Hey I'd like to ask you something. Could you do some Aoba Johsai x reader head canons of how they'd meet her in person and what they'd think of her?
Why yes! Sure thing. I'll give you headcanons of how Aoba Johsai meets y/n! But there'll be some happy and wholesome timeskip moments and some will be very upsetting!
Oikawa Tooru
Oikawa thought you were really bitchy towards him at the first meeting he had.
But at some stage he later on thought about you in a different way that made him think you aren't that bad.
When on Valentine's day you got a river of letters and cards flowers and chocolates.
He didn't like it very much that you were popular amongst the guys at Aoba Johsai.
Especially with you being a third year both third year guys and second years would confess their love to you.
On the day that he remembered when you and Oikawa met he felt ashamed that he was so rude towards you.
He still blames himself.
Timeskip: You stood there next to your husband. Oikawa now thinks back to the sweet memories the two of you have made before you got engaged.
Iwaizumi Hajime
When you met Iwaizumi things just changed. How did you meet Iwaizumi?
Well it was through Oikawa that you met his childhood friend Iwaizumi Hajime.
It was really sweet of Oikawa to do something like that but later through the months you and him spent together.
You never thought you'd fall for Oikawa.. which broke Iwaizumi's heart.
When you announced that you and Oikawa are now dating, things took a real bad turn for Iwaizumi.
Timeskip: At the end you and Iwaizumi were married for four years and three months, you were pregnant by three months when he was in Japan as the Athletic Trainer of Japan's team.
While you were in Argentina at Tooru's apartment, you were four months pregnant.
Matsukawa Issei
When you met Mattsun, well let's just say you fell in love with him and his brown eyes.
You knew you just had a type of guy with black curly hair and brown eyes.
But how did you meet him?
It was during your second year of middle school your school and his had a camping trip.
You got lost at some point in the middle of the forest, how did that happen?
Well… you were chasing a butterfly and not looking if your friends were with you or if you'd gotten yourself lost.
And you did. You panicked but a guy about a bit taller than you with brown eyes came to find you.
Both Iwaizumi and Oikawa were relieved that he found you.
That was your best memory of him when you both were 12 years old. He still remembers that day you cried in their arms after your mind said you're lost!
Timeskip: You and Issei got married at 22 years old. You were 22 while he was 24 years old, they still joke about how he's two years older than you are.
Hanamaki Takahiro
You just graduated middle school when you both met, your mothers were best friends since elementary school.
How? You both never knew how they were friends at a young age like that.
But you remembered asking your mother and she just smiled at you saying figure it out yourself, love and just left you like ???? Which you still don't know.
Then you both got close when you were introduced to him at 3 years old.
You both don't really remember meeting at the age of 3 your mothers do.
Timeskip: Still to this day you both are now the most laughable married couple ever. Everyone thinks when they see you both around that you're the one who's joking with your husband.
When it's Hanamaki all along since you're about five months pregnant with your first child with him.
Yahaba Shigeru
How did you and Yahaba meet?
Well.. at a training camp you both met there.
It's a long story.. Aoba Johsai's setters in training went to this second year setter only training camp and you were there.
Later on, Yahaba had occasional private conversations with you when you weren't busy filling water bottles up for them.
But there is one thing that you do remember about Yahaba Shigeru and that is when you found him talking to a girl.
A girl that he might be dating soon… turns out you misunderstood the situation that had you crying in his arms.
Timeskip: You and Yahaba have been married for a year now, you're only seven months pregnant with your second child, a girl..
Kyoutani Kentarou
When you met Kyoutani it was an entirely different story to be told. He didn't like it when other second year guys talked to you!
No, no, no! They aren't allowed to talk to his GIRLFRIEND! The two of you have been dating in secret for a year and four months now.
None of his teammates knows about him and their manager dating in secret.
It's only been about three months that they still haven't found out yet.
Timeskip: You and Kyoutani have now a healthy happy marriage, your parents first thought of arranging a marriage for you.
But when he jumped in and said why do you want to do that to your beloved sweet daughter? I love her! Even if she knows that I don't show it through emotions but I show it with actions!
Watari Shinji
Really simple actually! You both met during class time, how though?
Well… you were in your second year and you somehow or not really got in the same class as Watari.
But when you started dating Watari things changed for the both of you.
You and him were always so casual with each other soft touches and sweet kisses were always between you both.
Timeskip: Watari knew that this would happen.. you laid there in bed asleep with another man that wasn't him you're married to another.
Kindaichi Yuutarou
With Kindaichi it wasn't all special. You thought meeting him was good news.
But you did bump into Kageyama during the meet up and got ready to see the match between Karasuno vs. Date Tech.
After the match Kageyama called you over to him to talk, he apologized to you after what he said to you in middle school.
You forgave him and he said about some rumuors of Kidaichi which you were shocked about.
Timeskip: When you confronted Kindaichi he said he doesn't know anything about such rumuors and doesn't know what you're babbling about.
Kunimi Akira
Kunimi knew that between you and him things would go the different way around.
Timeskip: When he saw Kindaichi cheating on you he was baffled and didn't want to tell you that your husband is cheating.
You were only six months pregnant with your daughter but the thing is you didn't tell Kindaichi that your daughter isn't his.
But your daughter has Kunimi's eyes and the color of his eyes.
The day that your daughter Aiko was born, Kindaichi was still cheating.
Kunimi was there through and through from when you announced that you're pregnant up until the changes in your pregnancy until she was born.
Right when you found your husband cheating with two women in your bed with him.
You yelled at him to get out and threw his stuff out with him and the women.
In about a month.. Kunimi got married to you and you let him move in with you.
You're now the happiest woman alive to have such a wonderful caring husband who wouldn't cheat on you ever.
There you go! If you have any other hcs you'd want please send some more to me!!

Being Seijoh’s Manager
Bookworm Manager
Seijoh x GN! Manager (they/them pronouns)
Warnings: swearing (probably, actually idk)
AN: this is an anon request.
Honestly I think this team is a perfect fit for a manager who loves to read!
They give a certain vibe of class and distinction 😌
And idk if you read romance, action, manga, smut, fantasy, non-fiction, etc
Readers have a certain amount of grace to me
And of course, our precious Yn is the number #1 most graceful 💅
You attend Seijoh and you just happen to be a first year
You never really bothered anyone, never really stood out but you had friends and were a typical student
Perks of being a wallflower 😏
Prepare for book puns and I won’t apologize!
Anyways, you were a typical student who just happened to have class with our favorite aloof wing spiker, Kunimi
Kunimi actually really enjoyed you because you were nice, sweet and pleasant
You never caused drama and while you did have you noise in a book a lot, he’d rather have that than someone gushing over his Senpai 🙄
I totally feel like Kunimi would like reading too so he would probably ask you about your reads, which you happily share
You probably were constantly tired, like him, only you were tired because you stayed up all night reading 😅
During a normal practice, Mattsun and Makki were again teasing Oikawa for being the reason they couldn’t have nice things
Aka a manager
“I can’t help that everyone likes me!” Oikawa whines
“Shut up Shittykawa nobody likes you!” Iwaizumi shouts
Suddenly Kunimi looks over and you appear in the doorway of the gym, eyes locked in a book and holding his math book
He looks at you questionably, which prompts Kindaichi, Yahaba, Watari and Kyotani to do the same thing
He runs past his arguing seniors towards you and greets you kindly
“Hello Yn, did you bring this for me?” He asks as you snap from you book, a wide, adorable smile greeting him
“Yes! I was headed out and I noticed you forgot it so I figured I’d swing by!”
By now, the seniors have noticed you and annoyingkawa is on the move 🙄
“Well hello there and who might you be?” He says but you say nothing
Oikawa clears his throat and tries again, “hello there cutie-chan!”
Again, nothing
Kunimi is holding it together by a thread, Makki and Mattsun are too stunned to speak and Iwaizumi is hella impressed!
“You know it’s rude to ignore you seniors!” Oikawa growled
You snap from your book, eyes locking with his, “oh I’m sorry, this is just a really interesting part, nothing against you personally but it’s kind of important so I’ll be on my way.”
Makki and Mattsun BUST out laughing
Kindaichi, Yahaba, and Watari just stare
Kyotani and Iwa are in awe of your ability to ignore THE Oikawa
“I’ll see you in class tomorrow Akira,” you say, waving at him and walking away
Immediately, Iwa runs up to Kunimi and asks, “does Yn need a club??”
And that, my dear, is how you became the Seijoh’s new manager 🥰
Now at first, you weren’t really super excited about volleyball
I mean, you originally said yes because you needed a club and well, Kunimi was your friend
However you found one perk to the sport
In the form of reading Sports Mangas 😍
Surprisingly it was an excellent way to learn the sport as well as combine it with your love of reading
Even if Manga wasn’t your first choice, you definitely found it easier to learn thought reading gs alternative means
Mainly loserkawa 🙄 who took it upon himself to try and educate you on the sport
It’s literally Lord of the Flies up in here!
“Shittykawa leave Yn alone!!” Iwa shouts as you stand next to Kunimi and Kindaichi
“I’m teaching Yn-Chan the fine art of serving!” Oikawa shouted back
“Umm thanks Oikawa but I think I got it. I read a manga last night and I got the basics down,” you says as Oikawa puts up his hand
“Why read Yn-Chan when you can learn from the greatest?!” He says, tossing up the balls
And slamming it right into the net
You 👉🏻😐
Kunimi and Kindaichi 👉🏻🙄
Makki and Mattsun 👉🏻🤣🤣
Iwaizumi 👉🏻🧑🏻🦱🤛🏻
Oikawa 👉🏻 💀
Thankfully your knowledge of volleyball, from reading, you were able to help the boys come up with new skills and tactics to win!
Unfortunately, the skills and tactics didn’t match up against Karasuno, who apparently had developed their own skills
The third years were broken, the second years so upset and the first years disappointed
You couldn’t help but feel awful, like you failed them
On the bus ride home, everyone was quiet as you sat
You wanted to cheer them up but you didn’t know how
Then it came to you, you pulled out your book from your bag
Let’s just say it was one of your new favorites and you began to read out loud to the bus
The boys slowly looked up, listening to your soothing voice as you recited lines perfectly
The entire bus seemed to calm down, the tension disappearing as you continued to read
Once back at school, you stopped reading and prepared to get off the bus
“Wait Yn what happens next?” Kindaichi asks as Kunimi nods
“Come on YN, you can’t really just leave us hanging with that!” Yahaba groaned
“Anyone can see the hero is going to end up victorious as always!” Oikawa chimes in as Iwa smacks him in the back of the head
“Shittykawa shit up!” Iwa said as Mattsun and Makki helped you unload the gear
“You’ll finish reading the story right Yn?” Makki asks as you smile
Of course you will 🥰

'Love' confession
Manager Miniseries
─Aoba Josai x fem!reader
─Summary: you were just trying to help and the team seems to be at the wrong time to hear something stupid
─Warnings: none
11 < 12 > 13
"I'm serious! (Nn) is in love with me."
"What makes you think that, shittikawa?"
The captain acted offended, no one on his team believed that their manager was secretly madly in love with him, they had never seen you express any kind of romantic interest in someone before.
"Who wouldn't fall in love with me?"
"Surely a lot of people..."
Kunimi whispered, vaguely wiping the sweat from his forehead, grabbing his gym bag, glancing sideways as Kindaichi finished changing.
"Besides, remember that she didn't even know you before entering the club."
"Matsukawa is right."
"Of course... but since I'm irresistible, it was inevitable that she fell in love with me."
Iwaizumi punch him again and he complained, insisting that you were crazy in love for him. He was so persistent that ended up convincing them to secretly spy on you, since today was Monday they wouldn't have trainning before lunch, so they would have that time to keep an eye on you.
You always tried to keep a low profile, you were always late, trying not to let anyone notice you enough, you didn't have many friends considered close, but at least you had some trust with your classmates. Since you were very carefree, you didn't mind helping someone who asked, that's why your classmates constantly ask you for some favors, of course they knew when would ask for these, because if you weren't in the mood or were too tired you would politely deny them. And that was exactly what you were doing right now; a favor to a classmate.
"(N) you say it as if it were easy."
"It is?"
You shrugged, stretching out your arms, letting out a yawn, lunchtime was always your nap time to catch up on the sleep you missed at night.
"Could you do it again?"
"Whatever..." you sighed to get into the role of a crazy lover, changing your expression to a more animated one as well as the tone of your voice to a softer one "Oikawa, I love you! would you go out with me?"
There were a few seconds of silence, the girl seemed to analyze the tone of voice, the expression and the gestures that you had made.
"It's just a silly confession of love, don't break your head too much about it."
"It still looks so easy! Surely when you are in front of him you will freeze."
The team who were listening to the conversation from behind the scenes went blank when they heard you two talk about confessing to Oikawa.
"Was that idiot right?"
"I don't believe that (N) is in love with you."
"Yeah, she doesn't deserve that shit."
"You all are so mean"
He complained but everyone fell silent when they saw how you left the classroom, they hid better to continue listening.
"What? I wouldn't freeze confessing."
"Then try to do it."
"What's the point of that? It's you who is in love."
"Aw come on, you can't deny that you like him a little, plus you can always say it was a joke or something… I don't even have the confidence to get close to him."
You sighed, rubbing the bridge of your nose, you didn't want to be the one to break her illusion, but if she needed you to do it first to give her courage, it wasn't a big deal for you.
The boys were totally speechless, of everyone who could fall in love with Oikawa, did it have to be you? They had grown fond of you and appreciated your small gestures even though you were carefree most of the time, and Oikawa's streak of breakups didn't leave him in a good light.
They wouldn't want a crush to spoil your team relationship because of the captain, even Oikawa was stunned, he had suspicions but this was beyond what he thought and he didn't know how to feel about it.
At lunchtime, minutes later when everyone was in the dining room, you arrived as usual later after a little nap, everyone tensed up when you sat down at the table, you seemed unaware of the environment, too focused on your food, only looked up when you finished eating. You narrowed your eyes to see how everyone was looking at you, then remembered that you had to 'confess', yes you had forgotten.
"Ah, Oikawa I have to tell you something." now the looks were more intense, but you paid attention to the fact that the girl from before was stunned to see how you said it casually as if you were greeting someone "I love you, would you go out with me?"
The team seemed to have died, almost as if their spirits flew above their bodies, before anyone could react, you raised your thumbs in the direction where your classmate.
"(Nn) I-I don't want to hurt your feelings, but I think we're not ready for a relationship, I'm not sure about my feelings right now..."
He dramatically placed one hand on his chest and the other on his forehead, blinking several times, you put on a flat face, erasing all false acting expression.
"Yeah... about that I don't really love you, it was only to teach her how she should confess, a silly dare too."
You pointed out to the second year girl that had asked the favor, that now she was a little embarrassed. When they listened to you, the spirits of the team returned to their bodies, relieved, it already sounded very strange that you were in love with Oikawa.
"So you don't like Oikawa?"
"But we heard-!"
"You should listen better or analyze the context of conversations and not spy on people in the first place."
Their souls came out of their bodies again, embarrassed because despite their attempts, they were caught red-handed, although you didn't care much, seeing their horrified faces at they thought that you liked their captain was incredible besides the complaints from Oikawa for being 'rejected' in a certain way.

Process (and meta?): chapter 06, 07 (The Ides of April)
I'd like to share some of the process for chapters 06 and 07 as a special thank you to everyone who has left reviews, kudos and interacted with my posts here on Tumblr. I appreciate you all and will, soon, be able to reply to all your messages (and reciprocate reviews)!
A special thank you to @lunalit-river, @scar8o, MazaNaM, Kacky119 and Muscarie for always being so supportive.
This newest chapter has been long awaited (by me) given how it ties up some loose ends — and effectively paves the way for further drama between Anna and L. It was one of two key moments I first drafted and which gave substance to The Ides of April as a concept.
Feel free to ask questions, disagree or challenge any notions of lore, plot or the characters themselves.
SPOILERS BELOW
As an introductory note, I should mention that the story will likely go up to 20-30 chapters instead of the current planned 15. The more I write, the less convinced I am that I can wrap up the plot in so few chapters. It's also less stressful for me that way, because it takes me a long time to write and I'd need to do 15k chapters to finish within the constraints I gave myself.
Manuscript structure (Scrivener)
If you clicked the images above, you can see that this chapter is split into 3 parts. It's probably going around 5-8k words total, in particular due to pt 2, at Anna's apartment.
00: Context
So, we're coming from a sequence where Anna has been taken 'hostage' by L and Watari, whom she previously knew as Hideki Ryuga and Mister Smith, the gentleman who drives around the awkward young man she tries to avoid at all costs. While part of Anna's distaste for 'Ryuga' comes from the way he behaves himself in public (too conspicuous and comes off rude, while she tries her hardest to be inconspicuous and pleasant to fit in), she also finds him to be an object of pity given how he and the other boy (Light) are always the subject of rumours.
'Ryuga' bears the brunt of the gossip. For one, he sticks out like a sore thumb from the very beginning given his appearance. Light's musings that he looks 'too sloppy to be a representative' are echoed by other students the second he climbs to the podium at the entrance ceremony and don't necessarily stop afterwards. Nevermind that Kyoko falls for him at first sight; 'Ryuga' is an outcast in appearance, mannerisms and doesn't fit into the strict rules of decorum that shape Japanese society.
Then, there's an ugly, generalised jealousy aimed at him (and Light as well). 'Ryuga' got a perfect score, is seemingly rich (has a car AND a driver) and an excellent tennis player. To fane the flames, he only talks to Light Yagami, the other freshman representative. They're two peas in a pod, even with the keen contrast in their mannerisms and physical appearance.
From: Chapter 19 - Humiliation / Chapter 20 - First Hand
Anna wants nothing to do with that. Her goal is to make the best of the time she has in Japan and experience Muggle culture beyond what she knows from the UK. Unfortunately for her, due to the manner of her enrolment, she's already seen as an anomaly in wizarding Japan (see: chapter 05, Masquerade) no matter what she does so it wouldn't bode well for Anna to associate with someone like 'Ryuga' who might get her into trouble. They're both infamous in different ways, and she doesn't like his reputation one bit.
She's also getting increasingly worried: there seems to be a problem with ykai in Japan. Anna's been told in no uncertain terms that they are drawn to people like her and from her short trip to the Ministry, it seems that government officials are hiding something dire from the public.
"(...) The binds of the Statute of Secrecy tether the yõkai to our kind. They are drawn to us, to the — the magique,” the wizard lowered his voice, as if adding an afterthought. A secret. “Perhaps it is the souls. Or is it providence?” “Souls,” she repeated, taken aback. “That’s rather alarming. You almost make them sound like Dementors, sir.”
Providence indeed. Besides this special hush-hush, the wizarding world is also up in arms because of Kira and their origin. Are they magical? A Muggle? Will this mess affect their communities, or, Merlin forbid, break the Statute of Secrecy? Perhaps it will, which has made the Japanese Ministry of Magic extra zealous in how they approach Kira. When the term 'shinigami' leaks into the general public, they immediately go on the defensive and forbid conversations with Muggles about the topic. It's not a taboo term (yet?) but definitely raised many eyebrows.
From: Chapter 33 - Movement
In chapter 06: Fool, L took quite the gamble with Anna. Little did she know that, while she accidentally witnessed Misa's arrest and then ran straight to Watari for help, her obnoxious colleague 'Ryuga' was looking for her around campus. She couldn't be aware of it, but L made sure that there were no pictures of himself at his To-Ho registry. He even goes to the extreme lengths of turning off the cameras at the hotel's he's staying at so that there's no surveillance images of him either. He was extraordinarily lucky that Anna bumped into Watari and considered him genuine enough to help her (a colossal mistake on her part), trusting his 'good intentions', even going so far as to get into a stranger's car. With 'Ryuga', no less.
"Said the hangman to the noose," she retorted, incredulous. "Aren't you the funniest little fellow, wobbling around the pumpkin patch. Just how gullible do you think I am?" “That you’ve readily entered a stranger’s car doesn’t speak well of your instincts. Regardless,” he opened the door, turning to her after a beat, eyes narrowed in either boredom or frustration — though she couldn’t tell which. “Since you seem to have made it a habit to jump to conclusions despite all visible efforts to accommodate your predicament, I’m afraid nothing we can do will be enough to convince you otherwise. Suffice to say that, for now, the answer to your question is: because it would be in your best interests to do so,” he said, and, before she could react, grabbed the handle on her suitcase with a pale, bony hand like a serpent’s, dragging it out.
Make no mistake: while Anna was immensely gullible and acted out of extreme emotion, L took advantage of her state of mind to lead her where he wanted her to be. There was no way he'd leave any loose ends that might affect the case. And Watari was ever complicit, betraying the small measure of trust that Anna had in him as a kind, grandfatherly figure who, twice now, helped her when she was in need.
I should mention that Anna's meetings with Watari (and then L) are surrounded by symbolism. In chapter 01: Introspection, I introduce the Indian Laurel tree at the To-Ho parking lot, where Anna rests when she has her first nosebleed.
Indian Laurels provide a fair amount of symbolism due to their exoteric nature in East Asia. Here, in more than one way, we are looking at narrative foreshadowing: the meeting between worlds, both shrouded by lies.
In chapter 05, Anna is also resting from her nosebleed under that same tree when she sees Misa get arrested. The quote 'Lies branching off lies' from chapter 06 was an allusion to this and Anna's relationship with Watari (and L), which started off with a series of lie.
Both Anna and L attend To-Ho under false pretences; she as a witch masquerading as a Muggle, L as a student called 'Hideki Ryuga' so he can get close to Light Yagami.
L hides his name and self from the world. As Mello mentions in Another Note (pg. 117), this is not for purely selfish reasons:
(...) That was why L hid his identity Not because he was shy or because he never left the house. To ensure his own safety. For a detective of L's ability, self-preservation and the preservation of world peace were one and the same, and it would not be correct to describe his actions as cowardly or self-centered.
Anna hides her true self because, as a witch, she has to comply with the International Statute of Secrecy. Japan is a particularly sketchy case because the outcome of WW2 caused the wizarding community to withdraw completely and essentially cease interacting with Muggles.
We touch upon this briefly in Chapter 03: The Statute of Secrecy:
With her lips pursed, she glanced at the few witches and wizards skulking about the Atrium, — which was more or less a wide platform with a stone dais in the middle — and quietly walked towards the towering memorial for the Hiroshima and Nagazaki victims. A cataclysm that made wizarding Japan withdraw entirely.
“Seimei, Yasunori, Akechi, Ashina…” Anna muttered, eyes stinging as she inspected the tablets with reverence. Entire wizarding families had been decimated, several generations dead in the blink of an eye. Clans left without leaders. Their memory would live on, in history and forevermore, in this last graveyard for the fallen. All because of Muggles — Muggles and their stupid wars.
Anna’s stomach lurched at the thought. This place always gave her heartburn.
And again on Chapter 05, with the shopkeeper giving Anna a rather condescending history lesson:
“There are many tourists in Japan, mademoiselle. There has never been a witch attending their university. It is categorically unheard of,” the wizard pointed at a heavy tome with his wand and, with a flick, made it levitate, flipping the pages (...)
'their university' refers to Muggle university, i.e., To-Ho.
“Oh, but it is small enough that any deviation becomes curiosity — and you have made a spectacle of yourself, mademoiselle Green,” with his back turned to her, the wizard raised a trembling finger. “Japan operates on formality and rules. Ancient rules, revised with great effort after the catastrophic war initiated by your beloved Muggles. There are many reasons as to why, in present times, only foreign nationals reside in cities with les non-magique , as you might be aware. You have unintentionally rocked the proverbial boat.”
Note: this is world building for The Ides of April, not a canon event from the Harry Potter series.
This is not a normal situation she's in, under any circumstance. L was extremely lucky that Anna didn't wipe out his and Watari's memory the moment they parked at the hotel underground. It was her mercy and good self trying to give them a chance to make things right that stayed her hand. Well, wand.
From: Chapter 28 - Judgment
L: Even the security cameras at this hotel have been made to deactivate when we enter or leave.
Had she known the cameras were off, Anna would've Petrified L and Watari and then altered their memory of the event, so she could leave unscathed. But given the information she had (and her nerves) she decided it would be best to see how things unfolded and whether this mess could be solved amicably.
L had other ideas, though he specifically refrains from bribing Anna with money to keep quiet and leave because of the information he's already gathered about her, which can be read about in The curious case of Anna Green. With the help of Near (and Mello), L has ran into the brick wall of the wizarding world and their many subterfuges. He's got a golden ticket to figuring out why Anna Green, a 23 year old UK citizen has no records available beyond her enrolment process at To-Ho — as if she doesn't exist.
She's also not behaving like a regular civilian would, which both frustrates and amuses him. Anna challenges L, is critical of everything he does and says, hums and taps her foot to elevator music and, to top it, forces him to accommodate her pet cat to stay with them. L might be (arguably) in a position of power since Anna can't quite break the Statute of Secrecy, but he has some trouble placating her during these interactions. Case and point.
Refusing to get out of the car:
“And why’s that, pray tell,” Anna sneered as she positioned herself to leave the horrid, black vehicle of lies, moving at an almost glacial pace. “Being contrarian just to prove a point will get you nowhere,” Ryuga said from afar. He dragged his feet towards a metal door and turned the handle. Anna craned her neck to see where it led: she saw a small, grey-ish hall with a lift. Outstanding. “Watari, please escort Miss Green inside. And make sure she doesn’t wander off.”
Insulting L when he's being obnoxious and manipulative (totally deserved, honestly):
Anna narrowed her eyes at Ryuga. “Oh, I see it now,” her voice was like acid. “You must feel empathy like other people feel indigestion.”
She does eventually realize it will be better in the long run to 'cooperate' as L puts it, but her own definition is lacking, at best:
Anna raised her eyebrows. "Can I get my belongings back now?"
"No. We will, however, require any devices you might have within your person." Lovely. "Accommodating, was it," she dropped her phone into Ryuga’s open hand with a huff. Truly, she’d be in quite the pickle if she wasn’t a witch. “I have strongly mixed feelings about this.”
“Nevertheless.”
To me, one of the most interesting interactions in this chapter wasn't with L, but was actually with Watari himself:
Watari didn’t comment on her grievances. Instead, he fiddled with what she assumed was a highly complex — and fascinating — kettle running on eclecticity . “Tea, Miss Green?” “Yes, please,” said Anna as she sat on a comfortable chair. Her fingers tapped on the solid wood arms to test the sturdiness. She narrowed her eyes. “See? I, too, can be extraordinarily conciliatory. Especially when I'm not being lied to, Mister Watari." “We are fully stocked on chamomile, Earl Grey and mint —” “Though I must confess I’m particularly bothered by your role in all this,” she continued, voice quivering a little. Her hands closed into a fist on her lap. “I trusted you. Ryuga was a pebble in my shoe I could put up with if I had to; the priority was to report what I saw, anyway. I was in tears. But you lied to me in the worst way possible — and now you want to pour me a cup of tea?” A pause. “My apologies for the deception. It was necessary, even if unpleasant,” said Watari, a flicker of something in his eyes. It was gone so fast that Anna wondered if she’d ever seen it. “Rest assured that everything will be made clear, in due time.” “That’s the worst non-apology I’ve ever heard.”
The shred of humanity and conscience that Watari demonstrates during this moment was challenging to write. I tried to juggle the idea of that stiff upper lip, British gentleman that Ohba gave us with the kinder version of Watari we see in L: Change the WorLd (novel, movie and diary, kindly translated by the amazing @lunalit-river), who, despite his many flaws, is conscientious enough to admit he failed at being ethical because he would follow L to the end of the universe.
01: Realization of Kira
There's several moments that contribute to Anna's realization that she might have plunged into something related to Kira. It starts with the dodgy circumstances in which Misa was arrested:
“Don’t worry, as I said before, your friend will be adequately compensated for her property, including lost files. All data is being wiped as we speak.” “That's not — why are you—,” she stammered, perplexed. Now others were aware of her. “Does that mean you’re with the…police?” “In a manner of speaking,” he slurped his tea loudly.
Early on, L makes it clear that a) he's not actually a student and b) that he has to deal with the hypothetical leak of information caused by a wildcard, Anna. The way he speaks suggests some affinity with (Muggle) Law Enforcement and it's a damn shame for Anna that she doesn't have a lick of training in Legilimency, because it would help her gauge the situation much better.
Manipulative to the end, L also lies to Anna about the reasons Misa Amane was arrested along with her manager:
“Then I believe this will be a case of good and bad news for you," he said after a beat. Decisive and cool. "What you witnessed was mere standard procedure for apprehension on drug charges, with the concerned individuals taken in for questioning.”
Essentially, he gives her the lie released to the public (see: DN Chp 33 - Movement) and is hopeful that she will accept it. Though what truly convinces L that he cannot release Anna or attempt to bribe her, is what she says before:
She groaned. "I've no idea who you are, so I won't even bother to guess. You tell me," her patience for Ryuga’s word games and hidden meanings was almost at an end. "Were those women actually kidnapped? Or were they arrested? Because that makes a huge difference." "Does it?" It does to me. The words hung in the air, unspoken. "Yes,” her eyes were hard. “What happened was horrible. I won't ever forget what I saw, and how I was too shaken to help."
He's clever. So he understands that someone who sees themselves as moral, who feels remorse for their inaction, might take upon themselves to correct their mistake. L's gaze 'sharpens' when he hears that Anna won't 'forget' what she witnessed. She's already a wildcard he's intrigued about — he cannot allow a leak of information or for anyone to shed light on what actually happened.
The fake names. The level of security after witnessing a mid-level celebrity being kidnapped — or, at best, arrested. The dodgy circumstances. Being forced to deliver all her belongings, the not-so-subtle interrogation. Whatever's happening, Anna is slowly reaching a conclusion that hits her right in the face at the beginning of Chapter 07, and which changes her perspective on running away.
SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 07
--
L is playing the long game. He's being extra manipulative towards Anna because he needs her cooperation — and wants to lull her into a false sense of security so she can slip and tell him about her secrets. Even if they're unrelated to Kira, his gut desperately tells him that he's stumbled upon something.
At the same time, something that will be explored in chapter 02 of The curious case of Anna Green, is the fact that, during those hours Anna was left alone at the ensuite, both Mogi and Matsuda recognised her through the surveillance cameras and immediately told L about it.
Naturally, both Mogi and Matsuda would remember their odd encounters with the 'gaijin'. Anna escaped from the guard's house at the park (and deep cleaned the bathroom), leaving Mogi baffled. And Matsuda still has her omamori (which is now in L's possession) so things are bound to get more complicated as dear old L tries to instigate a conversation about Anna's visit to the garden and why she fell into a pond. Mogi mentions this gossip by the park guard:
“— too many in Japan, causing all kinds of trouble. Just last year, yes?” the park guard waggled his finger. “An American falls in the pond an’ then tries to lie his way out of a fine, sayin’ he’s looking for a gate — and I tell’im he’s a drunk fool, there’s no such thing this side of the park — I turn ‘round for a second an’ he’s gone —”
“But be that as it may, there seems to be something strange going on around that waterfall; the previous warden said the same before he retired — there might be an overseas cult with their eye on Nanushinotaki Park (...)”
Obviously, this peaks L's interest and the first part of Chapter 07 is essentially him trying to poke and prod information out of Anna. Since she's slipped away once, he's not taking any chances by allowing her to go alone with Watari.

Hope this was as fun to read as it was for me to write! There's a lot of process for this story that I can expand upon, so drop me a message, reblog or reply to this post if you'd like me to deep dive into something specific.

very un-fire emblem, but since ao3 is down here's some L death note headcanons I was debating posting, hopefully they will benefit the masses in this time of hardship
L and how he thinks about romance:
(tw for slight sexual references and short icky behavior from an unnamed non-canon character but no non con, could be dub con)
- he had a couple puppy loves when he was a kid that he fell way too deep into and had break his heart. he just had trouble understanding the natural flow of relationships, and his standing with others who expected him to keep up with them, so he kept getting left behind
- he's obviously bisexual
- and i think he had a brief thing with another boy when he was an early teen and living at the orphanage
- probably the kind of thing where he felt like he had found his soul mate, and they spent lots of time together trying to make up for how starved for love their lives had been at Whammy's, and then eventually the other boy started to become disgusted with the system, and with L because he was so integral to it the older he got, and neither of them understood any of that, and the other boy broke up with him very unkindly and vanished all in the span of about a week
- L is a little wiser to what was going on behind the scenes now, but even if he had the full explanation, the pain was just so acute, and echoed his recurring experience with abandonment so that thinking about it just solidifies a belief that he's unlovable
- i think when he got into his later teens at the orphanage and started to have a bit of freedom to wander around unsupervised, he also had a brief relationship with an American girl who was on vacation in the area
- and by brief i mean the literal one week that she was in Britain
- she was a bit older than him, almost enough to be icky and certainly old enough to know better than to play with an obviously vulnerable young boy
- she was bored and on vacation so she decided to use him, and again he was totally smitten, poor thing was still just so desperate for companionship that he didn't question a good thing
- he is a genius, but his emotional intelligence just developed slowly cause of trauma:/
- she manipulated him into being physical with her the day before she went home in an alley near the orphanage. they didn't have penetrative sex but they got pretty well acquainted
- she left him immediately after and didn't come back to say goodbye.
- that experience was where his trust allowance ran out, and a few years later after he and Watari began moving around the world, the time and the physical separation from where he grew up helped him understand not to blame himself
- it's actually really lucky that he became a career law enforcer, because it gave him the needed exposure to how much other people straight up suck, and saved him from a lifetime of self-hatred
- his theme is really being self sustainable
- he doesn't have any qualms about his personal worth
- but he also doesn't think he's good enough for other people, so he's learned to live totally without them
- Watari is the exception, because L knows that their relationship is based on Watari needing him for his talent, and he can know quantifiably that he's good enough for that
- i think romance is something he craves even if the lack of it doesn't torture him, but he is truly and literally waiting for the stars to align in the person he chooses; it's something he will never take a risk on again (cough why I'm anti-Lawlight although no disrespect to the ship or it's shippers at all it's just not for me!)
- attraction is easy! he just doesn't trust it a bit.
- his end-game would have to be someone who's known him and Watari for quite a while, who Watari likes, and who has stayed around long enough that their only possible motivation for wanting him can be- well, wanting him
- but once he's found the right one, and he's safe with them, I think he'd be eager to participate in surprisingly traditional romantic gestures, and a good communicator.
- he's awkward as we know, but when comfortable with the person he loves, i think that awkwardness turns into endearing, just non-current mannerisms. like, he's a big kiss his partner's hand kinda guy, which isn't that weird or outdated really but he does it with the intent and reverence with which a knight kisses the hand of a court lady, and he does it because he's gathered his most complete pictures of romance from books and from old movies that i'm sure Watari has made him watch
- 10/10, perfect baby angel of a man, the geneva war crimes are a part of him and I'VE decided they're funny

trick or treat!
— rouge, adel, and merryrose

— ROUGE
If Rouge was being honest, he didn't know if dressing up as a prisoner for Halloween was the brightest idea considering the fact that he's knee-deep in debt. The black and white clothes earned him a few comments along the lines of: trying out your new outfit already?
To which he would respond with: "Does it look good on me?"
Still, he thought it was a convenient outfit that he threw together last minute—turning one of his collars into a chained one was easy enough with the help of a little magic. The other chains wrapped around his wrists, however, he decided to borrow from former drinking buddies.
"Sooo… What do you think?" He stuck out his tongue, contorting his expression to mimic a rough criminal. It didn't last long though, he quickly crumbled into a fit of laughter as he threw his hair over his shoulder while shooting you a wink. "Will you give me a treat or do you want me to trick you?"
You laughed at his playful demeanor and his unserious question. He was as carefree as ever, acting as fickle as the wind. You couldn't help but want to paint his expression with something else instead—criminals often have blood on their hands or faces, right?
You thought that red might suit him in this costume. So you took a piece of unwrapped candy, tugged on the chain attached to his collar to pull him down. He looked at you wide-eyed, about to speak as he opened his mouth but you quickly put the candy in his mouth before he could. Your finger lingering on his lips for longer than it should.
"A treat from me."
The blood that rushed to his face in that moment was enough to make you think that it completed his whole look.
— ADEL!
He can't fathom how he let himself get roped into an event completely unrelated to him and his work by Merryrose, no less. He always mentioned that most costumes he would see around this time were terrible attempts that they flaunted around. He told his guild that if he cared a little bit more, he'd make costumes that would outshine everything else.
Unfortunately for him, he didn't have the chance to say anything when he got dragged into the square dressed up like a wolf. Clad in orange and fur—he thought that it was absolutely ridiculous that he let himself wear something like this. The fact that he was wearing ears, too, made it worse.
"What? You're not gonna ask for a treat?" You tilted your head, fighting the urge to tease him endlessly. He threw his head back, sighing and looked at you with tired eyes. No words left his lips but you knew that he was annoyed with you. After all, you were the one who suggested the costume.
"Do you have any idea how ridiculous I look?" He complained, "If I had my way, I'd be looking much more regal than this. Actually, I wouldn't be here in the first place."
You placed your hands on his shoulders, donning a smile as you gave him a light squeeze as a way to soothe his irritable state. "Now, now. You're here so you should make the most out of it! I'd love it if you got into your role and acted like a big bad wolf."
Surely, you said that to tease him but he was feeling spiteful.
He grabbed your wrist—earning a gasp from you—and brought it closer to his mouth. It was fake but he bared his fangs and pressed it gently against your skin as he looked at you with narrowed eyes. It wasn't sharp, it didn't hurt, but it made your heart beat faster than ever.
"If I were to act like a big bad wolf, as you say, then should I gobble you up right here right now?"
He wasn't enjoying himself much but after seeing the expression you made after his little display, he thought to himself that maybe coming down here was worthwhile after all.
— MERRYROSE!
Knowing Merry, he wouldn't pass up the opportunity to go down to the square and extort free candy from the people in town just by dressing up as a wicked witch who loved to curse people who passed by. He got into the role too much with the way he was acting but he enjoyed himself, especially since he managed to get all the candy he wanted.
Finally, it was your turn to fall victim to his favorite question for the night. He cocked his head to the side, shooting you a wink and held up his wicker basket. "Trick or treat?"
"You clearly have enough candy for tonight as is." You shook your head, refusing to give him any candy after seeing how full his basket was. "You should leave more room for the others, you've had your fill."
He frowned, raising an eyebrow in question to your rejection. He was acting like a bratty witch who was denied of something he really wanted—he was getting too into the role when he asked you, "so you're fine with this witch giving you a little trick then?"
"A trick? You really want candy that badly?" You laughed at his question but Merryrose was already taking a few steps towards you with a small mischievous smile decorating his face. You took a few steps back for every step he took until he grabbed your wrist and pulled you closer to him.
"I'll place a curse on you." He leaned in to whisper to your ear, his lips ghosting over your ear. "A curse that'll make you hopelessly in love with me."
Out of embarrassment, you pushed him away and shook your head as you tried to hide your flustered expression. "Stop that! You already know that your curse doesn't work on me."
Merryrose broke character and let out a giggle, shooting you a wide grin before replying. "Yeah, and it should stay that way. I'll make you fall in love with me without the help of stupid curses."

♡ When you two first met, you took the initiative and approached him. L of course, did not trust you right away. Having his parents abandon him as a small child gave him severe trust issues and the only person he trusts is Watari. However, as time goes on, and this will take a very long time, he will reveal things about himself to you little by little. It is his way of testing the waters and loosening up in your presence. Once he decides he can trust you though, his faith in you will be unshakable. When you're finally in a relationship, you'll know who he really is. (By this I mean the fact he's the world's top detective)
♡In terms of showing/giving you affection, L is probably not going to be passionate and horny right away. In fact, he'll probably only hug or kiss you if he's absolute 100% sure you want or need it. More likely, he'll try to show he likes you by making you a priority in example, he'll make time to see you (this probably goes without saying but the no. 1 detective is a busy person who can't go hangout very often). In unexpected times, he'll admit how important you are to him and/or the qualities he adores about you. He doesn't necessarily do this to surprise you, it's just how he is. Most of your dates will take place indoors because L likes it better that way. If you're ever having a problem, he's going to solve that no matter what it takes, and sacrifices he would have to make.
♡When he takes you to Wammy's House, you are able to be like a big sister to the children there. L will entrust you to take care and guide them. He would do this with the perspective of having you be able to help him decide on the one to be successor as well.
♡Something that changes when you two are in a relationship is that your cooking (be it good, mediocre, or even if it's bad) will become L's favorite food.
(That's about it for now, I'm having a sleepless night and I needed to get this down. I might create a part 2 if I come up with other ideas)
I hope you liked it. ◕⩊◕✨

L gives off codependent vibes. like he is not independent. L x governess!reader who is surprised that she is caring for a grown adult man who is the worlds greatest detective. she brush he hair and teach him etiquette
Yeah. Depends on the kind of relationship he's in, but I could see him being codependent with somebody he really was into for sure...
#a lot of people like to do shippy things where somebody teaches L how to groom himself or gives him a makeover or wtv haha#often times light or misa#i think he's capable of it but idk maybe he's just bored by it or spoiled by watari and never had to do it himself#he probably just wants to focus on his work or whatever is occupying his mind the most at that time instead#also as i said before i don't like character x reader things but enjoy it if you do#ask#anon#p

⋆°• ☁︎ 𐙚 𝚍𝚊𝚢𝚍𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚖
>> l lawliet x reader
>> fluff, established relationship
you’re lying in bed, staring at the ceiling and being lulled to sleep by the rhythmic clacking of L’s keyboard.
“you know what i wish?” you muse, watching the light coming off his computer brighten and darken as he flicks between screens.
“wishing is of little consequence,” he replies, almost automatically. “it won’t change the reality we live in.”
you ignore him. “ryuzaki, you want to know what i wish?”
he sighs, knowing you’ll persist anyway. “what do you wish, my love?”
“i wish that we were in a romance manga,” you tell him, clutching a pillow to your chest and letting your head hang off the side of the bed. “and you’d be just a detective and i’d be just me.”
he’s silent for a moment, taking in your words before he responds. “but i am a detective and you are you. where would this divulge from reality?”
“no one would die, because it’s a romance manga and it’s not that kind of story,” you say with a sigh. “the biggest mystery you’d be solving was how to ask me out and the only crime committed was how you’d stolen my heart—” he almost laughs at that part, “—and we could have a beach episode and montages of cute dates and a christmas special and—” you prattle on, excited merely over the prospect as you list off other fantasies.
ryuzaki listens as he works, used to this dreamy behavior from you (especially when you’re half asleep like this). your ramblings amuse him.
“i could take you to the beach,” he muses, eyes wandering in thought.
“hm?”
“watari owns several private islands,” he says, wheeling around in his chair to face you. “they’re used for different purposes, mostly as safe houses for emergencies. but i’m sure he wouldn’t mind us staying there on a long weekend.”
“are you being serious, ryuzaki?” you ask after a moment, clutching the edge of the mattress to keep yourself upright. your eyes are big and curious and hold a little ember of hope and giddiness.
“when am i not serious?” he mumbles in reply, clacking away on his keyboard but unable to hide a small smile.
you clap in delight, letting out a happy squeal. “oh my god! a private island retreat!”
“it’s nothing fancy,” he insists, turning back to his work, “so don’t go thinking this is some grand occasion.”
“ryuzaki, what about a private island isn’t fancy?!” you reply, clambering off the bed in a hurry. you whirl about the room, darting between the closet and nightstand and dresser. “i have to pack all my swimsuits and summer clothes and oh, my sandals! and my hats and sunglasses!”
“i didn’t say we were going now,” he chides, casting you an incredulous glance as he watches you flit about the room. your manic energy is endearing, if somewhat exasperating.
you straighten from where you’d been bent over the drawers, grinning and sweeping your hair from your eyes. “ah, you said a long weekend. there’s a holiday next week! if we leave in the next couple days, we can beat most of the travel congestion for the break.”
a small smile manages to overtake him at your spindle of logic. “so you’ve got it all worked out then?”
if you didn’t know any better, you’d think he was teasing you
“yes,” you reply indignantly, “now get watari on the phone and tell him i said ‘pretty please with a cherry on top’.”
he huffs with a soft laugh, shaking his head. you aren’t demanding of much, but once you have your sights set on something there’s no stopping you. “very well, my love. i’ll call watari, but that ‘cherry on top’ you mentioned will be for me, accompanied by a significant amount of cake.”
“deal,” you grin, shooing at him to make the call.

Hi hiii :)) your writing is amazing mwah mwah. Perfection.
Anyways just wanted to request a Kageyama x reader, who just happens to be oikawa’s younger sister who is also very into volleyball. People get shocked that she’s Oikawa sister since their personalities are so different but they look somewhat alike (they’re both tall and pretty hahah). Kageyama was watching the girls teams play at the tournament since theirs finished and he kinda got obsessed with the way she plays and obviously reader looked amazing 🤭🤭 so he approaches her after the game not knowing she’s Oikawa’s sister
kageyama flirting w/ tall!ace!reader
*attempting. attempting to flirt in his own unique way. poor thing. also i love you anon and thank you sm!

warnings. none, sfw
info. kageyama attempting to flirt / tall!reader / ace!reader / oikawa's sister!reader / kageyama being dumb / kageyama crushing on reader / aoba johsai!reader / wingman!hinata / exchange of numbers / potential for a part 2 / 2.6k words
links. my masterlist. more haikyuu. my ao3. requests? part two here.

Kageyama chose to sit and watch a few more teams play their respective tournament bracket while waiting for their bus to pick them up. It would be a long ride home. He would zone out, rest, and get away from the buzzing, orange fly in his ear then.
Right now, in the middle of Aoba Johsai's last set, he kept on the edge of his seat with a firm brow.
"She's like Azumane," Hinata sighed, about a five minutes behind Kageyama's own observations.
It took not only a stellar performance, but a timeout and penalty because you broke three of Date Tech number 8's fingers with your last spike for Hinata to make that connection.
The penalty costed your team their last two points. You were called off the court for the next 4 minutes, he barely caught your dewy face made of stone. Both audiences were in an uproar- one more justified than the other- but Kageyama had to side with you because he needed to watch you play more. He might not get the chance again.
Number 8 should've taped her fingers. Better yet, she shouldn't have tried to keep blocking you.
You not only knew how to get around it, but the way you worked with your setter, and the unmatched control and strength in your swing made blocks impossible.
"I didn't think this kind of thing happened with the girls," Hinata mumbled, craning over Kageyama to get a look at you off-court.
Kageyama shoved him off and rolled his eyes at the assertion. "Obviously, dumbass."
A smattering of Johsai's male team were taking the hit harder than even you, at the edge of the bleachers.
Oikawa led Watari, Yahaba, and Mattsu, and Hanamaki in their 'Crybaby' chants. They were on their way to earning another penalty for your team, deterred only by Iwa, who was about the only person alive that could successfully shut it down.
Now both of the teams were in a tense battle, both genuinely angry at one another for taking needed players off. It was a rigid one-point dual for minutes.
He had a limited view of you as it played out- tough and stiff as just about everyone working for your team took turns talking to you; Coach, advisor, manager, teammates. Assumedly all "It's not your fault," "Keep your head up," "8 will be alright" and the like. You were their Ace, for sure.
4 minutes was enough time to assume their girls' team would meet the same unfortunate fate as the boys today against Karasuno. It was why all the Johsai guys were leaned over the railing, screaming at every play, because they just couldn't take another devastating loss.
He didn't realize how much they needed you until they let you out, unfortunately timed straight into an even-scored serve.
"(F/n)!!" Oikawa shouted, above the roar of the audience once they all realized you were released and put in the back position.
Kageyama watched you look up- that was your name? How did he know your first name?
The rest of the Johsai team joined him when he cried, "Break it!!"
Your big, pretty grin raised Kageyama to his feet. He had to see this.
Your ritual was silent and rode the time out to the very last second. A sigh of breath on the ball, another good luck spin, then up into a jump--
WHAM!!
A loud, clean, cross-court serve to win the game for Johsai. No volley. Just a brutal, final blow to Date Tech's morale. They sank into the floor as your school flew into a frenzy and celebrated a satisfying victory.
That serve was familiar, but Kageyama didn't get to dwell on its origin too much before Hinata yanked him out of his thoughts.
"You should talk to her!"
He was too close, and he could feel his face warming up, so he shoved Hinata's head to the side and started walking away.
"You clearly like her," Hinata muttered.
A quick turn of his head, with a very mean expression, shut him up- but it didn't help the heat crawling up the back of his neck, and it didn't reduce the truth in Hinata's argument. Just his volume.
No amount of brooding or pride would get him any closer to you. Caught between the choice of rejoining his team or making his existence known, he turned sharp on his heels.
And Hinata knew better than to speak and revel in his victory just yet. Kageyama would probably screw this up.
When they were coming quietly up on Aoba Johsai's designated spot, Hinata scanned the crowd of girls for you, and despite the many distractions, found an interesting twist. Oikawa let you down from a monster hug and it was clear his dark-haired counterpart was too in-his-head to notice.
Kageyama bit a shudder back at the sight of so many people crowded up. He had no real reason to approach you, no connection, no excuse other than the truth.
"I think--,"
"Don't talk to me." Kageyama snapped, short on patience. He pushed his hands through his hair and added, "Don't even act like you know me. Just... be somewhere else."
Hinata pushed a giggly smile down. He split off and decided to pick Iwa's brain for some tips.
Kageyama rubbed his hot face in his sobering absence- he'd have to gather his courage alone.
You were leaned over a bench full of various duffle bags, trying your best to quiet your mind with all the celebration behind you, when a presence broke through your focus.
When you looked up, it wasn't a teammate or one of your brother's friends- it was somebody new. Somebody cute, and tall enough.
"Hi?" You glanced around, but found that he was indeed addressing you with an unbroken stare, "Uh- nice to meet you?"
You weren't nearly as mean as the game made you. You were like Azumane, in the way that you seemed quite kindly when you spoke. You were far prettier, too.
"Hey," He muttered, glancing around for a moment in a dismissive fashion, "That was a good game."
Confusion was evident on your face, but you were grateful for the compliment anyway, "Thank you!"
You went back to packing your bag. He was nothing short of lost, fumbling hard with no desire to be upfront and equipped with no other reason to speak with you.
The proximity granted him the clarity to see that you were taller than he thought. Your face was much softer up close, your smile way cuter than the grimace you wore for most of the game. You were too nice for breaking through so many blocks and scoring so many points.
When you realized he was still standing there, you zipped up your bag and faced him again, grasping at straws for something to say. You glanced at his jacket.
"Oh! You play for Karasuno?"
He evaded your gaze shortly after meeting it. He nodded and put his hands in his pockets.
It wasn't necessarily a call-out; you realized his team had triumphed over your brother's earlier today only right after asking him. He must've been able to avoid suspicion in all the commotion.
"What do you play?" You pressed.
"Setter," He answered a little straighter.
He certainly was a good height. He met your gaze, which was more than you could say for most guys. You clocked him as a perfect stranger to start but as you glanced around his handsome features, you began to piece together those two facts-- something was off.
When you opened your mouth to ask for his name, all that came out was a startled reaction to an arm, heavy around your shoulders.
"Well, well, well!"
You rolled your eyes, "Oh my god..."
"If it isn't The King- here to rub our faces in his false win!"
Kageyama squinted, his nose a little scrunched at the nickname, the insinuation, but most of all the contact in front of him. This wasn't going at all to plan. It was like rock bottom was only getting dug deeper around him.
You shook off Oikawa's arm and, despite having no reason to, defended him, "He didn't say anything like that, Toru. Fuck off."
Oikawa huffed like the big baby he was and crossed his arms over his chest instead.
"He doesn't need to. That's just how he thinks."
"Stop projecting," Kageyama spat. He glanced between you now, wary of the fact that you might be dating.
"How do you know each other?"
You asked Toru, specifically.
When you shifted to look at him, there was a thick intensity to the air between them. It wasn't an enjoyable experience, having to brave the rigid atmosphere by yourself. It was like they needed a room.
"They were on the same team at Kitagawa!" A delightful blur of orange cut in.
After such a demanding, arduous game today, this labyrinth of a conversation and all the odd strangers were getting old, fast. You didn't have a whole lot of time to absorb every bit of information. So they went to the same middle school-- great. That did not explain a damn thing. Now this kid looked familiar, too.
Instead of keeping on that train, you took a big breath to introduce yourself to the shorter guy.
"Nobody asked you."
Your face fell. The ball of sunshine faded in a flash. Now everyone was stiff.
"That was mean." You stated, unable to let it slide after a moment of deliberation.
Kageyama looked shocked, like he either didn't realize what he said was cruel, or he didn't expect anyone to call him out on it. You figured it was the latter, given Hinata's sad, no-retaliation reaction.
"Are you Hinata?" You heard yourself guess. There were only so many 5'3 ginger players here- especially none that caused as much of a stir as him.
Hinata nodded fervently and you grinned with a hand outstretched, "Well, it's nice to meet the legend himself."
Delighted as he was, he didn't take your compliment in the slightest. He shook your hand with two smaller ones and you watched his blush spread right to his ears.
"Legend?! You're the legend! We saw your game- that was so awesome!! How do you put that much BOOM in your spike?! I didn't think--"
You laughed chiefly at the 'Boom,' then at his excited rambling.
When he said 'we,' you glanced to his dark-haired friend and pieced together that they must have been there together. He still looked like he was taking your comment personally.
It truly all fell apart at his feet. Oikawa was talking at him, but he couldn't hear a word. He watched past his shoulder as Hinata took his spot, dazzling you with his stupidity and enthusiasm with so much ease, so quickly. How did you know the runt and not the guy who threw his sets?
The thought occurred to him that he had something to learn from Hinata about talking to girls, but it pissed him off so bad that his expression begged a smartass comment.
"Woah- watch out, ugly. Your face might get stuck like that!" He cackled and jabbed a rigid finger at Kageyama's chest.
He choked when you threw a hard punch at him in the back. Hinata stopped rambling at your show of force and backed up a few steps.
"Stop being so childish! God, you're the fucking worst," You ignored his dramatic gasps of pain and looked right over Hinata's head to nod at his friend, "No wonder he doesn't like you."
Regardless of how mean the other guy was, you knew your brother was deserving of everything you said.
"I'm older than you!" He whined, "Ugh- Shit, that hurt! Don't talk to me like that--,"
It was only in this moment that Kageyama understood your dynamic was nothing to be competitive about. Oikawa was your older brother. As much as it was a cosmic 'Fuck you, Tobio,' he was relieved that your eligibility was up to speculation again. Your likeness to him was now obvious, and not a symptom of any familiarity effect.
"Then start acting like it," You rolled your eyes and ignored the yammering that ensued- you looked to that quiet, pretty boy.
He didn't even glance at Toru's impassioned blithering as soon as he felt your eyes on him, "What's your name? You never said."
"Kageyama." He muttered, soft and distant.
There was a faintness to his words, a cloudy preoccupation on his usually sharp expression whenever he addressed you. You understood his intentions now and couldn't help but feel flattered.
Once Toru realized he wasn't going to get any more attention, he deemed neither of the two idiots as a threat to you and joined his team further back into the hall. There was no way you'd entertain dating either of them, anyway.
"So," You spared a glance back long enough to know he wasn't returning, "What were you really here for?"
Kageyama looked a little shell-shocked. His mouth hung open a moment, and he glanced at the floor near your feet. His eyes trailed back up in a way that could've been incriminating, but you decided not to comment on it.
"I just- wanted to say good job. Really. Your technique... is cool."
He was so obvious. You failed to bite back a smile at his -seemingly rare- sincerity.
"It's awesome," Hinata emphasized. When you looked at him, he visibly tightened and felt the need to disguise it with more words, "Man, I wish I could hit as hard as you!"
A shy laugh found you- you covered it with your hand. Kageyama wished you wouldn't.
"I could show you sometime, if you want," You offered. Any excuse to play again was appealing, especially with someone who had this much energy.
He gasped and began speaking with only Kageyama in a big, animated fashion.
A teammate of yours tapped you to let you know your team would be leaving for the bus, soon. Before that, you hadn't noticed how much the crowd was thinning out. There were only a few of you left and you knew you needed to go soon.
You looked at your brother, eyeing your little trio from afar. He wouldn't leave without knowing you were alone and unfollowed. Especially with his antagonistic opinion on Karasuno, in general.
"I can give you my number if you want to set something up. I- really gotta get going."
Hinata's eyes grew wide and sparkly with joy- you could tell he appreciated the offer on a few levels. He quickly fumbled around for his phone and you exchanged numbers.
Kageyama eyed you like a hawk, but you pretended not to notice until you pulled away.
A brief glance at him was all it took to send him back to a broody, avoidant mess.
"Just send me a text when you wanna meet up, okay?" You slung your bag and pushed on his shoulder playfully before jogging away to catch your friend.
There was only a brief moment of silence while the pair walked to rejoin their team.
"I'll break your legs if you don't give me her number."
It didn't put the fear of God in him the way he wanted it to. Hinata, equipped with newfound courage and a dash of arrogance, laughed instead.
"What are you gonna do with it? She won't want a text from you--" He evaded the first swat, got clipped on the second, and almost dropped his phone when Kageyama lunged for his phone a third time.
Before he could succeed in a fourth attempt, Hinata took off in a sprint towards their exit with Kageyama lagging behind.
It was easier to dodge the swarms of other teams and visitors with his smaller frame, but once they reached the end of the hall, it would be up to the mercy of their team to hear his pleas and save him.

Deadly Halloween
Manager Miniseries
─Aoba Josai x fem!reader
─Summary: It seems like you are in a nightmare, unfortunately it is not a bad dream but a reality.
─Warnings: none
13 < 14 > 15
You ran across the highschool, desperate to get to the main gym where Seijo's Halloween party was currently being held. You screamed as you saw that thing try to catch your leg, with the bat you were holding you began to smash its head, desperate for it to die, although theoretically it already was.
Its blood splattered on your clothes, also staining your face, but you didn't care, when you got rid of it, you continued to the gym, closing the doors as quickly as you could, trying to regulate your breathing. No one noticed your presence or what was happening in the city because of the loud music that echoed from the speakers.
"Oh I thought you didn't want to come!"
Oikawa smiled brightly, grabbing you from the shoulder, dragging you over to the group, they were all dressed up so they didn't question why you had blood on your clothes and came with a bat full of nails.
"You look agitated, did something happen?"
Iwa frowned, seeing how your expressions were anything but normal.
"Yeah, it looks like you've seen a zombie!"
Makki patted your back hard, trying to make one of his jokes, however your face contorted when you heard that, zombies. Your mind wandered to the terror you had experienced a few minutes later, with eyes wide open and a face of anguish, your fists clenched tightly.
"Are you really okay?"
You snapped out of your daze when Watari's hand rested on your shoulder. You tried to smile at your friends, but couldn't. Your pulse trembled, letting go of the bat and holding on to the libero in a desesperate hug.
"They have died, e-everyone…"
Many thought that you were acting, that you were part of a Halloween story, but upon seeing your expressions and empty eyes... they swallowed dry. Nothing was invented, the city really was in a damn apocalypse, collapsed from those living dead.
"Th-that can't be! real"
Oikawa looked like he wanted to cry like a baby right there, as did Yahaba and Kindaichi. Watari, Matsukawa and Kunimi remained serious, trying to think of a plan, while Iwaizumi tried to calm Makki, who did not want to believe the truth.
"Then we kill them."
Everyone fell silent when they heard Kentaro, he had disappeared a few minutes ago and now he brought sports equipment that could be used as a weapon.
"Are you crazy?! There are too many!"
Yahaba shook him desperately, he didn't want to die there.
"It will be fine if we stay together."
Now everyone gasped at Iwaizumi's statement, they didn't expect the saner one to trust that idea.
"Okay, if we can block all the entrances, maybe we can wait for someone to come for us."
"What if no one comes?"
You took a look at Makki, who seemed the most nervous along with Kindaichi, you put a hand on his shoulder, squeezing hard and hitting them on the back of the head.
"I called when I was coming here, the authorities are aware of the problem and are mobilizing to get us out of here."
Your words were like a small ray of hope for the others, who nodded, listening attentively.
"Then, let's finish them off."
Kunimi declared, grabbing a paddle tennis racket. The others rushed to grab material that could serve as a weapon.
You all acted normal in front of the others students while covering all the entrances or exits to the outside world, some zombies could already be seen entering the highschool, but no one should suspect anything and anyway, no one would believe you, so the music didn't turn down one bit.
Everyone continued enjoying, oblivious to the carnage that was happening on the other side of the doors. Until one of the students decided to leave, causing the dead that were piling up at the main entrance to burst in, causing total chaos. The screams were heard above the music, which at some point was cut off, now everything was a total chaos of students running, and trying not to be devoured by the monsters. You were ready to kick those beings' bony asses but someone stopped you.
"Sorry, Iwaizumi thinks it's better to run away for now than fight."
Matsukawa dragged you towards the others, who began to run throughout the premises looking for a safe place. They hid in the boiler room because it was in the basement and it would be more difficult to find them there, the areas they wanted to leave through were obstructed, they would prefer to lock themselves in there since it was less likely to find someone or something.
"Is anyone hurt?"
Watari took on the role of doctor, checking that everyone was in perfect condition, luckily there were only a few scratches here and there, but nothing serious. You rested for a while, but as time passed, impatience began to make an appearance.
"We must leave, if they catch us in this place we will have no place to flee, the other exits must have already been unclogged, it will be easier to get out now without all the chaos even though those things are still roaming freely out there…"
For once in his life Hanamaki used the only neurons he had left, if they continued in that place they would be easy prey due to lack of space now that many teenagers have probably become zombies too
"Yeah, we must be in a visible place for when they come for us."
Everyone nodded, running through the hallways toward your destination, the rooftop. Without noticing that the captain was limping a little, they didn't notice until a zombie started chasing you, followed by a few more. Advancing the step, Oikawa became desperate because of his annoyance, he ended up falling making a dull noise that only Iwaizumi and you heard since you were behind the group. The two of you gasped when you saw how four zombies were pounced on your friend. Without time to think, the boy in danger accepted his death in a dramatic way, feeling how blood splashed on his face. When he opened his eyes he met you, he smiled with teary eyes.
"Am I in heaven?" then his gaze went to his childhood friend "Wait, is it hell?"
The vice captain grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, dragging him while you hit him on the head with a frown.
"No, but if you continue like this I will send you to hell myself."
You caught up with the group quickly. When you finally reached the roof you sighed in relief, closing the door and scolding the setter, who practically almost committed suicide.
"Shit, that was close."
You calmed down a little, closing your eyes and recovering the lost air, you looked at everyone with a small smile, sighed heavily, standing up to hug everyone tightly, being grateful that they were still alive. You wouldn't allow anyone to touch your friends.
Suddenly a zombie came out of nowhere, surprising everyone and almost biting you, your eyes widened, leaving all static in surprise. You heard a dull thump after screams of agony that gradually fell silent. You turned your head slowly when you saw that thing decapitated by beatings.
"Are you okay?"
Kentaro scowled, spitting at the dead body and grabbing you so that you were next to him. They wouldn't let you die on this crazy day either.

The Ides of April, chapter 06 - Fool (draft, pt 01)
Currently working on pt 01 for chapter 06, it's been a good distraction from work and RL. Still need to start my reviews on the excellent new chapters from fandom friends, apologies for the delay. Needed to get this first part out of my mind before anything else.
I think this is the most 'yandere L' I could possibly write -- which is to say, L is incredibly evasive and uncomfortable to stand next to when he's onto someone and trying to get them to do what he wants. Going by the manga and Another Note, it's very clear that he just rubs people off the wrong way on a first meeting. And given how he tries to keep the Kira case under wraps, he's not doing himself any favours where Anna is concerned, as he keeps annoying her.
Writing these interactions is an exercise in restraint; the only reason why Anna doesn't immediately hex L and Watari is, simply, because of the RuLes. Unfortunately for her, if only L had been a little more open about their actions, she might've caught on that Watari turned off the cameras at the underground parking lot and at the hotel, so it would be entirely feasible for Anna to have Stunned them both, Obliviated their memories and Apparated at her apartment.
Oh well. Now that she's stuck with them for the foreseeable future she'll be forced to interact with L often. If only he would stop being such a gremlin.
And how would you react if L took you 'hostage' for seeing something you shouldn't?
SPOILERS AHEAD
--
They were parked at the furthest section of an underground, walled into a miserable structure made out of concrete and lit by artificial lights that went on for miles into the cavernous horizon.
A strangely empty one, Anna thought, lips pursed and eyes narrowed as she inspected their surroundings. Holding onto the headrest behind her, she twisted on her seat to prop herself up on her knees just in time to watch through the back window as an automatic door cut them off from all other traces of civilization — vehicles and people alike, strolling across the lot without a care in the world, how ironic — with a loud thud that unleashed a gust of stale air.
The hammering inside her chest increased tenfold.
Next to her, someone spoke softly. Anna tore her gaze away from the window, sneering as she found Ryuga’s vacant stare fixed on her, an odd glint in his eyes that she immediately disliked. He opened his mouth to address her, but she didn’t bother to listen. Instead she turned away, her thoughts running wild; in the UK, she’d be allowed to Obliviate and carry on without a hitch — but for all the blasted rules, restrictions and protocols on how to handle Muggles, no one had bothered to introduce her to the basics of lawful procedure in Japan when unlawfully dragged into danger through coercion or omission.
Though perhaps, she reasoned amid a surge of anger and self-pity, it simply hadn’t been necessary before she arrived. Perhaps she’d been the first witch brainless enough in a century or so to fall into this kind of situation. But what had she done wrong? And who were these people?
Doesn't matter, she concluded. Right now, none of it does. Should’ve known better than to ask for help.
She'd been a fool for ever trusting Muggles.
Anna took a deep breath. The shopkeeper’s words were still burned into her memory: she’d made a spectacle of herself. Mind, if she jeopardized the Statute of Secrecy now without just cause and got caught, she was going to wake up the next day with a gaggle of wizards at her door, telling her to pack her bags and run back to Surrey. Or worse, she’d get arrested on the spot.
Which meant that only one ethical path remained available to her.
But what could be considered just cause? When would she reach the threshold of calamity, so far into danger that she couldn’t do anything but react accordingly to save herself on grounds of reasonable doubt?
I’ll give you one chance, but no more than that. I’ll try to act as a Muggle would — if only because doing otherwise would cause an ordeal of such magnitude that I’m not even remotely prepared to deal with right now.
“This doesn’t look like a police station at all,” she remarked coldly, sinking back into the seat with a grim expression as the leather let out a muffled creak. Her eyes fell on Ryuga's awkward crouch, down to his bare toes and then up to his mane of wild hair. She thought to point out just how poor his manners were but then hesitated, noticing the sorry state of Sarah’s camera, with bits and bobs hanging limp where they probably shouldn’t — and instead settled for a glare. “Curious and curiouser! Or are you going to tell me there's a koban posted at this hotel?”
“Not quite,” Ryuga met her glare without faltering. He was difficult to read, but she got the impression that he’d been bored by her questions. Lazy, he tilted his head towards the driver’s seat. “Are we ready to go up?”
“We are,” said Mister Smith, who fiddled with a piece of Muggle technology she’d never seen before. It made a series of annoying beeps that rang in her ears.
“Thank you.”
"Wait a second, going up where?" Anna demanded, itching to pull out her wand as she watched Ryuga’s feet slide into the pair of beaten trainers he’d kept under his seat (only very barely in, heels exposed like he couldn’t wait to take them off). She tried to open the door on her side, but it was locked. “Blimey, do you expect me to go along with this — this charade when you won’t even tell me what’s going on?”
He sighed. “As I said before, if you would please settle down. We —”
“No! I will not ‘settle down’,” she all but shouted. Then, swiftly, she flung her suitcase onto the seat, directly in no-man’s-land between herself and Ryuga. As if that would help matters in any way. “If you don’t tell me what I want to know right this instant, I’ll scream for help. Just stop being so bloody evasive and talk to me already.” That ought to do it.
Outside, a big yellow light on the wall blinked.
Ryuga threw her an unimpressed glance over his shoulder as he prepared to hop out into the parking lot. “If only you would listen as much as you talk,” he grunted, pausing for a moment to consider her, the bags under his eyes even darker in the dim light. “Whether you resist or come quietly, the result will be the same. But from this moment on, you are obligated to cooperate with us. Please wait to be let out of the car, we will escort you precisely where you need to go.” A moment of silence hung, tense and obnoxious. Then, he added in a quiet, almost mocking tone that Anna could only define as self-indulgent sarcasm: “Don’t take too long to make up your mind.”
What a complete and utter arse.
“‘Obligated to cooperate with you’? That’s quite the turn,” she spat. “First you lie to me and then try to force me to comply with whatever little plot this is. What makes you think I need to do anything you tell me?”
“You’re in no danger.”
She gaped at him, incredulous. “What the — are you having me on?”
“Since you seem to have made it a habit to jump to conclusions despite all visible efforts to accommodate your predicament, I’m afraid nothing we can do will be enough to convince you otherwise. Suffice to say that, for now, the answer to your question is: because it would be in your best interests to do so,” Ryuga said, and before she could react, he grabbed the handle on her suitcase with a pale, bony hand like a serpent’s, dragging it out. Then, he closed the door without another word.
Anna seethed. Oh, who did this Muggle think he was?
“I think you need to pick up a dictionary and review what ‘accommodating’ actually means. Something’s not adding up.”
And what did he mean by her ‘predicament’? Apparently lying was not enough — he still had to twist the knife, making it seem as if she was somehow at fault.
As if on cue, Mister Smith left the vehicle and went round the front until he reached her door, opening it with the utmost care. “This way, please,” he said politely. “We must hurry.”
Anna craned her neck to see where it led — to a grey-ish hall, this one with a lift. Outstanding. “Watari, please escort Miss Green inside. And make sure she doesn’t wander off.”
Watari? But —
Anna narrowed her eyes at Ryuga. “Oh, I see it now,” her voice was like acid. “You must feel empathy like other people feel indigestion.”
When neither men deigned to answer her clever quip, Anna took a deep breath to soothe her nerves and then, on trembling legs, hoisted herself up from her seat. She held onto the door for balance and inspected her surroundings more closely; they were alone in what resembled a private parking lot smelling of dust and old tires, perhaps very deep underground. Deeper than she’d be comfortable with, no doubt. Almost like a tomb, made only slightly less macabre by the lack of spiders and undead roaming around.
Pursing her lips, she tapped her nails on the smooth surface, thinking how she could, hypothetically, get away with a Confundus charm if she was sneaky enough to distract these two by pretending to be, as Ryuga put it, somewhat more ‘cooperative’. Anything short of a full blown fight should be acceptable. But she’d need to be patient, wait for an opportunity to strike.
She turned her gaze towards the older man, Mister Smith, — no, Watari, another lie she’d been caught up in — and saw him cast her an expectant look.
"Perhaps you would rather hold onto my arm, Miss Green?"
No, not really, Anna thought, biting the inside of her lip. Without a word, she nodded and drew out her hand, slowly, towards Watari's helpful arm. It was warm, the fabric on the vest smooth. She inhaled sharply; it felt like betrayal.
Heart thumping so loud she was certain it reverberated across the underground, Anna allowed the two men to escort her into the lift without a fuss. She felt Ryuga’s eyes on her even as he stepped inside; like a scarecrow hanging by invisible threads, he stood immediately to her left, curved forward with Sarah’s camera popping out of his pocket, the strap looped around his wrist, holding her suitcase with his other hand. She suddenly felt very small, besieged as she was by the two tall men, unable to even pull out her wand.
Anna glanced at the floor counter as the lift started ascending, her brows furrowing when it hit number 10, then 15, 16…it went up and up, a never ending journey laced with silence and doubt.
From the corner of her eye, she caught Ryuga’s gaze. He seemed to be studying her intently.
The lights in the lift flickered.

Yandere L Lawliet Headcanons (General)
"I'm always two steps ahead of you, if not more, my sweetie." — L Lawliet.
❝ 📓 — lady l: watching Death Note again and commenting with a friend, I ended up thinking about it and decided to do some L headcanons, because I love him! 🖤 Hope you like it :) 🤍
❝tw: obsessive and possessive behavior, stalking, unhealthy relationships, mention of kidnapping.
❝📓pairing: yandere!l lawliet x gender neutral!reader.
L Lawliet is very scary because he is very smart. A detective, the best detective. He is very good at reading people, at his deductions. There is no running away from him, he will always find you.
He was already stalking you before you even knew it. Before you even knew about his existence, L was already after you. Always behind you, watching you and gathering as much information about you as possible.
L knew about everything you. What was your childhood like, your fears, your desires, your dreams, everything. There is no privacy at all with him, he wants to be able to read you like a book and he does. There's nothing he can't figure out eventually.
He began to appear in your life slowly and normally, for you at least. He just seemed like an ordinary guy who needed some sleep and straightened out his back, but that was it. You had no idea who he really was, how obsessed he was with you.
L has morals that can be easily corrupted when he becomes obsessed. He believes that he is justice and he does in his way, which is not always the right way to do it. He firmly believes in justice above all else, his justice.
He doesn't believe that what he feels, that the things he did for you are considered wrong. L is delusional enough to believe he is right, but he will never do anything against your will. He respects you enough for that.
L is a natural stalker, it's one of his hobbies as a detective. Although he doesn't persecute you in the literal sense of the word, he usually sends Watari to watch you and accompany you somewhere. Whether it's going to school or work, he'll have his butler protecting you.
He won't risk your safety, especially with Kira on the loose. You're not a criminal, but L won't take any risks. He's never made a mistake before and it won't be you he makes a mistake with. Not when one mistake could cause your death.
Always very careful, L would only reveal himself to you when he was sure he would have your trust. He is very, very manipulative and will make you trust no one else but him. Not even your family could be as trustworthy as L. He would definitely lock you up at home if he could.
L has cameras in your house, all aimed at crucial points in your house. In your bedroom, in your living room, in your kitchen, everywhere there is a camera watching you. It had become a habit for him to spend hours a day looking at the images, waiting for you.
He's not the possessive type, but L has his limits and won't tolerate someone approaching you with ulterior motives. He is very quick to think, to deduce that there is someone interested in you and he will quickly push them away from you. He usually uses his manipulation for this. L is not in the habit of killing and will never do so unless it is really necessary.
Once his obsession consumed him for good, L could no longer remain but shadows. He could no longer remain in the background, watching you take risks every day, he needed to do something. And he did, during one night, you woke up in an unfamiliar room and with a pale guy, sitting in a strange way, staring at you intensely. You were finally with him.
You may think you're smarter than him, that you can get away from L, but he'll always be two steps ahead of you. You have nowhere to run. L would finally have you and he wouldn't let you go.

Synopsis: You continue the meeting as planed and can't help but wonder how you feel about Ryuzaki. With a brief time skip and another meeting ending in an argument, L can't help the strange feeling that's growing in his chest... and in his pants ;)
Masterlist
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The meeting continues as planned, this time with Light in attendance, and the group discusses the remaining entries in the ‘Second Kira’s Notebook’. Avoiding Aoyama for the time being, Ryuzaki shifts the attention to the Tokyo Dome game mentioned within the page and proposes for Watari to cancel the event and let the police investigate.
You sit on the couch uncomfortably, unsure if it’s the strange feeling brewing in your chest from your encounter with Ryuzaki or simply a side effect of chasing down a mass murderer who might just be your friend. Light at your side, you keep your attention on the TV as best as you can given the circumstances.
“In this note we can see the Second Kira mentioning Shinigami at the Tokyo Dome…”
Mogi points to the note on the screen and the group nods in agreement, reviewing their own papers and documents for the upcoming events at the arena. Shifting slightly, you resolve to reach forward and grab one of the to-go coffee cups, deciding caffeine might be what you need at this moment.
“Here, let me–” Light leans forward before you can reach the table and picks up two sugar packets as well, “–you’ve had a long day of classes.”
You watch him for a moment before sighing, “So have you though..”
“I guess that’s true… Just let me do this, okay?”
Light laughs gently at how quickly you sit back and let him make your coffee; remembering the way you always drink it with two sugars. Deftly popping off the lid and pouring in the contents of the packets, Light lets steam emit from the cup before gently passing it to you.
“Careful, ok? Wouldn’t want our newest recruit getting out of the task force from some coffee burns.”
“Shut up..” you nudge Light gently enough to not spill the contents and lean down to whisper, “asshole” just out of earshot of his father.
Taking the cup and hovering your lips just above the paper rim, you blow the steam back a few times before taking a sip. Throughout the whole exchange Mogi and Matsuda have been conversing about the Tokyo Dome events schedule while Mr. Yagami and Aizawa discuss alerting the arena security and increasing the police presence in the area. Ryuzaki sits watching all three interactions taking place but his eyes linger on the way Light holds himself around you.
It makes rational sense, the both of you being well acquainted through years of working for his father, though the interaction leaves L shifting in his seat. The smile on Light’s face is natural, with creases in his eyes as he leans in to make another snarky remark in your ear; the simplicity of it all is what leaves such a sour taste he’s unable to recall in Ryuzaki’s mouth.
“Maybe now you won’t look half asleep during the meeting.”
You take a long sip of coffee and gently kick Light’s shin from next to you on the hotel couch, eyes narrowed at his hushed joke.
“I’m not tired.”
“Hmm? Then why do you look like that?”
Like what?
You move the cup from your lips and shiver as the warm beverage slides down your throat, eyebrows furrowed at Light in confusion before your gaze locks onto Ryuzaki’s. It’s a short connection before you break away feeling as ice had been dumped down your back; from the corner of your eyes you can tell he’s been staring and will continue to.
“Let’s focus, ok?”
Mr. Yagami stands and pats Mogi’s shoulder, taking control of the remote and now playing the entire diary’s image once more.
“This,” he points to the Tokyo Dome phrase once more. “A shinigami? I believe this may be an important reference we cannot overlook. It’s obviously an omen regarding death.. But can we be certain Tokyo Dome is the target for this? Both districts of Aoyama and Shibuya were mentioned in this..”
The group looks amongst themselves and you turn back to L, watching as he bites the edge of a hangnail on his index finger in thought. Aoyama and the notebooks weren’t supposed to be mentioned for the time being, not until Ryuzaki had deemed it absolutely necessary to inform the rest of the task force of the plan.
“For now, yes.” L sits forward and now reaches for a small plate covered in bite-sized fruit tarts “Watari, send a message to the head of the arena’s security to inform them of a potential terrorist attack.”
Light sits up from the sofa and turns to the man “Shouldn’t we be investigating all of these claims, Ryuzaki? I agree the Tokyo Dome one is important, but it’s way too obvious… we can’t miss this opportunity to catch the Second Kira.”
His tone is chill and sobering, and you lock eyes with L once more to confirm you were going to keep silent for the time being.
“I agree. If we let the Second Kira slip through our fingers and decimate an entire district it would be catastrophic.” Ryuzaki sits back and looks at the entire group, scanning each face. “We’re going to publish this diary on Sakura TV.”
“What?” Mr. Yagami steps forward with an incredulous shock on his face, “If we publish this, people will react with pandemonium. They’ll live with fear!”
“No– it’s to give each of the local police departments enough time to increase their presence in their respective neighborhoods. Not to mention, give us enough liability to install additional measures.”
Aizawa stares at L in suspicion. “Additional measures? What do you mean?”
“We can’t install additional CCTV without approval and reasonable suspicion of a threat,” L says, pointing to the television with a crumby index finger. “This is more than enough to justify that. No?”
Matsuda ‘wows’ in awe at the reasoning while Light remains motionless on the couch thinking everything through. His demeanor is cold and isolated, radiating an energy that makes you subconsciously lean into Mogi who is sitting on the other side of you on the couch.
“That’s going to take a lot of manpower, Ryuzaki. Are we equipped to do all of that in such a short time?”
“We don’t have a choice,” you chime in, placing the coffee cup on the table. “If you’d like, I can try and reach out to some old internship colleagues working in Shibuya. Try and see if any additional detectives and officers can cover districts we find more at threat?”
Mogi nods and begins mentally reviewing the list of people he knows who could also cover any gaps. “I agree. The faster we act on this, the better chance we have of catching them.”
The group nods in agreement and breaks off into smaller teams in charge of alerting local police, contacting Sakura TV to run the diary, and relaying information back to the NPA about the current plan. Mr. Yagami steps out to a connecting room to make a few phone calls while Matsuda assists Mogi in creating a copy of the diary to send to the station.
“Shouldn’t we send someone to investigate these ourselves?”
Light walks to where you and Ryuzaki have sorted all possible events at the Tokyo Dome, Aoyama, and Shibuya on the respective dates mentioned. You turn to L as do the other members, silently wondering the same thing.
“Yes, I plan on asking one or two of you to go out and attend one of these events listed…” He continues, looking steadfast at Light, “I haven’t made up my mind quite yet though. Let’s work on the current task for the time being.”
Light seems relatively unhappy with the response but doesn't push further; he walks back over to Aizawa and assists in drafting messages to different police quarters. You watch him work for a moment before turning back to Ryuzaki who continues sorting event paperwork next to you.
The proximity is nearly as close as you both were earlier in the evening, and there’s a slight tremble in your fingers at the increased heart rate in your ribs. He deftly moves and sorts papers back and forth with you, occasionally skimming your fingers with his own; the action is enough to make your ears hot.
This is ridiculous. I need to get out this weekend, have a drink, or something. He’s just L… he’s just a guy.
“I’m going to need you to keep quiet for a bit longer if that’s ok.”
“Hmm? Oh, of course.”
Continuing to work as naturally as possible, your voices are barely above a whisper to avoid unnecessary attention. The fresh scent of his laundry detergent invades your senses and is so intoxicating you nearly lean in closer to get a larger inhale.
Despite being able to work seamlessly with Light, working alongside Ryuzaki isn’t nearly as difficult as people had always alluded to. At nearly every NPA meeting and early police briefings in the Kira case, every detective you worked with scoffed at his name. ‘Unable to work with others’, ‘selfish and conceited’, ‘coldhearted and stoic’ were used more times than you can remember in regard to the man at your side.
“Here, these may need to be corroborated with the Second Kira’s tapes for syntax.” Ryuzaki gently offers you a section from the diary and transcript from the tapes. “Are you able to complete that within a few days? Or is your course schedule going to get in the way…?”
“No, I can complete it.”
You take the evidence and organize it into a pile, admiring the man just inches away from you. Not an ounce of condescenion in his voice, he gives you tasks that genuinely need to be completed and he’s decided to trust you with; taking into account your class schedule, each assignment is neither tedious nor grueling.
This is nothing like the stories you had heard, and it’s enough to make you wonder if maybe those overworked detectives at previous meetings had been complaining about someone else. The L at your side is meticulous and competitive, but the way his eyes linger on your lips when waiting for confirmation is gentle and patient.
“I’ll try and have it done in about two days. Is that ok Ryuzaki?”
“Yes,” he says, peeling his eyes up from your lips and blinking a few times before turning his attention to the documents in his own hands. “Yes, that should be perfect.”
*******
Two weeks go by seamlessly and you fall into an easy routine between classes and Kira meetings. During lunch breaks, about twice a week, you meet with Light to discuss not only topics regarding the case, but also regular life as students and 20-something-year-olds. It’s as simple as you remember it being when you first started working with his father. The settings are friendly and casual, though less intimate and honest as you remember them being; taking note every time he begins to change his behavior and what exactly was the topic that seemed to be the trigger.
Working with L has also gotten much easier over the days; Watari picks you up prior to the meeting nearly every day and Ryuzaki has memorized your schedule to call as soon as your seminar finishes to inquire about updates. You report nearly every move, answering when you’ve left home and returned, along with giving him updates on how your paperwork and investigation of Light have been progressing.
On days when classes end early and you’re at home for lunch, you find yourself stopping by the bakery near your apartment and picking up a dozen earl gray cookies on the way to meetings; remembering the way Ryuzaki seems to perk up when he sees the familiar packaging.
It almost feels inappropriate how casual you both have begun to talk to each other; frequent texting that begins to stray just a bit further than completely work related, though they never become too personal. The texts and phone calls that vibrate from the phone L had given you come everyday like clockwork, even on the days where you weren’t scheduled to meet with Light.
The routine this Tuesday afternoon is the same as the past two weeks have been: calling Ryuzaki after your evening class has ended and casually relaying a brief update if you had bumped into Light. The wind is cooler today than it has been in months; gripping your jacket tighter, you balance the cardboard wrapping of the biscuits with one finger as you huddle into yourself for warmth.
Cars pass by in varying directions as you nod to the steady beat of music playing in your headphones, waiting at the intersection for the familiar black Mercedes to pull up. The leather briefcase slung over your shoulder makes an uncomfortable weight push into the muscle, but the feeling is numbed by another gust of wind and hair being pushed into your face.
Before you can adjust the flyaways, a familiar car turns at the intersection and flicks on it’s fourway signals before pulling right up to where you stand. The window cracks. “Y/N, I’m here to escort you to headquarters.”
You giggle at the same line Watari always repeats and slide off your headphones before opening the passenger door and sliding inside. The seat warmers already on, you gently place the box of cookies on the console and sling the heavy bag off your shoulder and onto the floor at your feet.
“More cookies Y/N? You’re going to have a sweet tooth as large as Ryuzaki.”
“Nah,” you giggle and look out the window at the city lights that have flickered on being to blur by. “I don’t anyone could tie him for that.”
******
“I’m just saying if Sakura TV wants to air that ‘pro-kira’ talk show, they should at least–” Matsuda stands with his arms out to Mogi as if his companion were the one he needed to convince to get his opinion delivered, before turning to you. “Oh– Y/N!”
You slide your bag at your unspoken offical spot next to the sofa and place the small box of cookies on the table before shimmying out of your coat and smiling at the man. Watari helps you glide it off your other arm before retrieving a hanger and placing it in the small coat closet next to the door as you greet everyone in the room.
Ryuzaki is already sitting in his usual spot and watches you intently as you make your rounds before plopping onto the couch in between Mogi and Light; his gaze lingers on the small box of tea-flavor cookies.
“Did you ever take ‘Intro to Criminal Psyche’ in undergrad?”
You turn to Light and raise an eyebrow. “Yea, why?”
“Mmm, I’ve been thinking of missing a few classes to work on the task force assignments a bit more. If you have the notes from when you took it, I’m sure that would suffice to replace the material I miss.”
You laugh and nudge him, “Wow, ditching class? The number-one student I know has a rebellious side to him after all.”
Light laughs, though the sound is partially empty of genuine humor. “Of course~, though if it makes you uncomfortable, I’ll just have to actually attend.”
“Let me check my files,” you said, looking over at his dad, who is shaking his head with a sigh from the conversation, “If I still have them saved, you’re more than welcome.”
The moment Light puts his hand on your shoulder in gratitude, the unfamiliar ugly feeling inside Ryuzaki’s gut begins to grow again. His chest is tight with a frustration he couldn’t quite pinpoint, as if the scene in front of him was wrong; similar to a movie spinoff of a book that wasn’t following the plot correctly.
Ryuzaki takes a breath, it doesn’t bother him, it shouldn’t bother him, before turning to the now total members present at the meeting. “Alright, now that Y/N is here, we can continue.”
The group quiets down and Aizawa stands up, holding a variety of documents and reading through them in summary. “Well the DNA procurement is experiencing some delays; with nearly every available agent and officer dispatched to the Second Kira diary locations, the lab is running on a time lag.”
You hum and turn to Watari to take a coffee from the tray he brings around, not bothering to reach for sugar as he’s been preparing it to the exact sweetness you prefer for nearly two weeks now.
“There’s also the issue of Shibuya and Aoyama.” Aizawa flips through to another page and sighs, “We’ve been able to dispatch any colleagues Y/N knows around the Shibuya main entry points, but Aoyama is still more understaffed than I think it should be.”
“Even if we agreed Tokyo Dome was the priority?” Matsuda questions.
“Mr. Yagami, have all the CCTV we’ve requested been installed within the district's limits already?”
Mr. Yagami turns to Ryuzaki and scans through a few documents before nodding, “Yes, they’ve been successfully placed in all the main access points and intersections you’ve requested. Local police also confirm increased presence there on the days leading up to and following our recommendation.”
You turn to Ryuzaki and wonder the same question everyone has been considering for the past few weeks: who was he going to choose to send? Keeping quiet over the past two weeks wasn’t exactly easy, nearly every meeting contained Light protesting the decision to focus too heavily on the Tokyo Dome and pushing back even more when L refused to further explain his decision.
Ryuzaki takes a long moment to consider, idly placing sugar cube after sugar cube into his tea cup and not bothering to look up. A gentle breeze from the open windows pushes his hair to tickle his cheekbones and you instinctively shiver at the drop in temperature. Opening the window for fresh air was a common recurrence, but you couldn’t help but tense at the chill air that always nipped at your skin. Before Light can glance over and offer you his jacket, Watari walks over to the hotel linen closet to retrieve a throw blanket and passes it to you.
Additional stocked bedding wasn’t unusual considering the amount of times members have spent the night in the suite, but the smaller plush throw blankets that seemed to perfectly warm you back up seemed to appear only about a week ago.
“I’ve made a decision on who I want to attend Aoyama, and I want it known that if either party feels too uncomfortable, we can renegotiate.”
You lean in, similar to the rest of the members and hang on to every word. “Light, I’d like you to walk the streets of Aoyama on the date we’ve previously decided. Matsuda, please accompany him.”
What?
You stay frozen in confusion at Ryuzaki’s announcement while Mr. Yagami immediately stands up in protest.
“I’m not sending my son to the front lines! First you accuse him of being Kira and now you want him to be killed by the Second one?”
“Dad–!” Light stands up to argue with his father, “You don’t get to make that decision for me.”
I’m not going?
You look up to look at Ryuzaki who was glancing over at the two men arguing and making no effort to make eye contact with you. He sips his tea and stares indifferently at the spectacle in front of him, occasionally reaching down to grab a cookie you brought.
Despite working with him on the Aoyama plan during meeting breaks in secret, confirming through texts that Light was still unaware of said plan, and even staying later nights to work out any kinks…. he didn’t pick you.
A pang of hurt and nearly anger washes over you as the decision sinks in. The two men arguing over the coffee table now a million worlds away, an ugly feeling tightens in your chest. Had you not proven you were skilled enough to take on a challenge like this? Was all he saw in you was an errand-girl who could watch Light on campus so he didn’t have to?
You look up at Matsuda who was now trying to calm down the chief, and furrow your eyebrows into a sharp ‘V’ formation. No, even the role of babysitting Light was forfeited from you. It’s impossible to focus and the atmosphere is nearly suffocating as jealousy courses hot through your veins.
“Alright, I’d like to further explain the plan before you two go any further,” says Ryuzaki, standing up and placing one foot on the coffee table for balance to grab the remote and flip to the details of Aoyama.
“The diary entry in this event mentions meeting with friends on the streets of Aoyama, a needle in a haystack considering the population density.” He tilts his head to side and continues flipping. “However, there’s a strong chance it’ll come down to just two people: Kira and the Second Kira. At least one of which, we will assume is student age; high school or higher education.”
“So this is another example of accusing Light? Because he fits the age group demographic?”
“Mr. Yagami, please hold all your questions until I’ve finished.”
Ryuzaki takes a metal teaspoon between his lips while he talks, “Aoyama is a wealthy neighborhood and a fashion hotspot, most likely a place to be recommended by a young woman. Please keep this in mind while observing pairs of people.”
Still annoyed by the plan you helped decide on, you can’t help but notice the strange thin smile on Light’s lips as he watches the presentation unfold. Despite his father trying his hardest to prove his innocence, Light doesn’t seem the least bit stressed by the accusation; he’s nearly humming with excitement while you sulk on the sofa.
“Alright Light! Just you and me doing some fieldwork, sounds like it’ll be fun!”
Aizawa smacks Matsuda on the side of the head. “This isn’t a field trip to go shopping and eat at cafes! Both you and Light are placing your lives on the line.”
Matsuda deflates back onto the mirroring couch in defeat while Mr. Yagami remains staring between his son and Ryuzaki.
“Are you sure about this? Light– I don't want him to make you look more guilty when you’re not.”
“Then let me go! If I can find the Second Kira– it’ll only help me clear my name.”
Light’s tone is demanding despite pleading with his father for approval in attending the mission. Even while slightly pissed off, you recognize it to be the same uncomfortable aura from your first lunch ‘date’ a few weeks ago.
No notebooks…?
Remembering the aspect of ‘notebooks’ being an important aspect of revealing the Second Kira, you turn to Ryuzaki who has now finally returned eye contact. Scrunching your brows in confusion at his lack of complete clarity, L gives a short nod ‘no’ before returning his attention back to the father-son duo.
“Is this plan alright with everyone? Anyone not going to Aoyama will have different monitoring tasks during these events so please ensure your availability.”
Mogi and Aizawa nod as Mr. Yagami sits back down in defeat and Light gives a solid statement of his own approval. Matsuda hums in excitement across from you and you sit on the couch with arms crossed and scowling into the space of the corner of the room.
“Alright then, let’s continue with some specifics for how this will all play out.”
*********
A sour taste remains in your mouth for the rest of the meeting as you listen to the plan you helped come up with be delegated to other members. Aizawa and you will be in charge of monitoring CCTV at the headquarters alongside Ryuzaki while Mogi and Mr. Yagami are on standby duty at Sakura TV in case of a break through.
At the usual late hour, the meeting is concluded and you take your time packing up your things as members slowly trickle home. Matsuda stretches and holds the door open for the Yagamis before exiting and leaving you in the room with L and Watari.
“Ryuzaki… can I speak with you?”
L looks up from handing Watari his empty teacup and nods once, “I assumed you wanted to speak, you usually pack up much quicker most evenings.”
Any other time the comment might’ve made your heart rate pick up at his attentiveness to your habits, but this time your heart remains heavy in your chest. Following him into the bedroom as usual, when the door clicks shut the only thing you can do is stand awkwardly in silence.
Hands wet with sweat, you tug at the straps of your briefcase bag and wondering where to even begin.
“Something is bothering you. I can tell.”
Ryuzaki leans against the side of the bedframe casually and stares at your face patiently, showing no signs of fatigue despite the late hour.
You sigh once and take a step forward. “Why didn’t you choose me for Aoyama?”
L watches you for an additional second and closes his eyes for a moment. “I figured that's what you were gonna ask.”
“So… why didn’t you?”
Ryuzaki shrugs and looks off to the messy desk at the side of the room, twitching once as the analog clock on the wall ticks away in the deafening silence.
“I figured Light and Matsuda were the best for the task. That’s it.”
That’s it?
You grip your bag tighter, sinking your nails into the leather, and can feel the anger from earlier beginning to seep out, “What do you mean? Haven’t I worked hard to prove you can trust me? That I would be great for this position?”
“Of course I trust you, but that has nothing to do with this.”
You furrow your brows, growing impatient as he speaks to you as if it were obvious. “What do you mean? I’ve been helping you come up with this plan and been watching Light this whole time… so why is it different?”
“Did you feel entitled to it? Is that why you’re upset?”
You wince and take a step back, embarrassment mixing into the defensive that began building.
Ryuzaki watches your expression and continues, “Matsuda will do just fine watching Light, I’ve already spoken to him privately about it. The other members on this task force are accomplished and determined. Just because you’ve been a great help in conducting this plan doesn’t mean you’re the best person to execute it.”
Your throat feels tight as his words, and humiliation begins to sink in as he speaks.
Of course, other members are veterans at this and you’re still under the position of an ‘intern’ for Mr. Yagami. It’s fucking embarrassing how worked up I’ve become…
“You could’ve let me know ahead of time…when we were planning this earlier…”
Ryuzaki turns back to you, an awkward feeling forming in chest at seeing your dejected face turn away from him.
“Maybe it’s foolish that I was already planning on going but–”
“-- you would’ve thrown the same fit you threw earlier. Announcement of my decision doesn’t mean anything.”
The words are harsh. Harsher than Ryuzaki means for them to come out as he internally struggles with this uncomfortable feeling and he regrets it the moment they leave his lips. Your eyebrows furrowed in a mixture of anger, rejection, and embarrassment; the way you scoff hurts him deeply considering the array of ugly emotions are directed at him.
“Right. Whatever..” you spin on your heel and open the door to finish the conversation. “Thanks for the clarification.”
The words are spit with venom through gritted teeth and you don’t bother turning around to say goodbye. Watari watches the anger seethe off you and makes no effort to create conversation as he follows you out the hotel door and down the lobby to the parking lot.
If you weren’t getting chauffeured by Ryuzaki’s right hand man, hot angry tears would have escaped your eyes, an aggravated scream would leave your lips, and a few punches to an empty car seat cushion may have taken place.
As the car pulls out of the lot, you look out the glass and notice the silhouette of Ryuzaki peering from behind the hotel window curtain before you turn your head the other way. Watari makes no effort to speak and doesn’t protest when you dig your headphones out of your bag and blast music in your ears.
**************
4am - 4 hours after the meeting ended.
Ryuzaki POV
He should’ve worded that differently. He knows, she knows, Watari even knows it judging on the somber and judgmental look he shot Ryuzaki after returning from dropping you home. It’s not like he wanted to come off as an asshole, he usually did to most people, but the fact he came off that way to you was what made this guilt so uncomfortable in his gut.
Ryuzaki lets out a long sigh and leans back in the office chair at the desk in the hotel bedroom, not bothering to sleep. One more shade of purple under his eyes won’t be noticed and L takes this moment to bite at his cuticles in thought.
Why hadn’t he just given you the task for Aoyama?
You had proved yourself more useful than half the people he’s had the displeasure of working with. Patient with his awkward attitude, intelligent with great deductive skills, loyal to his recommendation despite making you observe your ‘friend’ for signs of being Kira, and absolutely beauti-
Ryuzaki snaps his head to the side and rejects the thought before it forms. On a professional level it should’ve been you. You’ve already done so much to help in the Aoyama plan, more so than he could casually give you praise for, and your ability to follow Light and intuition with his behavior made you the perfect candidate. So why didn’t he?
L stands up from the desk and begins to walk aimlessly around his room in the moonlight that seeped in from the windows. Instead of giving you the chance to apply yourself and excel with a perfect opportunity, he has you scheduled to sit in a dark room with him and another colleague watching CCTV for hours on end.
The nasty and ugly part of him was glad when he had made that decision, keeping you away from the front line despite going to school with his number one suspect— this time you could be far away from Light. Safe… with him. Why did he even want that?
Ryuzaki sits on the edge of his hotel bed and shakes his head before looking around the room for a plate of desserts that might be lingering. Of course he knew why he didn’t personally want you prancing the streets of Aoyama with Light. The fact it meant you would be at risk of being killed by the Second Kira, who may not need a name to murder, OR the fact it meant you would be spending the whole day walking around cute cafes and boutiques with Light while Ryuzaki was forced to watch it all on CCTV in multiple angles for multiple hours. He wasn’t sure which option was worse.
Pushing those thoughts back down again, completely inappropriate given the situation, he pulls out his cell phone and runs his fingers down the sides in thought. He should apologize. He knows it, and he also knows you would pretend to be fine during the meeting tomorrow despite actually being pissed off at him. Rightfully so.
Letting out a sigh of defeat, Ryuzaki powers it on and open up your contact and waiting a beat before clicking the dial button and leaning further onto the edge of the bed.
He’s not sure you’re even going to answer until the line rings for a fourth time and a half asleep “huhhh?” rings out from the other end.
Ryuzaki pauses immediately at the tone, not quite a groan but a light and airy moan escapes your lips into the receiver at your sleepy state. L stands motionless at the tone and immediately begins to regret calling at this late hour when his body begins to react against every logical will his brain offers.
“Hello?”
Shit. He realizes he’s taking too long to answer and resolves to issuing a short apology.
“Y/N? It’s L... I’m sorry to wake you.”
“Ohhhh Ryuzakiii”
L swallows hard at the airy tone you use, knowing you have no idea what you actually sound like considering it’s nearly 4:30 in the morning. His breath is labored as he clenches the phone in his hand, nearly forgetting the whole reason he was calling anyways.
“Yes, I’d like to apologize for my words earlier this evening. Though we can discuss this.. Tomorrow.”
“Hmm” There’s the sound of you shuffling on the other end before you continue and yawn in between every other word, “Ohhhh please don’t be mad.. I didn’t.. Mean to be.. A bitch…please– Ryuzaki”
Fuck. FUCK.
Even the sound of his fake name leaving your lips in that tone was enough to make him wince at the familiar feeling growing in his jeans. He needed to end this call. Now.
“No, I’m not mad. Please get some sleep and I apologize again… for calling this late.”
Ryuzaki ends the call and throws the phone on the bed as if the metal had been burning his hand the entire time.
This feeling was wrong, so. Fucking. Wrong.
He doesn’t need to look down to know what’s happening, being a young man in 20s he’s quite familiar with the feeling, but he peers down anyway. The fabric around the fly of his baggy jeans was uncomfortably tight and his cock pushed against the confines of his boxers and denim, throbbing slightly in arousal.
Ryuzaki lets out a shaky breath and thinks a million different thoughts at once, a majority of them full of self loathing and frustration. He was your boss for fuck’s sake. You both had admitted your trust in one another and he would hate himself for the rest of his life if you thought the only reason he kept you around was to sexually gratify him.
He had been around countless female agents and detectives who had been bullied or pulled out of the workforce because of menial relationships. Even Naomi had left the FBI upon getting married. If you ever found out that he was hard at just the sound of your sleepy and disheveled voice, you would probably be disgusted and offended and leave the task force; the very prospect of that being the last thing he wants considering your talent.
A wince escapes his lips when his cock throbs at the image of you now present in his head, and every rational brain cell within his skull is screaming at him to change his thoughts and let himself get soft. But he can’t. Not with the way your lips, coated in that honey flavored chapstick, or maybe lip gloss, you always apply, is painted clearly in his head. The way those very same lips would look around the base of his co-
NO.
Ryuzaki grips the comforter beneath him and folds into himself slightly as his erection painfully begs for some sort of friction to satisfy it. ‘It’s an abuse of a position of power’ is what the world famous detective portion of his brain is saying, while the 20-something-year-old portion of his brain is remembering what the swell of your ass looks like when you bend over the couch armrest to pick up fallen documents.
Shit…
He can feel all logical rationale seeping out of him when twitching fingers move to undo the button of his jeans and let down the zipper of his fly to just apply a little relief. Realistically, you might be interested too.
The thought makes Ryuzaki bite his lip in disgust while his hands betray his brain and move to shimmy the fabric of his jeans to his mid thigh and let his erection stand up in his boxers. The constant replies to all his messages, working late evenings with him, and brushing fingertips more times than a casual explanation could allow, even bringing him those delicious cookies when you realized how much he liked them.
You never did that for Light.
“Shit..”
Ryuzaki sighs in a partially drunk state while he stares at the patch of pre cum seeping through the flimsy fabric of his boxers, his cock aching for relief. The image of you with Light feeds the ugly part of him he didn’t even know had existed; despite knowing you for around a month, the idea of you being close with Light brings an unexplainable frustration to his mind.
While being able to imagine Light’s smug face is nearly enough to soften his erection, the sound of your voice airily moaning his fake name comes to mind once more, and the idea of what it would sound like to hear you say ‘Lawliet’ in that same tone, makes his cock ache even more than he thought possible.
Ryuzaki’s had erections before during your time at the task force, ones that occurred when he happened to fall sleep and woke up with some light morning wood. But this was different. Fingertips pinching the elastic of his waistband, he tugs the fabric down to join his jeans at his mid thigh; a wince escapes his lips at the change in temperature on his dick.
A slight happy trail going down his navel that extended into a full bush from lack of need to trim for anybody, his cock hovers upright with the angry dark pink tip leaking pre-cum profusely. This wasn’t a casual boner he was popping, it was an ugly carnal desire L had written off from having due to his career and work life. Yet sitting on the edge of the bed, all rationale finally seeps out of him.
It must due to be the lack of blood flow to his brain that makes Ryuzaki bring his palm to his mouth to spit into the flesh a few times before coating his shaft in a mix of pre-cum and saliva. The sensation causes a slight groan to escape and his eyebrows to furrow in focus as he spends an extra second massaging the tip.
Giving a few extra pumps to warm up, he begins to slide his hand up and down the shaft with just the amount of tension he likes. The feeling pairs nicely with the image of you in his head, would you jerk him off like this? Or would you want to put those pretty lips to use on his cock while your hands worked on his shaft?
Balls tightening at the mere image, his hips jerk forward into his hand as his body betrayed his brain and grew hornier at the thoughts. What color bra did you always wear? A week ago you accidentally wore a pretty light blue one under your white shirt… did you know he could see it? What did your tits look like when you take it off?
“Nngh… oh f-fuck..”
L swallows thickly and quickens the pace before using his other hand to lift his shirt so he could lean over and spit on his cock once more before taking the fabric in his teeth. His fingers massage the tip before tugging on the skin of his shaft and applying pressure to the enlarged vein that ran on the underside of cock, causing a few groans to leave his mouth.
And what if you did want him back? Would you let him sit under your pretty pussy while you rode his face? Let him eat you out like he had been thinking about… if you tasted even sweeter than he was imagining.
Hips shuddering and balls aching with a heavy feeling, that recognizable coil begins to grow in his abdomen as he increases the speed. Sweat dripping down his brow, he nearly coughs when the image of you letting him fuck you crosses his vision.
Splayed out all pretty and moaning his name. His real name. Or maybe riding him in this very bed while he sucks bruises only he will be able to see onto those perfect pretty tits of yours.
“Fuck.. Y/N… gonna..”
He increases the speed of his hand and can see the image now in a thousand different ways. Him cumming in your mouth, on your face, on your tits, in your hand, in your cunt and then watching it leak out…
FUCK
Ryuzaki tugs a few extra times and exhales sharply when hot ropes of semen begin to pour down his hand and even escape on the carpet below. Rubbing his cock through his orgasm, he lays back on the bed with an exasperating feeling as he catches his breath.
Hot cum on his hand, thighs, and now floor, the post-nut clarity is a disgusting feeling that washes over him. All the images and ways he’s tried so damn hard not to see you in, make him feel no better than a dog with no respect when that’s all you’ve shown him.
Of course it’s more than your body that L is attracted to, but the physical and creepy nature of masturbating to you makes him shiver uncomfortably as a line that shouldn’t have been crossed now has. With one more sigh and mentally shelving the images his brain had conjured up, Ryuzaki sits up and reaches for a couple of tissues on the nightstand.
Sopping up all the remnant cum on his hands, thighs, and carpet, he tosses the tissues into the trash and tucks himself back into his boxers and jeans.
Tomorrow…
Ryuzaki doesn’t want to even begin to consider how he would face you tomorrow, so he decides not to think about it. It was a one time thing, and now that it’s out of his system he should be free from the hypnotic spell you seem to have placed him under. With a sigh, he decides to head into the ensuite bathroom to wash away the physical evidence of his perverted actions and clear his head before facing you in yet another meeting tomorrow. One where you would be fully awake, and he could properly apologize.
