As the summer is upon us, the air temperatures steadily started to steadily increase to higher 20’s with cooler evenenings. Next week we are expecting to hit lower 30’s in Marmaris. While the first establishment dates back to 1000 BC, Dalyan region, now a #UNESCO World Heritage Site, has been home to many civilizations up until 1500 AD. • Kaunos was an important and thriving sea port in the southwestern Anatolia. Near Dalyan, Mugla, Turkey. Kaleköy lies in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, namely Üçağız, 15km drive from Demre, Antalya. • This Lycian necropolis of Simena has been home to many civilizations including Byzantine Empire era outpost of the Knights of Rhodes (formerly St. John). • Although the ruined city was rebuilt by the Byzantine Empire, later on it was abandoned due to incursions of the Arabs. • The name Kekova derives from Turkish “Plain of thyme” is encompassed by the Island of Kekova, villages of Üçağız, Kaleköy and four ancient towns of Simena, Aperlae, Dolchiste and Teimioussa.
