Archfey are not supposed to have Heralds from the material plane for one very important reason; they can lie. Fey are bound by their realm rules to be entirely incapable of lying - even if deceit and trickery are in their nature. To have a Herald, a Champion, from the material plane is to have a Herald who is not bound by those same laws. A Herald who can lie, a wasted potential, an anomaly that was banned for that very reason.

The other Archfey were not happy when Jack chose a mortal tiefling to be his Herald. But the stubborn Prince would not be swayed. He began the contract before anyone could notice, hoping to be far along enough that no one could stop him lest they turn his own words to lies - another great sin between the Archfey, to make another Archfey into a liar. And it worked; Ten was well and truly his, before the tiefling ever even knew it, but the Court was displeased. They came to a conclusion, a solution to their problem; kill the Herald once the contract to change Ten’s body was complete.

But Jack could never let that occur, not when he found the one mortal - a being that could lie - who would never betray him. Even with the ability to do so without subterfuge or centuries of planning, Tenran would never choose to lie, because he would always choose to be kind, to be loyal.

So to protect him, Jack wound a part of his soul into that of Ten’s; his joy, his cheer, he merged it into the same pool of emotion that reflected in the tiefling. If the other Fey were to raise a hand against Ten’s soul, they would have to separate Jack’s out first lest they accidentally harm it and justify him starting a war. A war that he would most likely win. But to separate out Jack’s own joy from Tenran’… is difficult, as Ten represents the very emotions Jack gave up to protect him. With a part of his soul housed in the tiefling’s body for Ten’s own protection, Jack lost the ability to feel joy, to feel compassion and happiness and love. Not to mention, his hands are further tied by more laws imposed on him by the Court for defying them all for one little mortal.

Jack wanted Ten, more than anything, because the tiefling would bring a joyful friendship into his cold life. And Ten does, he certainly does, but Jack cannot enjoy any of this - both due to rules and his lack of ability to feel joy. So now, the Herald of Frost stands (unknowingly) for a little more than the precursor to Winter. Ten is the joy of winter, the cheerfulness of warm fires and good company, the fun of the first snowfall.

After everything they have been through, they’re not to a stage where Jack can express his happiness at Ten’s presence, but Ten has finally grown to a point where the gratification of approval is not why he does things anymore. He’s happy to serve Jack, and bring noise and life into the Prince of Frost’s world, until such a day that he can figure out how to free Jack from the Court’s rules. And he will. Oh, he’ll give Jack his joy back alright - it’s the very reason Jack chose him in the first place.

(As far as in game lore goes, I know this as the player, but Ten only knows half of it. He doesn’t know that he’s carrying a part of Jack’s soul in him, and maybe he’ll never find out, but to serve and be kind of his own volition is enough for him, for now.)

Warlock powers may come at a price but, DAYM what a rush! Deimos successfully carried out a mission for his patron Vannatir, and I am so happy to dedicate a drawing to it.

So here's what happened:

Deimos had to place an arcane sigil at a 'place of power'. Getting into the location was a very difficult challenge. At the end it all came down to several straight dice rolls that had to go perfectly in a row. As Deimos started placing the sigil a moment of truly channeling Vannatir occurred. Being as one.

The mission was a SUCCESS! (A BIG thank you to the entire party as well! ♥)

Deimos is still feeling torn/angry about his current type of relationship with his warlock patron(/lover). But there was definitely a moment of pride that this mission was carried out successfully. I'm sure that channeling more power from this sigil to Vannatir won't become an issue later!

Vannatir: "I no longer care much for the material plane, and soon you won't have to either."

omg I actually managed to finish this for Halloween, I cannot believe it fml.

But yeah, a while back @gravecleric0900 and I came up with a BG3 VTM!AU for the BG3 canonical characters AND for the our Tavs/OCs and their LI.

and well.

Allow me to present Councilor Mephistopheles, member of the Inner Council of Seven, a former Member of the Order of Hermes, and a Methuselah turned by Tremere, not long after Tremere himself turned into a vampire; and Aranea, High Regent of the Vienna Chantry who has been holding it for Mephistopheles from the middle of 1800s until modern days (we do not take in consideration what the SI did in Vienna in 2008, that is not canonical in my own version of this). They have A HUGE BEEF with the Ventrues in Vienna, and Mephisto has a well known rivarly with the Ventrue Methuselah Asmodeus.

Aranea was sired by Mephistopheles sometimes in early 1800s, when Aranea, a German Occultist with the obsession of the myth of Faust and Mephistopheles, found herself following the path of Faust and found, at the crossroad, the Devil awaiting for her.

In this artwork, for what concern the garments, I decided to lean more into modern for Aranea and more into 1800s for Mephisto, for one simple reason: Aranea, in virtue of being the High Regent of the Chantry, is the one that has to spend the most time around people, so she needs to try and blend in, somewhat.

Mephistopheles, instead, is always busy with his experiments and machinations somewhere in the depth of the Chantry, and seldom venture outside, so he prefers to wear the garments he used to wear when he fell in love with Aranea (such sentimental).

They obviously share a blood bond, something that Mephisto insisted upon when Aranea was still a fledgling, but with a small twist: Mephistopheles drank from Aranea, which made her his Regnant and he her Thrall.

Also, do not let their height difference fool you: Aranea is still 183 cm tall, so it's Mephisto that is SUPER TALL LOLOLL.

Introducing: the DND Hazbin AU!!!

Sue me some of these classes and races are homebrewed…

Background: for board game night, the subject of DND comes up and Vaggie reveals that she was kind of a nerd while she was alive. She’s a bit self conscious about it but?? Charlie has heard her talk about it before and has wanted to play for ages but they haven’t had a group of people to play with. In a way it’s genius because. Dnd is basically an ultimate team bonding exercise; there’s a lot of empathy and problem solving involved…Vaggie is convinced to give a crash course on the rules, prints out a couple of character sheets, and the rest of the hotel (as per first character creations usually go) basically create themselves as their characters 💀.

Campaign summary: the world is set in a high fantasy adjacent of hell, where Charlie is dead broke and has 0 means raising money for a hotel to redeem the sinners of this realm. With the rest of her party, they set off from avernus (the top ring of the nine hells of Baator ) to Nessus (the deepest ring), where Lucifer has isolated himself within a securely guarded fortress. She intends to ask him to get an audience with heaven to plead her cause.

Team Comp: So the tank for this team is definitely Vaggie, with Charlie and Husk as the support + healers, nifty as a front line damage dealer, Pentious, Alastor, and Angel as long distance damage dealers. To balance out this team maybe Charlie multiclasses to a barbarian down the line??

Pride is fragile. Or, what could possibly go wrong for the dark elf Deimos when you turn your high elf lover into a warlock patron? I wanted to experiment with shape design again for this drawing, so that I can show more of Deimos' psyche: Prideful yet starting to shatter.

The bright side of this situation being the warlock powers he gets from the high elf Vannatir.

And hey, Vannatir has feelings too! And he's never done anything wrong, ever.

Vannatir ending up trapped on the outerplanes? Arguably Deimos' fault. Vannatir returning as a powerful warlock patron? That was more of a collab of these two elves haha. Deimos was the one that carried out the ritual without knowing all the details. He just trusted Vannatir completely and wanted to save him.
