This is Shaaban Al-Dalu. He had two sisters and a little brother. He was studying software engineering in the tent he died in. Shaaban was his family's sole provider. His mother died with him. May they rest in peace

Seeing DreamSMP trending I was soooo gonna make fun of it to myself like ‘haha this is still going?’ but then suddenly I was 16 again watching the lore and counting the days to Nov 16th. It was never mine, it never belonged to me - but seeing it trend again, seeing the final messages, made me feel like something I lost many years ago has finally been returned to me, even if only briefly.

Things have changed. I’m an adult now. I don’t play much Minecraft anymore. But TommyInnit - a few months older than me, someone whose face I struggle with seeing because I associate him with abrupt tragedy - logs back on, and he’s getting there. It makes me almost wanna cry.

It was cringy, it was stupid, it was parasocial, it was stressful, but god it was fun while it lasted.

And now it’s over. The worlds still there, the songs and art still exist, but it is over. A quiet symphony. A peaceful epilogue.

It’s over.
