my words were: reach, gentle, ache, and alarm
reach
The exposed wires of the tin man would shock Ren if he didn’t have an immunity to electrocution — a side-effect of his ability — but the tin man has an inhuman reaction time and reaches up with barely-articulated fingers to grab Ren by the neck. When being strangled, it’s also gut-instinct to reach for the hands restricting your breathing. When you’ve been trained to be a fucking soldier for all your life, Ren doesn’t have any problems taking that dagger — lifted an inch into the air, feet scrapping the concrete floor — and jamming it between the mock-ribs of the tin man. Nickei doesn’t bother helping.
gentle
“No need,” Frankenstein says, taking his hand out of Nickei’s reach and rubbing at the decomposing area. The infection from the Dark Divine has spread to the bone, something it has a more difficult time melting. Frankenstein only sighs upon seeing it, taking his uninjured hand and running it over. Underneath his touch, it regenerates. Not in a perfect, concealed way, unable to see the damage — every single nerve reconnecting, every severed and blackened tendon fusing itself back together with the gentleness of a bomb. Around the regenerating area lies fault lines — areas announcing which skin is new and which skin is old by the sickly green tint around the edges and the different colors of the new skin.
ache
Nickei doesn’t register the ache in his hands, in his nails, and it is worse — worse than coming back from the dead. He thought that already. He’d rather be dead. His nose hurts. His cheeks hurt, and there is this buzzing, and he doesn’t know — is that in his head, too? Is it? No. It isn’t. Protect. He doesn’t know what he needs to protect.
alarm
i don't actually have an instance of "alarm" yet ! tho i'm sure that'll change :p

Taste me
Rating: Mature (18+ No Minors allowed)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characters: Laios Touden Content: Smut, Cunnilingus, Fingering, Semi-Public Sex Word count: 3805 Reader has a pussy and and wears a skirt. Everything else is up to interpretation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Laios, you're so special to me.”
Currently you lay on the hard and rocky floor of the dungeon. Pebbles and sharp edges poked your soft flesh and the back of your head started to ache from being pushed against its hard surface. But how could you possibly pay attention to that when you have the world's most handsome explorer in between your thighs. If you would've known that this is how confessing would've turned out you would've done so much much sooner.
Laios and you had shared mutual attraction for each other for sometime now. You, of course, noticed it much earlier than Laios ever could've. He was such a cutie, even though he was doing his best to hide his affections towards you it was impossible for you not to notice his longing gazes at night by the fire, or the extra portions of food that he would put aside for you. You would have been a fool not to notice any sooner.
Knowing Laios for as long as you have you knew that approaching the subject subtly was not going to work out with Laios. When it came to romance, it was not going to cut it. The love of your life was caring, sweet, and knowledgeable on all things monsters and dungeons, but he was not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed when it came to social cues. You didn't mind of course, that was one of the things you found the most endearing about him. No matter how wary he was of other people and their intentions he always did his best to stay as genuine and sincere to himself as he could. The way he was so brave and willing to be unapologetically himself made you look up to him and admire his strong will. But gosh was he dense.
Swallowing your own nerves you knew that if you wanted this relationship to advance anywhere you were going to have to to set things in motion. Not wasting any time one evening after eating a dish that consisted of harpy eggs and vegetables from senshis garden you volunteered to accompany Laios on a quest to find some extra fire material.
Walking alone in the dungeon halls was not the most romantic ambiance or the place where you imagined you would have your love confession in - but this was Laios you had fallen for, confessing here was probably his equivalent of a grandiose cherry blossom confession.
He had been rambling about his dream monster, something he had only spoken to you about, apart from his sister Falin, before you interrupted him. “I'm so sorry Laios, you know I love your monster talk…but there is something important I have to talk to you about.” you wrung your hands into the fabric of your long skirt, twisting and pulling to find confidence in between its threads.
Sensing your nerves Laiois placed a gentle hand on your shoulder and nudged you to turn your body slightly towards him. His gorgeous puppy dog amber eyes peered into yours and scanned your face over, you guessed he was checking you out to see if you had any injuries bothering you. In return you averted his own gaze and stared down at your fidgeting hands. Finally he spoke up to break the silence, “Hey? Everything alright? Did the food not settle well with you?”
Oh silly Laios, always thinking about food, If you weren't so nervous right now you would've laughed at his question. Shaking your head you found the courage to lift your eyes back to his.
You knew that Laios at least held some sort of affection towards you. You were still unsure if it ran as deep and as passionate as your feelings for him but you knew there was something there. You also knew that even if Laios wanted nothing to do with you in that way he would never belittle you for it. He was gentle and kind, a little too much sometimes, but he always treated others with respect. He had never done anything to hurt you purposefully. So you weren't quite sure why you felt so shaken by your attempt to confess. You supposed, that is just what love feels like.
You really hoped it would get a little less scary in the future.
“Laios, I think I love you.”
There, you said it. As blunt and straight to the point as you could, You made sure to leave nothing up to interpretation for Laios. You wanted him to fully understand the gravity of your feelings for him. Feeling anxiety crawl up your throat you quickly added “And it's okay if you don't feel the same way. Or if that's too much too soon. I just wanted you to know.”
The more you spoke the more you felt your voice die in your throat, each word sounding quieter than the last. Laios had still not said a word, but he stared at you with wide eyes and a slack jaw. In this moment you felt like you could puke from your nerves and yet you still thought the man in front you couldn't possibly look any cuter,
Suddenly you heard him take in the biggest breath of air he could muster, alerting you that this man had stopped breathing since you confessed to him, and then exhaled with the most hearty laugh you've ever heard come from him. His cheeks bloomed in hues of reds and pinks, unstoppable rivers of blood that reached the tip of his fingers and pooled to his neck. His eyes blinked rapidly as if he was trying to make sure he wasn't in a dream. “Please,” he hiccuped, “Do you mean it?”
You stared at his face before lowering your gaze to his lips. They were slightly parted and you could get a glimpse of his cute pink tongue. He must've noticed your stares because he let his tongue quickly swipe over his lips to wet them. Gazing back up to his eyes your hand finally let go of its death grip on your skirt and instead gently nestled into the side of his face. “I wouldn't even dream about joking about this Laois.” His eyes suddenly felt too intense for you so you closed your eyes and took another deep breath, “I love you and I can't contain it anymore. From the moment I met you I fell so deeply for you. You're so perfect. So kind.” You rubbed gentle circles on his cheeks, “‘You drive me crazy.”
Every word you spoke felt like a punch to the chest for Laios. In the best way possible. He never knew that hearing you sing such praises about him would affect him so viscerally. To his embarrassment he began to feel his pants become uncomfortably tight. “Not right now,” he thought. He didn't want to ruin your confession with his pervy thoughts.
He brought his hand up to your wrist and held it in his grasp. You observed how his eyebrows crinkled in frustration as he shut his eyes tightly. His breathing seems labored and small beads of sweat began to form on his hairline. If it wasn't for his grasp on your wrist you would have fallen backward from the overwhelming amount of desire you felt for him. Gods…you wanted him so bad.
Taking advantage of his closed eyes you let your own travel. You started off by staring at his lips still moist from his tongue, but your sinful desires seemed to take full control of your actions as you let your eyes wander further down his body. His armor in the way of you admiring his chest annoyed you for a second before you got a glimpse of something better. So this is why he was in deep concentration.
Laios was suddenly shook from his stupor when the sound of your airy laugh reached his ears. Slowly peeking his eyes open he was welcomed by the sight of your beautiful face. Eyes clouded with something he couldn't describe stared directly at his current source of frustration. Gasping he pushed himself back and dropped your wrist as if it had burned him.
He opened his mouth once, twice, three times to attempt and get some words out but for the life of him he couldn't form a single coherent sentence. A thousand things ran through his head and now it was turn to fidget with his hands. Pulling and picking his fingers he turned his body to face the wall behind him. He knew his silence could be taken wrongly and the last thing he wanted was to mess up his chances with the most beautiful woman he’s ever met.
Thankfully, you knew the man you had fallen for better than you knew yourself. So you allowed him to have his moment alone. After all, you were more than pleased with his reaction to your confession.
Finally he turned his head to the side, body still facing the wall, and began to speak up. “I'm sorry, I promise I'm not a perv. I don't know why I'm reacting like this,” He took in another deep breath, “You deserve a more romantic response.”
Giggling you made your way towards him and wrapped your arms around his armored torso, resting your head against his back you let out a content sigh. At this sudden feeling of warmth Laois tensed up before he quickly relaxed in your arms. “You're perfect Laios.”
Fuck.
He was so fucking hard. Did you even know how much power you had over him? How all you had to do was ask him to give you the world and he would do it. You could ask for the moon and the stars and he would spend his entire life figuring out how to do it. He loved you. Oh he loved you so much. Gods, the minute he laid eyes on you for the first time, you introduced him to a thousand new emotions he had no idea what to do with for the first time in his life. He knew what attraction was, and he understood what it meant. But love? This type of love? He wanted to learn everything about it solely with you.
Gaining confidence he flipped his body to face you, careful with your arms as he held them against himself. You could've melted in his arms right then and there, he looked at you with such adoration and love you almost felt bad about how much it excited you…almost. Testing the waters you pushed your body against his, feeling his boner poking your body.
“Hmph- wait (y/n),” his face becoming impossibly more red than before. He laid his head on top of yours and breathed in your scent. There was no way he was going to be able to control himself for much longer if you kept testing him like this.
Feeling bold, and a little impatient, you positioned your arms to wrap around his neck and brought your lips to his ear to whisper “It’s okay baby, I feel the same way too.”
You gently grabbed his, very sweaty, hand and placed it on the hem of your skirt. “I want you Laios,” his fingers curled around the hem, “If you want me too then I'm all yours.”
That was all he needed to hear. Almost too fast your skirt was pooled around your ankles and the cold dungeon air kissed your bare legs. Still pressed against him you not only heard but felt the vibrations of his almost animalistic growl he released.
Gently separating from him you reached for the bottom of your shirt and pulled it off, discarding it on the floor. You wished there was a way to permanently tattoo the sight of Laios staring at you as if you were an angel sent from above into your eyelids. He made you feel so loved, so beautiful. One of the many reasons why you fell in love with him.
He quickly reached out for you once more and attacked your lips with his tongue, he wanted, no he needed, to taste you. Hot breaths melted into each other and moans danced together in the air. Your fingers wrapped around his ash blonde locks and slightly pulled whenever he would bite down on your lower lip with his teeth. As dreamy as this felt, there was still something bothering you. Tilting your head away from Laios you watched as he instinctively tried to follow your lips before you rested your palm against his. “I dont think it's really fair that I'm the only one half naked here.”
Gasping at your confession Laios began to fumble with his armor. Amused you watched as he clumsily pulled it off with a sense of urgency. Now Laios was not the type of person to hyperfixate on his body. He never really put in the time to debate whether he was handsome or not. His mind was always preoccupied with monsters, food, dungeons, and only recently you. But now that you were in front of him, waiting and watching, he felt the ugly sensation of insecurity make its way into his mind. Maybe you would take one look at his body and wish you were with someone more toned and ripped. He wasn't the skinniest guy, and for the first time ever he didn't like that.
You noticed he was hesitating with removing his shirt and it honestly broke your heart. So you approached him and placed your hands on either side of his cheeks, squishing the fat causing his face to contort into an adorable little pout. “We don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with love,” you gave him a little peck on his pouty lips, ”But trust me when I say I love you. ALL of you. Including your body.”
Oh…you were not real. That's all Laios could think. How on earth was there such a perfect person? An actual Goddess walking amongst mere mortals like him. How did someone as perfect as you fall for someone as strange as him? He didn't notice it but his eyes started to sparkle with unshed tears. For so long he's been alienated from this type of affection. Something he didn't know was bothering him deep down inside until he finally got it from you.
He swore right then and there he would do anything to make you feel good. If you were a goddess then he was your most loyal worshiper. He finally removed his undershirt and stood before you bare chested. Before you had time to admire him he kneeled at your feet. “Laios? What are you doing?”
“(y/n)...” He lifted your right foot and placed gentle kisses on it, “I'm going to show you just how much I love you.”
Your words died in your throat as you watched him begin to trail his kisses from your foot to your ankle, and from your ankle to your leg. Every time his lips made contact with your skin your core pulsed with desire. His eyes never breaking contact with yours. Mentally imprinting your cute expressions and sounds into his mind forever. Finally he arrived at your inner thigh, its plushness making his dick twitch with excitement. If he wasn't so far gone he would've been a little embarrassed. But just a little.
He tried, he really did try, to control his impulses and not bite that delicious plush skin. But alas he was still a man, and you were so cute, so so cute. You jolted and gripped his hair when you felt his blunt teeth push down on your thigh, it hurt, but it felt so right. This continued on for a while before you started to lose your patience. You needed to be touched and he was taking too long, ignoring the most sensitive part of you. Bucking your hips you anchored his face to your core and held him there with your grip on his hair, not missing the moan he let out at your sudden dominance. “Then stop teasing and show me just how much you love me.”
His hands gripped your hips and he pressed his nose in between your folds, fuck you smelled so good. He was inexperienced with pussy but he was a professional eater, so he let his instincts take over. Pushing your underwear down he wasted no time connecting his tongue to your sensitive folds. He began by lapping up your delicious juices, immediately trying to guess what the flavor resembled. It was a bit tangy but somehow had a little bit of sweetness to it. He wondered if the food you had eaten today affected its taste, specifically the candy they had made with the dungeon spirits. This only made his cock impossibly more hard, already planning on tasting your delicious pussy every night after a good meal just to see how much it affected the way you tasted. Fuck was he in deep.
Wanting to get a better taste he searched for your hole and once he located it he wasted no time pushing his tongue inside, fucking you with it. You began to roll your hips on his face, trying to meet the pace of his tongue. Your freed one of your hands from its deathly grip on his hair and moved it towards your clit. As good as Laios was making you feel, you needed a little more stimulation. This of course was not missed by him.
Separating from your core with an obscene pop, he looked up at you, his mouth, chin, and even his nose glistening with your juices. “Please (y/n), teach me where to touch you.”
Oh you were much deeper than him. But how could you not be?
Pushing yourself off the wall you were previously leaning on for stability you decided to lay down. Spreading your legs you used your hands to spread your pussy for Laios to observe. “This right here is called the clit, this is the most sensitive area.” He nodded along with extreme enthusiasm. Typical Laios you thought.
“You can rub it, lick, or suck on it.” You then inserted two fingers into your wet hole. “You already know what this is, but if you finger me here while licking my pussy-” a small whine managed to escape your lips, “You'll make me cum in no time baby.”
This brings us to where this originally started. With you writhing and moaning against the harsh dungeon floor as Laios abused your swollen pussy in every which way. So lost into your pleasure you couldn't even tell what was his tongue and what was his fingers anymore. Meanwhile Laios was having the time of his life in between your legs. While he was pleasuring your cunt, savoring, sucking, lapping, and overall devouring you, his hips bucked into the floor, chasing his own release. He could cum just by eating you out.
You felt your legs begin to shake involuntarily, and you knew what this meant. “Laois! Im- Im-!”
He knew exactly what you were trying to say by the way your legs began to grip his head “Mmph, cum for me baby.”
He flattened his tongue on your clit and began bobbing his head side to side as fast as he could, occasionally stopping to suck on it with fervor. Meanwhile his fingers were pistoning your hole, curling inside to find your sweet spot. A sudden hot flash of pleasure completely took over your body and you couldn't contain yourself from gushing your orgasm all over his face. You swore you saw white as you let out your release.
Laios felt so good he could cry. Your taste, your moans, your pussy, your everything was too overwhelming. He wanted more and at the same time couldn't handle it. With one last buck to the floor he felt his own searing release take over his body. Cumming in his underwear the vibrations of his own moan electrifying your cunt.
After a few moments of you both catching your breaths and riding out your orgasms in bliss the reality of where you were hit you both like a ton of bricks.
Oops.
You prayed the rest of your party members were too distracted with their own chores to have heard the sinful indulgences you and Laios participated in. In the middle of the dungeon no less. Oh well, you were too content with the man who was currently laying on top of you to really care. Unfortunately you knew that they would eventually come looking for the two of you if you took too long to return. Patting his back you pushed your body off the ground with your forearm and placed a gentle kiss on his head.
Moving his head to look into your eyes he let out a gentle sigh. Clearly not ready to let go and head back just yet. He pressed a few kisses into your neck and hugged you tightly. He finally had you. Giggling you proceeded to sit up all the way and grabbed his face to attack him with kisses. Once you landed on his lips you noticed how you could taste yourself against him.
“GUYS! WHERE ARE YOU?!” That was definitely Marcille.
FUCK!
You both quickly scrambled to your feet and frantically searched for your discarded clothing, almost painfully pulling it on your bodies. Neither one of you had time to wipe down which caused you both to cringe a little. But that was better than being caught in such an intimate position by someone you both respected and cared about. Plus the embarrassment you would feel later would surely keep you up for nights on end.
You quickly turned to Laios and without thinking ran your hands through his hair in an attempt to make it look presentable. If you weren't so focused you wouldn't have missed the pure look of awe and admiration he held for you at that moment.
“There you are! We were beginning to get worried.” turning the corner, Marcille stood with a hand against her chest, letting out a deep sigh.
“Huh what happened to you guys! You look like you just ran a marathon or something! Did you encounter any monsters?!”
At the mention of monsters Laios quickly spoke up and formulated a very abstract lie about you and him getting chased by some creature. You honestly couldn't focus much on what he was saying, just being grateful that your man had all the knowledge in the world about monsters to create a believable story. Grabbing his hand you squeezed it. A wordless gesture that meant the world to the both of you.
Now you wondered, when you were going to be able to return the favor to him.
Hello there, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your posts! This is actually my first time making a request, and I'm not sure if you're currently taking them, but I thought I’d ask anyway.
Would you be able to create a scenario or imagine something sweet involving sleeping with Kokushibo? Nothing explicit, just something heartwarming would be great! No pressure if you’re not up for it, and take your time. Wishing you a wonderful day or night!
ᥫ᭡ Sleeping w/Kokushibō
Pairings⌇Kokushibō × Reader insert [Kokushibō and Y/N are in a pre-established relationship, ie married]
A/N⌇oh no worries at all, my asks are pretty much always open, lol! And sure, I hope this suffices!
𖤐ˎˊ˗Masterlist
▪︎Kokushibō exhibits a reserved demeanour when sharing a bed, yet at the same time he possesses an unexpectedly gentle side towards you.
▪︎Although your husband is not the one who needs any sleep at night, being a demon, at times he does like to accompany you in bed. Among his long years in life, he finds your presence to be deeply comforting, and he wishes to provide you that same sense of comfort.
Kokushibō, laying on his back would have his arm gently encircling you, all six of his eyes are shut as if he’s meditating to find peace, ensuring you feel secure and are enveloped safely in his warmth.
Kokushibō, being the most powerful breathing user/swordsman just below Yoriichi, would have incredible control of every aspect of his body—
▪︎When you began to feel chilly; Kokushibō could easily elevate his body temperature to provide warmth and when necessary, he would lower it to prevent you from becoming overheated.
▪︎If the moment became overly affectionate, your husband would hold you close, his arms wrapped around you, gently toying with your hair using one hand.
Kokushibō would find being enveloped by your significantly daintier arms and your softness particularly pleasant; in comparison to his constant exposure to the harshness of these lands, marked by death and bloodshed.
▪︎However, Kokushibō's aura is anything but soothing, unlike his brother—he radiates an intense power that specifically hinders the body to relax, which would make it challenging for you to unwind and drift off to sleep in his presence.
▪︎Kokushibō would, nevertheless, make an effort to provide comfort in his own understated manner, encouraging you to take deep breaths and to focus on his voice instead. He would share many tales and stories with you, drawing from his vast age and experience.
▪︎Although, if his presence proves too disruptive for your sleep, he would willingly step away to give you space.
▪︎Kokushibō, given that he can literally release huge energy in the form of blades from his body—he would be killing off some roaches lying around in your house. Saving you from the pest control expanses—pew pew!
[Given his overwhelming aura, I'm sure many roaches and rats would even end up running away from your home, lol]
▪︎Kokushibō would be your ultimate pest control hero!
▪︎In case you got a nightmare, Kokushibō would immediately sense it, especially given that he'd be awake the whole night.
▪︎To soothe you, he would softly stroke your back, providing comfort to alleviate the distress from your troubling dreams. If things got too serious, though, he would promptly nudge you awake from sleep.
▪︎In a calm tone, Kokushibō would assure you that there was nothing to be afraid of. He would invite you to meditate alongside him, focusing on deep breaths to clear your mind of all worries. Deep down, however, he was concerned whether his presence might be the source of your nightmares.
▪︎Nevertheless, Kokushibō would keep an eye on your brain activity; as soon as you fell asleep, he would quietly exit to ensure you could rest peacefully; not wanting his presence to distress you further.
Traffic/Life series roster as dinosaurs
A lot of these don't make for very good hybrids unless you wanna get into freaky territory or full on centaur but... Hope it's a fun scroll nonetheless!
Grian - Novialoidea
A small birdie... The name also means "New wings" which I find fun. New lives and death games to be part of, new wings to accompany him... (Honorable mention to "Shuvuuia" the "desert bird" who unfortunately is not a pterosaur (doesn't fly)) (Yes we're including pterosaurs! Just using "dinosaur" as a conveient blanket term)
Tango - Aratasaurus / Pyroraptor
Fire raptor! Either works just fine and Tango as a skittery little raptor is perfect for a creature like him
Scar - Apatosaurus
"Deceptive Lizard" harkening back to Scar's scamming tendencies. Though I've always liked the idea of him being some larger gentler animal in any hybrid scenario and a long-neck fits the bill well. He can poke his nose into people's conversations easily to start marketing something useless to them and swishes his tail to ward off anyone who's about to stop him
Impulse - Nasutoceratops
Ren - Regaliceratops
Horns. COOL horns. I don't know what else you want from me ceratopses are just way too awesome. Nasutoceratops is a wicked cool dinosaur for having its horns point so forward much like a bull and I for one can jive with some Impulse bull symbolism. Bulls are often viewed as strong, sturdy and loyal, traits also assigned to Impulse a LOT of the time. But though he IS intensely loyal in many cases (+ Ceratopses are also known for how they defend their own!), and he's not very outward about the following traits, he can get quite petty and bitchy and hold grudges. Still, you don't think of that when you look at him and he seems to agree! Eg him feeling like he should be accepted into Cleo's alliance in 3rd life without actually proving himself when Cleo was rightfully hesitant, at which Impulse more or less rolled his eyes. And him proclaiming "betrayal!" when killed by Bdubs when their alliance was as firm as a rat's tail
(And I feel the need to point this out too just in case: "bulls are also known for their temper" yeah but they're not like that! Bulls like many animals become defensive when exposed to aggravating behavior or movement! Which you could work into Impulse's grudge holding and intense loyalty...? I don't know enough about him sorry but do with that what you will)
Regaliceratops! Regal!! Crown shaped frill!!! Need I say more?
Gem - Therizinosaurus
Theris are so bad bitch coated to me and I would love to have one as my wife I mean um I couldn't decide on a less generic specimen so Gem can just be a Theri! A herbivore - often associated with the belief that herbivores are gentle passive creatures, but far from it, especially with Gem! She bares her claws like it's no one's business
Martyn - Stygmoloch
A Pachy with a tough head and a tendency to bonk people - I think it fits Martyn's tendency to perpetuate drama haha. The Stygmoloch's name though more or less translates to "demon of the styx river", the river of the underworld representing loathing of death. To me this makes sense with all the watcher lore (that I have a hard time understanding but whatever!!) especially with how Martyn became in LL. The watchers themselves don't loathe death (??) of course. They're death games. But someone within the game trying to stay alive and win? Probably loathes the idea of themselves dying. I have no clue what Im saying
Pearl - Carnotaurus
Ok maybe a hot take not to make her into a pteradon or even a raptor with wing-like features but those just didn't fit that well in my opinion. Rather I wanted her to have some kind of horn motif in place of her wings as visual symbolism for her character. I'd like to imagine her having fine horns, to then have them damaged (one broken off) and simultaneously the other more grown out. Think of how domesticated goats for example have their horns trimmed. I think human hybrids with horns would do the same to keep them from becoming a bother but Pearl would neglect to after her heartbreak in DL. I was heavily considering the Diabloceratops for this, especially because of the name (Devil horned face - good ostracizing material) but Pearl strikes me a lot more as a carnivore and there are only two horned carnivores out there so... Carnotaurus it is haha. And even now I'm making her horns unrealistically big but.... We can suspend some belief
BigB - Oryctodromeus
"Digging Runner"! I've already talked plenty of why BigB is very rabbit behavior to me and my reasons for assigning this burrowing dinosaur to him are similar. Tldr he is fidgety and cautious yet clever and constantly buries himself underground
Lizzie - Anurognathidae
I don't even fucking know man it made me think of Lizzie and then I wasn't able to assign anything else to her. Lizzie often claims to be confused and if any dinosaur looks to be in a perpetual state of confusion then its this one. I know a lot of people like to portray Lizzie as a butterfly also so there you go, wings!!! And it's quite cat-like too for those who like to draw her as a cat
Mumbo - Leinkupal
I really struggled with Mumbo... So many different dinos fit him imo but I figured it should be at least something moderately large (so "Technosaurus" was out of the question lol). Then I rediscovered this dinosaur whose name translates to "vanishing family" and then I thought about LL and SL and how Mumbo went out quickly after the initial death/s and left a very felt absence in someone's alliance and then I became really emotional and forgot what I was doing
Joel - Nodocephalosaurus
Bdubs - Psittacosaurus
"Knob Headed Lizard"
Joel as an Ankylosaur has been stuck in my head from day one of assigning dinosaurs to the Lifers and I'm frustrated that I can't truly explain why. You'd view an Ankylosaur as a slow and docile creature, even compared to other herbivores, but...
1. Maybe not so much nowadays, I don't know what non-dino nerds think, but I feel like ankylosaurs were largely believed to be HUGE back in the day, much like velociraptors, when in reality they're not that big. The Nodocephalosaurus is especially small even among other ankylosaurs. But, well, we all know what Joel loves to say about himself
2. Joel is or likes to make himself look well in control, just as ankylosaurs have little to worry about as far as predators go. Especially in earlier series where he was content basing mostly by himself. It's always when things get dire and he enters his red life that he becomes very impulsive and erratic like an ankylosaur flipped on its back
3. I know there's a distinction between Traffic Joel and Empires Joel and whatever other Joel but... Even in death games his more charitable traits shine through here and there. He really becomes a dangerous rascal for a large majority of the time and he's very good at it, he's not putting on a mask or anything, but I like to remember that underneath that tough spiky armor is gentleness and caring. His care towards Lizzie and Pearl and Etho etc etc
4. The image of Joel as a hell of a spiky creature is just really fun to me. Yet heavy and blunt ones! And someone once proposed the idea of him having a club tail but having chiselled it to be sharp to mirror him being a menace. (Added benefit also that it's lighter that way haha) To me he's always been an obvious heavy hitter rather than stealthy or particularly creative etc. Him as a carnivore just doesn't work as well for me
The name bares no fitting meaning but when I look at Bdubs I think of Psittaco. All other species close to it in looks are already ceratopsians and we have like... 3 of those already lol. Im sorry Bdubs you look so stupid
Cleo - Lythronax
There's so few predators in this roster lol oops, but Cleo deserves to be an apex one! The name translates to "Gore King" because you know, zombies... and you know, Cleo is very king so true. If any of the Lifers should be able to boast rows of razor sharp teeth to gore others it should be ZombieCleo
Scott - Theiophytalia
I've been really struggling with Scott but how about the dinosaur whose name translates to "Belonging to the garden of Gods". There's only one known specimen of this species and it's an Iguanadon looking dinosaur which I think a lot of people would regard as the most basic, possibly boring type of dinosaur (if it weren't for the Allosaurus which already takes the title of "basic straight white guy") but that further fits Scott imo. It's always been a strong point of appeal to me how MUCH there is to his character that so often goes under the radar or unexplored, and how he's very often portrayed as just some handsome looking guy as opposed to a hybrid etc. He's not at all extravagant yet has mastered his craft of bending fate in his favor, he so often has things perfectly under his control just as he wants them, etc... reflective of the name "Theiophytalia" even if you wouldn't think such a dinosaur to sport one of the most prolific names a dinosaur can have. Also garden something something flower husbans. Basically whatever Bree's take on Scott is lol. I don't wanna blab for 5 paragraphs about that blue mf here but. I hope this makes sense
Jimmy - Yinlong
I struggled with this mf the most because he's another very hashtag deep character. I felt really bad to remove his bird motifs completely because the canary is so essential to him, but a raptor nor a pteradon fit my image of him at all. I spent so much time looking into various species but it just aint it, but Yinlong was possibly quilled and we can still cover him in feathers, even if he has nothing close to wings haha... BUT ANYWAY. Yinlong is a small kind of pathetic looking dinosaur, and Jimmy definitely isn't small but he'd sure be made to feel that way. Yinlong translates to "Hidden Dragon" however, a rather thought-provoking name for such a dinosaur. Given his character, it sure does feel like there's a soul of a dragon laying dormant somewhere in him, buried by all the self deprecation and curse labels. Honorable mention to Tianyulong, a very similar dinosaur who was named after a museum, but "Tianyu" also translates to peace and content. Something that Jimmy can't yet but deserves to be
Etho - undefined raptor
Already made a loong post about raptor Etho haha which I assume yall have seen since the support towards that post is the only reason I'm even making this post
Skizz - Olorotitan
"Titanic Swan" close enough to an angel right. I feel the whole angel thing is a bit overdone when Skizz can become a malicious little creature every now and then, but swans much like angels do get viewed as beautiful and taken as symbolism of love. Much like Skizz is largely viewed as an angel and often as someone who can do no wrong. But mostly I wanted Skizz to be a hadrosaur/duck-billed dinosaur, because those are dinosaurs known for their speculated vocalizations. And what is Skizz good at? Talking and voicing his love and appreciation? Yeah? Yeah... I'm so sorry Skizz btw this hybrid idea does not work out
Again, a lot of these don't work so well as hybrids... Some like the long-neck ones I cant imagine to have more than a spiky spine back and a tail, but! These picks aren't based on hybrid potential but rather what I think genuinely fits. I did really work on this all day looking through a bunch of dinosaurs and research haha, but I do love dinosaurs a lot... If you disagree with any hey thats cool! Feel free to give me your opinions if you've any and I hope this was fun to scroll through regardless
#oh boy here we go with the tags#grian#tangotek#impulsesv#rendog#I feel bad tagging these Im not gonna tag them all alright forgive me#zombiecleo#joel smallishbeans#geminitay#ldshadowlady#ok thats more than enough forgive me traffic gods#trafficblr#but also blabber?#rendog is my fave... and Joel but I have ankylosaur bias#ankylosaurus best animal sorry to every other animal#oh and Gem of course haha....... :feat~ albedo, kaeya, zhongli, childe, ayato, thoma, alhaitham, kaveh x gn!reader:
 sometimes, warm moments like these is what truly makes their love apparent.
"May I... sketch you?"
ALBEDO's request is quiet - well-mannered as he's caught gazing at you with those deep turquoise eyes of his, holding a pencil aloft in one gloved hand.
"Go ahead." You let a smile cross your expression briefly, glancing up at him and letting your eyes meet. His stare is warm, contrasting to his usual blank expression that he wears so frequently. Your cheeks warm as his lips curve upwards into a gentle smile, and the quietest laugh escapes from his lips.
"Hm, if you keep looking at me with those eyes, I'm not sure if I'll be able to focus at all." His voice is playful, almost, before he flips to a new page in his sketchbook, which is set against his usual easel, and begins to draw.
And although only silence surrounds the two of you, occasionally accompanied by the gentle scratching of Albedo's sketching pencil moving across the paper, everything feels perfectly familiar.
Sunlight filters through the large windows, bathing the entire room in a cordial glow. From where you silently sit, you can feel your heart quicken at the sight of Albedo quietly standing, occasionally glancing at you with a diligent gaze.
It's clear that no words need to be shared between the two of you. The soft smile set on the male's face unmistakably says enough.
It's an expression that reads, "I love you." ♥
"Here, shall I order you another drink?"
KAEYA's voice seems to waltz in the thick air. Amongst the mixed chatter and low tones of the bar, his smooth one is something that stands out. His eye twinkles as he glances at you, slowly swirling the contents of his own glass with a distant amusement. "The night's just begun, after all."
"Ah, no thanks... I have work tomorrow." You sheepishly decline his offer, not wanting to wake up to a vicious hangover the next morning... which had happened the last time the two of you went out for drinks. It seemed that that was Kaeya's idea of "entertainment".
"Mm, very well. It's a pity, but I suppose I can't ignore your reasoning." With a short sigh and a loose shrug of his shoulders, he lets out a small laugh. "Ah, but since you won't be drinking any more, perhaps I'll make up for it?"
You don't understand his words... not until he takes the wine bottle off the table and downs it all with startling quickness.
"Kaeya!?"
"Ahaha... oh, maybe that wasn't such a great idea..." His body tips, his head lolling onto your shoulder with a drunken stupor. Kaeya holds his drink well, so it's certainly not everyday where you'll see the cavalry captain in such an intoxicated state. You can sense that something has changed in his gaze, from the way his interested gaze flicks up to your face from where he leans against your shoulder.
"Hm..." He mumbles it to himself, mostly, and it's something you're sure you weren't meant to hear, but you do.
"Haha... How could I be so lucky as to have you as my lover...?" ♥
"Love, are you tired? Come here."
ZHONGLI's expression is gentle, amber eyes warm as he lightly gestures to the space beside him. The evening air is cool, so his touch is inviting more than anything.
His gaze seems to melt as you sit beside him, body leaning against his. He's quick to move his arms, wrapping one around you, pulling you into the frame while the other stays by his side.
If you had glanced up at him then, you would've seen the gentle smile that spread across his features. Yet you didn't, and instead leaned into his warmth with a smile of your own.
Perhaps you're imagining it, but in the quiet of the night, you can almost hear Zhongli's heart beating alongside yours. Steadfast, strong. An unbreakable will.
And while you held such admiration for the male, he, in return, held such affection for you. You, the beacon of his attention and you, who had captured his heart obliviously.
Every second he spends with you is bliss - moments he will never take for granted.
Above you, Zhongli lets out a satisfied breath, running his fingers through your hair with an unimaginable delicateness. He stays there for a moment, musing to himself with twinkling golden eyes as he plays with your locks absentmindedly... although anyone who knows Zhongli is well aware that he is not one to be absent minded in any matter.
Ah, is he saying something? His words are quiet, so much so you can't hear them, but his lips move accordingly with every word.
"The day will come where we are not together, but until then, please, let me hold you for as long as it may last." ♥
"You can open your eyes now!"
CHILDE's game had been rather suspicious from the start - yet, the first thing you notice when you open your eyes is the glimmering excitement that seems to dance across his features. And while his amusement always had been somewhat plastic, some part of you knew that this enthusiasm was genuine. He takes your hands, his touch warm, and spins you around in a half-hug that seems to make you fly.
"Hey, do you like it?" His voice is higher-pitched - airy and hopeful.
Huh? Oh... he means-
You had meant to look at his surprise, but found yourself gazing distractedly at him instead. In his arms, he holds a bouquet of your favorite flowers, each and every bud fully in bloom, every petal pristine. How he got them to be so perfect, you might never know, but you can already feel a smile forming on your face.
A laugh escapes your lips as you throw your arms around the male, pulling yourself into his embrace. There's a moment of shock before he returns it, and you can see the way his own lips curve upwards.
His eyes are the same deep azure, void of light... and it'd likely be too much to hope that any sort of brightness would return to such, yet sometimes, in the late hours where you would be cuddled up beside him, there was no mistaking how his expression seemed to lighten at the sight of you.
"I love it." The words come out almost like a whisper, but the male hears it.
"And I love you." ♥
"Oh, were you waiting for me?"
AYATO's violet eyes seem to sparkle as he rounds the corner and spots you leaning against the wall, heedlessly standing there with a tentative air. "If you wanted to see me, you could've told one of my retainers... or, perhaps the thought hadn't crossed your mind in such haste?" There's a smirk on his face as he chuckles lightly.
"I just thought waiting for you would be faster." You pout, cheeks slightly flushed at his jesting.
Ah, there it was. The expression that had made him fall for you. The male can only laugh further. "Very well, then I suppose I'll have to indulge you then, correct?" He begins to walk down the hallway and gestures for you to follow suit. At the end of the corridor stands two armored guards, attentively glancing across the courtyard with weapon in hand. As the two of you cross them, they respectfully bow their heads.
"Commissioner Kamisato and esteemed guest, we greet you."
"Thank you." Ayato smiles, but it's one without warmth. "You are dismissed."
"...Pardon?" The first one seems dumbfounded, but the second seems to get the hint and tugs on the other's shoulder, leading them out of the area.
"Hm... now there are no prying eyes, let's talk, shall we?" He sits and you mimic his actions, watching with a flitting gaze as the Ayato himself stares at you, seemingly transfixed. "How have you been, love?" There's already two cups of hot tea set at the table, but somehow, he pulls a cup of boba from his sleeve instead.
And while you're telling him all about the day's occurrences, waving your hands about as you elaborate, you pause as you hear a quiet laugh emit from the male.
"Oh sorry, go on."
"You just look so beautiful right now... that I couldn't help but laugh at my good fortune." ♥
"Here, I made you this!"
THOMA beams warmly as he sets something on your head, a something that smells rather fragrant, like fresh vanilla. The blonde's smile is contagious, lethally so... from the way his spring eyes are glimmering excitedly, to the manner on how his expression brightened as soon as he had spotted you - everything about it, about him seemed to make your heart feel warm.
You glance up. Wind... Windwheel Asters? Weren't those the flowers from Mondstadt? Low and behold, there they were, stems intricately intertwined together, occasional leaves flourishing outwards as the heads delicately spin in the gentle breeze.
"A... A merchant came by and was selling some flowers from my hometown, so I thought..." Thoma's voice trails off as his face slowly grows redder. In a way, he's slightly ashamed. Perhaps he shouldn't have indulged in such a childish hobby, gifting you a flower crown? With the way your eyes have widened... do you dislike it-?
All those thoughts cease instantaneously as he feels something warm - your lips, pressed against his cheek as you give him a quick kiss. When you pull away, your happy expression is something that makes his eyes widen in surprise as he feels his heart soar.
"Ah, but now I feel bad..." You put a finger to your chin, pondering a thought. "You've given me such a priceless gift, yet I don't have a thing in return..." Instantly, Thoma is all over your slumped figure.
"Nono, please don't say that! You being here is the best gift I could wish for." ♥
"Are you done with this page yet?"
ALHAITHAM glances down at you. Your back is pressed against his chest, sitting in between his splayed legs comfortably as the male holds out his book for the both of you to read. As he breathes steadily, his chest rises and falls in a constant rhythm.
When you nod your head in approval, he flips the page, revealing the next. He's a fast reader, that much is apparent. You can't keep up with him, but he waits for you at the end of each and every one... and if he gets bored, he'll rest his chin on your head - or maybe even play with your hair, the slightest bit.
Sometimes, a distant part of you thought he reminded you of a cat.
But that was besides the point. The book isn't anything special - just more ancient Sumeru history, but the way Al Haitham is staring at every page so diligently would make one think that he's reading something incredibly riveting. You've seen that look before, now that you think about it. It's the certain type of gaze that you've caught Al Haitham using out of the corner of your eye. The type of stare that just spells out his infatuation.
You haven't even noticed that your eyelids have begun to flutter shut until the male's deep voice emits once more: "Are you tired?"
There's a faint smile on his face, an expression that one could easily miss. In your drowsiness, however, you still manage to catch it. "Mhm."
Silently he sets down his book, before placing a hand behind your head and pushing you closer. He closes his eyes, his breathing composed.
"If you're drowsy, get some rest... But stay here, would you?" ♥
"Darling, what... what are you doing here?"
KAVEH stands in the doorway, ruby eyes wide. His stance is stiff as he somewhat comes to his senses, whipping his head about in an almost comical manner. "Why are you here? Is he home??"
He sounds so anxious it's hard not to laugh. "I just wanted to see you, so..." Your words come out as more sheepish as intended, and you can see his harried expression lighten.
"You didn't talk to Al Haitham, did you?" There's a new edge in his voice, although his jitteriness has significantly eased since the start of the conversation. "And he didn't say anything weird to you, did he??"
Oh. The realization finally hits you. He's jealous, isn't he?
"No, not at all. I haven't even seen him, actually." A giggle manages to escape your lips, and Kaveh visibly brightens at your mood.
"Good. Then, should we get out of here before he decides to show up?" Kaveh opts to place his work things aside, leaving Murak on the table to fend for himself as he quickly piles his blueprints onto the coffee table, emptying the bundles in his arms. He takes your hand as soon as possible, his grip tight but comfortable.
As he tugs you along and out the door into the warm evening air, glancing back at you, his crimson eyes seem to shimmer.
"You're mine, and I won't ever let you forget that." ♥
Whispers in the Night (pt. 1)
OPLA! Sanji x Reader
A/N: I’ve decided to try writing in third person. It was a little difficult since im accustomed to writing in second, but I wanted to try something new. Hope you guys enjoy :)
The Going Merry sailed steadily under the vast canopy of stars, its wooden frame creaking softly as it glided through the calm waters of the Grand Line. The night was serene, the sky adorned with a tapestry of twinkling stars. On the ship, the Straw Hat Pirates rested, each finding their own corner of the ship to slumber. Amid the quietude of the night, you had somehow found yourself nestled in Sanji’s bunk. Such sleeping arrangements were not unusual among the Straw Hat crew; the bonds of camaraderie ran deep, and sharing bunks had become a natural occurrence.
As the night deepened, Sanji quietly entered his cabin. He had been engrossed in a late-night cooking session, his culinary skills dedicated to providing his crewmates with the best possible meal for the next day’s adventures. He didn’t want to disturb your slumber but felt an inexplicable urge to check on you. The soft, diffused light from the porthole bathed the room in a gentle, amber hue. Sanji’s sharp eyes fell upon your form, resting peacefully in his bunk, illuminated by the faint moonlight. In your sleep, you clutched a plushie close to your chest, your lips curled into a serene smile.
With the grace that was second nature to him, Sanji silently approached your sleeping figure. A sense of tenderness washed over him as he observed your relaxed expression; you looked like an angel in repose. And then, as if carried by the whispering night breeze, he heard it—a soft, barely audible whisper that made his heart skip a beat.
“Sanji…”
He blinked, questioning whether he had imagined it. But there it was again, your sweet voice, calling his name. It was soft and tender, like the murmur of leaves in a gentle breeze. Sanji’s heart quickened as he leaned in closer, his curiosity piqued. He realized that you were not awake; you were deep in the throes of a dream. Somehow, he had become a part of your dreamscape.
A faint blush warmed his cheeks. Hearing you say his name, not in distress or worry but with a happy lilt, filled him with a sense of wonder and delight. It was as though, in the sanctuary of your dreams, you were expressing a sentiment that your waking self might never utter. Sanji listened attentively, his azure eyes focused solely on you. He couldn’t help but smile, a mixture of joy and tenderness swelling in his chest. Your sleeping form and the way you softly murmured his name were enchanting, like a melody that had been composed just for him.
Respecting your slumber, Sanji decided not to wake you. He settled into a nearby chair, his gaze fixed on you with an affectionate and protective air. The moonlight played upon your features, casting gentle shadows, and painting you in an ethereal light. As the night wore on and the Going Merry continued its tranquil journey, your dreams seemed to grow brighter. The happiness that radiated from you, accompanied by those whispered words, filled Sanji’s heart with warmth and contentment.
He knew that when morning came, you might not remember these moments, but he would cherish them. Sanji remained in his quiet vigil, watching over you as the night unfolded—a silent promise that he would always be there, both in your dreams and in the waking world, to protect and care for you. And so, the night on the Going Merry continued, two souls intertwined in the realm of dreams, a secret confession of affection exchanged through whispered words—a promise that would endure long after the stars had faded into morning’s dawn.
Eat up, yall starving lunatics. More Papatarion for the books since yall feel kinda tender for this man <33
Summary: Mortarion's approach to fatherhood 2.0
Pairing: Mortarion x Reader (Female)
CW: Mentions of pregnancy
Little and Precious (Part 2)
Mortarion wasn’t a fan of going through every little report that needed to be addressed by him after any sort of deployment from the Legion. It seemed too meaningless in comparison to other tasks that needed most of his attention.
So far, it was a drag having to oversee the next resupply of the dreadnoughts even when his gene-sons could go for long periods of time without needed them, but neglecting his duties could lead to terrible consequences he rather not have to contemplate when the ones in the line were you and his daughter.
The fact that you had understood and even tried to help on the workload made Mortarion wheeze in amazement because how had he managed to find someone like you in this wretched universe?
You’ll be the end of him.
While overseeing one of the many dataslates on his desk, the Primarch heard the door opening and closing just as fast. A light shuffling approached behind him, but Mortarion pretended to not see or hear anything and kept himself occupied while a twitch graced his scarred lips in an attempt to hide a playful smile.
There was a breathy giggle and immediately the partial silence of the room came back as if nothing happened.
When Mortarion looked at the pile of dataslates on his right, he noticed a freshly cut yellow flower above them. It was very innocuous in nature and contrasting in a manner that made the Pale King blink a few times in bewilderment.
He still found surprising how silent and fast his girl could be when she wished to.
The Primarch then heard the shuffling again to his left and right there on his desk rested a pile of hard candies of different flavors.
“Hmm… It seems a spy has entered my private chambers” he said with a serious tone despite the gentle smile on his face. “Where would they have gone?”
Mortarion made a show to ignore the giggling behind his chair and simply checked under the desk to left and right, his smile only widening at the sound of snickering when he sillily checked under the dataslates to keep the play.
The mighty Primarch can only imagine how much his Legion would be both confused and perplexed at his behavior, but the demigod had spent enough time with you and his daughter to start understanding the soft edges he could possess too with his family.
The sweet silliness that accompanied the toddler’s laughter made any sense of shame or aggravation be forgotten at the sight of happiness from the girl. What would have been a slight towards his person, now it made something tender spread over his ribcage.
Of course he always made sure not to make a fool of himself in public, but no one was blind to the gentleness Mortarion displayed towards the little lady of the Death Guard Legion.
It was a good thing his daughter had the same approachable and warm disposition that her mother possessed, as she had managed to have pretty much any astartes graped around her little fingers without realizing.
The Pale King hummed, tapping patiently on his desk until his precious girl let her guard down and swiftly scooped the toddler with his two hands under her armpits, all while she shrieked in laughter.
His little girl always loved to be raised in her father’s arms.
Mortarion went ahead and sat himself along the child on his lap, grabbing the yellow flower over the dataslate and settling it behind his daughter’s ear to decorate her hair.
“I thought you were with your mother, my little bud” he extended one of the hard candies to the toddler, who sheepishly accepted the offer while swinging her little legs.
“Mama got tired and went to sleep” she explained idly in that sweet tone of hers, but Mortarion noticed some dejection too. “I just feel a bit sad that mama can’t play with me like before because of my little sister being in her belly…”
Ah, so that’s why his precious lady had wandered here.
The second pregnancy had been a huge and scary surprise just like the first time, as you two and some apothecaries had believed that the first one had been nothing short of a miracle.
Mortarion wouldn't say that he felt disappointed at the result, but he could see now what other effects were starting to have an impact on his little girl in a terrible manner. Your due date was just a month away and rest had become nothing short of obligatory at this point, so he understood where the frustrations of his daughter seemed to arise from.
This was the kind of stuff you would usually be dealing with, as the Primarch still had a hard time understanding a proper approach to the simple concerns a small 4 year old would have.
He was the imposing and protective father while you managed the complexities of baseline human feelings his little flower may experience.
This was a territory he never expected to cross.
“Well… my little bud… I know right now it’s hard since it's only been you around us… but once your little sister is born, you know who else she will need to guide her and protect her?”
She looked expectant at the answer. Big childish eyes drinking every word from him.
“It will be you. When your Mother or I can’t be around, your little sister will be counting on you to take care of her… at least, until he grows and can protect herself”
The once dejected look on her face regained a new light of understanding. Little fist balling the beautiful fabric of her purple dress while looking now at him with one can only describe as unshakable determination that made something inside Mortarion choke a bit.
“Then I’ll be the best big sister ever! I’ll help mama and-and I’ll help you too papa, then…!”
His precious daughter seemed to have gotten quite the fire on her rambling now. Going on and on about the things she wished to do once the baby was born and even making plans at which of her favorites astartes will be allowed to help protect her future younger sibling.
Never in his wildest dreams, Mortarion believed he’ll be granted such wonderful moments.
This is me while I wrote this shit at midnight
Pearl - Part two
series masterlist ⋆ part one ⋆ part three
Pair: Eris x Reader
Word count: 2.599
Warnings: mentions of cheating, fertility issues, insecure thoughts
As months slipped by without conception, your mind wandered to the idea of a baby. You found yourself daydreaming about your future baby, wondering if they would inherit your traits or resemble Eris.
Maybe your future child would be a perfect blend of both of you, or a mirror image of Eris with his luscious locks, mischievous amber eyes accented by long, dark lashes, and his straight nose.
You hoped your child would resemble your wonderful husband, with his charming laugh, his thoughtful frown, and all the beauty he possessed.
As you stood before the mirror, you gazed at your belly, imagining it swollen with pregnancy.
Your mind wandered to your child laughing, giggling, and cooing with joy, happiness radiating from their bright eyes.
You felt stressed as numerous people, especially Beron, exerted pressure on you. However, Eris remained your source of comfort, always sweet and wiping your tears, soothing you whenever the healer delivered the disappointing news of another unsuccessful conception.
Eris concealed his relief upon learning of the unsuccessful attempt, careful not to show you his true emotions. Despite this, his desire to fulfill your every wish remained strong, understanding that the timing had to be right for both you and your future heir's safety.
He saw you trying everything—from taking long walks with his mother to eating healthier, experimenting with various fertility teas, and praying.
Despite trying everything, nothing seemed to help. He witnessed your tears and mourning, understanding your sense of shame for not fulfilling what you saw as your only duty.
Eris, feeling responsible for your anguish, was ashamed, as he was at fault making you feel this way.
To help you relax and ease the strain on your body, Beron ordered that you be sent to your parents' house. The Lady of Autumn spoke with Beron, suggesting that a vacation could alleviate your stress and potentially increase your chances of conceiving.
• •
Being at your parents' house proved to be truly relaxing. The familiar surroundings provided comfort, surrounded by your loved ones. You spent time chatting with your sisters and reconnecting with friends you hadn't seen in a while.
Enjoying tea and playing cards together, the conversations and laughter helped you forget all of your worries.
In your childhood home, you were surrounded by laughter and joy, you felt whole and content.
It was a stark contrast to the tension and loneliness you experienced in the forest house, where rivalry, scheming, and jealousy were ever-present.
There, in the forest house, you always felt on edge, but here, in the comforting embrace of your childhood home, the atmosphere was vibrant and carefree.
The air was filled with the joyful laughter of children, and the warmth of your friends' companion enveloped you, easing away any lingering worries you had.
You couldn't help but wish for your child to grow up in such an environment. Perhaps not falling pregnant right now wasn't the worst outcome after all, you sadly mused.
Today, the weather was warm, carrying the scent of the black tea your mother brewed and the cherry cake your sister baked earlier.
Laughter echoed through the garden where you sat, accompanied by the sweet singing of the birds.
The sun shone just right, casting a gentle glow, and overall, the atmosphere was calm and serene.
The atmosphere was abruptly disturbed by your friend's gasp as she remembered something important.
"Oh my, I almost forgot to tell you what happened to Cassandra, you all remember her, right?" she exclaimed, her shock evident as she jumped in her seat.
"Her husband had been cheating on her, and despite her attempts to have a second child with him, he remained loyal to his mistress.
To prevent any illegitimate children with her, he resorted to using a tonic, it hindered any chance of pregnancy. Apparently it is also illegal to use.
Cassandra's father found out, killed the mistress and punished her husband by law."
"I don't know what happened exactly, but Charles now has a scar across his face," another friend chimed in.
"And lately, he's been sticking close to Cassandra when they are at gatherings. Apparently the punishment he faced was only halted because she intervened and saved him from her father. Since then, he's been keeping in line."
"That was well deserved," your mother chimed in, sipping on her tea with a hint of satisfaction in her voice.
As you listened, doubts began to creep into your mind.
Maybe someone had tampered with your tea. However, your handmaids assured you that they hadn't seen anyone interfere with your food or beverages.
Every step of the preparation process, from the ingredients to the serving, had been strictly monitored.
Despite the numerous intimate sessions with Eris each day, it seemed impossible that there could be an issue with fertility.
However, hearing the conversation about Cassandra's situation sparked a troubling thought: what if the problem lay with Eris? Could he be infertile?
The notion of him using a tonic seemed absurd, and the thought of him resorting to such measures was too cruel to contemplate.
He had wiped away your tears and shielded you from harm, from the rumours, the nasty glances directed at you.
You couldn’t entertain such a devastating possibility—betrayal from him would be unimaginable.
He talked to you about the names he had chosen and the colors he envisioned for the baby's room. Every time you talked about your future child he was happy, excited to help choosing the clothes and how he would play with him or her. He didn’t care if it was a girl or a boy.
You both had laid in bed one night, when he confessed his hope that the child would resemble you. He had held you close, your fingers were intertwined, his head on your chest, he wished that your child would inherit your eyes and your smile.
He wouldn’t cheat on you, no he wouldn’t. Not Eris, never him, right?
You obviously would never openly accuse Eris of such a horrendous act or him using the tonic.
Accusing the heir could result in dire consequences, you would be risking your life and insulting the Vanserra family to which you still didn't fully belong to.
You understood that full acceptance into the family would only come with the birth of his heir.
For now, you felt more like a placeholder, knowing that if nothing worked, you could easily be replaced by a new wife.
• •
The evening neared its end and your friends departed, your family prepared for bed.
Quietly, you made your way to your father's office, seeking help to calm your nerves before you also joined dreamland.
In the cold hallway leading to his office, you closed the window, the chill dissipating.
Taking a moment to glance at your reflection, you noticed your hair cascading loosely around your shoulders, and your nightgown, a deep red with golden accents, gave you a regal air.
Compared to a week ago, you looked healthier, your cheeks now filled out.
Gazing past your reflection, you turned your attention to the sky, silently praying and hoping that your father held the answers you needed.
Approaching the grand oak door adorned with golden leaves, you knocked twice.
"Come in," your father's voice called from within.
Upon entering, you found him engrossed in his papers, his glasses resting on the bridge of his nose. The office carried the aroma of black coffee and biscuits.
Closing the door behind you, you stood before him, clearing your throat to gain his attention.
"Father, have you heard about what happened to Cassandra?" you inquired.
He rubbed his face in frustration before replying angrily, " Good evening to you too. Yes, but I prefer not to indulge in gossip or spread it myself. Why do you ask?"
"It's not about the gossip itself, but about the tonic," you clarified.
His eyes widened in surprise as you quickly added, "Don't worry, I'm not asking to brew it myself. I'm just curious why it's outlawed and what it consists of."
Reassured, he sighed and admitted, "There is a book in the library somewhere. I forgot the title of it." With a smile, you bid him goodnight and wished him a restful sleep. "Goodnight. Sleep well," he replied before you left.
As you walked towards the library, a peculiar sensation stirred in your belly, akin to butterflies fluttering about. Nervousness and a certain cold crept over you, you had a sudden urge to relieve yourself.
As you walked into the library, you skimmed through the books, spending about two hours in the healing section.
Along the search for the specific book, you stumbled upon some intriguing ones that you planned to read later.
Eventually, you found a small black book titled "Outlawed." Within its pages, you discovered a chapter detailing the forbidden tonic.
It described how the tonic could hinder any pregnancy without causing infertility, with a minty scent and a taste like honey.
You stopped breathing, the realization hitting you like a tidal wave.
Eris used to drink a similar concoction in his office every morning—minty and tasting just like honey, just as described in the book.
You remembered how he once swiftly took the drink out of your hand after you had a sip, warning that it wouldn't be safe for a woman.
At the time, you hadn't thought much of it. But now, everything pointed to your husband being the one who used the forbidden tonic. Tears streamed down your face as you realized his betrayal.
You sobbed, as your mind raced through the events of the past few months.
You remembered how Eris had taken care of you, reassuring you that you weren't at fault for the failed conceptions. You went through every moment you had with him, his reaction, how he didn't mourn.
Now, you saw the deception clearly, realizing what a fool you had been to fall for his lies.
He had truly lived up to his name—the cruel prince of autumn.
You never anticipated that you would become a pawn in his schemes.
Questions swirled in your mind. Did he, like Charles, have another woman by his side?
Was he in love with someone else?
Jealousy gnawed at you. Why couldn't he confide in you? After all, you were friends before you were married.
Feelings of stupidity washed over you. Why did you even care now? He had lied to you, and he was probably involved with another woman. There wouldn't be any other reason to use the cursed tonic, right.
Why? Why? Why?
Why would he do it?
• •
You cried the whole night, your eyes swollen and bloodshot red by morning.
Your back ached from falling asleep in the library, and you felt chilled to the bone. Your heart raced with anxiety as you glamoured yourself to avoid questions from your family.
As you dressed and looked into the mirror, doubt crept in.
Were you truly beautiful and put together, or were you actually ugly? Worries plagued your mind—perhaps you were too clingy, or maybe you simply weren't his type.
Did he even find you attractive at all?
You forced a smile as you gazed at your reflection, but your eyes appeared lifeless, devoid of their usual sparkle. No amount of glamouring could mask the emptiness within. Tears welled up, but you quickly wiped them away.
With a frustrated huff, you adjusted your clothing, trying to compose yourself. Taking a deep breath, you headed downstairs.
The tearful goodbyes were exchanged as you hugged everyone farewell.
Standing outside the manor, you waved goodbye to your family before winnowing away.
• •
You arrived in your room after being attended to by the maids, your personal attendants taking charge of your bag.
Finding yourself alone, Eris was nowhere to be found, but he had left flowers on the vanity along with a letter.
Opening it, you read his words:
Hello, Beautiful.
I hope you enjoyed your time with your family. I have missed you dearly I hope you have missed me too.
It was quite lonely without you. I’m blessed to have you. Without you I am not complete nor at peace.
I promise to give you the life you've always wanted and to provide for you. I'll stand by you through thick and thin 'till death do us part. So don’t ever worry about anything else.
Sadly we will need to join dinner today as my Father has invited us.
Please tell me everything you experienced, what you’ve baked, eaten, played and read.
I also have planned a surprise for you (;
Yours truly, Eris.
You crumpled the letter in your hand, before burning it with a flicker of magic. It would have been sweet if you hadn’t known him to be a liar.
Erecting a barrier around the room to ensure privacy, you screamed and cried out your frustration until your throat grew hoarse and your eyes were dry. Once you stopped, you undressed yourself, feeling the need to wash away the disgust you felt from letting him touch you. A soothing bath would probably help.
• •
Out of the bath, you called for Erica and Grace. Seated at the vanity, Erica dried your hair while Grace selected jewelry for you, presenting it. Today, you decided on wearing a mauve dress, as you were in no mood for vibrant colors like red or orange. Frankly, orange made you look terrible, and you weren't in the mood to deal with that today.
They both appeared nervous, avoiding your gaze as you smiled at them. Sensing their unease, you asked, "What's wrong, girls?"
"Nothing, my lady," Erica replied, but before Grace could answer, you noticed her hesitation.
"We don't want to upset you before dinner," Grace added, her voice faltering.
Your smile faltered as well, a nervous feeling creeping over you.
Your heart began to beat faster as you sensed that something was amiss.
"I would rather know than be kept in the dark," you insisted, turning towards them.
They exchanged a hesitant glance before Erica spoke up quietly, "We have seen the prince meeting with a woman on the days your ladyship was away."
Your heart skipped a beat, but you forced a tight smile and urged them to continue. "Go on," you said, encouraging them.
"The woman doesn’t work here, and we tried to find out more about her, but we’ve found nothing," Erica explained.
"Don’t worry, she's not pretty. You are prettier than her," Grace added quickly.
You couldn't help but chuckle at her remark.
"She's charming enough to keep my husband occupied," you said wryly, a hint of bitterness in your tone.
"Tell me everything you know," you demanded, your voice steady despite the rage burning within you.
"She's a blonde and quite tall, with red eyes," Erica began, and Grace nodded in agreement.
"They also seem to be close. Every time we saw them, they were closely huddled together," Erica continued.
"They would whisper, but we didn't see them being intimate or kiss. They mostly met in the forest or inside the stables," Grace added, her voice tinged with concern.
Meeting a woman in secret usually hinted at an affair behind one's wife's back.
"Alright, please keep an eye on them, but don't put yourselves in danger. If Eris finds out, tell him that I, as his wife, had ordered you two to keep an eye on him. If he asks why, tell him he should confront me, as it is our business," you instructed firmly. Both Erica and Grace nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation.
You stood up, inhaling deeply to steady yourself, and forced a smile at them.
At least now you knew the truth: he had used the tonic, used you for pleasure, lied, cheated, and deceived you. The realization made you feel sick to your stomach. You wanted to take a bath again and scrub your skin.
You knew you had to get out of this situation, whether dead or alive, though preferably alive. Perhaps you could even stage your own death to escape his grasp once and for all.
EPILOGUE: REQUIEM
Chapter 10 <MASTERLIST
SUMMARY: A trip to Brooklyn Botanical Gardens with Sam and Steve trigger a memory buried deep inside Bucky.
Word Count: 3.8k
Warning: HYDRA, living a secret life, Bucky Barnes (isn't he always a warning?) — If there is any more you find not listed here please be sure to let me know so I can add it.
Steve had suggested visiting the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and he had insisted that Bucky and Sam join him. Bucky had grumbled about it, and Sam had joked about being the third wheel on their "date," but they had both accompanied Steve, albeit reluctantly. Both Bucky and Sam understood that this was a chance for Steve to reconnect with his past, and sometimes he needed the support of his closest friends.
As the trio made their way through the lush greenery, the sights and scents of the early summer blooms captivated them. While Steve and Sam explored the gardens with a sense of curiosity and wonder, Bucky found himself drawn towards a particularly familiar fragrance that seemed to tug at the edges of his memory. Compelled by the alluring aroma, he followed his nose, weaving through the meticulously cultivated paths until he came upon a serene, shimmering koi pond. The water's surface was blanketed in a vibrant display of lily pads and blossoms, their petals unfurling in shades of pink, white, and yellow that almost seemed to glow under the warm summer sun.
As Bucky approached the pond, the scent grew stronger, stirring a sense of nostalgia deep within him. Though the fog of his past still shrouded many of his memories, something about this scene felt hauntingly familiar, as if he had experienced it before, perhaps in a distant life, or a dream half-remembered. He paused at the water's edge, his brow furrowed in concentration as he searched his mind, desperate to uncover the elusive connection. The vibrant colors were almost overwhelming to his senses, but it was the sight of the lilies themselves that truly captivated him, their delicate forms swaying gently in the light breeze. In that moment, Bucky was transported, if only briefly, to a time and place he could not quite recall, a memory that lingered just out of reach.
Suddenly, just on the edge of his peripheral vision, a figure emerged from the shimmering heat haze, a fleeting apparition that seemed to materialize from thin air. His heart lurched in his chest as a wave of recognition washed over him. Could it be? Squinting against the glare of the relentless sun, he hastily removed his cap, shielding his eyes as he strained to get a better look. The figure was there one moment, then vanished the next, like a ghost from his past slipping back into the ether.
He blinked rapidly, unsure if his eyes were playing tricks on him in the bright light. For a split second, he thought he glimpsed a familiar profile, a turn of the head, a telltale gait - it had to be her, the one who had haunted his dreams for all these years. But just as quickly as she had appeared, she was gone, swallowed up by the shimmering haze, leaving him with a pounding heart and a head full of questions.
Who was that? Could it really have been her, after all this time? Or was it simply a cruel mirage, a figment of his imagination conjured by the relentless sun and his own yearning? He stood there, transfixed, searching the horizon for any sign of the mysterious figure, his mind racing with a whirlwind of emotions; disbelief, hope, fear. Whatever the truth, one thing was certain: the ghost of his past had returned, and he knew he would never be the same.
Bucky stood transfixed, his gaze fixed upon the calm, glassy surface of the pond before him. The gentle lapping of the water against the sides of the pond provided a soothing, meditative rhythm that had lulled him into a contemplative trance. In this moment, the bustling world around him seemed to fade away, leaving him alone with his thoughts. Just as Steve and Sam approached, calling out to him, Bucky was jolted from his reverie, the spell broken. With a heavy sigh, he reluctantly tore his gaze away, knowing he must rejoin the present, even as a part of him wished to remain in this tranquil, introspective moment a while longer.
“There he is!” Sam nudged Steve before calling out. “Hey, Tin Man!”
Bucky scowled, the serenity of his thoughts broken by the sound of his voice.
“Everything alright, Buck?” Steve asked, noticing his friend’s sorrowful expression.
“Yeah. Thought I saw someone I knew.”
“You have friends outside of the two of us?” Sam asked incredulously, making Bucky roll his eyes and Steve crack a smile.
“Ready to go?” Steve asked.
Bucky nodded, stealing one last glance at the pond as the three men walked away.
*
The cold steel of the makeshift bed pressed against Bucky's cheek, the chill seeping into his bones and sending a shiver down his spine. Even in the hazy, disjointed realm of his dream, the sensation felt startlingly real - the hard, unyielding surface, the musty, stale air filling his nostrils. He could feel the weight of the chains binding his wrists, the metal links digging into his skin with an agonizing bite. This was no mere figment of his imagination, but a memory, a phantom echo of a past he could scarcely recall.
"Kotyonok," he whispered, his voice rough and cracked from disuse, the single word a desperate plea into the void. The name felt like a ghostly whisper from a forgotten world, a fragment of a life he had once known. But the face, the identity that should have accompanied that endearment, remained frustratingly hazy, obscured by the mists of time and trauma. He strained to grasp at the elusive image, to bring it into focus, but it slipped through his fingers like wisps of smoke.
For just a moment, he saw you - a flash of silky hair, a mischievous glint in beautiful eyes, a smile that could light up even the darkest of rooms. But before he could fully comprehend the vision, you faded, disappearing back into the shadows and leaving him with a suffocating, aching emptiness. He tightened his fist, the phantom pain of the missing arm shooting through him in a blinding wave. "Kotyonok," he tried again, his voice a desperate, guttural plea. "Who are you?"
The world around him twisted and shifted, the clinical, sterile room morphing into the dimly lit confines of an apartment. A shared laugh, a melody he couldn't quite place, echoed from a time he could no longer recall. The scent of lilies filled the air, a fragrance that made his stomach clench with a yearning so profound it was almost physically painful. "Kotyonok," he choked out, reaching for you with his metal hand. But his fingers only grasped at empty air, the phantom of your presence fading back into the darkness.
Bucky awoke with a gasp, his metallic hand clenching into a tight fist as he was pulled back into the familiar confines of his room, the cold metal of his bed keeping him grounded. He was alone, but the name ‘Kotyonok’ echoed in his head, a haunting whisper that promised a past he could barely remember, and a future he could scarcely imagine. It was a ghost, a shadow of something lost, and it left him aching with a longing he couldn't begin to comprehend.
*
Bucky's mind was a whirlwind of fragmented memories and emotions, like shards of a shattered mirror reflecting glimpses of a life he could barely recognize as his own. The sound of Sam's voice jolted him back from the precipice of that dark, tumultuous inner landscape, where the ghosts of his past threatened to consume him.
“Bucky? Are you alright, man?” Sam's tone was laced with genuine concern, his brow furrowed as he studied his friend's distant, troubled expression.
Bucky let out a weary sigh, trying to push away the phantom feelings that still lingered, the echoes of a life he could scarcely recall. "Yeah, just a little tired," he mumbled, the words feeling hollow even as they left his lips.
Sam frowned, the lines on his face deepening as he recognized the familiar signs, the haunted look in Bucky's eyes, the subtle tension in his posture. He knew all too well about the nightmares that still plagued his friend, the horrific visions of his time as the Winter Soldier. But these were different, Sam could sense it. These were the ghosts of something else, a love perhaps, a connection that had been ripped away and now existed only in the hazy, fragmented remnants of Bucky's memory.
“I know you're getting better, Bucky,” Sam said, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder in a gesture of support and understanding. “But sometimes, the past doesn't just disappear. It lingers, like a shadow, always lurking just out of sight.”
Bucky nodded, the hollow feeling in the pit of his stomach growing more pronounced. He needed to know, he needed to find out who you were, who you had been to him. It was a compulsion, a driving need to uncover the truth, to reclaim that which had been lost. And so he began his search, scouring old files, questioning anyone he could from his troubled past, chasing every phantom echo that whispered your name. The weight of this quest was a crushing burden, and there were times when Bucky felt on the verge of giving up, the futility of his efforts overwhelming. But still, he returned to the gardens, again and again, as if drawn there by an unseen force, a connection that he was desperate to rediscover and understand.
*
Bucky had returned to the botanical gardens, his steps quiet and his movements stealthy as he moved through the lush greenery, his eyes scanning the faces of every passerby with a razor-sharp focus. He was certain that if he saw you again, he would recognize you instantly, no matter how much time had passed or how much you might have changed. Settling onto his usual bench, he allowed his weary body to sink into the cool shade, his eyelids growing heavy as he drifted into a light doze.
But his dreams were anything but peaceful, they were a jumbled, vivid mess of his own haunting memories, the HYDRA valley where he had fallen from the train playing out in horrific detail. Yet, suddenly, the dreams shifted, and it was no longer him plummeting into the abyss, but you. Bucky jolted awake, a crushing realization weighing heavily on his chest. Had his desperate search been in vain all along? Was his mission to find you a fruitless endeavor, doomed to end in failure and heartbreak?
Shaken, he rose from the bench, his steps quickening as he strode out of the park, his focus distracted as he marched blindly, only to collide with someone much smaller than his imposing frame. Bucky's brow furrowed, his metal arm flexing reflexively as he steadied them, his mind still reeling from the intensity of his dreams and the uncertainty of his quest.
In that electrifying moment, as your gaze locked with Bucky's, the world seemed to slow to a standstill. The familiar stranger before you was unmistakably the man you had once loved with every fiber of your being, the same piercing eyes, the same chiseled jawline, the same aura of strength and resilience that had always drawn you to him. Yet, the years of hardship and trauma etched into his features were a painful reminder of the ordeals you had both endured. The horrors you had faced together, the anguish and suffering you had shared, had threatened to tear you apart forever. But now, in this fleeting instance, all of that faded away, replaced by a surge of joy and disbelief that threatened to overwhelm you.
“Bucky?” you whispered, your voice trembling.
A flicker of recognition ignited within Bucky, his lips curling into a hesitant, almost disbelieving smile as he uttered “Kotyonok,” his voice barely above a whisper. “Is it really you?”
In that moment, the years of separation, the torment and uncertainty, vanished into a distant echo, leaving only the overwhelming realization that your unbreakable bond had survived the darkest of trials. The love he had felt for you all those years ago came rushing back, a tidal wave of emotion that threatened to consume you both. As his fingers brushed against yours, an electric current crackled between you, a tangible reminder of the love that had once been lost, but now seemed to have blossomed anew, like a delicate flower emerging from the ashes of despair.
Bucky's gaze was filled with a mixture of wonder and relief, mirroring the tumultuous emotions swirling within you. “I didn’t think you’d remember me,” you whispered, your voice choked with the weight of all that had transpired.
“I thought you were… gone,” he replied, the words laced with a profound sense of loss and disbelief.
“I… I thought you were too,” you said softly, your heart swelling with the realization that you had both defied the odds, that you had both somehow managed to cling to life in the face of unimaginable adversity.
As Bucky reached up and laid his hand gingerly on your cheek, the tender gesture spoke volumes, a silent declaration of the love that had never truly faded, even in the darkest of times. A wave of emotion washed over him, a mix of relief and heartache. “I thought I had lost you forever,” he said, his voice husky with emotion.
“I'm here now,” you whispered, squeezing his hand gently. “I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere.”
He leaned down, his gaze intense, a mixture of longing and fear in his eyes. “I don't want to let you go again,” he said, his voice barely a whisper.
“I don't want to let you go either,” you whispered back, your heart echoing the sentiment.
You motioned at the bench and Bucky took your hand as you both sat down.
“How did you find me?” You asked. “I expected Karpov would have ordered your memory wiped.”
“He did,” Bucky sighed.
“Then how-” you started asking.
“I remember you,” he whispered, his voice breaking. “I remember everything. Being here, it triggered something, and I’ve not been able to stop thinking about you since then, Kotyonok.”
“Kotyonok,” you echoed softly, savoring the sound of his nickname for you, a reminder of a love that had defied the odds. “How did you know I would be here?”
“I didn't. My friend… Steve… he likes to come here. He asked us to come with him a few times, but last month, I… was drawn to this garden,” he said, his voice soft, almost shy. “The smell of the lilies, they reminded me of you.”
You grinned, a genuine, heartfelt smile that lit up your face. “They're my favorite.”
“You always smelled of them,” he murmured, a fond smile playing on his lips. You loved that he remembered that about you, the little things that made you, you.
“I've been watching you… on the news,” you admitted, a faint blush rising on your cheeks. “I've seen all the good things you've done with Captain America and the other Avengers. You're a hero, Bucky.” You wanted him to know that you saw who he really was, not the person HYDRA had made him.
He chuckled, a low rumble in his chest. “I don't feel like a hero. I'm just... trying to make things right.”
“You are making things right,” you said, your voice full of conviction. “You're fighting for what's good, and that's all that matters.”
“Why… why didn't you come and find me?” he asked, his voice trembling with a mix of hope and apprehension.
You hesitated, a ghost of pain flitting across your features. “I was afraid… that you wouldn't remember who I was. And… I don’t know if HYDRA is still looking for me. It’s not like I was important in the grand scheme of things, but-”
“You are important,” he interrupted, his voice filled with conviction. He gently cupped your cheek, his touch sending a surge of warmth through you. He made you feel important, like you were the most important person in the world.
Bucky's gaze softened, and he reached out, his calloused fingers tracing the lines of your face. “How... how did you survive, Kotyonok?”
Your gaze drifted away, lost in the depths of your own memories. “Honestly, I don’t remember anything. I woke up in a farmhouse, this old couple… they took care of me. They were sweet, but I didn’t stay with them for long. Didn’t want HYDRA finding me with them, hurting them.” His hand on your shoulder gave you the strength to keep talking through the painful memories. “Moved around a lot after that, trying to stay under the radar. But I did it. I survived, and… so did you.”
His eyes held yours, searching for some understanding, some confirmation of the love that had survived the horrors they had endured. “I was so scared, Kotyonok. I thought I'd never see you again.”
“But you found me,” you said, squeezing his hand. “And I'm not going anywhere.”
As Bucky's cool, vibranium digits enveloped your hands, you couldn't help but revel in the sensation. The sleek, metallic limb glinted in the light, its surface smooth and unblemished. You gazed, awestruck, at the intricate engineering on display, the way the vibranium had been seamlessly integrated to create a prosthetic that was both functional and aesthetically captivating. Gone was the harsh, utilitarian titanium that had once clashed so jarringly with the Winter Soldier's dark, menacing attire. This new arm radiated an air of refined elegance and restrained power, its strength and capability hidden beneath a streamlined, sophisticated exterior.
As you traced the delicate golden veins that shimmered against the matte black base, you couldn't help but marvel at the sheer craftsmanship that had gone into its creation. Each groove, each contour, spoke to the meticulous attention to detail that had been poured into this prosthetic. It was a true work of art, blending cutting-edge technology with a sense of timeless beauty. You knew that beneath that exquisite exterior lay a strength and power that was truly awe-inspiring. This was no mere replacement limb, it was an extension of Bucky himself, a testament to his resilience and the remarkable feats he had accomplished.
“Bucky!” you exclaimed, your voice tinged with wonder. “It's incredible.” You took his metallic hand in yours, feeling its lightness and balance.
“How does it feel?” you inquired.
“So much better,” Bucky replied, his voice carrying a newfound confidence. “Lighter, more...natural.”
“I can tell,” you said, noting his improved posture. “You're standing taller.” A gentle smile spread across your face.
“You can't resist, can you?” Bucky said, a playful twinkle in his eye.
“Resist what?” you asked, feigning innocence.
“Taking care of me,” Bucky answered.
You couldn't help but laugh. “I can't help it. I love caring for you.” Your words were filled with an unwavering affection that warmed Bucky's heart.
“I don't want to let you go again,” Bucky said, his voice filled with both sorrow and a hint of determination.
“Neither do I,” you replied.
His face hovered impossibly close, mere inches from your own, as he sat beside you on the weathered park bench. The warmth of his breath caressed your skin, sending a shiver down your spine, and you longed to close the remaining distance, to feel the familiar softness of his lips against yours once more. Yet, a nagging doubt gnawed at the edges of your mind, a persistent voice whispering that something was not quite right. Was this truly the man you had loved with such fervent devotion all those years ago, the soldier whose every touch had ignited a fire within you? Or had he changed, subtly but irrevocably, during the long years of separation, his eyes no longer holding the same unwavering adoration, his tender caresses replaced by a hesitance that belied a shift in his affections?
Despite his reassuring words, the ones that had once made your heart swell with joy, you found yourself unable to silence the unsettling questions that plagued you. What if the feelings that had once burned so brightly between you no longer mirrored the all-consuming devotion of the past? What if the man you saw before you, so tantalizingly close yet somehow distant, was no longer the same person you had given your heart to all those years ago? The uncertainty weighed heavily upon you, a thick fog obscuring the path forward, as you grappled with the fear that the man you loved may have been irretrievably lost to you.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, still reading you as easily as he always had.
You hesitated, your gaze dropping to your trembling hands. “It's just... you're here, and yet…”
“And yet it feels like I'm a stranger?” he finished, his voice tinged with sadness.
You nodded, unable to deny your feelings. “I've missed you so much, but I can't shake this feeling that something has changed.”
A deep sigh escaped Bucky’s lips as he reached out to cup your face. “I know what you mean. I've changed, Kotyonok.”
His words hung heavy in the air, like a weight upon your heart. “But you're still you,” you protested, desperate to cling to the man you had known. “Deep down, you're still the same person, aren’t you?”
The uncertainty lingered, a cloud obscuring the path ahead. But the flicker of longing in his eyes, the soft tremor in his voice, spoke of a man struggling to find his way back to the light. You knew, deep down, that this wasn’t just about the past, but about the future. About the chance to rewrite your story, to navigate the uncharted waters of your second chance.
“I don’t know.”
Your heart sank, but before you had the time to process your disappointment, he continued.
“But, if you’re willing to give me a chance, I would like to find out… with you.” He stared into your eyes, his gaze searching, questioning.
“You would?”
And then, a slow smile spread across his face, a glimmer of hope igniting in his eyes. He leaned closer, his voice a soft promise against your lips. “I would, Kotyonok. I want to fight for us. For you.”
In the depths of his eyes, you saw a glimmer of hope, a determination that had not been extinguished. Bucky was willing to fight, to embark on this journey with you, to rediscover the love that had once bound you together. It was a chance, a precious opportunity to rewrite your story, to forge a new path that would lead you both back to the light. And as he leaned in, his lips brushing against yours in a tender, hopeful kiss, you knew that you would be willing to take that chance, to walk this uncharted road by his side, no matter what obstacles lay ahead.
It wasn’t meant to be a secret. It really wasn't.
But here you are, cooped up in the cold premise of your shared bathroom, waiting for the gel to dry into your skin as you stare at your figure in the mirror, noticing the little changes with a strange sense of europhia. You wished you could run back to the arms of your boyfriend as you ramble about how good the hormones have been working, how you can see your outer shell peeling open to show the man who's been living in the inside, a feedback loop that had you seeing yourself in reflections instead of skin and hair and face that you'd barely recognised. Maybe his face would melt into that gorgeous smile, arms pulling you closer to him like he's seeping off the happiness he swears he sees seeping off your skin's pores. But it's the flip of a coin, a winning ticket in an uncertain lottery.
you're not so sure if Kyle would love the kind of person you were.
gender hadn't ever been a point of focus in your conversations, never something that had to be caught and pinned down with word or thought. he was a man, you were a man, and you loved each other. both of you did your best to keep it at that simplicity. but part of you, like the serpent to adam and eve, had always doubted whether kyle would look at you with the same eyes if you somehow ended up showing him your childhood photos or now-invalid passport, the face that was still soaked with dysphoria-ridden tears.
the gel is still sticking to your ribs when the door practically flies off its hinges slamming against concrete walls and gaping open your closed eyes with ugly sound. There's a groan of exasperation that should make you giggle, but only makes already tense muscles almost turn to stone. "honey, you done ? really need to take a fat shi-"
And then there's that silence both unsurprising but dreaded, how it felt to inhale smoke.
You hate the shock as his eyes run over your bare chest in realisation, feeling any words about to come out crawling back into your windpipe as he notices the thin layer of gel and the label of the bottle on the sink.
"love?" he calls, an endearing substitute replacing your name. you didn’t know if he'd call you that, even after this revelation. Or did he not know what else to call you now that this had been revealed ? "kyle," you echo.
please just look at me, kyle.
his eyes still look the same as how they look at you; stormclouds that accompany you on lonely and rainy nights, and your eyes can't help on focus on the pretty shade of grey instead of the battering of water droplets hitting against tin. Not once does it ever shift to malice or hatred- only worry, for you, maybe.
"do you want to talk about it right now ?" isn't the response that you expected. It's an gentle offer, and extended hand waiting for you to take or push away, more freeing than astute observations of your perceived identity or the bitter words hissed out when others had realised. You can only nod your head in response.
"im sorry," you say, and you don’t know how much (what you're) apologising for. Sorry for never telling you. Sorry for making a distance that could have been avoided. Sorry for being this without your permission, anyone else's permission.
but he's quick to hold you and the shame that you carry , not minding any of the gel residue on his shirt. "hey, no, it's okay," his voice is gentle, reaching out for your secluded self. "remember what I told you when we first started dating?" he puts a hand to your head, playing with your hair as he pulls you closer to him. "I love all of you, dove. Everything." he rests his chin onto your shoulder, murmuring the words into your ear. And you can't help but hug back, clinging to him like a lifeline. Your lifeline. "I love you too," you muse.
you both stay there for a minute before he pulls away with a complaint of some back pain from a recent mission, and you kiss his nose, allowing yourself to smile for the first time since he'd entered the room. "so.." you start, now perched on the rim of the bathtub. "you're ok with me being trans?"
you giggle when he deadpans at you, "love, I just hugged you for 5 full minutes after seeing you apply testosterone instead of taking a shit. I don’t really care if you're trans."
and after your testosterone dries and you put on your shirt, you both in bed, tangled up in each other's arms. ramblings about little stories or town gossip. professions of grandiose love guised under quiet murmurs. the hormones are still a little crusty on your skin, but they're doing the work that should have been done since birth.
The same, always changing.
Your day had started like any other, but little did you know that it would take an unexpected turn. As a dedicated commander in the sector, you often found yourself caught up in the chaos of everyday life. On this particular day, however, fate had something else in store for you.
A mundane trip to the training room turned into a clumsy misadventure as you stumbled on an uneven pavement, twisting your ankle. As you winced in pain, you couldn’t help but be grateful that it wasn’t something more serious. Still, the throbbing ache in your ankle demanded attention.
Fortunately, your boyfriend, Aaron Warner, had insisted on accompanying you. His abilities, a gift or perhaps a curse, allowed him to sense the emotions and physical well-being of those around him. Today, as he accompanied you to the training room or gym, an unsettling feeling settled in the pit of his stomach. His instincts were telling him that something wasn’t right.
Aaron swiftly made his way towards you, his mind already calculating the best course of action. As he approached, you tried to hide the pain, a brave smile on your face.
“Love, are you okay?” He asked you, concern etched on his face.
You managed a half-smile, trying to downplay the situation. “I’m fine. Just a little twist, nothing major.” you insisted, but your attempt at bravado was met with a skeptical arch of his eyebrow.
But your boyfriend obviously wasn’t convinced. Aaron took a step closer, his hand gently cupping your cheek as he peered into your eyes. “You’re hurt,” he stated, his thumb brushing over your cheekbone.
You sighed, relenting under his intense gaze. “Okay, maybe a little. But it’s nothing I can’t handle.”
Aaron, however, was having none of it. With a stern expression, He gently lifted your body, carrying you in a bridal style. ”Let’s get you home and take a look at that ankle.” His touch was both reassuring and possessive, as if he could shield you from any harm with just the strength of his presence.
“I can still walk by myself, you know. I still have my other one.” You stated stubbornly that made him chuckle in amusement,
“Mhm, I know you can but let me, love.” He said as you opened your mouth to protest, but you noticed his tone and action that silenced you. It wasn’t a request; it was a statement. He wanted you to rest and be comfortable.
Once you guys were at your shared bedroom, Aaron guided you to the bed and insisted you put your feet up to the little chair he brought. He then kissed your forehead, “I will be right back, my love.” And he disappeared somewhere, returning with an ice pack and a first aid kit.
“I think I might have some bandages somewhere in here,” he mumbled, rifling through the contents of the first aid kit.
He then carefully assessed the extent of your injuries. His fingers traced the lines of a bruise, his touch gentle yet purposeful. “You need to take better care of yourself,” he chided softly, his eyes filled with a mixture of concern and affection.
“You don’t have to be worried about me.” You insist.
His lips curled into a small, affectionate smile. “Love, it’s kind of my thing, worrying about you. Now, let me finish this, and we can cuddle to sleep.”
As he worked, Aaron’s mind raced with thoughts of how he could make things easier for you. His protective instincts kicked into overdrive, and he couldn’t fathom the idea of you enduring unnecessary pain.
"Better?" he asked, looking up at you with a soft smile.
You nodded, grateful for your beloved. “Much better. Thank you, darling.”
He sat down beside you, placing a soft kiss to your lips and softly pinching your nose. “You are very much welcome, my love. Now, you just rest here. I’ll take care of everything else, yeah?”
And true to his word, your boyfriend seamlessly stepped into the role of caretaker. He fetched a warm tea and was making sure you were comfortable on the bed. He even went as far as grabbing your book and setting it up on the bedside table. ”I've got everything under control,” he assured you, his gaze warm and reassuring.
You couldn’t help but smile at his unwavering support. “You’re amazing, you know that?”
Aaron smirked, a playful glint in his eyes. "I will try my best. Now, get some rest, love”
As you settled into the sanctuary of the shared bedroom, Warner didn’t leave your side. Instead, he draped a blanket over your shoulders, peppered you with kisses, played with your hair, and hugged you most of the day. The concern in his eyes never wavered.
Hours passed, marked by the occasional murmur of conversation and the gentle hum of the surroundings. Aaron, always vigilant, kept an eye on you, ensuring that you were comfortable and at ease. The day transformed into a quiet sanctuary, a haven.
“Feeling better?” he asked, his eyes filled with genuine concern.
You nodded, ”Much better, thanks to you.” As you leaned over to his chest.
Aaron holds you tighter in, placing a gentle kiss on your forehead. “Of course, love. It's the least I can do.”
“I really appreciate everything you’ve done today, baby,” you said, your gaze filled with gratitude.
He smiled, his eyes softening. “It’s my pleasure. I hate seeing you in pain, and if I can make things a little better, then it is worth it.”
Before you could respond, Aaron wrapped his arms around you in a more tight embrace. His warmth enveloped you, and you felt a sense of security in his arms.
“Thank you again for taking care of me,” you whispered, your head nestled against his chest.
“Always,” Aaron replied, his voice a soothing melody. “And I’m sorry you got hurt,” he murmured against your hair, his words a tender caress. “I wish I could shield you from every pain.”
You leaned into the embrace, savoring the warmth and comfort he provided. “I wouldn’t want it any other way,” you whispered, your fingers gently tracing patterns on his back.
As Aemond Targaryen walked towards his apartment building, his mind swirled with the day's lectures and the huge stack of papers waiting to be graded. Lost in his own mind he rounded the corner and nearly collided with someone standing just outside the entrance.
"Oops, sorry about that," Aemond said quickly, catching himself before bumping into the person.
"No worries" came the gentle reply, accompanied by the soft tap-tap of a cane.
Aemond's gaze shifted downward, noticing the guide dog sitting calmly beside the person. "Ah, you must be my new neighbour," he surmised.
"Yes, that's right," she confirmed with a smile. "I'm Wilhelmina Skylark, but my friends call me Billie. And this here-" she gestured to the dog beside her, "-Is Darcie."
"A pleasure to meet you, Billie and Darcie-" Aemond replied warmly. "I'm Aemond Targaryen."
Billie chuckled softly. "Targaryen, huh? That sounds like it's straight out of a history book."
Aemond nodded, a hint of pride in his voice. "Funny you should say that. I actually teach history over at the university."
"That must be interesting-" Billie remarked. "-I've always been fascinated by history, what came before and how we’ve evolved over time”.
Aemond found himself intrigued. "Well, perhaps I could share some of my expertise sometime" he offered.
Billie's smile widened. "I'd like that."
As they chatted, Aemond couldn't help but notice the grace and resilience with which Billie navigated her world.
“So, Wilhelmina-“
“-Gods I hate my first name” chuckled Billie, as she reached up to adjust the sunglasses on her face.
"Why don't you like your first name?" Aemond asked, curiously.
Billie hesitated for a moment before answering. "It just never felt like me, you know? Wilhelmina sounds so formal. But Billie, well, that feels more like my style”.
Aemond nodded understandingly. "I see what you mean. But I must say, both names suit you perfectly."
Billie laughed softly. "You're too kind, Aemond."
"So, Billie," Aemond began, curiosity lacing his words, "What do you do for a living?"
Billie chuckled softly, a hint of mischief in her tone. "Well, prepare yourself for something a bit unexpected. I'm a perfume designer."
"A perfume designer?" Aemond echoed, surprise evident in his voice. "That's fascinating! How did you get into that?"
Billie's smile was radiant. "It's a bit of a long story, but let's just say I've always had a keen sense of smell. Even though I can't see the world around me, I've always found beauty in the scents that surround us."
Aemond listened intently, intrigued by Billie's unique perspective on the world. "That's truly remarkable. I imagine your work must be quite intricate, crafting fragrances that evoke certain emotions or memories."
Billie nodded; her expression thoughtful. "Exactly. Perfume has a way of capturing moments in time, transporting people to different places. It's a form of art that I'm deeply passionate about."
Aemond couldn't help but be drawn in by Billie's passion and creativity. "It sounds like you have an incredible talent," he remarked, admiration colouring his words.
Billie's cheeks flushed slightly at the compliment. "Thank you, Aemond. It's not often that people understand what I do, let alone appreciate it."
"Well, count me among those who do," Aemond replied sincerely. "I'd love to hear more about your work sometime, if you're willing to share."
Billie's smile widened, her excitement palpable. "I'd like that very much."
"Would you like me to escort you to your apartment?" Aemond asked, his voice gentle and genuine.
Billie chuckled softly; her smile evident even in her voice. "Thank you, Aemond, but I can manage just fine. Darcie here knows the way”.
Aemond felt a pang of embarrassment at his presumption, quickly realizing his misstep. "I'm sorry, Billie, I didn't mean to imply that you needed help. It's just-a habit, I suppose."
Billie's laughter was warm and understanding. "No need to apologize, Aemond. I appreciate the offer, truly."
Relief washed over Aemond as he realized Billie harboured no ill feelings towards him. "Thank you for being so gracious about it," he said sincerely.
"It's nothing," Billie replied with a dismissive wave of her hand. "Besides, it's nice to know there are still gentlemen like you around."
Aemond couldn't help but smile at the compliment. "Well, if you ever do need anything, don't hesitate to ask."
Billie's smile widened. "I'll keep that in mind, good day Aemond."
"Good day, Billie," Aemond echoed, watching as she and Darcie made their way towards the elevator. As he turned to head to his own apartment, he couldn't shake the feeling of warmth that lingered from their encounter.
In the days that followed their initial encounter, Aemond and Billie found themselves gravitating towards each other more and more. What started as casual conversations in the hallway soon blossomed into deep, meaningful discussions over cups of coffee and leisurely walks through the neighbourhood.
As their friendship grew, Aemond couldn't help but be captivated by Billie's resilience and zest for life. Despite the challenges she faced as a blind woman, she approached each day with unwavering optimism and grace, inspiring Aemond in ways he never thought possible.
One evening, as they sat in Aemond's living room, savouring the warmth of a crackling fire, Aemond's aging Maine Coone cat, Vhagar, made her entrance. Known for her disdain for most people, Vhagar typically kept her distance from strangers.
To Aemond's surprise, Vhagar didn't shy away from Billie. Instead, she sauntered over to her, nuzzling against her leg with a contented purr.
"Well, I'll be damned," Aemond muttered in disbelief. "Vhagar doesn't usually take to people like this."
Billie laughed softly, her fingers gently stroking the cat's fur. "Maybe she senses a kindred spirit in me."
Aemond couldn't argue with that logic. It seemed that Billie had a way of melting even the iciest of hearts.
As the days turned into weeks, Aemond and Billie discovered that they had more in common than they initially realized. From their shared love of literature and movies to their mutual fascination with history.
Before long, Aemond found himself confiding in Billie in ways he never thought possible, sharing his hopes, dreams, and fears without reservation. In turn, Billie opened up to him, offering glimpses into her world that few were privileged to see.
One quiet evening, as they sat together in Aemond's living room, the topic of conversation took a more sombre turn. Aemond had always been curious about Billie's blindness, but he had hesitated to broach the subject, fearing that he might unintentionally cause her pain.
"Billie," Aemond began tentatively, his voice soft, "if you don't mind me asking, how did you- become blind?"
Billie's expression softened, a hint of sadness flickering in her eyes. "I was born blind" she replied gently. "I've never known what it's like to see."
Aemond felt a pang of guilt wash over him at his presumptuous question. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry," he apologized earnestly.
Billie reached out and placed a comforting hand on his arm. "It's alright, Aemond. I understand your curiosity. It's only natural."
Embarrassment coloured Aemond's cheeks as he struggled to find the right words. "Thank you for being so understanding," he murmured.
Billie offered him a reassuring smile before the silence between them grew comfortable once more. Sensing an opportunity for honesty, Aemond decided to share a part of himself with Billie that he had kept hidden for so long.
"You know, Billie," Aemond began slowly, his voice tinged with vulnerability, "I'm not without my own- affliction."
Billie's brow furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean, Aemond?"
Taking a deep breath, Aemond recounted the painful memory that had haunted him since childhood. "When I was just a boy, my nephew and I got into a fight," he explained, his gaze fixed on a distant point in the room. "It was foolish, really. But in the heat of the moment, he-he struck me, and I lost my left eye as a result."
Billie's eyes widened in shock, her hand flying to her mouth in disbelief. "Oh, Aemond, I had no idea-"
Aemond shook his head, a sad smile playing at his lips. "It's not something I often talk about. But I feel like I can tell you anything”.
“I’ll always listen” replied Billie softly.
"Billie," Aemond began hesitantly, his voice tinged with a mixture of nostalgia and regret, "There's something else I need to tell you about-someone from my past."
Billie listened intently, her expression soft and compassionate.
"Alys Rivers," Aemond continued, the name heavy on his tongue. "She was-she was my first love".
Billie's brow furrowed in curiosity. "It’s ok take your time-"
Aemond took a deep breath, steeling himself for the memories that threatened to engulf him. "Alys was much older than me," he explained. "She had a way about her, a confidence that drew me in. She made me feel special, like I was more than just the broken reflection I saw in the mirror."
Billie reached out and squeezed his hand in silent support, urging him to continue.
"I hated my reflection for years," Aemond admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "The scar, the missing eye-they were constant reminders of the boy I used to be, before everything changed."
"But Alys," he continued, a hint of longing in his voice, she made me forget all of that, if only for a little while. I lost my virginity to her, and for a time, I thought I loved her."
"But-" he continued, his voice strained with emotion, "-Alys eventually showed her true colours. She-she kept cheating on me and she would say things-hurtful things."
Billie's eyes widened in shock, her hand flying to her mouth in disbelief.
"What did she say?" she asked softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Aemond closed his eye, the words tasting bitter on his tongue. "She called me ugly," he confessed, his voice barely a whisper. "She said I was worthless, that no one would ever love me with a face like mine."
Billie's heart clenched at the cruelty of Alys's words, the pain in Aemond's voice palpable.
"Oh, Aemond," she murmured, her voice thick with sympathy, "I can't imagine how much that must have hurt."
Aemond shook his head, a bitter laugh escaping his lips. "It did," he admitted, his voice raw with emotion. "For years, I believed her. I let her words define me, shape me into someone I wasn't."
"But not anymore," Billie interjected firmly, her gaze unwavering. "You're not defined by your scars, Aemond. You're so much more than that”.
“Billie-“ whispered Aemond.
"Aemond," she began softly, her voice tinged with sadness, "Navigating a life without sight-it hasn't been easy."
Aemond listened intently, his gaze fixed on Billie as she spoke.
"But-" she continued, a note of determination creeping into her voice, "through touch, I've learned to experience so many things. The texture of a book's pages, the warmth of the sun on my skin, the gentle caress of a breeze."
Aemond felt a lump form in his throat as he realized the depth of Billie's resilience, the quiet strength that had carried her through the darkest of days.
"Billie," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion, "You're truly remarkable."
Billie smiled softly, gratitude shining in her eyes. "Thank you, Aemond. But there's something I want to ask you-"
Aemond cocked his head in curiosity, inviting her to continue.
"May I-may I touch you, Aemond?" she asked softly, her voice tinged with vulnerability.
Aemond's heart swelled with tenderness at Billie's request, the depth of her trust in him echoing in the space between them.
"Of course, Billie," he replied, his voice filled with warmth.
Billie reached forward, her fingertips delicately tracing the contours of his face, Aemond closed his eye, a mixture of apprehension and curiosity coursing through him. He felt her hands cupping his cheeks gently, her touch both tentative and assured as she explored his features with a gentle reverence.
With practiced precision, Billie's fingers moved over the sharp lines of his jaw, the smooth curve of his lips, and the slight indentation of his scar.
She felt the slight pressure of the eyepatch he wore, and a curious thought crossed her mind.
"Aemond," she whispered softly, her voice barely above a breath, "May I-may I take this off?"
Aemond hesitated for a moment before nodding silently, his heart racing with anticipation.
Then, with a careful motion, she reached up and removed the eyepatch that concealed his missing eye, her touch feather light as she grazed the skin around the scar.
Aemond's breath caught in his throat at her touch, a surge of vulnerability washing over him.
"You're so beautiful" Billie declared softly as her fingers threaded through his long silver hair.
Aemond took a deep breath as he felt a tear escape his eye.
"Billie," he began, his voice barely above a whisper, "Can I kiss you?"
Billie's breath caught in her throat at Aemond's request, her heart racing with a mixture of excitement and uncertainty.
"Yes," she whispered softly, her voice barely audible in the hushed silence of the room.
With a tender reverence, Aemond leaned forward, closing the distance between them with aching slowness. Their lips met in a gentle caress, a soft sigh escaping them both as they melted into each other's embrace.
"Billie," he began, his voice tinged with a hint of shyness, "There's something I've been wanting to ask you-"
Billie's gaze softened, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips as she waited patiently for Aemond to continue.
"Would you like to be my girlfriend?" Aemond blurted out, the words tumbling from his lips in a rush of emotion.
Billie's eyes widened in surprise, her heart skipping a beat at Aemond's unexpected confession.
"Yes," she replied softly, her voice filled with warmth and affection. "I would love to be your girlfriend."
A wave of relief washed over Aemond as he heard Billie's answer, a radiant smile spreading across his face as he reached out to take her hand in his.
"Are you sure they'll like me?" Billie whispered; her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Aemond squeezed her hand reassuringly, a small smile playing at his lips. "They'll love you; I promise."
As they stepped into the grand foyer of the Targaryen estate, Aemond's family gathered to greet them—a warm, welcoming sight that eased the tension in his shoulders.
"Mother, brothers, sister, grandfather," Aemond greeted them each in turn, his voice tinged with pride.
Alicent Hightower, regal and elegant as ever, enveloped Aemond in a tight embrace, her eyes shining with motherly pride. "Aemond, dear, it's so good to see you. And who is this lovely young lady you've brought with you?"
"This is Billie," Aemond introduced, a hint of nervousness creeping into his voice. "My-girlfriend."
Aegon, couldn't resist a sly comment. "Well, well, it's about time, brother. I was beginning to think you'd never find a girlfriend."
Aemond flushed slightly at his brother's teasing, but Billie merely smiled graciously, unfazed by Aegon's jest.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Billie," said Daeron kindly.
Helaena nodded in agreement. "Yes, welcome to the family."
"Aemond has spoken highly of you, my dear. It's a pleasure to finally meet you” said Otto.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you sir” replied Billie softly.
“What’s the stick for?” asked Aegon.
“It helps me to navigate unfamiliar places-I’m blind” replied Billie.
"Blind?" Aegon remarked with a smirk, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Well, Aemond, looks like you finally found the perfect girl—no need to worry about her being put off by that nasty scar of yours, eh?"
Aemond's heart sank at his brother's callous remark, his eye widening in shock as he felt the blood drain from his face. Beside him, Billie stiffened, her jaw clenched in anger.
Before Aemond could even muster a response, Billie's voice cut through the tense silence like a knife.
"How dare you," spat Billie, her eyes flashing with fury. Aegon's smirk faltered, taken aback by Billie's sudden outburst.
"I will not stand here and listen to you belittle him," Billie continued, her voice trembling with righteous indignation. "Aemond is one of the most courageous, kind-hearted individuals I've ever met-“
“-Aemond-courageous?” quipped Aegon sarcastically.
With a swift, decisive motion, Billie's hand lashed out, the sound of her palm meeting Aegon's cheek echoing in the stunned silence of the room.
Aegon stumbled backward, his hand flying to his reddened cheek in disbelief.
Aegon stood there, stunned, as he gingerly touched his reddened cheek, disbelief etched on his face. "I-I can't believe you actually managed to land a slap on me," he stammered, his voice tinged with both surprise and begrudging respect.
Billie stood tall; her chin held high, unapologetic for her actions. "Just because I can't see doesn't mean I'm defenceless," she replied coolly. "Besides, your repulsive odour is enough for me to know exactly where you are."
Aegon's eyebrows shot up in offense, his pride wounded by Billie's blunt assessment. "Hey now, I'll have you know that I always smell just fine," he retorted, a hint of defensiveness creeping into his voice.
Billie couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Oh, please," she scoffed. "I could smell your rank arse from across the room."
Aegon's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, his retort dying on his lips as he struggled to come up with a response.
Billie, however, wasn't finished. "And let's not forget the woman you were obviously with earlier," she continued, her tone cutting. "Surely you could have taken a shower before coming here."
Aemond couldn't hold back his laughter at Billie's boldness, the sound echoing in the room like a peal of thunder.
Aegon's expression darkened, his pride wounded by Billie's blunt honesty. "Well, I never," he muttered, his voice tinged with indignation.
But Billie merely shrugged, unapologetic for her words. "Just speaking the truth," she replied simply, her voice filled with a quiet confidence.
“So, what does Billie do for a living?” asked Alicent.
"Billie designs her own perfumes. She has an incredible sense of smell and a talent for creating unique fragrances."
Alicent's eyes lit up with intrigue. "Is that so?" she exclaimed, turning her attention to Billie. "Tell me, my dear, what perfumes have you released so far?"
Billie smiled warmly; her enthusiasm evident as she spoke. "Well, there's Lavender Luxe," she began, her voice soft and melodic. "It's more of a body mist, but it's infused with lavender essential oil, which helps people relax and unwind after a long day."
Alicent nodded in approval, impressed by Billie's ingenuity. "That sounds lovely," she remarked.
Billie's smile widened as she continued. "And then there's Radiant Rose," she added. "It's a delicate blend of rose petals and citrus, reminiscent of a spring day when the roses are in bloom."
Alicent's eyes sparkled with recognition. "That's the perfume I use," she exclaimed, a smile spreading across her face. "It's simply divine."
Billie's cheeks flushed with pleasure at Alicent's compliment, her heart swelling with pride. "Thank you," she replied graciously, her voice filled with genuine gratitude.
"Do you have any more perfume ideas on the horizon, my dear?" she inquired, her voice filled with genuine interest.
Billie's smile widened, a glint of excitement dancing in her eyes. "Actually, I do," she replied, her voice tinged with enthusiasm. "I've been working on a new fragrance—one that's very special to me."
“That sounds interesting-“ said Helaena brightly.
"It’s in honour of Aemond," replied Billie, her voice soft but resolute, "I've been designing a perfume that captures the essence of his spirit."
A hush fell over the room as Billie's words sank in, the weight of her revelation hanging heavy in the air.
Aemond's heart swelled with emotion as he processed what Billie had just said. Her gesture filled him with a sense of awe and gratitude.
"You're designing a perfume in honour of me?" Aemond stammered, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Yes, Aemond," she replied, her voice filled with conviction. "Because you inspire me, in ways that words can't even begin to describe."
Aemond's heart overflowed with emotion at Billie's words, his eye misting over with tears of gratitude.
"At least Billie has her own money then, not like some of the usual trollops that hover around us" Aegon quipped, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips.
Aemond's jaw clenched with barely concealed anger, his fists tightening at his sides as he struggled to contain his rising fury.
"How dare you," spat Billie, her voice trembling with barely suppressed rage. "You have no right to make such assumptions about me."
Aegon scoffed dismissively, his arrogance palpable. "Oh, please," he retorted, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Isn't that all anyone ever wants Aemond for? His name, his money-"
Billie's fists clenched at her sides, her nails digging into her palms as she fought to keep her composure. "That's not why I'm interested in Aemond," she shot back, her voice laced with steel. "I couldn't care less about his wealth or his status. I love him for who he is, scars and all."
Aegon's smirk faltered, taken aback by Billie's fierce defence of Aemond.
But before he could respond, Billie turned on her heel, her eyes blazing with fury as she stormed out of the room, her footsteps echoing in the tense silence that followed.
But then Aegon's laughter echoed through the room as Billie's departure was punctuated by the sound of a crashing vase, her inadvertent mishap drawing unwanted attention.
"Great one you've brought home there, brother," Aegon quipped, his voice laced with mockery. "Does she need you to hold her hand as she crosses the street?"
With a roar of anger, Aemond launched himself at Aegon, his fist connecting with his brothers face.
The room erupted into chaos as Aemond and Aegon grappled with each other, their shouts and curses filling the air.
"I fucking hate you" Aemond declared, his voice thick with emotion, each word laced with venom, as he punched Aegon in the nose.
"Why?" demanded Aegon, his voice tinged with both confusion and defiance. "Because I speak the truth? Because I refuse to coddle you like everyone else?"
“That’s enough-“ screeched Alicent.
Aemond shook his head, his fists clenching at his sides as he fought to contain the torrent of emotions raging within him.
"No," he replied hoarsely, his voice barely above a whisper. "Because you always have to cause trouble. You always have to ruin everything"
The words hung heavy in the air, a stark reminder of the rift that had always existed between them—a divide born of jealousy, resentment, and betrayal.
With a heavy heart, Aemond pushed Aegon away from him and stormed out of the room, ignoring his mothers concerned calls or the sound of his grandfather berating Aegon for his rude behaviour.
Aemond's steps quickened as he approached his car, his heart heavy with worry for Billie, who stood by his car, her shoulders slumped.
But as he drew closer, he saw her quickly wipe away a tear, a futile attempt to conceal her distress. His heart broke at the sight, the pain in her eyes mirrored his own.
"Billie," he called softly, his voice filled with concern.
"Aemond-" she murmured, her voice trailing off as she struggled to find the words.
Before she could say anything else, Aemond closed the distance between them in a few swift strides, his arms enveloping her in a tight embrace.
"I'm so sorry," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. "I'm sorry for my brother's cruelty”
Billie leaned into his embrace, her tears flowing freely now as she buried her face in his chest, seeking solace in his warmth.
"It's not your fault," she murmured, her voice muffled against his shirt. "You don't have to apologize for him."
But Aemond shook his head, his grip on her tightening. "I won't let anyone hurt you, Billie," he vowed, his voice fierce with determination. "Not now, not ever."
With Billie still held close in his arms, Aemond gently pulled back, his hands framing her face as he looked deeply into her eyes, his own shimmering with emotion.
"Billie," he began, his voice soft but filled with conviction, "You are the most amazing person I have ever met."
Billie's breath caught in her throat at his words, her heart swelling with a mixture of surprise and tenderness.
"So smart, so fierce and determined," Aemond continued, his voice tinged with awe. "You've faced challenges that would break most people, and yet you've emerged stronger than ever."
Billie's eyes glistened with unshed tears as she listened to Aemond's heartfelt words, his love washing over her like a warm embrace.
"I love you," Aemond whispered, his voice barely above a whisper but filled with a depth of feeling that resonated deep within her soul.
Tears spilled down Billie's cheeks as she threw her arms around Aemond once more, holding him tightly as if afraid to let go.
"I love you too," she whispered back, her voice trembling with emotion. "More than you'll ever know."
"Shall we go home?”
“Yes” nodded Billie.
“You can drive-“ replied Aemond.
Billie's eyes widened in surprise at Aemond's unexpected suggestion, but then a smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she realized the absurdity of his joke.
"-Aemond, you know I can't drive," replied Bille with a chuckle.
Aemond joined in her laughter, the tension of the earlier encounter melting away in the warmth of their shared amusement.
"You caught me," admitted Aemond with a grin.
Billie nodded, her laughter subsiding into a soft smile as she gazed up at him with affection. "Thank you for trying to lighten the mood," she said, her gratitude evident in her eyes.
Aemond squeezed her hand gently, his heart swelling with love for the woman beside him. "Anything for you, my dear," he replied, his voice filled with warmth.
"Would you like to stay over, Aemond?" Billie asked softly, her voice filled with warmth and invitation.
Aemond's heart skipped a beat at her words, his gaze meeting hers with a mixture of longing and affection. "Yes, I'd like that," he replied, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
Inside the cozy confines of Billie's flat, they kicked off their shoes and settled onto the couch, the soft glow of the TV casting flickering shadows across the room as Aemond scrolled through the selection of films.
He decided on one of Billie’s favourite films-Jaws.
“I like the music-it’s builds up the tension” said Billie as she snuggled closer to Aemond.
“Me too-“ replied Aemond as he reached for his phone and ordered a pizza.
“Not a fan of the sequels though” whispered Billie as she listened to the dialogue of the film.
“I guess number two wasn’t that bad-but the rest were total shit”.
“There is another shark film I like-Deep Blue Sea” said Billie thoughtfully.
“-Is that the one where they do experiments on the sharks, and they get smarter or something?” asked Aemond curiously.
“Yes, it’s really good. I also like Lake Placid as well” admitted Billie.
“You know I’m starting to see a pattern here-you certainly like your creature feature movies”.
“Yes, I do-I also like disaster movies as well, one of my all-time favourites is the 1970’s Poseidon Adventure-“ said Billie smiling.
“Is the one with the guy who played Grandpa Joe in Willy Wonka?” asked Aemond.
“Yes, it is-another favourite film of mine, I know all the songs word for word”.
“You know I always thought he was a bit of a shifty character-spends most of his life in bed having whoever it was running around after him and then his grandson finds the golden ticket and miraculously, he can walk-“ mused Aemond tapping his chin thoughtfully.
“I mean you do have a point”.
“-And what about that woman in that Tom Hanks film-Forest Gump, she was the true villain of that piece. Only wanted to get involved with him once he had money, then she bogged off and had child-and only introduced him to the child because she was dying-who’s to say the kid was even his-telling you she was an evil master mind” said Aemond.
“How have we gone from Jaws to Forest Gump?” laughed Billie.
“I haven’t got a clue-“ exclaimed Aemond.
“Ooh that will be the pizza-“ said Billie as the doorbell rang.
“Thank god-I’m starving” muttered Aemond as he jumped up from the sofa.
Billie sighed in contentment as she listened to Aemond open the door and cheerfully accept the pizza.
“Thank you-have a nice night” said Aemond as he shut the door. The smell of pepperoni wafting through the apartment.
“Someone seems happy-“ exclaimed Billie.
“Why wouldn’t I be-I’ve got my girl next to me and pepperoni pizza. What more could I ask for?”
“Cheesy chips?” quipped Billie.
“Ooo yes those too-” cheered Aemond as he ripped open a styrofoam box.
“Garlic sauce-“ mused Billie.
“Of course,” replied Aemond as he dipped his finger in the sauce and swiped his finger across Billie’s cheek.
“Hey-“ exclaimed Billie.
“My bad-let me get that for you” said Aemond as he leaned forward and ran his tongue over Billie’s cheek.
“Aemond-“ squeaked Billie.
“Hmmm-delicious” growled Aemond.
Billie giggled as she picked up a slice of pizza and picked off the pepperoni slices before offering them to Darcie.
“I thought you liked pepperoni?”
“I do-but so does Darcie” replied Billie as she took a handful of chips.
After they had finished eating and cleaned away the rubbish, Aemond and Billie settled back down to watch another movie-but part way through Billie had other ideas and she began pressing gentle kisses to Aemond’s neck.
“Hmmm- that feels nice” growled Aemond as he reached over and pulled Billie into his lap.
“I love you so much-“ whispered Aemond.
“-I love you too” replied Billie.
“I want to make love to you” whispered Aemond.
“I-I’ve never done it before” muttered Billie shyly as she pressed her face into Aemond’s chest.
“Oh-“
“I was waiting until I found someone special-” said Billie.
“T-That’s fine-we don’t need to do this-” replied Aemond stroking her hair softly.
“Aemond -your that special someone. I want you to be my first” whispered Billie.
“Only if you’re sure, I don’t want you to feel pressured into anything” said Aemond firmly.
“I’m sure Aemond. I want this-I want you” exclaimed Billie as she took his hand and led him to her bedroom.
Despite his experience, Aemond had never so nervous in his entire life, his hands shook as he slowly undressed himself.
Billie gently tugged off the p.js she was wearing and Aemond could feel his mouth watering at the sight of her delectable body.
“I-I don’t know what to do” muttered Billie her cheeks tinged pink.
“It’s ok-I’ll take care of you” replied Aemond as he directed Billie to sit on the end if the bed.
“I trust you” replied Billie quietly.
Aemond smiled as he knelt on the floor, lowering his head between Billie’s legs.
“I’m going to kiss you down there-is that ok?”
“Y-Yes” stammered Billie.
“Hmmm”
“Aemond-“ shrieked Billie her eyes rolling into the back of her head as Aemond’s tongue swept across her slick wet folds.
Billie bit the back of her hand to keep herself from screaming as Aemond began using his long fingers to tease her entrance.
“Let me hear you”.
“A-Aemond. Oh god. Please” begged Billie
Aemond slowly pressed two fingers inside Billie, moving them against a spot that made her entire body shake, his tongue moving against her folds, his lips wrapping around her pearl.
“I know your almost there. Let it happen my sweet. Come for me” whispered Aemond.
Billie arched her back and let out a scream as her pleasure erupted.
Aemond crawled up Billie’s body, placing gentle kisses on her skin as he moved higher and higher.
“Calm yourself my little bird” murmured Aemond.
“I-I’ve never-” mumbled Billie moving her hands over her face in embarrassment.
“Was that your first peak?” asked Aemond as he gently pulled away her hands and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips.
Bille blushed and nodded quickly, jumping when she felt Aemond’s cock against her.
Aemond then began to place a series of kisses along Billie’s neck, his hand gently cupping her breast before he sucked the rosy bud into his mouth, his tongue rolling around the stiffened peak.
“Don’t worry, I’ll go slow” whispered Aemond as he reached down and took hold of his hard cock rubbing it along Billie’s warm wet folds.
“Ok-I’m ready”
“I-don’t have a condom” whispered Aemond.
“I-I-want to feel you. If that’s ok?”
“Yes-I want to feel you too“ whispered Aemond.
“So beautiful-my Aemond” whispered Billie as she ran her hands over Aemond’s face and placed a kiss upon his scar.
“A-Are you sure you want to do this?” asked Aemond, his cock sliding through Billie’s folds.
“Y-Yes. Please. Aemond Make love to me” replied Billie softly as she opens her legs wider.
“Ok. Take a deep breath-” said Aemond as he slowly pushes the blunt head of his cock inside.
Just the tip felt okay but then he was pushing further inside, and it stung, Billie clenched her eyes shut as his cock fully slid into her, his hips coming to rest against hers.
“Are you ok?” asked Aemond.
“It hurts,” cried Billie a tear slipping down her cheek.
“Do you want me to stop-I can pull out” whispered Aemond his voice laced with concern.
“N-No g-give me a moment” whimpered Billie.
Aemond stops, holding himself still, his hard cock throbbing inside her.
After a few minutes, Aemond begins to press gentle kisses all over Billies face and neck, making her sigh.
“I-I think you can move now” whispered Bille gently moves her hips.
Aemond exhales shakily, pulling out halfway only to thrust right back in.
“You’re taking me so well little bird,” whispers Aemond soothingly, thrusting again, harder this time.
Gradually he gets into a rhythm, his movements slow but powerful.
Billie brings her hands up to his shoulders, clinging to him as his thrusts shift her up and down the bed.
Aemond made a strangled sort of sound and lowered himself onto Billie even more, kissing her passionately.
His cock is still thrusting in and out. Billie kisses him back, threading her fingers through his long silky hair.
Aemond breaks the kiss, breathing heavily.
Billie can feel herself clenching around him as his cock keeps hitting the same spot inside her.
“Ooo Aemond-f-faster. P-please”
Aemond groans as he begins to move faster pounding into her, their skin slapping together.
“Aemond -my Aemond”
“You’re so fucking perfect little bird, mine all mine” growls Aemond.
“Y-Yes, yours all yours” moans Billie squirming as her pleasure peaks and she explodes.
Aemond lets out a long low groan, his hips bucking wildly. His cock twitching as he spills his seed inside her.
Aemond’s hips finally stagger and stop. His face buried in the crook of her neck.
“Are you ok?” asked Aemond, his hot breath tickling her skin.
“I’m fine-I’m glad I waited for you” whispered Billie smiling breathlessly.
Aemond's heart raced with anticipation as he carefully examined the assortment of engagement rings on display in the jeweller’s shop. Each one sparkled and shimmered under the soft glow of the overhead lights.
After much deliberation, he finally settled on a simple yet elegant diamond ring, its brilliance reflecting the depth of his feelings for her—a symbol of their love and commitment.
With the ring safely tucked away in his pocket, Aemond made his way back to his apartment, his heart light with excitement at the thought of proposing to Billie, they had been together almost a year now and Aemond couldn’t wait to spend the rest of his life with her, shortly after their first time being intimate with one another, Aemond had asked Billie to move in with him and she readily agreed, which pleased him no end as he spent countless nights between Billie's thighs and taking her on every available surface in the apartment.
Obviously Vhagar took some time adjusting to spending everyday with Darcie, but she begrudgingly accepted it-with bribery from Billie that consisted of endless cat treats.
Aemond felt like the luckiest man on earth, and he couldn’t stop smiling as he reached the apartment he now shared with Billie.
But as he entered the apartment, his excitement turned to confusion as he found Billie standing in the living room, her expression tense and troubled. And then, to his shock, he noticed Alys standing beside her, her hand resting protectively on her swollen belly.
The loud sound of blades clashing against each other reverberated through the air. As soon as you block his swing, you jump back to prepare for the next blow. You adjust your grip on the handle, hoping it wouldn’t slip out due to the sweat.
Before you can finish catching your breath, Rafayel rushes forward, swinging his dagger up diagonally.
Your body tenses. Thankfully, your reflexes kick in time and you are able bring up your dagger to block the attack. But since you couldn’t get into the proper position, the force of the slash pushes you off balance on the sand and end up falling on your butt.
“Ah..,” you let out a soft yelp before looking up to see a dagger pointing at you. You glance back at the holder, making eye contact with burning purple eyes.
He spins the dagger, sheathing it, then holds out his hand.
“Let’s stop here for today,” He says. “A sandstorm approaches. We must return to our tent.”
You take his hand and get up. Handing him your dagger, you dust the sand off your pants and hands.
We start walking to the tent we had set up prior to the training session. Only the sound of sand shuffling beneath is heard, accompanying your thoughts about your bodyguard’s hidden past.
You look up to see him gazing over the horizon clearly in deep thought.
Your curiosity gets the better of you, and you speak up.
“I thought a skilled guard like you was invincible. Are you saying a sandstorm is enough to beat you?” You ask, teasingly.
“Huh? I’m not completely unaffected by the harsh environment” Rafayel responds.
Just as you are about to say another sassy remark, you watch as he walks closer to you. He stops right in front of you, leaning close enough you can see the pink highlights in his eyes.
“But a competent assassin can still fight despite the sand,” he whispers.
You blink a few times before looking down, unable to hold his strong gaze any longer. He steps back and you can almost see the smirk on his face. You clench your fists. If you had just kept eye contact a little longer, you would be the one smirking not him.
You give a little huff, stomping forward.
You feel Rafayel’s gaze on you, but you refuse to give in and turn around. After a few more steps, Rafayel grabs your wrist, pulling you to a stop.
He walks around to stand in front of you. This time you hold your head high, meeting his gaze straight on.
He tilts his head, giving a sly smile.
“Would Your Highness like to try? With your determination, let’s do it,” Rafayel proposes.
He unties one of the black ribbons tied to his arm, pulling it taut. As he walks closer, your heart skips a beat and feel yourself warm.
“Close your eyes and hold still,” He says softly.
You obediently listen to him. With your eyes now closed, your nerves are amplified.
His hot breath sweeps over your ears causing you to shiver. You hear him chuckle lightly. You bit your lip and resist the impulse of swinging at him.
You flinch when you feel something close to your face.
“It’s just the ribbon. Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle.” Rafayel assures you.
The smooth silk is cool over your heated skin. It slides over your eyelids and cheekbones before stopping in what seems to be the right place.
He carefully ties the ends behind your head, making sure not to get your hair in the knot.
Even after the ribbon is tied, you can still sense his warmth in front of you
“Now, Your Highness’s eyes are covered. How is it?” He asks.
With your eyes blindfolded, you are unable to read Rafayel’s face. You shift your weight and feel a little startled when the ground feels more unsteady than usual.
“It’s fine when I’m standing still, but I don’t know if I can move around like this. What if I..”
“Stay calm.” You hear him say.
Warm hands slowly hold your shoulders, comforting you.
“When sight cannot be relied on, the other senses must be utilized.” Rafayel advises.
He runs his hands down your arms, taking your hands in his. He gives a small squeeze before letting go.
You hear the sand shuffling in front of you and no longer sense Rafayel. He must have stepped away from you. You begin to feel more uncertain now that Rafayel isn’t there to support you.
“Try and catch me,” Rafayel says. And then, you hear nothing.
You stand in place, hesitating. How are you supposed to find him blindfolded?
Taking a deep breathe, you use your other senses like he told you to.
You feel the warm breeze along with the small pinpricks of occasional sand grains flying over you. The only sounds you can hear are those of sand swirling on the wind. Not knowing where to even go, you start walking in a random direction.
It takes a lot more concentration to walk on sand blindfolded. It felt like you would fall with one wrong step.
A noise to your right catches your attention. You change your direction towards it. After a few more careful steps, you hear more sand moving to your left. You spin around towards the new sound.
Then all of a sudden, there’s the sound of footsteps behind you.
You quickly turn around, trying to focus on pinpointing the exact location.
You begin to get frustrated, but take another breath to calm yourself.
You’re the one who asked Rafayel to train you so you could protect yourself better. You would follow through with it.
More footsteps are heard all over the place. Focusing in, you decide to take a leap of faith and begin confidently walking straight towards the last sound you heard, reaching your hands out to hopefully feel the rough cotton of Rafayel’s tunic.
After about 10 steps, the sounds disappear again, but this time you catch a light scent of the sea breeze that reminds you of home. You immediately turn around, swinging your arms in front of you.
Your hands hit something solid, causing you to lose your balance. You frantically move your hands trying to grab onto something to stabilize you.
You feel strong arms come around you as your hands grip the fabric of his shirt.
Rafayel moves his arm over your head as you both tumble to the ground, rolling twice down the dune. You feel yourself land on top of him, raising your head, wishing you could see if he was okay.
“Not bad… But it was only a matter of luck.” You hear him say below you.
You let out a sigh. Does he really have to say it like that?
You feel his abdominal muscles tense as he sits up. You shakily get off him, kneeling on the sand. Being unable to see and trying to be stable on shifting sand was not easy.
You feel his rough hand take yours as he helps you stand up. He dusts off the sand on your back as you shake your head, trying to get the sand out of your hair.
He laughs, clearly entertained at the sight.
“Instead of laughing, you could lend a hand,” you say.
“Apologies Your Highness, allow me to assist,” he says, before gently running his fingers through your hair, ridding it of any leftover sand.
“Alright, it’s gotten late. We should head inside now.” Rafayel says.
You expect him to untie the blindfold, but instead, you feel his hand entwine with yours.
“Are you not going to remove the ribbon?” you ask.
He chuckles, before saying, “Trust me, Your Highness. I will get you back safe and sound.”
Hand in hand, he leads you the rest of the way.
You hear the tent flap open as he leads you in. He lets go of your hand, and you hear what you suppose is him tying the entrance closed. You just stand in place, not wanting to trip over anything while blindfolded. You don’t remember if you both managed to clean up the place before going out to train.
Footsteps come up from behind you. You tense, unsure what would happen next.
Rafayel just takes your hand again, leading you further in the tent.
“Sit down,” he says. “Don’t remove the blindfold just yet,” he adds for good measure.
You let him guide you to sit on the bed. He lightly presses on your shoulder, telling you to move further back. The sheets ruffle from the movement.
You feel the bed dip down lower and assume Rafayel sat on it as well. Hearing the sheets rustle, you can tell Rafayel is getting closer. The movement stops once you feel his knee touch your thigh.
You suddenly feel his breath grazing your lips. Your caught between your desire to move forward to get a taste or backward to let yourself think more clearly. But before you can make your decision, you hear him speak.
“Even in darkness, one must be able to pinpoint an enemy’s vital points with ease,” Rafayel says.
He grabs your hand and places something cold in it. You grip the object. It’s smooth and relatively light. It seems the lesson was going to continue.
“With a weapon, only some strength is needed to wound the stomach.”
He must have handed you a dagger. Not knowing if it was sheathed or not, you carefully bring the hand with the weapon back to your side. Shifting your position so that you were kneeling before him, you hesitantly bring your other hand to lay over his body. Your breath catches in your throat as you feel his muscles ripple beneath your hand.
You have a fleeting thought of regret that there was fabric between your hand and his skin.
He said to wound the stomach, but you aren’t sure what part of him you’re touching.
“The chest?” Rafayel kindly gives you an answer.
You move your hand side to side trying to get your bearings. His chest was so wide you couldn’t tell if you were on the side or in the middle of it.
You hear him gasp and feel his muscles tense as you run your hands over a bump on his chest.
“Not there. Your Highness needs to go lower. It will be a fatal blow if you stab there.”
You reflexively tighten your grip, memories of Rafayel bleeding from his chest flooding your head.
“It ensures one’s victory.” He continues.
His warm hand covers yours, giving it a light squeeze before letting go, as if telling you to continue.
You slowly move your hand up, feeling the border of his tunic turn into smooth skin.
You hear him inhale deeply when your skins connect.
As if mesmerized, you forget the goal of the lesson and continue moving your hand up. Over his shoulders, his collarbone, and ending up over his adam’s apple.
You lightly feel his pulse beating beneath your hand. Telling you he is alive. No longer stuck between life and death due to your careless mistake. You mindlessly press your fingers further into his skin, hoping to feel his pulse more clearly.
“The throat is also a vulnerable area.”
His voice startles you. Realizing you might have put too much force in your grip, you loosen your hand but keep it hovering over his skin.
“Scared?” He asks.
You’re unable to say anything back. You try to fight any conjured up images of him being hurt.
Just as you try to think of something to distract yourself, you feel his hand cover yours once more.
“Never mind, Your Highness’s hand is slightly cold.” He says worryingly. He gently rubs his thumb on the back of your hand.
“Try to do what I just said.”
You let out a small breath, banishing the unnecessary thoughts. What were you supposed to find again? Right, the stomach.
You move your hand downward, going back over the rough fabric.
You hear him exhale right by your ear as you slide your hand further down. His muscles tense and untense, creating a rhythm with his breathes, following the trail of your gliding hand.
You get to a point where you can feel light grooves partitioning several muscles. You stop your hand, hesitating on your next move.
“It’s the correct spot, but Your Highness’s hand still hasn’t moved,” Rafayel says.
“An assassin wouldn’t be this slow.” He teases.
You rolled your eyes underneath the blindfolded. You adjust your grip on the dagger and move the hand a bit closer. But you still hesitate to make the final move.
Instead of bringing the dagger up, you move the hand on him, trying to find the best spot. However, you get lost in the feeling of his abdomen expanding with each breath.
Rafayel waits patiently and quietly, which is a first for him.
“Carelessness leads to an assassin’s death,” Rafayel says.
You clearly spoke too soon.
If that’s how he was going to play it, you decide to tease him back.
You move your hand to the side slowly. You feel the heat from his abdomen transfer to your palm. As you keep moving to the left, you start to feel a curve, stopping once your palm is at his hip.
“No, that is not it either,” He says, unaware of your purpose.
You give a coquettish squeeze, reveling in the movement of the muscles beneath.
Rafayel sighs loudly. You tense when you feel something tickle your ear. It’s almost feathery. His breathes are more clear as he has gotten closer to you.
You decide to get more bold and slide your hand back down
He gasps in your ear. Your desire to see more of his reactions builds your confidence, but before you can go any further, your playful touch is halted.
“Um… stop right there.” Rafayel grabs your hand tightly.
He chuckles, breathless.
“As a rookie, Your Highness’s courage is commendable.”
You can’t help but smirk at his remark.
“Yet does a simple blindfold excuse a person’s brazenness?” Rafayel says, his voice getting closer with every word, until he’s speaking right into your ear.
Startled, you move back to sit on the balls of your feet with your knees still on the bed.
“Your Highness didn’t do it on purpose?” he asks teasingly, still holding your hand in place.
“Of course not. All I did was listen to my teacher’s instructions,” you say innocently.
He lightly huffed in amusement.
“Your Highness’s acting is lackluster when it comes to being clueless,” Rafayel says.
He finally lets go of your hand allowing you to sit more comfortably.
You hear some shuffling on the bed, but can’t tell what Rafayel was doing.
You flinch when you suddenly feel a touch on your other hand. The dagger is taken away from you. He probably is putting it away.
You guess the “lesson” is over. But just when you’re about to ask for him to remove the blindfold, you hear him speak.
“It’s fine,” he says.
You tilt your head towards his voice. A hand comes up to your shoulder and before you realize what’s going on, you feel your back coming into contact with the bed.
The sheets rustle around you and you feel a presence over you.
“I forgot to mention. A good assassin must be able to counterattack.” Rafayel says laughing.
Shocked, you lie there for a second processing what just happened.
Then you start fighting back.
“Rafayel, you!”
You raise your hands and they immediately make contact with Rafayel’s chest. You put pressure on him hoping to take control of the situation.
He laughs as your weak attempts to push him off. Instead of getting off, he draws even closer.
“Is Your Highness prepared for the next lesson?” He whispers in your ear.
You swallow at his words, finding yourself heating up at the thought of what was to come next.
Part One: Assignment
Sat in your cluttered office, surrounded by towering stacks of research papers and half-empty coffee mugs. The soft hum of the fluorescent lights above was the only sound accompanying you as you focused intently on your computer screen, your sharp eyes scanning the latest data. Just as you began to lose yourself in the labyrinth of entomological charts and graphs, a gentle knock at the door disrupted your solitude.
"Come in," you called, your voice carrying a note of impatience.
The door creaked open, and Dr. Michael Bennett, the esteemed head of the entomology department and your mentor, stepped inside. His typically crisp, businesslike demeanor was tinged with an uncharacteristic glimmer of excitement. In his hand, he carried a thick manila envelope, the edges slightly crumpled from the journey.
He placed the envelope on your desk with a flourish, the muted thud of paper against wood breaking the quiet. "Good morning," he began, his eyes sparkling with barely contained enthusiasm. "I’ve got something special for you."
You tilted your head, curiosity piqued. “Special? Do tell.”
Dr. Bennett eased into the chair across from you, leaning forward slightly as if to share a secret. “You’ve been selected for a new research project—one that will take you to Italy.”
Your eyes widened, reflecting a mix of surprise and delight. “Italy? As in, the Italy with the pasta, the art, and—?”
“Yes, that Italy,” he confirmed, his grin widening. “But it’s not just any location. You’ll be heading to a quaint village near Naples. Your focus will be on a particularly elusive insect known as the lacewing. It’s a species not commonly found in Europe, which makes it an exciting subject for study.”
A flutter of exhilaration danced in your chest. “Lacewing? I’ve read about them in journals, but I never imagined I’d get to study them. Though it is strange that they are located there aren't they typically a Northern American insect, not to mention basically wiped off the face of the Earth?”
Dr. Bennett’s expression grew more animated. “Precisely. This is a rare chance to contribute to our understanding of a species that has been largely overlooked. The unique ecosystems around Naples provide an ideal setting for observing these insects in their natural environment. You’re on the brink of a groundbreaking study.”
Your mind raced with the possibilities. Italy’s sun-drenched landscapes, the promise of discovering a rare insect, and the thrill of venturing into uncharted scientific territory—it was a dream come true.
“Thank you, Dr. Bennett,” you said, your voice trembling with a mix of gratitude and excitement. “This is incredible.”
He rose from his seat, offering a supportive pat on the shoulder. “I knew you’d be thrilled. Start preparing; you’ll be flying out in a few weeks. And remember, this could be a significant breakthrough. Make the most of it.” As he turned around to walk away he stops and turns back around to you. Your eyes glance back up to him and raise an eyebrow.
‘I also failed to mention that you will have three other researchers with you, so play nice.” As Dr. Bennett left the room, you stared at the manila envelope on your desk. It seemed almost to hum with potential, a tangible symbol of the new chapter about to unfold in your life. The thought of embarking on this adventure to study the lacewing in the enchanting surroundings of Naples filled you with an electric sense of anticipation.
A few weeks later, you and three other researchers touched down in Italy. The plane’s wheels touched down with a gentle thud on the tarmac at Naples International Airport. The early afternoon sun bathed the landscape in a warm, golden hue, and you could already feel the excitement bubbling within you.
The four of you gathered your belongings and navigated through the bustling airport, the aroma of fresh espresso and pastries filling the air. The group comprised Lee Seokmin, a tall Korean researcher with dark hair and an ever-present, disarming smile. He had a way of making everything seem effortlessly friendly, even in the most stressful situations. Azail Michaels, on the other hand, was a tall, lanky figure whose baby face belied an air of quiet intensity. His reserved demeanor made him seem as though he was guarding some personal mystery. Lastly, there was Lucy Appleton, a shorter woman in her 40s with a relaxed demeanor and a quiet intensity about her work. Her laid-back attitude seemed to contrast with her meticulous approach to research.
“Welcome to Italy!” Lee Seokmin said, his voice brimming with enthusiasm as he clapped you on the back. “Can you believe we’re finally here?”
“Not quite yet,” you replied with a grin, scanning the lively scene around you. “But it’s starting to sink in.”
Azail, who had been quietly observing the surroundings, adjusted his glasses and cleared his throat. “Let’s not get too distracted. We have a lot of work ahead of us.”
Then Lucy who was busy checking the details of your itinerary, looked up and gave the group a reassuring smile. “Relax, Azail. We’ve got plenty of time to get to work. For now, let’s just enjoy the journey. We’re in one of the most beautiful places in the world.”
With your luggage in tow, the group made its way to the rental van. The drive through the Italian countryside was picturesque, with rolling hills and vineyards stretching out under the clear blue sky. As you neared the small village near Naples where you would be based for the next few weeks, the landscape became more rustic and charming.
Once you arrived at your accommodations, a quaint bed-and-breakfast nestled among olive groves, you were greeted by the warm hospitality of the host, who provided a brief orientation. The place had an inviting, homey atmosphere, with a cozy garden and views of the surrounding countryside.
“You’ve all got your rooms ready,” the host said with a smile. “Feel free to settle in and get comfortable. Dinner will be served around seven.”
After a quick unpacking session, you and your team gathered in the common area, sharing a relaxed moment before diving into the research ahead. Lee Seokmin was already chatting animatedly about his plans to explore the local cuisine, while Lucy was making notes about the schedule and tasks for the next few days.
Azail, having found a quiet corner, was absorbed in examining a map of the region, his thoughtful expression revealing a deeper level of concentration. You could tell that, despite his reserved nature, he was deeply committed to the project.
“You think we’ll find anything unusual?” Seokmin asked, breaking the comfortable silence.
“I hope so,” you replied, feeling the weight of anticipation. “This is a rare opportunity. I’m eager to see what we can uncover about the lacewings.”
Lucy nodded in agreement. “And let’s not forget to enjoy the process. We’re here to make discoveries, but we should also savor the experience. Italy has so much to offer.”
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the village, you felt a sense of optimism. With a dedicated team and a beautiful setting, the journey ahead promised to be both challenging and rewarding.
After excusing yourself to bed, you slipped quietly back into the bed-and-breakfast. The tranquil night was a stark contrast to the earlier excitement, and the comforting warmth of your room welcomed you as you entered.
The bedroom was a serene haven, softly illuminated by the warm, amber glow of a bedside lamp. The walls were painted in a soothing, muted cream, and the wooden floorboards were covered with an intricate, hand-woven rug that added a touch of coziness. A gentle, floral scent lingered in the air, blending with the faint aroma of the earth from the gardens outside.
The centerpiece of the room was a large, inviting bed with a sturdy, wooden frame. The bed was adorned with a soft, deep blue duvet that had a subtle sheen, hinting at its plushness. The pillows were arranged neatly, their crisp covers offering a promise of comfort. The bed was flanked by two wooden nightstands, each holding a simple, elegant lamp with a soft, gold shade that cast a gentle, ambient light.
Opposite the bed, a wide window framed a view of the moonlit garden. The window was adorned with thick, velvet drapes that could be drawn for privacy but were currently pulled back, allowing the cool, silver light of the moon to spill into the room. The gentle breeze rustling through the sheer curtains added a sense of tranquility.
A small armchair sat by the window, upholstered in a soft, patterned fabric. It was a cozy spot that invited you to sit and relax, but tonight, you were drawn to the comfort of the bed. Nearby, an antique wooden dresser with brass handles held a few personal items and framed photographs, adding a touch of personal warmth to the room.
You moved to the bed and pulled back the covers, feeling the cool, inviting texture of the sheets. Slipping under the duvet, the warmth quickly enveloped you, contrasting with the chill of the night air that lingered on your skin. The bed was soft and cradling, and the gentle hum of the house settling around you created a soothing backdrop.
You positioned yourself comfortably, nestling into the plush pillows. The soft, rhythmic sound of your breathing, coupled with the occasional rustle of the curtains, created a calming, almost hypnotic atmosphere. Your mind began to quiet, the day's activities and the remnants of the dream fading into a distant haze.
As you closed your eyes, the peacefulness of the room wrapped around you like a gentle embrace. The soft light and the comforting warmth of the bed lulled you deeper into relaxation. Gradually, the world outside faded away, and you surrendered to the soothing pull of sleep, your body sinking into the mattress as the last threads of wakefulness slipped away.
As you drifted into a deep sleep, the serene ambiance of your room enveloped you, and the boundary between wakefulness and dreams began to blur. The peaceful darkness of your bedroom was soon replaced by the vivid landscape of a dream that unfolded with the intensity of a midsummer night.
The sky was ablaze with hues of amber and violet as you stepped onto the soft, sun-warmed sand of the beach. The golden light of the setting sun kissed the waves, transforming them into a shimmering tapestry of liquid gold. Each step you took felt like a soft whisper against your skin, the warmth of the sand sinking into your toes, creating a sensation of perfect tranquility.
The distant sound of the ocean was soothing, but it was the melody that captivated you—a hauntingly beautiful song drifting through the twilight. It seemed to rise and fall with the rhythm of the waves, weaving an enchanting tale that promised secrets and stories hidden in the fading light. You felt the magic of the moment enveloping you, the song beckoning you towards the water.
Compelled by the melody, you ventured closer to the shoreline. The cold nipped at your toes as you crouched down to dip your fingertips into the water. The sensation was both startling and alluring. As you pushed your fingers deeper into the mud-like sand, something caught your gaze—a movement in the deep liquid in front of you. You squinted, trying to make out what you had seen, and briefly glimpsed a pair of sharp, watching eyes. You blinked, unsure if this was a figment of your imagination or something more.
"Join me," a voice whispered through the twilight, its tone both alluring and urgent. It was a haunting melody carried by the evening breeze, seductive and mesmerizing. The voice wove through the air like a silken thread, its lilt rising and falling with the rhythm of the waves. As you listened, the call seemed to pulse with a hidden promise, drawing you deeper into the dream's embrace.
Rising to your feet, you began to step into the water. The sand shifted beneath your feet, warming them briefly before the cold of the ocean settled deep into your bones. The waves lapped around your ankles, and you felt a chill run up your spine. Despite the chill, the pull of the melody was irresistible.
“Y/N!” The voice cut through the enchanting melody like a lifeline, sharp and insistent. The familiar sound yanked you back from the edge of the water, pulling you away from the haunting song that promised mystery and danger. The clear, commanding tone reminded you of reality, urging you to turn away and step back onto solid ground.
You glanced back over your shoulder into the water, where you had once seen those piercing eyes. Now, all you saw were the undulating waves, reflecting the fading light of the sunset. The alluring song had faded to a distant echo, its spell lingering but no longer as potent.
“Coming,” you murmured, your voice soft and distant, as if still wrapped in the remnants of the dream. Though you turned away from the water’s edge, each step felt heavy and slow, as if you were dragging yourself from a deep trance. The dream’s enchantment clung to you, making the world around you blur and waver, reluctant to fully return to the comforting reality of your bed.
As you continued to walk, the dream’s spell slowly released its hold, the last echoes of the melody fading into the background. The boundary between the dreamscape and the waking world grew clearer, but the lingering sense of mystery and the haunting melody stayed with you as you gradually returned to consciousness.
The dream had left you restless, and as you slowly emerged from sleep, you found yourself wrapped in a disorienting haze. The remnants of the haunting melody still echoed faintly in your mind, and the serene stillness of the night seemed almost too quiet in comparison. The soft rustling of the olive trees outside your window and the occasional chirp of a cicada were the only sounds breaking the silence.
You sat up in bed, your heart racing with a blend of curiosity and unease. The dream had felt so real, so urgent, and the remnants of its allure clung to you like a whisper from another world. The familiar surroundings of your bedroom felt oddly distant as you rubbed your eyes, struggling to shake off the lingering effects of the dream.
With a mix of apprehension and determination, you quietly slipped out of bed. The cool night air, seeping through the open window, kissed your skin and invigorated your senses. You pulled on a light jacket, the fabric feeling reassuringly familiar against the chill of the night. You crept through the house, each creak of the floorboards beneath your feet adding to the tension that had built up inside you.
The moon cast a silvery glow over the landscape as you stepped outside, the darkness pierced only by the soft light of the moon. The path leading from the bed-and-breakfast to the beach was bathed in a shimmering silver light, and you followed it with a sense of both trepidation and resolve. The path was quiet and undisturbed, lined with the occasional whispering olive tree that seemed to sway gently in the breeze.
When you reached the beach, the scene was eerily tranquil. The gentle lapping of the waves against the shore was the only sound, a soothing counterpoint to the haunting melody still echoing in your mind. You stood at the edge of the water, the sand cool and slightly gritty beneath your feet. The ocean stretched out before you like a vast, undulating expanse of darkness, its surface reflecting the pale light of the moon.
You hesitated, the coolness of the water contrasting sharply with the warmth of the sand. The sensation of the waves brushing against your toes sent a shiver up your spine, and the cold seemed to reach deep into your bones. The memory of the sharp eyes you had glimpsed in the dream flashed before you, adding to your growing sense of unease.
Just then, the whisper of the dream echoed through your mind again: “Join me.” The voice was softer now, almost like a distant murmur, but it still held an alluring quality that was difficult to ignore. The pull was almost irresistible, drawing you further into the water with an almost magnetic force.
You took another step forward, the water lapping around your ankles and seeping through your shoes. You crouched down, the water rising to your knees as you dipped your fingers into the cool, liquid embrace. The sensation was both thrilling and unsettling, the contrast between the cold water and the warm, dreamlike allure creating a bizarre, hypnotic effect.
As you pushed your fingers deeper into the sand, a cloud of fine particles stirred up, and you caught a fleeting glimpse of something shifting beneath the surface—a glint of something that seemed almost too deliberate to be a trick of the light.
The dream’s whisper, now more insistent, filled your ears: “Join me.” The voice was clearer, more urgent, and it sliced through the dreamlike state, yanking you back to reality with a jolt. You blinked, your vision clearing as the enchanting melody faded away like mist. The beach was quiet and empty, the dream’s mystique replaced by the calm, familiar surroundings of your temporary home.
The sound of footsteps approaching from the path drew your attention, and you stood up, reluctantly leaving the water. The cold had seeped into your bones, and each step away from the shore felt like a battle against the lingering pull of the dream. The disorienting feeling of being torn between two realities clung to you, making your return to the waking world feel heavy and slow.
As you turned back to look at the water one last time, the waves were undisturbed, and the eerie sense of being observed was gone. The beach was now a tranquil, ordinary place, and the dream’s allure had dissipated with the night’s chill.
The footsteps grew louder, and Lee Seokmin soon appeared, his face a mask of concern, looking at him you stared for a moment as the wind whipped his hair against his forehead. “Y/N, what are you doing out here?”
You shook your head, trying to dispel the remnants of the dream. “I couldn’t sleep. I just needed some fresh air.”
Seokmin looked at you with a mixture of relief and curiosity. “It’s freezing out here. Let’s get you back inside.”
As you followed him back to the bed-and-breakfast, the last echoes of the dream’s melody seemed to fade away. Yet, the sense of mystery and the haunting allure of the night remained, leaving you with an unsettling feeling that something more awaited you in the depths of the Italian night.
Seokmin Point Of View
Seokmin leaned against the doorframe of his cramped office, the soft hum of the air conditioner providing a steady backdrop to the quiet, late afternoon. The cluttered desk was strewn with research papers, equipment specs, and a half-eaten sandwich. He rubbed his eyes, trying to shake off the fatigue from the day's work, when his phone buzzed with an incoming message. The notification drew his attention, and he opened it with a weary swipe.
The email from the research coordinator detailed their next project assignment—a field study on the elusive lacewing in the coastal region near Naples. Seokmin’s eyes narrowed as he read through the message. The project promised to push them into less charted territories—both scientifically and perhaps in ways he hadn’t fully anticipated.
He leaned back in his chair, his gaze drifting to a weathered map pinned to the corkboard on his wall. It showed the southern coast of Italy in intricate detail, with the area near Naples marked with a small red pin. His finger traced the coastline, lingering on the narrow stretch of water that seemed to beckon with an almost magnetic pull. It was a familiar sensation, one he couldn’t quite place but had always felt when near certain waters.
A fleeting memory surfaced—an old conversation with a local fisherman during a past expedition. The fisherman had spoken with a tone heavy with caution. “The waters around there... they’re known for more than just fish,” he had said, glancing over his shoulder as though afraid the sea itself might eavesdrop.
Seokmin had dismissed it as local superstition at the time, but now, as he considered the project’s location, the memory took on a new significance. The fisherman’s cryptic words lingered in his thoughts, intertwining with the legends of sailors encountering strange and mythical creatures. He recalled the tales of sirens—their songs that could lure sailors to their doom, their presence a haunting echo in the depths. The stories had always seemed like mere myths, but they resonated with a strange familiarity.
He sighed and shook his head, brushing aside the unease that crept up on him. There was no room for such distractions. The reality of the project required focus, and he quickly composed a response to the email, finalizing logistics and making sure the team was well-prepared. As he sent the message, he couldn’t help but glance out of the window at the darkening sky, a subtle shiver running down his spine.
The upcoming weeks promised adventure, and he was certain the research would be challenging. Yet, deep down, a part of him felt an almost personal connection to the project’s location. As if, in some inexplicable way, the tides and the legends called to him in a language only he could understand.
He prepared for the journey with a sense of quiet anticipation. There was an old, forgotten part of him that felt a strange kinship with the sea, a sense that the waters near Naples held more than just insects waiting to be studied. And while he hoped the legends remained merely stories, a small, hidden part of him couldn’t ignore the possibility that the myth and reality were more intertwined than anyone might suspect.
As he packed his bags, the distant sound of waves crashing against the shore seemed to hum with a familiar resonance in the back of his mind. It was a sound that stirred something deep within him, a reminder of an ancient allure he could neither fully embrace nor completely escape.
Seokmin moved quietly through the dimly lit house, careful not to disturb the silence that had settled over the sleeping quarters. The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silvery glow across the landscape as he made his way down the narrow path from the bed-and-breakfast to the beach. The night air was cool and carried the faint, salty tang of the sea, heightening the sense of anticipation and unease that lingered in his mind.
As he approached the shore, Seokmin’s ears caught a faint, melodious humming drifting on the breeze. It was a sound so gentle and haunting that it seemed almost otherworldly. His heartbeat quickened as he followed the melody, the sound growing clearer and more compelling with each step he took.
Reaching the water’s edge, Seokmin’s breath caught in his throat. There, standing by the water, was Y/N. Her figure was barely illuminated by the moonlight, her movements fluid and graceful as if she were in a trance. The sight was both mesmerizing and deeply unsettling.
A wave of panic surged through Seokmin, but he forced himself to maintain a calm exterior. His mind raced with questions. *What is she doing here at this hour? Is she in danger?* The dream he had had, the fisherman’s cryptic warning—all of it seemed to converge on this very moment. The almost magnetic pull of the scene was disquieting.
Seokmin took a deep breath and forced himself to approach cautiously. He needed to intervene without startling her or making the situation worse. His footsteps were soft on the sand as he moved closer, each step measured to avoid drawing her attention abruptly.
The melody continued to weave through the night air, soothing yet ominous. The sight of Y/N, entranced by the water, made Seokmin’s stomach churn. Is she hearing the same thing I did?. The thought made his pulse quicken.
Reaching a safe distance, Seokmin observed her intently. Her eyes were fixed on the water, her expression one of serene focus, as though she were communicating with something beyond normal perception. The allure of the water, combined with her trance-like state, made him uneasy.
*Stay calm. Don’t let her see you’re worried. She’s just caught up in the moment. There has to be a rational explanation for this,* he thought, though the legends and warnings he had heard seemed to loom over the scene like a dark cloud. The melody seemed to underscore the tension between myth and reality, heightening his sense of urgency.
Seokmin approached her with deliberate steps, his voice steady but soft. “Y/N,” he called out, hoping to break through the trance without startling her. “What are you doing here?”
As he spoke, he saw her startle slightly, her gaze shifting as if emerging from a deep, dreamlike state. Seokmin hoped his calm demeanor would guide her back to reality, away from whatever had so completely captivated her.
In the back of his mind, the haunting melody lingered, a persistent reminder of the thin line between legend and reality. Seokmin’s resolve hardened. Whatever had drawn Y/N to the water needed to be understood, and the growing sense of urgency only deepened his determination to protect her from any unseen dangers.
As Seokmin approached Y/N, his heart pounded in his chest, a mix of concern and an odd sense of duty driving his actions. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her gently away from the water’s edge. His touch was meant to be comforting, a reassurance to guide her back from the trance-like state she seemed trapped in. Yet, as he guided her, his gaze flicked back towards the water, drawn by an unsettling sensation.
The moonlight cast a pale glow over the ocean’s surface, and Seokmin’s eyes widened as he saw it—a figure rising slowly from the water. The being was barely discernible, a shadowy form that seemed to shimmer with an eerie, otherworldly light. There was no mistaking the anger that radiated from it, a palpable wave of resentment that seemed to ripple through the air. The figure’s presence was charged with an intensity that made Seokmin’s skin crawl.
His breath hitched, and an involuntary shiver ran through him. A familiar sensation began to stir within him, a deep, primal instinct that he had tried to suppress. Seokmin’s vision blurred for a moment, the world shifting as his eyes flickered. For a brief instant, his gaze was no longer human—his pupils narrowed, a strange, luminous glow casting an ethereal light. The siren within him stirred, sensing the challenge from the creature in the water.
Seokmin tried to rein in the transformation, but it was a struggle. The sharpness of his senses heightened, and he could feel the shift in his own nature—a stark contrast to the calm façade he maintained for Y/N. He could feel the intensity of his gaze locking with the figure in the water, a silent exchange of hostility that left him feeling vulnerable yet defiant. The anger from the figure was unmistakable; it was as if it knew Seokmin had disrupted a delicate balance, an unwelcome intrusion into its domain.
Y/N was oblivious to the silent confrontation taking place just beyond the water’s edge. Her attention remained focused on the reassuring presence of Seokmin beside her, her face still tinged with the remnants of her trance. Seokmin’s grip on her shoulder was gentle yet firm, a steady anchor pulling her back to reality. His other hand clenched slightly, the tension in his muscles betraying the struggle to keep his siren nature in check.
He dared not look back at the water again, afraid that the intensity of his gaze might provoke the creature further. Instead, he guided Y/N away with careful steps, trying to ignore the surge of anger and resentment that seemed to follow them from the ocean.
“Y/N,” he said softly, his voice steady despite the turmoil within him. “Let’s get back inside. It’s too cold out here.”
As they moved away from the water, Seokmin felt the pressure in his chest ease slightly. The figure in the water seemed to recede, its presence growing fainter with each step he took. The siren’s eyes—his own eyes—slowly returned to their normal state, the glow fading as he forced himself to regain control.
The night air was still, the melodious humming now a distant echo as Seokmin focused on leading Y/N safely back to the bed-and-breakfast. The encounter had left him unsettled, a reminder of the thin veil separating the world of legends from reality. And as he glanced back one last time, the ocean was calm once more, but the lingering sense of unease made it clear that the mysteries of the night were far from over.
Could I request Blue Exorcist Lucifer x female half angel half human reader nsfw fic where it's her first time. If that makes sense? Please and thank you!
I hope this is okay <3
It's a lot longer than I had initially imagined it would be, almost 1000 words longer lol
Lucifer x OC written with @birdgirl98's OC
“Thank you for having me for dinner,” you say with a warm smile at your dear friend across the long table. “I’ve invited you here tonight to share something important with you,” Lucifer reveals as he rises to his feet. “Would you please join me?” He approaches you, extending his hand. You blink in surprise; you hadn’t been expecting much more than a meal. “Of course.” You stand, straightening your dress before you accept his warm hand and let him lead you through the hallways.
You’re surprised to be in a new part of the building, towards a room with large doors. He opens the door, motioning for you to enter. “Please.”
The room is pleasant, yet it appears less lived than expected. Instead, it showcases an almost pristine, untouched quality, contrasting with its remarkable design. To your right, there's a black sofa accompanied by a small coffee table, while a large bed lies to your left, dressed in black silk sheets and a matching comforter. “Lucifer, is this your room?” You question, gazing around the room.
“Yes, though it’s less often used.” He admits. “Recently, my vessel has improved greatly. I’ll be able to sleep here, at least for the next week.”
The air in the room feels charged with a tension you can't quite place, but you trust Lucifer and his intentions. He moves closer to you, his presence comforting.
"I have something to tell you," Lucifer starts, his voice soft yet captivating. "It's something I've concealed for far too long." He locks eyes with you, his gaze both intense and probing. Your heart pounds as you ponder what secrets he might disclose.
Lucifer tenderly cups your face, sending shivers down your spine. "I've always admired you, Irena," he whispers, his thumb gliding over your cheek. "Your kindness and strength attract me in ways I struggle to define."
You're stunned by his words, the confession leaving you breathless. “What?”
He watches your confused expression and smiles gently. He waits quietly while his words resonate with you, seeing each thought connect. “I love you,” he confesses. Before you can reply, Lucifer steps closer, softly kissing you. His warm lips against yours convey genuine feelings. In that instant, it feels as though the entire world disappears, leaving just the two of you.
As the kiss intensifies, a surge of emotions floods through you. Confusion, desire, and affection mix in a whirlwind of feelings. Lucifer's arms embrace you, drawing you nearer, and you instinctively reciprocate his kiss with just as much passion.
As you finally pull away, you are breathless, gazing into each other's eyes. His confession lingers in the air, yet you feel an overwhelming sense of correctness instead of fear or uncertainty, as if this moment was destined to unfold all along.
"Irena," Lucifer whispers, his voice barely above a murmur. "I understand if this is too much for you. But I couldn't keep these feelings hidden any longer."
“No, no. Lucifer, I love you too,” you whisper, grasping his hands. “I’ve always loved you; I just—” You hesitate, at a loss for words. You had never anticipated this moment, and hearing him express his feelings is unexpectedly overwhelming.
The demon king lowers his head, pressing his warm lips against your skin. “Irena, would you allow me to show you how deeply I love you? I struggle with this vessel, but it’s healthy enough now. However, if you'd rather wait, my love, I fully understand.” He encircles your waist, drawing you nearer, showering your neck with gentle kisses as he patiently waits for his words to catch up to you again.
“What do you mean?”
The thought that you could be misinterpreting his words occurs to you. You hesitate to agree; what if you’re not grasping what he truly desires?
“You want me to say it aloud?” He chuckles softly, a soothing sound that eases the tension swirling around you. He lifts his head to meet your gaze, his eyes filled with adoration and desire.
"Irena, my love," he begins, his voice deep and resonant. "I want to show you how much you mean to me in every way possible. I want to explore this connection between us in a physical sense if you're willing."
With a shaky breath, you give a slight nod. “Irena, I need a verbal answer.” His request blends teasing and respect for you, as he wants to hear it said out loud. "I... I want that too, Lucifer,” you finally whisper, your voice barely audible. Meeting his intense gaze, you feel the air charged with anticipation, emotions swirling in your cerulean eyes. Lucifer's expression softens, kissing your forehead gently; his touch radiates warmth and reassurance.
He silently guides you to the bed draped in black silk, his actions both intentional and gentle. As you sit beside him, your heart pounds in your chest.
Lucifer’s fingers glide along your jaw, his touch igniting shivers down your spine. His intense gaze holds yours captive, filled with hunger, as he slowly leans in, closing the distance between you. When his lips finally meet yours, it’s as if the world around you fades away, enveloping you in the warmth of a deeply passionate kiss.
As the kiss intensifies, Lucifer gently lays you on the bed, leaning over you while his hand caresses your body with tender touches. He withdraws momentarily, his right hand resting on your thigh. “Is this alright?” he whispers softly, gradually moving his hand downward until it reaches the hem of your dress. “Yes.” Upon hearing your confirmation, he gradually slides his hand beneath the dress, making gentle circles on your thighs as he moves his hand higher. His lips meet yours again, softly tracing your lower lip with his tongue, drawing your attention away from him and raising the dress to your hips. His hands rest on your bare waist beneath the dress. You moan softly as his warm tongue intertwines with yours. Raising your hands, you weave your fingers into his hair, drawing him closer as the kiss deepens.
He places four fingers on your skin, using his thumbs to hook, and slowly lifts the dress upward. Lucifer stops when the dress sits just below your breasts, pulling away to look into your eyes, quietly asking for permission once more. Slowly, you lift your upper body, your fingers grazing the dress's fabric to tug it over your head. You don’t give him time to observe your body; you pull him back into a kiss, your lips meeting his with urgency as you lay back down. His warm hands slip behind your back, gently lifting your body so he can reach around and unclip the bra.
Lucifer slowly ends the kiss but remains close. He presses his lips softly against your jaw, planting delicate kisses. His hands trace the shape of your breast, yet he keeps his eyes from wondering, waiting patiently for you to become comfortable being bare beneath him.
You gently push him back; he respectfully keeps eye contact with him. “I think you might be a tad bit overdressed.” You joke, cupping his face gently. He smiles. “Maybe a bit. Though, it could be argued you’re still overdressed yourself.” You cross your arms over your chest while slowly sitting up. “Nowhere near as overdressed as you, though.” You reply, eyeing his eye military jacket. “Of course.” He agrees, removing the clothing, the coat, and the button-up under it.
Once removed, you extend your right hand, lightly tracing his chest. “You really are better.” The last time you saw him like this, he had just awakened after sleeping the entire day; he had called for you, wearing only a jacket with something draped over his lap. Numerous wires were connected to him. “I hope you don’t mind; I just needed to see you,” he had explained himself at that time. “For now. This vessel should be healthy for a week.”
You nod, lowering one arm from your chest and putting both hands on the front of his belt. Lucifer leans in, pressing his mouth against yours as he gently pushes you back to lie on the bed; his hands cradle your breasts, gently running small circles over your nipples with his thumbs. As you moan into his mouth, he uses his index finger and thumb to pinch your right nipple gently. “My love, you’re so sensitive.” His belt is forgotten by you as you grasp his waist.
He lowers his head to your left breast, bringing it into his mouth as he reaches to undo his belt himself. You squirm at the feeling of his tongue rolling over your nipple; you hadn’t realized it would feel this good. You tangle your fingers into his hair, pulling the demon closer. He focuses on your other breast as he kicks off his pants. “Irene.” He lifts himself to his knees. “Will you let me continue? Allow me to taste every part of you?”
As he speaks, you subconsciously cross your legs, and he scans your body until his gaze lands on your white underwear. His eyes focused on you as he runs his tongue along his bottom lip. He feels like a starving man.
“Yes, Lucifer,” you whisper as his fingers run along the scars on your legs. “Please, do as you wish.”
He pulls you closer, gently removing your underwear before lifting your legs onto his shoulders. He places gentle kisses up your leg until he is almost lying on the bed with his hot breath on your most intimate area.
Lucifer's hands gently part your legs more, giving his better access to you, his touch feather-light as he prepares you for his eager mouth. You gasp as he runs his tongue along your slit, tasting you for the first time. It’s a feeling you’ve never experienced, and you hadn’t anticipated the jolt of pleasure that would run through you with just one swipe of his tongue.
“W-what was that?”
“My love, surely you know.”
“I know! I know, it’s just never felt like that.” You gasp, nearly breathless from that one action.
He sits up slightly, replacing his mouth with his thumb, running small circles over it, watching you squirm under him. “Never felt like that with who?” He knows you’re an adult, and it shouldn’t matter, but if you’re going to mention it while in his bed. He wants to know.
“Me, Lucifer.” Is it normal for a partner to make you feel this much better than you can do for yourself?
His eyes widen in surprise, though a pleased look quickly replaces it. “So, it’ll only be me.” He whispers. He’ll be the only one that’s able to ever touch you like this. Love you like this. Lucifer lowers his head again, wrapping his lips around your clit before gently sucking. It’s almost overwhelming, the pleasure that washes over you; Lucifer forcefully holds you to keep you from jumping away. You switch the grip from the sheets to his hair, tugging him closer as he runs his tongue around your clit before moving lower, probing at your entrance with his tongue. The sounds he’s making as he devours you are wet and sloppy, almost seeming like a starving man.
A tightness in your abdomen has you moaning his name loudly, pulling him as close as possible while crossing your ankles. ”Please, Lucifer.” You beg the king, needing a release. When he swirls his tongue around your clit again, you come undone, releasing all over his face. When your legs relax, threatening to pull away, he wraps his hands around your thighs, refusing to allow you to move until he’s cleaned you.
Lucifer gently lifts your legs off his shoulders and kisses your inner thighs tenderly, moving up to your hips as he helps you lie back on the bed. His eyes meet yours, filled with love and concern.
"Are you alright?" he asks softly, brushing a lock of hair from your forehead. You nod, still catching your breath, a blissful smile on your lips.
"I...I've never felt like that before," you manage to say, almost in awe of the experience. Lucifer smiles.
"That's because it's never happened before," he says. "And it will only happen between us." He leans in close to you, his breath warm against your skin as he whispers into your ear, "I'm honored that I can give you this kind of pleasure, Irena. It's a privilege I don't take lightly."
You stare into his beautiful emerald eyes, barely noticing him slowly removing his boxers, revealing his impressive length. Your breath hitches at the sight of him, and a shiver runs down your spine when he brushes against your thigh. “Lucifer?” You push him away a bit to observe his body better. It’s the first time you’ve seen a man intimately, and you can’t help but feel a little curious.
He notices your nervousness and gently takes your hand, placing it on his lower abdomen. “Do not be afraid, my love,” he says softly. You relax a bit at his words.
“May I?” You ask tentatively, looking up at him for permission. Lucifer's tail thumps gently on the bed as he nods, and you take him in your hand.
He groans at the contact, closing his eyes and leaning his head back as you start to move your hand up and down his length. “So soft.” You murmur to yourself, surprised by the soft texture and warmth.
“Soft?” Lucifer raises a brow.
“You know what I mean.” You gently squeeze.
Lucifer watches you with darkened eyes as you pleasure him, relishing in the sight of you taking control. He can feel himself getting closer to release with each stroke of your hand. But that’s not what he wants. This vessel is weak, and he doesn’t want to risk not being able to continue with your pleasure.
With a growl, Lucifer flips the two of you over, so he is on top. His lips crash onto yours again as he presses himself against your entrance.
“Are you sure about this?” He asks breathlessly between kisses. You nod eagerly, wanting nothing more than for him to be inside of you.
Lucifer pushes into you inch by inch until he is fully sheathed inside of your tight heat. “Are you okay?” He whispers, steeling himself not to move until you’re comfortable. He observes you, checking for any signs you might need to stop. “Lucifer.” You wrap your legs around his waist, pulling him closer. He picks up speed, though he is careful and conscious of his movements. “Please, can you?” You stop yourself, unsure how much his vessel can handle. You don’t want to make him feel guilty if he’s unable to perform faster.
Lucifer quickly realizes what you want to say and answers your partial question by kissing down your neck while increasing his pace. The room is filled with sounds of skin slapping, and you have to keep yourself from digging your nails in his back when he hits a sensitive spot that nearly has you seeing stars. Your back arches, and you call out his name. Lucifer angles himself more carefully, focusing on the spot inside you that only he’ll be able to touch. He moves his thumb to your clit, making small circles that have your toes curling, and the knot in your stomach feels much tighter than before. “Please, I’m going to. “
“Go ahead,” he whispers, his breath hot against your lips. His mouth covers yours as you surrender to the pleasure coursing through your body. With each thrust, he groans deeply, his movements becoming more urgent and intense.
You moan as you tighten around him, your wall clenching as your climax hits you hard. You grasp the back of his head, pulling him closer while lifting your hips at the feeling.
As your muscles relax, his movements become more frantic, desperate for release. He gasps for air beside your ear. “Do you want me to pull out?” he asks, his voice strained with desire and need.
“Do you want to?” you ask in return, a hint of playfulness in your tone.
He looks at you with intensity, his eyes searching for an answer. “Answer me, or I will pull out,” he warns, his voice low and commanding.
Without hesitation, you wrap your legs tightly around him, pulling him closer. “Don’t,” you whisper urgently, conveying both your desire and need for him to stay inside of you.
Lucifer lets out a guttural groan as he finds his own release, his hot seed filling you completely.
He peppers kisses along your neck and collarbone before pulling out of you gently. He collapses beside you, wrapping an arm around your waist to pull you closer. His tail also wraps around you, gently brushing against your lower back.
“I didn’t hurt you, did I?” he asks softly, concern etched on his face as he looks down at you.
You smile up at him, still in a blissful post-orgasmic haze. “No, not at all,” you assure him before snuggling into his chest.
He returns your smile before leaning down to capture your lips in a gentle kiss. Its tenderness causes your heart to swell with emotion for this man who has captured it completely.
“Stay with me tonight,” Lucifer requests when he pulls away from the kiss, his eyes searching yours.
“Of course,” you reply without hesitation.
Tiny Spark, Mighty Flame
Sterek || eventual Alpha Werewolf Stiles [ao3]
Among born werewolves, it was common knowledge that the prime age for a human to endure the bite of an Alpha and survive was typically during their teenage or young adult years. In fact, the youngest recorded case of a bite resulting in a transformation and not death was previously eleven years old, so imagine the Hale pack’s astonishment when they learned of a small seven year old who was bitten and miraculously survived, challenging the known boundaries of possibility.
Chapter 2 - Perception Ignited
The late afternoon sun broke through the thick canopy of trees on the long, winding road through the dense preserve casting dappled patterns of light and shadow on Roscoe. The lush green leaves danced in the gentle breeze, creating a picturesque scene of nature's vibrant beauty. The summer heat wrapped itself around the vehicle, adding a sense of warmth and anticipation to the air.
Seated in the backseat, Stiles' imagination soared amidst the seemingly surreal surroundings. His young mind, now awakened to the existence of supernatural beings, conjured images of mythical creatures running alongside the car. Perhaps a majestic unicorn with a gleaming horn or a fierce griffin soaring through the sky? Stiles yearned to encounter these fantastical beings, unsure of which ones were mere legends and which ones held the truth. Now that he knew werewolves were real and that he himself had become one, his entire world, his very perception of reality had forever shifted. Anything seemed possible, and the boundaries between the ordinary and the extraordinary blurred in his mind.
Stiles marveled at the fact that he had been discharged from the hospital yesterday after being there for only a day. He’s still amazed at his own healing. He pulled his sleeve up to look at his arm where the giant werewolf had bitten him and still found it astounding that there wasn’t a single trace of injury.
When they had arrived at Beacon Hills Medical Center two days ago, Melissa McCall happened to be on duty, a stroke of luck that would prove crucial. It was Ms. McCall who first noticed something extraordinary about Stiles' injuries - they were healing at an astonishing rate. The sight both relieved and alarmed the Stilinski family and the medical staff, leaving them bewildered.
Unbeknownst to them, Alpha Talia Hale had cultivated connections within the medical center staff, ensuring that she would be promptly informed of any supernatural occurrences. As soon as she received word of Stiles' condition, she wasted no time and made her way swiftly to the hospital. Talia sought out the bewildered parents, Noah and Claudia Stilinski, to deliver the astonishing truth: their son had been turned into a werewolf.
With utmost care and compassion, Talia explained the physical implications that Stiles would now face, including the transformations, the influence of the full moon, and his heightened senses. She also shed some light on the intricate dynamics of werewolf packs and the profound impact they have on the mental and emotional well-being of their members. Overwhelmed and nervous, the Stilinski family found themselves grappling with the magnitude of the revelation. Noah especially struggled to accept this new reality unfolding before him.
Being a parent herself, with three children of her own, Talia could relate to the stress and uncertainty that accompanied such circumstances. She provided them with her personal contact information and assured them that she would be available whenever they needed assistance, guidance, or simply a compassionate ear to listen or a shoulder to lean on.
As the jeep came to a halt in front of the imposing Hale house, Stiles glanced up and caught sight of a boy not much older than himself standing at one of the upstairs windows. His black hair framed his face, and thick eyebrows added intensity to his piercing green eyes. Though Stiles couldn't comprehend the significance of the moment, he felt an inexplicable pull toward this mysterious boy. With a friendly wave, the stranger acknowledged Stiles' arrival as the younger boy climbed out of the old jeep. Stiles grinned and waved back.
“Mischief,” Claudia called softly, gaining the boy’s attention, and he joined his parents as they headed to the large covered porch.
By the time they reached the stairs, Talia had already opened the red door, ready to greet them with a tall teenager standing at her right that had the same long dark hair and dark eyes as her mother.
“Welcome to our home!” the Alpha said regally. “This is my eldest, Laura,” Talia added, gesturing to the girl next to her. “She has recently started her training to take over as Alpha after myself, so she wanted to join us. Laura, this is Deputy Noah Stilinski and his wife Claudia.”
Talia paused before crouching down to be level with Stiles as she continued, “And this little one here is our newest pack member, Mieczysław.”
Stiles blinked and raised his eyebrows over at his parents at the correct pronunciation of his name. No one outside of their family had ever been able to say it correctly before.
“Nice to meet you all,” Laura said kindly, “especially you, Meechslav.”
Noah smiled at Laura’s stumbling, “You can call him ‘Stiles’ if you want.”
“I am so sorry!” Laura looked horrified, like she had offended them or something, “I’ve been trying to practice saying it. Everyone has the right to have their name pronounced properly.”
Claudia put a calming hand on the girl’s shoulder, and replied, “Sweetie, we appreciate it. Honestly!” She added, seeing Laura about to interrupt. “Mieczysław was my father’s name. They were first generation immigrants from Poland, and, trust me, as a native speaker of the language, I completely understand that most Americans would have issues pronouncing it. Even my little Mischief here has problems saying his own name at times.” Claudia smiled down at Stiles, running her fingers through his shaggy hair. “For the longest time, he pronounced it ‘Mischief’, which is both adorable and, admittedly, accurate,” Claudia laughed lightly and everyone joined in.
“Stiles was originally my own father’s nickname,” Noah added, “so in a way, he’s named after both of his grandparents. We won’t be offended which you choose to call him by. You’re good. I swear.”
Talia smiled at Stiles, still crouched next to him. “What would you prefer, pup?” she inquired softly.
Stiles fidgeted as all eyes turned towards him. He shrugged, “Stiles is what everyone at school calls me.”
“Stiles it is!” Talia said cheerfully before she stood up, clapped her hands once and motioned for everyone to head inside. “How about we show you guys around real quick while Elijah finishes up lunch.”
