Lower One’s Eyes x JinYui

For context, Jin is the name of the one with dark hair and glasses- my OC, that I ship with Yui. The song, Lower One's Eyes / ロウワー by nulut / Lanndo has been on my brain lately and it's just occured to me how perfectly they fit into it so... brainworms took over

I'm planning on doing October art challenges this year, so I'll be redrawing this at the end and hopefully by then I'll improve!

I feel like the recent two I’ve been working on. One is a first draft, the other more refined.

Padawan Talsarn, Ch1

Talsarn observed that someone was watching him closely - an older red woman sitting at a table, quickly looking away whenever he glanced in her direction. Thi was a small village, he assumed that perhaps a Jedi Padawan was an unusual sight in more rural areas of Ryloth. He jumped as a hand was placed upon his shoulder. “Master Jedi,” The woman was the one who had approached, “can you help us?” “Morrighan, don’t.” Another woman scurried over, pulling a shawl about her lekku, “The Jedi can’t help now, it’s been twenty years! They haven’t listened before!” Morrighan scoffed at the other. “None of them understood us, he spoke Ryl! Jedi always help, don’t the stories say?”

Mystery of Llulla

A box of holo- and data discs, exactly as he had thought, all placed in a nice neat pair of stacks. He lifted the little discs out of the box, not having any idea what it was he was even looking for. Something was telling him to though, what it was he had to know.

Near the bottom of the stacks he found a set of two holo discs that seemed a little...different. Maccias couldn't quite explain exactly how, but they certainly seemed a little older than the others - or by physical appearance at least did they appear older, they seemed to light up like a beacon to Maccias' senses. He slid the discs quietly into his hand and shoved the others hastily back into the box, as if Llulla was going to come through that door straight away and discover his snooping. He couldn't sense the Mirialan anywhere nearby, or anyone else really who wasn't currently meditating. Exhaling, he approached the console in the room, quite sure that it must house some kind of holo reading device. Upon inspection, it did, so he inserted one of the discs and turned on the projector.

Silly

There were clothes everywhere; strewn inpiles across the floor, on the chandelier, on the furniture, even thebed canopy. The larger pile on the floor began to move, and from itslowly emerged…Khadae. Dyn’s little green grandson was decked ina mixed array of oversized clothing - one of his old black and redrobes trailed the ground behind the teen Mirialan, battered darkpurple utilitarian gloves that he suspected were Nakai’s, a shinyblue belt connected to a large neck cowl that Dyn had worn once andhated due to the weight, a long black cape that trailed further thanthe robe…that’s Troskohn’s no doubt, all topped with that oldsilver and gold cap he’d been made to wear once that hurt his horn spurs. He chuckled as Khadae turned to him and assumed full stance befitting a Sith Sorceror.“Look Master Dyn, I’m a powerful and deadly Sith Lord!”

Serious

The figure that emerged from the ship was wrapped in a long white outfit that appeared to be one of Wanyuy’s spare coats. They made directly for the little Twi’lek and laid themselves against his back, hiding their face behind a striped peach lek.Was that…? It couldn’t be…?Dyn approached them now, as a little orange-yellow eye slowly peeked out from behind its lek sanctuary - the red Sith could see within it fear and apprehension.

Padawan Talsarn/Lord Wanyuy

I wanted to draw Twi’leks, and so Twi’leks.

It’s probably obvious I’ve been working through the notes of Story 2. It is Wanyuy’s.

Twi’leks are still fun to draw. This is Talsarn, better known by his Sith title Lord Wanyuy. He is kinda important and I am sorry I’ve not finished an introduction for him yet.

One little fact thing about Wanyuy:

Yes, he is a fallen Jedi Padawan. He has his reasons, he also doesn’t generally like being called Sith, despite how the Jedi classify him.

(I have mentioned before an Empire era Twi’lek also called Wanyuy. They are in fact related!)

Overwriter

Overwriter : What is the easiest thing for you to write/ what are your strengths

Backstories, dream sequences, reminicing, character POV. I take a situation and explore it a lot from other character perspectives looking back on an event for a reason. Get to show character development this way too.

I miiight have several complete stories/chapters written like this but gotten stuck on a prior short story/chapter so can’t publish it X.x Not a joke. Being stuck on introducing Wanyuy and Kyril is holding up about six short stories/multichapters...

Who dates who

Some of my OCs are dating, some of them aren’t. But who is dating who? I’ll also list their sexuality. There is one missing from this list, but that is a spoiler bigger than stating Wanyuy dates someone.

Note: Yes; Lidya, Xu, Haikyrion, and Rina do die over the course of the story, but they are OCs and I do write about them and draw them so they are here.

From @bunny-loverxiv‘s ask for the OC asks, here we have the reply. Sorry about how long that took, the second one took more time than I expected as I decided to choose someone more unexpected.

👹 How does you OC act around different people and how does their personality change to match the environment they’re in? How do they act with: friends, family, strangers, children or their lover(s)? 

I'll do this with Dyn, given that his actions and personality change pretty drastically depending on the audience and people present. It's par the course for a Sith Pureblood from an aristocratic family (as much as he dislikes said family), even more so as a diplomat.

This is going to be loooong, sorry.

Given, say, a Sith-run party or ball, then Dyn would act as a reserved socialite. That is how he would be expected to act in the situation and he would prefer to blend in than stand out. If the function is more diplomatic, then trying to not cause incident would also come into play and he’d likely only speak if spoken to. His reactions with different people depends on who they are, his relationship with them, and if they are in public or private quarters.

Publicly, his actions will always be diplomatic and reserved, for acting out of turn publicly would be an embarrassment. In private quarters would the differences in his actions and personality become clear.

- With friends it depends upon who they are, but he will be much friendlier and open with them - but not fully open. The employees of his hotel are considered to be his friends and he does treat them with equal respect.

- To the majority of his blood family, you’ll probably get hostility - most of his family do not like him and if they are trying to be involved it’s either because they want to use him or want to harass him, so he responds in kind. They also detest that his apprentices aren’t Pureblood Sith but a Human and Twi’lek - they find it shameful, he finds their reaction to them shameful. The exceptions to this are pretty much just Nakai (nephew) and Mieka Danir (cousin) - Nakai being such a close confidant that he is possibly one of only two people who has ever seen Dyn’s true feelings, and Mieka is considered as a close friend.

- Strangers still get a more reserved response in private as he doesn’t know them well enough to trust them with any other response - showing anything that could potentially be construed as weakness is a death sentence for a Sith after all.

- His biological children will get a not hostile but not warm response. They are his children and he cares very much for them, but his family have been whispering lies about him to them and so they hate him. Lykus - his fourth child - even tried having him assassinated (again, he’s survived two assassination attempts). To his adopted children - Troskohn and Wanyuy - and adopted grandson - Khadae - he treats as a father would treat his children and grandchildren, he doesn’t care that they are different species to him.

- To his wife, well, she was his best friend, his trainer (she could flatten him in a lightsaber fight and taught him how to use it), and his everything. She was the only other person who saw who he truly was, and he was much happier and freer around her. I really need to write more about Lidya because her and him are really cute.

💥 Are there any emotions your OC doesn’t know how to deal with, doesn’t understand or hates having to feel? Any reason behind this?

This one was interesting, because most of my exploration of this has been done with Leyten, but I've already explained him and fear before, so someone different and unexpected.

Kitti. Kitti Chavalir. Dyn's niece, Nakai's sister. Snobbish, haughty, spoilt, arrogant...and afraid of loneliness. She saw her brother abandoned, and though she pretends that it means nothing to her she doesn't know how to deal with it, and is afraid that the same could be done to her. If her family so casually threw him away – took away every support he ever had and tossed him aside – they could do it to her too. So many people have also died in her family, children left without parents and having to be raised by aunts and uncles, that one single incident and you could be alone. She doesn't understand how her brother handled it, she's heard tales of her first cousin once removed roaming the galaxy alone, and the thought terrifies her. She has a habit of making sure everyone close to her stays close; her mother Fia, husband Ludwick, and apprentice Nyx (who she hides from her family as Nyx is a Twi'lek - taking on a non-Pureblood apprentice would be looked down upon by her parents) are never too far away.

I now want to explore this more, maybe I should write something with Kitti.

Trying to work out how this one character’s actions are described is complicated. Mostly because it is based on a subject matter that is commonly misinterpreted - but I don’t misinterpret it. The character is actually dark side and is purposely doing the negative action for what they believe is a justified reason. This is why an introduction to Wanyuy is rather delayed, because the antag for him (who is not just Wanyuy’s antag but someone else’s too) is a lump I’m having to work in a lot of extra details on to show that it is them purposely doing bad things and that I am not misinterpreting the Jedi.

Why is your OC named that?

I’ll do a few at a time though. I enjoy describing things. Feel free to do this too ^^

So starting with:

Lord Khadae - Khadae - خدع - is an Arabic word meaning “trick/deceive”. It originates with my original idea for Khadae, as an elder Sith agent who had deceived the Jedi Order for a long time.

Jedi Knight Llulla - Llulla is a Quechua word meaning “deceive”. The matching meanings of Khadae and Llulla is intended.

Jedi Master Leyten Oro - Leyten’s first name was inspired by the song I was listening to when I created him (Leiston Fortress from Trails in the Sky). Oro just happened, I don’t know why that is his surname but it is.

Darth Dyn - More fun that I now know that it pretty much means “power”, but Dyn comes from the name Dyne, which is just a name I like. The “e” was dropped because the letter doesn’t exist in Kittât.

Darth Troskohn - You know, now I think about it, I haven’t the foggiest idea. From when I first created him, he was already Troskohn.

Jedi Master Xu’Lorun - Xu, from 旭 - dawn. Not sure about Lorun, I have had previous OCs named Lorun though.

Padawan Talsarn - Talsarn is the name of a hamlet in Wales. It was a word that ended up sticking to the character for some reason, I don’t remember what it means off the top of my head. Where Talsarn comes from has a lot of Welsh things.

Lord Wanyuy - Truly spelt “Wañuy” but SWTOR objected to the ñ for some reason. From Quechua, Wañuy, “Death”. An Empire era Inquisitor character of mine held this name first, it came from his ancestor Lord Wañuy. SWTOR era character in this instance is the ancestor in question. Inquisitor Wañuy was named that because he used deceit and terror to hunt down Jedi, so he was nicknamed Wañuy (Quechua was the language that inspired Huttese). At least that was the intent, that changed loads.
