#was it constantine summoning eldritch horror ghost king?

English is my second language, and I've been in internet for a while, so when I saw word "ineffable" for the first time, I made a logical conclusion that "eff" stands for fuck, and ineffable means infuckable, something-I-can't-fuck

Which made suspiciously a lot of sense actually. I think the first time I've met this word, it was fanfiction, probably dpxdc. So there's some eldritch creature, and author describes all those fangs and claws and incomprehensible fear brought by being close to something like this, and then the word "ineffable" is used to describe the creature. And to me it looks like the narrator just sees something terrifying and magical and goes like "hm, this one even I won't be able to fuck". And I went with it!

I was like "yeah, makes sense". That's absolutely the first thing you think about when you meet a demonic creature so terrifying your mind can't comprehend it, obviously. And it's fanfiction after all, and writers here are known for being unhinged and kinda weird (not that I don't like it, I love weirdos), so yeah.

And I've met this word several times afterwards, and every time it made sense and didn't even change the meaning of text much!

I didn't realise until I saw ship's name "ineffable husbands". Does that mean that they're asexual? Is it some different layer of meaning, something about how cool they are? So I go to google, and, well, here I am. Writing a post.

Spirit Guide

Constantine is showing Billy Batson how to use magic (after discovering the kid doesn't have a mentor and again, IS A KID), they are entering into "Black Magic" and all that, Constantine is moraly grey so Billy don't care.

For practice they summon a Spirit to help Billy with his next classes, Constantine expected it to be dangerous cause you know, champion of magic and all that, but is surprised when into the summoning circle is a ¿Teen? (his age seems to change at times) in a hazma suit judging them. Honestly he is just happy Billy didn't summon a world threat (as far as he knows).

Billy explained Danny the situation and he accepted to help him with magic, he doesn't know a lot about it but can ask Desiree or Ghost Writer for knowledge. He also agreed in helping Billy when needed after heard about the "I am Captain Marvel/Shazam" mess and told him he is a protector spirit himself.

Constantine was amused cause that kind of ghost is rare, maybe the kid just have good luck. After that, Danny goes back and forth to Billy's lessons, helping him in both magic and being a kid hero (with some lessons about ghosts, dimensions and everything useful he can remember), he sees him as an apprentice of some kind. Billy even started calling him "Teacher Phantom".

He told Clockwork about it, completely proud of the boy's progress. Clockwork just judged him for not telling his supposed apprentice that he was the Ghost King but Danny didn't see the point in doing so.

Or at least, he didn't see the point of mentioning it until Constantine summoned the Ghost King for help with one of his subjects and as most of the heroes prepared to fight (cause this was supposed to be an unknown threat and probably hard to convince) Captain Marvel/Shazam was shocked and yelling "TEACHER PHANTOM?"

Which of course made Constantine curse his luck as the league misinterpreted everything. Danny might have made a miscalculation or two, but he didn't want to lose their friendship or tell them he was immortal, he was cut off from humanity for a long time.

So I've seen a lot of fanfics with Danny being described as some type of eldritch horror. But I thought it might be cool to see Danny be summoned by the league or a cult instead of him coming out looking like the king of the infinite realms or a demon; he looks like a biblically accurate type of angel. And once he is summoned, he gives off a calming and almost weightless feeling that makes the league really think he's an angel. And when he transforms into his phantom form with white hair, super pale skin, and freckles that look like constellations, this belief is reinforced even more. Danny, for his part, thinks this is a good thing because he's unsure how the league would react to him being a half-ghost king of the afterlife. And if the Justice League wants to think he's an angel, well, no problem, he can act like an angel totally……. Definitely.

I thought it might be funny as well to have Danny, while pretending to act like an angel, mess with Constantine. This would be especially funny if because of all of the soul contracts Constantine has made its become Danny’s problem as the king of the infinite realms. That for the last four mouths or so Danny has been trying to work out all of these deals with the varies parts all while new contracts keep coming in. So if given a chance to mess with the man you know Danny ‘little shit’ Fenton will do so.

Getting eggs at 2:52am Jason in civies comes across the meta? Bats has been annoyed about at a cornershop/bodega The kid is getting eggs and is spooky

Polite Overshadowing Jason gets overshadowed in a polite way by a fed up ghost king.

Beast boy smells Death beast boy follows a boy that smells like death (Danny) and who tries to shoot a thermos at him. What the kid says is only more confusing.

The Franken Core au a response to someone's prompt/au where the GIW messed with the core of a halfa and an eldritch horror was the result. And jazz runs away with EldritchThermos Danny.

Rude Interruptions a cult summons the ghost king when he was on a date. He is not amused.

Wrong ghost kid Sleep deprivations result in Danny supposedly scruffing Dani, who was threatening some ppl with a sword and calming him down. Except he def had the wrong kid.

Arkham Internship Jazz is the interning at Arkham and a unphased badass about it.

Danny's Arkham Vaca Danny portals into arkham and isn't allowed to leave, so he decides to take a break along with making some new changes in the asylum's structure

Ghostly Retribution Danny decides to employ some petty yet unsettling revenge against one Joker while in gotham.

Smash the plate Danny is so very confident that he is not Bruce Wayne's kid, but a dna test proves him wrong.

No biggie Danny is a chill af manner calms down a pit enraged red hood leaving confusion in his wake

Pop goes the lazarus creature Danny pops out of pools of extoplasm when too much damage happens. One time it happens to be a pool right in the middle of a ninja and bat fight. And apparently this pool of extoplasm is sentient and very angry.

Accidental Kidnapping bat kids take home someone they presumed to be Tim, no one realizes this until 3 days later

Uncle Connie  Jack was disowned or cut off his family that were in the ghost/spirit field and somehow is related to John Constantine. It’s a surprise to find out that your somehow nephew is the ghost king.

Roofhopping Fenton Fam moved to Gotham and Danny decides that roof hopping is the best thing to do with the stress of it, even if he’s doing his best to avoid certain bat and bird-themed vigilantes. 

Concussions and mistaken identities  P.2   P.3 Danny is dragged somewhere by Jack while concussed and ends up mistaking Bruce as his dad. Bruce mistakes him for tim.

Summoning an overwhelmed teenager danny is stressed to the max and being summoned to deal with a ghost problem he didn’t even know about is the last straw, cue crying. 

The Kid There is a kid that keeps fighting Joker like a rabid animal in Gotham. it’s always on sight. including in Arkham.

Clockwork's Chosen: Danny gives prophecies and answers questions he shouldn’t know the answer to. It’s a normal occurrence at Casper High, but after graduation, Gotham better prepare itself.

Feral clown senses activate Danny goes feral mode when a clown is near, even in the middle of a conversation. Sam and Tucker have a routine for when this happened, despite how everyone else is so so very confused (including vigilantes). 

Just a hole in the wall  Kon gets hit by a spell from Klarion and ends up punching an interdimensional hole to one ghost boi trynna sleep

Cadmus Clones Somehow Ellie and Danny were frozen for study by Cadmus and then found by the JL who think they are clones. 

Sleepy thermos kid Danny due to circumstances falls asleep in the worst/best times/locations. Including one point just on top of Red Hood after helping him out by wacking the enemies with his thermos. 

Skeleton Key Tired danny used the skeleton key and ended up at Wayne manor

Put a gun to my head Immortal Danny living in Gotham got caught up as a hostage and shot in front of the bat. but low and behold, he’s not just gonna let that pass

Reaper’s Dance Danny does an ancient ghosty dance to ease the lost/forgotten/dammed souls in Gotham after being taken by the Wayne’s after his family died

Powerpoint Intervention Danny was taken by the JL under the assumption of being a clone of Tim, and when he finds out it was because they thought he was a clone, he decides to hold an intervention consisting of a very long powerpoint presentation.

Star the Clown Danny actually ended up liking clowns when dealing with his feelings about the freakshow incident, so much that he absolutely hated the Joker who gave clowns a bad name. and what better way to make him pay then be a clown who interferes with his plans. 

You lied  P.2 Danny finds out the Waynes are the bat and feels betrayed because now it feels like a lie (or so he thinks)

What came after the King  Pariah Dark is still the Ghost King and can be summoned, but what is more concerning is the creature that follows. 

Ripped from the core  Danny was ripped from his core and in some small shadow eldritch form stuck in Gotham. Instead of trying his luck with the bats and birds, he decided to try it with a scaly guy underground. 

Hit da bricks  After years of captivity and essentially torture from the GIW Danny lets himself slip into a fake world to escape the pain, he wakes up in the body of R-13, a clone of the robins from Cadmus, and then makes his escape. Except it isn’t actually a dream but real.  (I made three parts so far in response to Omni’s initial response to the prompt. they named the au and actually have their own branch of the story that you should def checkout!!)

Danny created the Infinte Realms

Stolen core Vlad took away Danny's core leaving Danny half of who he is, feeling hollow. Certain ppl at thr wayne gala notice.

You dare to touch the stars? Danny has been captive of GIW but what makes him snap and finally break free is when they dare to bring in the Martian Manhunter.

Impending Doom, Unmoving Bodies

Thinking about Eldritch/God Danny and how is "true" form becomes far too powerful for his human body

How whenever he turns into his true form he can feel his ghost core become stronger, more whole.

Because he's getting closer to death.

His human form decays every time he changes, blood would leak from his eyes, ears and mouth when he changes back. Hair begins to turn white and thin as the follicles die, he becomes thinner while his joints would turn stiff as rigor mortis-like symptoms became more prominent every time he changes.

Sometimes he couldn't move for hours after his transformation, having to choose what position he wants to be stuck in before he turns back.

The temptation of giving into his ghost form pulls at him more and more each day, he's tired of seeing his loved ones worried faces every time a "flair up" would happen.

Even the A-listers at school have stopped throwing him around as his condition got worse.

He hated it

He wanted to sour in the sky, he wanted to feel the weightlessness of zero gravity without the fear of being stuck on the ground for hours.

He wanted to be thrown around by his friends again and have them not worry about breaking his now fragile bones.

He wanted to sleep without covering his ears with his pillow, trying to block out his parents hushed discussions about his new "condition" and the cries that would always follow afterwards.

He wanted the first-aid box in his room to be less empty, for Jazz's hands to become clumsy with bandaging the cracks appearing on his skin, for the needle to pierce too deep and hear the hastily apologies that would poor from her lips in a mix of embarrassment and horror; if only to have something break this new stifling silence they've now gotten used to.

He worries about the day his movements would cease, whether that be from death or his joints locking, this time without a key.

So when he felt a sharp tug at his core, his skin prickling with an unstoppable transformation as he was called for a summoning, he couldn't help but cry out in mourning.

The circle drawn on the ground glowed with a sickening green as black ooze bubbled and pooled from the runes.

When the Justice League decided to summon the new Ghost King in order to determine it's threat level they where prepared for anything.

Everyone was present and geared up, on stand by in case something went wrong.

Green speaks gazed upon the group as the rest of it emerged, sitting on the now ruined chalk markings.

A sense of foreboding and wrongness washed over the Hero's when a clawed hand breached the surface of the inky darkness.

It scratched and dugged it's talons into the ground, finding purchase to haul itself up from what ever hell it was called from.

A coldness dragged up their spine as a voice, oddly young sounding, echoed throughout the room and rattled inside their skulls.

"WhY hAve YoU sUMmOnEd ME"

They all looked to Batman, the one who proposed the idea, as he stepped forward. Not noticing Martian Manhunters face slowly contort in a grimace.

"Are you the new Ghost king, the one who defeated Pariah dark?"

He only got a nod in return, although it was hard to tell when it's body seemed to all be melded together.

"We have summoned you to gather information on whether or not you're a threat to Earth-"

The creature, ghost? Reared back as if stuck.

"IN FoRmaTiOn? INFORMATION!"

The ceiling overhead rattled as the room became shrouded in darkness, the lights have been blown.

"YoU HAvE SUMMOneD ME FoR QUESTIONS?!?!"

A cry rang out as everyone whipped around to see Martian Manhunter crumple to the ground, fingers digging into his head as tears fell from his eyes. Face twisted in agony.

Batman took a wide stance in front of his colleague while Wonder Woman and Green Lantern knelt to the sides of Manhunter.

"Oi! What are you doing to him!" Constantine yelled from beside the Dark Knight, cigarette butt clenched between his teeth

"YOU DARE ASK ME THAT, AFTER WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!!"

"Done? We have done fucking shi-"

A wail cut John off, one from either side of the room as the Ghost King began to shrink.

They all braced themselves as tendrils burst from the ground and pierced the roof, causing a chunk to fall and expose the night sky before being sucked back and wrapped around the rapidly shrinking figure.

The Ghost Kings cried warbled around the room, growing quieter and less echoey more... high pitched.

The awful sound would be choked off with a cough or gurgle before continuing.

It's stark white hair was a striking contrast to the black ooze that lingered on the ground, it's chest heaved with sobs becoming increasingly more gurgled with each cry.

The form got smaller, and smaller and smaller.

They thought he was retreating when it stopped, leaving a crumple humanoid figure laying on the ground.

The Dark Knight and Constantine walked carefully towards the prone figure, ready for it to spring back up and attack them, but what they saw hurt more than any wound could.

A boy had taken the Kings place, at first they thought The Ghost King made the boy take his place before fleeing. That was until it- his eyes snapped towards them.

Gleaming whirlpools of green snapped towards them, his mouth agape and chin trembling.

Tears cascaded down his cheeks, hallow and gaunt, mixing with the green and red blood that dripped from his mouth, ears and eyes.

Constantine knelt beside the kid, hovering his hand over the protruding ribcage.

"Oh god kid what happened to you?"

He watched as the boy tried to open his mouth, to answer or let out another sob was unknown as his jaw seemed to be glued shut.

It no lingered tumbled despite the heaving of the boys chest, his cried now muffled, yet no less deafening.

Green became blue as one thought was shared between the two men.

His eyes drifted off to the ceiling, staring at the hole he caused meer seconds ago.

A few stands of his hair turned black as a white flash blinded them, two white flickering hoops drifted apart up and down his body, revealing a pair of stary pyjamas underneath.

Constantine should've known doing a favour for a guy like Batman would be a mistake.
