Ya'll wanna know something kinda weird I've noticed? It's been something in the back of my mind for a while but I figured I could share it.

So, when I watched s1 of Stranger Things with my family when it first came out, I remember everybody (that I heard about) raving about the characters of El, Dustin, and Mike the most. As we all know, when the show first started, Mike was considered a fan favorite! This pm continued in s2 despite him not having as much spotlight. Then we also all know how people perceived him in s3-4.

Now, my point with this is that, at the time, when people watched season 1 (& 2 but mostly 1), Mike was a favorite of many! But now, when I watch reactions to Stranger Things, there is rarely any Mike love from the get-go! I just wonder why that is.

The thing is though, all the other characters I remember people loving are the ones most reactors still love. So why does it seem like, even from the beginning now, Mike isn't seen the same way by watchers as he was back then?

EDIT: I forgot to add that none of the reactors I'm referring to hate him or anything (in s1 at least), they just simply seem very neutral about him. This is still a difference from how much people loved him, though.

If anyone has any ideas about why this may be the case, or even if you think I'm completely wrong and making things up, pls tell me in the comments cuz I am genuinely so curious.

Hot Take: Even thought it’s not Star Trek, The Orville is the best “Star Trek” show I’ve seen in a long time. I was very hesitant to give it a go but I’m glad my friend convinced me.  The first season has a touch too much crass Seth MacFarlane humor but that drops dramatically by the 2nd season when the show starts to find it’s stride.  ‘A Tale of Two Topas’ (an episode about being intersex) in season 3 is the best episode of the series hands down. Topa, who barely had two lines in any other episode before this, just fuckin’ killed it along w/ everyone else in that episode.  The story, the acting, the way it interweaves w/ what’s going on in the series as whole on top of it 👌 If you liked Star Trek: The Next Generation give it a chance...like more than just the pilot cuz it starts rough like most shows.  I’ve been watching an episode every night after work and now that I’m done I’m going to miss it.  I hope a season 4 gets picked up.
