The Reunion
Loid is forced to reveal himself to Gomaitru.
---
Gomaitru believed that Loid was dead, a facsimile of his personality preserved in the little Cephalon drone that followed her ever since, soothing her mind when she was ravaged by nightmares. And now he stood before her, as she remembered him long before the infestation, before Father’s disappearance: a delicate but determined man, his head held high despite the visible worry in his eyes.
A different Gomaitru would have raised her great arm and brought it down upon Loid in a fit of rage and vengeance. The infestation had taken her name, her memories, but not her grudges, though it was the Ayatan of the Entrati that brought Gomaitru back to reason. Now she had found a place for compassion and pity in her heart. Father was just a man, and she could not go on forever stewing in her feelings of betrayal. Loid was just doing what he had to - serve the family, serve Father. Still, she needed answers.
They stood in silence and tension rose. The Cephalon floated idly, but Gomaitru could tell it was not at ease - strange -  had the Cephalon always been capable of such an emotion? Loid had not anticipated a meeting like this. Whatever Father had thrust upon his shoulders this time, he had not expected to return to this.
“Loid,” Gomaitru decided to break the silence. “Tell me, how is it that I see two of you? How did you survive the glassing?”
“I was never glassed. This… Construct is not a conventional Cephalon,” Loid glanced at the other him. The Construct did not speak, a silent witness to the reunion.
“I see. Very well. You will tell me everything. It is the least you could do, given the circumstances.”
Necraloid woke Gomaitru from her slumber suddenly, something had breached the Necralisk. Something that wasn’t the infestation, the Corpus or the Grineer. Shambling, void cursed things, made of limbs and sand and stone. They were coming for the Heart, the Necraloid shouted at her. Gomaitru called her husband, her children, and ordered them to protect the Heart. Soon, the Tenno came, as if they too knew of the threat beyond the Veil. The cursed things were vanquished and the Heart was secured, but something changed in the Necralisk. A secret room, unknown to the family prior, had been breached by the entities. Then came the truth. Of Loid, of Father’s secret endeavors, of the Tenno’s dealings with the Construct. All this time, Gomaitru had slept on a bitter secret. Did the family know? She knew Vilcor built things for Father, she knew Kermerros would sometimes talk to Loid in hushed voices. Grandmother, ever the silent but knowing watcher, even she could have known something. A different Gomaitru would have exploded in rage - her suspicions of the family conspiring against her validated, but she understood the truth now, she could swallow the bitterness. The threat was old as time, familiar and foreign at the same time.
The creatures that attacked the Heart were called the Murmur - foot soldiers of the Indifference, sent by the Void itself. The source of Father’s madness and despair for decades. The dark secret he and Loid had kept from the rest of the family and the world. And yet, Gomaitru’s heart ached - why did Father not trust her with this knowledge? He let the family sleep on a powder keg, thinking they would be safe as long as he was the one in control of the fuse. And here they were, moments from disaster, with Father nowhere to be found.
And now Loid had returned to her, forced to reveal himself to protect the family. It was no happy reunion, no tears of joy or arms thrown around one another in embrace. The Heart in peril - and the family was once again summoned to task. Funny, how some things just tend to happen over and over again.
“Now that the Necralisk has been breached, you aren’t safe here anymore,” Loid said.
“Safety has long stopped being a concern.” Gomaitru waved her great hand, gesturing to the infested masses pulsating on the walls and floors of the Necralisk. Whatever promise Loid had made to Father he was still trying to uphold, despite the clear futility of the act. “We can defend ourselves.”
“You don’t understand-”
“You think I do not know the Void? Loid, I was there. From the very beginning, just as you were.”
That accursed day was forever seared in her memory, not even the infestation could take away the sight of her father on the floor, bleeding, writhing, making noises that could only be described as nightmarish. Gomaitru remembered it all - the sound, the smell, the finger falling on the floor. For centuries the day of the dive lingered in her memories.
“We lived under the same roof, ate at the same dinner table. I too had to watch Father wither away into a parody of himself.”
“Euleria…”
Her old name, before the infestation. It did sound familiar when Loid said it. Gomaitru was feeling anger germinate inside her, yet this one word, this one name. It tugged at some old thread of memories, long dormant. Before the betrayal, before even the dive. Better times, long gone.
“Loid, please listen to me,” her voice softened. “Just this once. Please.”
Loid did not say a word.
“I know we did not part on the best of terms. I was angry at you, but I have found peace. I know what Father meant to you, I need to know why you did all of this, why you kept me in the dark.”
Loid collected himself, he fussed with his coat, straightened himself out and… sat down. He got comfortable, took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes, then put the glasses back on. Gomaitru watched him quietly. He stared off into the distance. The Construct was still loitering around, it clearly did not want to disturb the moment, a complete opposite of his usual, chatty demeanor.
“I promised not to tell anyone. It was to protect you. All of it was part of his plan.” Loid looked up at Gomaitru. “I never glassed myself, the Construct is a copy of my brain, crafted to be a companion for both me and you. Albrecht believed it would… ease our minds, keep us company while he is away.”
Gomaitru grimaced. A copy of Loid, a digital clone. Vile. Why would Father do that to him?
“Where is he?”
“I cannot tell you that.”
“Loid, please.”
Loid sighed.
“Albrecht went back in time. To run away from that… Entity. The Void, the Indifference,” Loid tried his best not to fumble his words. “He ordered me to destroy the device and lock down the labs. The Construct was to take over my role as family servant and I was to go into cryosleep until the Tenno arrived to assist in the next stages of the plan.”
Gomaitru, Loid and Father wrote the very foundations of Void science and yet, the words coming from Loid’s mouth could not be more foreign. Still, Gomaitru knew Loid was not lying - what point would there be for him to spin fairytales now?
“I am sorry. You must understand this was…” Loid’s voice trailed off. He couldn't not bring himself to finish his sentence.
“Loid,” Gomaitru took the lead. “I relieve you of your duties.”
Loid’s eyes widened, he stirred and hastily got up to his feet. The Construct’s eyes lit up and for a moment Gomaitru thought it might say something.
“Euleria-!” Loid’s voice was full of despair, surely he thought that Gomaitru was rejecting him.
No, it was not so.
“As the current head of house Entrati, I, Gomaitru, declare you, Loid, no longer a servant. You have suffered enough and I will not see you suffer any longer. This is final.”
“But-”
“I do not want you to serve me, or Father, or anyone else in this house.”
“Mother,” the Construct finally spoke up. “What is the meaning of this?”
“I suffered for centuries, chasing the ghost of my Father in a vain hope that I might find him somewhere. I rejected my family, I rejected my colleagues, I rejected everyone but my own delusional fantasies. I cannot undo what I have done, but I can change going forward.”
Loid said nothing, the Construct floated nervously, swaying side to side, then looking at Loid, then looking at Gomaitru, desperately waiting for someone to speak.
“Euleria,” Loid’s voice was soft and weak. “I should be the one apologizing. I should be the one declaring that you no longer have to suffer. I am as much at fault as Albrecht is - I followed him every step of the way, I did not just do what he asked of me, my signature is on every plan he drafted.”
“Did you have a choice?”
Loid’s body stiffened, his hands balled up in fists. No words left his mouth. Gomaitru leaned down, stared deep into his eyes.
“We both were blindly led by Father, thinking him to be above the rest. We both loved him, thinking that one day that love would be returned two-fold, if only… if only we were worthy.”
Loid turned away from her, surely to hide his tears. Gomaitru knew. She knew how much Loid loved Father, but she never knew if Father loved him. He seemed to, but everything about Father was half-said. She believed it to be the sign of a genius, that she simply was too small-minded to understand him, but now she knew better. Father was not above the rest, was not above her or Loid. And now Loid was groveling before her, like any well-trained servant would, because of his duty to Father and his duty to her and his duty to the Entrati name. Loid’s body twitched as he was no longer able to hide neither the tears nor the sobs escaping his mouth. The Construct floated closer, attempting what Gomaitru could describe as a deft hug, only to be swatted away as Loid wrapped his arms around himself.
“Loid,” Gomaitru’s voice was soft. “Look at me.”
He hesitated, but eventually turned to face her and hastily wiped the tears off his face.
“I apologize,” he uttered, defeated.
“Don’t. I must have fallen into old habits with my harsh words,” Gomaitru said. “I did not mean to mar our reunion with tears.”
Loid chuckled at that.
“Euleria, you know how I am.”
“I do. Cephalon, fetch some tea. There is much we must discuss still.”

What would Eueleria's version of duviri look like? Would it be a replica or bigger, more vast?

i like to imagine that the entrati family on deimos are technically capable of leaving their ‘flowers’ but don’t because the rest of their body past what we see is just like. a giant centipede. which would also explain how they can seemingly move around to different flowers to meet us there each time…. burrow system

Tales of Duviri is a storybook written by Euleria Entrati for the purpose of teaching children how to handle the manic flood of emotion that comes with Void exposure.
I pose a question: why does Euleria feel so strongly about this?
Her interactions with her own children are... let's call them wanting, and dialog implies that the negative aspects of their relationship--her denigrating, controlling nature, the distrust, etc--did not begin only after the Infestation brainrot set in.
We also know that she holds her father in extremely high esteem, but Albrecht did not think much of Tales of Duviri (see: him talking about his previous disdain for it in his own Duviri notes). Euleria put resources into writing Tales of Duviri instead of more traditional science, and Albrecht did not think much of it.
So why did Euleria write Tales of Duviri?
Let's rewind a step. Void exposure-induced mania, the whole thing Tales of Duviri is written to help manage.
How was that discovered and studied? It clearly was studied, enough to be a recognized condition and for the Orokin to build the iso vaults and for Euleria to write Tales of Duviri. But who would they have observed this mania in if Void research was an abandoned dead-end line of study?
Perhaps...the man obsessed with the Void who'd survived an unshielded Void dive?
Euleria had patient zero of Void mania sitting at her dinner table. Albrecht is the character who's undoubtedly had the most Void exposure.
Albrecht himself must have exhibited the Void mania and mood swings that Tales of Duviri exists to teach caution of.
And that's why Euleria wrote it; she had this gyroscope of a mood swing at home. She admired Albrecht too much to consciously deride his lack of control as irresponsible and so she channeled her energy into writing Tales of Duviri instead.
The emotion spirals of Duviri are loosely based off of what Euleria witnessed in the Entrati household and particularly Albrecht himself.
I don't believe that any courtier is a 1:1 translation of a member of the Entrati household, but more that their toxic interactions and dramatic heights reflected things that Euleria herself saw--or lived.
This reading of the Duviri characters and story--that they mean things to Euleria specifically--gives us a fun new lens to look at all of the chapters with.
For example, Mathila.
"Two children, and no memory of her husband. Poor Mathila."
Two children like Euleria herself, eh?
Mathila loved her husband. He also textually does not exist. He's not on the screen or in the text. He is a memory, and one that Mathila herself cannot even remember. There is no portrayal of their love.
Pivot to a writer's perspective. You need to write a loving relationship. You look to real life for inspiration, right? If you're a married woman needing to write a married woman in love, you naturally look to your own relationship.
And if you can't find anything to base that love off of? Well...move that character offscreen. Just tell about the loving relationship, don't show. Actually, do you even have anything to tell about? Well. Move the entire loving relationship offscreen, then. She's got amnesia. Nobody needs to talk about the love to sell it or make it feel real now. The narrator can simply mention it as a fact and it need not be challenged. Euleria doesn't have to imagine a loving family life between a husband and wife and their two children and question why that's hard for her. There. Problem fucking solved.
Another parallel that fairly started screaming at me once I started considering that the Duviri courtiers had meaning to Euleria specifically: Luscinia.
"I was created to be Sorrow, written into being, to serve as a lesson... can that change?"
Luscinia knows that she is a tool. As much as she dreams of being more, she knows very well that she is a tool--both a literal narrative element to teach a lesson and within the story itself Thrax's servant (his personal songbird).
Is there anyone in Euleria's life who might have some angst over their position as a tool? A servant who wants to escape the limited definitions of their role?
And so... here I am, back to my old role. The diligent servant. Albrecht would have smiled at that, I think.
Loid. It's Loid.
Luscinia: "This structure and I share much. Both of us once useful, both of us discarded, both of us now derelict. Both forgotten." Loid: "How might this relic make himself useful today?"
Both Luscinia and Loid are also capable of surprising amounts of ruthless violence. Luscinia has no hesitation telling you to kill the Dax or otherwise wreak vengeance on her jailers. Loid's Necramech lines feature him ranging from being excited for ensuing violence to coldly promising the Murmur regret.
The Duviri Tales were a subconscious form of therapy for Euleria herself as well, allowing her to write a story where emotional explosions were a problem that must be addressed rather than a social struggle to be suffered through at the whims of the more powerful.

I feel it would be kindness to get Eleanor to the current Origin System and point her directly at Gomaitru.

Going insane right now over just a few sentences like how Albrecht raised his daughter alone, (his daughter who has her mothers eyes) Loid carrying Son on his back around the garden, and how Necraloid (the Entrati's most loyal servant) was built to keep Loid from being alone. Aslo that during the Incident(TM) only Euleria and Kalymos were there because everyone else given up on Albrecht.
Like, I love the theory that Albrecht and Loid are Euleria's parents etc. but. BUT. LISTEN.
Albrecht who always tried to do right by his daughter falling apart just a little bit (a lot) after meeting with the Man in The Wall, getting colder and trying to keep distance from everyone.
And then this random twink shows up, who wants to assist Albrecht in his research and "No I don't need help!" but Euleria is just like "You absolutely do, you're a mess." And Albrecht finally coming to see Loid in a new light after years of working together.
The family notices that Albrecht is in a much better place than before and quickly connects the dots between that and how close the two of them seems to be, and just going, "You know what? That's great."
And then Albrecht at the end of his life falls back into bad habits, and decides to do, whatever the hells happening in Whispers in the Walls and asks for Loid's help and secrecy because he can't let his daughter know of this.
He builds Necraloid because even if he's gotten closer to his family than he was after meeting Wally, he never quite understood the dinamics after that. He didn't really understood the rivalry between his grandkids, just why Grandmother is even there, or how much his daughter is worried about him.
Also Loid. He absolutely does not understand where the family stands with Loid. So he believes that he has to build a little robot to keep Loid company after he leaves, because who else is gonna do that, completely missing the fact that the family adores the man.
His grandson constantly in his heels beggin for piggy back rides, his granddaughter seeks him out all the time to show him her new fishes, his daughter has tea with him at least once a week where they just vent to each other about everything and everyone, grandmother rubs off on him like hell and Vilcor is absolutely terrified of the duo that is his wife's non-offical adopted dad and his mother but is too scared to say anything.
So Albrecht leaves, oblivious to the fact that he's the only one who didn't quite notice that there is no need to worry about Loid's company, but really he is an infuriating man who never just listened and Loid does love him for that.
So he keeps his secret, (whatever happened to him, noone will know) and he mourns alongside his daughter and grandkids and then lives the remaining of his life with them. But he is no orokin, and he still has much to do (the Kalymos sequence) so he has to leave too, and after thinking about it a lot, gives Necraloid a (for a long time) final command, to serve his family just as he served him, to keep them company, and to not let them slip away, as his Albrecht did long ago.

I’ve learned in the past several months that Mother/Euleria/Gomaitru Entrati is an absolutely fascinating character to explore — I wrote something short for Tennotober that kinda went further into that (the Wedding prompt, for those who remember).
I adore her.
Doesn’t help that her voice is absolutely amazing.
Also, I headcanon that her and Lotus hang out (or they did before the whole fiasco that is The Lotus Eaters), because ofc I do. Her, Lotus, maybe Eudico if she gets a day off — fuck it, let’s have all the Warframe ladies just chilling in the Necralisk. Because why not at this point. They need a damn break and a glass of wine (or whatever the Warframe equivalent is) XD.
I do hope that we see more of her and the rest of the Entrati at some point in the game because they’re genuinely so interesting to me.
