyles reference "I live again!..... Again!" Loved that, gold right there. Then we have Von Drake who admits that he isn't dead all because he doesn't have time to die! Oh if only life were that easy! Gyro was comedy gold as well with his line "When they do something right, they're heros! When things get too hard, we're children!" 😂 Love you Gyro!
Ok so one thing I have an issue with. You all know what it is so I'll make it as short as possible. Webbys backstory. I didn't like it. I have no issue with her being a clone and that Beakly found her, but Scrooge's daughter? It was unnecessary and here's why. Scrooge was already her father. He took care of her as his own, protected her, kept het happy, and was a wonderful role model to her. She was already his official none blood daughter. Making her Scrooge's blood related daughter does nothing to improve her character. If they wanted her as a clone, they could've done something else. Like maybe she could've been the clone of a well known F.O.W.L agent that died or disappeared. So F.O W.L tried to clone that agent by creating Webby. Nothing would need to change either, Beakly could've still found her, took her in and kept her safe with Scrooge. Webby would still have an identity crisis thinking she's the clone of a F.O.W.L agent and is destined to be a F.O.W.L agent. If they wanted to add June and May in, then use that same reason. Cloning F.O.W.L agents and raising them to be the evil like them. Or what about this? Use Beakley's story about her daughter. How Beakley wasn't there for her as much as she wanted to and maybe one day F.O.W.L talked Beakley's daughter into joining them. Making Beakley regret not being there for her daughter more. When her daughter tries to leave F.O.W.L she disappears all of a sudden. But then Beakly finds a baby clone of her daughter (Webby) and she takes this as a second chance to raise her daughter again. I'm just saying, anything would've been a better back story for Webby other than being Scrooge's clone. And as for Huey, he should've been the one to find the papyrus. Branford had him in his grasp. He had managed to manipulate Huey into helping him, so why not have him grab the papyrus. He is a direct descendent of Scrooge so why complicate things by having Huey talk to Webby? They weren't even sure if the papyrus was going to show itself to Webby!!! HUEY WAS RIGHT THERE BRADFORD!!!! It was so easy!!! Kidnap Huey, manipulate him into helping, then lock him up with Gyro, Drake and Gandra!!! I'm not saying I didn't enjoy Huey and Webby here, I did. Huey using his woodchuck knowledge allowing his brothers to find him and Webby using the skills her granny showed her made me proud. I love seeing these two using the skills they learned while living in the mansion.
Other than that, the final was great and I loved it. I just wish Webbys background was different and more unique than being Scrooge's daughter. Oh! And the end credits were wonderful! I love how the poster was basically a foreshadow of it!
 8/10 I loved the finale!

betty
spencer has a recurring dream about her. in this dream, it’s y/n’s 18th birthday. his brain doesn’t know what she looks like past age seven, so dream-y/n has her youthful face on an adult body. her eyes crinkle at the edges when she smiles. she’s holding a birthday cake that’s covered in lit candles. there’s no indication that spencer baked the pink, sloppily-frosted cake, but in his dream, he knows he did.
she holds the cake out towards him. “make a wish, spencer,” she says, her voice sounding far away and warbled. “it’s not my birthday, love,” he insists, swiping some of the frosting and brushing it across her cheek.
she grins and sets the cake down on the round table in front of her. “sure, but i want to share mine with you.” she pulls out a box, gift wrapped in bright yellow paper with a large blue bow on top. he always wakes up before he can ever open it.
 he gets this dream once a month without fail. it’s pathetic, he thinks. he hasn’t even seen y/n in twenty years. he’s doesn’t even know her, to be frank. and yet he thinks about her constantly. he---and his therapist, of course---chalk this up to the abandonment he felt when she never came back. she didn’t even say goodbye. spencer thinks about this often, wondering if it was his fault. he wonders if any or all of the horrible things he’s been through have been his fault. his sick brain tells him yes, yes they are.
 often, when spencer thinks of y/n, he imagines her in some incredible life. a spy, maybe. he knows it’s unlikely that she’s a princess or bank robber now, but he doesn’t put it past her. he doesn’t have enough memories of her, so every play-pretend game they played as children supplements what he knows about her, creating at least some whole adult person for him to fantasize about. she’s become almost a fictional character in the movie of his life. he wishes that they weren’t estranged, wishes that he could know the real y/n instead of whatever caricature of her he’s created. even if she actually was a bank robber. he just wants to know.
wait. he just wants to know.
spencer is lounged on his couch, cardigan long tossed aside, tie long undone. he’s been home from work for a few hours now, an easy paperwork day cutting his day short. he takes half of a second to make his decision, then pulls out his phone.
 ------
“i need you to look someone up for me,” y/n says nonchalantly, flicking through a cheesy magazine. they’re laying on penelope’s bed, tv in the other room playing a rerun episode of “the office” just loud enough for them to hear. penelope has one hand in a bowl of popcorn, and one on her laptop scrolling mindlessly through some geeky website y/n can’t comprehend.
 y/n had seen spencer that evening on her way to penelope’s house. at least she thought she did. y/n was stopped at a red light, staring straight ahead at the crosswalk before her. living in a decently populated city, there were always fun characters crossing the street, and while y/n had once been in awe of the medley of people living in dc, she’d become used to it, and stopped paying attention. at red lights, she usually takes time to relax, letting her eyes glaze over before the switch to green and the restart of traffic. but before she could check out for her 15 seconds of a mental break, she saw a long haired figure hunched over a book, crossing the street directly in front of her car.
granted, y/n hasn’t seen spencer in twenty years. she has no clue what he looks like nowadays, but everything from his ray bradbury book to his lanky frame to his beat up converse was familiar. her eyes clung to him, desperate to catch a glimpse of his face, but it never came. and y/n felt like she was going crazy. of all the places in the world, there’s no way that spencer reid’s life path had taken him all the way from nevada to the exact same city she lived in.
but she didn’t have to wonder, or anxiously await the next time she saw the man by chance, because her best friend was a techy genius and no one could hide from her. y/n decided then, at that red light, that she’d ask penelope to find spencer, something she couldn’t even picture herself wanting just thirty seconds earlier.
y/n’s attempt at casually bringing the topic up is futile, because a.) penelope garcia is a very nosy woman, and b.)....penelope garcia is a very nosy woman. in all of the best ways. “who?” she inquires excitedly, halting all motion that could distract her from this very important conversation.
“it’s kind of a long story,” y/n says, closing her magazine and sitting up. she crosses her legs, a seating pose that indicates that she’s devoting everything to explaining this to penelope. “so, when i was really little, there was this boy…”
and the suspense is killing penelope. y/n’s launched into this whole story about blanket forts, and being young, and blah blah blah whatever, but she’s not giving up her male protagonist’s name. penelope has her hands poised at her keyboard, ready to give y/n a location, occupation, and criminal record in less than 30 seconds, but she just needs to know his name. y/n talks, and talks, and talks, and penelope, as the good friend and listener she is, doesn’t interrupt once except to ask a question.
(“so your mom was sleeping with his dad?”
 “yes! my own mother! i know, right?”)
y/n’s oblivious to the fact that penelope is on the edge of her seat, hanging on her every single word, just waiting, waiting, agonizingly waiting for a name.
“once, i even put jell-o down a girl’s shirt for this kid,” y/n laughs. “it was cherry flavored, i’ll never forget. my first badass moment.” she stops her story with a shared chuckle, and a silence settles over the two women for a moment.
“so, did you want me to find this prince charming, or…” penelope waggles her fingers over her keyboard as to emphasize her point.
“oh! yeah! his name is-----”
penelope’s phone rings, and they let out a frustrated groan in unison. y/n flops back into her laying down position, knowing that when penelope’s phone rings, it almost never bodes well for wine nights.
 ----------
“garcia!” spencer greets as soon as she answers.
“as much as i’m excited to hear from my favorite doctor-profiler-boy-genius, i wonder to what do i owe this pleasure?” penelope glances over at y/n, who has already found her way back into her cosmopolitan magazine.
 “hey, i was wondering if you could look someone up for me. i know technically it’s not ethical but---”
 “do you have a name for me, wonder boy?” penelope asks. she’s not waiting a second longer for him to spill, lest she gets trapped in yet another long-winded backstory.
 “uh, yeah. y/n y/l/n. she---,” spencer speaks, and is immediately transferred to hold, with a short and excited “wait!” from garcia. sure, she feels bad for cutting him off twice now during the short span of their phone call, but this? this is major.
 “y/n, tell me his name is spencer reid,” penelope says, voice coming out rushed and full of eagerness.
 y/n’s eyes go wide. penelope was really good at her job. she got his name just from her little jell-o story? “yeah, it is, pen!” y/n laughs. “what’s he up to these days?”
 penelope covers the receiver of her phone even though spencer was on hold and couldn’t hear her anyways. “he’s on the phone with me! we work together! we’re like, super close! y/n!” penelope is emphasizing her words with crazy hand gestures, the clinking of her bracelets serving as enthusiastic punctuation.
y/n doesn’t really know how to respond to this information. “he’s FBI?” she asks, stupidly.
“that is so far beyond the point!” penelope exclaims. “he’s the guy i was texting you about earlier today, the one i wanted to set you up with!”
y/n, with a big goofy grin on her face, tosses a piece of popcorn at her head, watching as it gets stuck in one of her ponytails. “take him off of hold, penny!” excitement courses through her veins. she had seen him earlier. what are the odds?
spencer paces anxiously in his apartment. she’d dead. y/n is dead, and garcia’s trying to find the best way to tell him. that’s why she put him on hold, he knows. there’s a crackle in the phone, and garcia’s voice rings through the speaker. “spencer?” she asks, making sure he’s still on the line. there’s giggling on her end, pulling him to the conclusion that whatever garcia was about to say, at least y/n’s not dead.
 “yeah, garcia?” spencer says, too on edge to say more than a few words at a time.
 “i’ve got probably a million and one things to tell you about a certain y/n y/l/n,” garcia says, voice mischievous. on her end, there’s a squawk of protest followed by some shuffling.
spencer waits patiently, and then garcia’s voice is back. “i’ve got her right here with me, actually.”
 spencer, overwhelmed with nerves, hangs up immediately.
 “he hung up!” penelope screams, and the two women burst into laughter. penelope’s hunched over at her laptop, cackling.
“i can’t believe he hung up,” y/n says through her fit of giggles.
“you have to come to our work get-together this weekend and see him, y/n. spencer’s hosting!” penelope says.
“he clearly doesn’t want to talk to me,” y/n says jokingly, and they laugh again. not at the boy, but at the scenario. “also, no! no ‘get-togethers.’ you know i don’t do parties.”
 ------
 y/n’s on her way to the party. it took all of 15 seconds for penelope to convince her to be her plus-one. all she had to do is say the words “casual” and “wine” and y/n was in. she tried to ignore the fact that it would just be penelope’s coworkers, one of them being her estranged best friend, and her. at spencer’s apartment, nonetheless. it was bound to be awkward, but y/n tried to focus less on that and more on how excited penelope was to introduce her to spencer. re-introduce her, rather.
 penelope offered to drive y/n to alleviate some of her nerves, and y/n accepted graciously. neither one of them had talked about spencer since the phone call, except for penelope casually mentioning that spencer hadn’t brought up y/n to her at work at all. they’d all spent the week in limbo, then. the drive to spencer’s apartment is generally silent, penelope jumping in with words of affirmation every so often, if not to calm y/n then just to make her laugh. y/n’s leg bounces as she looks out of the window of penelope’s car.
when they arrive, after penelope’s parked, she turns to y/n. “y/n. you are colorful, beautiful, perfect, and every other nice word i can think of. everything will be fine. but if, by some odd, unpredictable chance, everything is not fine, say the word and we will be out of there faster than you can say ‘penny.’” y/n pulls her into a tight hug, and penelope can feel her heart beating.
“what if he just tells me to, like, fuck off?” y/n murmurs.
“reid would never. he could never,” penelope says. with that reassurance, they get out of her car and head up to the party.
 -------
y/n stares at spencer’s front door as penelope knocks. the paint on it is chipping, she notes. spencer swings open the door and hoots erupt through the apartment.
“garcia’s here!”
“hey, garcia!”
“babygirl!”
everyone’s calling for her, so she snakes past spencer and into his home with a pat on his chest. he’s stuck in the doorway and y/n’s stuck in the hall. neither of them know what to say to each other, so they’re sticking to intense eye contact and nervous foot shuffling. y/n’s here, at his apartment. he’s shocked. she’s real, she’s here, and here is his apartment.
 “you look the same,” they say at the same time, and then, at the absurdity of the situation, they laugh together. y/n, feeling empowered by the diffusion of the tension, wraps her arms around him in a hug. he’s broad, she notes. he hugs her tightly, holding on a second too long as compensation for the fact that he’d never know when their last hug had been their last.
 “come in, come in,” spencer says. as he’s ushering her inside, hand against her lower back, he speaks again. y/n’s acutely aware of his coworkers eyes on her, but she’s distracted by his voice. “did you know that we begin to forget childhood memories while we’re in childhood still? younger children remember 60 percent of early life events, and that goes down by 20 percent in just a year or two.”
 “hmm, so it’s weird that you remember me, then?” y/n teases as he hands her a glass of white wine.
“well, i don’t, really,” he admits, and y/n hums in agreement against the rim of her drink.
penelope calls y/n over to where she’s sitting and introduces her to the team. y/n takes notes. penelope never really combines her work and her play, telling y/n it’s to keep her safe, so y/n revels in this insight into her best friend’s life.
 jj, the pretty blonde, seems to be the glue of the group, y/n judges. emily’s guarded, but fun, and y/n sees a lot of herself in her. derek is penelope’s favorite, y/n knows, and it’s not hard to figure out why. he’s attractive, but more than that, he’s charismatic and intelligent. y/n can’t get a good read on hotch, but she likes him well enough. rossi’s her favorite, though, his laidback, cool demeanor just mysterious enough to pique her curiosity. y/n greets everyone with a warm hello and a short introduction, and finds her place at penelope’s side.
she’s out of place for sure, but the team tries their hardest to include her. they’ve got great chemistry as a group, and y/n wins their favor when she cracks a dry joke that gets everyone laughing. she can feel spencer’s eyes on her the whole night, but she doesn’t indulge him by looking back. she’s too nervous. he keeps her glass filled all night, a gracious host, and when she thanks him each time he gives her a shaky smile. he’s nervous too, she realizes.
 when people start filtering out, y/n realizes she’d hardly spoken to spencer all night, save for some light small talk with others. she’d really like to get him alone, but she doesn’t want to overstep. spencer looks at her intently when she stands to leave with garcia. he wants to get her alone, but he doesn’t want to overstep. be bold, spencer, he thinks. it’s just y/n. but it’s not just y/n anymore. they aren’t kids anymore, blindly bonded to one another out of convenience. there’s nothing tying them together anymore except for some flimsy memories, and this scares spencer. y/n’s also insanely beautiful. this adds to his nerves. it’s not too often he has a pretty girl in his apartment alone.
 “you can stay longer if you want, y/n. i’ll drive you home,” spencer says, his words surprising even himself. his eyebrows furrow and y/n wants to smooth the crease in his forehead with her thumb.
“okay,” she says softly, turning to penelope. “i’ll see you tomorrow, pen?” they embrace, and penelope says her bright goodbyes. when she leaves, y/n leans against the closed front door, staring at spencer expectantly.
“do you want another drink?” he asks her, unsure of what to do with his hands.
“no, i think i’m sufficiently tipsy-adjacent,” y/n jokes, placing her hands decidedly on spencer’s shoulders. “i think you and i should talk.”
“yeah,” spencer replies, his amber eyes searching hers. “we can sit outside.” he leads her to his balcony, and takes a seat on his outdoor couch.
“it looks like it might rain,” y/n says lamely, sitting next to him, close enough for their thighs to touch.
“did you know women are more likely to give a man their phone number on a sunny day rather than a cloudy one? there’s only a 14% success rate when it’s rainy, as opposed to a 22% success rate when the sun’s out.”
“that’s interesting, spencer. were you planning on asking for my number?” y/n asks jokingly. spencer flushes at the question, stammering a defense. “just kidding. you sure do know a lot of stuff, don’t you?”
“sure,” he says with a bite of his lip. “i have three phds. what i don’t know, though, is where you went when you left vegas. or why you left vegas. or…”
“or why i didn’t tell you i was leaving?” y/n finishes for him. he gives a small nod, embarrassed to admit how much it affected him, and y/n frowns. she lays the palm of her hand against his face, rubbing her thumb against his cheekbone. spencer’s taken aback by the affectionate action, but leans into her touch anyways. y/n holds that position for a minute, surveying his features. she’s not ready to tell him the story, honestly. it’s humiliating. save from the fact that her mom essentially ruined his parents’ marriage; she didn’t know the nature of spencer’s relationship with his father now. for all she knows, it’d done a complete 180 in the past 20 years, and she’d ruin everything with her anecdote. no, she couldn’t risk this. spencer looked too pretty under the moonlight, was too nice to her tonight.
“would you be mad if i didn’t want to talk about that yet?” she asks, tracing her finger down the bridge of his nose. spencer feels a little relieved by this. he’s prepared for that conversation to be a heavy one, prepared for her to say she left because of him. because he wasn’t good enough for her. he doesn’t think he can handle that confirmation tonight, so he welcomes the change in subject.
“can we just...start over?” spencer says.
 y/n nods. “hi, i’m y/n,” she holds her hand out to shake, finally removing it from against his face. spencer takes it with a small smile.
“i’m spencer,” he replies. they sit in silence for a while, watching the stars. the moment is long, but it feels like they’re suspended in time. like the cars and people underneath them have come to a standstill. spencer reckons y/n’s always had that effect on him, but the hustle of the city disappearing around him makes it much more pronounced.  spencer steals a quick glance at her. she looks so serene. he wonders if she’s thinking as much as he is, or if she’s simply appreciating the city sounds and night air.
“are you thinking as much as i am?” y/n pipes up, breaking the silence.
spencer shakes his head incredulously with a chuckle. “you took the words right out of my mouth.”
y/n turns to face him, pulling her knees to her chest. “tell me a story. like you used to.” when spencer’s gaze meets hers, y/n’s hand moves to tuck a piece of his hair behind his ear, the movement nearly involuntary. there’s a low rumble of thunder, but it sounds far away.
“okay,” spencer says, neither one of them breaking eye contact. he remembers her eyes being much more vibrant, but he likes the true hue better. and whenever she thought of him, y/n had always imagined glasses, like when he was a child, but being able to see his face clearly is so much better.
“actually,” y/n starts. she finishes her statement by pressing her lips against spencer’s firmly. he threads his hands through her hair and pulls her closer to him, letting out a soft moan. the kiss is passionate, but not lustful. it’s gentle and full of energy. y/n nips at spencer’s bottom lip. he tastes like sangria. his hand travels to the side of her face, thumb rubbing against her cheek slowly. he kisses her like she's oxygen and he’s never had a breath of fresh air in his life.
after a minute, y/n pulls away slowly, resting her forehead on his. “okay, now you can tell me a story.”
spencer presses another chaste kiss to the corner of her mouth. “how do you expect me to remember anything right now?”
y/n grins, pulling away from their intimate position and turning to face the stars. “i can wait. i’ve got all night.”

Can you do a little text with your opinion about the Volturi members? What you like and dislike, they personality, they story... Would be interesting! Kissessss and have a great day! 💜
Imma have a little fun and throw the very young me into the mix to. Let's see child me vs adult me's opinions on the Volturiiii.
Fun fact: I wasn't team Volturi until I was like fifteen. Before that I was team edward... I don't want to talk about that 🤔😒
Also I'm a sucker for villains. If it isn't obvious already, I like the villains more than the heroes. (We all love a bad boy though, don't we?--- TIK TOK NOW IS NOT THE TIMEE.)
So everything i say is just my opinion and should be taken just as that.
Aro: Younger me was like "this...is a terrible person. There really is no need to expand on this." However adult me has been like "GUYS this guy is possibly the SCARIEST character. This man rips off heads AND SMILES ABOUT IT." He gives me child snatcher vibes (from the movies in particular). I thoroughly enjoy the power hungry persona. He's really fitting to be the puppeteer behind the Volturi. Even if he makes it seem it's a group effort with himself, Marcus and Caius. Realistically, Aro gets what he wants and isn't afraid to do what it takes to get it...sorry Didyme. What's even darker about it, WHICH I LOVE, is that he isn't heartless. Smeyer wrote that Aro genuinely loved his sister. It's all good to have a character that's a evil heartless monster but what's more terrifying to me is the ability for someone to do evil despite their love and emotions. It doesn't hold them back and that's what I find particularly frightening now that child me didn't comprehend. Micheal Sheen, from what I remember of his interview years ago, played on the idea that vampires of Aro's age kinda begin to lose their mind. Which, hell freaking yes. However there is one thing I hate for Aro's character that happened in the movies. Breaking dawn part 2. That fucking laugh. Don't get me wrong, hilarious. I can't not laugh but for his character I felt it was too 'hey hey I'm a crazy man hehe'. It was a but too much, even for an eccentric Aro. However, I'm not to mad at it because again, it was funny to watch. I thoroughly enjoy the ‘friendship’ Aro and Carlisle share and i love that it is ‘maintained’ throughout the books. I think it’s just a really nice detail. (I love lore. I am a sucker for it.) The one thing that didnt sit right with me is Aro marrying someone so that he wasnt the alone one whilst his co-leaders were very much in love? Was a little off for me but i suppose that just adds to the character.
Caius: child me would shrink into the seat because what did I do to this man? High key still think I wouldn't want to be Caius' child because imagine doing something wrong and you get that glare? No thank you! Scary angry man. As an adult... "He's an angry boi but...DAYUM WHY IS HE SUDDENLY SO HOT?" Just...don't get angry with me. You'll get annoying real quick and you're too pretty for that. I enjoy the taking-no-shit attitude he has but felt it could have been a little more prominent in BDP2 where Aro asks if Caius' is challenging him. I full believe Caius to an extend would be like "yes, yes I am. Don't be an idiot Aro. Use that braincell!" Which is why I adore the meme vibes I see every now and then of Caius hating Carlisle because why does Aro love that blonde so much? CAIUS HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT LOYAL-- Anyways, I can totally get why Aro wants him on his team. Caius is so angry and has so much hatred that he’s a good asset to the coven, even if not having a special ability.I do find it hard to imagine that Caius is a century older than Aro though. Although I cant picture him over forty years old lol. Although i do personally enjoy the whole Caius x Athenodora route. IT’S TRUE LOVE! Okay so maybe thats a little dramatic but its better than Aro’s lmao.
Marcus: movie Marcus is absolutely not nineteen years old and that's just a fact. If anything, he's the forty year old one lmao. Child me couldn't care about this man. He was the man who said nothing and slumped on a throne. That was Marcus. That was his character summed up. Then adult me rolled in and OMG NO DON'T DO THIS TO THIS SWEET MAN. LET HIM BE IN LOVE. As an adult i definitely became more attached. I feel like i was too young back then to get why Marcus was in the Volturi. He seemed very out of place and like a filler co-leader more than anything. However as i’ve gotten older (and written for him), I recognised that's the point. That’s Marcus’ evident grief. He isn’t there by choice and losing Didyme caused him to fall out of line with the coven. He’s lost point or purpose. Almost like its become meaningless because the love of his life was gone and he couldn't save her.So what was the aims of the Volturi to protect vampire kind when they couldn’t protect their own? He couldnt protect her. I had never heard of anything like bond identification and once i had- i was shook, like it became clear why he had been so necessary in the first place. That really is handy to understand everyones bonds in a coven, he could direct Chelsea and the two alone could destroy covens by bonds alone. Marcus makes the Volturi more realistic in a lot of ways. Like in a family, there is the happy times, goofy people like Felix, the twins representing a close bond. Afton and Chelsea, love that cant be divided. The list really goes on. Marcus represents love and heartbreak, pain, loss grief, the sad moments every family goes through. In that way he makes the coven seem less invincible, a group of people who at the end of the day, have their own weaknesses and immortality doesn’t mean a perfect existence. Especially when, in my opinion, Bella fantasized about immortality and how perfect it would be. Even after her change, she waited for her happy ending because that was somehow guaranteed in some level. Which in the end, she got but not everyone gets that happy ending we all want. I also personally think Marcus is the most feeling of the Volturi, despite being apathetic. A result of heartbreak. It’s shown he can still feel more in his own ways when he voted against Renesmee being destroyed. Furthermore, he advocated that vampire hybrids were a lot like vampires. He made that relation openly before anyone. Its almost as though losing Didyme helped him value a life?
Jane and Alec: Child me thought these two were  badass...and that still remains in my adult life. It’s always been uncomfortable to me that someone so young is so sadistic and powerful. Jane is the older twin with the ability of pain illusion...yikes. Her ability was evident in her human life along with Alec’s. His gift is sensory deprivation and these two were my favourites in the whole Saga. Still kind of are if im honest. I thoroughly enjoy the twins backstory. It has the most detail. I have a tag for the twins. Canon!twins is the tag for the twins in their book age. Unless this tag is present, the twins have been aged up :). They are very much canon but I put a bit more emphasis on tantrums. If they get angry, they both have tantrums. So whilst (unless tagged) they aren't children they can be very childish and these tantrums are pretty deadly. They’re also very possessive? I dont even know if thats the right word i’m looking for in all honesty. Lets say they get very attached if they like you. These two are probably the most secluded out of the whole Volturi.
Felix: Felix! High ranking guard due to strength and speed. I am a major supporter of Felix being a gladiator when he was human. He as a lighter grey cloak meaning he isn’t as high ranked but is so good at what he does that he’s been kept for centuries...and a lot of them. Personality? FINALLY, WE’VE GOT ONE WITH PERSONALITY!! (Im writing these out of order and i’ve just finished a chunk of Volturi members who have personalities as invisible as Afton.) Flirtatious and Light hearted, we love flirtatious and light hearted! Basically a comedian! Helllll yes, keep it going! Extremely vicious and highly aggressive? You know what? I still like it. He wouldn’t be a Volturi without a dark side. Cold blooded murderer. Yes. 10/10. Finally, someone Smeyer seems to actually care about. He flirted with Bella a couple of times in the books and i was FOR IT ALL THE WAY. I was very sad i saw none of it in the movies but im used to heartbreak by now. Im in this fandom after all. We were robbed of a lot. Strongest vampire in the world? I believe you, he’s also a hecking treeeeee. HE DO BE A TALL BOI. He actually makes Demetri look small and that’s still hilarious to me. Demetri is actually tall. However, if it isnt obvious we clearly traded backstory for personality. I cant get both smh. So...as i said before I fully believe Felix was a gladiator back in the day, hence his physique and height and excellent fighting abilities he has even as a vampire but then it kind of ends. I will say from the dawn of time, i don’t think Felix is the most academic man, just because of his era. I also think majority of the Volturi couldn’t read of write in their human lives and had to learn much older, most learning as vampires. Felix was one of these vampires, Although even now he isnt the most great at it. Then a wonderful writer known as @wallwriterstuff included it and now it’s canon in my eyes. I fully believe Felix is a slow reader and writing isn’t his strong suit either. Wallwriter also includes the possibility that Felix could be dyslexic which im all for too. For a very long time i’ve considered writing a dyslexic reader with the Volturi but have always hesitated because i don’t have it and wouldn’t want to upset someone for any misunderstandings or inaccuracies. However what i will say is that i think vampires would be the most understanding to humans with dyslexia. Learning things like that in later development or as an adult is difficult and they wouldnt think any less of you for struggling with reading, writing, numeracy- you name it. You’ll probably find they’re with you in the struggle at least half of the time. He’s also the goofball of the Volturi, even though he’s not really a goofball in our eyes, he’s the closest to a goofball out of the whole Volturi ...Emmett beats him in the Goofball wars.
Demetri: Oh yeah, it's Demetri's turn! So Demetri was previously in Amun's coven. When Chelsea gave him the old razzle dazzle...I've said Chelsea's gift so many times at this point it's getting old. I have two characters left after Demetri 😂😂 Anyway, with that Demetri was like "welp, I'm in the Volturi now." And now that they had a better tracker the previous one was kicked out. He isn’t much of a talker, polite and formal. He’s elegant (more graceful than i could ever be) and charming...yeah he is, you can say that AGAIN. He is also very calm, when next to Felix, i think everyone is calm but you know, we’ll say he’s a very calm person. I like how he was originally in the Egyptian coven with Amun. Given Amun’s goals this a pretty nice detail. NOW LETS GO TO MY VERSION. He’s very charming, calm, polite, formal and even a lil’ but quiet, i kept him pretty canon because he actually had a description to go on :))))))))))  Moving on. Demetri can be a very successful flirt when he wants to be and does have a Casanova reputation. However beyond the charming Volturi guard who has a brutal side like the rest of them, he has a chewy centre, deep down. I added that he had a child in his human life, one he doesn’t remember and very few people know about. He remembers that they died of an illness very young (around six?) but can’t remember what they look like. For that reason he doesn’t like talking about his child, he feels awful he doesn’t remember them and the loss still hits a pang in his chest.
Heidi: Alright im ready for this one! Child me didn’t necessarily enjoy Heidi? I was rather passive about her. It was all ‘pretty vampire used for her looks’ in my eyes back then and i was never comfortable with that. I’ll get into my take on Heidi in a moment, roll on the backstory!  So Heidi knew Victoria as they used to be coven mates and we’re going to continue on as though Heidi didn’t care when she was killed? Like...its genuinely a burning question in my mind! If she didn't care, could that show the extent of Chelsea’s power in action!? (can we tell im enthusiastic about this coven yet?) It’s quite smart to have someone lure in prey. I wont lie, Heidi has quite the badass role in the coven. I wouldn't have thought about that I reckon. I’ve always thought that showed a kind of superiority. Oh you guys need to hunt your prey? pfft, ours literally comes to us. Her backstory really starts with Heidi being mistreated in her human life...a common theme Smeyer has. It can get old- i wont lie but when i give it some thought it kind of makes sense. Rosalie said it herself in eclipse, if any one of them had their happy ending, they’d be six feet under but i’d love a little bit more creativity. I could go on about how male vampires ended up being changed in comparison to female vampires but i’ll swiftly move on because that’s a whole other thing alone. Heidi was changed out of pity. (Which kinda infuriates me just to type, a pity change? Really? Really Hilda? we’ll see why it annoys me when i explain my take on Heidi.) Heidi was happy in her coven with Hilda, Victoria etc, which is hell yes. We love that. This is around the time she discovered her gift. Vampires were attracted to her and humans fell prey to her easily. Yup okay. I’ll take that. After a newborn vampire caused ‘too much attention’ Aro spared Heidi and Chelsea used her gift on Heidi. Nice, very nice aaaaand that’s where it stops and im left hanging.  Personality time with Smeyer! Lets goooo.  From what i remember and can find- she didn’t fucking have one. Apparently being pretty is enough for everyone.  Which in hindsight, fair enough on a human Bella’s perspective, its literally Heidi’s gift to lure you in no matter what. She could tell you she’s a serial killer (and technically is lmao) and is about to sell your kidneys on the black market as to which you’ll be like ‘sign me the fuck up, want my liver too? Here, let me lie on the table for you. I’m down.’ without even realising what just happened. But even beyond that...Heidi has no personality traits mentioned. In New Moon she appears to be a little flirty which im all for, why the hell not? But...thats it? Thats all I get? Then we get into fanfictions, because i read them growing up. Heidi was depicted as flirtatious, promiscuous and then it varied between manipulative or she wasnt very smart. Which i’m knocking absolutely no one for. I think you can get a badass character who is incredibly dumb. I think all characters are actually valid whether they’re a genius or flat out dumb. I love them all. However it never really sat with me. I was never quite satisfied which i was fine with until i started writing for myself. That’s when i knew i’d have to really think about what my version of Heidi would be or i’d never be happy with my work. That and you also begin to fill in the blanks? The more you write the more you flesh out a character for yourself and so that rolls into my version of Heidi! So for my Heidi, she often gets the same trope of ‘she’s pretty and rich, those types of girls have easy lives who always had everything given to them.’ Then when it’s discovered she didn’t have a good human life. It turns to the next assumption of ‘oh she’s pretty and stupid enough to be used and manipulated’. In a lot of ways, that’s what Heidi wants everyone to think. Underestimate her, please, its all the easier to manipulate you if you do.  She’s actually very smart and her rough human life made her more tough and intelligent. She’s very manipulative and yes she’s very flirty. You can look but you cant touch! She enjoys the attention her beauty gets her but if only these people would care more about what she’s like as a person. She’s not a barbie doll she will play you if she needs to. The only one who’s actually gotten far enough to sleep with Heidi is Demetri and even then the two don’t see each other romantically. They’re good friends who thinks the other is very attractive but that's where it ends. They’re basically friends with benefits some times lmao. However, Demetri got that far because he see’s the intellect Heidi actually has and acknowledges it. He thinks shes a queen who should be treated as such. She could take anything she wanted, a storm that people can only hope to survive in one piece.  Secretly she enjoys a family setting. Whilst she never really wanted children (especially when she was expected to when human), she couldn't help but melt inside seeing little human children with their loving parents. She wants that for all children. Whether that's because she lacked such affection growing up, no one knows. She’s also a really good friend, you bet she’ll have your back. Crappy ex? Well we’ll show them, wont we (Y/N)? She’ll be a bitch and enjoy every second of it. She also loves the single life, believe it or not, you’ll have more difficulty getting Heidi to settle down than you would Demetri which speaks volumes.  So yeah, move past her gift and really get to know her and you might have a very good friend.  I also don’t see Heidi having a preference between male or females and that’s in all honesty. Times have changed and if she is attracted to another female then she wont be ashamed of it. She never has been (Demetri was the first to figure that out, Felix may be the last.) Even when the times weren’t approving of different sexualities, she didn't care. She will flirt with you and find it ridiculously cute if you get flustered.
Tumblr media
Sulpicia: Sulpicia was an orphan which i used to develop my own version of her. Sulpicia grew to love Aro which im on the fence about but yup, i’ll take it. You’ll see what happens with my version in a bit lmao. and that’s where it stops. I get no personality again but do you know what we do in this fandom? We create one and fill in the blanks baby! So i write Sulpicia very materialistic and vain, she’s most snobbish of the wives and due to the other two, also considered the meaner one. She didnt have such things as a child being an orphan so when she got the opportunity to have it-she jumped. She isnt easily impressed and married Aro not for love but for immortality, money and status. (He’s only married you for your money, princess Jasmine! HE ONLY MARRIED YOU FOR YOUR MONEY! Damn it tik tok, but make it princess Aro) Which works well, because Aro doesnt necessarily love her either, he just wanted a mate so he wasnt the odd one out.He literally created her because he was like “Yup, you’ll do.” The two recognised they made a great team and image so they kinda grew to love each other? A little bit? Sure we’ll say its love...sorta. ANYWAY, It’s a highlight to Sulpicia being locked in that tower where she doesnt need to see Aro every little moment, it’s better than having a husband who she’d need to see everyday. ...Yeah my Sulpicia is something else lmao.
Athenodora:  Athenodora is one of the oldest vampires in existence which kinda has me shook but I'll take it. She met Caius when he was fleeing from the Romanians, the two travelled together until they met Aro. Whilst on their nomadic travels they seemingly became mates. That's all we know about that. As to which the Volturi coven was made. Athenodora is completely loyal to Caius as well as highly dependent on him and I think that's very realistic given her circumstances. That's where their story ends...maybe for Smeyer but not for me! 😁 So I picture Caius and Athenodora being different sides of the same coin. Athenodora really mellows Caius, she is no where near is violent and sadistic as he is but due to her unwavering loyalty and dependency, she doesn't feel inclination to go against him...also because of Chelsea and Corin but I've said that so many times in this post I think we get the point. I think she's actually more gentle and soft spoken but that being said. She is very reserved and if she were to be angered she'd very much change. She could cut you down with words alone. Caius loves it. However beyond this is someone who is very maternal. Caius would appreciate it more if the two had children but instead it has created empathy. Caius doesn't want that when he can rip their head off. She struggles a little more with the 'no second chances' and that's another reason why Caius keeps her locked away and away from it. These two love each other more than words can describe. After being through so much with someone, the love can only grow. The two would happily risk their life for the other. Caius is saddened that he could never give her the family she wanted. He knows that to this day, Athenodora tries to reign in that side of her. He's a very supportive husband who's very different around his wife. He's much more tolerant, and angry. Simply more at ease. If anything happened to Athenodora, to put it simply...there would be hell to pay.
Didyme: Married to Marcus and Aro’s biological sister. Cute, me likely, keepy going. Her gift was happiness induction. VERY ADORABLE- Dont be as menacing as your brother...please. She was born several years after Aro and was changed by Aro ten and a half years after he was turned. (Dont tease me with all this lore Smeyer, I know what you’re gonna do) Aro was deeply disappointed her gift was just to make people happy- its okay Didyme, we love you. Aro is just...Aro. Her gift made many fall in love with her and its so freaking cute i CANT- but she only felt the same feelings for Marcus. MY HEART IS SO WARMMMM. Unfortunately they were so happy together that they lost interest in anything Volturi and were ready to leave. (Uh oh.) Aro, being the sneaky fellow he is, was like “I’m really happy for y’all of course you can leave. I love you my babies. My best friend and my sisterrrrrrr, I am the captain of this SHIP.” but was actually like “wait, no, no, no, not my Marcus. D-D-Did-Didyme I NEED him.” Think Sid the Sloth from ice age in the first movie when Sid really wants the baby. So this man is like...gonna have to do it to em and murder. He killed Didyme secretly (dunno how he pulled the secret part off- like i know how he did it but how did no one hear or see anything or even suspect anything IT WAS LITERAL FRIENDLY FIRE but we love the drama so continue.) Ironically enough she was very close with Aro and the two actually did love each other, Aro is just...murderous apparently, to the extent that even his sister isnt safe. And that’s it. That’s Didyme. Which im like...alright Smeyer i see you. I like this and expanded on this with my Didyme.  i get the vibes that Didyme is the most innocent and kind of all the Volturi. Losing her meant losing the consciousness within the Volturi making them all the more ruthless because there was no one to say. “Guys, maybe lets rethink this? and quickly because i cant get Caius to put down the torch thats currently on fire.” Losing Didyme made Marcus mostly become passive and would rarely stop anything that happened. I often wonder if that provoked a lot of guilt for Marcus later on. (However thats a spoiler for something im currently writing...;) ) I also think of her as a major daydreamer and the most soft, gentle person anyone will ever meet. Like its difficult not to like her despite being in the Volturi, even the Romanians would have struggled if they met her. So in the long run...i hate nothing about Didyme, only find more and more love lmao.
Tumblr media
Corin: So im going to be honest and tell you i have no idea what Corin would look like. I’ve got nothing and when i was younger i wasnt even sure if Corin was male or female. Like a lot of these names, i had never heard of the name ‘Corin’. I dont write for her as of yet because im still trying to figure her out. I think she’s quite quiet, she lets her gift do most of the work for her in keeping the wives, Chelsea and Caius when he doesnt get to go on a rampage, content. She was brought in also after Didyme died but Marcus refused her gift.That’s all i’ve got for her. Her gift is amazing, pretty underrated in my personal opinion since like Chelsea, she really helps keep the Volturi unified but other than that, I dont have much to say about her. :(
Afton:  Another character i basically filled the blanks in for myself. So what we’re told is that he’s Chelsea’s mate and has the ability to disappear . Whilst thats a pretty cool trick...the volturi dont necessarily need it but they have to keep Chelsea happy and she demands that Afton stays so welcome to the family Afton! I also recently learned that if you hide behind Afton and he goes invisible infront of an opponent, you too will also be invisible. I figure that is until the opponent moves and basically changes their perspective but i could be wrong with that last part. That’s all we get so time for my unnecessary input!  SO AFTON IS A TOTAL SWEETHEART. He’s very shy but polite. This is a complete opposite to his mate Chelsea. It’s actually what she liked about him. At first is was just be flirtatious to the shy vampire but when she actually got to know him... she fell hard. It was also Chelsea who had made the first move since Afton was so shy. Of course she’d never say so and Afton would never want to embarrass her so that was never really disclosed to anyone who wasn’t around at that time. She brings Afton out of his shell a lot and it wasn’t long before the two were mates. Chelsea is the light of his life. Hands down. He puts up with a lot for her and is happy to do so. She could ask anything of him and he’d do it and she doesn’t even need to use her gift. He buys are anything she wants almost instantly. He cant help but adore her passionate personality, like how hooked she can get on era’s such as the 1920′s, her love for jazz music and her ability to gush on and on about anything. The two had what the other lacked and that made them an excellent team. I love their relationship. I cant help it. However, as i said before Afton is very shy and tends to keep to himself. Sadly that, paired with Chelsea’s demand to keep him in the Volturi has left Afton a little bit outcasted. All the other permanent guards were wanted and considered important whilst Afton...not so much. Although that isn’t to say the other guards are mean to him or anything. They aren’t! (Except the twins who are...the twins.) Felix and Demetri tried to include him a lot but it was very difficult to break him out of his shell. That doesn’t mean to say they wont invite Afton when he’s around. Chelsea always appreciates their efforts. Afton is notably good friends with Santiago, who often preferred solitude as well.
Tumblr media
(Guard to the left is who I imagine Afton is)
Chelsea: So supposedly Chelsea’s original name is Charmion? When i was younger i didnt really care much about her. I only really knew her gift and that she was the reason Afton was kept in the Volturi, since they were mates. From what im aware Chelsea basically wasnt in the movies/not identified. There wasnt much said about her in the books either. So since then i’ve kind of developed my own persona of Chelsea that could be completely inaccurate to canon but canon was my foundations with characters like these. She was always a red head in my eyes with ringlets, a copper kind of red head. I also pictured her to be small. However the newest addition to her character would have to be the mid-Atlantic accent. I blame Poppy Hill for this one. That character screamed Chelsea to me. She was very close to how i imagine Chelsea to be. So now Chelsea has an accent that i have no clue how she managed to maintain being in Italy so long and being born in Greece. LMAO. We’ll say she was very attached to that time. However, I think the time she joined the Volturi was actually very good for the story. She first came around just after Marcus had lost Didyme and Aro had her use her ability to keep Marcus in the coven. it’s really cool how she could really make or break the coven. Although, Aro was smart enough to not fully rely on her, using Corin’s ability on Chelsea to make sure she’d be happy and stay within the Volturi. Thats where the information on Chelsea really ends Over the years Chelsea has appeared in my writing and so beyond this point, Chelsea’s character is only my depiction.  I figure Chelsea is a talker, like she can talk her way in and out of situations with ease. She enjoys being manipulated and even more so, being needed.Much like her gift, she gets under people’s skin- not in terms that she’s annoying but more so she can figure out people very well. Her mate is the complete opposite and so she often speaks on the behalf of them. Chelsea is very social and charismatic. She along with Heidi are the only two Volturi members who will be out and interacting with humans if necessary. Heidi for her ability but Chelsea purely for her social skills. She’s also the most interested in human culture. She loves the parties- the 1920′s being her favourite era in terms of fashion. She has no issue changing her name and has done so multiple times when the names run out of fashion.It’s like playing dress up! I’d actually love to write more about her. I’ve really grown to love her character, even if i filled in some blanks for myself. I think she and Afton’s relationship is one of the best, up there with Carlisle and Esme- despite the two being very different. It’s a part of their dynamic!
Tumblr media
(I always imagined Chelsea to be a red head but Poppy Hill from THOHH is a very close depiction to Chelsea in my eyes)
Renata: A stressed little bean that lives on stress. I remember thinking when i was younger she was the big threat since she was Aro’s shield but now that im older i see...a stressed little five foot bean. I have no idea what she looks like but always imagine her dark hair tied in a tight bun, looking almost painful. Another who wears heels, like Heidi but she is very rigid just as she has been described. Her uncle is a bit of an ass considering he begged her to go with the Volturi so there wouldn’t be a threat. Dude, can you not just...hand over your niece? At least hesitate! Just like that, thanks to Chelsea, she’d give her life to protect Aro and...I have nothing else. Yes it does drive me mad that there are two named guards i know next to nothing about.
Santiago:So what’s known about Santiago is that he doesn’t actually have an ability. He’s just very good at battle techniques and fighting which is why he’s kept around. If they need fighters, they’re top three are Felix, Demetri and Santiago...in that order. Santiago is also much faster than a regular vampire (as shown in breaking dawn part 2- he caught up to Jacob and Renesmee quite fast despite the two having a running start and wolves supposedly being very fast- much like a vampire) That’s all we know of him so then i got in there and this is how I write Santiago. I gave him the background of coming from a superstitious family. Like he would be told tales of demons and witches growing up as well as things like voodoo. He knew an awful lot of urban legends and whilst he stopped believing in the bad luck his family taught him, he still held interest and couldn’t help the instinct of unease when witnessing such things as rituals. It’s ironic really. However Santiago always deems that humans have it all wrong. These forces are beyond human understanding and shouldn’t be played with. In that way, perhaps Santiago still has some belief in things such as superstition. He’s very secretive about it and would never clarify it for you. Santiago keeps to himself and can be quite standoffish. He can also be blunt even if it’s insulting- he doesn’t tend to care. Although he and Afton became quite good friends since the Afton was an outcast and Santiago didn’t enjoy large groups, or most people in general.

hey besties it’s me coming to do the waltmeme thing. I couldn’t just pick one character to call my favorite. it also felt unfair to do that as well when there’s so many amazing characters here. so grab a snack, put on your favorite tangled song in my honor and buckle up as i go through the list of my fave characters here at walt each person plays. present gen only. sorry to my next gen faves. maybe one day i’ll write a list for you. or not. i’ll keep you on your toes.
𝕔𝕒𝕤𝕤𝕒𝕟𝕕𝕣𝕒 𝕛𝕒𝕘𝕖𝕣
cassandra is a character i love so much. tangled is a movie that means everything to me. kiara is the person who understands my tangled feels. the way you play cassandra...like how you said i have a grasp on reagan, you have such a perfect grasp on who cassandra is as a character. her voice is so clear. you understand who the character is and have transformed her into something more than what was given in the bio i wrote and also in the show that’s used for inspo. she’s a spectacular character and i love her so much. it’s an honor to be one half of elssandra but also cassunzel. she’s such an amazing character. you should be so proud of what you’ve brought to life, kiara.

listen i told you every day how much i love monty. i literally scream it to you in your living room sometimes. i’ve seen every iteration of monty but i think this one is my favorite. i didn’t even know lightning’s real name was montgomery that was all you. so much of yourself is in monty. it reminds me of myself with wally and i think that’s the biggest reason why i love monty is because he’s bits and pieces of you and i love you very much. as much as i love cocky era lightning i love dad lightning even more. i wish i had a dad like him i’m not gonna lie but we’re not gonna unpack that on the man lmfao. i’m glad i’m more enveloped in his story now because he’s such a good character dude. like such a good written and played character. he’s second in my heart to sulley but is inching closer to number one by the day.
𝕗𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕔𝕖𝕤𝕔𝕠 𝕓𝕖𝕣𝕟𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕝𝕚
fran !!! my bestie !!! my fave !!! i would die for them !!! like bee, i love talking to you about fran and all the tomfoolery they get into. you’ve played them for so long and each time you transform them into something better than the last. they age like a fine wine. in the past almost two years i’ve been able to be part of their story more & i’m so happy for that opportunity. you’ve put so much love, care and devotion into fran. you’ve added so much to their story. like they’re so fleshed out, how does your beautiful brain come up with all this backstory ??? lemme know i need some of those brain cells. they’re amazing. you’re amazing. i want fran to buy me and island and make me pasta but i’ll just them do that for caspian the favorite child.
𝕠𝕣𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕓𝕒𝕣𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕝𝕠𝕞𝕖𝕨
hands down i had to put orion my future father in law. i’ve had the honor of watching you develop orion into something incredible over these past six years. ( holy cow !!! six ??? insane. ily ). he was a big bad, misunderstood boy and you’ve humanized orion. you’ve brought life into him and created such a beautifully crafted character. he has a heart now. perhaps a tiny one but it’s there. the backstory you’ve created for him and the future he has - all stunning and wonderful. i love this man. he deserves so much after the shit he’s been through. i’ve had the privilege of being in his orbit for a bit when i played logan. I still get to watch him and enjoy the light chaos he brings. i’m ready for the new era of casino owner orion and what trouble he’ll bring now.
𝕤𝕙𝕒𝕘𝕘𝕪 𝕣𝕠𝕘𝕖𝕣𝕤
the boy !!! the legend !!! i love shaggy so much. first of all, the future you planned for him. how dare you ?? do you like to see me cry ?? is that it ??? i’m glad he hit his happy arc now because WOW. pain. shaggy is just a nice guy, man. he’s so nice to everyone he meets. i want to be friends with shaggy and scoob. i love mystery inc. i can’t imagine anyone else playing shaggy but you. to me, you are him. he’s the heart of the group. it’s not mystery inc without him. therefore, you’re the heart also. it’s not the same without you.
𝕤𝕒𝕕𝕚𝕖 𝕥𝕖𝕒𝕘𝕦𝕖
i could easily write an essay about how i love all your characters and how you play them all so well but i had to give this spot to sadie. the teagues are my og loves. every time i see sadie the part of my brain where logan resides lights up. she’s such a good character. she’s a little devil and it’s exactly what we need. we need someone to stir up the pot and throw eggs at kids. sadie is a product of her environment. she’s so tough and had to be so young. no one her age should have to grow up so fast the way she did. i would like to wrap sadie in a blanket give her some coco with bat marshmallows and tell her to take a break. hug her. maybe give her some therapy to. i love her. you’ve brought her to life in such an amazing way. i hope her brothers join her soon so we can have that sibling goodness.
𝕟𝕒𝕝𝕒 𝕠𝕞𝕚𝕥𝕒
i was tempted to put ian here because ian lightfoot is joel and we already know how much i love al and wendy but i decided to show the og love so i put nala. from the get go you knew who nala was going to be and where you wanted to go with her. you always bring so much to your characters. you develop them in ways that amazes me each time. go bestie go you’re so talented. i love how devoted she. how fierce she is but also the vulnerability you bring to her. she was thrown into a world at a young age fighting a war she wasn’t meant to and THAT’S a lot on someone. and we see that. i love the way you play her and i’m so happy you decided to take her up. sorry you have to deal with simba tho. pour one out.
𝕘𝕖𝕠𝕣𝕘𝕖𝕥𝕥𝕖 𝕗𝕠𝕩𝕨𝕠𝕣𝕥𝕙
everyone and their grandmother knows the oliver and co cast means everything to me. i’m so glad that you decided to join them ! you’re a wonderful addition. i love miss george. she’s fabulous in every sense of the word. sharpay evans is shaking in her lil boots. i just love divas. i love them. i am one. she’s perfect. and we know that’s not easy for her. i know your beautiful mind works wonders so i know there’s a lot of growing that georgette will be going through in the future and i’m excited for it. prayer circle for a jenny and oliver.
𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕔𝕜𝕖𝕣𝕪 𝕓𝕚𝕟𝕩
when you auditioned for thackery you already had an idea of where you wanted to take him and how you wanted to add to his character while staying true to the bio. that is the kind of stuff i like to see. this man has seen some shit and also has been through some shit. i do hope one day his soul can be at ease. he needs a long cat nap. you care a lot for thackery and it’s lovely to see. he may be a hamilton hoe but we have to respect the drip & love him for it anyways.
𝕥𝕚𝕞𝕠𝕥𝕙𝕪 𝕝𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕪𝕖𝕒𝕣
timmy boy deserves a hug. a hug and a nice space movie to take the edge off. you always put so much of your heart and yourself into your characters. you care so much for them and that’s evident in buzz. he’s goofy, he’s cool and he’s just so wonderful. i’m excited to see where buzz will go from here and how he’ll develop over time. i’m hoping some happiness. maybe some resolution with woodrow just to spice things up. that metal arm is still cool too.
𝕕𝕒𝕡𝕙𝕟𝕖 𝕓𝕝𝕒𝕜𝕖
hey bestie !!! wow !!! daphne ??? gives me so much pain. I am so glad to be going on this angst journey of mystery inc and fred/daph with you. your love for her and the gang makes my heart so happy. i will happily spend hours talking about them and sending tiktoks to each other that remind us of them. you went beyond the assignment. you were just born to play daphne. you write her so well and understand her past the bio, past the inspirations of the live actions and mystery inc. you get her. you see her. she’s in good hands. i’m ready for all the pain she’s about to cause me.
𝕡𝕖𝕟𝕖𝕝𝕠𝕡𝕖 𝕙𝕒𝕚𝕟𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕖
i love penelope. i really do. i am penelope’s number one stan. it was discussed before but it’s so easy to play miss piggy as unlikeable since she is such a brash character but you bring so much light and love to penny. it’s hard not to be in love with her and want her to succeed in everything she does. she’s the miss piggy we all grew up with but she’s also special because you’ve added your own personal touches to her. she’s an amazing character. i would punch anyone who’s wronged penelope. i’m excited for the layers to start peeling back and we see more of penny - especially her badass ways. i just love the way you play her and i love penelope hainline okay. i lovoe divas as stated above what can i say.
𝕒𝕦𝕣𝕠𝕣𝕒 𝕔𝕒𝕡𝕦𝕝𝕖𝕥
ANNIE !!!! WOW AURORA ??? genuinely she is the love of my life. I love her so, so much. she’s so sweet and wonderful and deserve to be tucked in ??? read a bed time story ??? and not be cursed ??? why’d i do that. she deserves the world and so do you. in the short amount of time you’ve had her you’ve added so much depth to her story. which is not always easy the first few months you have a character but you’ve put in a lot of love into aurora already. you understood the assignment and & went beyond.  i’m so excited to see where she goes on her journey and what will happen when he hopefully get a maleficent one day. also is it an aurora shoutout without me saying philip loves her ??? bc he does.

Top 5 characters that live in your head rent free 🤔
For this ask meme
Oh god ONLY five??? GOOD QUESTION. This is gonna be hard to both decide on and rank fairly uhoh lets see, this ranking his shifty as hell depending on what I’m into atm obvs
5. Tsurugi Kamiya from Servamp
Tumblr media
Does he look like a knock off Izaya? Yes. Is he? Very much no.
Tsurugi is like my no 1 reason for getting back into Servamp, I left right in the middle of his arc and I ;-; IS HE OKAY??? DID HE GET AWAY FROM TOUMA??? DID HE BECOME WRATHS EVE??? NOBODY TELL ME I’LL FIND OUT ON MY OWN.
Servamp was one of those shows where I didn’t really have a fav main character for a good while until this guy showed up. This guy is an absolute crazy little monster I can’t overemphasize on this, his coat is used as a fucking straight jacket I’m not even kiddin
Tumblr media
You get introduced to him and he’s scary and terrifying because he’s so strong, like he’s one of those strongest in the series characters and since he and the heroes are on semi opposing sides he is a serious threat. So you get introduced to this guy who seems borderline crazy and feral and then...you get to see him goofing off with his two boyfriends and their kid and it’s just
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The domesticity!!!!Look at it!!!! It’s so fucking cute aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, they are so cute together OT3 of C3 ftw, MY SON. Like Tsurugi had a horribly abusive childhood and was basically raised like an attack dog and his previous partner :) well he do be trying to seriously kill him don’t he. But look! He found his own little family he can be semi normal in!! Until is torn apart by his abusive adoptive father figure :D!!! I ABANDONED HIM IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT ARC AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
im sorry this got so long on this particular character none of the others will be so long i just miss him TSURUGI ILL CATCH UP FOR YOU!!!! Maybe he should have been no 1 hbjhbjh fucking sleeper agents am i right
4. Izaya Orihara from Durarara
Tumblr media
Ah yes, the og queen bitch. Has my taste for villains ever recovered from Izaya? No. If your villain isn’t at least a bit like Izaya I’m not interested. Durarara was one of my first serious fandoms and Izaya was the first character I ever wrote for and I think you can explain me as a person if you consider Izaya was my all time fav at 13. I can’t really say anything about Izaya that hasn’t been said thousands of times before, I love how goofy and overperformative he can be, I love how there’s so much in him once you crack him open, I love how good of a villain he is for a messy story such as DRRR, puppeteer villains are really a league of their own. We need more puppeteering twinks, maybe then I’d be more into villains yaknow.
3. Hawks from Boku no Hero Academia
Tumblr media
To no ones surprise!Him! I’ve been drifting off from BNHA recently what from catching bad case of JJK what from just reading n watching more other stuff and honestly that’s probably good because I’ve been into BNHA for a couple of years now as my main fandom and I really could have used a break. Not to say I don’t like BNHA anymore tbh I think right now BNHA is the best it’s ever been just ya know, drifting. That being said my love for Hawks will never die, god what a good boy and we got his backstory too aaa ;-;. BNHA was just like Servamp, something I liked but didn’t really have a fav character in until this random support character strolled in and won my heart. God I love how much we got on Hawks. He’s completely different from his initial impression and his unrelenting strive to do good despite being thrown from one horrible situation to the next is just ;-; HES SUCH A GOOD BOY. He’s selfless to a fault, literally putting everyone before himself and putting himself down for not being able to achieve more than is humanly possible I’m just ;-; I WANT HIM TO BE HAPPY. He just makes my heart happy, he’s good and warm and hardworking and in a manga where trauma plays such a major role in so many characters it’s so good to see Hawks there, having been through three different types of hell and still coming out unnerving in his goodness. All I want for him is to have a good life and to one day be able to smile for real.
2. Gojo Satoru from Jujutsu Kaisen
Tumblr media
Again no surprise since I’ve been so into jjk lately. Satoru is p high up rn cuz I’m mainly into JJK now but god knows where he will actually settle. He’s not even really my favorite character in the show, that goes to Inumaki, but this is a list of who I think about the most (tho all of these characters are either no 1 or no 2 for their shows) and boy my brother and foxy can tell you I’m constantly thinking about this bitch. I didn’t really care about him that much at the start but then I got to Hidden Inventory and OH BOY MUCH TO THINK ABOUT. Satoru is such a wonderfully complex character whos evolution you can clearly follow through the years. He’s under so much pressure as the strongest sorcerer to deal with everything and he has to operate in that system trying to change it for the better while at the same time trying to make sure his students arent sacrificed in the name of that change. He has a very goofy disposition but along side with Nanamin who’s a lot more explicit about it, it’s clear he cares about mental state of his students a whole lot. He knows this world is terrible and that the will come out of it with scars and that he can’t protect them from all of it, but he balances protecting and letting them grow as much as he can. They need to grow so jujutsu society can change after all, but they also need to be protected so they don’t fuckin die before that can happen. This is without all the many many opinions I have on Hidden Inventory and SatoSugu as a whole, how they influenced each other, how differently they reacted to their shared trauma (Funny how everyone on this list is fuckin traumatized) and what resulted from it. How their fucking love story is dramatic enough to be a Shakespeare play. Also I like it when he’s long and goofy ahahah
1. Chuuya Nakahara from Bungou Stray Dogs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not to objectify men on main but I couldn’t choose a picture
If there is ever a day when I don’t go feral over Chuuya I’ll probably be dead. He not only lives in my head rent free he owns the place.
HES SO UNDERUSED.
BSD has such a great setup with Chuuya, like he’s ex partners with the mentor of the main character who got betrayed and abandoned when the mentor left shared evil organization. Sounds like grounds for drama right? YOUD THINK SO. Like Chuuya and Dazai have such a great and interesting dynamic and you can feel how strained it is from the distance and betrayal and they bicker and fight as their defining relationship trait BUT there is such a strong underlying trust to all the fighting. These two trust each other with their whole lives and that hasn’t changed despite everything, despite how much time has passed and how much that trust had been tested. So you’d think he’d be an important character :) HES STUCK IN SUPPORT HONESTLY HES STUCK IN BACKGROUND UNLESS HES NEEDED TO DO SOMETHING COOL AAAAAA. Chuuya is literally one of a kind, I’ve never seen a character with such a good design and such an cool power and such an interesting relationship to one of the main characters and such a love and support from the fandom BE SO UTERLLY AND COMPLETLY WASTED. Even when we get Chuuya scraps they rarely build on relationship he has in canon but just throw in new random ones at him (tho that’s a broader problem of Kafka throwing new characters at the plot instead of developing the one he already has really). We get a hint of a cool fight with him? Completely cut out, More often then not it just feels like he is benched because he’s so damn strong there would just be no plot tension if he went in and broke some heads (which is also a problem with Satoru, guys stop writing op characters if you’ll just put em on the bus aaa). Anyway he’s completly and utterly wasted by the plot.
And it’s such a waste because he’s such a good character. Like he’s a member if the villain organization and is obviously by that very vicious and violent but also so empathetic and kind to people he considers his friends. He and Dazai have the brawn and brain thing going on and stg Chuuya is like the only brawn I can think of that is classier then their brain. Look at how this guy dressed, he’s high class gay, hat, choker, coat, gloves, he is bringing in the looks. I love how he can actually be completely calm and rational and put together but then put him with Dazai and it’s back to ‘we are 15 and we will scream out heads off at each other’, they are so childish.
Anyway I love Chuuya he deserves to be treated better and I will never stop screaming about Chuuya ever

Jellicle-ho did this and now I also want to rank my favorite Cats. So I wrote this instead of writing about Sullivan.
Long Post Warning
To start with I don't hate/dislike any of them. The ones toward the bottom of the list tend to be ones I just think about less often, or don't feel like I connect to as well. Based on 1998 for simplicity's sake.
1) Munkustrap
My baby. Munk's always been my favorite from the very start. It's not just the hero thing, it's not just that Michael Gruber's a handsome mf, it's how he interacts with the others. He's so loving and protective, but at the same time so done with everyone's bullshit (when bullshittery occurs). And then there's the underlying anxiety issues we're all pretty sure he deals with that makes me just want to hug him. He just so clearly wants everyone to be happy and safe. It melts my heart how much joy he gets from seeing his tribe happy. Watch when Deuteronomy shows up in 1998, after he greets him himself (before which he steps aside so others can greet him first cuz he's a sweetheart), he spends most of the walk to the stairs soaking in how happy all the others are and being utterly overjoyed. Add to that his deep, devoted love for his father and how diligently he looks after him, his clear affection for his little brother Tugger despite being more done with his bullshit than anyone else's (Tugger don't touch the bagpip. Tugger no), his strong, tender bond with Alonzo and how smoothly they work together in a crisis, and his sometimes subtle, sometimes not-so-subtle crush on Demeter (notice that she's the only one other than Alonzo that HE approaches right before the Gumbie Cat and the only one he uses both hands to reach out to during that). Also his snark and sass, when he lets it out, is an utter joy. And I love the way he can assert his dominance with just a glance if the situation calls for it (watch him with Cassandra in Grizabella's first scene), but still rarely ever pulls rank like that. Overall he's a really fun character to watch for me, as well as to think about and (if I get around to it) write about.
2) Demeter
My other baby. (I'm so happy my two babies love each other). She's such a complex character. Her backstory of abuse and her current dealings with PTSD as a result are only the jumping off point. I love her moments of bravery, like jumping on Mac to protect the tribe despite everything she's been through. Courage isn't about not being afraid, it's about doing what needs to be done despite your fears. She's the most courageous member of the tribe and I love her so much. As for her relationships with the others, she has a much less subtle crush on Munk than he does on her, but she's so shy about it (and he's so damn polite) I doubt they'd ever get off the ground without a little help. She's so adorable in the way she looks at him, in 1998 she has a particular smile different from her other smiles that seems to be just for him. I also love her connection with Bomba, I feel like if she and Munk ever got off the ground it would be with Bomba's encouragement. Bomba is always there to hold her up when she feels small. While Munk makes her feel safe, Bomba makes her feel strong. So this is why Demelustrap is my OT3 thank you for coming to my TED talk.
3) Mungojerrie
Acts like a dumbass, is actually a genius. (Fight me). I love characters like this. Contradictions. Like brave strong Munk who is actually more emotionally vulnerable than he lets on, or nervous timid Demeter who bravely confronted the person she fears most. Mungo seems fundamentally clueless in most situations but I think he's just a carefree goofball, at least when the stakes are low. He and Teazer are both clever enough to get away with all sorts of mischief, and I don't think it's a "Teazer is the smart one" situation. I mean Teazer is probably smarter, but they need smarts on both sides. I also love how smoothly they work together as a team. Mungo ranks higher for those adorable "clueless" moments and for being a lovable goof.
4) Rumpleteazer
Acts like a bimbo, is actually a genius. To a lesser extent than Mungo in that she acts way less clueless than he does, and her antics are usually more obviously silliness rather than dumbassery. Would be higher but I just like Mungo's goofy aesthetic a bit more. I'd also like to take this time to note I do NOT think they are siblings. (Fight me. Again)
5) Mistoffolees
Another of those contradictions I love. He's simultaneously shy and showy, bold and insecure. He doesn't quite know who he is yet, but he knows who he wants to be. He's also adorable to watch, with his little hops and poses. His relationship with Tugger is adorable, whether you see them as mates or BFFs (both? both. both is good), and his obvious crush on Victoria is equally adorable (more NOT siblings!). The way he melts when she smiles at him toward the beginning of 1998 *sigh* so cute
6) Alonzo
Sorry @jellicle-ho I do love him lots, but he doesn't make the top five simply because I feel closer to Misto and the Chaos Twins (just an expression, not siblings!) on a spiritual level. He's still one of the best characters. He has his "contradiction" element of being cocky but somewhat insecure, and I especially love that he's just as serious as he is playful. He's also a slinky, sassy bastard and a blast to watch on stage.
7) Victoria
Woo boy. Okay first of all, since it seems to be a major factor, the contradiction element. She seems like a shy, reserved, almost demure young lady at first, but she's actually that quietly sassy serene girl at the Alpha bitch's lunch table, the one that's actually nice and doesn't participate in putting down the weird kid no one likes. But she's still gonna judge you. I love every moment of Victoria-sideeye in the 1998 video. And of course there's her whole side plot which basically revolves around her being extremely DTF, which is quite the opposite of "demure." Also her obvious crush on Misto is also adorable, the way she smiles at him, ugh like the only reason she danced with Plato instead is because Misto was too shy to approach her (also Plato has much better upper body strength so hey ho, hey hue, let's go Pas de Deux). She's also so very graceful and elegent and then there's her "omg why!?" flexibility which make her fascinating to watch.
8) Pouncival
Precious child. Precious little jackass brat. No but really I love him so much he's such a brat but also like he's tiny? And he wants to be cool sooo bad! The way he runs in for his "and bright!" all excited, I just can't. He has this sort of quiet, but enthusiastic demeaner of someone that knows he's not the star, but hopes to be, and he's bursting with energy in a pseudo-controlled way that I find more compelling than Etcetera's brand of enthusiasm. I love his acrobatics, whether they're super smooth, adorably clumsy, or straight up pratfalls. I love how 14-years-old he is. You can see him getting bored in that teenage "okay grampa you've told this story forty times already" kind of way during part of Gus's song. I love how adorably menacing he looks during the Naming of Cats. I just love the baby. He is very baby.
9) Bombalurina
She's beauty. She's grace. She'll smack you in the face. She's sexy and she knows it. She's such a confident, strong woman, and while she's the most overtly sexualized character, I kind of find it's even more empowering, you know? Like the idea that a woman can be both sexy and strong, she doesn't have to pick one. Bomba is walking proof that being strong, bold, and tough is not inherently "masculine," nor is protecting others. Don't get me wrong, I love strong female characters of all varieties, I'm not here to knock the tomboy trope, but when a strong female character is also sexually liberated it's just a different level of empowerment. Not just the deconstruction of "masculine/feminine" lines, but also in the "my body, my life, my choice" kind of way. Further, I absolutely love her relationship with Demeter. I personally support the mates, bffs, and siblings hcs because they honestly work so well as any of these (but as mentioned above, Demelustrap is my OT3, despite not always getting strong Bombastrap vibes). Her protectiveness and desire to comfort Demeter is so beautiful. Maybe it's the contradiction thing that I love so much. Strong, bold Bomba has her most tender moments when looking after Demeter. Idk. Moving on!
10) Rum Tum Tugger
He's beauty. He's… grace? He probably won't smack you in the face. He's sexy and he SO knows it. Tugger is walking proof that certain stereotyped "feminine" traits aren't inherently feminine, or to put it another way, he breaks down what it means to be "masculine." Think about it. Cares about his looks, beautiful luxurious long hair, wiggles his hips, wiggles his hips more, wiggles his hips when he walks, struts like a model on a runway, shakes his chest to be sexy, idolizes a cute boy, fashionable clothes (knee-bandana ftw!), all stereotypical "girly" traits, but would anyone describe Tugger as "girly"? Anyway, that's not even what I love most about him. I actually used to dislike him as a kid, but these days I can't get enough of him. Most of the time he just oozes positive vibes in one way or another, be it party vibes or laid back vibes. Most of his screentime in 1998 is such a good time because of that. He has such an energy and ferocity to him during his dance numbers, especially the second half of the Jellicle Ball in 1998. And then there's his quiet moments, especially the affection he shares with Munk while singing about their dad (omg the respect and affection he feels for both of them, coming from such a self-loving bastard it just ahhhhhh), and then after Deuteronomy comes back I just can't he's so sweet omg. Not to mention his whole relationship with Misto. Aside from the whole idolizing thing, which is adorable, he also is so supportive and encouraging. He just naturally bleeds confidence and good vibes, but he deliberately offers that confidence to Misto when he needs it. It's so beautiful and I'm gonna cry. I used to ship him with Bomba, but these days I hc them as friends with occasional benefits that like to place bets on how far interactions between Munk and Deme will go before one of them chickens out or gets awkward, and on which one will be the awkward chicken this time.
Wow I talked a lot about Tugger and he's only #10. Okay well, you folks ready to get controversial?
11) Macavity
I know I know, hear me out. I know most people interpret him as a total bastard with no redeeming qualities but like, I don't read him that way? Anyway I have complicated feelings about Mac but I'll get more into it in another post. As a character in the show I do really like him as a villain, I love his laugh, I love his "no look guys it's okay I brought him back see he's over there heheheh" gesture before he shows up in disguise, I love how show-boaty and "totally hyped for this" he is when he reveals himself, I love his "no wait please don't hurt me it's cool I'm leaving" gesture at Alonzo after the Jellicles start ganging up on him, he's just a blast of a character really, whether he's redemable or not.
12) Old Deuteronomy
Sweetest man you'll ever know. His compassion for the entire tribe is so sweet it hurts. He even feels love and understanding for Griz, and (futiley) tries to persuade the others to accept her, even subtley scolding them after the first "Memory" with his "Moments of Happiness." He loves his sons especially, and I adore every moment he interacts with either of them. He also can bring the sass, see his 'chin up' posture before Tugger bows to him, which I always read as them playfully teasing each other, or his little eye-roll when Munk gets a bit extra talking about the fire brigade. On that note, how into Munk's little play he is, even though it's going wrong. He keeps making encouraging gestures at Munk and reacting with surprise at the right moments (when Munk is looking at least lol). Anyway he's great moving on.
13) Jennyanydots
Jenny is that cool aunt that hangs out and has fun but also won't put up with your nonsense. She's so great I love her so much. She's honestly just a blast all the time I love her so much what can I say? I hc her as teaching Tumblebrutus how to sew. I don't know why.
14) Electra
Ah the "quiet" kitten. I read her as the tough tomboyish one of the girl kittens, and I hc her as sort of in training as a protector, and that's why she's more serious than the others. In 1998 she seems to look up to Munk, being the first to greet him before Gumbie Cat, and nuzzling him during Old Deuteronomy. 1998 Electra also has a lot of little adorable motions like licking her paws during Old Deuteronomy and retrieving the Peke paw from the middle of stage and than posing/playing with it during the Pekes and the Pollicles. I also love her freckles and her pink arm warmer. Massively underrated character.
15) Tumblebrutus
SPINNY. BALLET. BOI. Nuff said. But I'm gonna say more. He keeps up with Misto in ballet and exceeds Pounce in acrobatics, and as such is fascinating to watch. Also Brutus's struggle between his playful instincts and his desire to impress his elders is so adorable.
16) Admetus/George
First of all I first knew him as Admetus long long ago, and he will always be Admetus to me. Sorry. Second, omg this lovely, happy, wonderfully expressive boi. His face at literally any point in 1998 is such a gem.
17) Jemima
Speaking of great expressions, how bout Jemima? She's so cute and sweet! I love her whole deal of understanding Griz's pain and trying to get the rest of the tribe to understand. The only reason she's not higher up is because I somehow don't emotionally connect with her like I do some of the other kittens.
18) Coricopat
The more laid-back and playful half of the mystic twins. The twins in general are cool af, but Corico ranks higher for being more relatable.
19) Skimbleshanks
BUBBLY. TRAIN. DAD. Nuff said. Buttttt I'm gonna say more! Skimble is your best friend's dad that is always chaperoning on field trips but that's okay because he's actually pretty fun to be around most of the time. I love his cheerful expressions and his little jigs. His song is so much fun. And I love the relationship between him and Spara in 1998. More on that below
20) Asparagus
Okay so Spara is your other best friend's dad (or your best friend's other dad) who sometimes tries too hard to be cool and connect with the kids but that's okay because he's so nice and besides it's kind of adorable? What I find most adorable about Spara though is how hard he's crushing on Skimble. Like even if you hc them as already in a relationship, he really just can't get enough of Train Dad. Look at how Spara smiles at Skimble ALL THE DAMN TIME. He's practically blushing at multiple points during Skimble's song. And Skimble tends to gravitate towards Spara quite a bit, and omg that big grin he gives him during the line "sleeping car exprrrrreeesss!" I'm dead. In conclusion I need more Asparashanks content thank you for coming to my TED talk
21) Cassandra
I WANT to like Cassandra better than I do. I really really want to. But I feel like she's just so hard to get to know. I do enjoy her on stage, but as a character with backstory and motives she's a bit hard to work with. That being said she's by no means a flat character. I do hc her as one of the deputy protectors along with Alonzo, and more recently as part of the BFF power trio of her, Alonzo, and Munk, since Alonzo and much more subtley Munk are the only ones she shows any physical affection toward, aside from occasionally hanging out with T-brutus but we'll shelve that for now. I do really enjoy watching her though, she has some really interesting movements and expressions. And she does radiate a sort of "try me, I fucking dare you" vibe that I love a lot.
22) Tantomile
I have the same problem with Tanto that I do with Cass. I just don't feel like I know her very well. She is cool as a mystical psychic character, but that's part of what makes the twins in general cool. So far I haven't been able to connect to her as an individual without her brother, otherwise she would be much higher on this list. She's still cool though.
22) Plato
*Deep breath* okay. I don't dislike Plato. I just.. okay look out of the male kittens/young adults, he's my least favorite. He does have qualities that I really like, like how he's a shy reserved boy on the outside and a fiery passionate soul on the inside. That's cool. Also those intense expressions are pretty cool I guess. I guess I might have less positive feelings about him because everyone assumes Victoria's magically in love now because of the Pas de Deux even though they barely interact otherwise. Which is unfair of me to feel that way. I hc him as struggling with internalized anger and anxiety and having difficulty expressing himself.
23) Etcetera
I'll be honest, I used to find her annoying. This one's pretty much entirely on me, because she has a superficially similar demeanor to a girl that used to bully me in school. But since graduating Cety's grown on me a lot, not in small part due to her wonderful enthusiasm for literally everything. While less compelling to me than Pounce's quieter, more controlled flavor of energetic enthusiasm, her bouncy jubilance still makes me grin and giggle along with her, so that's a major plus.
24) Jellylorum
Jelly is your other cool aunt that worries too much about your safety but also has cool stories to tell and is always doing like art and stuff in her garage. I hc her as the tribe nurse. Would be higher if not for slight Karen-ness.
25) Gus
Only on stage for a short time but he shines. The way he starts out all helpless looking like he doesn't even know where he is and slowly blossoms into singing about his old days with enthusiasm, and then breaking down into tears. He's a great character for the scene that he's in, but unfortunately there's not a lot else to him, so he gets a low spot on the list
26) Grizabella
Oof. Okay so. I get it. She messed up. My hc is… well, complicated, but short version is she never planned on being a mom and has no idea how to be a mom, and so she just let Deut raise Munk and visited occasionally (ahem rarely), but she does end up later spending some time as his primary caregiver, and she fucks up royally, like massive neglect and mild emotional manipulation, and ends up emotionally damaging Munk more than if she'd left him alone. SO with this hc in mind, is she redemable? Idk. But the tribe forgave her so that's what matters. Do I feel sorry for her? Yes. Do I believe she honestly regrets her past actions? …kind of? Yes. Let's go with yes. Does any of this make her my favorite character? Not by a long shot. I have mixed feelings about Grizabella. I don't dislike her I just… don't know how to feel about her.
27) Bustopher Jones
Walking fat joke, but a pleasant walking fat joke. Wish we could have got to know him better than "that cultured fat guy all the toms want to impress." He's fun though. I love his expressions throughout his song, and that toodle-pip! is so adorable.
28) Exotica
Oh Exotica. Who even are you. We don't know you at all. I do like the moment in Old D's song when she's reaching from the outside of the crowd hoping to get to touch him, and he reaches out so she can, and immediately after touching him she drops her hand and backs away, which I read as shy fangirl overload flee the scene omg he touched me omgomgomg. So that was cute. Ummm. I wish she'd stop changing colors every three seconds so I could keep track of her. Other than that, I don't dislike her, I just don't know her well enough to like her.
Omg I made it to the end. Did I forget anybody? I don't think so... Phew, that was so hard! Thanks for reading if you made it this far! :)

Character War: Zoro vs Sanji
Trying to put my own bias aside, and because I’m bored here in quarantine, I was thinking about how I could fairly break down parts of Zoro and Sanji’s characters and compare them. I want to see if I can analytically decide which character is more well realised or well written (just because there’s always that rivalry between both the characters and the fans, you often can’t help but ask yourself these kinds of questions).
EDIT: OH, and SPOILERS if you wish to read this and are not up to date
Tumblr media
If the question was “Who’s the more popular character?” though, Zoro wins hands down, no contest.
 So, I broke the two characters down into categories:
–    Design
–    Fighting Style
–    Fights/Achievements
–    Coolness
–    Backstory
–    Gag
–    Development
 Design: Neither Zoro or Sanji have designs that particularly stand out to me, not within their own universe or in anime in general. Seriously, think of some crazy-ass looking characters you've seen in other anime and Zoro and Sanji simply pale in comparison. Heck, they pale in comparison to some of their fellow crewmates (Usopp, Chopper, Franky, Brook etc.) and over time their designs have probably been... how to put this... made more attractive as time goes on? Cause you know, you gotta let the female fans have some eye candy too. And with attractiveness tends to come more “normalness” (not a word but whatever) cause you can't go too crazy with the overall design in case it becomes off-putting. The only thing that really stands out for Zoro and Sanji respectively is hair colour and eyebrows.
–    Still if I had to declare one of them the winner... I'd have to say Sanji, just for his more 'unique' eyebrows. We've seen plenty of anime/manga featuring characters with hair colours that match every colour in the rainbow, so it's commonplace for someone to have green or pink hair and no-one really bats an eye. Peculiar eyebrows however are less common, although not rare (as far as I can tell), but for anime fans, it's something I think people still instantly notice more so than a character's hair colour. So.... point to SANJI! But barely, and it’s not much of a win.
 Sanji 1/0 Zoro
 Fighting Style: Again, neither a sword fighting style or kicking fight style is exactly uncommon, but I am edging towards Sanji's fighting style and I'll try to justify why, even if it is due to my own personal preferences. To me, sword fighting is often the go-to 'bad-ass' method of fighting, cause, come on, SWORDS ARE COOL (can't help but think about the overwhelming popularity of Pokemon Sword vs Pokemon Shield for example). Sword fights/fighters are iconic and that’s the issue at times for me because I feel like I've seen enough sword fights at this point, and not just in anime. So, while they're fun, their overexposure makes me appreciate something different a lot more.
–    To me, Sanji's style has a bit more 'kick' to it (oh yes!) and his reasons for using a kicking style are a bit more unique and interesting as well (being that he’s a cook and can’t damage his hands, the tools to his craft). His style is fun to watch, requires a bit more imagination when designing his moves, but it also has a strange kind of elegance to it which I appreciate. Not that sword fighting can't look elegant (Hello, ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’), but I love that people often joke that some shots of Sanji make it look like he could be a dancer which I find amusing, because it’s true. Plus, I admire the fact that he's the only Straw-hat that fights without either a magic power/devil fruit or a literal weapon (though he has now grown accustomed to the raid suit, so…). But, for the majority of the story so far, the dude has just used his legs and that’s it. And is the 3rd (or fourth if you count Jinbei now) most powerful member of the crew, and still impressively strong overall amongst a massive cast of crazy powerful characters. Also, dude can fly. Actually fly. He can fight in the skies, sing “Walking in the Air” and it would not seem completely ridiculous. So, people reading this may not agree, but, point to SANJI!
Sanji 2/0 Zoro
 Fights/Achievements: I feel that most fans prefer Zoro's fights as he tends to take on the second strongest villains of each arc (with Luffy obviously taking on the strongest), which is automatic epicness. I know some fans even argue that Zoro would have no problems taking on the strongest villains in Luffy's place anyway, though I would disagree simply due to the fact that if Luffy were weaker/equal in strength to Zoro then why would he even be captain? The guy who's gonna be the Pirate King can hardly be weaker than one of his own crewmates, it ain't right!
–    Anyway, Zoro's battles tend to be straight-up badass one-on-one feats of strength, while Sanji's can be a mix of badass and sometimes plain goofy (thinking of Sanji vs Mr. 2 here or Sanji vs Wanze). And I do think Oda makes it clear that Zoro is the more powerful of the two, making his wins a lot more impressive, awe-inspiring, and show how physically far he’ll go in order to succeed (man should really have no blood left in his body). For me personally though, I often found many of Zoro’s fights a bit dull, like his fight with Mr. 1 for e.g. (ha, ironic), and when I watch his big battle with Kaku, while I like Kaku as a character, I had a hard time taking the image of Zoro fighting a sword-wielding Giraffe seriously. Sanji fighting a wolf with a moustache often looks goofy as well, but at least wolves come across as a bit more threatening (unless you have been on a scary Safari tour o__O…).
–    Alas, I would give Zoro the point for fights simply because I know how much the fandom appreciates them and the effort he puts in, BUT.... as for achievements... Maybe I'm being sneaky with this, but for me, while Sanji's fights maybe aren't considered as iconic as Zoro's, his actions towards helping the crew solidified Sanji's usefulness to the crew as not only a fighter but a tactician, and without him at a certain point, there wouldn't be any epic Zoro fights to appreciate. Sanji's rescue of the crew in Alabasta was pretty damn awesome, the fact they wouldn't have even reached Alabasta in the first place if Sanji hadn't gotten a hold of the Alabasta eternal log pose is hilarious, his saving of Usopp and Nami in Skypeia, his enabling of the Merry to escape without being blown to smithereens in the Enies Lobby arc, it's all just undeniably awesome. And to me, just as equally iconic and important as Zoro's fights, sooooo... I'm calling it a TIE!
 Sanji 3/1 Zoro
 Coolness: HAHA! Ok, come on, I love Sanji, but Oda's portrayal of him can get a bit ridiculous at times and sometimes rob him of his dignity, whereas with Zoro, Oda really doesn't humiliate him that much. He's usually always cool and epic and never seems to leave a negative impression in the eyes of fans. So, no question about it, point to ZORO!
 Sanji 3/2 Zoro
 Backstory: Ok, maybe it's just me, but I don't think many are gonna argue that Sanji has the better backstory? There's just more of it, it's better fleshed out, it establishes his character relationships and motives far better, it's just... better? Zoro's backstory perhaps is still to be further developed, but as it stands...
–    Zoro = Wants to become the greatest swordsman because of a promise he made to his dead rival/childhood friend. Nice, but doesn’t feel very original or special. Where did he come from before all that? Where/who is Zoro's family? Why did he want to be a swordsman in the first place? Cause it's cool? It just leaves me feeling annoyed because there’s these gaps and things left unanswered within his story and I can't tell if Oda's even going to give us any answers! But with a possibility that Zoro is from Wano, maybe something is eventually going to be explained? Still, I feel like Oda needs to be careful he doesn't make a repetitive tragic backstory, cause I worry that at some point he's going to run out of ideas on how to make each new backstory more uniquely depressing than the last, to the point where it's gonna be a 'been there, done that' kind of deal. Or maybe he’ll actually reveal that Zoro has a DUN-DUN-DUN living mother. I mean, that’s rarely done in this series, so that would be pretty shocking.
–    Sanji = Born as a quadruplet (still so weird to me) to a royal family, kind mother but douche-bag father. Mother dies saving Sanji's humanity because said douche-bag father violated mother and children by tampering with them before birth in order to make his children into sociopathic weapons. Sanji grew up emotionally and physically abused by father and brothers because he had kindness and compassion, and the abuse got so bad that he was even locked in a jail cell with an iron mask on his face because his father was ashamed of his existence. Mother, of course, dies, leaving Sanji with only an older sister to turn to, who could only be nice to him in secret and laugh at him in public. He decided to become a chef during imprisonment due to his mother giving him the only praise he had ever received and he enjoyed making her happy. Finally escapes douche-bag family thanks to decent sister freeing him, but only after promising to never admit he was related to his douche-bag father, further destroying him emotionally. Next, the ship he worked on was destroyed in a tidal wave, killing all his friends at the time, and left him alone on a rock with little food and a pirate who recently kicked the crap out of him. Went months without food only to find out that the pirate he hated had given him all the food, forcing him to cannibalize himself to survive. And all this happened before he was just 10 years old. So, from then on Sanji grew up with a fixed dedication/appreciation for food, but a clearly messed up self-image due to years of abuse and being told he was a failure by his biological father. Not to mention the man who saved his life, while a good man at heart, kinda has a messed up moral compass of his own, and kinda f**ked up Sanji's head in his own way (seriously, Sanji can't bring himself to hit a woman to save his own life cause he can't bear disappointing/disobeying Zeff, the man who actually loved him like a son? Jeez).
–    For real, Sanji's story is a doozy, and Zoro's just doesn't compare (at least not at the moment). Sorry, but clear point goes to SANJI!
 Sanji 4/2 Zoro
 Gag: Possibly debatable again, but I honestly do prefer (and the fandom majority seem to prefer) Zoro's whole getting lost gag to Sanji being a looney tunes pervert (some of the faces Oda draws, I swear!) I don't mind anime perverts so long as they have some substance to their character, but Oda places ‘Pervert Sanji’ in some situations where you're left screaming, “NOW'S NOT THE TIME DAMMIT!” Some moments can be thrown off kilter by the perverseness and/or fanservice to the point where you're just left face-palming. Arguably, the same can be said for Zoro, especially with his wandering off and getting lost in Wano right before Luffy faced off against Kaido (not that Zoro could do much about that anyway if he hadn't gotten lost), but just how easily he gets lost is so ridiculous that it veers right around from being annoying and returns straight back to being hilarious because of how mind-boggling it is. xD So, point to ZZZZZORO!
 Sanji 4/3 Zoro
  Development: Once again, another debatable one. Too debatable! There's no way around it; some may say Sanji's ‘self-rediscovery’ arc in Whole Cake Island made him the better developed character (or didn’t develop him at all) and some will say that Zoro's “Nothing happened” moment is the pinnacle of character development in One Piece, and to me, too much of it comes down to preference and I find it hard to justify why one is potentially better developed than the other. Especially when there could still be further development for them to come. So.... yeah, another TIE!
 Sanji 5/4 Zoro
So, there it is, I killed some great time in quarantine with this(!) Maybe there’s more ‘categories’ I could have added, but with what I came up with, I really did try not to be bias here. I do think it’s important to have a character that can hit ‘all the beats’, deliver in terms of action scenes, comedy and the emotional hard-hitting moments too. I can’t help but appreciate the male characters who are more in touch with their emotions and show vulnerability, which is what I appreciate with Sanji, and why I probably don’t connect with Zoro as much as I’d like to?
Going through all of this however has made me think that I'm actually fairer than I thought I was. No? Yes? Close call anyway.

My Dragonborn, Tenara Aedaire, A former Thalmor who is now known for her pretty fucking ruthless rebellion against them
Class: Spellsword of a sort, only uses magic and summons swords. Beyond that, uses Mainly destruction and Alteration with restoration as as distant 3rd.
Age: 207
Race: Altmer. There were rumors that she had human blood in her because of her Black hair but she’s 100% altmer
Personality: She was once upon a time a complete straight edge with only a little bit of a strange and buried sense of humor. That was at least 50 years ago now.
Nowadays she’s far more outwardly goofy and cares little for others opinions about her (though to be fair It was never that much of a concern for her).
Though outwardly extremely friendly,outgoing and helpful she allows very few people to be truly close to her. She will usually push any who try to get close to her away and it takes a very certain kind of person to break through (i.e stubbornly kind).
She is always happy to learn experience new things and will go out of her way to see the sights wherever she is. Tenara is creative and constantly keeps a sketch journal of sorts, keeping notes on everywhere she’s been and everything she’s seen.
She is rather debaucherous as well, those new experiences aren’t always just new food or to see the sights, She will happily try out any drug or alcohol. She is also very flirtatious and will happily have one night stands or short flings with just about anyone anywhere she goes. She tends to leave a string of broken hearts, albeit unintentionally.
Even she can get annoyed by how over the top heroic she can be. She’s someone getting robbed and she goes “Oh shit” gets off her horse and trudges over to help them.
 Backstory:She grew up in the Summserset isles and was only about 5 years old during the oblivion crisis. It was of course a scarring time for her as the part of the isles she lived in was hit harder then the rest. She watched her father get burned alive by a flame atronach and was almost burned herself only escaping because her mother was able to save her just in time. She has ever since had a fairly reasonable phobia of both Daedra and Fire.
She was never close to her mother before the crisis and any chance they had of a normal relationship was dashed when her father died. Tenara would spend most of her Childhood and adolescence trying to impress her mother. (spoiler: didn’t work)
Not long after she discovered her own talent for magic, though she absolutely refused to touch any conjuration magic, she had quite a talent for destruction (specifically shock spells) and Alteration. Eventually when she was older she started to reluctantly use summoned weapons.
She was in her early 20’s when the Thalmor we know today, the Xenophobic ones that dispise all the “lesser” races of Nirn and would destroy Mundus as we know it if given the chance, started taking Summerset by storm. Her mother encouraged her to join and unfortunately Tenara listened. She didn’t really want to, if she had her own say she’d have run off and joined the house of reveries. But her mother was Insistent and she was young.
 She rose quickly through the ranks and ended up never doing much field work and rarely leaving the isles, taking a more behind the scenes position there. (To this day she refuses to say how important she was but more than a few of the really important members do seem to recognize her)
Everything was for a long while perfect. Her mother respected her, though if she was honest with herself She knew it was mostly that she liked having a child at such a high rank in society rather than any kind of maternal affection. She ended up falling in love, with scandalously enough a member of the lower class and they had a little girl of their own. It all fell into place rather nicely for her.
Things of course went wrong rather stupendously, as just because she was able to push her empathy down and ignore it doesn’t mean her husband was able to. He spoke out against the Thalmor’s awful treatment of….anyone that wasn’t an altmer really and it was tolerated thanks to his wife’s status. And when Tenara agreed and started to advocate for more fair treatment of the other races. That was when it became an issue. Tenara was competent, well liked, and pretty well respected. They didn’t want to lose her, but they didn’t want her to change anything.
So when her husband disappeared the message given to her was clear. She was to follow their rules. Not to try and change them,or else her daughter would end up alone. Her daughter was only 10 at the time.
So years go by. Her daughter,Ciriwen, grew distant but at least it wasn’t out of spite (yet) just the result of the usual teenage angst, a dose of trauma from her father apparently abandoning them, and her mother working so much and simply not being around. Ciriwen turned to her books and was very interested in history, with the 2nd era being her favorite and on the occasions she was left unsupervised (or snuck away) she would sneak off to explore the nearby ruins. (Tenara knew she was running off, but she was certain no one else did and Ciriwen never went anywhere to dangerous so she let her have the small rebellions). She was also was frequently allowed a look at far rarer history books and first hand accounts thanks to her mother’s high position.
As Ciriwen dived deeper into the ruins and into ancient history she was…distrubed. The history in the more modern books was wildly different than the first hand accounts and older history books she found. The story of Queen Ayrenn and the first dominion in the 2nd era had been twisted in horrible way. The more she dug the worst it got and the clearer it was that the Thalmor had been trying to rewrite the past.
She went even deeper and started to sneak into her mother’s records (as well as other Thalmor’s records whenever she got the chance) and found out even more. Of the goals of the Thalmor, of what they’d been doing. And she was horrified. The discoveries went on for years. It accumulated when she found out the truth of what happened to her father, that he had been killed for only slightly speaking out against them.
She was 20 she just couldn’t take it anymore. She left. Leaving a hastily scrawled note explaining at least some of why she left. She went to travel Tamriel and to stop these people wherever she could.
Tenara went into a panic and for weeks tore apart every file she could find to make sure that her daughter hasn’t disappeared in the same way her husband did. Eventually she came to the hard truth that her daughter had just left. Still preferable to being dead however.
She started going through her daughters notes and books and ended up on a similar journey with similar realizations. Even Tenara hadn’t known how much history had been changed. She thought it had just been a few simple smaller things that put current politician in a better light and the past would probably come forward again after they passed but what she found was a total rewrite. Completely rewritten speeches and manifestos and histories all the way back to.
When Tenara finally read through the end of the extensive note it was months later, and it had finally hit her how irredeemably evil the organization she had been working for for almost 100 years was. She knew it was bad but not like this. Not to mention how evil the things she was doing for them was. And reading through her daughters notes she also read her journal entires. Her shock and horror at discovering it all, including the truth behind her fathers death. It finally put Tenara into action.
A week later she took off after her daughter. At 130 years old she had finally left the Summerset Isles for good.  She would spend the Next 75 years or so wandering Tamriel looking for Ciriwen, always either just missing her or hearing a rumor that she was halfway across the continent. Tenara also did her part in fighting against her former comrades. And her eyes opened more and more to the atrocities the Thalmor had committed, some of which she had ordered or suggested and what it truly meant and was leading to.
She never forgave herself, and very likely never will. She will and will continue to do everything in her power to fix what she’s done and what she can’t fix, she will stop from happening again.
Eventually she figures that at this point, her daughter MUST know Tenara is looking for her, and at this point must be avoiding her. To a point Tenara accepts this and truthfully she never expected her daughter to forgive her, at least not fully she just wanted the chance to apologize. To maybe work together to fix what shes done. But she also realizes at this point, It’s not likely to happen.
She hears a rumor that Ciriwen is up in skyrim, she doesn’t really question it. With the Civil war the Thalmor had increased their numbers there that sounds exactly like the kind of place Ciriwen would be.
Tenara tries to follow but gets caught up at the border and ends up tied up on a cart ride to Helgan.

psstttt... have you played swsh yet? if yes, what are your thoughts on the characters?
Tumblr media
yes! I’ve played and I love it!
The characters are all so good, though I’ve only got Shield so characters like Bea and Gordie I don’t have much of an opinion on:
Hop: I never cared for rival characters aside from Trace in LPLE, so Hop is kind of bland for me. At least he wasn’t like the next one:
Before I move on to the long post response of my opinion on all the characters I just wanna add a bonus here first:
Ball Guy: A weirdo with a good mission. Not the hero we need but the hero we deserve. Thank you Ball Guy for giving me cool rare Pokeballs I’ll never use and thank you for giving me your card. I will frame it and hang it up to admire it with love. Bless you Ball Guy for cheering me on in your own odd little way.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Bede: I do not like him. Gary 2.0. tragic backstory doesn’t do much to change my opinion either. But it was after he was picked up by Opal that it kind of grew on me a bit and I think that was a really good choice.
Marnie: Adorable and sweet and is just a really good friend. She is confident and strong but a little shy and I adore her. so much. Where can I sign up for Team Yell to support her? She has excellent taste in Pokemon, too. 100/10
Sonia: I don’t have anything to say? Pretty cool though that she became the Professor in the end! Watching her little side journey of getting there!
Prof.Magnolia: Didn’t have much of a presence in the game and didn’t exactly do much. But she seems like she would be a cool grandma.
Team Yell: Just a group of people who genuinely love and support Marnie like some over excited parents at their kids first big sports game. They have good hearts but are often unaware of how they’re acting and how that is affecting the people around them. They got the spirit, but are just a bit confused.
Milo: He big beef and a sweetie. He has grown a bit on me after playing through the game. He is a very sweet guy and I greatly appreciate him and his genuine love and care he gives to everyone and his Pokemon and the wild Pokemon, too. His challenge was so cute and fun.
Nessa: She is pretty.. I honestly don’t know what else to say. She is beautiful, though she can be a tad rude sometimes, but who isn’t? Like a 20-something internet model celebrity and probably a pro-swimmer.
Kabu: ....I am shamelessly on the bandwagon of “Kabu is hot“ because he is and I can’t help it.. He is a goofy and serious fun guy who has such an amazing Pokemon that I worked so hard to get my own of. 100/10 would hold hands with him. His trot is silly and cute and I just can’t get enough of him. He is just a very genuine sweetheart with a fiery and childish spirit.
Allister: MY SON. I have adopted him the moment I laid my eyes on him. He is adorable and precious and is the only one who gave me a challenge during the game. I love this little boy and will protect him from everyone and everything. I will give him everything and anything he wants.
Opal: I have adopted this kooky old lady as my grandma. She is excellent and I absolutely love her. Back in her prime she was drop dead gorgeous and she is still pretty today in her old age. I’m just sorry I failed her quiz jfhfgadfgsf Her gym and her battle were so much fun to go through, I would face her again if I could! Has officially adopted Bede as her own grandson.
Melony: She is thick! And warm! and sweet! and soft! and beautiful! And her gym mission had me in a state of anxiety and panic as I ran through the foggy frozen field of pitfall traps to get to her. A+ mom, I want her to adopt me.
Piers: Feral mongoose boy. A cute punk whom has stolen my heart the first time I laid my eyes on him. I want lifetime tickets to all of his shows and merch of his, too. He was the best and I am SO happy to have had him join me around the region at the end and in the post-game. Absolutely beautiful man.
Raihan: Basic pretty boy of the region. Which seems to be a running theme with dragon type users? I have seen at least a few people call him an “e-boy“ and I haven’t the slightest idea what that even means... but he isn’t bad looking and certainly had the most bizarre battle breaking rules with having one non-dragon type Pokemon and utilizing weather conditions? Wild.
Leon: ...He has pretty eyes. And should have only been in the fancy outfit he wears post-game when you fight him again. He looks so good like that. Not much else I can say really.. other than I made my goal to end his career and I did just that with minimal struggle. Bet he enjoys his free time now.
Oleana: ...She is tol and pretty.. and I have a big crush on her. It’s really cute she has a Garbodor and I headcanon she babies and spoils it. She is dedicated to her job and doesn’t mind at all doing community service in place of the chairman. She is very intimidating but in only the best way. I love her.
Chairman Rose: He thicc, he good looking, he is a himbo. He has his heart in the right place, but is a little confused about how to properly go about things. I adore him and am pretty sad I don’t get to hang out with him post-game like you could with Archie and Maxie in ORAS. However, I do gotta say I was not expecting his battle music to be like THAT. But I am not disappointed! His animations and expressions have been such a treat for me..... as is his silly incognito outfit. I can’t get over that outfit, love his anklet. I would gladly hold hands with this man.
Sordward & Shielbert: 🔪🗡️🔥 I’d love to take a pair of hedge clippers to their hair. gOSH WHY DOES IT FLOP LIKE THAT. WHY. Horrible characters. The true villains of the game. Their names are also a crime like their hair. They look like a pair of Japanese game show hosts. -10000/10 I highly recommend using fire types with luck incense and amulet coins when going up against them.

Dear Yuletide Author
Dear Yuletide Author,
I am so excited for this year’s Yuletide! I can’t wait to see what you come up with. Hopefully this letter will help inspire you. I will start with some general likes and dislikes, then give you some fandom-specific prompts. I am equally happy with shippy or genfic, and have provided gen prompts for every fandom, as well as shippy stuff where applicable.
Likes: Worldbuilding, weird biology, cultural differences, power dynamics, witty banter, AUs, crossovers, porn with feelings, goofy humor, flawed heroes, taking a minor detail from canon and running with it.
Do not want: non-con, Christmas-fic, pregnancy or kidfic (except when it’s canon), character death (except when it’s temporary, like Janet in The Good Place.)
On to the fandoms!
The Good Place
Characters: Eleanor Shellstrop, Chidi Anagonye, Jason Mendoza, Tahani Al Jamil
What I’d love more than anything is some more outtakes from all the loops where Michael tortured the cockroaches – the wackier, the better. A five things fic or even a drabble sequence showing glimpses into some of the ways Michael tortured them would be great. Any and all ships are welcome – give me different combos in different loops, or put them together with demons pretending to be their soulmates. Here are some prompts for what could have happened in the loops we didn’t see:
One of those ridiculous soulmate tropes people use in fic, like the things your soulmate says appearing on your skin
Sex pollen
Evil doppelgangers (maybe Michael gins up “alternate versions” of the cockroaches who went to the Bad Place?)
The one where they’re all angels with halos and harps and wings
Shapeshifters? I bet there was one where they were shapeshifters.
But feel free to come up with your own. (Btw, I’m watching along with season 4, so don’t worry about spoilers.)
The Kingston Cycle
Characters: Any
I'd love some straight up Miles/Tristan PWP, either filling in the fade-to-black before they head out to the asylum, or set after the book when Miles has recovered enough for sex. I’d really love porn that plays on Tristan’s alienness as an Amaranthine, Miles discovering how powerful he really is, and the delicious fealty dynamic of Tristan devoting himself to Miles.
I’m also intrigued at the idea of a fic from Grace’s perspective. I found Grace to be despicable, but now that we know that the next book is going to delve into her story, and we know from the summary that she’s queer, I want to try to sympathize with her more and figure out where she’s coming from. Grace & Miles backstory from before he ran away would be cool. I’d also like some Grace POV on the events of Witchmark. What was it like for her when Miles nearly killed her? When her fiance broke it off with her? When Miles finally broke free of her control? How does she feel after the end of Witchmark?
I’m also interested in Miles backstory. Who were some people he knew and loved during the war? He served for a long time, and he worked under such terrible circumstances, he must have made some powerful wartime bonds. How did he adjust to a life of freedom from his role as a secondary?
The Adventure Zone: Hootenanny
Characters: Benny Gene Esserit, Pepsi Liberty, Shoots McKracken
I had so much fun listening to this one-shot. What I’d like more than anything is just a series of wacky adventures as Hootie and the Nannies perform on different planets in the Grand New Opry circuit. Maybe a five things fic? Five times Hootie and the Nannies got in trouble, and one time the concert actually went smoothly? Go wild and set each performance gone awry on a different Star Trek planet of hats. Maybe one time they were booked to play for a fertility ritual orgy and they didn’t realize until they showed up. Maybe they ended up worshipped as gods on some planet. Crossovers are very welcome here – have them perform on all your favorite sci-fi planets. Just have fun with it and make me laugh!
The Lab: Avoiding Research Misconduct (Web Interactive Movie)
Any characters
I discovered this movie through the tagset and had such a laugh over it. The melodrama of it all! Educational videos usually don’t bother making such colorful characters, do they?
Mostly, I just want to see a) parody of the earnestness of this video, and b) the lab members getting their revenge on Greg. Greg is the worst! Do they go full Kill Bill and gang up on Greg with katanas? Or is this an elaborate prank war kind of revenge? Honestly, just the emotional catharsis of seeing Greg break down and confess might be enough. Can Kim and Hardik just finally catch a break?
I think an AU or crossover could be really funny here, if you want to set the lab in another setting (research misconduct IN SPACE?), or just have random crossover cameos as other PhDs and postdocs in the lab. Also, if you’re so inclined, this is the perfect place to do interactive fiction, since the source material is an interactive video.

Setting Fires
[HallPass ch3] Thomas and Arin both comforted by a curly-headed beaut
Pj had found Thomas out in the kitchen late at night, stress eating in the dark, which was new for Thomas so he took note of it. He was reluctant to share what troubled him, but around the time his tea was done steeping he was spilling it, as the kids say. Like the steam loosened him up. Pj patiently listened to him give the backstory as if he didn't already hear it through the grapevine first. He even gave little nods and "oh"s where appropriate. "So he's there with him tonight, eh?" He asked when he'd caught up to the current events.
"Yeah. The second time this week." Thomas said looking out the window that provided a view of the Gamma house. "I didn't realise how different it was sleeping next to him until suddenly he's not there." Pj took a second to observe Thomas in this melodramatic space, a dark kitchen with a cup of tea and blanket draped over his shoulders. Very cinematic, very raw.
"Bullshit." He chuckled softly into his teacup before sipping. "You don't like that he is over there in some other man's bed. And that's okay Tommy, some may say that's normal for a married man even."
"That's not it! I'm the one who told him to try this. I knew it make him happy, and I was right, by the way." He said a little indignant then tried to sip his tea but burned his tongue and coughed a bit.
"Then tell me what's the difference between nights like this and any other night Daniel has stayed at Gamma working, or went to perform a show?" Pj asked sitting beside him and looking out to the Gamma house too. "Some of those nights were even with Arin, were they not? So what's different Tommy boy?" They both sat quietly in that question, and Pj could hear Thomas take a deep breath that made him smirk knowingly. He looked to him, seeing his shoulders rise and chest puff out. That cute look of determination scrunching up his nose and making his eyes narrow in focus.
"You're right."
"...Pardon?"
"Nothing is different. Danny is with someone he loves and he's having a fun night. Tomorrow, he'll be with me, and he'll still be with someone he loves and will have a fun night. I stand by my offer to him, and I will power through this rough patch! I love Danny so much I will let someone else love him, and I'll let him explore what he feels." He really had a way of talking like an after school special. Pj could hear the 90s sitcom audience "awe!" At him and the music play them out to commercial break. Pj sighed and wrapped his arm around Thomas' shoulders delicately.
"I know you want to be this forward thinking lover of the future, but it's okay to not want to be like this. It's okay to not want to share. You bagged yourself a straight one, I hear that's a big deal or something or other. You don't have to hand him over to someone who couldn't catch him for seven years." He was hardly a man to medal in others business but Thomas had carved out a stubborn soft spot in Pj's heart for himself. He was tender and caring to a fault and someone had to be there to advocate for him. "Take care of yourself. It's what Danny would want if he knew you felt like this." He tacked on and finished his tea as he got off the counter. He let Thomas sit with his thoughts as he cleaned his cup, not realising Thomas warm gaze was on him until he spoke.
"It's what you want for me." He could hear the smug little cheeky smile Thomas had when he got to see the squishy sentimental insides of Pj. Without turning around Pj smirked and scoffed a bit.
"Oh Tommy boy, what I would want for you is an entirely different cup of tea."
"You want me to stand up for myself, and Pj I promise if I have to I will, but I don't regret this." Thomas said confidently and sipped from his tea cup that was now cool enough for him to drink comfortably. Pj leaned back on the counter and looked at him with curious narrow eyes. He tried to picture what was going on in his brain, those cute little characters of his spinning little stories and fighting.
"Promise me, when it comes down to it, you listen to Roman." He said shifting his weight back onto his feet and walking to stand in front of Thomas and break his gaze from the Gamma wall. "Whatever your fiery romantic tells you, listen to him." Thomas' eyes narrowed now, his lips pouted. Pj could see his reluctance, so he put up his pinky. "Promise me Thomas. Listen to your passion." Thomas huffed and rolled his eyes, mostly at himself, as he linked his pinky with Pj's
"Okay Okay! Fine yes! I promise, if I think Roman would put an end to it, I will put an end to it." He agreed and took a deep breath to sigh it out. "Thank you for looking out for me, Peej."
"Oh no no, you're looming out for yourself. That's what you agreed to."
"You're looking out for me on a technicality!"
"If that's what you have to tell yourself Tommy boy."
"It is and I will!"
~~~~~~
Danny pulled out a Zippo and made a whole little performance of snapping it open and flicking the flame to life. He looked at it flicker a second, catching Arin doing the same and following it to the end of the blunt. Danny couldn't help but wear a smirk as he snapped the lighter shut and saw how Arin sat up a bit straighter. He took a hit and playfully blew the smoke at Arin, who leaned back giggling.
"Asshole!"
"Oh come on! That's good stuff!"
"Whatever man! Hand it here, I wanna be a cool kid too!" He chuckled and took another hit before held it out to Arin. Danny gazed at him as he took the blunt from his hand. He was so cute looking at it end to end before going to put it to his lips, but first his eyes caught Danny's and his goofy look. "What? How can I already be doing it wrong?"
"No! You're not doing anything wrong Big Cat!" He quickly tried to reassure him, leaning closer to him by shifting his weight forward onto his arm. "I'm just, wow, I'm hanging with the bad boy."
"What!?" Arin laughed and held the blunt away from himself to laugh. "It's your pot! You wanted me to try it with YOU! You lit it!"
"Just let me fucking enjoy this Arin, god!" He said playfully though his teeth, then they were both laughing. "But for real. Look at my hot, drop out, bad boy boyfriend smoking pot in my dorm room." He saw how Arin blushed but smiled at what he said and he could only smile more in return. "You like that I called you boyfriend more than anything else, don't you?" Arin nodded quickly with his eyes crinkled up in a smile.
"Why are you so into me being a bad boy?" Arin asked and tried to go take a hit but he backed off from it again. Danny noticed the hesitation, hoping he could help him be comfortable.
"I don't know man! Bad boys are hot! I was a super fucking nerd forever and you were a horse riding rebel. Let me have this!" Arin laughed harder, shaking his head and snorting a bit. "You feeling okay about this still, Big Cat?" He asked and crawled closer to Arin, laying his head into his lap. "You don't have to. You can just watch me fucking… float." He giggled and reached up to tenderly touch Arin's face.
"But I wanna float with you." Arin sighed and leaned over to kiss Danny on the nose before taking the hit he was building up to. Danny felt his heart race a bit and a grin take his face, even as Arin coughed a bit. He didn't care weather Arin got high with him or not at the end of the day, but he was so excited that he trusted Danny enough to make this high a good one and to take care of him.
He spent time picking the best movies to watch and making his room super starter stoner friendly. All the snacks his baby could want and plenty of water bottles chilling in his mini fridge. He even learned how to use grub hub to make sure they could get real food if he wanted later. He was so nervous that he'd invite Arin into this experience just to make him panic like he had before, but he was determined to give him the relaxation he'd been seeking. Last time he was doing edible with an asshole sadist so he was already off to a good start. Arin knew Danny was treating him with kid gloves, and it made him feel bad, like he was ruining his boyfriends fun. He was so much more complementary and liberal with his usually reserved nickname. He used it when he was most stressed and in need of empowerment, so he must have really wanted Arin to see this though. And he was gonna!
Some time after the blunt became a roach Arin was laying out on the bed as his head began to swim, his head placed between Danny's legs but not in the sexy way. He looked up at him as Danny played with his hair, sitting in a wide stance. "You doing okay?" He asked gently from over him and ran his fingers through his locks.
"Yeah, I'm just, it feels funny." He chuckled and reached up to grab Danny's hand to hold. Some of his hair was in the grasp but he wasn't bothered by it right now. "I feel like I can't feel anything, but I feel everything." He tried to explain, which made Danny snicker. "Heeeeey! No making fun of me, you promised."
"I'm not, man, I'm not! You're just-" he cut himself off with a burst of giggles, looking down at his pouty partner who was dipping a toe in the sauce. "You're just cute, I can't help it."
"Oh yeah! Sure!"
"No really!"
They both laid in the giggling fit for a bit, which was normal for them so, Arin started to forget he was pretty smoked out for a bit. Things were so comfortable and Danny was thriving! He was sure he solved Arin's pot puzzle and they could start to relax, not worrying he might lose touch. He got up to get drinks from the kitchen, some soda for Arin he didn't keep in his room, entering the room talking about something he remembered from class the other day, some stupid thing another student said as he poured the drink into a cup and grabbed himself a handful of candies to nibble on. When he turned to face him to see why he didn't comment on his story he saw his eyes locked on something in the room. Danny followed the gaze to the floor, a tour shirt that been thrown there earlier in the day. For a moment, Danny wanted to ignore it.
"You… want this?" He asked with a small chuckle, picking it up and walking towards him, Arin's eyes moved somewhere else but his troubled expression held as he tried to shake out his head. "Arin?"
"What were you doing?" He asked swallowing hard right after he looked around and after a moment found his water bottle to take a sip. "You left me for so fucking long dude."
"Arin, it was just a few minutes. You're just lost in the sauce, big cat." He chuckled and sat beside him. Closer now he could note his deep breathing and small distressing sounds he whimpered out. "Hey hey, Big Cat, what's… it was just a minute. What did- what's wrong?" Danny reached for his hand, making sure he was okay with the touching before taking both of them.
"What if… what if this is all just picked for us? What if this isn't a choice?" He could feel his own struggle articulating why he was panicked, but he was trying through the pounding in his chest and ringing in his thoughts. "What if you didn't actually want this? It could all be designed. What if you'd never chose me?"
"Arin, you know I don't believe in destiny." Danny meekly replies, tilting his head with a frown. "All life is, is choices we make. One foot falling in front of the other. We only move in one direction so when we make a good choice by chance, it feels like it was meant to be." He gave a shrug and moved in closer, sitting behind him and wrapping his arms around, laying his head against Arin's. "Despite and because of everything, I chose you. And I know I did it. I wanted to work with you, I said yes to game grumps, I want to do that with you until we both die on camera, because it makes me the happiest I could imagine myself being. Nothing had to tell me to do that." He held Arin a bit tighter when he felt how he was calming down. His hands moved up and found a place to rest on Danny's forearms that laid over his own chest.
"You chose Thomas… all the time that's passed, you chose him, not me, but now-"
"Arin, you weren't even single in all that time I sat beside you, falling in love with you in another way. You were my best friend and happy with… with her." Arin never thought of it like that. Danny wasn't much one for the forbidden fruit. Why put something in your cart that was out of stock?
"And now?"
"Now, we're lucky aren't we? We have this chance for us to fall in love, for me to follow the happiness you bring me even deeper. Maybe not deeper, maybe just differently?" Arin chuckled pulling out of the embrace to look back at Danny grinning.
"You're such a fortune cookie." He chuckled and laid his hand on the other's cheek. "Where do you get off saying things that gross and romantic?"
"I get off right here in this bed." He replied quickly with a smirk, which made Arin blush and laugh as he leaned his head down into Danny's chest to finish collecting himself. He took a deep breath, taking in the familiar scent, warm and clean. Danny stroked his hair, humming a little tune to him. "I think its movie time."
"Sure."
"Want to watch speed racer?"
"No, too familiar."
"Okay, what about something animated?"
"Can you just like…. Sing to me a little bit first?" He asked very quiet, knowing Danny wouldn't say no but feeling bashful for wanting something so cliche.
"Of course, Big Cat." Danny couldn't care less, he was grinning at the thought of what song to sing to him in his head.
"Then can we watch the new Aladdin and laugh at Will Smith's blue nipples?"
"Fuck yeah we can baby!"
Danny ended up softly serenading Arin for quite a while, even after Arin had returned to laying between his legs, and after he interrupted his set to make out for a while. He couldn't get enough of Danny's smooth and soothing voice. Danny couldn't get enough of the way Arin gazed at him when he sang, even when he messed up the words or couldn't hit the right note because of how quiet and gentle he was being. By the time they got the movie put on he had sobered up enough for them to talk about nonsense for a while, and to get bored of the movie to play a silly physics co-op game. Somewhere between throwing snacks into each others mouths and kissing Arin goodnight, Danny stopped feeling like he did wrong by him. He felt like they overcame something greater than his history of bad highs.
"I love you." He whispered even long after he heard Arin start to softly snore into his chest. He held him a bit tighter and chuckled at himself. He said this so many times to Arin, but it was like saying a phrase you never knew the meaning of until now. The etymology finally all falling into place as he held the other man against his body in the moonlight that dripped into his window. "I love you, Arin Hanson." He sighed, trying it out more. He had to find a way to say it that sounded different than any other time he told him. He needed to find a way that that Arin could feel what it meant this time, show him a Rosetta stone that made all the words mean what he felt right now. He started to make a plan, even as he drifted off too.
