In WarioWare Gold, the "A Moment of Reflection" microgame features a ghost that the player must reflect light onto using a mirror. On level 1 of the microgame, the ghost turns into a yellow figure; on level 2, the yellow figure will grow hair, and on level 3, it will transform into one of the three characters shown above. These appear to be off-model depictions of Ashley, Mona and Penny.

I know you base your art around the Smooth Moves style (right? Am I right? uuuuhh…) but what about the voices in your head?
Er, I mean their voices. The character voices. For instance, do you prefer to hear Jimmy as a disco king bass from the older games, or a smooth talkin baritone like in the newest games?
You are right LOL my favorite warioware art style (and game) is twisted but for the most part the timeframe of all my comics is encompassed by a nebulous "smooth moves era". The first warioware sets the game in "200X" and that's pretty much my mindset writing these. The voices in my head (LOL) pretty much reflect that with few exceptions - for jimmy i definitely still imagine his deeper voice from his glory days, although i do appreciate how expressive the new voice is. My one notable exception to this rule is spitz, because........
youtube
try as i might i cannot get myself to imagine his lines in this voice. The closest i can get is if i imagine him sounding like shriek from catdog? But it's not something i can naturally get my brain to do without thinkin about it. But i don't even really imagine his new voice either. I have been trying to put a finger on what the voice i do imagine for him comes from for quite some time and I honestly think it's just meowth. Not a 1:1 meowth - i think of spitz as sounding a little deeper-voiced and less nasally - but after much soul-searching i really think that pokemon was just so seminal to my brain development that it set the standard for all other brooklynese cats in my life. Sorry spitz.

did you have any scrapped ideas for Dr69 like scrapped characters and stuff?
Man it took me a while to remember all the scrapped stuff for DR69 but I think I have a good list of things.
First, there are actually a few scrapped characters that never made it into DR69's cast.
The most interesting scrapped character in my opinion would have to be Hat Kid (a hat in time). She was in fact meant to be the protagonist! However, since they canonically don't speak (as in a silent protagonist) I didn't know if it was possible to even use them (especially for trials) so she was replaced with silly lovely Luigi
I had also planned to add Dr. Robotnik/Eggman (sonic), Marie (splatoon) and Isabelle (animal crossing) but only decided against it as I knew next to nothing about each game's respective lore (esp sonic which I thought fans would get mad at me for lol)
Additionally, Greg Heffley (diary of a wimpy kid) was going to be a character, a potential killer at that, but was scrapped due to me being unsure how to really display him in the fic. After all, his only two versions are a flat drawing and his depiction in the films (and at the time I was iffy on using live action characters, you can see that has changed hehe)
Matt Major (parappa anime) and Cricket (warioware) were both going to be added as I really liked those two at the time. However they were both rejected as I thought they were too obscure (and Cricket was replaced with Ashley as I thought she was more well known being in smash, generally the most popular character from warioware, and since I liked her as well). Of course lucky Matt made in into UDG69 although we know the current fate of that fic (rip) Next, here's some scrapped story/scene ideas that never made it into DR69:
Originally, I had actually planned Mario to be revealed more villainous when exposed as the ch1 killer. Yeah, the whole "Mario is evil" shebang where he actually only cared about himself and murdered just to get out, and Luigi having to deal with the revelation his brother was a terrible person the entire time. I'm don't remember 100% why I changed it, but I'm kinda glad I did. I feel like Luigi has more sympathetic motivation with Mario remaining a genuinely good person up until the end.
In chapter 4, there was going to be a scene where Luigi would stumble upon Fluttershy and Ayano having tea together in the dining hall. It was meant to be "the only two currently surviving girls having a nice moment together" but I think I never went through with it due to pacing and the uncertainty on if it was worth having the scene at all.
In chapter 5, Brian was actually supposed to show the first chapter of his book to Luigi. However, this never happened due to me... never actually figuring out what exactly he wrote. Like, his whole book writing was to do more with his escapism, especially as the killing game went on, more than the content of whatever he was writing. Also, I could never find the right moment to add it in as Brian was always in a sour mood in context. You could theorise what he wrote if you'd like, or even interpret as him never writing anything at all until he wrote that letter to Parappa.
Another chapter 5 thing was a scene where Luigi would stumble upon Brian and Parappa having a heartfelt conversation. This idea came to me, like, way early to me because I had always intended for the two dogs to interact at some point. It's implied they did spend time together during chapter 5, but you never really see it too often through Luigi. I also never added it due to it not really fitting anywhere properly.
This came to me just now while writing this but I think I wanted to do a bonus mode for DR69 but never did. I'm only mentioning it as it was going to involve Luigi finally having a FTE with Mr. Krabs. I didn't plan what they would talk about, but I assume Mr. Krabs would talk about his restaurant (to reflect why he was so insistent in creating a crew) and some spongebob lore lol
#I hope these are some interesting things#I don't have much documented about the earlier chapters so I don't know if I ever had other scrapped stuff about them

In this picture, we have Iggy Koopa (who has previously joined the good side) tried to help 9-Volt (from Warioware) who was crystalized by "The Great Ancient Threat" that I have mentioned about in past submissions. Iggy used a human transformation spell to try to revive 9-Volt, but failed to realize that spells do not work on spirit-crystal.
The spell reflected back at Iggy and he accidentally turned himself human. Geno then reminds Iggy to use star-aura regeneration instead to revive 9-Volt. According to Lina, the affects of Iggy remaining human are temporary and the affects should wear off in 5 days.
Lina and Iggy afterwards eventually revive 9-Volt after about 20 minutes of casting star-aura regeneration with their wands on 9-Volt..
(These are not my characters, Iggy Koopa and Piantissimo are the intellectual properties of Nintendo. Lina is the intellectual property of Fuji TV Network. 9-Volt is the intellectual property of Nintendo and Intelligent Systems. Geno is the intellectual property of Nintendo and Square Enix).

The Mechanics
Before we continue, we need to talk about how the game mechanics differ from Undertale. These changes are designed to better reflect the themes of this AU. For instance, instead of the usual Fight option, you now have Exorcize/Expel, which fits more with the human you play as and their role. Act remains unchanged, allowing for character interactions and unique actions during battles. The Item option is now called Bag, representing a more practical approach to managing your inventory. Lastly, Mercy has been replaced by Forgive, which shifts the focus from simply sparing enemies to offering them a deeper form of redemption.
Exorcise: This is the replacement for Fight and allows you to expel a monster, essentially the equivalent of killing. Unlike in the original Undertale, When you select a monster to attack you need to charge the attack which will require you to solve a quick puzzle or complete a short minigame (similar to WarioWare). The better you perform in these minigames, the stronger your attack will be.
Act: While Act functions similarly to Undertale, there are a few key changes. Using Check reveals their stats and a Forgiveness Bar. To raise this bar and give yourself the option to forgive the enemy, you must take certain actions. Alternatively, you can focus on lowering their stats through specific actions during the fight until they surrender and run away, although this takes more time and is best used on specific foes.
Bag: The Bag is where you store your items, similar to Items in Undertale. You can use items to heal or boost certain stats, and it also stores temporary items, like a garbage lid that lets you block attacks for a short time. However, bag space is limited. You can upgrade your bag over time, but managing your resources carefully is crucial for survival. Keeping some healing items in reserve for emergencies is highly recommended, as resource management becomes key in the Underworld.
Forgive: This is the AU’s version of Mercy. To Forgive a monster, you must recognize that they are sinners who have committed wrongs. Forgiveness doesn’t mean excusing their behavior, it’s about helping them come to terms with their actions. Only when they acknowledge the wrongfulness of their ways will they allow you to forgive them.

I've been writing some episodes of a WarioWare cartoon series, and here are my thoughts on it.
It must be the diversity of personalities in these games, but it's been really easy to nail the voices of each of the characters. The cast is huge, and I haven't been able to use all of them yet, so I'm only talking about the ones I've focused on. The only character that's taken me a bit so far is Orbulon, but two of the three episodes I've written focus on him, so I've gotten some time to get his voice down. The secret: BE DRAMATIC. Be dramatic, split up some contractions, and refer to things as "Earth-things." That's how you do it.
The P A C I N G ? I've only made each episode 15 minutes, so I've been able to write all the scenes I want and move the plot along without adding any fluff scenes to make the episode longer. A fast-paced plot actually works with WarioWare, considering the nature of the microgames.
I started off with two episodes that have emotional scenes at the end, one that's happy-emotional and one that's sad-emotional. I think the happy-emotional scene lost its original punch after I played it in my head enough times, but the sad-emotional scene still has that emotion in it, and considering that it contributes to 9-Volt's character development, I wouldn't have it any other way.
I don't want to publish these just yet because they're episodes 2B, 5A, and 5B, and I like to publish episodes in order. I have three or four more episodes I want to write so I can work on the characters I haven't gotten to.

Mini Fanfic #445: Father (Super Smash Bros Ultimate)
2:21 p.m. Tazmily Village, Flint's House
Lucas: (Happily Sit Next with his father) So, dad, how was everything in the village going along while I was gone?
Flint: (Smiles a Little) Pretty good. There wasn't really anything this village can't handle now that we're doing our part to protect it and ourselves.
Lucas: That's great! I'm really glad you guys are doing so much better nowadays.
Flint: Me too. But what about you, son? How are things going for you in Smash Town lately?
Lucas: Everything has been going great so far. I'm already loving it there already. I made so many new friends, the adults there are all so nice and caring, and I even have a girlfriend too!
Flint: (Raised an Eyebrow in a bit of a Surprise) Really now.
Lucas: (Nodded Happily) Her name is Ashley. She's a Witch in Training, she's so nice and caring, and we spent so much time with each other too. ('Sighs a Bit Dreamingly') I'm really happy to be with someone like her.....
Flint: (Chuckles Lightly) Well, I'll be. My boy actually got himself a Lady-Friend and in love as we speak. One of these days, we just might have ourselves an actual wedding in our hands.
Lucas: (Blushes Bright Red) D-D-Dad!! W-We're still kids!! I-I-I really don't think we're both ready for that responsibility yet!!
Flint: (Starts Laughing Wholeheartedly) Relax, son. I was only messing you is all.
Lucas: (Starts Pouting in Embarrassment) H-Honestly.....
Flint: But in all seriousness though, I am glad you're having a great time in the town. Especially how challenging the tournament itself can be at times.
Lucas: Yeah....But I always do whatever I can to pull through in the end. (Chuckles Lightly) It is a way to man up after all, am I right?
Flint: .............
Lucas: (Starts Frowning in a bit if Worry Once he Noticed his Dad was Getting Silent) Dad?
Flint: Lucas.... There's something I've been meaning to tell you since you got here....
Lucas: Really? W-What is it?
Flint: I would like to apologize to you, son.
Lucas: (Starts Getting Confused) "Apologize"? For what?
Flint: For not being a good enough father to you during those days.....
Lucas: You mean when-
Flint: Yeah.......('Sigh Heavily') Ever since that day of your mother's death, life became.........complicated to say the least. I was angry, depressed, and desperate for vengeance that....I hardly made sure you kids were okay, given that I was locked up after my..... outburst that night....It didn't help that your brother went missing that day....only to find out that he was dead and reincarnated to be that.....(Starts Gritting his Teeth a Little) abomination's working solider this entire time..... ('Sigh') But case in point, I.... haven't been the same person I was back then....But even still....(Turns to Lucas) None of it was an excuse for me to be being a careless father to you, son.
Lucas: Dad............
Flint: I mean it. You were suffering just as much as I was. About losing your own mother and brother. I knew that and yet......I never bother to be there for you when you needed me the most. Even when you were able to save our world, I hardly did anything to make sure you were okay. I practically let you dealt with all of grief and sadness alone. And for that....(Takes off his Hat a Bit Solemnly) I am truly sorry, my son.
'Sound of the Wind Blowing in the Air'
Lucas: ........Dad....(Smiles a bit) It's okay. I don't blame you for anything.
Flint: (Genuinely Surprised) You don't?
Lucas: (Shook his Head) No. I mean, sure.....I was really sad about mom's death that night.....And seeing Claus killing himself right in front of me didn't helped me on the long run....But I never once blame you for not being there for me sooner. You were so sad and heartbroken that....it made perfect sense as to why we were so distant with one another.
Flint: That maybe the case, but like I said before, it doesn't excuse me for not being the father I was suppose to be.
Lucas: I know.....And you're right.....But even still..... I accept your apology. Because no matter what happens....(Smiles Brightly) You're my dad. And I'll always love you.
Flint: (Chuckles Lightly as A Single Tear Fe Down From his Eye) You've really starting to grow up, Lucas.
Lucas: You think so?
Flint: (Simply Nodded) Yep. I don't remember tell you this, but....I just wanted to let you know that....(Smiles Softly Towards his Son) I really am proud of you, my son.
Lucas: (Smiles Softly as He Hugs Flint) Thanks, Dad.
'Twig Break'
Flint: (Noticed the Sound of a Twig Breaking and Someone from a Distance) Hey, Lucas.
Lucas: Hm?
Flint: Don't be alarm, but.... I'm start to notice someone's been watching us from a distance.
Lucas: "A Distance"? (Got up from the Where he was Sitting and Noticed A....Very Familiar Face Nervously Staring at Him and Flint... Behind a Tree) Ashley? I-Is that really you?
Ashley: (Starts Blushing) L-L-Lucas! M-My apologies!... (Nervously Made her way to the Duo) I-I was only checking on you two. Making sure everything is all right and stuff....I didn't mean to cause trouble.....
Lucas: T-There's really no need to apologise, Ashley. Really. In fact....(Smiles Softly at his Girlfriend) It made me really happy that you were worried about our well beings.
Ashley: You.... really mean that?
Lucas: Of course I do. (Gently Holds Both of Ashley's Hands) You always mean well to me.
Ashley: (Starts Smiling a Little) Oh, Lucas.....
???: ('Ahem')
The young couple turns to see Flint patiently stares at them. Which causes Ashley to get nervous again.
Flint: So....you must be Lucas' Girlfriend.... Ashley, right?
Ashley: Y-Y-Yes Sir! I-It's the honestly truth. I-I-I.....I......I LOVE YOUR SON WITH ALL OF MY HEART!!!
'Silence'
Ashley: (Eyes Widened in Horror) (Why on Earth did I say that out loud?! What is Wrong with me?!!)
Flint: (Laughs Wholeheartedly) I can already tell. Lucas told me all about you after all.
Ashley: (Turns to Lucas) Y-You really told your father a-about me?
Lucas: (Happily Nodded) Mmhmm. I wanted to tell him how amazing you really are to me. (Smiles Brightly) Cause I love you too.
Ashley: (Blushes Again) Lucas.....
Flint: Missy....
Ashley: (Turns Back to Flint) Y-Yes sir?
Flint: (Nodded with a Small Smile) I would like to thank you very kindly for taking good care of my son in Smash Town for me.
Ashley: I-It's not a problem at all, sir. (Gently Holds Lucas' Hand) Lucas means a lot to me and I want to do whatever it takes to be there for him.
Lucas: (Smiles Softly) It's the truth. (Gently Squeezes Ashley's Hand) And I would do whatever it takes to be there for her too.
Flint: .......Are you sure you kids aren't ready to get married yet?
Ashley: (Starts Blushing Brightly) M-M-M-Married?!
Lucas: (Blushes As Well) DAD!! We already talked about this!!!
Flint: (Chuckles Lightly) I kid. I kid. Let's all just try and settle down now, yeah?
Lucas: ('Sigh') Yeah...
Ashley: (Nodded While Finally Calming Herself Down) Couldn't agree with you more honestly......
Flint: How about I make you kids some lemonade on the house.
Lucas: (Smiles Softly) Sure.
Ashley: (Smiles a Little) I would like that....
Flint: (Simply Nodded) Great. Then I'll make them right away. (Grab his Hat and Made his Way to the House) I'll be right back.
Lucas/Ashley: 'Kay!
Lucas: (Turns to Ashley) So, Ashley....
Ashley: Hm?
Lucas: How are you liking Tazmily Village so far?
Ashley: (Smiles Softly) Pretty well. The scroll around the town was relaxing and somewhat memorable. Though, it would be lovely if were there with me, my dear.
Lucas: (Chuckles Lightly) Sorry about that. I wanted to see my dad first before I do anything else.
Ashley: (Giggles Softly) I understand, Lucas. Don't worry. Your father seems like a really nice man.
Lucas: He is. He tries his hardest to be the man he wants to be. Even now.
Ashley: I can see that. I'm just happy you two were still able to have a close bond after all this time.
Lucas: (Smiles Sincerely) Me too, Ashley. Me too.
Inside the House....
Flint: (Smiling a Little to Himself) (Lucas....My son.... He's really growing up now, hasn't he? If he keeps this up, one of these days....He might be a even better man than I am right now. Honestly can't wait for that day to come, not gonna lie.)

has someone ever done a case study on which emotion each of asterix’s helmet’s wing shapes represent
#we know they reflect his emotions but they're a bit fickle#youd have to analyse every single panel ever drawn and then draw a majority i guess#both straight up seems to be both jumpscare and extreme happiness#one straight up and one bent at a 90 degree angle seems to indicate thinking#there was some time he was super happy and the wings curled right up. u know the one#and they curl down when hes sad#but then theres panels to contradict all that#so!!!!! maybe when i have all the books ill do it myself#warioware jingle

Common Wario myths and misconceptions.
As someone running a Wario fan blog, I regularly see Wario myths and misconceptions thrown around like they are fact.
Since I don’t want to constantly repeat myself, I figured it would make sense to make a master post, mentioning them all and why they are untrue:
Gunpei Yokoi was Wario’s creator.
Not true, he was the creator of the Game Boy, Wario’s debut system, but had no hand in Wario’s creation.
Hiroji Kiyotake is the one who fits most to be considered Wario’s creator. He is the one who came up with the idea to introduce a new villain and was his original designer.
Wario was designed as a mockery of Mario, to represent R&D1’s distaste for having to work on a Mario game.
This is a popular myth, possibly the earliest one for Wario. but there is not a single source that supports it. Official sources that talk about Wario’s creation instead talk about him taking inspiration from classic cartoon rivals like Bluto, resulting in a bigger, stronger, more cunning counterpart to Mario.
Captain Syrup was rejected during Mario Tennis 64’s development, in favor of Waluigi.
We don’t know why Captain Syrup has been completely overlooked. But Waluigi has nothing to do with it. An interview published in Nintendo Power revealed that they wanted to bring in a new character to begin with and it just so happens that we got Waluigi out of it.
Rudy’s full name is Rudy the Clown.
This one’s odd.
When Rudy debuted in Wario Land 3, he was only known as A Hidden Figure, with no sources giving him a name. Dr. Mario 64 introduced the Rudy name, but without ‘’the Clown’’ anywhere.
Fortune Street did eventually call him Rudy the Clown in one of Wario’s lines, however, the ‘’the Clown’’ part was already around beforehand and likely taken from fan sites during localization.
Shake It was a sales flop.
The game did struggle initially, but there have been sources to confirm that it did eventually manage to sell a million copies. Even its initially slow sales are generally attributed to a poor economy and low game sales across the board, at the time.
Wario Land sells less than Ware and is super niche.
Not true actually!
While Touched and Smooth Moves are among Wario’s best selling titles, Wario Land is a far more consistent success, with every game aside from the Virtual Boy entry, selling a minimum of 1 million copies. The series sells on par and usually better than other notable Nintendo series like Metroid and Kirby.
WarioWare meanwhile, after a successful initial era with it’s first 5 titles, saw lower sales with Snapped, the DIY games and especially Game & Wario, taking until Gold to bounce back and Get It Together is looking to bring the series to new heights.
WarioWare killed Wario Land.
This kind of statement comes from a severe misunderstanding of how different sub-series are handled.
Land and Ware have little in common aside from their main character, are completely different types of games and haven’t shared a development division since 2004. It’s the equivalent of blaming the Mario & Sonic series for the Strikers games being gone, it doesn’t add up.
The truth is that R&D1 is no more, and the producers and directors of the Land games are either retired or busy with other series. WarioWare meanwhile still has the most crucial people behind it around to continue it and SPD1 had the resources and manpower to still handle it, unlike say, Wario Land or 2D Metroid, which they weren’t big enough for anymore to tackle.
WarioWare is developed by Intelligent Sytems only.
False. IS have been with the series since Mega Party Game$, but they merely are co-developers, assisting R&D1, which became SPD1, which merged with EAD to become EPD1.
Mona’s full name is Mona Pizza.
Nope. It’s the name of the pizza place and the iconic song, but it’s not Mona’s name.
To add to this, despite the name and it being styled around her, Mona is not the owner of Mona Pizza, it’s Joe who’s the owner and still Mona’s boss.
Wario is gross in WarioWare.
People who haven’t seen much Ware and are confused about his Smash incarnation tend to think this, but this is not true.
While toilet humor is a part of the series, it’s rare to say, see references to Wario farting and none of them happened before Brawl entered development. In fact, there is only a single microgame where Wario farts vs dozens of microgames where he is being depicted as strong, greedy, or going treasure hunting.
In cutscenes Wario is also the same as usual. We see more of his goofy side, but that makes sense, given the premise of Wario being in the city, rather than on an adventure. It’s no different in tone than the beloved Camelot sports intros, staring Wario & Waluigi.
Ashley is 15.
The western WarioWare Touched website did state this, but Japanese sources keep her age ambiguous, and her speech patterns imply she is much younger.
To give some context: japanese fans most commonly guess she’s around 8 years old.
Wario was marketed differently between the west and Japan and Smash reflects the ‘’true Wario’’.
Basically, everything the Source Gaming Wario article claims. I already made a looong counter to that, so I’ll refer to it for a detailed explanation:

let’s talk about Nintendo’s inanimate object characters
look, i rarely write anything Nintendo-related because it’s not really my jam, but my creative juices are flowing because of my deadlines and this came to mind. also i feel like almost all of the examples in this post came from Nintendo’s wackiest era, if that means anything. let’s take a look:
Goodstyle - Wario: Master of Disguise (2007)
the magical wand with the face of the Pringles’ guy. Goodstyle’s subservient and gentle nature makes him the perfect assistant to Wario’s domineering and brash character. the design reflects that: his eyebrows are always raised to indicate worry for Wario’s actions and motivations (which can be described as questionable at best), his head is huge in comparison to his body which is slim and bent, again suggesting anxiety and uncertainty. he calls Wario ‘master’ and the reason these two are a perfect match is how they’re binary opposites. Wario’s a greedy slob whereas Goodstyle is a romantic gentleman trapped in a wand. one’s whimsical, the other isn’t. if we’re thinking about Nintendo’s choices when creating a sidekick for a character like Wario, it makes sense for Goodstyle to act like Wario’s servant because Wario thinks he’s the shit, so having someone who would challenge him wouldn’t bode well on a solo outing (as opposed to the Warioware games which are known for their character ensembles).
Perry the Parasol - Super Princess Peach (2005)
i have to admit, this guy was the reason behind this entire post because i was so surprised to find out that (a) Peach had a sidekick, and (b) Peach had her own game. so here we are. this is the only game on the list i haven’t played but i have watched a walkthrough for it and Perry honestly seems like a great guy. this game was all about subverting roles by having Mario be the hostage and Peach the saviour, but even so, Peach isn’t really given much personality. this is reflected through Perry too: he’s just there. he smiles a lot, i guess? by reading the comments on that walkthrough i watched i found out that this game probably didn’t do well because it was too GiRLy for the audience of the time. i mean long forgotten are the early 00s days when Nintendo was pumping out games for BOYS and then... Nintendogs? Perry definitely brings out traditionally feminine characteristics: soft and delicate, riding the air’s breeze, blush on his cheeks, yellow in colour to signify joy and light with cyan frills just like curtains or lingerie? it’s giving what male writers think a woman’s sidekick should be. male characters can have jetpacks and monstertrucks but women... well here’s a parasol that’s always happy, or in the case of Bayonetta who’s a bit edgier, gun heels. coincidentally, Perry shares the same exact colour palette with none other than Athena Cykes. what a crazy coinky dink, amirite??? *sigh*
Cappy - Super Mario Odyssey (2017)
a comparatively recent character and the poster boy for Communism. yes, you read that right. hear me out: by 2017 Mario holds as much power as Mickey Mouse. undoubtedly the Eastern version of the mouse, the mascot of an evil money-hungry conglomerate. who would dare dim Mario’s light, especially in a solo outing? the Switch had just been released earlier that year and this was supposed to be what Galaxy was to the Wii. Cappy is very much Mario’s “equal”. that’s what this hat thinks. Cappy comes from a world drenched in black and white, where all its citizens simply... exist. they are there to be hats. if right now you’re thinking ‘gee, that sounds awfully familiar to Russia in the early 1950s’ you are correct. the very reason Cappy helps out Mario in his adventure is because his younger sister, Tiara, was stolen alongside Peach. Cappy is naive enough to think that his struggle is equal to that of Mario. has Cappy not played any Nintendo games? has he not heard of the selfish, downtrodden, maniacal, twisted and demented world of “Super” Mario? there is nothing super about the way Mario uses the rest of the cast, namely... Yoshi. foolish hat. in what world do you hail from a kingdom of Communism and end up becoming the equal of a plumber who is the face of a company that sells a $30 Pokemon Expansion Pass?
Satan F.L.U.D.D. - Super Mario Sunshine (2002)
god do i hate this game. i think it might be the worst game i have ever played in my life, like it’s competing with TiT for #1. anyway, let’s consider everything i said in the previous section. despite the fact that Sunshine came out 15 years before Odyssey, i think the idea of not dimming Mario’s shine was there. similarly to Cappy, F.L.U.D.D. stays out of Mario’s spotlight by being mute for most of the game and is used as a tool. unlike the rest of the entries however, F.L.U.D.D. isn’t even given a face. there are no facial characteristics whatsoever and its robotic voice reduces it to a complete object. this might be Nintendo’s most extreme attempt to give Mario a sidekick which wouldn’t take away from him being the main character. i hate F.L.U.D.D. it’s delusional enough to think it does a good job when it’s legit a piece of trash and it possesses Mario and refuses to let go. don’t get me wrong, Mario doesn’t earn any sympathy points, but not letting go? a belt that doesn’t let go? please let him go.
#boy did this post change trajectory when Perry's section came#the shift in tone too...#i have entrusted the Bri ish healthcare system with my life and they have given me antibiotics. i blame this un'ingedness on them#it's the meds for sure#nintendo#not sly cooper#super mario#i need to nap after writing this
